With the advancement of economic globalization, journalistic companies offer a greater variety of content and competition between them becomes more intense. In addition, there is a wave of mergers, acquisitions and stock purchases of communication groups that lead to greater concentration and competition in the market. Many companies have invested heavily in new technologies to position themselves against their competitors. The objective of the study is to understand how the use of the instant messaging application What'sApp in the newsrooms of the 180 Graus and Meio Norte sites helps in the accumulation of capital by journalistic companies. In the scientific paper, it is used as a theoretical reference during the research: Bueno (2011), Cardoso (2010), Castells (2015), Franciscato (2016), Moura (2018), Ribeiro (2014) and Sousa (2018). The research uses the Political Economy of Communication (EPC) framework together with the historical dialectical materialist method to understand the economic and political changes of the current context to subsidize the content analysis of semi-structured interviews with the editors-leaders of the mentioned sites. Then, it is concluded that it is possible to point two functions for the WhatsApp within the productive process of the news in the sites Meio Norte and 180 Graus. From the 1980s to the present day, contemporary capitalism imposes on countries measures for the liberalization of world trade that deregulate labor laws and weaken unions, leading to increased unemployment. In the area of communication, companies start to produce more content and competition between them intensify. The objective of this work is to understand how the process of acquiring experience in media after the socioeconomic and cultural transformations introduced by governments in the capitalist world takes place. The work uses as a theoretical reference to support the investigations, authors Alsina (2009), Bauman (2011), Castells (2018), Hartog (2015), Santos (2017), Silverstone (2002), Moraes (2010), Moura e Rêgo (2012). Thus, the study makes use of theoretical research to understand the definitions and the theoretical contribution used in the analyzes. The study concludes that the stories covered and published by the media portray versions of an event or experience advocated by the editorial policy of the media group in that historical period.
