The reliability of hourly PM2.5 data obtained from air quality monitoring stations is compromised as a result of the missing values, thereby impeding the thorough examination of crucial information. In this paper, we present a spatiotemporal (ST) stacking machine learning (ML) method with daily‐cycle restrictions for reconstructing missing hourly PM2.5 records. First, the ST neighbors for the target station with missing values are selected at a daily scale. Subsequently, the non‐null data within the ST neighbors undergo an iterative P‐BSHADE interpolation process for re‐interpolation. Next, a stacking ML model is constructed using the re‐interpolation values and several environmental factors associated with PM2.5 as the predictors, while the observed PM2.5 is taken as the independent variable. Finally, the missing values are reconstructed by inputting the predictors into the trained stacking model. The study utilized hourly PM2.5 data in the Beijing‐Tianjin‐Hebei region as a case study to assess the effectiveness of the proposed method, using daily missing ratios of 10%, 30%, and 50%, respectively. The accuracy of the proposed method was then compared to four contemporary ST interpolation methods. The results indicate that the proposed method exhibits superior performance compared to the classical methods. Specifically, it achieves a reduction in the average root mean square error and mean absolute error by at least 40.6% and 40.1%, respectively. Additionally, the proposed method demonstrates the successful recovery of extreme values in the hourly PM2.5 records, in contrast to the classical methods which often exhibit a tendency to overestimate low values and underestimate high values. ALAS1 is a member of the α‐oxoamine synthase family, which is the first rate‐limiting enzyme for heme synthesis and is important for maintaining intracellular heme levels. In the ovary, ALAS1 is associated with the regulation of ovulation‐related mitochondrial P450 cytochromes, steroid metabolism, and steroid hormone production. However, there are few studies on the relationship between ALAS1 and reproductive traits in goats. In this study, a mutation located in the promoter region of ALAS1 (g.48791372C>A) was found to be significantly (p < 0.05) associated with the kidding number of Yunshang black goats. Specifically, the mean kidding number in the first three litters and the kidding numbers of all three litters were significantly (p < 0.05) higher in individuals with the CA genotype or AA genotype than in those with the CC genotype. To further investigate the regulatory mechanism of ALAS1, the expression of ALAS1 in goat ovarian tissues with different genotypes was verified by real‐time quantitative PCR. The results showed that the expression of ALAS1 was significantly higher in the ovaries of individuals with AA genotype than those with AC and CC genotypes (p < 0.01), and the expression trend of transcription factor ASCL2 was consistent with ALAS1. Additionally, the ALAS1 g.48791372C>A mutation created a new binding site for the transcription factor ASCL2. The luciferase activity assay indicated that the mutation increased the promoter activity of ALAS1. Overexpression of the transcription factor ASCL2 induced increased expression of ALAS1 in goat granulosa cells (p < 0.05). The opposite trend was shown for the inhibition of ASCL2 expression. The results of real‐time quantitative PCR, EdU and Cell Counting Kit‐8 assays indicated that the transcription factor ASCL2 increased the proliferation of goat granulosa cells by mediating the expression of ALAS1. In conclusion, the transcription factor ASCL2 positively regulated the transcriptional activity and expression levels of ALAS1, altering granulosa cell proliferation and the kidding number in goats. The principal function of inflammation is cellular defence against 'danger signals' such as tissue injury and pathogen infection to maintain the homeostasis of the organism. The initiation and progression of inflammation are not autonomous as there is substantial evidence that inflammation is known to be strongly influenced by 'neuroimmune crosstalk', involving the production and expression of soluble signalling molecules that interact with cell surface receptors. In addition, microbiota have been found to be involved in the development and function of the nervous and immune systems and play an important role in health and disease. Herein, we provide an outline of the mechanisms of neuroimmune communication in the regulation of inflammation and immune response and then provide evidence for the involvement of microbiota in the development and functions of the host nervous and immune systems. It appears that the nervous and immune systems in multicellular organisms have co‐evolved with the microbiota, such that all components are in communication to maximise the ability of the organism to adapt to a wide range of environmental stresses to maintain or restore tissue homeostasis. Quantifying the supercooling characteristics of saline soil–water systems is essential for engineering and agriculture in cold regions. However, the crystallization mechanism of supercooling remains unclear. We conducted experimental observations to investigate the impact of salinity on the soil supercooling properties. Additionally, a freezing nucleation thermodynamic model for saline soil was established based on the Negentropic Nucleation Framework (NNF). Statistical analysis methods were employed to analyze the sensitivity of the parameters and interpret the supercooling microscopic mechanism. The results indicated that the supercooling degree distribution of saline soil is best described by a normal distribution (hypothesis testing statistic D n = 0.176). The nucleation rate was primarily controlled by water activity and activation energy of water molecules. The concentration of salt solution played a crucial role in promoting the formation and growth of crystal nuclei. However, the promoting effect decreased with increasing solution concentration when the concentration was below 0.3 mol/L. Moreover, the nucleation potential energy barrier increased with salt concentration, with NaCl environment exhibiting a higher nucleation potential energy barrier compared to Na 2 SO 4 environment at the same salt concentration. In summary, this research provides a theoretical reference for revealing the freezing-thawing hysteretic mechanism and improving the accuracy of numerical calculation models in cold regions. In this work, carbon/SiO 2 composites, using amylose and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as raw materials, were successfully prepared by a facial hydrothermal carbonization process. The carbon/SiO 2 composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), transmission electron microscope (TEM), N 2 adsorption and Thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. The composites, which were made up of amorphous SiO 2 and amorphous carbon, were found to have hierarchical porous structures. The mass ratios of amylose and SiO 2 and the hydrothermal carbonization time had significant effects on the morphology of the composites, which had three shapes including monodispersed spheres, porous pieces and the nano-fibers combined with nano-spheres structures. The adsorption performance of the composites was studied using Pb 2+ as simulated contaminants from water. When the mass ratio of amylose and SiO 2 was 9/1, the hydrothermal time was 30 h and the hydrothermal temperature was 180 °C, the adsorption capacity of the composites achieved to 52 mg/g. Experimental data show that adsorption kinetics of the carbon/SiO 2 composites can be fitted well by the Elovich model, while the isothermal data can be perfectly described by the Langmuir adsorption model and Freundlich adsorption model. Soil respiration (SR) has been demonstrated to be affected by nitrogen (N) enrichment. However, most studies examine the effect of N enrichment on SR using only two levels of N treatments (i.e. control vs N enrichment). Current understanding of SR responses to varying rates of N enrichment remains unclear. A field manipulative experiment with eight levels of N addition (0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 g N m−2 yr−1) was performed to examine SR responses to N enrichment rates in a temperate steppe of northern China. A nonlinear decrease in SR along N addition gradient was observed in the temperate steppe. N addition decreased SR mainly through reducing soil moisture in this study. The production of goat meat is determined by the growth speed of muscle fibers, and the autophagy and apoptosis of myoblast cells is a crucial process in the growth of muscle fibers. The rapid growth of muscle fibers occurs from one month old to nine months old in goats; however, the mechanisms of myoblast cells' autophagy and apoptosis in this process are still unknown. To identify candidate genes and signaling pathway mechanisms involved in myoblast apoptosis and autophagy, we compared the expression characteristics of longissimus dorsi tissues from Wu'an goats—a native goat breed of China—at 1 month old (mon1 group) and 9 months old (mon9 group). Herein, a total of 182 differentially expressed mRNAs (DEGs) in the mon1 vs. mon9 comparison, along with the KEGG enrichments, showed that the PI3K-Akt pathway associated with autophagy and apoptosis was significantly enriched. Among these DEGs, expression of vacuole membrane protein 1 (VMP1)—a key gene for the PI3K-Akt pathway—was significantly upregulated in the older goats relative to the 1-month-old goats. We demonstrated that VMP1 promotes the proliferation and autophagy of myoblasts, and inhibits their apoptosis. The integration analysis of miRNA–mRNA showed that miR-124a was a regulator of VMP1 in muscle tissue, and overexpression and inhibition of miR-124a suppressed the proliferation and autophagy of myoblasts. The PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway was an important pathway for cell autophagy. Additionally, the activator of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, the expression of VMP1, and ULK1 were higher than the negative control, and the expression of mTOR was depressed. The expression of VMP1, ULK1, and mTOR was the opposite when the inhibitor was added to the myoblasts. These results show that the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway promoted the expression of VMP1 and ULK1. By using adenovirus-mediated apoptosis and proliferation assays, we found that that miR-124a inhibits myoblast proliferation and autophagy, and promotes their apoptosis by targeting VMP1. In conclusion, our results indicated that VMP1 was highly expressed in the LD muscle tissues of nine-month-old goats, and that it was regulated by miR-124a to inhibit myoblast cells' apoptosis through the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, and to promote proliferation and autophagy. A rice classification method for the fast and non-destructive differentiation of different varieties is significant in research at present. In this study, fluorescence hyperspectral technology combined with machine learning techniques was used to distinguish five rice varieties by analyzing the fluorescence hyperspectral features of Thai jasmine rice and four rice varieties with a similar appearance to Thai jasmine rice in the wavelength range of 475–1000 nm. The fluorescence hyperspectral data were preprocessed by a first-order derivative (FD) to reduce the background and baseline drift effects of the rice samples. Then, a principal component analysis (PCA) and t-distributed stochastic neighborhood embedding (t-SNE) were used for feature reduction and 3D visualization display. A partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), BP neural network (BP), and random forest (RF) were used to build the rice classification models. The RF classification model parameters were optimized using the gray wolf algorithm (GWO). The results show that FD-t-SNE-GWO-RF is the best model for rice classification, with accuracy values of 99.8% and 95.3% for the training and test sets, respectively. The Middle−Upper Xixiangchi Formation of the Sichuan Basin consists of mixed carbonates and siliciclastics. The carbonates are dominated by dolomitized lime-mudstones and dolo–grainstones of shallow warm-water environments. Petrographic examination of carbonates reveals two types of dolomite: (i) fabric retentive dolomicrite (D1, micritic to near-micritic, 4–50 μm) and (ii) fabric-destructive dolomite (eu-to subhedral crystals with cloudy cores and clear rims, 50–300 μm). The mean ∑REE values of D1 (15.3 ± 6.3 ppm) and D2 (14.6 ± 7.1 ppm) and the nearly identical mean PAAS-normalized patterns that coincide at some points, suggest an origin from similar parent fluids that were not dramatically changed by water-rock interaction through basinal sedimentary rocks. The estimated Sr/Ca molar ratios of D1 (0.0043–0.0055) parent fluids and their estimated δ18O values imply an origin from a mixture of meteoric and seawaters, which is also consistent with the petrographic evidence. The partially coinciding normalized REE pattern of D2 with that of the earlier D1 suggests that the latter was formed at a mid-burial setting rather than deep burial, which is consistent with higher homogenization temperatures of primary two-phased fluid inclusions retained in D2 (T h = 118.1 ± 5.3 °C). Therefore, D1 is suggested to have formed (1) during a penecontemporaneous period that resulted from a slight evaporative pumping effect within a near-surface diagenetic environment, and/or (2) during post-penecontemporaneous or penecontemporaneous seepage-reflux dolomitization, induced by sea-level fluctuations, during early stages of diagenesis at near-surface conditions. D2 formed likely through the recrystallization of D1 or a continuation of reflux dolomitization of the same precursor at mid-burial rather than deep burial settings. • Origins of D1 and D2 dolomites are reflected by their geochemical compositions. • Dolomitizing fluids were derived from slightly evaporated seawater and basinal brines. • Similar parent fluids of D1 and D2 are reflected by their nearly identical PAAS-normalized REEs patterns. • Recrystallization of D1 likely accounts for comparable δ18O values with D2. The Middle-Upper Cambrian Xixiangchi Formation in the Sichuan Basin is regarded as an important reservoir with great potential for hydrocarbon exploration. It is previously indicated that the Xixiangchi carbonates have experienced extensive dolomitization, however, the origin of dolomitizing fluids and the dolomitization mechanism still remain uncertain. In this study, a set of petrographic and geochemical examinations, including rare earth elements (REE) and isotopic (C, O, and Sr) compositions were used to trace the origins of dolomitizing fluids and associated diagenetic processes. The petrographic examination revealed three types of matrix dolomites (D1, D2, D3) and one cement saddle dolomite (SD). These phases have crystal size ranges of less than 30 μm (very fine to fine crystals, D1), 30–100 μm (fine to medium crystals, D2), 100–300 μm (medium to coarsely crystalline dolomite, D3), and 0.3–4 mm (fracture filling cements, SD), respectively. D1 is characterized by non to very weak luminescence, weakly negative Ce anomalies (Ce/Ce* = 0.84 ± 0.02), strongly negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.65 ± 0.03), and high 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.71062 ± 0.00122). In combination with δ13C (−1.5‰ ± 0.2‰) and δ18O (−9.7‰ ± 0.5‰) compositions, D1 is interpreted to be formed by penecontemporaneous dolomitization in the near-surface environment with seawater as the dolomitizing fluid. In contrast, D2 is characterized by intercrystalline pores, dirty crystal surfaces, similar δ13C (−1.4‰ ± 0.4‰) compositions but higher δ18O (−8.9‰ ± 0.7‰) compositions, and lower 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.70992 ± 0.00035), similar Ce anomalies (Ce/Ce* = 0.87 ± 0.04) and higher Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.85 ± 0.04). The coarser D2 is regarded to be formed by the post-penecontemporaneous seepage-reflux dolomitization or by recrystallization of D1 dolomite in a near-surface or shallow burial environment. D3 is distinguished by a cloudy core with clear rims, showing slightly higher Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.88 ± 0.02) and similar Ce anomalies (Ce/Ce* = 0.88 ± 0.02) than those of D1 and D2. Combined with the δ18O compositions (−10.4‰ ± 0.4‰) and 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.70989 ± 0.00048), D3 is thought to be formed by the overgrowth or recrystallization of D1 and D2 dolomites in a shallow to moderate burial environment. The fractures filling SD dolomite consists of nonplanar and much coarser crystals with undulatory extinctions and brighter red luminescence. The lower δ18O (−11.1‰ ± 0.3‰) compositions, lower negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.70 ± 0.01) of SD than the matrix dolomites, and similar Ce anomalies (Ce/Ce* = 0.83 ± 0.01) are indicative of hydrothermal dolomitization, with possible fluids associated with the magma during the period of Emei taphrogenic movement. In addition, the 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.70941 ± 0.00003) of SD suggest probable origin from the coeval seawater partially. Therefore, SD dolomite is interpreted to be formed by hydrothermal dolomitization with mixed dolomitizing fluid of seawater and hydrothermal fluids. In summary, all the matrix dolomites have almost the same ΣREE concentrations and exhibit similar near-flat REE partition patterns with weak LREE enrichments, weakly negative Ce anomalies, and negative Eu anomalies. Such characteristics of REE compositions are indicative of similar evolved dolomitizing fluid, such as seawater or seawater- derived fluids. By contrast, SD dolomites have a different REE partition pattern with left-leaning characteristics, LREE depletions, and negative Eu anomalies, thus suggesting a different dolomitizing fluid source from the matrix dolomites. In addition, the development of intercrystalline pores associated with D2 dolomite makes it more likely to be a potential reservoir, indicating that the dolomitizing history of carbonate has a strong influence on the quality of potential dolomite reservoirs. The exploitation of solid hydrogen storage materials is an important part of the large-scale application of hydrogen energy. However, Metal agglomeration is one of the main reasons that restrict the hydrogen storage performance of carbon-based hydrogen storage materials. Herein, we develop Ti-decorated boron doped porous graphene as a novel hydrogen storage material based on first-principles calculations. The geometry and electronic structure of Ti-decorated porous graphene with and without boron doped are calculated. Doping boron in porous graphene (PG) can significantly increase the metal-substrate interaction and prevents the formation of Ti-metal clusters. The Ti atom-decorated boron-doped porous graphene (Ti–B/PG) system can stably adsorb sixteen hydrogen molecules with a gravimetric hydrogen uptake of 8.58 wt%. The thermodynamic calculations prove a high usable capacity of the material, at the adsorbing and desorbing conditions of 25 °C, 30 atm and 100 °C, 3 atm. The excellent hydrogen capacity, good recyclability, and desirable desorption capacity of Ti–B/PG make it a very prospective material for hydrogen storage. Because there is no effective treatment for late‐stage prostate cancer (PCa) at this moment, identifying novel targets for therapy of advanced PCa is urgently needed. A new network‐based systems biology approach, XDeath, is developed to detect crosstalk of signaling pathways associated with PCa progression. This unique integrated network merges gene causal regulation networks and protein‐protein interactions to identify novel co‐targets for PCa treatment. The results show that polo‐like kinase 1 (Plk1) and DNA methyltransferase 3A (DNMT3a)‐related signaling pathways are robustly enhanced during PCa progression and together they regulate autophagy as a common death mode. Mechanistically, it is shown that Plk1 phosphorylation of DNMT3a leads to its degradation in mitosis and that DNMT3a represses Plk1 transcription to inhibit autophagy in interphase, suggesting a negative feedback loop between these two proteins. Detailed knowledge of the effects of temperature on the thermal conductivity (λ) of rocks is essential for investigating the geothermal regime of basins and their thermal evolution. In this study, the λ of four rock types (carbonate, clastic, intrusive, and volcanic rocks) were measured at temperatures of 25°C, 50°C, 100°C, 150°C, 200°C, 250°C, and 300°C using the Transient Plane Source (TPS) approach, which is accurate to ±3%. Experimental results demonstrate that the λ of carbonate and clastic specimens decrease strongly with increasing temperature. In contrast, the λ of intrusive and volcanic rocks are relatively insensitive to temperature. The temperature (T) dependence of λ can be classified into three groups in terms of the value of λ at 25°C. The first group is composed of rocks characterized by high λ (>4.5 W/m·K) at room temperature, for which the curves of λ − T exhibit a concave pattern. The second group consists of rocks with a moderate λ (2.5~3.5 W/m·K), in which the curves tend to be a straight line. The last group comprises rocks with a low λ (<2.5 W/m·K), exhibiting convex curves. There exists a close relationship between the λ at 25°C and its rate of decrease (α). The absolute value of α increases with the λ at 25°C rising. The relationship between the two values can be fitted by the equation y = a x + b 1 / x + c to derive the fitting parameters a , b , and c ; by this equation with known fitting parameters, the λ of the deep carbonate rocks of the Tarim Basin have been estimated. In this study, thermal conductivities of 128 rock samples located in the Xiong'an New Area and Tarim Basin were measured using the optical scanning and transient plane source methods. The thermal conductivities of the Xiong'an New Area samples range from 1.14 to 6.69 W/(m·K), in which the mean thermal conductivities of dolomite and sandstone are 4.95 ± 1.19 and 1.80 ± 0.44 W / m · K , respectively. In the Tarim Basin, sandstone samples have thermal conductivities ranging from 1.21 to 3.56 W/(m·K) with a mean value of 2.51 ± 0.66 W / m · K . The results can provide helpful reference data for studies of geothermics and petroleum geology. Calculation correction and water-saturated measurements were conducted to acquire in situ rock thermal conductivity, and good consistency was found between both. Compaction diagenesis enhances bulk thermal conductivity of sedimentary rocks, particularly sandstones, by decreasing the rock porosity and mineral particle size. Finally, correction factors with respect to mineral grains were proposed to correct the thermal resistance of intergrain contacts and degree of intactness of crystals, and an optimized formula was adopted to calculate the thermal conductivity of sedimentary rock based on rock structure and mineral constituents. Taurine plays role in neural development and physiological functions such as endocrine regulation in the central nervous system (CNS), and it is one of the most abundant free amino acid there. We investigated its potential effect as a neurotransmitter in the group of neuroendocrine Dahlgren cells at flounder Paralichthys olivaceus caudal neurosecretory system (CNSS). The application of taurine in vitro led to a reduction in electrical activity of Dahlgren cells, followed by a rise in the number of silent cells, at the same time the frequency of all three activity patterns (tonic, phasic, bursting) in Dahlgren cells was reduced. Both strychnine (a glycine receptor antagonist) and bicuculline (a GABA A receptor antagonist) can block the response to taurine separately. Transcriptome sequencing analysis showed the existence of glycine receptor (GlyR) and GABA A receptor (GABA A R) in the flounder CNSS, and the GlyR, GABA A R, and Cl- channel mRNA expression were significantly raised after taurine superfusion according to quantitative RT-PCR results. Background: To investigate the microRNA (miRNA)-gene interactions underlying leukocyte functions and characteristics, especially the potential serum biomarkers, implicated in the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)-defined Pi-qi-deficiency syndrome (PQDS) and Pi-wei damp-heat syndrome (PDHS) resulting from chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG). Methods: Using RNA/miRNA-sequencing approach, compared with healthy control population, we identified the PDHS- or PQDS-specific miRNAs and genes in leukocytes or serums, especially the Zheng (syndrome)-specific miRNA-gene interactions, and further decoded their functions and pathways. Results: Despite being the TCM-defined Zhengs resulting from the same disease of CAG, the Zheng-specific genes and miRNAs were not same. The PDHS-specific leukocyte genes were mainly involved in defense and immune responses, including NOD-like receptor signaling and several synapses-related pathways. The expression upregulation of PDHS-specific genes enriched in the neutrophil degranulation pathway, indicated the enhanced leukocyte degranulation activation. The PQDS-specific genes in leukocytes were implicated in inflammatory response, extracellular matrix (ECM) organization and collagen catabolism. They could be enriched in MAPK and IL17 signaling and helper T cell differentiation pathways, especially the pathways associated with cell-to-cell adhesion/junction and communication such as cell adhesion molecules, ECM organization and ECM-receptor interaction, probably contributing to the characteristics and functions of leukocytes. Also, the experimentally-supported miRNA-gene interactions, concerned with COL4A2, COL26A1, SPP1 and PROCR, were implicated in the regulation of pathways related to cell-to-cell adhesion/junction and communication, suggesting the potential roles of the PQDS-specific miRNA-gene interactions for the characteristic and functional changes of leukocytes. Interestingly, the PQDS-specific miRNAs in the serums and the corresponding leukocytes, seemed to have the common roles in contributing to the characteristics and functions of leukocytes. Importantly, the hsa-miR-122-5p could be a potential biomarker, capable of being contained and carried in plasma exosomes and much higher expression in both the leukocytes and corresponding serums in the CAG patients with PQDS rather than PDHS. Conclusions: These results may provide new insights into the characteristic and functional changes of leukocytes in the two Zhengs, PDHS and PQDS, especially the miRNA-mediated gene regulation underlying leukocyte characteristics and functions, with potential leukocyte and serum biomarkers for future application in integrative medicine. Objects. To investigate the lncRNA-mediated trans- and cis-regulation of genes expression underlying leukocyte functions and characteristics, especially the leukocyte-related biomarkers implicated in the linkage between traditional Chinese medicine- (TCM-) defined qi-deficiency constitution (QDC) and Pi-qi-deficiency syndrome (PQDS) of chronic superficial gastritis (CSG). Methods. We adopted RNA-sequencing approach to identify differential lncRNAs and genes in leukocytes, clustered expression profiles, and analyzed biological functions and pathways of differential genes to decode their potential roles in contributing to characteristics and functions of leukocytes. In addition, interaction networks were created to detail the interactions between differential genes. In particular, we explored differential lncRNAs-mediated regulation of differential genes and predicted the subcellular location of lncRNAs to reveal their potential roles. Results. Compared with TCM-defined balanced constitution (BC), 183 and 93 genes as well as 749 and 651 lncRNAs were differentially expressed (P < 0.05 and |log2 (fold change)| ≥1) in leukocytes of individuals from case populations 1 (QDC) and 2 (PQDS), respectively. Of them, 12 genes and 111 lncRNAs were common to each case population. Several networks were created to detail the interactions among case-specific genes, especially case-specific lncRNAs-mediated regulation of case-specific genes. Also, interaction networks were created for the common lncRNAs and genes. HCL analyses showed that differential genes and lncRNAs, especially the common genes and lncRNAs, kept similar expression patterns in both case populations. Furthermore, function enrichment analyses just indicated the common biological processes, namely, extracellular matrix organization and cell adhesion via plasma membrane adhesion molecules. In addition, most common genes underwent very tight and complex regulation of many trans- and cis-acting lncRNAs. In particular, of them, ADAMTSL5, COL26A1, COL27A1, MSH5, and LOC390937 could be regulated by multiple case-specific and common lncRNAs, including the means that directs binding of the common lncRNAs to their coded proteins. The common changes in the extracellular matrix and integral components of plasma membrane related to cell-cell adhesion/junction and communication may implicate the linkage between QDC and PQDS, contributing to alterations in characteristics and functions of leukocytes. These results may provide new insights into the characteristic and functional changes of leukocytes in QDC and PQDS, especially the mechanism underlying the linkage of QDC to PQDS, with potential leukocytes biomarkers for future application in integrative medicine. Urotensin II (UII) is a kind of fish somatostatins cyclic peptide, which was originally extracted from the caudal neurosecretory system (CNSS). The system of UII and UII receptor (UIIR) has been reported to have multiple physiological regulatory functions, such as cardiovascular control, osmoregulation, and lipid metabolism. However, the effect of UII and UIIR on the ovarian development has not been covered. This study investigated the expression pattern of UII and UIIR in the ovarian follicles and explored their impact on ovarian development in olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. The results showed that the highest UII and UIIR mRNA levels were observed at stage II and stage III follicles during ovarian development, respectively. In situ hybridization revealed that a strong signal of UII was expressed in the oocyte nuclei of stage II follicles, however, UIIR was found in the follicle cells and oocyte cytoplasm of stage II and stage III follicles. Similarly, immunohistochemistry found positive signal of UII was detected in the oocyte nuclei of stage II follicles. The results from in vitro culture of olive flounder follicles suggested the expression of UII and UIIR mRNA levels significantly increased by 10 IU/ml human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) for 9 h. Furthermore, the transcriptional expression of UII and UIIR was not statistically significantly changed by 17α, 20β-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one (DHP). The α-FeO/TiO bi-functional composites with hierarchical and hollow structures are fabricated through a hydrothermal route. The adsorption performance and photocatalytic activity of the composites towards Pb are investigated in this work. Different adsorption kinetics models and equilibrium models are used to explore the adsorption behavior of hierarchical α-FeO/TiO hollow spheres. Experimental data show that adsorption kinetics of the hierarchical α-FeO/TiO hollow spheres can be fitted well by the pseudo-second-order model, while the isothermal data can be perfectly described by the Langmuir adsorption model. The maximum adsorption capacity of the hierarchical α-FeO/TiO hollow spheres is 32.36 mg g. Moreover, the hierarchical α-FeO/TiO hollow spheres possess photocatalytic oxidation character under simulated solar light irradiation. The results demonstrate that the hierarchical α-FeO/TiO hollow spheres, as effective and cheap materials, can be applied to the removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We tested the hypothesis that transient microinjury to the brain elicits cellular and humoral responses that stimulate hippocampal neurogenesis. Brief stereotaxic insertion and removal of a microneedle into the right hippocampus resulted in (a) significantly increased expression of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), the chemokine MIP-la, and the proinflammatory cytokine IL12p40; (b) pronounced activation of microglia and astrocytes; and (c) increase in hippocampal neurogenesis. This study describes immediate and early humoral and cellular mechanisms of the brain's response to microinjury that will be useful for the investigation of potential neuroprotective and deleterious effects of deep brain stimulation in various neuropsychiatric disorders. Abstract: Introduction: Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) is used routinely in clinical practice for the treatment of neutropenia and to increase generation of hematopoietic stem cells in bone marrow donors. A growing body of literature on the neurotrophic effects of G-CSF has led to clinical trials in stroke, Alzheimer''s disease (AD) and Parkinson''s disease (PD). Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to determine if G-CSF administration would rescue the nigro-striatal system and restore locomotor function after completion of a sub-acute course of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) administration (30mg/kg i.p. for 5 days) in 12 month-old mice. A secondary aim was to determine if G-CSF affects the neuro-inflammatory response by modulating microglial activation in striatum and midbrain. Results: MPTP-treated mice were impaired on the rotometer test after the last dose of the toxicant and remained impaired until euthanasia. MPTP-treated mice that were given an 8-day regimen of G-CSF starting 2 days after the last dose of toxicant enhanced motor performance compared to the MPTP alone group. MPTP treatment depleted striatal DA (DA) levels; G-CSF given after MPTP resulted in a partial, significant repletion of DA levels. Total microglial burden in the striatum was increased significantly in MPTP-treated mice and was reduced after G-CSF rescue. Conclusion: G-CSF enhances recovery of DA nigro-striatal function from MPTP toxicity in part by modulating the microglial response to injury. The chemical shifts of the aromatic hydrogens of 12 symmetrical imidazolium salts were determined in different deuterated solvents. Based on the magnitude of the chemical shift change for the hydrogens of the imidazolium ion in the various solvents, relationships were developed to determine the relative solute/solvent interactions for these compounds. Owing to different degrees of interactions involving the aromatic hydrogens of the imidazolium cations and anions, there is a variation in the interaction of the hydrogens with the solvent molecules. The intimate interaction that exists between the hydrogens of the imidazolium cation and the BF4- anion results in the BF4- salts being less solvated compared with salts containing BF6- and SbF6- anions. For imidazolium salts that contain C2H5, C4H9 and C8H17 side-chains bonded in the 1 and 3 positions, the interaction between H2 and the solvents was observed to be greater than for imidazolium salts with C16H33 substituents. The Neoproterozoic provides an important record of glacial–postglacial paleoenvironments, organic carbon cycling, and hydrocarbon accumulation. Here, to better understand the environmental, sedimentary, and petroleum geological potential of the Neoproterozoic, we summarize and review research on paleoenvironment and hydrocarbon prospectivity during the era for regions worldwide and also present a case study of the Marinoan postglacial Ediacaran Doushantuo Formation in the Sichuan Basin, upper Yangtze region, China. Sediments that were deposited during the Neoproterozoic postglaciations generally have hydrocarbon-generating potential. In some places, the sediments have reached stages of burial and thermal evolution appropriate for hydrocarbon generation, with some sites having been exploited for commercial production. In the Sichuan Basin, the distribution and thickness of Doushantuo Formation sediments were controlled by glacially eroded topography and/or extension-related subsidence. Abundant organic matter was produced through paleo-productivity (Ba/Al and Cu/Al proxies can reach up to 181.08 and 8.94, respectively) and anoxia (U-EF and Mo-EF proxies can reach up to 5.45 and 14.00, respectively) governed by marine transgression. In South China, many depocenters of the Doushantuo Formation sediments have a strip-shaped geometry in the plane and are expected to be prospective for oil and gas. The reported findings can be used as a reference for further studies of glacial and postglacial deposits with organic matter accumulation of the Neoproterozoic and other periods. With the development of display systems, artificial lighting, and fluorescent sensor, white light emission (WLE) materials have received great attention in recent years. Various organic and inorganic compounds have been synthesized to generate WLE. Natural products with WLE ability are attractive for their easy availability and cost effective. However, WLE from natural products are very rare and mainly realized by a complicated combination of two or three natural dyes emitting complementary lights. A single natural product molecule that can generate WLE has not yet been reported. Camptothecin (CPT) and its derivative 10-hydroxycamptothecin (HCPT) are natural products with anti-tumour activity and unique fluorescence properties. Here we demonstrated that CPT showed pH-dependent WLE properties. CPT can produce WLE in an acetic acid-ethanol mixture with 35% acetic acid fraction (V/V) under excitation at 360 nm. HCPT showed solvatochromism-dependent WLE properties and can easily generate WLE by adjusting the ratios of water/ethanol solution and showed an extremely close pure white fluorescence in a water-ethanol mixture with 5.7% water fraction (V/V). The corresponding Commission Internationale d'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates is (0.32, 0.34). Due to the remarkable excited-state acidity properties, the WLE efficiency of HCPT was extraordinarily high with a 31.72% quantum yield. HCPT also can produce WLE in triethylamine-ethanol solution and showed great CIE coordinates (0.31, 0.34) in 9.1% triethylamine fraction (V/V). Besides, we performed preliminary white fluorescent application of HCPT in polyvinyl alcohol films with good results. The WLE mechanisms of CPT and HCPT were also discussed. We hope our findings could inspire more WLE studies about CPT and its derivatives. Meanwhile, more single natural molecules with WLE properties could be discovered.
