The distribution of industrial heat sources (IHSs) is a crucial indicator for evaluating energy consumption and air pollution levels. However, there is a notable lack of IHS datasets in China that are frequently updated, span long periods, contain detailed characteristic information, have been individually validated and are publicly available. In this study, IHS datasets from China between 2012 and 2021 were constructed using the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) I Band 375 m NRT Active Fire/Hotspots (ACF) Product (VNP14IMGTDL_NRT) to monitor and analyse large‐scale IHSs. First, a density segmentation method based on an improved K‐means algorithm using ACF data and spatial topological correlation analysis was conducted to construct the IHS. Then, 4410 records covering China between 2012 and 2021, with 21 attributes, were obtained and verified, with an individual identification precision of 95.08% via manual verification based on high‐resolution remote‐sensing images and point of interest (POI) data. Finally, the trend of the spatiotemporal variation in IHSs was analysed using a long time series. The results showed that the spatial distribution of IHSs in China from 2012 to 2021 exhibited local aggregation and a gradual shift from east to west. In addition, the number of IHSs in China showed an initial increasing trend from 2012 to 2014, followed by a decrease since 2014, consistent with national energy reform‐related policies. The results of this study indicate the temporal variation in IHSs, enhance the precision of identifying fire location categories and demonstrate the potential for improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions and ensuring sustainable development in China. It is crucial to detect and classify industrial heat sources for sustainable industrial development. Sustainable Development Science Satellite 1 (SDGSAT-1) thermal infrared spectrometer (TIS) data were first introduced for detecting industrial heat source production areas to address the difficulty in identifying factories with low combustion temperatures and small scales. In this study, a new industrial heat source identification and classification model using SDGSAT-1 TIS and Landsat 8/9 Operational Land Imager (OLI) data was proposed to improve the accuracy and granularity of industrial heat source recognition. First, multiple features (thermal and optical features) were extracted using SDGSAT-1 TIS and Landsat 8/9 OLI data. Second, an industrial heat source identification model based on a support vector machine (SVM) and multiple features was constructed. Then, industrial heat sources were generated and verified based on the topological correlation between the identification results of the production areas and Google Earth images. Finally, the industrial heat sources were classified into six categories based on point-of-interest (POI) data. The new model was applied to the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH) region of China. The results showed the following: (1) Multiple features enhance the differentiation and identification accuracy between industrial heat source production areas and the background. (2) Compared to active-fire-point (ACF) data (375 m) and Landsat 8/9 thermal infrared sensor (TIRS) data (100 m), nighttime SDGSAT-1 TIS data (30 m) facilitate the more accurate detection of industrial heat source production areas. (3) Greater than 2~6 times more industrial heat sources were detected in the BTH region using our model than were reported by Ma and Liu. Some industrial heat sources with low heat emissions and small areas (53 thermal power plants) were detected for the first time using TIS data. (4) The production areas of cement plants exhibited the highest brightness temperatures, reaching 301.78 K, while thermal power plants exhibited the lowest brightness temperatures, averaging 277.31 K. The production areas and operational statuses of factories could be more accurately identified and monitored with the proposed approach than with previous methods. The cement industry, as one of the primary contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions, accounts for 7% of the world's carbon dioxide emissions. There is an urgent need to establish a rapid method for detecting cement plants to facilitate effective monitoring. In this study, a comprehensive method based on YOLOv5-IEG and the Thermal Signature Detection module using Google Earth optical imagery and SDGSAT-1 thermal infrared imagery was proposed to detect large-scale cement plant information, including geographic location and operational status. The improved algorithm demonstrated an increase of 4.8% in accuracy and a 7.7% improvement in MAP@.5:95. In a specific empirical investigation in China, we successfully detected 781 large-scale cement plants with an accuracy of 90.8%. Specifically, of the 55 cement plants in Shandong Province, we identified 46 as operational and nine as non-operational. The successful application of advanced models and remote sensing technology in efficiently and accurately tracking the operational status of cement plants provides crucial support for environmental protection and sustainable development. A system for itaconic acid synthesis from cellulose by Neurospora crassa was established, resulting in the highest yield of itaconic acid was 354.08 + 35.99 mg/L. Meanwhile, cellulase activity increased significantly, without any strain modifications for improved cellulase production. Multi-omics analyses showed that itaconic acid synthesis reduced energy production, leading to decreases in trehalose, cell wall, fatty acids synthesis and downregulations in MAPK signaling pathway, cell cycle and meiosis. More importantly, the low-energy environment enhanced the energy-efficient cellobionic acid/gluconic acid pathway, and the cellulase composition also changed significantly, manifested as the up-regulation of LPMOs and the down-regulation of β-glucosidases. Enhancing LPMOs-cellobionic acid/gluconic acid system has the potential to reduce energy consumption of the consolidated bioprocessing. These findings offer an overview of resource allocations by N. crassa in response to itaconic acid synthesis and highlight a series of intriguing connections between itaconic acid synthesis and cellulase synthesis in consolidated bioprocessing. • Sand is the largest land use type in Egypt. • The northern region of Egypt and the Nasser Reservoir exhibited different trends across the ecological functional zones. • Key land transfer patterns vary significantly between the ecological functional zones of the northern region of Egypt and the Nasser Reservoir. Evaluation the value of ecosystem services can provide crucial reference for formulating ecological protection plans and making informed management decision. This study utilized Landsat remote sensing images as the data source and employed land-use transfer chains and land use transfer matrix methods to compare the ecological effects of land use and land cover change(LUCC) in the two typical ecological functional zones of Egypt, one area isthe northern region of Egypt with the Priority function of Economic Development, another area is the Nasser Reservoir area with the priority function of water conservation. The key findings are as follows: (1)The northern region of Egypt and the Nasser Reservoir exhibited different trends across the ecological functional zones.From 1985 to 2020, the northern region of Egypt is characterized by an increase in arable land and impervious surface,the Nasser Reservoir area is distinguished by the expansion of water and a reduction in sand.(2) Key land transfer patterns vary significantly between the ecological functional zones of the northern region of Egypt and the Nasser Reservoir. From 1985 to 2020, the Egypt's northern region experienced significant shifts between arable land, sand, and impervious surfaces. The conversion of arable land to impervious surfaces represented 2.41% of the total arable land transfer area, while sand converted to impervious surfaces accounted for 11.68% of the total sand transfer area. In the Nasser Reservoir region, significant conversions occurred between water, grasslands, and sand. Sand converted to water made up 3.83% of the total sand transfer area, while grassland converted to water compriseed 5.38% of the total grassland transfer area. (3) The ecological benefits of the northern region of Egypt and the Nasser Reservoir have increased significantly. In northern region of Egypt, the primary drivers of this increase in ecological service value are the conversion of arable land and grasslands, along with the ecological development and utilization of sand. In the Nasser Reservoir area,the inflow of water and the continued outflow of sands are the main factors contributing to the rise in ecosystem service value. (4) Differentiated LUCC management should be implemented for different ecological functional zones. In northern region of Egypt, the focus should be on balancing ecological security with human development, while the Nasser Reservoir area should prioritize water resource protection and sustainable development. Objective: To evaluate the risk of ectopic pregnancy of embryo transfer. Design: A retrospective cohort study on the incidence of ectopic pregnancy in fresh and frozen–thawed embryo transfer cycles from January 1st, 2010, to January 1st, 2015. Patients: Infertile women undergoing frozen–thawed transfer cycles or fresh transfer cycles. Intervention: In-vitro fertilization, fresh embryo transfer, frozen–thawed embryo transfer, ectopic pregnancy. Main Outcome Measures: Ectopic pregnancy rate and clinical pregnancy rate. Result: A total of 69 756 in vitro fertilization–embryo transfer cycles from 2010 to 2015 were analyzed, including 45 960 (65.9%) fresh and 23 796 (34.1%) frozen–thawed embryo transfer cycles. The clinical pregnancy rate per embryo transfer was slightly lower in fresh embryo transfer cycles compared with frozen–thawed embryo transfer cycles (40.8% vs 43.1%, P < .001). Frozen–thawed embryo transfer is associated with a lower incidence of ectopic pregnancy per clinical pregnancy, compared with fresh embryo transfers (odds ratio = 0.31; 95% confidence interval = 0.24-0.39). Female age and body mass index have no influence on ectopic pregnancy. In the frozen–thawed embryo transfer cycles, blastocyst transfer shows a significantly lower incidence of ectopic pregnancy (0.8% vs 1.8%, P = .002) in comparison with day 3 cleavage embryo transfer. Conclusion: The risk of ectopic pregnancy is lower in frozen–thawed embryo transfer cycles than fresh embryo transfer cycles, and blastocyst transfer could further decrease the ectopic pregnancy rate in frozen–thawed embryo transfer cycles. The prevalent high-energy, high-pollution and high-emission economic model has led to significant air pollution challenges in recent years. The industrial sector in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH) region is a notable source of atmospheric pollutants, with industrial heat sources (IHSs) being primary contributors to this pollution. Effectively managing emissions from these sources is pivotal for achieving air pollution control goals in the region. A new three-stage model using multi-source long-term data was proposed to estimate atmospheric, delicate particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations caused by IHS. In the first stage, a region-growing algorithm was used to identify the IHS radiation areas. In the second and third stages, based on a seasonal trend decomposition procedure based on Loess (STL), multiple linear regression, and U-convLSTM models, IHS-related PM2.5 concentrations caused by meteorological and anthropogenic conditions were removed using long-term data from 2012 to 2021. Finally, this study analyzed the spatial and temporal variations in IHS-related PM2.5 concentrations in the BTH region. The findings reveal that PM2.5 concentrations in IHS radiation areas were higher than in background areas, with approximately 33.16% attributable to IHS activities. A decreasing trend in IHS-related PM2.5 concentrations was observed. Seasonal and spatial analyses indicated higher concentrations in the industrially dense southern region, particularly during autumn and winter. Moreover, a case study in Handan's She County demonstrated dynamic fluctuations in IHS-related PM2.5 concentrations, with notable reductions during periods of industrial inactivity. Our results aligned closely with previous studies and actual IHS operations, showing strong positive correlations with related industrial indices. This study's outcomes are theoretically and practically significant for understanding and addressing the regional air quality caused by IHSs, contributing positively to regional environmental quality improvement and sustainable industrial development. Toxic residues of the insecticide carbofuran in farmland is an urgent problem, and high concentrations of carbofuran have been found in the rhizoshperic soil of maize treated with seed coating agents 120–180 days after planting. Using an enrichment co-culture method, we identify a bacterial strain obtained from these carbofuran-contaminated rhizosphere soils as Leclercia adecarboxylata MCH-1. This strain exhibited a significant ability to degrade both carbofuran and 3-keto carbofuran, with total degradation of 55.6 ± 4.6% and 75.7 ± 3.4%, respectively, 24 h following start of co-culture. Further activity screening revealed that the inoculation of maize roots with L. adecarboxylata MCH-1 promoted maize seedling growth. Quantitative analysis demonstrated that this bacterial strain had the ability to synthesize the phytohormone IAA. Simultaneously, the concentration of IAA in the rhizospheric soil increased following inoculation of maize roots with L. adecarboxylata MCH-1. Moreover, the concentrations of plant specialized metabolites, including phenolics, terpenoids, and alkaloids, decreased in maize seedlings and were elevated in the rhizospheric soil after maize roots had been inoculated with the MCH-1 strain. Interestingly, the growth of the strain MCH-1 was improved by co-culture with root exudates obtained from the rhizospheric soil, specifically 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, and zealexin A 1 (ZA 1). Taken together, our results suggest that the carbofuran-degrading rhizobacterium L. adecarboxylata MCH-1 is able to interact with maize plants through the regulation of maize root exudates. Moreover, inoculation with L. adecarboxylata MCH-1 promotes maize growth through the production of IAA and regulation of the release of plant specialized metabolites. Our results provide a new model organism for the remediation of farmland soils from pollution with carbofuran residues. With the rapid development of satellite remote sensing technology and an ever-increasing number of Earth observation satellites being launched, the global volume of remotely sensed imagery has been growing exponentially. Processing the variety of remotely sensed data has increasingly been complex and difficult. It is also hard to efficiently and intelligently retrieve what users need from a massive database of images. This paper introduces an improved support vector machine (SVM) model, which optimizes the model parameters and selects the feature subset based on the particle swarm optimization (PSO) method and genetic algorithm (GA) for remote sensing image retrieval. Abstract: The Qinling Mountains provide a natural boundary between the north and south parts in China, and support a huge variety of plants and wildlife. However, the research on the vegetation history of Qinling forests has remained a blank. In order to choose the most suitable tree species to restore the Qinling forests, it is necessary to carry out studies on the history of forest vegetation in the area. Swamp sediments of mountain basins can store pollen from different historical periods in various levels. Through research on the deposition age of particular sediments in different levels and the characteristics of the pollen assemblage, we can understand the history of the forest vegetation in the area and further provide the scientific basis for the proper management of forests. In this paper, we have divided the vegetation history and climatic variations in the Qinling Mountains into four stages based on the pollen analysis and 14C age determination of a swamp sediment profile of mountain basins at an altitude of 2200 m as well as the pollen analysis on surface soil. In Stage 1 (18,715–7629 cal BP), the vegetation was composed of Abies and Picea. The climate was cold and humid. In Stage 2 (7629–3131 cal BP), the vegetation was dominantly Abies, Picea, Betula, Quercus and Alnus. The climate was warm and humid. During Stage 3 (3131–50 cal BP), the vegetation was dominantly Abies. The climate was cold and humid. During Stage 4 (0–50 cal BP), the vegetation was dominantly Betula, Quercus, Corylus, Alnus, and Tsuga, with fewer Pinus as well as groups of Abies. The climate was warm and dry. There is a noticeable decrease of Abies and Picea in accordance with a climate change from cold and humid to warm and dry. We also noticed an increase of Betula, Quercus, Corylus, Alnus, and Tsuga, which prefer warm and dry environments. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the feasibility and value of abdominal ultrasound guided access for transvaginal hydrolaparoscopy (THL). Study design: One hundred and ninety-three infertile women were retrospectively included. A total of 31 subjects were included in the study group, and 162 cases performed prior to the introduction of transabdominal ultrasound guidance constituted a comparison group. The indications for THL were: inconclusive hysterosalpingogram findings and ovarian drilling for clomiphene-resistant polycystic ovarian disease. The total of complications arising from trocar needle insertions are compared between the study (ultrasound guidance) and comparison (without ultrasound guidance) groups. Results: In the study group, two cases were transferred to standard laparoscopy without vaginal needle insertion because of no obvious fluid in the cul-de-sac. One of these cases was confirmed to have severe adhesions and the other had no pathology in the pelvic cavity. One further case was transferred due to severe adhesions found by THL. Twenty-nine patients had successful vaginal access including seven cases with a retroverted uterus (24.1%), as against only one case with retroverted uterus in the comparison group (0.6%). The difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). There were three cases of intestinal perforation and one case of uterine injury in the comparison group, but no case of complication in the study group. Fifteen cases were fully conducted by two novel medical doctors monitored by a senior doctor. Conclusions: Trans-abdominal ultrasound guided vaginal access increases the safety of THL, especially in patients with a retroverted uterus, by seeking out a better puncture spot, and making training more intuitive and safe. Industrial heat sources have made a great contribution to Chinese economic development. However, it has also been found that emissions from industrial heat sources are the main contribution to regional air pollution. Therefore, the detection of industrial heat sources and the expression of related information is becoming important. In this paper, the detection of industrial heat sources was used to express industrial information, thus that the accuracy of the detection of industrial thermal anomalies could be improved and the problems of noise and missing parameters addressed. A model for expressing industrial information based on object-oriented industrial heat sources and using multi-source thermal anomaly data in China was, therefore, proposed. It was a new real-time, objective, and real way to describe the production operation status of industrial heat sources on a large-scale area. First, 4340 working industrial heat sources in mainland China were detected by applying an adaptive k-means algorithm to ACF (NPP VIIRS 375-m active fire/hotspot data) data from the period 19 January 2012 to 31 December 2020. Secondly, several features of working industrial heat sources were extracted from NPP VIIRS 375-m active fire/hotspot data (ACF), VIIRS Nightfire data (VNF), and the Fires product based on Landsat-8 AIRCAS (L8F) data. Areas containing working industrial heat sources were then identified based on these different types of fire data. Light, land-surface temperature, and CO2 and N2O emissions data related to the working industrial heat sources were also extracted. Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of a 2-month treatment with a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist prior to in-vitro fertilization in Chinese women with moderate or severe endometriosis. Methods: A study of 162 women surgically diagnosed as having moderate or severe endometriosis. Pituitary down-regulation was achieved with injections of a GnRH agonist prior to the IVF procedures either for 7 to 10 days in the mid-luteal phase (group 1 [standard protocol], 97 cycles in total), or for 2 months (group 2, 55 cycles), or 3 months (group 3, 75 cycles). Results: Women pretreated with a GnRH agonist for 2 or 3 months required significantly higher doses of gonadotropin for ovarian stimulation (P <0.001), and for a longer time, than those treated with the standard long protocol (P <0.05). The number of oocytes and good embryos was lower in group 3 than in groups 1 or 2 (P <0.05). The implantation rate was significantly higher in group 2 than in group 1 (P <0.02). Conclusion: A 2-month treatment with a GnRH agonist prior to IVF produced a trend toward an increase in the implantation rate in a group of Chinese women with stages III and IV endometriosis. Objective: To evaluate the value of transvaginal hydrolaparoscopy (THL) in infertile women with abnormal hysterosalpingogram results but with no history of previous pelvic surgery and with normal gynecological examination and vaginal sonography. Study Design: This is a retrospective study. From January 2008 to October 2009, 51 infertile women were planned to undergo standard laparoscopy because of abnormal HSG. None of the patients had any history of previous pelvic surgery and all had normal findings on gynecological examination and vaginal sonography. These women underwent THL. Results: Among the 51 cases, successful access to the pouch of Douglas was achieved in 49. There were two failures due to obesity, and the operation was converted to standard laparoscopy. No complication was observed in this study period. In 26 patients (53.1%) the THL procedure showed normal pelvic organs. Four patients were lost to follow-up. Of the remaining 22 cases, four became pregnant (4/22, 18.2%) through intercourse or intrauterine insemination (IUI). There were some morphologic abnormalities seen in the remaining 23 patients such as adhesions, endometriosis and hydrosalpinx. Six cases with mild adhesions and endometriosis were treated with THL alone, and four (4/6, 66.7%) became pregnant with or without IUI. Among the 19 who underwent standard laparoscopy, three were lost to follow-up. In the other 16 cases, natural pregnancy occurred in six (6/16, 37.5%) patients with or without IUI. Conclusions: For women with abnormal HSG results but with no obvious pelvic pathology, THL should be recommended and about 50% could avoid an unnecessary laparoscopy. Adhesiolysis and coagulation of endometriotic lesions under THL in mild adhesion and endometriosis cases could lead to encouraging results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Heavy industrial burning contributes significantly to the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It is responsible for almost one-quarter of the global energy-related CO2 emissions and its share continues to grow. Mostly, those industrial emissions are accompanied by a great deal of high-temperature heat emissions from the combustion of carbon-based fuels by steel, petrochemical, or cement plants. Fortunately, these industrial heat emission sources treated as thermal anomalies can be detected by satellite-borne sensors in a quantitive way. However, most of the dominant remote sensing-based fire detection methods barely work well for heavy industrial heat source discernment. Although the object-oriented approach, especially the data clustering-based approach, has guided a novel method of detection, it is still limited by the costly computation and storage resources. Furthermore, when scaling to a national, or even global, long time-series detection, it is greatly challenged by the tremendous computation introduced by the incredible large-scale data clustering of tens of millions of high-dimensional fire data points. Therefore, we proposed an improved parallel identification method with geocoded, task-tree-based, large-scale clustering for the spatial-temporal distribution analysis of industrial heat emitters across the United States from long time-series active Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) data. A recursive k-means clustering method is introduced to gradually segment and cluster industrial heat objects. Furthermore, in order to avoid the blindness caused by random cluster center initialization, the time series VIIRS hotspots data are spatially pre-grouped into GeoSOT-encoded grid tasks which are also treated as initial clustering objects. In addition, some grouped parallel clustering strategy together with geocoding-aware task tree scheduling is adopted to sufficiently exploit parallelism and performance optimization. Then, the spatial-temporal distribution pattern and its changing trend of industrial heat emitters across the United States are analyzed with the identified industrial heat sources. The heavy industry in India has witnessed rapid development in the past decades. This has increased the pressures and load on the Indian environment, and has also had a great impact on the world economy. In this study, the Preparatory Project Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer (NPP VIIRS) 375-m active fire product (VNP14IMG) and night-time light (NTL) data were used to study the spatiotemporal patterns of heavy industrial development in India. We employed an improved adaptive K-means algorithm to realize the spatial segmentation of long-term VNP14IMG data and artificial heat-source objects. Next, the initial heavy industry heat sources were distinguished from normal heat sources using a threshold recognition model. Finally, the maximum night-time light data were used to delineate the final heavy industry heat sources. The results suggest, that this modified method is a much more accurate and effective way of monitoring heavy industrial heat sources, and the accuracy of this detection model was higher than 92.7%. The number of main findings were concluded from the study: (1) the heavy industry heat sources are mainly concentrated in the north-east Assam state, east-central Jharkhand state, north Chhattisgarh and Odisha states, and the coastal areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Many heavy industrial heat sources were also found around a line from Kolkata on the Eastern Indian Ocean to Mumbai on the Western Indian Ocean. (2) The number of working heavy industry heat sources (NWH) and, particularly, the total number of fire hotspots for each working heavy industry heat source area (NFHWH) are continuing to increase in India. These trends mirror those for the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and total population of India between 2012 and 2017. (3) The largest values of NWH and NFHWH were in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha whereas the smallest negative values, the S l o p e _ N W H in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh were also the two largest values in the whole country. The smallest negative values of S l o p e _ N W H and S l o p e _ N F H W H were in Haryana. Class imbalance is a key issue for the application of deep learning for remote sensing image classification because a model generated by imbalanced samples training has low classification accuracy for minority classes. In this study, an accurate classification approach using the multistage sampling method and deep neural networks was proposed to classify imbalanced data. We first balance samples by multistage sampling to obtain the training sets. Then, a state-of-the-art model is adopted by combining the advantages of atrous spatial pyramid pooling (ASPP) and Encoder-Decoder for pixel-wise classification, which are two different types of fully convolutional networks (FCNs) that can obtain contextual information of multiple levels in the Encoder stage. The details and spatial dimensions of targets are restored using such information during the Decoder stage. We employ four deep learning-based classification algorithms (basic FCN, FCN-8S, ASPP, and Encoder-Decoder with ASPP of our approach) on multistage training sets (original, MUS1, and MUS2) of WorldView-3 images in southeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and GF-2 images in northeastern Beijing for comparison. The experiments show that, compared with existing sets (original, MUS1, and identical) and existing method (cost weighting), the MUS2 training set of multistage sampling significantly enhance the classification performance for minority classes. Objective: This retrospective study aimed to assess the impact of hysteroscopic septum incision on in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes among infertile women diagnosed with a complete septate uterus and no history of recurrent pregnancy loss. Methods: The study was conducted at a tertiary reproductive center affiliated with a university hospital and involved 78 women with a complete septate uterus. Among them, 34 women underwent hysteroscopic septum incision, while 44 women opted for expectant management. The primary outcome measure was the live birth rate, while secondary outcomes included clinical pregnancy rate, preterm birth rate, miscarriage rate, and ongoing pregnancy rate. Results: Women who underwent hysteroscopic septum incision demonstrated a comparable likelihood of achieving a live birth compared to those managed expectantly (25% vs. 25%, Relative Risk (RR): 1.000, 95% Confidence Interval (CI): 0.822 to 1.216). No preterm births occurred in either group. The clinical pregnancy rate, ongoing pregnancy rate, and miscarriage rate showed no significant differences between the surgical group and the expectant management group. Subgroup analyses based on the type of embryo transferred also revealed no significant differences in outcomes. To evaluate the preterm delivery and other obstetrics complications similar in singleton pregnancies achieved through IVF compared to spontaneous pregnancies. Retrospective case-control study included 1663 women with singleton pregnancies following IVF-ICSI (study group) and 3326 women with singleton spontaneous pregnancies (control group) who delivered between January 2015 and January 2018 at the Peking University Third Hospital. The control group matched 1:2 by age, BMI, parity, and gravidity. Maternal outcomes included preterm delivery and complications. There was significantly higher incidence of gestational diabetes, hypertensive disorders, and placenta previa in IVF-ICSI pregnancies versus controls (p <.05). IVF-ICSI resulted in significantly higher rate of preterm birth than in spontaneous pregnancies (p <.05) and the difference remained significant for deliveries that occurred before 28, 32, and 34 weeks gestation (p <.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that female-factor infertility, hypertensive disorder, placenta previa, and PROM were significant prognostic factors associated with increased risk of prematurity. IVF-ICSI is associated with increased risk of obstetric complications including preterm delivery in singleton pregnancies. Female-factor infertility is an independent prognostic factor for preterm birth. Background: Differentially expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) and their target mRNAs may lead to alterations in normal physiological status of the tissues and initiate pathological processes. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of the most relevant miRNAs in the eutopic endometrial tissue during the window of implantation in women with endometriosis-related infertility. Methods: In the study, 76 infertile women with a regular menstrual cycle were recruited from the Center for Reproductive Medicine, Peking University Third Hospital between January 2014 and June 2016. We performed a combined messenger RNA and miRNA microarray and bioinformatics analysis of eutopic endometrium in 6 women with and without endometriosis-related infertility at the time of implantation window. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction arrays were utilized to examine the expression levels of selected miRNAs (from 35 patients with endometriosis and 35 disease-free individuals at different menstrual stages). Results: Five differentially expressed miRNAs (miR-142-5p, miR-146a-5p, miR-1281, miR-940, and miR-4634) were significantly upregulated, whereas miR-543 was significantly downregulated in the eutopic endometrium during the window of implantation in patients with endometriosis. Further analysis showed that miR-543 was significantly upregulated at the peri-implantation phase compared with that at proliferative phase in the endometrium of disease-free patients (P <.05). However, the expression level of miR-543 was significantly decreased in patients with endometriosis (P <.05), especially downregulated at the window of implantation phase (P <.05). Conclusions: miR-543 plays an important role during embryo implantation process and is associated with endometrial receptivity. Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device (LNG-IUD) during controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) in patients with early-stage endometrioid endometrial cancer (EEC). Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients with stage IA1 EEC who achieved complete response after fertility-sparing treatment from December 2018 to December 2021, with all the women who underwent COS having LNG-IUDs inserted in their uterine cavity. Results: 16 patients were enrolled who underwent 26 COS cycles and average age was 33.19 ± 4.04 years. 12 patients had 19 subsequent frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycles. Among the other four patients, no embryos were obtained in 1 patient, 1 patient got pregnancy spontaneously with term delivery after COS, 1 patient relapsed before FET, and 1 patient did not receive embryo transfer for personal reason. Among 19 FET cycles, the clinical pregnancy and live birth rates in each ET cycle were 36.84% (7/19) and 26.32% (5/19), respectively. 7 clinical pregnancies resulted in 2 miscarriages (28.6%), and 5 live births (71.4%). Totally 6 patients achieved 7 live births, and the cumulative live birth rate was 37.5% (6/16). Three (18.75%) out of 16 patients relapsed after COS during the follow-up period (31.31 ± 15.89 months) and two of them were initially diagnosed with moderately differentiated EEC. Time interval from COS to relapse was 6.63,11.67 and 16.23 months, respectively. Conclusion: The combination of LNG-IUD treatment and segmented IVF may be a viable treatment strategy to improve oncological and reproductive outcomes for patients with early-stage EEC. To explore the association between uterine volume and in vitro fertilization (IVF) reproductive outcomes of infertile patients with adenomyosis, we performed a retrospective cohort study of infertile patients with adenomyosis who underwent IVF from January 2009 to December 2019 in our clinical center. Patients were divided into five groups according to the uterine volume before the IVF cycle. A line graph was drawn to demonstrate the linear trend of IVF reproductive outcomes with uterine volume. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to explore the association between uterine volume of adenomyosis patients and IVF reproductive outcomes in first fresh embryo transfer (ET) cycle, first frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycle, and per ET cycle. Kaplan–Meier curves and Cox regression were conducted to evaluate the association between uterine volume and cumulative live birth. A total of 1155 infertile patients with adenomyosis were included. Clinical pregnancy rate showed no significant correlation with uterine volume in first fresh ET cycle, first FET cycle, and per ET cycle; miscarriage rate showed an upward trend with uterine volume increasement, in which the uterine volume turning point was 8 weeks of gestation; live birth rate showed a downward trend with turning point of 10 weeks of gestation. Subsequently, patients were divided into two groups (uterine volume ≤ 8 weeks of gestation vs. uterine volume > 8 weeks of gestation). Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that patients with a uterus larger than 8 weeks of gestation had a higher miscarriage rate and a lower live birth rate in all ET cycles. Kaplan–Meier curves and Cox regression demonstrated lower cumulative live birth rate in patients with a uterine volume larger than 8 weeks of gestation. IVF reproductive outcome gets worse as uterine volume increases in infertile patients with adenomyosis. 3-Ketosteroid-∆-dehydrogenase (KstD), a key enzyme in microbial steroid catabolism, catalyzes the trans-axial elimination of the C1 and C2 hydrogen atoms of the A-ring from the polycyclic ring structure of 3-ketosteroids, and it was usually used to transform androst-4-ene-3,17-dione (AD) to produce androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-dione. Here, the KstD from Gordonia neofelifaecis was expressed efficiently in Escherichia coli. E. coli cells expressing KstD were subjected to the investigation of dehydrogenation activity for different steroids. The results showed that KstD has a clear preference for steroid substrates with 3-keto-4-ene configuration, and it exhibits higher activity towards steroid substrates carrying a small or no aliphatic side chain than towards substrates having a bulky side chain at the C-17 atom. The recombinant strain could efficiently convert androst-4,9(11)-dien-3,17-dione into androst-1,4,9(11)-trien-3,17-dione (with conversion rate of 96%). 1(2)-Dehydrogenation of androst-4,9(11)-dien-3,17-dione is one of the key steps in glucocorticoid production. Compressive sensing has emerged as a promising technique for signal processing. Most of the existing reconstruction methods cannot describe the sparsity of an image in different transform domains simultaneously, which results in an instability performance for images. In this paper, a new model based on compressive sensing is developed to describe the sparsity of an image in different transform domains simultaneously. The parameters of the a priori regularization terms, including the structural redundant information of wavelet coefficient, gradient coefficient and nonlocal mean, are adjusted adaptively to balance the influence of each corresponding constraint in the model. Some approximate substitutions are introduced to reduce the computational complexity. In addition, a two-step solution is proposed, in which an approximate image is reconstructed rapidly by picking parts of the constraints of the model. Then, an enhanced reconstruction performance can be achieved by adding the constraint of nonlocal mean. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method provides better performance in both peak signal-to-noise ratio and visual quality with a relatively fast convergence rate, especially at the low sample ratio. Homogeneous and secondary nuclei (HN and SN) are aggregates formed at different stages of whey protein isolate (WPI) self-assembly. More fibrils can form when HN/SN are added as nuclei than when WPI self-assembles. We evaluated the effect of hydrolysis treatment on fibril-induction ability of nuclei derived from WPI, and investigated the relationship between induction ability and nuclear structure. Hydrolyzed SN-induced 9.47% more WPI fibrils than unhydrolyzed SN-induced. Infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and atomic force microscopy were used to examine the structural changes in hydrolyzed nuclei and the fibrils induced using these nuclei. We concluded that hydrolysis treatment led to a looser inter-β-sheet packaging in nuclei by increasing the inter-β-sheet distance. The inter-β-sheet distance of cross-β structure was a key determinant of fibril-induction ability of nuclei, which could be enhanced when inter-β-sheet structure was moderately loose. The peach aphid Tuberocephalus momonis seriously damages leaves and forms galls in the peach species Prunus persica f. rubro-plena , P. persica , and P. davidiana. Leaves bearing galls formed by these aphids will be abscised at least two months earlier than the healthy leaves on the same tree. Thus, we hypothesize that gall development is likely to be governed by phytohormones involved in normal organogenesis. The soluble sugar content was positively correlated between gall tissues and fruits, suggesting that the galls are sink organs. The results of UPLC-MS/MS analysis showed that higher concentrations of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) accumulated in both the gall-forming aphids, the galls themselves and the fruits of peach species than in healthy leaves, suggesting that BAP was being synthesized by the insects to stimulate the establishment of a gall. A significant increase in the concentrations of abscisic acid (ABA) in fruits and jasmonic acid (JA) in gall tissues indicated that these plants are defending from the galls. The concentrations of 1-amino-cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) significantly increased in gall tissues compared with healthy leaves, and were positively correlated with both fruit and gall development. In addition, transcriptome sequencing analysis revealed that during gall abscission, differentially expressed genes in both 'ETR-SIMKK-ERE1' and 'ABA-PYR/PYL/RCAR-PP2C-SnRK2' were significantly enriched during gall abscission. Our results showed that ethylene pathway was involved in the abscission of gall, and this gall abscission allowed the host plants to protect themselves from the gall-forming insects, at least partially. What is the effect of adenomyosis types on IVF and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) after ultra-long gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist protocol? Patients who underwent the first cycle of IVF-ET with ultra-long GnRH agonist protocol were included in this retrospective cohort study. They were divided into three groups: (A) 428 patients with diffuse adenomyosis; (B) 718 patients with focal adenomyosis; and (C) 519 patients with tubal infertility. Reproduction outcomes were analysed. Logistic regression analysis revealed that, compared with focal adenomyosis and tubal infertility, diffuse adenomyosis was negatively associated with clinical pregnancy and live birth (clinical pregnancy: A versus B: OR 0.708, 95% CI 0.539 to 0.931, P = 0.013; A versus C: OR 0.663, 95% CI 0.489 to 0.899, P = 0.008; live birth: A versus B: OR 0.530, 95% CI 0.385 to 0.730, P < 0.001; A versus C: OR 0.441, 95% CI 0.313 to 0.623, P < 0.001), but positively associated with miscarriage (A versus B: OR 1.727, 95% CI 1.056 to 2.825, P = 0.029; A versus C: OR 2.549, 95% CI 1.278 to 5.082, P = 0.008). Compared with patients with tubal infertility, focal adenomyosis was also a risk factor for miscarriage (B versus C: OR 1.825, 95% CI 1.112 to 2.995, P = 0.017). Anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from bottom-up inventories have high uncertainties due to the usage of proxy data in creating these inventories. To evaluate bottom-up inventories, satellite observations of atmospheric CO2 with continuously improved accuracies have shown great potential. In this study, we evaluate the consistency and uncertainty of four gridded CO2 emission inventories, including CHRED, PKU, ODIAC, and EDGAR that have been commonly used to study emissions in China, using GOSAT and OCO-2 satellite observations of atmospheric column-averaged dry-air mole fraction of CO2 (XCO2). The evaluation is carried out using two data-driven approaches: (1) quantifying the correlations of the four inventories with XCO2 anomalies derived from the satellite observations; (2) comparing emission inventories with emissions predicted by a machine learning-based model that considers the nonlinearity between emissions and XCO2. The model is trained using long-term datasets of XCO2 and emission inventories from 2010 to 2019. The result shows that the inconsistencies among these four emission inventories are significant, especially in areas of high emissions associated with large XCO2 values. In particular, EDGAR shows a larger difference to CHRED over super-emitting sources in China. The differences for ODIAC and EDGAR, when compared with the machine learning-based model, are higher in Asia than those in the USA and Europe. The predicted emissions in China are generally lower than the inventories, especially in megacities. The biases depend on the magnitude of inventory emissions with strong positive correlations with emissions (R2 is larger than 0.8). On the contrary, the predicted emissions in the USA are slightly higher than the inventories and the biases tend to be random (R2 is from 0.01 to 0.5). These results indicate that the uncertainties of gridded emission inventories of ODIAC and EDGAR are higher in Asian countries than those in European and the USA. This study demonstrates that the top-down approach using satellite observations could be applied to quantify the uncertainty of emission inventories and therefore improve the accuracy in spatially and temporally attributing national/regional totals inventories. Amyloid fibrils have many excellent functional properties that facilitate their applications in the food industry. There are 2 pathways for whey protein concentrate (WPC) to form amyloid fibril aggregates: spontaneous pathway and nuclear induction pathway. Low ionic strength is a necessary condition for the spontaneous pathway to proceed successfully. In this paper, the effect of salt ions on 2 WPC fibrillation pathways was investigated by adding CaCl 2. The results demonstrated WPC fibrils were unable to form normally through spontaneous pathway as adding CaCl 2 ; but still could form through nuclear induction pathway with 20 to 30 m M CaCl 2 , the nuclei accelerated the fibrillation process led to the resistance to the disordered aggregation brought by CaCl 2. Moreover, divalent cations (Ca2+, Mg2+) had much stronger effects than monovalent cations (Na+) on fibril formation, and the results of X-ray photoelectron spectrum together with Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy suggested that Ca2+ had a greater effect on the fibril formation than Cl−. Objective: To investigate the risk factors for intraperitoneal bleeding following transvaginal oocyte retrieval (TVOR).Methods: Retrospective review of records from patients who underwent TVOR between 2004 and 2008. Patients who had mild and severe intraperitoneal bleeding were compared with the same number of patients without intraperitoneal bleeding (control group) who underwent oocyte retrieval on the same day performed by the same doctor as those who experienced bleeding.Results: Of 10251 retrieval cycles performed, 22 (0.2%) patients had intraperitoneal bleeding. Five (0.05%) patients with severe bleeding underwent laparotomy or laparoscopy, while 17 patients were managed conservatively for mild bleeding. Among patients with no bleeding, mild bleeding, or severe bleeding, there were significant differences in body mass index (P<0.02) and number of oocytes retrieved (P<0.01), while no differences were seen for age and pregnancy rate.Conclusion: Patients with severe intraperitoneal bleeding had a lower body mass index, a history of surgery, were younger, and had a moderate ovarian response; those with mild bleeding were young and had a high ovarian response. The berries of Lycium barbarum L. (Goji) are widely used as a Chinese traditional herbal medicine and functional food because of their reported beneficial pharmacological effects. However, there are reports of Goji berries being contaminated by chemical residues that could pose a hazard to humans. In this study, samples of L. barbarum L. berries were collected from plantations in a genuine production area and supermarkets in Ningxia, China. The major hazardous chemicals, including pesticides (dichlorvos, omethoate, cypermethrin, fenvalerate, malathion, and deltamethrin) and metals (lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), zinc (Zn), and arsenic (As)), were quantified by gas chromatography and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry. In addition, associated daily exposures and health risks were determined using deterministic and probabilistic assessments. The levels of five pesticides from the plantation samples were considerably lower than the maximum residue limits; only dichlorvos was detected in the supermarket samples, and deltamethrin was not detected in any samples. Cu, Zn, As, Pb, Ni and Cd were detected in samples from both sources. The hazard quotient values of individual hazardous chemicals and the hazard index of combined hazardous chemicals were considerably less than 1, indicating the absence of a non-carcinogenic effect of hazardous chemical exposures through Goji berry consumption. The R value of As was much less than 10–6, which shows that consumption of the Goji berries had no obvious carcinogenic risks. The potentially harmful effects of the L. barbarum L. are more likely from berries obtained from plantations than those from supermarkets, and metal exposure is more dangerous than pesticide exposure. However, on the basis of our analysis, no population would be exposed hazardous chemicals exceeding existing standards, and the factors most affecting the health risk were exposure frequency and As content. Protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7) expression has been reported to be dysregulated and to regulate various cellular activities in numerous types of cancer. However, to the best of our knowledge, the status and role of PTK7 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains largely unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the involvement of PTK7 in OSCC progression and to determine the potential underlying mechanisms of action. The expression levels of PTK7 and dishevelled segment polarity protein 3 (DVL3) in OSCC cell lines were analyzed using reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and western blotting. A co-immunoprecipitation assay was used to verify the binding association between PTK7 and DVL3. In addition, OSCC cells were transfected with a short hairpin RNA targeting PTK7 or pcDNA-DVL3 overexpression vectors. The effect of PTK7 on OSCC cell viability, proliferation, migration and invasion, and the underlying mechanisms, were investigated using Cell Counting Kit-8, colony formation, wound healing and Transwell assays, respectively. Western blotting was used to analyze the expression levels of proliferation- and migration-associated proteins. The results revealed that the expression levels of both PTK7 and DVL3 were significantly upregulated in OSCC cell lines. In addition, a binding association was identified between PTK7 and DVL3 in SCC-9 cells. The knockdown of PTK7 expression inhibited OSCC cell viability, proliferation, invasion and migration, while the overexpression of DVL3 reversed the inhibitory effects of PTK7-knockdown on OSCC cells. In conclusion, the results of the present study suggested that PTK7 may be a key regulator of OSCC proliferation, migration and invasion, and PTK7-knockdown may inhibit OSCC cell viability, proliferation, invasion and migration by downregulating DVL3 expression. This study aimed to examine the effects of adding growth hormone (GH) into the in vitro maturation (IVM) culture medium of mouse oocytes on pregnancy outcomes. Cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) were cultured in a medium with (GH group, 100 ng/mL) or without (Con group) GH. Thereafter, chromosome morphology, spindle morphology, and mitochondrial function were examined. Embryo development and blastocyst quality after in vitro fertilization were evaluated. After the embryo transfer, the implantation sites and pregnancy outcomes were evaluated. The oocyte maturation rate of the GH group (81.8 ± 9.6%) was compared to that of the Con group (81.3 ± 6.9%, P = 0.928). The proportion of morphologically abnormal spindles in GH-treated oocytes (7.1 ± 0.9%) was significantly lower than control oocytes (13.7 ± 1.3%, P = 0.032), whereas the proportion of morphologically abnormal chromosomes and mitochondrial distribution was similar between the groups. The mitochondrial membrane potential (P < 0.001) and ATP concentration (P < 0.001) in GH-exposed oocytes were higher than those in control oocytes. After fertilization, the blastocyst rate in the GH group (33.8 ± 13.2%) was significantly higher than the Con group (16.2 ± 2.0%, P = 0.003). In addition, inner cell mass (ICM) number (13.91 ± 3.48 vs. 7.00 ± 1.91, P < 0.001), total cell number (47.45 ± 8.39 vs. 37.71 ± 4.15, P = 0.007), and the ratio of ICM/total cell number (29.9 ± 8.2% vs. 18.6 ± 5.0%, P = 0.002) of blastocyst were all higher in GH group. The implantation rate (71.2 ± 1.9% vs. 39.4 ± 16.4%, P < 0.001) and litter size (8.50 ± 3.99 vs. 3.00 ± 1.22, P = 0.018) were significantly higher in the GH group. Although addition of GH into IVM culture medium does not improve oocyte maturation rate, it improves oocyte and embryo quality, which leads to better embryo development and pregnancy outcomes. What is the relationship between uterine volume before frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) and reproductive outcomes among adenomyosis patients? Clinical characteristics and outcomes of adenomyosis patients undergoing IVF and FET in a tertiary academic hospital were retrospectively analysed. Only first blastocyst transfer cycles were included. The main outcome measures included clinical pregnancy rate (CPR), miscarriage rate and live birth rate (LBR). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis indicated that uterine volume before FET was negatively related to LBR, with area under the curve of 0.622 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.531–0.712, P = 0.012). The cut-off value for the curve was 98.81 cm3. Grouped by the cut-off of uterine volume, 83 women were included in group A (≤98.81 cm3) and 75 in group B (>98.81 cm3). No significant difference was found in CPR between two groups. Compared with group A, the incidence of miscarriage in group B was significantly increased (51.28% versus 16.28%, P = 0.001). LBR in group B was markedly lower than in group A (25.33% versus 43.37%, P = 0.020). Logistic regression analysis revealed that, after adjusting for potential confounders, uterine volume before FET was not associated with CPR (odds ratio [OR] 1.149, 95% CI 0.577–2.286, P = 0.693) but was positively related to miscarriage rate (OR 8.509, 95% CI 2.290–2.575, P = 0.001). Adenomyosis patients with larger uterine volume (>98.81 cm3) before FET might have a lower LBR due to higher incidence of miscarriage. A high‐level reverse intersystem crossing (HL‐RISC, T2 → S1 → S0 + hν) process has recently been discovered as a promising route for achieving highly efficient organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs), but the prerequisites for the occurrence of HL‐RISC in rubrene is still vague and the reported external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) of rubrene‐doped OLEDs are typically limited to several percent. Herein, using the fingerprint magneto‐electroluminescence tools, it is found that the energy confinement of high‐lying triplet states (T2, rub) is of great importance for the achievement of the HL‐RISC process. Namely, when the triplet energies of hosts satisfy the criterion of E(T1, host) ≥ E(T2, rub), the high‐level Dexter energy transfer channel (T1, host → T2, rub) can facilitate the occurrence of HL‐RISC (T2, rub → S1, rub) in rubrene. Most importantly, through selecting an exciplex with a high triplet energy as the co‐host for rubrene dopant so as to simultaneously utilize the HL‐RISC of the dopant and the RISC of the host, a record high EQE up to 16.1% is achieved and no obvious efficiency roll‐off is observed at high luminance due to the absence of triplet‐charge annihilation. Accordingly, this work not only deepens the physical understanding of this amazing HL‐RISC channel, but also provides a new direction for designing a series of highly efficient OLEDs. The study was to evaluate the in vitro fertilization–embryo transfer (IVF-ET) outcomes in women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) after pretreatment with growth hormone (GH). Retrospective propensity score matching study, which included 92 women received GH over 4 weeks pretreatment before their subsequent IVF cycles and 92 matched controls who underwent IVF cycles between July 2017 and August 2018. The evaluation parameters included ovarian response, embryological parameters, and pregnancy outcomes after embryo transfer (ET). The mean number of retrieved oocytes and transferable day-3 embryos were significantly higher after GH pretreatment. The implantation rate, clinical pregnancy rate, and ongoing pregnancy rate per fresh ET cycle were similar between the GH group and control group. In women who either achieved pregnancy or utilized all the embryos resulting from the index stimulation cycle, the cumulative clinical pregnancy rate was significantly higher in women with GH compared to the control group. 4 weeks pretreatment with GH could increase ovarian response to stimulation and then improved IVF-ET outcomes in women with DOR. What is the best intervention time and method for patients who are diagnosed with heterotopic caesarean scar pregnancy (HCSP) wishing to preserve intrauterine pregnancy. Four patients diagnosed with HCSP from January 2014 to May 2019 were enrolled. Because HCSP is rare, data on 27 published cases were extracted to augment the analysis. Clinical characteristics and medical documents related to fetal reduction and subsequent maternal–neonate outcomes were analysed. The intervention time was significantly earlier in the full-term birth group (6.76 ± 1.05 weeks) compared with pre-term birth group (8.02 ± 1.55 weeks; P = 0.042). The cumulative full-term delivery rate was 91.48% when the intervention was at 6 weeks' gestation and decreased to 42.02% at 8 weeks. The maternal–neonate outcome was similar among the selective fetal reduction and surgical removal groups as was delivery time (34.68 ± 3.12 versus 34.80 ± 6.64 weeks; P = 0.955). In the four cases undergoing selective fetal reduction, the residual mass grew by 1.16–7.07 times compared with the area before reduction. The maximum size of the residual mass was observed at 12–13 weeks and 22–25 weeks. Most patients with HCSP who choose to keep intrauterine pregnancy will be able to carry the fetus to term. Selective fetal reduction would be the first intervention of choice and should take place immediately after diagnosis. The residual mass after reduction could continue to grow throughout the whole pregnancy, although this should not be considered as an indication for termination. Objective: To explore the impact of FIGO type 3 fibroids on the outcomes of in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles.Study Design: This is a nested retrospective case-control study. Women with FIGO type 3 intramural fibroids, who underwent the first IVF cycle between January 2010 and December 2016 were included in the study as fibroids group. Patients in control group were randomly selected from a general IVF cohort by a ratio of 2:1 with fibroids group, matched by age, BMI, type and cause of infertility and antral follicle count. Implantation rate (IPR), clinical pregnancy rate (CPR), miscarriage rate (MR), and live birth rate (LBR) were compared between groups.Results: A total of 97 women comprised the fibroids group. Additional 194 women with normal uterus were included in the control group. While baseline characteristics did not differ between the groups, women with FIGO type 3 intramural fibroids showed significantly lower IPR (15.7 % vs. 24.6 %, p = 0.015), CPR (23.7 % vs. 38.1 %, p = 0.014) and LBR (16.5 % vs. 30.4 %, p = 0.011) compared with non-fibroid controls. No difference was observed in MR (p > 0.05). Fibroids of a maximum diameter ≥30 mm or multiple (≥2) fibroids decrease the IPR, CPR and LBR compared with the control group, while the smaller ones or single fibroid has no impact on IVF outcomes.Conclusions: FIGO type 3 fibroid ≥30 mm or multiple fibroids might exert deleterious impact on implantation, clinical pregnancy and live birth rate of IVF cycles. Purpose: Decreased oocyte maturation rate (OMR) is associated with worse clinical outcomes in IVF/ICSI cycles. The clinical features inducing decreased OMR remain unknown. The study is designed to explore the factors influencing the incidence of decreased OMR and its effects on clinical outcomes.Methods: This is a retrospective case-control study analyzing data from 20,939 ICSI cycles in a reproductive center of university affiliated hospital from January 2015 to December 2017. Patients with a decreased OMR (< 30%) were characterized as Group A and those with an OMR ≥ 30% constituted Group B. Candidate factors of decreased OMR and clinical outcomes were compared between the two groups.Results: There were 1.3% cycles with an OMR < 30% and 22.16% of all oocytes retrieved (12.87 per cycle in average) were immature. Primary infertility, longer duration of infertility, larger BMI, more previous assisted reproductive times, less oocytes retrieved were risk factors for decreased OMR. Compared with long agonist protocol, patients received antagonist protocol for COH had a higher incidence of decreased OMR. The fertilization rate and subsequent embryo development of oocytes in Group A were worse than Group B. Implantation rate and clinical pregnancy rate were both lower in Group A than Group B.Conclusion: Primary infertility, duration of infertility, BMI, previous assisted reproductive times, number of oocytes retrieved and COH protocol were found to be factors inducing decreased OMR. Considering the classification of high spatial resolution remote sensing imagery, this paper presents a novel classification method for such imagery using deep neural networks. Deep learning methods, such as a fully convolutional network (FCN) model, achieve state-of-the-art performance in natural image semantic segmentation when provided with large-scale datasets and respective labels. To use data efficiently in the training stage, we first pre-segment training images and their labels into small patches as supplements of training data using graph-based segmentation and the selective search method. Subsequently, FCN with atrous convolution is used to perform pixel-wise classification. In the testing stage, post-processing with fully connected conditional random fields (CRFs) is used to refine results. Extensive experiments based on the Vaihingen dataset demonstrate that our method performs better than the reference state-of-the-art networks when applied to high-resolution remote sensing imagery classification. Human and several nonhuman species share the rare ability of modifying acoustic and/or syntactic features of sounds produced, i.e. vocal learning, which is the important neurobiological and behavioral substrate of human speech/language. This convergent trait was suggested to be associated with significant genomic convergence and best manifested at the ROBO-SLIT axon guidance pathway. Here we verified the significance of such genomic convergence and assessed its functional relevance to human speech/language using human genetic variation data. In normal human populations, we found the affected amino acid sites were well fixed and accompanied with significantly more associated protein-coding SNPs in the same genes than the rest genes. Diseased individuals with speech/language disorders have significant more low frequency protein coding SNPs but they preferentially occurred outside the affected genes. Such patients' SNPs were enriched in several functional categories including two axon guidance pathways (mediated by netrin and semaphorin) that interact with ROBO-SLITs. Four of the six patients have homozygous missense SNPs on PRAME gene family, one youngest gene family in human lineage, which possibly acts upon retinoic acid receptor signaling, similarly as FOXP2, to modulate axon guidance. Taken together, we suggest the axon guidance pathways (e.g. ROBO-SLIT, PRAME gene family) served as common targets for human speech/language evolution and related disorders. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective. To analyze the treatment outcomes of patients who accepted IVF/ICSI-ET, diagnosed POR according to Bologna criteria. Study Design. Retrospective cohort study of one reproductive medical center, from 1st Jan., 2009, to 31st Dec., 2014. All patients fulfilled the Bologna criteria and accept IVF/ICSI-ET treatment with stimulation cycle. The main outcome measures were clinical pregnancy rate (CPR) and live birth rate (LBR). Results. There were 5770 eligible cycles included in this study. The incidence of POR was 10.3% (6286/62194). The overall CPR was 18.7%, IR was 11.6%, LBR/ET was 11.5%, and LBR/OPU was 8.3%. The cycle cancellation for no available oocyte or embryo was 4.9% and 18.6%, respectively. The subgroup of younger POR patients got highest CPR and LBR/ET, which decreased while increasing maternal age. Within three attempts, the patients got similar CPR and LBR. Conclusion. In conclusion, our study supports the Bologna criteria that defined women with poor IVF outcomes. Purpose: To identify whether biochemical pregnancy (BP) and spontaneous abortion (SA) cases have the same clinical characteristics in assisted reproductive therapy (ART), and to assess its predictive value for the subsequent cycles. Methods: Retrospectively reviewed 12,174 cycles in the first in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) cycle from January 2009 to December 2012 of Peking University Third Hospital Reproductive Medical Center. Besides those patients who reached ongoing pregnancy stage, 7,598 cases were divided into three groups: group 1, lack of pregnancy ( n = 6,651); group 2, BP ( n = 520); and group 3, SA ( n = 427). We compared the basic status of patients of the three groups, including ages, body mass index, basic hormone levels, controlled ovarian hyperstimulation protocols, amount of gonadotropin use, and endometrium thickness. The reproductive outcome of the next embryo transfer cycles of the three groups was analyzed. Results: 520 patients ended as BP, and 427 patients ended as SA. The age, primary infertility proportion, body mass index, basic FSH level and basic E2 level were similar among groups. Endometrial thickness, controlled ovarian hyperstimulation protocol, Gn dosage, average oocyte retrieval and ET numbers were also similar. Multivariate analysis showed that only the age ( P = 0.037, OR 1.060, 95 % CI 1.001-1.120) and endometrium thickness on hCG administration day ( P = 0.029, OR 1.136, 95 % CI 1.013-1.275) may result in the differences between BP and SA groups. In the subsequent ET cycles, the total BP rate was 4.37 %, clinical pregnancy rate was 37.28 %, and miscarriage rate was 8.18 %. The clinical pregnancy rates were similar among groups. However, BP group still had the highest BP rate ( P < 0.05, 7.97 vs. 4.01 % and 5.28 %), BP and SA group had higher miscarriage rate ( P < 0.05, 11.76 % and 14.75 vs. 7.41 %). This study analyzed the clinical outcomes of patients with elevated progesterone level on the HCG day in IVF/ICSI cycles, with different timing of embryo transfer. A total of 123 patients were involved in this prospective randomized clinical study. Group 1: blastocyst transfer group, 38 cases; Group 2: frozen-thawed embryo transfer group (first FET cycle), 42 cases; Group 3: fresh embryo transfer group, 43 cases. The basal FSH level was comparable among three groups (6.7 ± 3 versus 7.0 ± 2 versus 6.9 ± 2.4, p = 0.897). The clinical pregnancy rate was highest in group 2, lowest in group 3, with significantly difference (31.6% versus 38.1% versus 13.9%, p = 0.037). The implantation rate and live birth rate were still lowest in group 3 (21.9% versus 19.8% versus 6.7%, p = 0.016 and 18.4% versus 31% versus 11.6%, p = 0.081). In conclusion, the elevated progesterone level will affect clinical pregnancy rate in fresh embryo transfer cycles. We suggest frozen-thawed embryo transfer for these patients. However, for those patients who expressed the wish to have fresh embryo transfer, they should be suggested fresh blastocyst transfer, if they have more than five good quality embryos. Objective: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and feasibility of transabdominal intracranial KCl injection as an alternative to intrathoracic KCl injection for multifetal pregnancy reduction (MFPR) in the early second trimester. Methods: In this study, 40 cases who underwent fetal reduction between 12 and 18 weeks of gestation at the Reproductive Medical Center of Peking University Third Hospital from January 2006 to December 2011 were divided into two groups: group A (16 cases of intracranial injection) and group B (24 cases of intrathoracic injection). The groups were compared for clinical procedures and outcomes. Results: The two groups were similar in terms of patient age, gestation, as well as starting and finishing fetal numbers. Group A needed significantly fewer punctures for each fetus than group B did (1.1 ± 0.2 vs. 1.4 ± 0.6), but both groups received similar doses of KCl (2.6 ± 0.8 ml vs. 2.6 ± 1.2 ml per fetus). All cases succeeded in the first procedure, with no heartbeat recovery. The two groups had similar miscarriage rates and gestational ages at delivery. Conclusion: MFPR by intracranial KCl injection was as effective as, but an easier procedure than intrathoracic KCl injection between 12 and 18 weeks of gestation. Copyright © 2013 S. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonists for controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) were only recently introduced into China. The efficacy and safety of the GnRH antagonist ganirelix was assessed in a multicenter, controlled, open-label study, in which Chinese women were randomized to either ganirelix ( n = 113) or a long GnRH agonist protocol of triptorelin ( n = 120). The primary end point was the amount of recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone (rFSH) required to meet the human chorionic gonadotropin criterion (three follicles ≥17 mm). The amount of rFSH needed was significantly lower for ganirelix (1272 IU) vs. triptorelin (1416 IU; P< 0.001). Ongoing pregnancy rates per started cycle were 39.8% (ganirelix) and 39.2% (triptorelin). Although both treatments were well tolerated, cancellation due to risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) was less frequent with ganirelix (1.8%) than triptorelin (7.5%) ( P = 0.06). Mature whey protein concentrate (WPC) fibrils can act as secondary nuclei to induce fibrillation. Multiple rounds of nuclei induced aggregation could introduce differences in their ability to form fibrils. The second induction fabricated the highest population of fibrils, while the sixth induction lost the ability of fibrillation. Salt-tolerant fibrils through multiple inductions were produced, but less with each cycle owing to a decreased salt tolerance. The difference in fibrillation between spontaneous formation and multiple rounds of induction was associated with the ability of ions to bind to the protein aggregations. More cations were distributed on the surface of fibrils after the sixth cycle of induction compared with that of the second induction. Divalent salts had much stronger effects than monovalent salts on inhibiting protein fibrillation due to fewer divalent cations distributed on the surface of the fibril. Considering the complexity of landslide hazards, their manual investigation lacks efficiency and is time-consuming, especially in high-altitude plateau areas. Therefore, extracting landslide information using remote sensing technology has great advantages. In this study, comprehensive research was carried out on the landslide features of high-resolution remote sensing images on the Mangkam dataset. Based on the idea of feature-driven classification, the landslide extraction model of a fully convolutional spectral–topographic fusion network (FSTF-Net) based on a deep convolutional neural network of multi-source data fusion is proposed, which takes into account the topographic factor (slope and aspect) and the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) as multi-source data input by which to train the model. In this paper, a high-resolution remote sensing image classification method based on a fully convolutional network was used to extract the landslide information, thereby realizing the accurate extraction of the landslide and surrounding ground-object information. With Mangkam County in the southeast of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau China as the study area, the proposed method was evaluated based on the high-precision digital elevation model (DEM) generated from stereoscopic images of Resources Satellite-3 and multi-source high-resolution remote sensing image data (Beijing-2, Worldview-3, and SuperView-1). Results show that our method had a landslide detection precision of 0.85 and an overall classification accuracy of 0.89. The structural and emulsification properties of amyloid fibrils in whey protein concentrate (WPC) with certain ratios of added nuclei or nuclei fragments, generated using ultrasound, high-speed shear treatment and enzymatic hydrolysis methods, were compared. The emulsifying properties of nuclei fragments produced by high-speed shear treatment were effectively improved, but those of nuclei hydrolysed by alkaline protease decreased, since the determinant structures were destroyed. However, the emulsifying activity index and emulsifying stability index of fibrils subsequently formed by nuclei fragment induction (enzymatic hydrolysis method) were higher than those of fibrils formed by the heat-induced method and nuclei induction method in all pH environments. The fibril size induced by nuclei fragment induction was smaller, and the fibril level was higher, and thus the ability to improve the emulsifying properties of WPC was stronger.
