The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of various immigration statuses on the quality of life among Asian Indians in the United States. The 73 Asian Indians, born in India and residing in the U.S., who participated in the survey study, reported experiencing varied levels of quality of life depending on their immigration status. Mental health counselors working with immigrants, in particular, Asian Indian clients, will benefit from the findings that highlight the need for heightened awareness of immigration-related policies and its impact on their clients' immigration statuses, mental health and overall acculturation process. Marital adjustment depends on how well couples understand and cooperate with each other despite their differing personalities. The current study examines the marital adjustment trend of 480 Indian spouses from eight stages of the family life cycle. Results from the data collected through the Marital Adjustment Inventory (Developed) demonstrated a curvilinear trend concluding that the marital adjustment of couples decreased with their transition to parenthood, for launching couples, and for empty nest couples, while it steadily increased for couples during other stages of the family life cycle. All 13 areas of the Marital Adjustment Inventory yielded significant F values across the different stages. The results suggest the need for counselors, marriage and family therapists to assist couples on how to successfully adjust through various stages of the family life cycle. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examined the effect of a wellness intervention on the total wellness of master's-level graduate students in counseling practicum. It was posited that participation in a wellness intervention would result in observable increases in student total wellness. Using a quasi-experimental, single-group pretest-posttest design with quota sampling, a sample size of 30 practicum students was recruited. Participants were administered the 5F-Wel Inventory to assess baseline wellness, and participated in a wellness intervention, which was followed up with a posttest administration of the 5F-Wel (Myers & Sweeney, 2005d). Data analysis involved using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The results of these analyses indicated there was a statistically significant difference in participants' Total Wellness and wellness factors scores, supporting the research hypothesis that participation in a wellness intervention increases student wellness as indicated by 5F-Wel posttest scores.
