Temporomandibular dysfunction syndrome (TMDS) includes a number of clinical conditions involving the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the muscles involved in mastication, or both. The symptoms of TMDS include decreased mobility, masticatory muscle pain, TMJ pain, functional alteration accompanied by articular noises, myofascial pain or deviation of the mouth opening. Work with visual display terminals (VDTs) has become widespread in the past several years and the conditions associated with this type of work have been associated with the appearance of certain musculoskeletal pathologies. Our objective was to conduct a review of the scientific literature onthe possible association between TMDS and work with VDTs. Method: A search of the literature in MEDLINE (PubMed), Cochrane Plus Library, CINHAL, Scielo and Google Academic was performed. We included those studies involving workers using VDTs and the outcome measures had to include references to TMDS symptoms. Results and Discussion: A total of 112 articles were identified, of which finally 11 were selected for in-depth review. Given the heterogeneity of the results and the nature of the studies, we conclude that currently there is insufficient evidence to support a consistent relationship between TMDS pathology and work with VDTs. There is insufficient evidence linking the presence of TMDS with ergonomic and postural aspects, an association that should not be totally ruled out from a pathophysiological point of view and biological plausibility. This article introduces a uniform theory of diffraction–physical optics (UTD–PO) formulation for analyzing radiowave multiple diffraction emanating from trees and buildings in green urban areas, considering illumination from a low transmitter and assuming spherical-wave incidence. Based on Babinet's principle, this solution models buildings as rectangular sections and accounts for the influence of tree crowns (assuming these rise above the average rooftop height) by incorporating appropriate attenuation factors/phasors into the diffraction phenomena of buildings. The validation of the formulation is achieved through measurements made at the 39 GHz 6G mmWave frequency on a scale model of a green urban environment comprising bonsai trees and bricks. The main advantage of the proposed solution is that the calculations only include single diffractions due to recursion, circumventing the need to use higher-order diffraction terms in the diffraction coefficients, thus reducing the computation time and power. Our results may be beneficial for the design of mobile communication systems, including 6G networks, situated in green urban areas and with transmission source positioned lower than the surrounding infrastructure. Improving the cellular capacity of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells to produce large amounts of therapeutic proteins remains a major challenge for the biopharmaceutical industry. In previous studies, we observed strong correlations between the performance of CHO cells and expression of two transcription factors (TFs), MYC and XBP1s. Here, we have evaluated the effective of overexpression of these two TFs on CHO cell productivity. To address this goal, we generated an EPO-producing cell line (CHOEPO) using a targeted integration approach, and subsequently engineered it to co-overexpress MYC and XBP1s (a cell line referred to as CHOCXEPO). Cells overexpressing MYC and XBP1s increased simultaneously viable cell densities and EPO production, leading to an enhanced overall performance in cultures. These improvements resulted from the individual effect of each TF in the cell behaviour (i.e., MYC-growth and XBP1s-productivity). An evaluation of the CHOCXEPO cells under different environmental conditions (temperature and media glucose concentration) indicated that CHOCXEPO cells increased cell productivity in high glucose concentration. Passiflora alata Curtis ( P. alata ) leaves have anti-inflammatory properties; the present study aimed to investigate the anti-diabetogenic properties of P. alata aqueous leaf extract. HPLC analysis identified the phenolic compounds catechin, epicatechin and rutin. The aqueous extract was administered for 30 weeks to non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice presenting a decrease of 28.6% in diabetes incidence and the number of inflammatory cells in pancreatic islets, when compared with the control group (water). The P. alata group presented an antioxidant effect and decreased lipid peroxidation in the serum of NOD mice. Increased numbers of insulin-positive cells were also observed in the pancreatic islets of the treated group. The diabetic group exhibited higher levels in the glucose tolerance test and glycemic index, in comparison to the P. alata -treated group and non-diabetic control BALB/c mice. In addition, the P. alata extract reduced the percentage and the proliferation index of NOD mice lymphocytes submitted to in vitro dose/response mitogenic stimulation assays. These results suggest that the aqueous extract of P. alata has anti-inflammatory properties, contributing to the protection of beta cells in pancreatic islets in NOD mice, and presents potential for use a supporting approach to treat type 1 diabetes. A transferência de ciência e tecnologia faz parte, da missão do Instituto Agronômico (IAC), pertencente à Agência Paulista de Tecnologia dos Agronegócios (APTA), da Secretaria de Agricultura e Abastecimento do Estado de São Paulo (SAA/SP). As pesquisas sobre os sistemas de produção de plantas aromáticas e medicinais destacam-se pela demanda por produtos naturais, para consumo "in natura", plantas desidratadas para chás e infusões, extratos, bem como, para a extração de óleos essenciais e suas diversas formas de aplicações. Nesse contexto, as pesquisas com plantas aromáticas e medicinais, foram iniciadas no Instituto Agronômico na década de 1940, na antiga Seção de Fumo. Atualmente, a continuidade desses estudos está sob a tutela do Centro de Horticultura. Com o objetivo, de divulgar os resultados das pesquisas realizadas ao longo dessas décadas, principalmente, na área de cultivo de plantas aromáticas e medicinais, para fins de extração de óleos essenciais, foram realizados três cursos de capacitação técnica no ano de 2018. Este trabalho tem como objetivo, apresentar a abrangência da transferência de ciência e tecnologia no território nacional. Capacitamos um total de 434 pessoas, entre produtores, aromaterapeutas, fitoterapeutas, médicos, farmacêuticos, químicos, pesquisadores, técnicos da SAA, técnicos de empresas privadas, alunos de escolas técnicas, graduação e pós-graduação de diversas áreas do conhecimento, oriundos de todas as regiões brasileiras como destacamos a seguir: 89,4% Sudeste, 5,53% Sul, 1,15% Centro-oeste, 0,7% Nordeste, 0,23% Norte e 3% não informaram sua origem. Na região Sudeste o destaque foi o Estado de São Paulo com 89,18%, seguido por Minas Gerais com 5,98%, Rio de Janeiro com 4,64% e Espírito Santo com 0,26%. A demanda crescente, desta cadeia produtiva estimula a pesquisa pública ou em parcerias público privadas, na busca de novas tecnologias e inovações com boas práticas agrícolas.
