There are still few portable methods for monitoring lower limb joint coordination during the cutting movements (CM). This study aims to obtain the relevant motion biomechanical parameters of the lower limb joints at 90°, 135°, and 180° CM by collecting IMU data of the human lower limbs, and utilizing the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) deep neural-network framework to predict the coordination variability of selected lower extremity couplings at the three CM directions. There was a significant (p < 0.001) difference between the three couplings during the swing, especially at 90° vs the other directions. At 135° and 180°, t13-he coordination variability of couplings was significantly greater than at 90° (p < 0.001). It is important to note that the coordination variability of Hip rotation/Knee flexion-extension was significantly higher at 90° than at 180° (p < 0.001). By the LSTM, the CM coordination variability for 90° (CMC = 0.99063, RMSE = 0.02358), 135° (CMC = 0.99018, RMSE = 0.02465) and 180° (CMC = 0.99485, RMSE = 0.01771) were accurately predicted. The predictive model could be used as a reliable tool for predicting the coordination variability of different CM directions in patients or athletes and real-world open scenarios using inertial sensors. With the progress and innovation of table tennis technology, individualized training programs may deserve special attention. This study aimed to analyze elite table tennis athletes in chasse-step, with a particular focus on sex-based biomechanical differences. A total of 36 (18 males and 18 females) elite table tennis athletes performed topspin forehand of chasse-step. Angles and moments of hip, knee, and ankle joints were calculated using OpenSim (v4.2) with marker trajectories and ground reaction forces were measured via Vicon motion capture system and AMTI in-ground force platform. Males had greater hip and knee flexion angles during the entire motion phase and greater internal rotation angles of the hip during the forward swing phase. The joint stiffness of knee in males was greater than females in the frontal plane. Females in the forward swing phase showed greater hip flexion, adduction, and internal rotation moments than males. It was suggested that the difference may be due to the limitation of anatomical structures in sexes. Male table tennis athletes should strengthen lower extremity muscle groups to improve performance, while female table tennis athletes should focus on hip joint groups to avoid injury. Background: Hallux valgus (HV) is a foot deformity characterized by lateral deviation of the big toe and medial deviation of the first metatarsal.Research Question: This study aimed to shed light on the treatment effects of different interventions and surgical procedures for HV deformity to determine the effectiveness of gait biomechanics correction.Methods: English-language searches of the electronic databases were conducted in the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and Embase. Gait biomechanics evaluation before and after conservative or operative treatments was essential for inclusion in this review. Methodological quality was assessed by the Institute of Health Economics (IHE) quality appraisal tool. All pooled analysis was based on the random-effects model.Results: Twenty-five articles (1003 participants) were identified in this review. Three studies chose conservative therapies for HV deformity, incorporating foot orthotics and minimalist running intervention, and surgeries were performed in twenty-two studies. For the pressure parameter alteration under the hallux, the effect size (ES) in the conservative treatment subgroup was - 0.95 with 95%CI [- 1.69, - 0.21]. It demonstrated a moderate ES of - 0.44% and 95%CI [- 0.81, - 0.07] in the surgery subgroup. The five operations' peak pressure alteration under the hallux demonstrated a moderate ES of - 0.45% and 95%CI [- 0.54, - 0.36].Significance: Both non-operative and operative treatments could achieve the forefoot pressure redistribution, decreasing loading beneath the hallux and first metatarsal regions，However, the treatment effects of surgeries were not very robust. The percutaneous DSTR-Akin technique is recommended as an adequate operative treatment, with a large ES and moderate heterogeneity. An empirical consensus of differences between chronic ankle instability (CAI) individuals and copers (individuals who sprained ankle once and without recurrent symptoms or injury) has not been reported. This study aimed to review the locomotion biomechanics and dynamic postural control between these two populations. Database of ScienceDirect, PubMed and Web of Science was used to search ('chronic ankle instability' OR 'ankle instability') AND ('ankle sprain' OR 'coper*') until 30 November 2020. Articles that made a comparison about changes in biomechanical parameters between Copers and CAI individuals during locomotor or functional tasks were included in this review. Twenty-three articles met the inclusion criteria. CAI individuals exhibited an increased hip flexion to maintain stability, suggesting the adopted hip strategy compared to copers during landing. Dorsiflexion angle and ankle frontal displacement increased considerably compared to copers, which might increase risks of lateral ankle sprain injury. CAI individuals reduced the ankle displacements in the sagittal plane and indicated worse performance of Star Excursion Balance Test in the posterior-lateral direction compared to copers. Barefoot running has been associated with lowered joint loading, but it remains unclear whether the biomechanical benefits are evident after mid-distance running. A musculoskeletal model was adopted for estimating lower limb joint loading for barefoot (n = 10) versus shod (n = 10) 5 km running. The barefoot group reduced peak joint reaction force at the hip and knee, and presented muscle force reductions compared to shod controls with significant group effects and interaction effects (p <.05). These changes were primarily group effects as time point effects were not significant. The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of motion and loading in the lower extremity during dynamic deep squats between Asian and Caucasian individuals using OpenSim modelling technique with a customized squat-specific musculoskeletal model. Twenty-four participants joined the test performing the step-squat test, with right foot stepping side, squatting, and returning. The one-dimensional statistical parametric mapping package was used for statistical analysis. The main findings of the current study were as follows: (1) significant lower squat depth was observed in the Asian individuals, (2) the greater knee range of motion and contact forces were found in the Asian individuals, and (3) the greater ankle contact forces in the Caucasian individuals were notable while performing the deep squat compared to the Asian group. Knowledge found in the current study may provide implication for exercise practitioners and physiotherapists while designing schemes for the prevention of loading accumulation in the lower extremity. This study presents population-based multivariate regression models for predicting foot plantar pressure from easily measured foot metrics in both shod and barefoot populations for running and walking tasks. Both shod and barefoot models were trained on 50 participants and predicted plantar pressure from anthropometric measurements using a 'leave-one-out' validation with R2 values of 0.72–0.78 across walking and running in both populations. When the model was blindly tested on 16 new data sets, the model performed just as well with R2 values of 0.76–0.79 across both populations. Walking and running peak plantar pressure were predicted with similar levels of accuracy in both populations. It was revealed that forefoot plantar pressure was more sensitive to the hallux-toe distance in barefoot people with shod participants showing little response to this foot characteristic. Lateral forefoot plantar pressure was sensitive to the arch index in both shod and barefoot participants but only for walking. During running, the arch index was not a useful determinant of lateral forefoot pressure. Hence, habitually barefoot people who adopt minimalist footwear should consider additional support in the medial forefoot and walking footwear should include forefoot support stratified by arch index (foot type), but running footwear is challenging due to the variability in strike patterns. Background: Naturally aligned toes, particularly hallux, have reported with gripping functions during locomotion, thus expanding the forefoot loading area.Research Question: The purpose of this study was aimed to investigate the influence of hallux abduction manipulation on the foot plantar pressure distribution and inter-segment kinematic alterations.Methods: Thirteen subjects participated in this toe manipulation study. A Footscan® pressure plate and Vicon motion capture system were utilized for the measurement of plantar pressure distribution and lower extremity and foot inter-segment kinematics during walking and running. Paired-sample t-test from statistical parametric mapping 1d was used to check the kinematic significance.Results: Peak pressure in third metatarsal (M3) increased significantly during walking under manipulation. Contact area increased in second metatarsal (M2) with manipulation during running. Peak pressure and pressure-time integral illustrated significant increases in M3, and the maximum force and impulse in fourth metatarsal (M4) increased significantly. Arch height index increased while walking with toe manipulation. The foot progression angle in the frontal plane showed significant decrease in mid-swing phase during walking and significant increase in mid-stance phase during running. The hallux relative to forefoot angles presented higher axial rotation in the frontal plane.Significance: Findings form this study showed centrally and laterally redistributed foot loadings and increased forefoot inter-segment flexibility with manipulation, which may be used as baseline to evaluate toe-manipulation interventions in foot disorders, specifically hallux valgus deformity. Background: Hallux valgus (HV) is one common deformity of the human foot. Metatarsal pain, gait deviation and foot function disorder may occur when HV is severe.Research Question: It was hypothesized that a 12-week minimalist shoes running intervention among mild and moderate hallux valgus males may alter foot morphology and plantar pressure distribution during walking and running.Methods: The foot morphology and plantar pressure data, in this study, were collected from eleven participants using the Easy-Foot-Scan (EFS) and Novel EMED force plate.Results: Compared to pre-intervention sessions, the hallux abductus angle and forefoot width decreased significantly with increased metatarsal waist girth in the post-intervention session. This study presents the kinematics and plantar pressure characteristics of eight elite national-level badminton athletes and eight recreational college-level badminton players while performing a right-forward lunge movement in a laboratory-simulated badminton court. The hypothesis was that recreational players would be significantly different from elite players in kinematics and plantar pressure measures. Vicon®motion capture and Novel®insole plantar pressure measurement were simultaneously taken to record the lower extremity kinematics and foot loading during stance. Recreational players showed significantly higher peak pressure in the lateral forefoot (P = 0.002) and force time integral in the lateral forefoot (P = 0.013) and other toes (P = 0.005). Elite athletes showed higher peak pressure in the medial forefoot (P = 0.003), hallux (P = 0.037) and force time integral in the medial forefoot (P = 0.009). Foot morphology and function has received increasing attention from both biomechanics researchers and footwear manufacturers. In this study, 168 habitually unshod runners (90 males whose age, weight & height were 23±2.4years, 66±7.1kg & 1.68±0.13m and 78 females whose age, weight & height were 22±1.8years, 55±4.7kg & 1.6±0.11m) (Indians) and 196 shod runners (130 males whose age, weight & height were 24±2.6years, 66±8.2kg & 1.72±0.18m and 66 females whose age, weight & height were 23±1.5years, 54±5.6kg & 1.62±0.15m)(Chinese) participated in a foot scanning test using the easy-foot-scan (a three-dimensional foot scanning system) to obtain 3D foot surface data and 2D footprint imaging. Foot length, foot width, hallux angle and minimal distance from hallux to second toe were calculated to analyze foot morphological differences. This study found that significant differences exist between groups (shod Chinese and unshod Indians) for foot length (female p = 0.001), width (female p = 0.001), hallux angle (male and female p = 0.001) and the minimal distance (male and female p = 0.001) from hallux to second toe. This study suggests that significant differences in morphology between different ethnicities could be considered for future investigation of locomotion biomechanics characteristics between ethnicities and inform last shape and design so as to reduce injury risks and poor performance from mal-fit shoes. The custom of bound feet among Chinese women has existed for almost a century. This practice has influenced the daily life of Chinese women, especially during everyday locomotion. The primary aim of this study is to analyze the loading patterns of bound feet. Specifically, the plantar pressure and center of pressure were analyzed for peak pressure, contact area, force time integral, center of pressure displacement velocity and trajectory in the anterior-posterior direction via a comparison with normal feet. The key outcomes from this work were that the forefoot and rearfoot of bound feet bear the whole loading during stance phase. The center of pressure displacement velocity of bound feet was also greatly reduced with the shortening of trajectories. This suggests that the proprioceptive system adjusts motor function to adapt to new loading patterns while maintaining locomotive stability. Foot loading patterns can be changed by using different unstable sole structures, detailed quantification of which is of great significance for research and technological development in falling prevention and lower limb disorders rehabilitation. In this study, unstable soles constructions are adjusted through unstable elements in heel and medial, neutral and lateral forefoot and the foot loading patterns are comparatively studied. A total of 22 healthy male subjects participated in this test. Subjects are asked to walk over a 12 m walkway with control shoes and experimental shoes in self-adapted speed. Significant peak pressure, contact area and pressure-time integral differences in middle foot are found between control shoes and experimental shoes. In addition, peak pressure and pressure-time integral are found to increase significantly with unstable elements adding to center forefoot. The results showed that adjusting the unstable elements in coronal plane of forefoot could effectively alter the distribution of plantar pressure, this could potentially offer a mechanism for preventing falling of elderly and rehabilitation of lower extremity malfunctions. Hallux valgus is a foot pathological condition showing a lateral deviation of the first phalange and medial deviation of the first metatarsal. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate a longitudinal effect of minimalist footwear running protocol for a mild/moderate hallux valgus patient. The computer tomography (CT) images from a male hallux valgus (HV) patient were respectively scanned pre and post 12-week minimalist footwear running intervention. The pre and post -intervention foot finite element (FE) models were developed from the foot three-dimensional geometries manually segmented via the MIMICS 21.0. The post-process with SolidWorks 2019 was conducted for model assembly, consisting of 24 bones, 22 cartilages, five plantar fascia, and lumped encapsulated soft tissue. The foot FE models were solved in ANSYS Workbench 2020 R1 package. The FE models were validated against the plantar pressure (pre : 0.146 MPa vs 0.155 MPa, and post : 0.156 MPa vs 0.17 MPa) and vertical displacements (pre : 2.6 mm vs 2.4 ± 0.4 mm, and post 1.1 mm vs 1.3 ± 0.4 mm) of navicular measured from experiments. The first metatarsophalangeal joint showed varus realignment and the von Mises stress in the first metatarsal and the second metatarsal decreased 72.1% and 51.2% compared with pre-intervention (M1: 4.41 MPa and M2: 4.18 MPa). This framework investigated the shape adjustment and functional recovery in the mild/moderate HV deformity, which may provide references and implications for future studies with a larger cohort. Biomechanical asymmetries between children's left and right feet can affect stability and coordination, especially during dynamic movements. This study aimed to examine plantar pressure distribution, foot balance, and center of pressure (COP) trajectories in children during walking, running, and turning activities to understand how different movements influence these asymmetries. Fifteen children participated in the study, using a FootScan plantar pressure plate to capture detailed pressure and balance data. The parameters, including time-varying forces, COP, and Foot Balance Index (FBI), were analyzed through a one-dimensional Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM1d) package. Results showed that asymmetries in COP and FBI became more pronounced, particularly during the tasks of running and directional turns. Regional plantar pressure analysis also revealed a more significant load on specific foot areas during these dynamic movements, indicating an increased reliance on one foot for stability and control. These findings suggest that early identification of asymmetrical loading patterns may be vital in promoting a balanced gait and preventing potential foot health issues in children. To assess the association between fear of movement and ankle biomechanics and timed performance in a 505 agility change of direction (COD) test, and to assess the association between the biomechanical indices with timed performance. Twenty participants, who play football at a university level or higher, with a history of ankle injuries were recruited. All participants performed three maximal effort 505 agility COD tests. Three-dimensional ankle range of motion (ROM, measured using inertial measurement units) and the average ankle muscle co-activation (tibialis anterior, soleus, and peroneus longus muscles of the affected limb, measured using bipolar surface electromyography) were extracted from the stance phase of the final cutting step. Fear of movement was assessed using the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia 11-item (TSK-11) questionnaire. TSK-11 significantly correlated with ankle transverse plane ROM: r = -0.53 (95 %CI −0.79 to −0.11), t = -2.63, P = 0.017. There was no significant association between the COD timed performance and the four ankle biomechanical indices. Greater fear of movement may result in a stiffer turning strategy, which may reduce the risk of injury to the ankle. The aim of this study was to examine whether there are kinematic and kinetic differences in the lower limb and whether the symmetry of the lower extremities is different after prolonged-running. Fifteen healthy male amateur runners (age: 22 ± 1 years, height: 173 ± 8 cm, mass: 65 ± 7 kg, BMI: 21.62 ± 2 kg/m2) were recruited as participants for this study. A Vicon eight-camera motion capture system and Kistler force plate were used to collect kinematic and kinetic parameters. A motorized treadmill, 15-point Borg scale and heart rate bands were used to monitor fatigue during a running-induced fatigue protocol. Paired sample T tests were used to check statistical difference (p = 0.05) between the lower limbs and the symmetry changes in pre-fatigue and post-fatigue running sessions. The symmetry angle (SA) of the knee flexion angle, hip flexion angle and hip extension angle in post-fatigue was significantly greater than in pre-fatigue, increasing by 4.32%, 10.71%, and 23.12%, respectively. Moreover, the SA of hip flexion moment increased by 2.61%. However, the knee extension velocity and hip flexion velocity became more symmetrical than in pre-fatigue (p < 0.05), the SA decreased by 5.91% and 5.45%, respectively. Differences in limb function during post-fatigue may lead to changes of symmetry in the lower limbs. The variables of asymmetry may be used as a compensation mechanism to maintain gait stability. Background: This research investigates the biomechanical impact of the split-step technique on forehand and backhand lunges in badminton, aiming to enhance players' on-court movement efficiency. Despite the importance of agile positioning in badminton, the specific contributions of the split-step to the biomechanical impact of lunging footwork still need to be determined. Methods: This study examined the lower limb kinematics and ground reaction forces of 18 male badminton players performing forehand and backhand lunges. Data were collected using the VICON motion capture system and Kistler force platforms. Variability in biomechanical characteristics was assessed using paired-sample t-tests and Statistical Parametric Mapping 1D (SPM1D). Results: The study demonstrates that the split-step technique in badminton lunges significantly affects lower limb biomechanics. During forehand lunges, the split-step increases hip abduction and rotation while decreasing knee flexion at foot contact. In backhand lunges, it increases knee rotation and decreases ankle rotation. Additionally, the split-step enhances the loading rate of the initial ground reaction force peak and narrows the time gap between the first two peaks. Individuals with chronic ankle instability (CAI) suffer from the resulting sequela of repetitive lateral ankle sprains (LAS), whilst copers appear to cope with initial LAS successfully. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore the intra-foot biomechanical differences among CAI, copers, and healthy individuals during dynamic tasks. Twenty-two participants per group were included and required to perform cutting and different landing tasks (DL: drop landing; FL: forward jump followed a landing). A five-segment foot model with 8 degrees of freedom was used to explore the intra-foot movement among these three groups. Smaller dorsiflexion angles were found in copers (DL tasks and prelanding task) and CAI (DL and FL task) compared to healthy participants. Copers presented a more eversion position compared to others during these dynamic tasks. During the descending phase of DL task, greater dorsiflexion angles in the metatarsophalangeal joint were found in copers compared to the control group. Joint moment difference was only found in the subtalar joint during the descending phase of FL task, presenting more inversion moments in copers compared to healthy participants. Copers rely on more eversion positioning to prevent over-inversion of the subtalar joint compared to CAI. Further, the foot became more unstable when conducting sport-related movements, suggesting that foot stability seems to be sensitive to the task types. Understanding detailed foot morphology as well as regional plantar forces could provide insight into foot function and provide recommendation for footwear design for chronic ankle instability (CAI) people. This study presented 3-dimensional statistical shape models of feet from three different populations including CAI, copers and healthy individuals, with regional plantar forces also acquired. Sixty-six males (22 participants per group) were included in this study to capture 3-dimensional foot shapes under a standing condition and regional plantar forces during a cutting maneuver. Principal component analysis was performed to generate a mean foot shape of each group as well as modes of variations. A generalized procrustes analysis was used to achieve rapid registration of mean shapes. Besides, regional plantar forces and contact duration among these three populations were compared. For 3-dimensional foot shapes, although no significant differences of the average distance between each mode and mean shape were found among three populations, there were subtle variations in mean shapes. The CAI population presented a more bulging of the lateral malleolus; copers were characterized by the flexion of the lesser toes, a more bulging of the medial foot in the sagittal plane; and healthy individuals showed a greater heel width and a more bulging of the heel in the sagittal plane. In terms of plantar forces, healthy individuals had significantly greater summated plantar forces and greater plantar forces in the lateral heel area during the early contact phase compared to copers and CAI participants. Overall, this study suggested that repetitive ankle sprains may lead to the bulging of the lateral malleolus. The authors aimed to investigate female balance or stability control with comparative analysis of the center of pressure trajectory and plantar pressure distribution with different high-heeled shoes while standing on a dynamic surface with multidirectional perturbations. College females with at least 2 years' history of wearing high-heel shoes voluntarily participated in the test with a Novel Pedar insole (Novel, GmBH, Munich, Germany. With heels height increasing, the pressure time integral obviously transfer to the medial forefoot region, with center of pressure trajectory medially deviated significantly, either under anteroposterior or mediolateral perturbations. The passive plantarflexion position of ankle incurred by high heel increased the range of motion in the frontal plane but decreased ankle stability, thus increasing the challenge of body balance maintenance. Understanding detailed foot morphology as well as regional plantar forces could provide insight into foot function and provide recommendation for footwear design for chronic ankle instability (CAI) people. This study presented 3-dimensional statistical shape models of feet from three different populations including CAI, copers and healthy individuals, with regional plantar forces also acquired. Sixty-six males (22 participants per group) were included in this study to capture 3-dimensional foot shapes under a standing condition and regional plantar forces during a cutting maneuver. Principal component analysis was performed to generate a mean foot shape of each group as well as modes of variations. A generalized procrustes analysis was used to achieve rapid registration of mean shapes. Besides, regional plantar forces and contact duration among these three populations were compared. For 3-dimensional foot shapes, although no significant differences of the average distance between each mode and mean shape were found among three populations, there were subtle variations in mean shapes. The CAI population presented a more bulging of the lateral malleolus; copers were characterized by the flexion of the lesser toes, a more bulging of the medial foot in the sagittal plane; and healthy individuals showed a greater heel width and a more bulging of the heel in the sagittal plane. In terms of plantar forces, healthy individuals had significantly greater summated plantar forces and greater plantar forces in the lateral heel area during the early contact phase compared to copers and CAI participants. Overall, this study suggested that repetitive ankle sprains may lead to the bulging of the lateral malleolus. Further, CAI and copers seem to stabilize the ankle joint by medially shifting the center of pressure compared to healthy individuals under the static and less challenging dynamic conditions. • Statistical shape models of foot for different populations were established. • Foot characteristics in CAI group presented a more bulging of lateral malleolus. • Copers were characterized by the flexion of lesser toes and medial bulging. • CAI and copers stabilize the ankle joint by medially shifting COP. Badminton footwork has been characterised with jump-landing, cross step, side side and lunges, which requires movement agility to facilitate on-court performance. A novel badminton shoe design with systematic increase of lateral wedge hardness (Asker C value of 55, 60, 65, and 70) was developed and investigated in this study, aiming to analyse the dose–response effect of incremental wedge hardness on typical badminton footwork. Stance time and joint stiffness were employed to investigate the footwork performance, and the factorial Statistical non-Parametric Mapping and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) were used to quantify the biomechanical responses over the stance. As reported, shorter contact times (decreased by 8.9%–13.5%) and increased joint stiffness (in side step) of foot-ankle complex were found, suggesting improved footwork stability and agility from increased hardness. Time-varying differences were noted during the initial landing and driving-off phase of cross and side steps and drive-off returning of lunges, suggesting facilitated footwork performance. The reconstructed modes of variations from PCA further deciphered the biomechanical response to the wedge dosage, especially during drive-off, to understand the improved footwork agility and stability. Simple Summary: This study adapted a customized OpenSim model aiming to analyze the loadings difference between full-squat and half-squat in novice females. The joint moment and joint angle of the hip, knee, and ankle increase significantly in the full-squat, which might increase the risks of potential injury. In the case of training, the cohort of young females could perform half-squat practice when muscle strength is insufficient. This study may present implications for the design of novice strength training programs and the formulation of rehabilitation plans. Background: Females with different practice experience may show different body postures and movement patterns while squatting in different depths, which may lead to changes of biomechanical loadings and increase the risks of injuries. Methods: Sixteen novice female participants without squat training experience participated in this study. A 3D motion capture system was used to collect the marker trajectory and ground reaction force data during bodyweight squatting in different depths. The participants' kinematic data and joint moment were calculated using OpenSim's inverse kinematics and inverse dynamics algorithm. In this study, authors adapted a model especially developed for squatting and customized the knee joint with extra Degree-of-Freedom (DoF) in the coronal and horizontal plane with adduction/abduction and internal/external rotation. A paired-sample t-test was used to analyze the difference of joint range of motions (ROM) and peak moments between full-squat (F-SQ) and half-squat (H-SQ). One-Dimensional Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM1D) is used to analyze the difference of joint angle and moment between the process of squatting F-SQ and H-SQ. Results: (1) Compared with H-SQ, F-SQ showed larger ROM in sagittal, coronal, and transverse planes (p < 0.05). (2) SPM1D found that the difference in joint angles and joint moments between F-SQ and H-SQ was mainly concentrated in the mid-stance during squatting, which suggested the difference is greatly pronounced during deeper squat. (3) Peak hip extension moment, knee extension moment, hip adduction moment, and plantar flexion moment of F-SQ were significantly higher than H-SQ (p < 0.05). (4) Difference of hip and knee extension moments and rotation moments between the F-SQ and H-SQ were exhibited during descending and ascending. Conclusions: The study found that novice women had larger range of joint motion during the F-SQ than H-SQ group, and knee valgus was observed during squatting to the deepest point. Greater joint moment was found during F-SQ and reached a peak during ascending after squatting to the deepest point. Novice women may have better movement control during H-SQ. The findings may provide implications for the selection of lower limb strength training programs, assist the scientific development of training movements, and provide reference for squat movement correction, thus reducing the risk of injury for novice women in squatting practice.
