The magnetic coupler is the most vital component for charging EV wirelessly. Through it, the output power can be transported from the transmitter to the receiver by means of electromagnetic fields. Therefore, this manuscript presents a proposed design of a magnetic coupler in the form of Double-D (DD) on both sides, which is suitable for in-motion inductive charging. This charger is capable of transferring power of 200-kW through an airgap of 250 mm with an efficiency of 91.88% and an operating frequency of 85 kHz. Computational modeling is conducted to obtain the magnetic coupler and the compensation parameters of the proposed system. The appropriate dimensions of the coils, magnetic and metallic shielding are obtained by using the finite element model (FEM). The effect of misalignments on the self and mutual inductances of the two coils (Lp, Ls, M), the output power (Po), and the transmission efficiency (η) is studied in case of one and two coils at transmitter side. The output power in the distance between the two transmitter coils (d) is improved by controlling the operating frequency, adding magnetizable concrete (MC), or both together. These techniques have proven effectiveness in improving the output power by 45.15% for small d and 72.51% for large d. In addition, the efficiency improved by 15.95% for small d and 60.76% for large d. Moreover, these improvement cases were compared in terms of size, weight and cost for a 100-m driving track. The synthesis of benzosuberone-fused heterocyclic derivatives is an increasingly intriguing subject. The current study reports the synthesis of the new ring system benzo[6,7]cyclohepta[1,2-b]thieno[3,2-e]pyridine. At first, new 2-thioxo-2,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[6,7]cyclohepta[1,2-b]pyridine-3-carbonitriles were prepared and taken as versatile precursors for the present study. Afterward, a succession of α-bromoketones were combined with the newly generated synthons in ethanol that also included two equivalents of sodium ethoxide. After 2–3 h of heating at reflux, a novel series of benzo[6,7]cyclohepta[1,2-b]thieno[3,2-e]pyridines was obtained in 86–93% yields. Using a similar protocol, a novel series of benzosuberone-fused bis(thieno[3,2-e]pyridines) linked to different spacers was obtained. Therefore, two pyridine-2(1H)-thiones equivalents were reacted with one equivalent of the respective bis(α-bromoketones) in ethanol containing four equivalents of sodium ethoxide. The reaction mixture was refluxed for 4–6 h to produce the corresponding bis(benzo[6,7]cyclohepta[1,2-b]thieno[3,2-e]pyridines) in 67–76% yields. Inductive power transfer (IPT) technology is a promising solution for charging the electric vehicles (EVs) by enabling an EV to charge its energy storage system (battery) without any connecting wires through magnetic coupling. This paper proposes a new receiver design named Hollow Solenoid receiver that is compatible with the standard double-D transmitter defined by the SAE J2954 standard. A deep design analysis for the proposed Hollow Solenoid receiver is presented to define the optimum design parameters for coil (inductances, number of turns, dimensions, wires, etc.) and ferrite core (dimensions, number, arrangement, etc.). Several WPT3 (11.1kVA) solenoid receiver (SR) designs were presented and analyzed based on efficiency, weight, size, volume, and cost. The performance of the proposed SR was compared with the global Double-D receiver (DDR) presented by the SAE J2954 standard under different lateral and rotational alignment and loading conditions considering coupling factor, transmission power and efficiency, and stray electromagnetic fields (EMFs). The entire IPT system including coils, compensation network, power converters, controls, and battery load was modeled and analyzed for both SR and DDR coils. The results reveal that the proposed SR is compatible with the global DD transmitter at different alignment and loading conditions and is able to transmit the desired power (11 kW) at an efficiency > 85%. Inductive power transfer (IPT) technology offers a promising solution for electric vehicle (EV) charging. It permits an EV to charge its energy storage system without any physical connections using magnetic coupling between inductive coils. EV inductive charging is an exemplary option due to the related merits such as: automatic operation, safety in harsh climatic conditions, interoperability, and flexibility. There are three visions to realize wireless EV charging: (i) static, in which charging occurs while EV is in long-term parking; (ii) dynamic (in-motion), which happens when EV is moving at high speed; and (iii) quasi-dynamic, which can occur when EV is at transient stops or driving at low speed. This paper introduces an extensive review for IPT systems in dynamic EV charging. It offers the state-of-the-art of transmitter design, including magnetic structure and supply arrangement. It explores and summarizes various types of compensation networks, power converters, and control techniques. In addition, the paper introduces the state-of-the-art of research and development activities that have been conducted for dynamic EV inductive charging systems, including challenges associated with the technology and opportunities to tackle these challenges. Wireless charging technology presents an ideal fit for autonomous electric vehicles for realizing a fully automated system (vehicle and charger). This article presents a planning optimization analysis for a pilot project of in-route wireless charging infrastructure serving fixed-route on-demand shared automated electric shuttles (SAESs) at Greenville, SC, USA. A single-objective nonlinear mixed integer system planning optimization problem is formulated. A comprehensive cost model representing the overall inductively charged SAESs system is developed, considering road construction, power electronics and materials, traction battery, and installation costs. The optimization problem is solved to determine the best combination of the system key design parameters (number and allocations of wireless chargers, charging power level, track length, and on-board battery capacity) that show the most cost-effective solution and allow the SAESs to achieve charge-sustaining operation. The planning platform incorporates representative simulated traffic data (driving speed and routes) for four SAESs in the Greenville using the Simulation of Urban Mobility tool. These data are fed to a vehicle powertrain model and a wireless charger power model to predict the battery power, energy and state-of-charge profiles, which are provided to the search algorithm to assess the design objectives under specific constraints. The results indicate that implementing high-power (100 kW) wireless charger at a few designated stops for fixed-route SAESs with the proper track length allows the vehicles to realize charge-sustaining operation, infinite range, and zero recharge downtime, with a significant reduction in the on-board battery (36%) and road coverage (69%), at minimum cost. Inductive power transfer technology has gained massive attention for electric vehicle charging due to the associated reliability, convenience, and safety. Nevertheless, the loose coupling between the transmitter and receiver generates intensive electromagnetic fields (EMFs) around the system, which may influence living objects’ safety if the typical limits are exceeded. Moreover, these fields induce voltages in the vehicle body, which may lead to touch current passing through the human body when it gets in contact with two metal parts or one part and the ground. Following the international standards and recommendations, this paper presents comprehensive test guidelines for the near-EMFs and touch currents from a commercial 25-kW wireless charger from Momentum Dynamics, which was installed in an electric shuttle operating at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) campus. The paper investigates the measuring devices, test setup, test points, and standard limits. The impact of the misalignments on the measurements is considered during testing. EMFs are measured in areas around and inside the shuttle and near the power supply and compared with the reference levels defined by the international standards, including ICNIRP 2010, IEEE C95.1, and ACGIH TLV 2017. Touch currents are evaluated among different metal parts and ground in comparison with the standard limits. The results show that both EMFs and touch currents comply with the standard limits. This paper presents a comprehensive solution that allows a wirelessly connected electric vehicle (EV) to be autonomously charged and discharged, during long-term parking and/or transient stops. A bilayer power flow controller for bidirectional wireless power transfer system (BWPTS) in EVs applications is proposed. The proposed controller can manage the power flow between the EV and surrounding infrastructures, such as utility grid, home micro-grid, building micro-grid, road, or another vehicle. It consists of two control layers; the first is responsible for communicating with the surrounding infrastructures and gathering information from the vehicle operator, charging station, utility grid, and battery management system. These data are analyzed to generate the reference power signal with information about the mode of operation (charge, discharge, or abstain) and rate. The second layer receives the reference signal and predicts the control parameters for the resonant converters (on both the vehicle and grid sides) to track the desired power. The proposed algorithm is adaptively estimating the mutual inductance to consider the misalignments in the system, based on a new simple real-time mutual estimation algorithm using a single voltage measurement from the vehicle side. The second control layer is designed based on an accurate analytical model for the BWPTS's power flow. For verification purposes, a prototype for BWPTS was built and driven by the proposed controller, which was implemented using a field-programmable gate array integrated circuit. Also, a vehicle-level simulation was performed to validate the operation of the proposed controller in quasi-dynamic wireless charging at traffic signals. The proper magnetic design is one of the most difficult and critical phases in developing an inductive power transfer system, especially for electric vehicle charging. In this communication, a fast and an efficient improved Tabu search algorithm coupled with 2-D finite-element analysis (FEA) was used to determine the optimum design parameters of power pads. A two-objective optimization problem was investigated considering the magnetic coupling, misalignment (horizontal, vertical, and rotational), as well as the cost. The double-D power pad structure was considered as a case of study, and the most effective design parameters were obtained. The 2-D FEA was utilized to calculate the coupling factor at different misalignment conditions. For verification purposes, the system coupling performance and cost are analyzed using the optimum design parameters and compared with three other designs presented in the literature. Inductive power transfer (IPT) technology has been approved to be convenient and reliable interface for charging and discharging the electric vehicles (EVs). Precise model for such system can help designers and researchers to anticipate, optimize, and evaluate its behavior amid the development. Thus, this paper presents a physics-based co-simulation platform for the bidirectional IPT system (BIPTS) in EVs’ applications. The platform is established through the coupling between finite element and circuit analysis. The power electronic converters and controllers are developed in Simulink; and the power pads are modeled in Magnet environment. The two parts are lined together through the compatible Simulink plug-in tool. In addition, a state-space dynamic mathematical model for the same BIPTS is derived and implemented in MATLAB environment. A 1.2 kW BIPTS is analyzed under different dynamics by both models and the results are compared. The effect of the nonlinearities and the magnetic material characteristics on the BIPTS's performance is assessed, in terms of errors and harmonics analysis. The analysis considered both the full and light loading operating conditions in the system. Finally, a small-scale prototype for a BIPTS is built, tested, and compared with the co-simulation results for verification purposes. The proposed co-simulation could provide accurate prediction for the system's dynamics, during both charging and discharging operation. Electric vehicle (EV) can act as an energy consuming device or a distributed energy resource in the concepts known as vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and grid-to-vehicle (G2V). The bidirectional wireless power interface is a successful choice for this application, since it provides automatic, reliable, and safe operation. Therefore, this paper presents modeling and assessment analysis for the steady-state performance of bidirectional inductive wireless power transfer system (BIWPTS) in EV implementations. The analysis is presented for the three main compensation configurations: LC-series, LC-parallel, and LCL-topology. Moreover, the steady-state equivalent circuit-based mathematical models for all topologies are developed. These models were used to precisely determine the system response during V2G and G2V operations based on Fourier series. The study presents evident criteria to pick among the different BIWPTS structures in the diverse applications. The proposed analyses were verified both in simulation and experiment. The results demonstrate the ability of the proposed models to provide accurate estimation for BIWPTS performance under various operating and control conditions. Also, the evaluation analysis shows that LCL-topology is more appropriate for the bidirectional operation due to the simple design and control requirements, and being less sensitive to the misalignment. A flexible, automatic, reliable, and safe charging and discharging system for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid EVs is crucial in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) operation. The bidirectional inductive wireless power transfer system (BIWPTS) is an ideal solution in this situation. With authentic power-flow models for the BIWPTS in hand, designers and operators can predict, optimize, and analyze the interaction performance between the EV and the grid. Thus, this paper presents a harmonics-based theoretical power-flow model for BIWPTS for charging and discharging EVs in V2G applications. The proposed model provides accurate estimation for the active and reactive power flow during V2G and grid-to-vehicle modes. Moreover, the impact of the circuit losses and harmonics, due to the high-frequency power inverters, on the power-flow performance is investigated. This effect is stated mathematically by four novel power-flow criteria formulas. New conditions for achieving maximum active and reactive power, and unity and zero power-factor system operation, are also developed. The sensitivity of the circuit performance to the variation of its parameters has been studied. For validation purposes, a computer-based model and experimental platform of BIWPTS for EV applications are developed and tested. This paper presents a clear methodology for achieving the optimum design of LCL bidirectional inductive wireless power transfer system (BIWPTS) for electric vehicle applications. The proposed strategy depends on electromagnetic field computations joined with analytical models. A 3-D finite-element model for 8-kW polarized double-D power pad was modeled, optimized, and built. Moreover, the choice of the power factor correction and the impedance matching elements was investigated. Following the proposed design considerations, a BIWPTS model was developed in MATLAB Simulink and its outcomes were compared with the theoretical model results. In addition, a small scale prototype was assembled using the same design with reduced dc voltage levels. This paper presents an improved complex-vector dynamic model for a three-phase induction machine (IM) with stator interturn short-circuit fault. The paper proposes an accurate and meaningful approach to the faulty stator leakage inductance and describes a nonlinear phenomenon in the faulty circuit. The asymmetric model is developed in detail and represented in state-space (SS) form with the flux-linkages as the SS variable. Based on the proposed model, steady-state complex-vector, operational, and sequence component equivalent circuits are derived for fault detection and identification purposes. For reasons of verification, the model is simulated in MatLab environment and experimentally corroborated for a 1HP three-phase squirrel-cage IM. The simulations and experiments are compared at no-load and loading condition for both transient and steady-state response. The permanent regime analysis studies the model with respect to the fault severity factor, fault resistance, and load variation. The [3 + 2] cycloaddition synthesis of new series of chromene-pyrazole hybrids was the focus of this research. New chromene-based enaminones were synthesized and used as reactive ethylene derivatives in this study. The respective nitrilimines, or three-atom-components (TACs), were prepared in situ by the action of triethylamine on the appropriate hydrazonyl chlorides. The desired reaction was carried out in benzene for 3 h, yielding the target hybrids in 81–93% yields. The structure of the regioisomeric products was confirmed as 4-aroylpyrazoles rather than 5-aroyl analogues using both 1D and 2D NMR techniques. To better understand the regioselectivity observed in this [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction, DFT calculations were performed at the B3LYP/6–31+ G (d,p) computational level. The increased stability of 4-aroylpyrazoles and the possibility that they are the regioisomeric products are supported by the above calculations. Local reactivity indexes, NBO, and MEP mapping were used at the same calculation level to shed more light on the regioselectivity in the desired reaction by pinpointing the preferred regions for electrophilic and nucleophilic attack. We looked at two possible interactions between TACs and ethylene derivatives. A new derivative of hydrazide family, 2-(2-hydrazinyl-1,6-dihydro-6-oxopyrimidin-4-yl) acetohydrazide (HDOP) is synthesized and used as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel both in 1 M HCl and 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 solutions. A facial synthesis of a novel hydrazinyl hydrazide derivative is accomplished via a one-pot synthesis. Reaction of ethyl 2 -( 1 , 2 , 3 , 6 - tetrahydro - 6 - oxo - 2 - thiopyrimidin - 4 - yl ) acetate ( 1 ) with hydrazine hydrate in an ethanol refluxing produces the target hydrazinyl hydrazide derivative in a good yield. Different techniques such as IR, NMR and mass spectroscopy are used for characterization of the obtained products. The inhibition of mild steel corrosion using HDOP in different concentrations is studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and polarization measurements. The inhibition efficiency ( IE ) of HDOP is found to be higher in HCl than that in H 2 SO 4 solution. This is attributed to the stronger adsorption of Cl − on the iron surface which enables better synergism between Cl − and the protonated inhibitor. The HDOP acts mainly as a cathodic inhibitor (in both acid solutions) and an inhibition efficiency of ∼89% was obtained in the HCl solution. The free energy of adsorption obtained by applying Langmuir adsorption isotherm predicts physisorption of HDOP on the iron surface in the HCl solution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

3-Hydrazino-2,7,8,9-tetrahydro-1H-benzo [6′,7′]cyclohepta[1′,2′:4,5] pyrido[2,3-d] pyrimidin-1-one (5) was prepared in good yield by reaction of 3 or 4 with hydrazine hydrate under reflux. Reaction of compound 5 with different aldehydes in acetic acid gave the corresponding hydrazono derivatives 7. Cyclization of the latter compounds with bromine in acetic acid afforded a series of novel pentacyclic compounds namely, 5,6,7,11-tetrahydro-15H-benzo[ 6″',7″']cyclohepta[1″',2″:4′,5′]pyrido[2′,3′-d][1,2,4] triazolo[4,3-a]pyrimidin-15-ones (11af). In addition, reaction of compound 5 with β-diketones and a-diketone were investigated. Abstract: Syntheses of 2,5-diarylthiazole and 2,5-diarylthiophene derivatives bearing ethynylene and thienylene spacers are performed. With the methods for coupling reactions of terminal alkynes and at the CH bond of heteroaromatic compounds, which we have developed, five kinds of thiazole and thiophene derivatives 3–7 are prepared. Abstract: Sonogashira coupling with aqueous ammonia is tolerable for the reaction of aryl iodides or terminal alkynes bearing an azobenzene group. The reaction of (4-heptyloxyphenyl)ethyne with (4-heptyloxyphenyl)-(4-iodophenyl)diazene in the presence of 1mol% of PdCl2(PPh3)2, 2mol% of CuI, and 2equiv of 0.5M aqueous ammonia gives the corresponding azotolane in 87% isolated yield after stirring at room temperature for 15h. This paper proposes a simple single-phase new pulse-width modulated seven-level inverter architecture for photovoltaic (PV) systems supporting home-grid with electric vehicle (EV) charging port. The proposed inverter includes a reduced number of power components and passive elements size, while showing less output-voltage total harmonic distortion (THD), and unity power factor operation. In addition, the proposed inverter requires simple control and switching strategies compared to recently published topologies. A comparative study was performed to compare the proposed inverter structure with the recent inverter topologies based on the number of components in the inverter circuit, number of components per output-voltage level, average number of active switches, THD, and operating efficiency as effective parameters for inverter performance evaluation. For design and validation purposes, numerical and analytical models for a grid-tied solar PV system driven by the proposed seven-level inverter were developed in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The inverter performance was evaluated considering grid-integration and stand-alone home with level-2 AC EV charger (3–6 kW). Compared with recently published topologies, the proposed inverter utilizes a reduced number of power components (7 switches) for seven-level terminal voltage synthesis. An experimental prototype for proposed inverter with the associated controller was built and tested for a stand-alone and grid-integrated system. Due to the lower number of ON-switches, the inverter operating efficiency was enhanced to 92.86% with load current THD of 3.43% that follows the IEEE standards for DER applications. Interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma is a rare haematological neoplasm with high debatable management protocols. The data extracted from 127 case reports published between 1981 and 2018 were analysed. The median age at diagnosis was 58 years with a male to female ratio of 1.65:1. The median OS and PFS of IDCS were 12 and 6 months, respectively, with a disease-specific mortality rate of 36.4%. Two-thirds of patients had a localised disease, while 30% had a disseminated form with 1-year mortality rates of 21.1% and 78.9%, respectively. Twenty per cent of cases were associated with other malignancies. Histologically, the proliferation of large spindle-shaped cells with fascicular growth was described in 84.3% of cases. Based on Cox-regression model, surgical resection was the only treatment modality linked to survival improvement with no recorded survival benefits of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
