The objective of the study is to determine the preferred woods based on the analysis of different attributes for the production of furniture in the province of Cabinda, Angola. A population belonging to the municipalities of Cabinda, Cacongo, Buco Zau and Belize is used. The method used to measure the preferences of the specialists was the Hierarchical Analysis Process, based on a survey of personnel specialized in the processing and use of wood and professors of the Forestry Engineering Course at the University "11 de Noviembre" in Cabinda. To determine the quality of planning of highly abundant woods in Cabinda, the ASTM-D-1666-2004 Standard was used. The favorite woods in the furniture market are Guarea cedrata, Lovoa trichiliodes, Grossweilerodendrum balsimifera, Ballonella toxisperma and Clorophora excelsa. The result of the hierarchical analysis of the process shows that the most widely accepted species is Grossweilerodendrum balsimifera, presenting an acceptance range of 56%. There is a preference for woods with light colors, which is supported by the fact that, among the five preferred woods, three have light shades, representing 70.33% of the total sample analyzed. During the analysis of brushing quality, positive results are seen for the species Entandrophragma angolensis, Entandrophragma cilindricum and Terminalia superba; since they have an average of 24.4 blade marks per centimeter. The objective of this work was to the characteristics of the planing tests on the wood of Pinus caribaea Morelet var. caribaea Barret and Golfari, Acacia mangium Willd, Gmelina arborea Roxb, Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merril and Eucalyptus saligna Sm.The study material was obtained in plantations located in the agroforestry companies Pinar del Rio, Macurije and Costa Sur in the provinces of Pinar del Rio and Artemisa, Cuba. The planning tests, the evaluation of defects and classification were carried out according to ASTM D- 1666-2004 and DIN/ISO 1302: 2002.ASTM D-1666-2004 and Norma DIN/ISO 1302. The research was developed with the objective of determining the applicability in the furniture industry from the wood planning characteristics of Pinus caribaea species Morelet var Caribaea Barrett and Golfari, Acacia mangium Willd., Gmelina arborea Roxb., Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merril and Eucalyptus saligna in the Agro Forest Enterprise Macurije, Pinar del Rio and Artemisa. The machining tests, the evaluation of defects and classification were performed according to ASTM-D 1666-87. The results obtained show that the species studied have potential to be used in the furniture industry. Among the combinations used, the most adequate resulted for Pinus caribaea, Gmelina arborea and Acacia Mangium, the combination number 2 (speed rate 7,32 m*min-1, number of knife 3, cutting angle 300 and cutter-head speed 6200 rpm). On the other hand, for the Eucalyptus saligna and Samanea saman the most adequate resulted the combination 1 (speed rate 7,32 m*min-1, number of knife 3, cutting angle 200 and cutter-head speed 6200 rpm).
