Objective To explore the clinical features and outcomes of excised breast masses in children. Methods From January 2010 to May 2021, retrospective review was conducted for 34 children undergoing breast mass excision. There were 6 boys and 28 girls. The outcomes were followed up by outpatient visits or telephone interviews. Results Mean age in girls was (12.1±2.0) years with primary symptoms of palpable breast mass (28/28, 100%) and abnormal appearance (6/28, 21.4%).The average duration of symptoms was 3.00 (0.25-60.00) months. Two major preoperative examinations were ultrasonography (27/28, 96.4%) and computed tomography (13/28, 46.4%). Periareolar incision (10/28, 35.7%) and perimammary incision (9/28, 32.1%) were performed. All excised masses in girls were benign with a predominance of fibroadenoma (23/28, 82.1%). The sensitivity of preoperative ultrasonography for diagnosing fibroadenoma was 90.9%(20/22).Mean age in boys was (4.5±4.2) years with the same primary symptoms of palpable breast mass (6/6, 100%) and abnormal appearance (2/6, 33.3%).Breast mass resection was performed for benign tumors (n=4) and mastectomy and chest wall tumor resection for with secretory breast carcinoma and synoviosarcoma in chest wall (n=2). Twenty-nine children (29/34, 85.3%) were followed up. Among girls with fibroadenomas, 2(2/20, 10.0%) had recurrence, 1(1/20, 5.0%) had postoperative residue and 1(1/20, 5.0%) presented with a mass in contralateral breast. One boy with synoviosarcoma received postoperative radiochemotherapy and recovered well. The remainders had a decent prognosis. Conclusions Fibroadenoma is a major pathologic type in girls with breast mass. Ultrasound may assist in preoperative diagnosis. It is necessary to watch for postoperative residue and recurrence. The age of boys with breast mass is often young and the possibility of malignant tumor should be considered. The prognosis in children is decent after a complete resection of breast mass. Background/Aims: Renal biopsy is the gold standard to determine the pathologic type of primary nephrotic syndrome, which is critical for diagnosis, choice of treatment and evaluation of prognosis. However, in some cases, renal biopsy cannot be performed. Methods: To explore the possibility of predicting the histology type of primary nephrotic syndrome without the need for biopsy, we trained and validated a machine learning algorithm using data from 222 patients with biopsy-confirmed primary nephrotic syndrome treated at our hospital between May 2008 and January 2016. The model was then tested prospectively on another sample of 63 patients with biopsy-confirmed primary nephrotic syndrome. Results: Overall accuracy of prediction from the retrospective set of 222 patients was 62.2% across all types of nephrotic syndrome. The accuracy of model prediction for the prospectively collected dataset of 63 patients was 61.9%. The algorithm identified 17 of 33 variables as contributing strongly to type of renal pathology. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first such application of machine learning to predict the pathologic type of primary nephrotic syndrome, which may be clinically useful by itself as well as helpful for guiding future efforts at machine learningbased prediction in other disease contexts. Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of hodgkin's lymphoma （HL） patients . Method　The clinical data of HL patients in our hospital from January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2012 were analyzed retrospectively. The contents of investigation included gender, age, pathological type, first symptom, the incidence locations, clinical stages, extranodal involvement locations, ECOG and treatments．Results　A total of 143 cases of HL were included， the M/F ratio was 2.5:1 with a median age of 37 years （11~73years）. The most frequent subtypes of HL were mixed cellular （34.3%） and nodular sclerosis （28.0%）. The nodal lymphomas accounted for 97.2%， while the extranodal lymphomas occupied 2.1%. The nodal lymphomas with extranodal invasion accounted for 29.5%，and the common locations were spleen （14.4%），lung （5.8%）and bone （5.0%）. The most clinical stage of all patients was stage Ⅰ/Ⅱ（60.8%），The differences were no significant in gender, pathological type，first symptom，the incidence locations and the effective rate of the first-line treatment （P＞0.05），while were statistically significant in B symptoms，ECOG and treatments between Ⅰ/Ⅱgroups and Ⅲ/Ⅳ groups （P＜0.05）. Conclusions　In this group，the incidence of HL patients were mainly found in middle-aged people，males were lager than females. The pathological type，first symptom and the incidence locations had no obvious effect on clinical stage. The clinical stage had no obvious influence on the effective rate of the first-line treatment. Objective: To determine whether different methods of hemostasis and pathologic subtypes would lead to significant differences regarding ovarian reserve after laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy.Study Design: Data were prospectively collected from 129 patients who underwent laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy with either a hemostatic sealant (FloSeal or TachoSil) or bipolar coagulation to achieve hemostasis. Serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels as measured by enzyme immunoassay. Measurements were made preoperatively and at 3 months postsurgery in each group [bipolar coagulator group (n=43), FloSeal group (n=46), and TachoSil group (n=40)].Results: Age, BMI, parity, sociodemographic variables, and preoperative AMH levels were similar between the three groups of patients. At 3 months post-surgery, the AMH decline rate was significantly greater in the bipolar coagulation group compared with the two hemostatic sealant groups (41.2% [IQR, 16.7-52.4] vs. 15.4% [IQR, 5.2-41.9], respectively; P=0.003). However, the AMH decline rates of the two hemostatic sealant groups (FloSeal and TachoSil) were not significantly different (15.4% [IQR, 7.8-44.6] vs. 15.9% [IQR, 0.7-41.1], P=0.962). Also, subgroup analysis according to ovarian cyst type revealed no significant differences in the rate of serum AMH decline regardless of the hemostatic method (bipolar group, P=0.30; FloSeal group, P=0.47, and TachoSil group, P=0.79).Conclusion: The two hemostatic sealants (FloSeal and Tachosil) did not exhibit any significant differences regarding the preservation of ovarian reserve regardless of ovarian cyst type.
