The objective of this research was to formulate mixtures of goat milk ferment with blueberry pulp, carrot puree and chicken meat. The ferment was obtained with goat milk and was subsequently mixed with blueberry, carrot or chicken meat, proportion 50:50 (% v/v). Each formulation was microbiologically evaluated at 7 and 30 days, counting Colony Forming Units (UFC mL -1) in M17, BSM and MRS culture media for acid lactic bacteria. The analysis of variance recorded a significant difference (p≤0.05) in evaluation days, food interaction with culture medium, after 30 days more than 1x106 CFU mL-1 were still recorded, the minimum necessary to be considered probiotic. The physicochemical characteristics that registered a significant difference (p≤0.05) were pH in chicken meat, oBx in blueberries. Regarding the content of total phenols, no significant differences (p≥0.05) were recorded in the proposed formulations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Acute kidney injury is an early-stage renal damage that can be detected by neutrophilic gelatinaseassociated lipocalin protein. Aim: To evaluate the usefulness of neutrophilic gelatinase-associated lipocalin protein as an early marker of Acute Kidney Injury. Methodology: narrative review following the PRISMA statement criteria. PubMed, Scopus, and LILACS were the databases consulted. Results: 23 articles published in the last five years were identified. The evidence shows that this protein has biochemical characteristics useful in the early diagnosis of renal injury in different situations and populations. Discussion: The behavior of NGAL has demonstrated its increase in plasma up to 2 hours after the onset of renal impairment. Likewise, its synthesis is not affected by variables such as sex, body mass index, high protein intake, excess physical activity, and alteration in glomerular filtration, which do modify Crs concentrations. Conclusions: Neutrophilic gelatinase-associated lipocalin meets the criteria to become an early biomarker for Acute Kidney Injury. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Patients on hemodialysis are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 and may have a reduced response to vaccination because of a decreased immune response. The nutritional status before or during the infection could also impact on the clinical effectiveness of vaccination. Objectives: We aim to describe the evolution of clinical and nutritional biomarkers of hemodialysis patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 and to assess their association with vaccination status. Methods: An observational, analytic, longitudinal, retrospective multicenter study was carried out in 82 patients on hemodialysis with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Nutritional status was assessed using the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI), anthropometry, and biochemical parameters. The association of the vaccine doses with clinical- and nutritional-related variables was also evaluated. Results: The percentage of vaccinated patients was similar to that of nonvaccinated patients. Before infection, most of the patients were malnourished. They presented lower albumin, creatinine, and urea levels than the well-nourished patients. Significant deterioration of nutritional status after infection was evidenced considering GNRI score, dry weight, and body mass index. Albumin and creatinine also decreased significantly after infection, whereas C-reactive protein increased in the acute phase. Significant inverse correlation was found between the variation of post–pre GNRI scores and basal albumin and C-reactive protein at 7 days. In addition, we observed the opposite trend between albumin at 30 days and basal cholesterol. A negative value in the GNRI variation was associated with bilateral pneumonia, need for hospitalization, and nutritional support. Vaccinated patients presented substantially less bilateral pneumonia and hospitalization. No significant effects were observed between vaccine doses and the variation in nutritional status, although a positive correlation was detected with the albumin at 7 days and C-reactive protein before infection and the number of vaccine doses received. Discussion: COVID-19 is associated with affectations in the nutritional status and biomarkers in hemodialysis patients. In this study, vaccines have shown a protective effect against the clinical consequences of COVID. However, they have shown limitations in preventing the deterioration of nutritional status after infection. The results highlight the importance of promoting the vaccination in these patients as well as incorporating nutritional assessment before, during, and after the infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BATCH reactors , *MANUFACTURING processes , *INDUSTRIAL efficiency , *BATCH processing , *POINT set theory , *COMPUTATIONAL fluid dynamics , *FAST reactors - Abstract
Lead recycling is very important for reducing environmental pollution risks and damages. Liquid lead is recovered from exhaust batteries inside stirred batch reactors; the process requires melting to be cleaned. Nevertheless, it is necessary to establish parameters for evaluating mixing to improve the efficiency of the industrial practices. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has become a powerful tool to analyze industrial processes for reducing operating costs, avoiding potential damages, and improving the equipment's performance. Thus, the present work is focused on simulating the fluid hydrodynamics inside a lead-stirred reactor monitoring the distribution of an injected tracer in order to find the best injection point. Then, different injected points are placed on a control plane for evaluation; these are evaluated one by one by monitoring the tracer concentration at a group of points inside the batch. The analyzed reactor is a symmetrical, vertical batch reactor with two geometrical sections: one cylindrical body and a semi-spherical bottom. Here, one impeller with four flat blades in a shaft is used for lead stirring. The tracer concentration on the monitoring points is measured and averaged for evaluating the efficiency inside the tank reactor. Hydrodynamics theory and a comparison between the concentration profiles and distribution of tracer curves are used to demonstrate both methods' similarities. Then, the invariability of the tracer concentration on the monitoring points is adopted as the main parameter to evaluate the mixing, and the best injection point is found as a function of the shortest mixing time. Additionally, the influence of the impeller rotation speed is analyzed as an additional control parameter to improve industrial practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HUMAN papillomavirus vaccines , *CANCER vaccines , *VACCINE development , *HEPATITIS B vaccines , *HEPATITIS B virus - Abstract
Vaccines against hepatitis B virus (HBV) and human papillomaviruses (HPV) are two safe and highly effective vaccines that were developed at the end of the 20th century and can prevent human cancer. HBV vaccine prevents liver cancer, and HPV prevents cervical and other HPV-related cancers. Starting with the immunogen identification, 15 years were necessary to reach the industrial production of HBV vaccine, and 20 years, for the HPV vaccines. However, while HBV vaccines have been commercially available for over 40 years and are used in most countries, there are still significant challenges to achieve universal childhood immunization against hepatitis B. Similarly, HPV vaccines have been commercially available for 17 years, and yet, countries with higher cervical cancer still have the lowest HPV vaccination rates. We describe the development of HBV and HPV vaccines and discuss the challenges to reaching equitable access to these vaccines in Latin America. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article aims to analyze the ethnic affiliation of anthropology students who participated in the 2019 Anthropology Student Survey in order to explore the elements that constitute their self-identification with an indigenous or Afrodescendant people. To achieve this, a methodological review of the principles used in the survey to generate ethnic recognition is initially conducted, with the purpose of exploring which variables influence these students to recognize themselves as part of an ethnic-racial group. Subsequently, a series of inferences are made based on the explored results to demonstrate the use of identities and the complexity involved in self-identifying with these groups. REFLECTION high energy electron diffraction , *NITROGEN plasmas , *MOLECULAR beam epitaxy , *REACTIVE nitrogen species - Abstract
We report on the optical characterization of a nitrogen plasma source based on radiofrequency (RF) used to grow III-nitride materials by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) was used to study the nitrogen plasma response as a function of the RF power applied and the flow rate of molecular nitrogen. Analysis of the intensities of spectral signals assigned to atomic and molecular species and the ratio of these intensities is performed in detail. The OES results show that the plasma source studied is sensitive to the RF power applied to produce an atomic nitrogen signal, while varying the incoming flow impacts the signal of metastable nitrogen molecules; this outcome allows for the determination of conditions under which certain types of nitrogen species are favored over others. InN films were grown on AlN-buffered Si(111) substrates by MBE under different plasma operational parameters, where, according to the OES studies, atomic nitrogen or excited molecular nitrogen is favored in the plasma. In situ reflection high-energy electron diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and x-ray diffraction techniques were employed to characterize the InN samples. It is found that the surface morphology of the InN films is highly sensitive to the plasma conditions. A transition in the growth mode from smooth compact films to coalesced islands and columnar structures is observed when the dominant reactive species is atomic nitrogen or excited molecular nitrogen. The results of the characterization are discussed and correlated with the reactive nitrogen species present in the plasma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The purpose of this article is to explain how the crisis of the family institution implies a crisis in the human subject, which from its own autonomy and freedom proposes as life project to form a family. The analysis model is centered on this configuration of the new forms of family, mediated by the influence of technologies, especially digital photographs, or selfies, as forms of daily expression where the story or narrative is no longer present; it is replaced by image. The research methodology is phenomenological hermeneutics, mediated by a technological device that is as well a generator of meaning: the selfie as an entire fabric of humanity that is present in both spaces of reality and virtuality. The task from education is to be proactive with a sense of hope, building new meanings with young people so that these new forms of family become spaces of love for them. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MEDICATION errors , *MEDICATION reconciliation , *INAPPROPRIATE prescribing (Medicine) , *MEDICATION safety , *CAREGIVERS - Abstract
Background: About 70% of neurologists report that PD patients do not get their medication properly when hospitalized, and 33% are prescribed contraindicated drugs. Objectives: To execute medication reconciliation (MedRec) focused on antiparkinsonian drugs to identify, characterize and, eventually, prevent medication errors, thus promoting therapeutic quality and safety in daily practice. Methods: An interventional, single‐center, 1 year, prospective study. All the patients who were hospitalized and had, at least, one active prescription containing an antiparkinsonian drug at hospital admission were included. MedRec was performed by following a three‐phased check: inpatient electronic prescription validation after assessing the outpatient medication schedule, review of the latest clinical report emitted by the Neurology Department/General Practitioner, and pharmacist‐driven interview of the patient and/or caregiver to confirm the information regarding medication gathered. Results: A total of 171 admission episodes from 132 patients were registered (February 1, 2021, and January 31, 2022). Of 224 prescription lines involving antiparkinsonian drugs, 179 contained, at least, one medication error (59.8%). Commission errors (91.62%) were more frequent than omitted drugs (8.38%). The most common medication errors were related to timing (41.90%), frequency (21.23%), and dosing (19.55%). The implementation of this program prevented the erroneous administration of 2716 antiparkinsonian doses, 60% of the total number of doses prescribed. Interestingly, a significant relationship between the number of medication errors and having levodopa prescribed was evidenced (P < 0.05). A contraindicated drug was prescribed in almost one‐third of the episodes (29.82%). Conclusions: Clinical pharmacists' implementation of an antiparkinsonians reconciliation program sharply reduced medication errors and prescription of contraindicated drugs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SUPPLY & demand , *INFORMATION resources , *TOURISM , *TOURISTS , *TOURISM websites - Abstract
The aim of the work is to offer an evolutionary and updated analysis of the tourism reality of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia (Spain). The proposed study is based on the use of the traditional quantitative variables (supply and demand) in their projection on a specific territorial space (Andalusia), of exceptional tourist relevance, but also of great complexity and diversity. It reflects on the value and representativeness of these variables for the territorial-tourist study, based on the official sources of information available, offering a proposal for specific indicators. For the case study, the important quantitative weight and general growth of tourism activity during the period analysed (2008-2022) is confirmed, which is accompanied by some certainly significant and interesting processes of change and restructuring, both in the internal conformation of supply and in certain patterns of demand behaviour. KALLIKREIN , *STALLIONS , *SEMEN analysis , *HORSE breeds , *HORSE breeding , *SPERM motility - Abstract
Horses are seasonal polyoestrous animals, and the photoperiod is the main factor modulating their reproductive activity. There is no consensus on the andrological and biochemical factors that influence breeding seasonality. To assess the involvement of climate in reproduction, Mangalarga Marchador stallions were monitored over 1 year regarding semen quality and seminal plasma proteome. Here, we show that kallikrein (KLKs) proteoforms in seminal plasma are involved in climate conditioning of reproduction. During the breeding season, greater abundance and different types of KLKs occurred simultaneously to lower sperm motility, greater semen volumes and higher concentrations of glucose and cholesterol. Considering that vasodilation due to activation of the kallikrein-kinin system and the consequent inhibition of the renin-angiotensin system may be associated with lower sperm motility, unravelling the involvement of KLK proteoforms in reproductive seasonality is a priority in horse breeding. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between matchday wellness status and a technical–tactical performance construct during rugby match-play. One hundred and thirty-three male rugby union players (73 forwards and 60 backs) from five under-18 national squads who participated in the under-18 Six Nations competition completed a subjective wellness questionnaire on each matchday morning. Players subjectively rated each item (sleep quality, fatigue, muscle soreness, stress and mood) on a five-point Likert scale to calculate their daily wellness status (i.e. difference between matchday and baseline perceived wellness). Technical–tactical performance during match-play was quantified by coding individual key performance indicators (e.g. number of carries, number of tackles). Partial least squares correlation analysis (PLSCA) was employed to compute the latent variables of perceived wellness status (X matrix) and technical–tactical performance (Y matrix) for each player observation (n = 271). The latent variables are a construct of each variable group, enabling higher dimensional data to be visualised more simply. Linear mixed-effect models were later conducted to assess the relationships between the latent variables. The effect of perceived wellness status on technical–tactical performance was statistically significant in forwards (p =.042), not statistically significant in backs (p =.120) and accounted for 4.9% and 1.9% variance in the technical–tactical performance construct, respectively. The findings of this study suggest that perceived wellness status can influence technical–tactical match performance, but the practical significance of these findings should be interpreted with caution given the amount of variance in technical–tactical performance accounted by the models. The primary goal of this research study is to measure and compare quality service metrics between light communication technology (Li-Fi), wired connection (Gigabit-Ethernet), and 2.4Hz wireless connection (Wi-Fi). Upload speed, packet download, and real time video are measured by using transfer tools and are monitored with specialized software. The results show stability in throughput and bandwidth for Li-Fi (23 Mbps), Gigabit-Ethernet (17 to 19 Mbps), and Wi-Fi (19 to 24 Mbps). Measured speeds are 6.6 to 6.9 Mbps for Li-Fi, 17 to 19 Mbps for Gigabit-Ethernet, and 19 to 24 Mbps for Wi-Fi. Power values differed by 11W between technologies. In conclusion, Li-Fi improves service quality without metric (throughput and bandwidth) oscillations in local networks, but with the caveat of consuming more power. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this paper is to make a critical analysis of the novel El olvido que seremos by Héctor Abad Faciolince. After its publication in 2006, this novel quickly became a bestseller of memory in Colombia for the testimonial value of the narration and for the editorial platform that supported it. However, a critical approximation shows that this novel is articulated like a classist, heteropatriarchal, and hegemonic representation of memory. In this sense, the purpose of this work is to analyze the textual and intertextual mechanisms that configure this memory modulation in order to open a discussion that allows not only to make visible more inclusive memories but also to avoid the institutionalization of some memories and the consequent invisibilization of diverse subjectivities and violence. One of the few universal programs in Latin America is the Food Pension for Adults Older than 68 (PAAM) of Mexico City, which aims to reduce food insecurity while generating food well-being among that age group. Previous evaluations and studies have concluded that the program has a low effect on food security because of a lack of targeting on the poorest and most-vulnerable people. For this reason, the goal of this study was to determine the effects of the program by homogenous groups, based on their socioeconomic and health characteristics, because it is possible that a program could affect subgroups of participants differently. We used data from the EVPAAM survey (2016), in three stages. In the first stage, we used clustering to identify homogenous subgroups; in the second stage, we used propensity scores matching; and in the third stage, we estimated the program's impact in each cluster. Results show that the apparent low impact of the PAMM in the clusters cannot be attributed to the program's universality but to the profound food insecurity and to problems with motor skills and comorbidities in this age group; therefore, the program could not improve food well-being in all subgroups. BIOACTIVE compounds , *PEPPERS , *OXIDANT status , *FOOD pathogens , *ANTIOXIDANTS - Abstract
Habanero pepper is a good source of bioactive compounds with antioxidant capacity; however, up to now, some factors for increasing their extraction have not been investigated yet. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of solid‐to‐solvent ratio (1:250, 1:45, and 1:25 w/V), temperature (20, 35, and 50°C), and time (6, 15, and 24 hr) on the extraction of bioactive compounds and antioxidant capacity from habanero pepper following a Box–Behnken design. The optimal extract was evaluated in its capsaicinoids content by HPLC and as an antimicrobial against two foodborne pathogens. The response surface models adequately adjusted (R2 >.75) experimental data of bioactive compounds extraction from habanero pepper in the ranges of the variables proposed. Extract obtained under the optimal conditions (1:250 w/V, 50°C, and 24 hr) contains 1,617.9 mg/100 g and 628.0 mg/100 g of capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin, respectively, showing a reduction of 1.23 ± 0.14 and 2.37 ± 0.10 log cycles for S. Typhimurium and S. aureus, respectively. Novelty impact statement: Extraction of bioactive compounds from natural sources is currently on the rise. However, regardless the use of traditional or novel extraction technologies is necessary for the evaluation of factors that may affect the yield of bioactive compounds extraction. Habanero pepper is a well‐known source of bioactive compounds with antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. However, until the moment, the effect of factors, such as temperature, time, solid‐to‐solvent ratio, etc., has been scarcely studied. Thus, this study may be a good starting point for future research on the extraction of bioactive compounds from the habanero pepper and find potential applications in food, biotechnological, pharmaceutical, among other industries. The increased demand to produce large quantities of meat and animal products for human consumption has promoted the indiscriminate use of antimicrobials. The increased use of these substances in the production of poultry, has negative consequences on Public Health due to the fact that the accumulation of antimicrobial residues in the organs and tissues of poultry might reach the consumer. The presence of antimicrobial residues can cause problems of hypersensitivity in humans, or the emergence of antimicrobial resistant pathogens. The purpose of this work was to assess the presence of antimicrobial residues in kidney and muscle tissue of poultry, commercialized in four municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara, Jalisco. The results show that kidney samples had a higher number of positive results compared to muscle tissue. Inhibitors of the folate pathway (sulfamethazine) were the antimicrobials with the highest number of positive results in kidney samples. In contrast, in muscle tissue, β-Lactam (penicillin) were the antimicrobials with the highest number of positive samples. Regarding the analysis of the results by municipalities, it was observed that one of them showed a greater number of positive samples for all the classes of antimicrobials evaluated. This work shows the presence of antimicrobial residues in kidney and muscle tissues of poultry, commercialized in retail sites. Therefore, it is necessary to increase efforts to monitor and control the use of antimicrobial in poultry farms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The arrival of a new government, the self-appointed fourth transformation, it represents the opening of an “opportunity” to address the pending issues of the country’s transformation and democratic consolidation agenda. This focuses on two controversies: 1. The redesign of the territorial structure of municipal governments in Mexico. 2. The capacity of the Mexican State to produce social welfare and generate citizen support for democracy. In order to approach the analysis, we have proposed the following structure of the work: 1. Explain the theoretical approach that covers the present analysis. 2. Introduce a brief historical context of the democratization process in Latin America. 3. The number of local governments is analyzed, and linked them to the demographic and territorial variables. 4. Analyze support for democracy and citizen perception of economic well-being in Latin America, Mexico and Spain. Finally, a section is allocated to the conclusions drawn from the work. e present work brings together a series of proposals on the structure and content of a section of the Codex Cardona based on some digital images from the 1980s; for which it focuses on the analysis of three pages of the "Relationship of the Lordship of Xochimilco and the Republic of Indians of Chalco" which is set in the 1550s. As is well known, this relationship is not known in its original of the century XVI, which is why the content and information contained in the Cardona Codex draws attention. In addition to this, the Cardona text maintains parallels with other documents of the time, which allows us to suppose that it is a copy or reworking of other historical documents. Assertiveness, as an important element of interpersonal competency, is essential in effective conflict resolution. The nursing profession is associated with intense contacts in the therapeutic team, so this profession recognizes the need to use an assertive attitude, which allows defending one's dignity, expressing opinions and emotions for another person. This research aims to assess the assertive competencies of nurses in the city of Guayaquil through neutrosophic statistics. The neutrosophic population proportion was estimated with 99% of reliability, which leads us to conclude that assertive communication skills in nurses in the city of Guayaquil are generally very good in terms of empathy and the ability to work with emotions, assertiveness in conflict situations, and communication skills. LIQUID phase epitaxy , *CARRIER density , *GALLIUM antimonide , *CHROMIUM-cobalt-nickel-molybdenum alloys , *N-type semiconductors , *BAND gaps , *PLASMA frequencies , *DIELECTRIC function - Abstract
We investigated p- and n-type In 0.145 Ga 0.855 As 0.108 Sb 0.892 semiconductor alloys grown on GaSb (100) substrates by the liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) technique with different Zinc (Zn) and Tellerium (Te) mole fractions, respectively. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra showed a band gap narrowing effect for p-type doping and a band gap widening for n-type doping, attributed to the type of carrier concentration. The carrier concentration was determined from the band-to-band transition of the PL spectra in the range of 1.20 × 1016 to 2.80 × 1017 and 7.75 × 1016 to 1.02 × 1018 cm−3 for electrons and holes, respectively. Raman spectroscopy measurements showed the phonon modes LO (GaSb–InAs)-like and TO (GaSb–InAs)-like for both types of doping. The frequency dispersion of these modes is closely tied to the presence of native defects, such as vacancies of Ga(V Ga), antisites of Ga in Sb (Ga Sb), and V Ga –Ga Sb complexes. Incorporation of Zn- and Te-doping into the lattice led to a notable reduction in the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the LO (GaSb–InAs)-like mode, as these dopants effectively diminished native defects. A detailed model is presented for the incorporation of dopants and their effect on the crystal quality. Phonon–plasmon coupling was observed through the L − mode, which overlaps with the TO (GaSb–InAs)-like mode for the carrier concentrations observed in the doped alloys. A theoretical estimation of the frequencies of the coupled modes L + and L − was implemented as a function of the carrier concentration, based on the effective dielectric function of the quaternary compound. The L + coupled mode shifts from the phononic to the plasmonic domain for theoretical electron concentrations ranging from ∼ 1017 to 5 × 1018 cm−3, while in p-type conductivity, the L + mode remains in the phononic domain for the same range of hole concentrations. The increase in the frequency of the L + mode with carrier concentration, such as the plasma frequency, provides another reliable method for determining carrier concentrations. This study reveals the physical mechanism of Zn an Te incorporation into InGaAsSb, which is required for the integration of p- and n-type doped quaternary alloys into optoelectronic applications. In addition, it provides a comprehensive understanding of the complex interaction mechanisms, including LO phonon–plasmon coupling modes and optical transitions, opening up new lines for exploring the electrical and structural properties of these materials. [Display omitted] • The Zinc doping process reduces native Ga vacancies in InGaAsSb alloys. • Te dopant incorporates into Sb sites, decreasing the number of Ga antisites in Sb. • P-type Zn dopants induce a band gap narrowing of InGaAsSb alloys. • N-type Te dopants generate a carrier-dependent band gap widening. • Phonon–plasmon coupling transitions from phononic to plasmonic regimen. Background: The specialized literature provides solid evidence that substance use disorders (SUD) and personality disorders (PD) are interrelated. Given the relative novelty of the Alternative Model for PD, there are still few studies that have analyzed the relationship between the different facets, substance use disorder, and the various consumption profiles. Objective: This paper analyzes the relationship between the facets of the Alternative Model for PD and different substance use disorder profiles, using the facet scores obtained in a sample of substance use disorder patients and comparing these with normative scores. A comparison is also conducted between types of patients.Method: The Personality Inventory for DSM-5-SF was administered to a sample of 289 patients diagnosed with SUD who began treatment for alcohol (ALC), cannabis (CAN), cocaine (COC), or heroin (HER) use disorder. A latent class analysis was conducted and scores obtained for each of the classes were compared with normative scores. Logistic regression analyzes were carried out to determine which facets and domains show the greatest explanatory capacity of belonging to each latent class. Results: Four patient profiles were identified on the basis of their SUD: polydrug use (POLY), COC-HER, ALC, and CAN. When comparing the groups with the normative population, POLY presented higher scores on all the domains, COC-HER and ALC on all domains except antagonism, and CAN showed higher scores on detachment and psychoticism. The CAN cluster presented lower scores than the other 3 groups in different domains. No statistically significant differences were observed on any domain between the groups POLY and COC - HER, while differences were found between the classes POLY and ALC for the detachment domain. Conclusions: The results help to identify the personality profiles associated with various SUD profiles. In particular, patients from the groups POLY, COC-HER, and ALC present high scores on pathological facets related to borderline PD and schizotypal PD (all 3), and antisocial PD (POLY), while the CAN cluster is more normalized and its pathological facets are related to the schizotypal PD. Patients with POLY have a greater tendency toward pathological personality, with the involvement of a large number of facets, while COC-HER and ALC show a slightly less severe profile, and CAN users are characterized by lower scores, but high detachment and psychoticism. The aim of this paper is to carry out a general analysis of some objects that appear in the novels of Tomás González. Specifically, this work focuses on the way that the objects operate and are formed in relation to subjectivities and specific practices. In this sense, this analysis interacts with several interdisciplinary approaches about the objects, such as the ones developed by A. Moles, G. Dorfles, M. Perrot and W. Benjamin, among others. Thus, this analysis demonstrates González's intention of expanding the objects categorial regime beyond the functionality domain and accumulation toward a regime of visibility constituted sensitively and affectively. The interaction of public institutions with the community and other social actors is a practice that is being transformed worldwide due to the recognition of citizens as fundamental actors in decision-making on public affairs, and the incorporation of digital platforms in their management. The public communication perspective argues that beyond disseminating information, government institutions should promote practices of participation, dialogue and debate by citizens to achieve social transformation. In this context, the research presented below corresponds to a Multiple Case Study that set out to analyze, from a mainly qualitative perspective, the digital publications of six Colombian governorships, carried out between October and November 2019, to characterize their communication practices and determine whether they carry out public communication processes. Introduction: The dying process has historically shifted from family and home settings to healthcare professionals and hospital settings. Caring involves attitudes, knowledge and skills that should be acquired and honed through nursing training. Objective: To explore nursing staff attitudes who work in critical hospital departments when faced with the process of dying patients. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted using a non-probability convenience sampling, from which a final sample of 71 professional nurses who work in critical departments of higher-level specialty hospitals in Tabasco, Mexico was obtained. The CAM-2 Attitudes Towards Death instrument originally developed by Martin & Salovely was translated and applied. Results: The average age of nursing professionals participating in this study were 32.5 years (SD=7), of which 71.8% were women. 67.6% of nurses had an attitude of indifference to death and only 9.9% had a positive attitude. From an attitude of fear perspective, 46.5% of the nurses expressed that thinking about death causes them anxiety, while 39.4% considered the death of patients as something natural. Conclusions: Nursing staff feel indifferent to patient care when facing death. However, nurses believe that accepting their own death leads them to care more freely. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Care during pregnancy is a task of high importance for the health system. In Ecuador, special importance has been given to pregnant teenagers. However, there are various factors that influence pregnancy and in many cases it is not possible to prioritize their care. This research aims to develop a model to prioritize the factors that influence teenage pregnancy. The model operates using the neutrosophic DEMATEL method for the study of cause and effect in complex situations. The method implements as a principle the modeling of neutrality using neutrosophic numbers and allows evaluation through the use of linguistic terms, which is a natural form of evaluation for humans. With this work it is intended to supplement the general norms imposed by the Cuban sanitary authorities as for the cardiopulmonary resuscitation, where it is necessary to make stress, from the individual point of view, to achieve a correct performance in front of COVID-19. The cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a practice that generates particles in aerosol coming from the air ways, which increases the infection risk by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. For the present work, the international recommendations were consulted on the topic about compressions, ventilation, electric and even pharmacological therapy in patients with cardiac arrest and diagnosis of COVID-19, in order to achieve not only the patient's well-being, but also the security of the health staff. People have been interested in social cohesion and its implications in different areas of social life from the classic sociology authors until today. Besides its multidimensional nature, this complex construct also faces the issue of measurement. For this reason, the objective of this article is to adapt and validate a scale that measures in a multidimensional way social cohesion for urban areas. The results obtained through Cronbach's α coefficient, McDonald's Ω coefficient, and confidence intervals for both coefficients show that the resulting questions have high levels of discrimination and an acceptable reliability, so the scale developed is valid methodologically. Introduction: The shaking is frequent. Besides increasing the pain, it increases the metabolic demand and the oxygen consumption; several drugs are used to eliminate it. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of ketamine and magnesium sulfate in patients with shaking after subarachnoid anesthesia. Methods: A quasi-experimental investigation of 394 patients who received spinal anesthesia in an elective way, assisted at Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso Teaching General Hospital was carried out in Santiago de Cuba, from September, 2016 to the same period in 2018. They were divided in 2 random groups with 197 members each one: A (ketamine 0.4 mg/kg) and B (magnesium sulfate 50 mg/kg), to whom the medications were given once shaking began. Results: In both groups the 45-64 years patients prevailed. There was homogeneity between men and women, without statistical significance (p = 0.5378). Most of those affected were in the group of anesthetic risk II (88.1%). In the 2 groups the degree III of shaking before therapy prevailed, just 3.5% in group B maintained the same condition at 30 minutes. In the first 10 minutes of giving the magnesium sulfate shaking disappeared in most of the patients (74.5%). This drug was effective in 83.8% of those affected and in those that received ketamine it was of 42.1%, both without side effects. Conclusions: The incidence of shaking was high. The ketamine and magnesium sulfate were effective when allowing the disappearance of shaking in a short period of time, but the second drug overcame the first one in a considerable magnitude. The purpose of this study was to investigate the neuromuscular and perceptual fatigue responses of elite rugby players during the inaugural Under-18 (U18) Six Nations Festival. One hundred and thirty-three male players from five national squads (73 forwards, 60 backs) were examined during the competition. Each national squad was involved in three matches separated by 96 h each. Over the competition, players completed a daily questionnaire to monitor perceived well-being (WB) and performed daily countermovement jumps (CMJ) to assess neuromuscular function (NMF). Reductions in WB were substantial 24 h after the first and second match in forwards (d=0.77±0.21, p<0.0001; d=0.84±0.22, p< 0.001) and backs (d=0.89±0.22, p <0.0001; d=0.58±0.23, p<0.0001) but reached complete recovery in time for the subsequent match. Reductions in CMJ height were substantial 24 h after the first and second match for forwards (d=0.31±0.15, p=0.001; d=0.25±0.17, p=0.0205) and backs (d=0.40±0.17, p=0.0001; d=0.28±0.17, p=0.0062) and recovered at 48 h after match-play. Average WB and CMJ height attained complete recovery within matchday cycles in the investigated international competition. The findings of this study can be useful for practitioners and governing bodies involved with fixture scheduling and training prescription during competitive periods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aims: The goal of this study was to evaluate the development of telemedicine in Colombia. Materials and Methods: Searched for laws in the Colombian legal system; the statistics of services and health operators was extracted from the unique system of habilitation; we looked for reports from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), the demographic statistics was obtained from the National Administrative Department of Statistics. Data analysis techniques were applied to identify possible relationships between them. Results: In Colombia, since the proclamation of the legality of telemedicine in 2007, there are five laws, five resolutions, and three government plans. A total of 3,245 services have been implemented in telemedicine, distributed throughout the territory by 51,490 operators, the ICT penetration rate is 21.17% by fixed internet and 39.3% by mobile internet; the Colombian population is 49,882,091 people, 25,228,444 women and 24,605,796 men, who are distributed 76.97% in the urban sector and 23.02% in the rural sector, and the coverage of health services is 94.8%. Conclusion: The development of health services in the telemedicine modality has been driven by Colombian regulations since 2007 and the plans for the growth of ICT infrastructure since 2009; however, these services have not yet reached 100% of the territory, especially areas with difficult access. The Colombian peace agreement creates the National Rural Health Plan (PNSR), which is presented as the obligation to carry out health coverage in all the territories, especially those in the rural areas, for the implementation of the strategy related to the implementation of services in telemedicine. - Abstract
This study evaluated the effects of the application of a photosynthetic and N-fixing microbial consortium (biofertilizer) on some chemical properties of a vertisol soil and on the growth and yield of Triticum aestivum L. var. Barcenas S2002. The experimental design consisted on the chemical nitrogen fertilization (labeled as Q) based on 120 kg N ha−1 by using (NH4)2SO4 as the N source, and its combination with the application of the microbial consortium (labeled as B), resulting in the following five treatments: Q (control), B, QB1 (75%Q + 25%B), QB2 (50%Q + 50%B), and QB3 (25%Q + 75%B). The QB1 and Q treatments favored the accumulation of NO3− in soil. Regarding the effects on plants, the application of B resulted in significantly enhanced 1000-grain weight and grain yield as compared to the application of Q; the grain nitrogen content was similar between Q, QB1, QB2, and QB3 treatments. In addition, the QB2 and QB3 treatments allowed high values of grain yield (50–83 g m−2) and grain nitrogen content (3.1–3.5%) without showing significant differences when compared to Q treatment (100% of nitrogen chemical fertilization). These results allow a reduction of 75% of chemical fertilization for wheat production, due to complementary effects of the photosynthetic microbial consortium, which had beneficial effects on plant growth and yield as well as on soil parameters. Objective. Evaluate association of dietary patterns with metabolic syndrome (MetS) and metabolic markers. Materials and methods. 654 adolescents from Guadalajara, Jalisco, participated in a cross-sectional study. Diet was evaluated using a food frequency questionnaire; 24 food groups were integrated, and dietary patterns were derived using cluster analysis. MetS was defined according to International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Cook and colleagues, Ford and colleagues, and de Ferranti and colleagues criteria. Results. Dietary patterns identified were: "DP1", "DP2", and "DP3". Among males, "DP3" was associated with MetS (Cook and collaborators) (OR, 12.14; 95%CI, 1.66-89.05), hypertriglyceridemia (OR, 3.89; 95%CI, 1.01-15.07), and insulin resistance (OR, 6.66; 95%CI, 1.12-39.70). "DP2" was associated with abdominal obesity (OR, 5.11; 95%CI, 1.57-16.66). Conclusions. "DP3" entertained a greater risk of MetS, hypertriglyceridemia, and insulin resistance, while "DP2" possessed a greater risk of abdominal obesity among adolescent males. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Section III of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders–Fifth edition (DSM-5) has generated a personality paradigm consisting of 25 personality facets identified in five domains. The developed assessment instrument Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) has showed good psychometric properties, but the potential for certain improvements still remain. In this article, a sample of 282 dual diagnosis patients is used to provide evidence of the psychometric properties of the PID-5–Short Form. The mean value of Cronbach's alpha coefficients reached.73 on the facets and.84 for domains and test–retest values ranged between.57 to.83 for facets and.70 to.87 for the domains. Confirmatory factor analyses conducted showed good fit on both models tested: the five correlated factor structure and hierarchical structure of personality traits. The WHODAS 2.0 domains of understanding and communicating, and participating in society, appear to show the strongest relationship with personality facets. In general, the PID-5–Short Form shows adequate psychometric properties for use in dual diagnosis patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The objective of the research was to estimate the carbon stock in plantations and agroforestry systems of neotropic Juglans neotropica in the northern Ecuadorian highlands, as a contribution to climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies. Carbon was estimated from two 20-year-old plantations of Juglans neotropica, one pure and one in association with Coffea arabica. The biomass of trees and detritus is determined by the relationship between fresh and dry matter. With a factor of 0.5 the biomass is transformed into carbon and allometric formulas were made to determine the total carbon of the plantation. Detritus carbon was determined in the laboratory and extrapolated to the surface unit. The carbon stock by the pure plantation was 13.17 Mg ha-1, while in association it was 16.11 Mg ha-1. Differences in the carbon content of all components were observed, with the bole being the component that stock the most carbon. Detritus were the component that had the greatest differences between the systems. It is concluded that the plantation in association stock greater amount of carbon, which shows that the inclusion of coffee favors the growth and production of biomass of J. neotropica. The bole was the component of greater storage, fact that contributed to the linear relationship with the DAP2Ht regressor, obtaining equations with more than a 90% adjustment that allows estimating the carbon stored in silvicultural and edaphoclimatic conditions similar to those of the study. The Interleukin (IL)-1 family of cytokines plays a key role in the inflammatory response. Genes coding for IL-1α, IL-1β, and IL-1Ra are located together as a block gene known as the IL-1 cluster. This genomic region shows wide nucleotide variability, and some polymorphisms have been widely studied and associated with features related to the metabolic syndrome. Eight polymorphisms within three genes of the IL-1 cluster, including IL1A (rs3783553, rs17561, and rs1800587), IL1B (rs1143634, rs1143627, and rs16944) and IL1RN (rs419598 and rs2234663) were genotyped in 460 Mexican adolescents. Genotype and haplotype frequencies are reported, as well as the linkage disequilibrium analysis. Genetic associations with some anthropometric and metabolic traits were evaluated. Allele frequencies were similar to those found in other populations, and genotype proportions were according to the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Seven haplotypes were observed at frequencies ≥5%. Of the entire cluster, only the rs17561-rs1800587 and rs1143627-rs16944 pairs showed highest and significant linkage disequilibrium values. An haplotype of IL1A, rs17561T–rs1800587T, was significantly associated with increase in body mass index in males (p <0.008), whereas IL1B and IL1RN variants showed associations with insulin, and hs-CRP (p <0.05). Some MetS parameters seem to be influenced by variations in the IL-1 gene cluster in Mexican adolescents. These variations may confer risk for metabolic alterations from early ages, and and these risks may be different when variables such as sex are considered. Strategies leading to generate protective behaviors could be designed to take into account specific variations in the IL-1 gene cluster and biological conditions such as sex. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Graphical abstract Highlights • A C. vulgaris semicontinuous culture in M medium, 2 m3 RW in greenhouse was proven. • Areal biomass productivity up to 26 g m−2 d−1 was reached on the third day. • Saturated fatty acids proportion (C14–C18) was increased. • 25–50 mg L−1 of NH 4 + in the medium decreased contamination risks by protozoa. Abstract A Chlorella vulgaris UTEX 26 semicontinuous culture was implemented in 2000 L raceways with M medium during spring season at greenhouse conditions. Areal biomass productivities between 20 and 26 g m−2 d−1 were reached on the third day. The maximal areal lipid productivity obtained was 6.1 g m−2 d−1 and an increment in the saturated fatty acids (SFA) proportion (C14–C18) was favored in comparison with the fatty acids obtained with M medium in photobioreactors of 1 L and photoperiod light:darkness 12:12 h. After the eighth day of the culture or biomass concentrations above 0.25 g L−1, the microalgal cultures were prone to contamination by ciliates and amoebae, due to the sugars excreted by C. vulgaris UTEX 26. The periodical addition of NH 4 HCO 3 to the microalgal culture maintained the ammonium concentration between 25 and 50 mg L−1, which contributed to diminish the contamination risks by protozoa. - Abstract
Land use change and the burning of fossil fuels increase the concentrations of carbon dioxide in the environment. This gas is considered to have the greatest impact on global warming because of its concentration levels in the atmosphere. In order to determine the amount of carbon sequestered by the Eucalyptus grandis plantation located in the experimental farm "La Favorita", the biomass was quantified by means of the relation between fresh weight and percentage of dry matter of the shaft, bark, branches and leaves of a sample of 32 trees. The sequestered carbon was obtained by multiplying the biomass by the conversion factor of 0.5. The research was carried out with a sample of 0.8 ha in a 48-year plantation on the Ecuadorian coast. The average aerial carbon sequestered was 0.75 t / tree and 312.10 t / ha. The 81.20 % of carbon sequestered in the aerial biomass of the plantation is found in the shaft, 7.57 % in bark, 8.87 % in branches and 2.36 % in leaves. The alometric equation derived from the combination of the variables diameter at 1.30 m and total height (Di2ht), showed 98 % adjustment for the prediction of carbon of the plantation. These results show the high potential of the of Eucalyptus grandis plantations as carbon sinks and as an alternative for mitigation and adaptation to climate change. The values of sequestered carbon are higher than other plantations of the same species. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
