The article looks at the Arab-Israeli conflict, with a particular focus on issues surrounding Palestinian statehood. It is suggested that although efforts toward a two-state solution to the conflict have failed repeatedly, the demands of young Palestinians for civil liberties inside a binational state may push Israeli leaders to accept the creation of a separate Palestinian state. Details on Palestinian efforts to join international organizations and on Palestinian leaders Mahmoud Abbas and Muhammad Dahlan are presented. Topics include the Palestinian Authority (PA), the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), and Israeli land concessions.
