Background: Health care staff should be given the opportunity to participate in research, but recruiting clinicians via their employing organisation is not always straightforward or quick in the UK. Unlike many countries outside the UK, very low-risk survey, interview or focus group studies can be subject to some of the same governance approval procedures as interventional studies. An exemplar study carried out by the NIHR funded Palliative Care Research Partnership North West Coast is used to highlight the challenges still faced by researchers and health care organisations when setting up a low-risk staff study across multiple NHS and non-NHS sites. Methods: A study database was created and information was collected on the first point of contact with the clinical site, Health Research Authority (HRA) and local organisational approval times, time from trust or hospice agreement to the first survey participant recruited and overall site survey recruitment numbers. Descriptive statistics (median, range) were used to analyse these data. Results: Across participating NHS trusts, it took a median of 147.5 days (range 99–195) from initial contact with the local collaborator to recruitment of the first survey participant and hospice sites mirrored these lengthy timescales (median 142 days, range 110–202). The lengthiest delays in the HRA approval process were the period between asking NHS trusts to assess whether they had capacity and capability to support the research and them granting local agreement. Local approval times varied between trusts and settings which may indicate organisations are applying national complex guidance differently. Conclusions: There is the potential for HRA processes to use more NHS resources than the research study itself when recruiting to a low-risk staff study across multiple organisations. There is a need to reduce unnecessary administrative burden and bureaucracy to give clinicians and research staff more opportunities to participate in research, and to free up NHS R&D departments, research nurses and clinicians to focus on more demanding and patient focused research studies. Hospices need standardised guidance on how to assess the risk of being involved in low-risk research without adopting the unnecessarily complex systems that are currently used within the NHS. Background: Participant non-response is a source of bias in all research, especially in randomised controlled trials. Participants followed up remotely can have high non-response rates. Four such trials have been conducted of a cover letter with content informed by behaviour change theory to overcome hypothesised barriers to responding to a mailed questionnaire. Pooled results to date have suggested further research to be worthwhile. We conducted an embedded randomised study within a trial of such cover letters in the hope that we would improve response rates to our postal quality of life questionnaires. Methods: One hundred forty-eight participants in the CODIFI2 diabetic foot ulcer sampling trial were randomised 1:1 to receive one of two different cover letters at follow-up timepoints: either a standard cover letter accompanying their postal follow-up questionnaires or to an 'enhanced' (theory-informed) cover letter. Questionnaires were mailed at 39, 52 and (for some participants) 104 weeks post randomisation. Outcome measures were response to mailing at each timepoint. Analysis was restricted to those for whom a questionnaire and letter was issued. Owing to limited recruitment, a reduced analysis plan, comprising solely observed response rates and 95% confidence intervals for difference in response rates was followed. Post hoc, we added our week 52 results to an already-published meta-analysis. Results: Sixty-seven out of 74 enhanced cover letter group (Enhanced) and 67/74 standard cover letter group (Standard) participants who had not already died or withdrawn were sent their first mailing at 39 weeks. The 39-week response rates were 47/67 (70.1%) and 39/67 (58.2%) for Enhanced and Standard participants, respectively. At week 52, the response rates were 45/64 (70.3%) and 35/63 (55.6%) for Enhanced and Standard participants, respectively. At week 104, the response rates were 24/33 (72.7%) and 19/33 (57.6%) for the Enhanced and Standard participants, respectively. Adding our week 52 results to a published meta-analysis increased the pooled estimate of differences in response rates to 0.04 (− 0.01 to 0.09) favouring enhanced letters. Conclusion: While this embedded randomised controlled trial observed greater response rates at all times among those randomised to the enhanced letter, the reduced sample size meant that these results are imprecise. Background: Preoperative emotional distress has been linked to adverse health outcomes, diminished quality of life, increased symptom burden after surgery, and poorer postoperative outcomes. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the impact of perioperative emotional distress on the long-term outcomes of patients undergoing colorectal surgery. Methods: We conducted a follow-up study of a previously conducted observational study of colorectal surgery patients who underwent surgery at the University Medical Centre Freiburg, Germany, between April 2018 and February 2020. Initially, all the patients completed a multidimensional mood questionnaire (MDMQ) preoperatively and on postoperative days 3, 6, and 9. From June to November 2021, these patients were contacted again to capture the results of MDMQ at least one year after surgery and to assess the rate of late complications, quality of life, dietary changes, and overall health. Results: Of the original 80 patients, 51 took part in the follow-up study (55% female, on average 59 years old), on average 30 months after the operation. The average mood results of the surgical patients returned to those of the normal population. Most patients (80%) did not feel that their quality of life was affected by the surgery. Satisfaction with the surgical outcome averaged 8.5 out of 10, while current health was rated at 6.8 out of 10. Emotional distress levels varied over time, with mood and arousal improving significantly postoperatively. Late complications were reported by 28% of the patients, but there were no significant differences in the MDMQ scores, health status, or satisfaction between those with and without complications. AbstractAimMethodsResultsConclusionThis study aimed to develop the Participation Questionnaire for Preschoolers (PQP) and validate its psychometric properties as a disability-specific tool designed to assess participation in preschool-aged children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).This cross-sectional study recruited caregivers of 412 children, including those diagnosed with ASD and those at risk for neurodevelopmental disorders. Participants were recruited from child development facilities, medical institutions, and developmental support websites across Japan. Data from 287 children diagnosed with ASD were analyzed for item reduction, followed by exploratory factor analysis and the calculation of Cronbach’s alpha to evaluate internal consistency. Five hypotheses were tested to assess construct validity.Item reduction resulted in the removal of seven items and the identification of four factors: Friendship and Education, Family Satisfaction, Daily Living and Independence, and Leisure and Community Life. Cronbach’s alpha values for these factors ranged from 0.74 to 0.88, indicating acceptable internal consistency. Three of the five hypotheses related to construct validity were supported, aligning with expectations.The PQP exhibited structural validity, internal consistency, and construct validity. Aims: To test the Triangle of Human Ecology by examining associations between unipolar depression and different measures of human biological factors, health behaviour, and the physical environment. Methods: Data originate from the third wave of the Nord-Trøndelag Health Study (2006–2008). The survey was based on a random sample of 50,000 Norwegians (response rate: 54%). Logistic regression was performed, using unipolar depression, measured with the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale score, as outcome variable and 38 explanatory variables. Results: Biological factors including older age and male gender were associated with higher odds of depression, as were behavioural factors including drinking behaviour and having a neurotic personality. Reduced odds were associated with units of alcohol consumed, extrovert personality and physical activity. Social networks were an environmental factor with reduced odds at both personal and neighbourhood levels, as was warmer outdoor temperatures. ABSTRACT Introduction Methods Results Conclusions Judicious antimicrobial use is essential for the continued treatment of infections in small and mixed animal veterinary medicine. To better support Washington (WA) State veterinarians in antimicrobial stewardship, we surveyed licensed small and mixed animal veterinarians and led group conversations regarding antimicrobial prescription practices.Survey questions included demographic information, factors influencing prescription practices and clinical cases. Responses were summarised and logistic regressions were performed to identify factors associated with antibiotic treatment choices. Group conversations, led by a licensed veterinarian, focused on resource gaps for veterinarians, management of clinical scenarios and interpretation of minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) and breakpoints. A systematic qualitative analysis of conversation transcripts identified key themes such as common barriers to stewardship.Among 53 responses to clinical scenarios, veterinarians selected the most appropriate treatment choice, according to a veterinary microbiologist, 62% of the time. Variability was observed in culture and susceptibility practices and antibiotic choices. Survey respondents reported an influence of the client ability to medicate (92%), considerations of resistance (91%), client finances (75%) and availability of antimicrobials (75%) on their prescription decisions. There were no significant associations between opinions about contributing factors to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) or guidelines used and treatment choices in clinical scenarios. Among 15 veterinarians interviewed in group conversations, a systematic qualitative analysis of conversation transcripts revealed key themes, including reliance on human medicine as a resource and a lack of support for veterinarians in interpreting MICs and breakpoints.The variability in veterinary antibiotic treatment decisions in this study suggests a need for further dissemination of standardised antimicrobial stewardship resources for veterinarians. Introduction Aim Methods Results Conclusions The Child Hemophilia Treatment Experience Measure (Child Hemo‐TEM) was developed to capture the treatment burden experience of children with haemophilia (CwH).Describe the development of this novel haemophilia‐specific measure.Interviews were conducted with clinical experts, CwH and CwH's caregivers. Interviews were analysed according to adapted grounded theory principles. Based on the analysis, a preliminary measure was developed and debriefed. Psychometric analyses were performed according to an a priori analysis plan using data collected in a cross‐sectional web survey and a final measure was generated.Interviews with four clinical experts, 25 CwH ages 8 to <12 years, and 25 caregivers of CwH <12 years were conducted. Concepts endorsed by ≥10% of CwH and caregivers were: adherence, ease of use, emotional impacts, physical impacts, treatment concerns, and interference with daily life. Cognitive debriefing assessments were conducted to ensure participant understanding and item relevance. Caregivers found the measure to be understandable, comprehensive, and relevant. However, several issues with CwH completing the measure were identified and it was decided to only develop an observer‐reported outcome version. Data for psychometric validation was collected in a web survey (N = 187). Item reduction dropped 12 items. Factor analysis generated a single, 7‐item, internally consistent (α = .855) factor, which consisted of items covering all relevant a priori concepts. The majority of a priori convergent and all known groups validity hypotheses were confirmed.The study findings provide evidence that the Child Hemo‐TEM is a brief, well‐designed, and valid and reliable measure of haemophilia treatment burden. In order to assess the perceptions and expectations of the radiology staff about artificial intelligence (AI), we conducted an online survey among ESR members (January–March 2024). It was designed considering that conducted in 2018, updated according to recent advancements and emerging topics, consisting of seven questions regarding demographics and professional background and 28 AI questions. Of 28,000 members contacted, 572 (2%) completed the survey. AI impact was predominantly expected on breast and oncologic imaging, primarily involving CT, mammography, and MRI, and in the detection of abnormalities in asymptomatic subjects. About half of responders did not foresee an impact of AI on job opportunities. For 273/572 respondents (48%), AI-only reports would not be accepted by patients; and 242/572 respondents (42%) think that the use of AI systems will not change the relationship between the radiological team and the patient. According to 255/572 respondents (45%), radiologists will take responsibility for any AI output that may influence clinical decision-making. Of 572 respondents, 274 (48%) are currently using AI, 153 (27%) are not, and 145 (25%) are planning to do so. In conclusion, ESR members declare familiarity with AI technologies, as well as recognition of their potential benefits and challenges. Compared to the 2018 survey, the perception of AI's impact on job opportunities is in general slightly less optimistic (more positive from AI users/researchers), while the radiologist's responsibility for AI outputs is confirmed. The use of large language models is declared not only limited to research, highlighting the need for education in AI and its regulations. Background/Aims NOVAponin, a functional health food derived from Dolichos lablab Linne extract improves gastric mucosal injury and increases regeneration and proliferation. This study aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of NOVAponin in individuals with mild functional dyspepsia (FD). Methods In this single-center, double-blind, randomized clinical trial, 131 patients with FD meeting the Rome IV criteria were enrolled. Changes in the gastrointestinal symptom rating scale (GSRS), FD-related quality of life (FD-QoL), gastrointestinal symptom (GIS) scores, inflammatory and anti-inflammatory markers, and adverse effects before and after administration were compared. Results After 12 weeks of administration, GSRS upper abdominal symptom scores were significantly improved in the test group compared to the control group (–5.30 ± 0.60 vs –2.35 ± 0.56, P < 0.001). GSRS upper abdominal symptom scores (–5.13 ± 0.55 vs –1.92 ± 0.44, P < 0.001), GSRS total scores (–7.02 ± 0.91 vs –3.33 ± 0.73, P < 0.001), GIS total scores (–11.21 ± 0.53 vs –6.65 ± 0.70, P < 0.001) after 6 weeks of administration, GSRS total scores (–7.54 ± 0.94 v. –3.31 ± 0.85, P < 0.001), GIS total scores (–11.90 ± 0.52 vs –7.61 ± 0.73, P < 0.001), and FD-QoL total scores (–11.41 ± 1.75 vs –5.55 ± 1.20, P = 0.007) after 12 weeks of administration also showed significant differences between groups. The differences were slightly more pronounced in epigastric pain syndrome subtypes and in females than the others, although more females were assigned to the test group. There were no significant changes in inflammatory and anti-inflammatory markers or adverse reactions. Background/Aim. Despite the demanding nature of their roles in community pharmacies and their critical importance to patient safety, healthcare professionals, including pharmacists, are often not covered by the Resilience Scale. Therefore, the aim of the study was to develop and validate a resilience scale specifically tailored for pharmacists working in community pharmacies. Methods. The study involved the development and validation of a scale aimed at assessing psychological resilience among community pharmacists. The domains and items of the scale were considered from the aspect of reviewing the available literature. Content validation by subject matter experts and subsequent computation of the content validity index ensured the scale's content validity. Face validity assessment ensured alignment with the intended construct. The final scale was distributed to a sample of 504 community pharmacists, after which the scale was analyzed using statistical methods such as factor analysis, multiple regression, and reliability analysis. Additionally, test-retest reliability analysis was performed on 80 community pharmacists. Results. During the brainstorming sessions and focus groups, 95 items were generated within five domains -- Confidence, Agility, Coping with stress, Interpersonal relations, and Developmental thinking. Following expert review and rigorous content and face validity analyses, 30 items with Content Validity Index and Face Validity Index values surpassing 0.80 were retained. The scale exhibited strong internal consistency, with Cronbach's alpha exceeding 0.9. Factor analysis confirmed the five-factor structure, with each component displaying high factor loadings and significant variable loadings on only one component. Conclusion. The Resilience Scale emerged as a promising tool for assessing community pharmacists' resilience, demonstrating robust psychometric properties. The study contributed validity evidence concerning content and internal structure, thereby enhancing the scale's credibility in evaluating resilience domains within the pharmacy profession. Background: Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) have gained increased importance in assessing outcomes after reconstructive surgery. This also applies to the reconstruction of vulvoperineal defects after resection of gynecological or colorectal cancers in women. The objective of this study is to analyze the current state of PROM tool use within this patient population. Methods: By systematic literature searches in Embase, Medline, and Web of Science, English-language studies published after 1980, including randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, and case series reporting on vulvoperineal defect reconstruction, which were included if they also analyzed quality of life (QoL) and/or PROMs. The PROM tools used by each study were extracted, analyzed, and compared. Results: The primary search yielded 2576 abstracts, of which 395 articles were retrieved in full text. Of these, 50 reported on vulvoperineal defect reconstruction, among which 27 studies analyzing QoL were found. Of those, 17 met the inclusion criteria for this systematic review. After full-text screening, 14 different PROM tools and 5 individual, non-standardized questionnaires were identified. Only 22% of studies used a validated PROM tool. Conclusion: Far too few studies currently use PROM tools to assess outcomes in oncological vulvoperineal defect reconstruction. Less than half of the used PROMs are validated. No PROM was designed to specifically measure QoL in this patient population. The standardized implementation of a validated PROM tool in the clinical treatment of this patient population is an essential step to improve outcomes, enable the comparison of research, and support evidence-based treatment approaches. COVID‐19 infection among pregnant women results in more severe symptoms and higher mortality rates. No comprehensive health literacy for protection against COVID‐19 among pregnant women has been available for general use in Thailand. This cross‐sectional study aimed to develop and examine an instrument for measuring health literacy of prevention COVID‐19 infection among pregnant women (HLS‐P). A total of 321 pregnant women aged older than 20 years were participated in this study, Selected through multistage cluster sampling, between September 2021 and January 2022. Data were collected using structured questions that included sociodemographic characteristics and the health literacy scale for protecting against COVID‐19 (HLS‐P) developed by the researchers. The content and construct validity of the health literacy scale were examined. Exploratory factor analysis performed with principal component analysis and Varimax rotation. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS AMOS 26. The model fitting was evaluated using several indices namely root mean square error of approximation, normed fit index, comparative fit index, and goodness‐of‐fit index. The reliability of the scale was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha and item total correlation. As a results of exploratory factor analysis of the scale, 31 items were loaded which indicated a 6‐factors for the scale that collectively explained 62.59% of total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis also indicated a good fit to the six latent structures with root mean square error of approximation 0.03, normed fit index 0.94, comparative fit index 0.97, and goodness‐of‐fit index 0.91. Internal consistency reliability was satisfactory with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.94 and the item‐total correlation between 0.34 and 0.86. The overall scale was sufficiently reliable. As a result, the HLS‐P is a reliable and relevant measure for assessing health literacy in pregnant women. Thus, this scale is profoundly used as an evaluation tool for measuring health literacy among pregnant women, providing critical information for healthcare professionals and policymakers about the health literacy needs and capacity of service receivers. Objective: This study examined patient and healthcare provider (HCP) perspectives on the impact of unmet social needs on healthcare barriers for patients with vasculitis. Methods: Two surveys were developed to gather perspectives from patients with vasculitis, and HCPs specializing in vasculitis care. The patient survey also included a 20-question social needs assessment. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: One hundred patients and 31 HCPs completed the surveys between September 2022 and June 2023. Fifty-six percent of patients reported unmet social needs, with poor social and mental health (30%) being the most common. Sixty-three percent of patients with vasculitis perceived unmet social need(s) as barriers to healthcare access. Financial insecurity (30%), poor mental health (29%), and poor health knowledge (25%) were the most common barriers identified. Overall, HCPs perceived SDOH have a greater impact on healthcare access than the patients surveyed. Most patients (82%) and HCPs (90%) believed rheumatologists should help in the management of SDOH, specifically health knowledge and mental health. Few HCPs (10%) felt well-positioned to address patients' mental health. Suggested interventions that address social needs and improve healthcare access included referrals to community-based resources, providing educational materials, and virtual visits. Conclusion: Through patient and HCP perspectives, the impact of SDOH on healthcare access for patients with vasculitis was explored. Understanding the positive experiences and challenges faced by patients is crucial for developing targeted interventions to enhance healthcare access. These findings underscore the importance of ongoing efforts to improve the healthcare experience for patients with vasculitis. Background & Objective: Mentorship is essential for medical undergraduates' professional and personal development to enhance soft skills, knowledge, and academic performance. The present study analyzed the mentee's feedback about the program. Material & Methods: The present cross-sectional (retrospective) study, approved by the ethics committee, was conducted between January and March 2022. One hundred fifty feedback forms (open and closed-ended questions) of 2016-2019 MBBS students (at the end of one and a half years of implementation) were analyzed. Data were represented as mean ± SD and median. Qualitative data was coded and analyzed descriptively. Results: 58% and 50.66% of mentees agreed on easy approachability and communication with mentors. 52.67 % agreed strongly, and 52% agreed that mentors listened actively to their problems and provided constructive feedback. 68.67% agreed and 56.67% agreed strongly that important lessons about personal, college, and career life were learned. 78.66% agreed that research motivation was provided. 71, 33%, and 60% agreed that mentoring helped improve academics and develop a conceptual learning style. 70% and 51.33% agreed that mentors helped them solve medical life problems and develop skills (communication, interpersonal, and humane values). 46.66% agreed that mentors encouraged them to participate in sports or extracurricular activities. 52% agreed strongly that their mentors had a professional attitude, 47.33% agreed mentors were beneficial to them, and 46.67% agreed strongly to recommend their mentors for future professional and personal development activities. Open-ended analysis showed that, in decreasing order, the most beneficial developmental activities performed with their mentors were problem-solving (40.56%), guidance, counseling (34.26%), and soft skill development (13.85%). Menttes considered time constraints a hurdle and suggested scheduled, regular meetings and the use of social media for the program's effectiveness. Purpose: Non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) represents the persistent absence of sperm in ejaculate without obstruction, stemming from diverse disease processes. This survey explores global practices in NOA diagnosis, comparing them with guidelines and offering expert recommendations. Materials and Methods: A 56-item questionnaire survey on NOA diagnosis and management was conducted globally from July to September 2022. This paper focuses on part 1, evaluating NOA diagnosis. Data from 367 participants across 49 countries were analyzed descriptively, with a Delphi process used for expert recommendations. Results: Of 336 eligible responses, most participants were experienced attending physicians (70.93%). To diagnose azoospermia definitively, 81.7% requested two semen samples. Commonly ordered hormone tests included serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) (97.0%), total testosterone (92.9%), and luteinizing hormone (86.9%). Genetic testing was requested by 66.6%, with karyotype analysis (86.2%) and Y chromosome microdeletions (88.3%) prevalent. Diagnostic testicular biopsy, distinguishing obstructive azoospermia (OA) from NOA, was not performed by 45.1%, while 34.6% did it selectively. Differentiation relied on physical examination (76.1%), serum hormone profiles (69.6%), and semen tests (68.1%). Expectations of finding sperm surgically were higher in men with normal FSH, larger testes, and a history of sperm in ejaculate. Conclusions: This expert survey, encompassing 367 participants from 49 countries, unveils congruence with recommended guidelines in NOA diagnosis. However, noteworthy disparities in practices suggest a need for evidence-based, international consensus guidelines to standardize NOA evaluation, addressing existing gaps in professional recommendations. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects women of childbearing age and has been reported to cause sexual dysfunction in women. Although there are articles on sexual function in women with SLE, the number of articles is small, and the factors affecting sexual function in women with SLE are controversial. Based on this, this study aimed to investigate the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in Chinese female SLE patients and to explore the factors that influence it. The study design was a cross-sectional study conducted from December 2023 to April 2024 in the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology of a tertiary hospital in Hefei, Anhui Province. A total of 293 female patients diagnosed with SLE were enrolled using face-to-face questionnaires and online questionnaires. The questionnaire consisted of four parts: general information questionnaire, fatigue severity scale (FSS), depression-anxiety-stress scale (DASS-21), and female sexual functioning index (FSFI) scale. A total of 173 (59.04%) patients had sexual dysfunction, including 251 (85.67%) with decreased libido and 186 (63.46%) with difficulty in sexual arousal. There was a correlation between the patients' total FSFI scores and age (p = 0.028), marital satisfaction (p < 0.001), own education level (p = 0.008), partner's education level (p = 0.003), place of residence (p = 0.039), monthly household income (p < 0.001), family financial satisfaction(p < 0.001), menstrual status (p = 0.003), hormone use (p = 0.021),immunosuppressant use (p = 0.042), disease activity (p = 0.016), FSS score (p < 0.001), stress score (p < 0.001), anxiety score (p < 0.001) and depression score (p < 0.001)were correlated. The results of stepwise regression analysis showed that marital satisfaction (b = 2.011, t = 3.797, p < 0.001), monthly household income (b = 0.854, t = 2.316, p = 0.021), menstrual status (b = 1.218, t = 2.350, p = 0.019), fatigue scale score (b = − 0.069, t = − 2.302, p = 0.022), and depression score (b = − 0.117, t = − 2.910, p = 0.004) were the influencing factors of FSFI total score, and the difference was statistically significant. The incidence of sexual dysfunction in Chinese female SLE patients is high, and medical personnel should pay more attention to patients' sexual problems, to provide theoretical and practical bases for further prevention, treatment, and care of sexual dysfunction in female SLE patients. Introduction: Muscle biopsy plays an important role in the diagnostic evaluation of individuals with suspected idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM). However, variability in biopsy practices may result in a heterogenous patient experience. The existing literature offers limited insights into the experiences and perspectives of patients undergoing muscle biopsy. Methods: This study employed a 27-item online survey to comprehensively characterise the experience of muscle biopsy among Australian patients, including their concerns, beliefs about procedure utility, information sources, physical sensations, perceived complications and recovery. Results: A total of 111 Australian individuals who reported a diagnosis of IIM completed the survey, with data collected from March to June 2023. Most participants had inclusion body myositis (76/111, 68.5%) and had undergone one biopsy procedure (87/111, 78.4%) as part of their IIM work-up. Nine of the 111 respondents did not undergo a muscle biopsy. The procedure was well-tolerated by many respondents, however, a notable number of respondents experienced post-procedural pain lasting > 72 h (27/102, 26.5%), increasing weakness post-biopsy (13.7%), numbness at the biopsy site (18/102, 17.6%) and a recovery time beyond 3 days (36/102, 35.3%). A substantial minority (30/111, 27%) felt they were inadequately informed about the risks and benefits of the procedure. Conclusions: This survey highlights that although muscle biopsy is often well-tolerated, there are considerable patient concerns that are often inadequately addressed. Sexual dysfunction (SD) has been associated with worse quality of life and higher disease activity in patients with rheumatic diseases, yet it is still not regularly addressed during routine rheumatologic evaluations. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and evaluate their perception of their sexual health. We performed a retrospective study in an outpatient rheumatology clinic to evaluate patients over 18 years old with a diagnosis of RA or SLE through the Spanish version of the Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale (ASEX) and the Sexual Health Perception Survey (SHEPS), a questionnaire of 6 items designed in our clinic. Additionally, we applied the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy – Fatigue (FACIT-F version 4) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). A total of 567 patients were evaluated with SHEPS, most of whom were women with a median age of 50 years (IQR: 34) and a median disease duration of 5 years (IQR: 9). Through the ASEX, we found that 67% of the patients with RA and 60% of the patients with SLE experienced SD. Patients reported the level of sex drive, arousal, and the ability to achieve orgasms as the areas with the most difficulties. Most patients did not know their disease could affect their sexuality and had never addressed these issues with their rheumatologists, but almost all of them were willing to. This study analyzed the status of medical information acquisition through social media (SM) and its impact on healthcare utilization among patients with rheumatic diseases (RDs) who visited the rheumatology department of a tertiary hospital. We consecutively evaluated 102 patients with RDs in this single-center cross-sectional survey. Using a face-to-face survey, patients were asked about the sources they used to acquire medical information, factors influencing their visits to tertiary hospitals, and the potential impact of acquiring medical information on RDs through SM. SM refers to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Kakao Channel, Naver Band, and X. The mean age was 42.3 years and 39% were female. The most common disease was ankylosing spondylitis (45.1%), followed by rheumatoid arthritis (20.6%). The most frequent method for acquiring medical information regarding RDs, except for rheumatologists, was internet portal sites (47.8%), followed by SM (40.2%). The most important factor influencing the decision to visit a tertiary hospital was medical doctors (51%); only 1% of the patients responded that SM was the most crucial factor in determining their visit. Most patients (77.5%) responded that acquiring medical information through SM would help them manage their diseases. Our data revealed that a substantial proportion of patients with RDs obtained medical information through SM. However, the impact of SM on visiting a tertiary hospital was minimal, suggesting that SM has become a mainstream source of medical information, yet the reliability of SM remains relatively low. ABSTRACT Introduction Methods Results Conclusion Socioeconomic deprivation is a known risk factor for head and neck cancer (HNC). Despite this, there is no current way to acknowledge this in two‐week wait (2WW) referrals. 2WW HNC referrals have continually risen, and a self‐reporting questionnaire was trialled with referrals to the ear, nose and throat (ENT) department with suspected HNC, allowing additional triage information not included in referrals to be obtained.Patients referred through the 2WW pathway for HNC between February 2021 and March 2022 were asked to complete an electronic self‐reporting symptom questionnaire. The vetting process resulted in the referral being accepted or regraded to less urgent referral streams. Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) quintiles were derived using the online postcode checker tool.A total of 984 2WW referrals were retrospectively reviewed. The questionnaire was completed by 717 (72.9%) patients. Regrading of urgency resulted in 292 (29.7%) 2WW appointments not required. Of those regraded, 264 (90.4%) patients completed the questionnaire. A significantly greater number of patients (p = 0.03) from SIMD 4 and SIMD 5 were regraded (33.3%) compared to SIMD 1 and SIMD 2 (26.4%). Patients who did not complete the questionnaire had a higher median age (61.0 years, range: 17–96, IQR: 25.0) compared to those who completed the questionnaire (56.0 years, range: 17–88, IQR: 23.5, p < 0.001).A self‐reported symptom questionnaire can help rebalance urgent appointments to those with genuine red flag symptoms. No such scale has been adapted for the Hungarian population.To translate and culturally adapt the Activities-specific Balance Confidence Scale and test the reliability and validity of the Hungarian version.The study included 167 independently mobile subjects, of whom 39 filled in the questionnaire twice, 1 week apart. Beaton’s six-step principle was applied for cross-cultural adaptation. Reliability was assessed by internal consistency measured by Cronbach's alpha and through test–retest analysis. Types of validity evaluated were concurrent validity using the Berg Balance Scale and cross-cultural validity.Excellent internal consistency was shown by Cronbach’s alpha = 0.977. Test–retest analysis resulted in an Intra-Class Correlation Coefficient of 0.962 (0.865–0.961, 95% CI, p < .001) for the whole test; no floor or ceiling effects were found. The convergent validity of the scale was tested by Spearman’s rank correlation analysis using the Berg Balance scale for external validation and showed a strong positive correlation (Rho = 0.755, p < .001). Receiver Operating Characteristic curve analysis showed an Area Under the Curve of 0.821 (CI 95% 0.75, 0.892). This study aimed to assess medical students' knowledge and attitudes towards artificial intelligence (AI) models and their potential role in medical education and healthcare. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 398 students of Ondokuz Mayıs University Medical Faculty using an online questionnaire administered through Google Forms. Participants' awareness of AI applications, their usage patterns, and their opinions on AI's role in medical education were evaluated. The study found extensive awareness of AI applications among participants, with ChatGPT being the most recognized (%95). The majority of students believed that AI models could benefit medical education and assist in diagnosis and treatment when collaborating with doctors. However, concerns were raised regarding the potential for incorrect results, patient safety, and ethical issues. While students recognized the potential of AI-supported education to enhance learning motivation, they expressed concerns about its impact on creativity. Significant differences were found between classes regarding the acceptance of the proposition that artificial intelligence models will take over our profession in the future (p=0.001). Participants aware of AI applications exhibited a higher agreement rate with the proposition that AI-assisted education is more advantageous than traditional methods (p=0.022). Medical students recognize the potential benefits of AI models in clinical practice and medical education but also highlight concerns about ethical considerations and potential limitations. Aim: The purpose of this study was to examine the trend in human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates in Japan before and after a policy change in 2022, involving resumption of active recommendation and start of catch‐up vaccination. Methods: From 2021 to 2023, a web‐based questionnaire survey was administered to newly enrolled female college students in Yokohama, Japan. The questionnaire included items such as age, HPV vaccination status, HPV vaccine awareness, and awareness of catch‐up vaccination. We compared knowledge about the HPV vaccine and cervical cancer in 2021 and 2023, before and after resumption of the national vaccination program. Results: The HPV vaccination rates were 5.4% in 2021, 7.5% in 2022, and 35.3% in 2023, with a significant upward trend (p < 0.001). A similar upward trend was observed for HPV vaccine awareness (p < 0.001). Comparing 2022 and 2023 after the start of catch‐up vaccination, there was no significant difference in awareness of catch‐up vaccination (p = 0.669), but there was a significant increase in awareness of free vaccination tickets (p < 0.001). After resumption of the national vaccination program with adoption of the catch‐up vaccination program, there was no difference in knowledge of cervical cancer, but there was a difference in knowledge of the HPV vaccine. Conclusions: Although the HPV vaccination rate has increased after the policy change, it has not recovered to the level before the suspension of active recommendation. Background/Aim. Quality of life (QoL) is one of the outcome measures for patients with chronic diseases. Mental health issues often impact the QoL of cancer patients. Cancer patients with a good QoL have a longer life expectancy and are able to lead a more productive and social life. The aim of the study was to determine the association of mental health with the QoL, as well as to determine significant predictors of QoL in patients with breast cancer (BC). Methods. The study included 118 patients treated at the Specialized Breast Cancer Department of the Oncology Clinic of the University Clinical Center Niš, Serbia. The study's inclusion criteria were the presence of early-stage nonmetastatic BC and completed surgical treatment. The following questionnaires were used: the general sociodemographic questionnaire, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire, Early Maladaptive Schema questionnaire - short form (SQ-SF), Flanagan's Quality of Life Scale (QoLS), Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale, Berlin Social Support Scales (BSSS), Health Locus of Control. Results. A statistically significant negative correlation was found with emotional state, i.e., anxiety score, depressiveness score, total stress score, and physical aggression score, while QoL correlated positively with all subscales of the perceived social support (PSS) questionnaire. QoL was significantly different for patients with the following early maladaptive schemas: emotional deprivation, emotional inhibition, and a sense of entitlement/narcissism. Moreover, QoL differed significantly depending on partnership status, the presence of clinically significant anxiety, the presence of hormone-sensitive cancer, the presence of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive cancer, and time since diagnosis. Multiple linear regression was performed, and depression and PSS had the highest share. Conclusion. Background: Physiotherapists' attitudes and beliefs play a crucial role in the management and treatment outcomes of non‐specific neck pain (NSNP). Objective: To investigate the attitudes and beliefs of physiotherapists in Jordan towards NSNP, and to identify factors influencing these attitudes and beliefs. Methods: A Cross‐sectional survey of registered physiotherapists working in Jordan was conducted. A structured questionnaire was used to assess the attitudes and beliefs of physiotherapists towards NSNP. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used. Results: A total of 301 PTs completed the survey, 155 females (51.56%). Most respondents held bachelor's degrees, with an average of 9.5 ± 6.6 experience years. The total score for PABS‐PT (Z = 11.4, p < 0.001) and its BM (Z = +11.9, p < 0.001) and PS (Z = 3.6, p < 0. 001) subscales were significantly positive. The score of the biomedical subscale was more significantly positive than psychosocial subscale. The treatment orientation was positively correlated with education level, and negatively with age and experience. The most reported treatments were manual therapy followed by general exercises and electrical modalities. No significant relationship was observed between treatment orientation and treatment selection. Conclusion: This study created the initial profile for pain attitudes and beliefs in Jordan. Physiotherapists hold positive attitudes and beliefs towards the NSNP treatment orientations with a superiority of the BM approach. Introduction and Hypothesis: Condition-specific sexual questionnaires are important patient-reported outcome measures. The aim of this study was to translate and validate the Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire-International Urogynecology Association Revised (PISQ-IR) into Brazilian Portuguese and to clinically validate it in a Brazilian Portuguese-speaking population. Methods: Translation and validation of the PISQ-IR was performed according to the International Urogynecological Association-recommended process and guidelines. For external validity, PISQ-IR subscales were compared with the clinical measures, Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification system (POP-Q) stage, pelvic floor muscle tone, and Oxford Grading Scale (Pearson correlations). Descriptive statistics, internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha coefficient), and test–retest reliability (interclass correlation coefficient) were calculated for all PISQ-IR subscales. Results: A total of 120 sexually active and 106 not sexually active women were enrolled in the study between March 2015 and July 2019. Internal consistency was acceptable, with Cronbach's alpha values 0.60–0.80, except for the sexual arousal and orgasm, sexual arousal and partner-related issues, sexual arousal and condition-specific issues, global rating of sexual quality and condition impact subscales. PISQ-IR demonstrated good reliability (α > 0.6, CIC = 0.996). The agreement for each individual questionnaire item also individually presented substantial agreement between the assessments (κ 0.61–0.8). There was a correlation between PISQ-IR and POP, mixed, stress and fecal incontinence diagnosis and a positive correlation with pelvic floor muscle function according to the Oxford Scale in sexually active women. For sexually inactive women there was a correlation between PISQ-IR and mixed urinary symptoms. Conclusions: The Brazilian Portuguese version of PISQ-IR is a reliable and valid tool that can be easily used for the identification and assessment of sexual function in Brazilian Portuguese-speaking women with pelvic floor disorders. Priority-setting is a collective responsibility centred around inclusive engagement and alignment with the needs and desired outcomes of the community. In this study, we leveraged the collective expertise of stakeholders from the child and family service system, to identify priorities for supporting the health, education and wellbeing of children and families living in Logan, Queensland. A pragmatic approach combining a modified nominal group technique and consensus methodology was undertaken. Key system factors were identified and consolidated into 10 priority areas, which were ranked via an online questionnaire. The top three priority areas were identified by the service system as (i) early family and child support programs, (ii) support and resourcing of existing services, and (iii) recognition and support of a diverse community. These results present an opportunity to leverage the local knowledge and expertise of the service system to design solutions that address the greatest challenges for children and families in place. We aimed to evaluate the internal consistency of Stanford Social Dimensions Scale (SSDS) translated to Serbian and to test it against the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). The sample consisted of 200 patients (32% ASD) of the Institute of Mental Health in Belgrade, Serbia (68 females, 132 males, Mage=9.61, SDage=4.06). Internal consistency coefficients were within good/acceptable range for Social Motivation, Affiliation, Recognition and Unusual Approach subscales and below acceptable for Expressive Social Communication subscale. The non-autistic group scored higher on all subscales compared to the ASD group. All SSDS subscales positively correlated with SDQ Prosocial Behaviors scale. The SSDS is a valuable instrument for accessing sociobehavioral phenotype in both individuals on the autism spectrum and non-autistic individuals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: This study developed a short version of a scale measuring attitudes toward people living with dementia, the Four‐Item Attitudes toward People Living with Dementia Scale (APDS4), that could be included in a large population survey. Methods: We used three datasets from Japan: a web panel survey, a community‐based mail survey, and data from a randomised controlled trial on dementia education. The original scale used was the Attitudes toward People Living with Dementia Scale developed by Kim and Kuroda. Test–retest reliability and item response theory analyses were used to reduce the number of items. The reliability, internal consistency, validity, and responsiveness of the short version were evaluated. Results: Six items with low test–retest reliability and four items with low discrimination parameters were removed from the 14‐item scale. The APDS4, consisting of four items, had test–retest reliability and internal consistency comparable to those of the original scale. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the APDS4 fit a unidimensional model. The validity of the APDS4 was confirmed by significant associations between the APDS4 scores and the original scale scores, knowledge of dementia, helping behaviour intentions toward people living with dementia, helping behaviour experience, attending the Dementia Supporter Training Course, and engagement in healthcare jobs. In a randomised controlled trial dataset, the APDS4 was more responsive to educational interventions than the original scale. Conclusion: The shortened APDS4 was established as a reliable, validated, and responsive scale. • Objective assessment of sleep during three trimesters in pregnancy was conducted. • Sleep efficiency was the worst in the third trimester of pregnancy. • Total sleep time was the shortest in the third trimester of pregnancy. • Positive correlation existed between sleep efficiency and back pain and leg cramps. • Sleep problems significantly increased as the pregnancy progressed. Studies on actual circumstances of sleep in pregnant women are limited to surveys of self-reported symptoms, and objective assessments are missing. Sleep disturbances due to hormonal imbalances are common during pregnancy. This study aimed to assess sleep quality by objective assessment using an actigraph and by self-reported assessment using a questionnaire for sleep during each trimester of pregnancy and to elucidate how sleep quality changed from the first to the third trimester of pregnancy. A longitudinal questionnaire survey was administered and sleep measurements using an actigraph were recorded at three time points during the first, second, and third trimesters in primiparous women who had conceived naturally. During the first trimester, "feeling of being refreshed when waking up in the morning" was not noted, and a decline was observed in mental function. During the second trimester, a positive correlation was observed between morning sickness and sleep quality. Sleep quality was the worst during the third trimester, with the shortest total sleep time and poor sleep efficiency, along with poor physical function scores. Back pain and leg cramps significantly correlated with sleep efficiency in the third trimester. Poor sleep during pregnancy begins in the first trimester. If minor problems, such as morning sickness, continue in the second trimester, sleep quality is greatly affected. Furthermore, during the third trimester of pregnancy, low back pain and leg cramps are more likely to occur due to an increase in the abdominal area and may interfere with sleep. Introduction: This survey assessed the perspectives of physicians, people with diabetes (PWD), and caregivers in Japan regarding initiation barriers and treatment burden associated with insulin therapy, and expectations for new insulin therapies. Methods: An online survey, conducted May–June 2023, was completed by physicians (n = 411), PWD (type 1 diabetes, n = 108; type 2 diabetes [T2D]: insulin-naive, n = 114; insulin-treated, n = 108), and caregivers (family members, n = 107; nurses, n = 117; care workers, n = 104). Agreement with statements regarding initiation barriers, current feelings, and burden of insulin therapy was assessed. Physicians' views on ideal glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and actual levels in PWD at insulin initiation were captured. Results: Most PWD agreed with the statements "I don't want to be bothered with doing injections" (77.8–92.1%) and "I don't want to inject myself for the rest of my life" (78.7–91.2%). Physicians also considered these factors to be of high importance for PWD; however, physician and PWD (insulin-naive T2D) responses were significantly different for 11 statements. The greatest underestimation by physicians was for the statement "my family will be worried" (41.8% vs. 66.7%), whereas social factors (e.g., "my friendships may suffer," "if I take insulin I will be discriminated against") were overestimated by physicians (49.1% vs. 33.3% and 46.5% vs. 24.6%, respectively). Although > 70% of physicians considered HbA1c < 9.0% (< 75 mmol/mol) ideal for insulin initiation, only ~ 30% of PWD started insulin at HbA1c < 9.0% (< 75 mmol/mol). Nurses rated the burden of assisting with insulin injections significantly lower than family members or care workers. Respondents agreed the need for less frequent injections and improved glycemic control were important attributes expected from future insulin therapies. Conclusion: Differences in perceptions between physicians and PWD in Japan regarding insulin therapy persist, but this gap may be narrowing. Background: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a highly misreported health problem. Its diagnosis is complex and requires the use of valid and reliable instruments. Objective: To develop and validate the Epidemiological Diagnostic Instrument for TMD (EDI/TMD). Methods: Content validity (CV), response process (RP), construct validity (EFA), reliability (inter and intraobserver consistency), and convergence validity of the EDI/TMD were assessed and compared to the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD). Results: An instrument composed of a 9‐question questionnaire and a 12‐step clinical protocol was developed. CV analysis reduced the instrument to a 5‐question and 7‐step clinical protocol (CVI = 0.93). Some instructions were included after the RP. The EFA found three factors: myogenous TMD, arthrogenous TMD, and differential diagnosis. The reliability scores ranged from substantial to excellent. When compared to the DC/TMD, the EDI/TMD total score indicated that this instrument is valid and provides satisfactory diagnostic criteria (Kappa = 0.906; p < 0.001), and can distinguish non‐TMD and TMD individuals, with a cut‐off point of 4.9 (Sensitivity = 1.0; Specificity = 1.0; AUC = 1.0). For individuals who had both myogenous and arthrogenous TMD, the cut‐off point was 14 or higher (Sensitivity = 0.8; Specificity = 1.0; AUC = 0.987). For individuals who had either myogenous TMD (Sensitivity = 1.0; Specificity = 0.88; PPV = 0.89; NPV = 1.0) or arthrogenous TMD (Sensitivity = 0.95; Specificity = 0.87; PPV = 0.83; NPV = 0.96), the cut‐off point was between 5 and 13.9, with the highest EFA score being the determinant factor for final diagnosis. Researchers often use survey methods to elicit patient perspectives on their healthcare. Survey results are often subject to response bias and missing data. As part of an observational study of Veterans' healthcare preferences, we conducted a national survey of Veterans receiving care in the Veterans Affairs healthcare system. We describe two recruitment strategies offering concurrent online, paper, and phone survey options to different sets of participants and examine response and missingness patterns between recruitment methods and modalities. In Strategy 1 we sent recruitment letters presenting options to complete our survey online or on paper. If patients indicated that they wanted to complete a paper survey, we mailed them a paper survey. In Strategy 2 we sent recruitment letters with paper surveys and included the option to complete the survey online. We compared response rates, characteristics, and missingness for the strategies and survey modalities. We sent 4399 initial letters using Strategy 1 and 8148 initial letters using Strategy 2 with response rates 7.7% and 13.2%, respectively; 70.6% of respondents completed paper surveys. Across both strategies, paper survey respondents were older and had lower educational attainment. There were significantly more paper surveys missing greater than 2% of items than online surveys (OR 6.3, 95% CI [4.8, 8.1]). Our findings suggest tradeoffs associated with survey modality and recruitment strategies. Mixed-modality recruitment may increase response rates and decrease missing data and response bias. Context : Injury surveillance and training load monitoring are both essential for the development of preventative strategies for gradual-onset musculoskeletal injuries in elite sport. Our aim was to survey health professionals working with elite tennis players on whether and how they monitor injuries and training load. Design.· A cross-sectional multinational online open-survey. Methods.· The survey was developed and advertised in English, Spanish, and Portuguese languages on social media channels, a tennis academic journal, professional tennis associations, and clinical networks of the research team, from December 2020 to April 2021 . Results : 71 health professionals from 27 different countries working with elite tennis players responded to the survey. Injury surveillance is performed by 94% (68/72) of the survey respondents, with only 10% (7/68) using the consensus- recommended Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center questionnaire. Most common barriers identified by health professionals to injury surveillance are time constraints (66%), lack of knowledge (43%), and technology (31%). Training load monitoring is performed by 50% (36/72) of the health professionals working with elite tennis players. Main metrics monitored are weekly differences in training load (72%) and acute:chronic workload ratio (58%). Most common reasons for training load monitoring are injury prevention (94%), training planning (81 %), and player feedback (53%). Conclusions: Despite a high percentage of health professionals implementing injury surveillance metrics, most of them do not use any validated method. Only half of health professionals working with elite tennis players monitor training load. Lack of knowledge and technology were the main barriers reported for adequately monitoring injuries. AbstractObjectiveMethodsResultsConclusionTo understand current practices and challenges for collecting author feedback for English-language, industry-sponsored publications in Asia-Pacific (APAC), and the implications for adherence to international publication guidelines.A cross-sectional, internet-based survey of industry (‘internal’) authors (17 questions) and publication professionals (18 questions) supporting publications in APAC, conducted between November 18 and December 4, 2022.Overall, 142 survey responses were received, of which 94 (66%) were complete and included in the analysis (33 internal authors, 61 publication professionals). Almost half (45%) of internal authors preferred a non-English language for providing feedback on publications, and most (70%) would use this language whenever possible. Internal authors favored written (91%) versus spoken (73%) English, and email was the preferred mode of communication. Publication professionals said they have observed qualitative differences when authors provide feedback in a preferred non-English language versus English. Many agreed that authors tend to provide more substantive or critical feedback when they can respond in their preferred non-English language. Internal authors had low self-assessed familiarity with key publication guidelines, while most publication professionals had a moderate or high self-assessed familiarity. The main barriers to application of publication guidelines, as rated by publication professionals, were that external authors in APAC are not familiar with global publication guidelines and do not always provide feedback/responses in writing.It is important to consider the diverse language, cultural, and communication preferences of individuals involved in English-language publication development in APAC, and to ensure that authors are aware of current publication guidelines and best practices. Background: Obesity (body mass index ≥ 30 kg/m2) is a major risk factor for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and affects most patients with HFpEF. Patients living with obesity may experience delays in HFpEF diagnosis and management. We aimed to understand the clinical journey of patients with obesity and HFpEF and the role of primary care providers (PCPs) in diagnosing and managing patients with both conditions. Methods: An anonymous, US population-based online survey was conducted in September 2020 among 114 patients with self-reported HFpEF and obesity and 200 healthcare providers, 61 of whom were PCPs who treat patients with HFpEF and obesity. Results: Half of patients (51%) with HFpEF reported waiting an average of 11 months to discuss their symptoms with a PCP; 11% then received their diagnosis from a PCP. PCPs initiated treatment and oversaw the management of HFpEF only 35% of the time, and 44% of PCPs discussed obesity treatment medication options with their patients. Only 20% of PCPs indicated they had received formal obesity management training, and 79% of PCPs indicated they would be interested in obesity management training and support. Conclusion: PCPs could play a valuable role in addressing obesity and referring patients with obesity and signs and symptoms of HFpEF to cardiologists. Increased awareness of HFpEF and its link to obesity may help PCPs more quickly identify and diagnose their patients with these conditions. Objective: To identify faith-based leaders' (FBLs') knowledge, perceptions, and questions about syringe services programs (SSPs). Methods: We conducted a one-time, national online survey of 461 Christian FBLs August–September 2022. Results: 56% of FBLs agreed they support having SSPs in their communities; only 7% strongly disagreed. We identified 15 main questions FBLs have about SSPs. We found statistically significant differences based on FBL Protestant affiliations. Mainline FBLs are more knowledgeable about SSPs, likely to believe a larger number of SSP services would benefit their community, supportive of SSPs, interested in data related to SSPs, and likely to look to local public health officials to shape their opinions on SSPs compared with non-mainline FBLs. Conclusions: SSP advocates can address questions that FBLs have about SSPs before beginning outreach. By understanding common Protestant denominational affiliations, advocates can focus initial engagement efforts on FBLs in their communities who are more likely to support SSPs. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to evaluate the opinions of individuals aged 18 and above in our country regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and robots in the field of healthcare. BACKGROUND: The growing population and patient load, coupled with increasing data, can expedite the diagnosis and treatment process for patients through faster, easier, and more accurate interpretation of information. METHODS: The study encompasses voluntary participants aged 18 and above, who have either undergone surgery in a hospital or have accompanied a family member during a surgical procedure and possess internet access as well as the capability to participate in online surveys. RESULTS: A total of 725 individuals participated in our study 61% (n=442) of respondents expressed trust in the operation of AI and robots in the hospital setting. 64.1% (n=465) of participants expressed trust in AI's contribution to disease diagnosis and laboratory tests. The confidence in AI's use in radiological examinations and its contribution reached 71.6% (n=519). Background/Aim. Given that frequent manipulation of the abutment during immediate loading can have a negative impact on the surrounding peri-implant hard and soft tissues, the concept "one abutment at one time" (OAO) has been introduced and documented in daily clinical practice. The a im of the study was to evaluate c hanges i n p eriimplant bone levels, clinical and radiographic parameters, and patient perspectives during the six-month follow-up period. Methods. The study was designed as a randomized controlled clinical trial. Patients with bilaterally healed sites in the posterior mandible received implants with a diameter of no less than 3.5 mm and a length of at least 8 mm. Based on randomization, patients were divided into a test group and a control group. Patients who were in the test group received implants that were immediately loaded with definitive abutments. In contrast, patients in the control group received implants where healing abutments were placed, followed by temporary abutments. Implants were immediately loaded with provisional restorations within the first seven days. They were delivered over the test group's definitive abutment and the control group's temporary abutment. Probing depth, bleeding on probing, clinical attachment level, plaque index, and keratinized tissue width were measured. Patient-Reported Outcome Measures and the Oral Health Impact Profile - 19 (OHIP-19) questionnaires were noted. Results. Out of 24 included patients, 22 completed the six-month follow-up. Peri-implant bone loss between study groups was comparable (mesial: t = -0.798, df = 21, p = 0.434; distal: t = 1.688, df = 21, p = 0.106), without statistical inter-group significance. OHIP-19 total scores significantly decreased after three months and remained similar six months after the implant placement in both groups without statistically relevant clinical inter-group changes. Background/Aim. LeFort colpocleisis (LFC) is a procedure for treating pelvic organ prolapse (POP) in women. The aim of the study was to assess the sociodemographic characteristics, anatomical outcomes, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes of patients who underwent LFC for POP. Methods. The study retrospectively and consecutively included 103 patients who underwent LFC for stage III and stage IV POP between January 2010 and December 2022. The participants' sociodemographic characteristics and clinical outcomes were documented. The Turkish version of the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory (PFDI-20) questionnaire was used to determine quality of life. Results. The patients' mean a ge was 7 3.1 ± 2 6.7 y ears, mean body mass index 27.4 ± 3.8 kg/m2, parity 4.8 ± 1.5, smoking rate 12.6%, POP quantification (POP-Q) stage III 30.1%, and POP-Q stage IV 69.9%. Their satisfaction rate results were 93.3%. Significant differences were observed in the preoperative period compared to the postoperative period in constipation (40.7% vs. 26.2%; p = 0.038), difficult defecation (22.3% vs. 8.7; p = 0.012), fecal incontinence (18.4% vs. 7.7%; p = 0.039), stress urinary incontinence (25.2% vs. 4.8%; p < 0.001), urge incontinence (49.5% vs. 27.1%, p = 0.001), voiding dysfunction (37.8% vs. 23.3%; p = 0.002), and urinary retention (42.7% vs. 12.6%; p < 0.001). Postoperative PFDI-20 scores were also significantly lower compared to the preoperative period (57.19 ± 16.57 vs. 21.62 ± 6.96; p < 0.001). Conclusion. This study showed that LFC has been established as a surgical procedure with high anatomical success, high patient satisfaction rates, and minimal complications, especially in advanced POP with age-related comorbidities. Autism screening questionnaires are sometimes used as a measure of "autism-associated traits" in samples drawn from the general population, even though such tools are primarily developed and designed for use in samples of children diagnosed with or being assessed for autism. Here, we explore the psychometric properties of the Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ) current version reported at age 8 in a large population-based sample. Using data from the Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort study (MoBa), we perform exploratory (N = 21,775) and confirmatory (N = 21,674) factor analyses on items and compare our results with previously suggested factor structure models of the SCQ. Furthermore, we test for measurement invariance across sex and registry-ascertained autism diagnostic status (N diagnosed = 636). A 5-factor model provided best fit to the data in both children with and without autism diagnoses, though with some qualitative differences in what the factors represent across these groups. This model performed largely consistently across boys and girls in the general population. Taken together, the SCQ's measurement properties must be carefully considered when it is used in population-based samples and measurement invariance testing of other autism screening tools used in similar contexts is warranted. Using questionnaires in research relies on the expectation that they measure the same things across different groups of individuals. If this is not true, then interpretations of results can be misleading when researchers compare responses across different groups of individuals or use in it a group that differs from that in which the questionnaire was developed. For the questionnaire we investigated, the Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ), we found that parents of boys and girls responded to questionnaire items in largely the same way but that the SCQ measured traits and behaviors slightly differently depending on whether the children had autism. Based on these results, we concluded that researchers using this questionnaire should carefully consider these differences when deciding how to interpret findings. SCQ scores as a reflection of "autism-associated traits" in samples that are mostly or entirely made up of individuals without an autism diagnosis may be misleading and we encourage a more precise interpretation of scores as a broader indication of social-communicative and behavioral traits. Parental involvement in neonatal comfort care is a core component of family-centred care. Yet, parents experience a range of positive and negative feelings when providing pain-relieving interventions for their infants. Parents of infants who participated in the Parental touch trial (Petal), a multicentre randomised controlled trial investigating the impact of gentle parental touch on neonatal pain, were asked to complete an anonymous survey. This survey aimed to (1) explore parent-reported motivations in deciding to participate in the Petal trial; (2) understand parent-reported experiences related to trial participation; (3) understand parents' willingness to participate in future studies; and (4) evaluate parent-reported feelings while they were delivering a gentle touch intervention either before or after a clinically necessary blood test. One hundred six parents (1 parent per infant) took part in the survey. Primary motivators for participation were altruistic. Parents most frequently reported that they wanted their child to take part in the research because it has a potential benefit to babies in the future and because they wanted to improve scientific understanding. Parents reported that providing gentle touch to their children during painful procedures was associated with positive emotions, such as feeling "useful" (64%) and "reassured" (53%). Furthermore, nearly all parents (98%) were pleased to have participated in the Petal trial and would consider, or maybe consider, participating in further research studies. These results underscore the importance of structuring trials around parental involvement and providing opportunities for parents to be involved in providing comfort to their infants during necessary painful clinical procedures. Purpose: Few studies have specifically targeted symptom management interventions for adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors. A greater understanding of AYA cancer survivors' experiences with cancer treatment-related symptoms would help develop age-appropriate oncology symptom management interventions. The purpose of this qualitative analysis was to explore AYA cancer survivors' experience with cancer treatment-related symptoms. Methods: Nineteen post-treatment AYA cancer survivors (18–39 years old) who self-reported moderate–severe cancer treatment-related symptom severity participated in video conferencing or telephone interviews. The questions in the interview guide queried participants to share their experience with cancer treatment-related symptoms. Inductive content analysis was used to identify themes from the interviews. Results: The themes that emerged from the interviews included (1) cancer treatment-related symptoms negatively affected AYA cancer survivors' quality of life (e.g., symptoms served as a reminder of cancer recurrence possibility); (2) AYA cancer survivors' attitudes and feelings about communicating cancer treatment-related symptom concerns to clinicians (e.g., patient–clinician communication was bolstered when AYAs perceived that symptoms were being taken seriously); (3) AYA cancer survivors are interested in oncology symptom management clinical trials, but logistical challenges are barriers to participation; and (4) AYA cancer survivors are interested in nonpharmacological treatments for symptom management. Conclusion: Results highlight the burden of cancer treatment-related symptoms on day-to-day life among post-treatment AYA cancer survivors. Future work is needed to identify nonpharmacological symptom management interventions, strategies to improve patient–clinician communication about symptoms, and strategies to increase the visibility and accessibility of symptom management clinical trials for AYA cancer survivors. Aims: To identify healthcare professionals' digital health competence profiles and explore associated factors to digital health competence in healthcare settings. Design: A cross‐sectional study. Methods: Data were collected from 817 healthcare professionals from nine organizations with an electronic questionnaire by using Digital Health Competence instrument (42 items) and Aspects Associated with Digital Health instrument (15 items) between 1st March and 31st July 2022. K‐means clustering was used to describe digital health competence profiles. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to explore associated factors. Results: Analysis revealed three digital health competence profiles: A – high competence (n = 336), B – intermediate competence (n = 352) and C – low competence (n = 129). Between the profiles, digital health competence showed significant differences (p <.001). Recent graduation year, working in outpatient environments and leader or specialist position were associated with higher digital health competence. Organizational practices and the influence from colleagues improved competence in human‐centred remote counselling, digital solutions as part of work, competence in utilizing and evaluating digital solutions and ethical competence. Support from management improved digital solutions as part of work and ethical competence. Conclusion: Nursing and allied health professionals working in other than outpatient environments should be specifically acknowledged when digital health competence development initiatives are designed and targeted. The positive influence from colleagues could be harnessed by enhancing their involvement in digital health competence development methods such as orientation, mentoring or coaching. Additionally, managers should take a stronger role in supporting different areas of digital health competence. Impact: This was the first study that explored healthcare professionals' digital health competence profiles and associated factors. The detection of healthcare professionals' digital health competence profiles guides the development of digital health education according to different needs in healthcare environments. Introduction: Occupational therapy in residential aged care facilities (RACFs) can enhance residents' occupational engagement and wellbeing. However, industry reports suggest that occupational therapists in Australian RACFs have mostly provided physical therapies such as pain management via massage and not addressed residents' occupations. There is limited literature on what constitutes occupational therapists' practice in RACFs to inform policy and practice. The aim of this cross‐sectional survey was to explore practice patterns of occupational therapists working in Australian RACFs and influences on their practice. Methods: Occupational therapists working in Australian RACFs were invited from July 2019 to March 2020 to complete a self‐report online questionnaire via email and advertisements on industry websites, newsletters, and social media. The questionnaire asked therapists about their caseload, referrals, assessments, and interventions. Data were analysed descriptively and presented as frequencies and percentages. Results: A total of 214 occupational therapists completed the survey. Occupational therapists' daily practice largely focussed on pain management; other areas of practice included falls prevention, pressure care, and mobility. The Aged Care Funding Instrument in place at the time of the survey was identified as the leading factor influencing therapists' choice of assessments and interventions. Organisational policies and procedures were also perceived as key factors influencing occupational therapy practice. Conclusion: This paper highlights the influence of government funding and organisational policies in limiting occupational therapists' scope of practice and their ability to fully address the occupational needs of residents. Occupational therapists and the profession in general should be aware of factors in aged care funding models, and their application, that restrict occupational therapy practice and inhibit residents' function and advocate for change where needed. With the introduction of the Australian National Aged Care Classification funding model replacing Aged Care Funding Instrument, future research should explore potential changes to therapists practice following the implementation of the new funding model. Objectives: To perform a survey among members of the European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI) regarding the use of contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM). Methods: A panel of nine board-certified radiologists developed a 29-item online questionnaire, distributed to all EUSOBI members (inside and outside Europe) from January 25 to March 10, 2023. CEM implementation, examination protocols, reporting strategies, and current and future CEM indications were investigated. Replies were exploratively analyzed with descriptive and non-parametric statistics. Results: Among 434 respondents (74.9% from Europe), 50% (217/434) declared to use CEM, 155/217 (71.4%) seeing less than 200 CEMs per year. CEM use was associated with academic settings and high breast imaging workload (p < 0.001). The lack of CEM adoption was most commonly due to the perceived absence of a clinical need (65.0%) and the lack of resources to acquire CEM-capable systems (37.3%). CEM protocols varied widely, but most respondents (61.3%) had already adopted the 2022 ACR CEM BI-RADS® lexicon. CEM use in patients with contraindications to MRI was the most common current indication (80.6%), followed by preoperative staging (68.7%). Patients with MRI contraindications also represented the most commonly foreseen CEM indication (88.0%), followed by the work-up of inconclusive findings at non-contrast examinations (61.5%) and supplemental imaging in dense breasts (53.0%). Respondents declaring CEM use and higher CEM experience gave significantly more current (p = 0.004) and future indications (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Despite a trend towards academic high-workload settings and its prevalent use in patients with MRI contraindications, CEM use and progressive experience were associated with increased confidence in the technique. Clinical relevance statement: In this first survey on contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) use and perspectives among the European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI) members, the perceived absence of a clinical need chiefly drove the 50% CEM adoption rate. CEM adoption and progressive experience were associated with more extended current and future indications. Introduction: The primary purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions and utilization of spinal thrust manipulation (STM) techniques of physical therapists who treat patients with low back pain (LBP) in the State of Minnesota. A secondary purpose was to investigate differences between physical therapists who perform STM and those who do not. Methods: A cross-sectional design was utilized through the completion of an electronic survey. 74 respondents completed the survey. Descriptive measures were recorded as frequencies for categorical data or mean ± standard deviation for continuous data. For between-group comparisons, chi-square analyses were used for categorical items of nominal or ordinal data and t-tests were utilized for continuous data. The alpha level was set at p < 0.05. Result: 60.2% of respondents reported using STM when treating patients with LBP. 69.9% of respondents utilize a classification system. 76.7% of individuals answered correctly regarding the Minnesota State practice act. Of those who use STM, 81.8% utilize a Clinical Prediction Rule. Respondents who use STM were more likely to have a specialist certification (chi-square = 6.471, p = 0.011) and to have completed continuing education courses on manual therapy (chi-square = 4.736, p = 0.030). Discussion/Conclusions: Physical therapists who perform STM are more likely to have a better understanding of their state practice act, be board certified, and have completed continuing education in manual therapy. KEY POINTS: This research builds upon the understanding of clinical practice patterns of physical therapists, specific to utilization and clinical decision making for manual therapy treatment interventions for LBP. Adherence to treatment recommendations for LBP could benefit from further educational within the profession of physical therapy, mainly continuing education, promotion of clinical residency training, and/or attainment of specialist board certification. Physical therapists who perform STM are more likely to have a better understanding of their state physical therapy practice act, have further training as evidenced by board certification, and have pursued continuing education in the realm of manual therapy or manipulation techniques. From January 1, 2010 to January 31, 2019, a case-control study was conducted to compare the female sexual function of 106 cervical cancer survivors from a tertiary hospital and 185 women admitted to a gynecological outpatient clinic from the same health area for a routine gynecological examination (n=46) or for a benign gynecological disorder (symptomatic, n=113; asymptomatic, n=26). We prospectively assessed the female sexual function using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). For the contrastive analysis hypothesis, we employed R statistical software. Cervical cancer survivors reported lower sexual activity rates than controls, in general, did (47.12% vs. 88.65%, p=0.0001), and, particularly, compared with healthy and symptomatic controls (47.12% vs. 82.61%, p=0.003; 47.12% vs. 87.61%, p=0.0001, respectively). Sixty and fifty-eight hundredths percent of the cervical cancer survivors experienced female sexual dysfunction, mainly due to hypoactive sexual desire (93.27%). Female sexual dysfunction was diagnosed in 64.32% of the controls, with sexual arousal disorders being the most common diagnosis (44.86%). Compared with controls, cervical cancer survivors exhibited considerably lower FSFI total scores and in sexual desire and lubrication domains (p <0.000; p <0.0001; p=0.023). Cervical cancer survivors had worse female sexual function and less sexual activity than controls did, although scores in both groups were in range of FSD. Rates of female sexual dysfunction were similar across cervical cancer survivors and controls, with hypoactive sexual desire and sexual arousal disorders as the most common diagnoses, respectively. Background: Little is known about the provision of work-related support for (self-)employed people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) by healthcare providers (HCPs) or employers. Objective: This study aims to explore the experiences of (self-)employed people with RA or axSpA regarding work-related support from HCPs and employers in the Netherlands. Methods: This cross-sectional study concerned an online survey for (self-)employed people, aged ≥ 16 years and diagnosed with RA or axSpA. The survey focused on experiences with HCPs and employers' work-related support and included questions on sociodemographic factors, health and work characteristics and work-related problems. Results: The survey was completed by 884 participants, 56% with RA and 44% with axSpA, of whom 65% were employed, 8% self-employed and 27% not employed. In total, 95% (589/617) of (self-)employed participants reported work-related problems. Sixty-five percent of employed and 56% of self-employed participants had discussed these work-related problems with rheumatologists and/or other HCPs. Whereas 69% of employees with their employer. Both employed and self-employed participants reported that work-related advices or actions were more often provided by other HCPs (53%) than rheumatologists (29%). Fifty-six percent of employees reported this work-related support by the employer. Conclusion: This survey among (self-)employed people with RA or axSpA found that the majority reported work-related problems, but only half of them received any work-related support for these problems. Discussion of work-related problems with HCPs was more often reported by employed than self-employed participants. To evaluate the level of knowledge and adherence to Clinical Practice Guidelines on fibromyalgia of physiotherapists in Spain. A cross-sectional study using an ad-hoc online survey was implemented to assess aspects on the assessment, treatment, and decision of the length of the therapeutic approach on fibromyalgia. Based on the results, professionals were classified as adherent, partially adherent, or non-adherent. The level of agreement with several statements on the condition was also evaluated across the professionals surveyed to evaluate the potential consensus. A total of 240 physiotherapists met inclusion criteria, amongst which 68 (28.33%) were adherent. The academic level of studies (Chi-square = 48.601, p-value = 0.001) and having had previous training in fibromyalgia (Chi-square = 151.011, p-value = 0.001) displayed statistically significant differences across adherence-based groups. Consensus was reached for 15 out of 24 statements. Our findings highlight the presence of an acceptable level of knowledge and adherence to clinical practice guidelines in the field of fibromyalgia among physiotherapists in Spain. Practice implications Our results also reveal the existence of an evidence-to-practice gap in the field, with potential room for improvement: further efforts on promoting and reinforcing the importance of evidence-based therapies are needed, from university teaching plans to clinical updates for daily practice.
