Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) possess superb properties originating from their unique chiral structures. However, accurately controlling the structure of SWCNTs remains challenging due to the structural similarities of their chiral structures, which hinders their widespread application in various fields, particularly in electronics. In recent years, much effort has been devoted to preparing single chiral SWCNTs by adopting three constructive strategies, including growth condition control for structurally unstable liquid catalysts, employing stable solid catalyst design, and pre-synthesis of carbon seeds with a well-defined shape. This review comprehensively discusses the state-of-the-art developments in these approaches as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Applying galvanic replacement reactions (GRRs) to the host chiral nanoparticles (CNPs) is an exclusive method to generate alloy CNPs with mesoporous structures through chirality transfer. However, the GRR-mediated chirality transfer is too inefficient to impose strong optical activities on the alloy mesoporous CNPs (or m-CNPs). Vicinal diamines are an important structural motif in bioactive natural products and pharmaceutical intermediates. Herein, an environmentally friendly and efficient electrochemical approach to azidoacetamides, as one variant of vicinal diamines, has been developed. This reaction features mild conditions and broad substrate scope, without the use of any chemical oxidant or transition-metal catalysts. Carbon monoxide (CO) plays an important role in signaling in cells, making its use as a therapeutic tool highly intriguing. Reduced burst emissions are important to avoid the cytotoxicity and tissue damage caused by CO. Here, we developed a stable diiron carbonyl [FeFe] hydrogenase agent that enables prolonged CO release activity (half-life of over 9 h) in cells. The integrated analysis allowed the identification of the key intermediate sites and CO accumulations with subcellular resolution. We observed that the [FeFe]A complex was enriched in neurons with S-methyl bond rupture. Furthermore, the [FeFe]A complex efficiently reduced the aggregation of tau proteins (49.3% reduction) and showed superior biocompatibility in nerve cells (∼ 95% survival). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An environmentally friendly and efficient electrochemical fluorosulfonylation of styrenes has been developed. With the use of sulfonylhydrazides and triethylamine trihydrofluoride, a diverse array of β-fluorosulfones could be readily obtained. NosN is a class C radical S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) methyltransferase (RSMT) involved in the biosynthesis of nosiheptide, a clinically interesting thiopeptide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces actuosus. NosN employs an unprecedented catalytic mechanism, in which SAM is converted to 5′-methylthioadenosine (MTA) as a direct methyl donor. In this study, we report identification of several nucleoside-linked shunt products in the NosN-catalyzed reaction. Comparative analysis of NosN and the class A RSMT RlmN and further density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal important mechanistic insights into the catalyses of the two types of enzymes, showing that the radical intermediates generated by similar pathways can have very diverse reactivities. This investigation provides strong evidence supporting the previous mechanistic proposal of NosN catalysis, validating the presence of a key radical adduct that results from the addition of an MTA-derived methylene radical onto the C4 of the indolyl substrate.
