The recycling of bio-waste from households is an essential factor in achieving the recycling quotas for municipal waste laid down by the EU. A major problem is posed by impurities in the bio-waste collected, such as plastics, metals and glass. It is virtually impossible for compost producers to produce quality-assured compost from bio-waste with an impurity content of more than 3 wt%OS. The draft of the new Austrian Compost Ordinance stipulates a limit of 2 wt%OS of interfering substances in accepted bio-waste. A rapid measurement method has been developed and comprehensively validated for the immediate on-site checking of contaminant content at the bio-waste bin or in a vehicles. Data on the type and amount of impurities collected in the course of sorting analyses carried out over several years in 10 selected areas in Styria, Austria showed an average impurity content of 2.1 wt%OS. This impurity content can be considered representative for rural and urban communities in Austria. Among the interfering substances, plastics predominate, at 53%, of which pre-collection bags made of plastics form the highest proportion. A more detailed examination of pre-collection bags shows a higher proportion of use of biodegradable plastic bags, which have become more numerous in recent years in the more rural communities. In order to reduce mis-sorting, the effect of a wide variety of measures on citizens was tested in selected areas. Here, the distribution of paper bags as well as the threat of a cost increase due to special collections in combination with distribution of these bags were the methods with the greatest effect. Airborne particulate matter (PM) is of great concern in the modern-day atmosphere owing to its association with a variety of health impacts, such as respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Of the various size fractions of PM, it is the finer fractions that are most harmful to health, in particular ultrafine particles (PM0.1; UFPs), with an aerodynamic diameter ≤ 100 nm. The smaller size fractions, of ≤2.5 µm (PM2.5; fine particles) and ≤0.1 µm (PM0.1; ultrafine particles), have been shown to have numerous linkages to negative health effects; however, their collection/sampling remains challenging. This review paper employed a comprehensive literature review methodology; 200 studies were evaluated based on the rigor of their methodologies, including the validity of experimental designs, data collection methods, and statistical analyses. Studies with robust methodologies were prioritised for inclusion. This review paper critically assesses the health risks associated with fine and ultrafine particles, highlighting vehicular emissions as the most significant source of particulate-related health effects. While coal combustion, diesel exhaust, household wood combustors' emissions, and Earth's crust dust also pose health risks, evidence suggests that exposure to particulates from vehicular emissions has the greatest impact on human health due to their widespread distribution and contribution to air pollution-related diseases. This article comprehensively examines current sampling technologies, specifically focusing on the collection and sampling of ultrafine particles (UFP) from ambient air to facilitate toxicological and physiochemical characterisation efforts. This article discusses diverse approaches to collect fine and ultrafine particulates, along with experimental endeavours to assess ultrafine particle concentrations across various microenvironments. Following meticulous evaluation of sampling techniques, high-volume air samplers such as the Chem Vol Model 2400 High Volume Cascade Impactor and low-volume samplers like the Personal Cascade Impactor Sampler (PCIS) emerge as effective methods. These techniques offer advantages in particle size fractionation, collection efficiency, and adaptability to different sampling environments, positioning them as valuable tools for precise characterisation of particulate matter in air quality research and environmental monitoring. Inadequate and inappropriate e-waste management in developing African countries is harmful to human beings and to the environment. This paper offers a South African industry point of view of four stakeholder groups active in managing e-waste from household consumers. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews with 20 participants representing environmental specialists; governmental bodies; recycling/disposal entities responsible for collection and recycling, and supply chain members producing, distributing, and retailing. ATLAS.ti was used to analyse the transcribed interviews. Industry views and several practical recommendations for effective e-waste recycling and collection from household consumers were offered. How do the curators of science and technology collections represent the daily realities of doing science? Through the acquisition of Professor Stephen Hawking's office by the Science Museum, this paper will explore what is involved in making major acquisitions for national collections. How do curators consider what to preserve from the eclectic range of items found in the working spaces of scientists? What do the personal artefacts of a scientist's life represent, and what do acts of curatorial choices say about the narratives that are foregrounded -- and those that are not -- in positioning that life historically? And how do those choices illuminate the considerations involved in the way science and technology is represented in our national collections? By going beyond the glass case, we consider what it takes to bring an object into a collection: the intellectual considerations of how its stories are preserved for a nation and the practical considerations required so that items can even be considered for future display. The paper illuminates the formal and informal networks around scientists' collections, and the processes and judgements that science and technology curators make every day when choosing what could be important for defining our history. Using the Stephen Hawking office as a case study the article explores the representation of scientific practice in museum collections, the relationship of some collections with celebrity and disability, and some of the challenges posed by science and technology acquisitions compared to other types of museum object. The paper explores how knowledge is generated in museum collections, through the act of acquiring a new collection. It asks fundamental questions, which are essential to the fields of museology and science and technology studies, about the contribution to knowledge made by personal scientific objects. It goes beyond the study of collections as artefacts of display in exhibitions and galleries, providing a detailed analysis of a routine but oftenneglected aspect of behind-the-scenes museum work: the acquisition of a collection. Arguing that a large and complex collection is a vital tool for understanding the complexity of science, the paper uses the 'museum as method' (Thomas, 2016) which prioritises simple curatorial questions and the use of the objects in exploration; this enables scholars and curators to respond to material evidence of scientific knowledge, and identify narratives that are prioritised, and others that are obscured, in the historic record. In doing so, it suggests that curators are uniquely placed to provide insights into the roles of human and non-human actors in the construction of scientific knowledge, demonstrating how the Hawking collection allows us to explore the nature of scientific practice, the creation of scientific celebrity, and the potential to give visibility to disability within the history of science whilst de-centring the myth of the scientific genius in museum narratives. This article will examine the RIPPING ATOPOS project initiated by the Athens-based ATOPOS Contemporary Visual Culture Organization (ATOPOS). In this project, contemporary artists and fashion designers are commissioned to create their own works of art or garments, either inspired by specific pieces or by using duplicates of the 1960s paper dresses from the ATOPOS collection. The article describes results of the collaborations with the different artists and fashion designers. This paper raises the theme of the history of Lampung in the old newspaper collection. The old newspaper collection is one of the rare collections in the National Library of Indonesia. Rare newspaper collections, apart from being a primary source in historical research, have other characteristics that are not shared by the collection of books or other collections in the National Library of Indonesia. This is the background of this research. This research used a descriptive analysis method. It observed and analyzed several collections of selected rare newspapers representing various periods from the Dutch colonial era, the Japanese occupation period, era of the independence revolution, and the old order government to the new order government period. The newspaper collections selected were those that contained information about Lampung from different periods. This is to prove that there are many traces of Lampung's history in old newspaper collections and they are not minor sources of data. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to construct a digital collection and database of traditional clothing that is convenient for the digital dissemination and application of traditional clothing and provide resources for research on clothing fashion, traditional clothing techniques, clothing culture, history and clothing teaching. Design/methodology/approach: A real object analysis method was used in this paper, based on 15 core elements of the internationally common DC metadata standard, and with consideration to the characteristics of clothing products and clothing industry application specifications, the core elements of DC are expanded to facilitate the detailed record of the characteristic information of clothing, especially the implicit clothing culture. A code symbol compilation method was developed to give each piece of clothing a unique number, facilitating identification, classification and recording. At last, a metadata construction scheme for traditional clothing was developed. A traditional embroidered children's hat and Mamianqunt serve as examples to demonstrate the metadata elements. Findings: The clothing meta-database provides a main body of traditional clothing while also paying attention to the collection of cultural elements. It is composed of five layers of classified data, source data, characteristic data, connotation data and management data, as well as 28 data elements, providing ease of sharing and interoperation. Originality/value: This paper expands the subset of fashion metadata by describing traditional clothing metadata, especially the excavation of clothing cultural elements, and developing code compilation methods so that each clothing product can obtain a unique identification number, thereby building a traditional clothing metadata construction scheme consisting of five data layers and containing 28 data elements. The Dermaptera is a polyneopteran order with > 2,000 described species from mainly tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate regions. More than 310 species of the Dermaptera belonging to nine families have been reported from the Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) as a result of the extensive work of Gyanendra Kumar Srivastava. Embracing environmental and climatic heterogeneity, the Indian subcontinent is an intersection of multiple faunal regions and includes several dermapteran groups of special interest. To restart the studies on the Dermaptera of this region, which has been stagnant for a decade, this paper includes a beginner's guide for collecting and identifying Dermaptera, together with a brief summary of recent advances in their classification and phylogeny. In the Zoology Museum of Gazi University(ZMGU) has a collection of Türkiye by a variety of insect groups. In this paper is given presented list of suboder Heteroptera collection of this Museum, and this collection maintains much more than 381 species-group taxa belonging to 30 families. In the collection includes aquatic, semi-aquatic and terrestrial specimens of Heteroptera specimens, they are also important part of the ZMGU-collection. The scientific world of the nineteenth century was shaped by far-reaching discoveries, expeditions, travel and collection activities as well as by the development of extensive natural scientific social networking. During the 1840s, Dominik Bilimek (1813–1884) arose as a key personality in European natural sciences, with a significant impact on the biological, geoscientific and even archaeological communities. The Bilimek collection at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna encompasses thousands of specimens and provides a large number of original labels with date, locality and companions in the field. This set of collection labels was analysed qualitatively and quantitatively with respect to its historical value to increase our knowledge about the explorer's life and his social network. The study also focuses on Bilimek's so far unknown social links, which were recovered by the processing of the collection, probably resulting in the use of these data for a social network analysis of a nineteenth-century scientific network. Renal transplantation is common worldwide, with >25,000 procedures performed in 2022. Usage of prophylactic perinephric drains is variable in renal transplantation; drains are associated with risks, and there is a lack of consensus regarding benefit of routine drain placement in these patients. This meta-analysis assessed whether prophylactic drainage reduced need for reintervention postoperatively. This systematic review and meta-analysis was carried out using the Preferred Reporting Items in Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis, and prospectively registered on PROSPERO. Summary statistics for outcomes of interest underwent meta-analyses to a confidence interval (CI) of 95% and are presented as Forest Plots for Odds Ratio (OR). A systematic literature search in June 2023 revealed 1,540 unique articles across four databases. Of these, four retrospective cohort studies were selected. Metaanalysis of three studies showed no significant reduction in reintervention rate with pre-emptive drain placement, OR = 0.59 (95% CI: 0.16-2.23), p = 0.44. Meta-analysis did not show a significant reduction in perinephric collections with prophylactic drain insertion OR = 0.55 (95% CI: 0.13-2.37), p = 0.42. Finally, there is not good evidence that drain placement reduces superficial wound complications or improves 12-month graft survival. Further work is needed, including well-designed, prospective studies to assess the risks and benefits of drain placement in these patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Multiple factors influence the degree of completeness of any thematic collection, such as a biological collection encompassing any natural group, but even any collection of man-made items (including art collections and object collections) that encompass any specific theme. The concept of “completeness” itself is both subjective, inasmuch as it may refer to any purpose unilaterally defined by the collector, and objective, inasmuch as that purpose includes an exhaustive coverage of the actual diversity inherent in the chosen group. In a general sense, also the factors (or “conditions”) that exert their influence on the collection process can be grouped in two dimensions: objective (availability)and subjective (desirability). The former, quantitatively ranging from rarity to abundance, is subject to collection bias as scientifically defined, while the latter defines the subjective aims of the collector. Both are influenced by cognitive biases, whose discussion is beyond the scope of this short paper, meant just to provide a graphical representation, based on logical Venn diagrams, of those main conditions, and to elucidate the discrete categories at the intersection of the observed sets of items. Information on the thin sections collection from Late Devonian deposits of Donets Basin, the Dnipro-Donets Depression, the Pre-Dobrudzhian and Lviv Paleozoic Toughs is provided. This collection is kept at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and represented by thin sections of rocks from 13 boreholes and one outcrop. The collection data is a valuable material for studying the development of the organic world of past eras and includes important information for the study of oil-bearing sulfate-carbonate deposits of the Middle and Upper Devonian of Ukraine. The monograph "The Atlas of Late Devonian сalcareous algae of Ukraine" has been based on this collection. The atlas is the result of many years of research by O. I. Berchenko on the study of calcareous algae and stratigraphy of the Late Devonian in Ukraine. "The Atlas of Late Devonian сalcareous algae of Ukraine" is the first, and so far the only, work including all known monographically described fossil calcareous algae of the Late Devonian in Ukraine at that time and containing images of 123 species (7 of them are new) wich belong to 30 genera of Late Devonian calcareous algae genera of the Donets Basin, the Dnipro-Donets Depression, the Pre-Dobrudzhian and Lviv Paleozoic Toughs. Some historians of the 'Special Loan Collection of Scientific Apparatus' exhibited in 1876 interpret its principal significance as catalysing the eventual transformation of science collections in the (South) Kensington Museum into London's present-day Science Museum. Debates about that nexus have not, however, noted that this exhibition was an international crowd-sourced venture in public science. Far from being collection-founding donations, most artefacts displayed were discretionary loans contributed by private citizens, learned societies, instrument makers, universities, engineering companies and state departments from across both the UK and Europe, with most displayed items later returned to their exhibitors. Our paper draws upon the art historiography literature of 'loan exhibitions' to consider the 1876 exhibit in (mostly) physical science as part of a growing democratic tradition of resource sharing. This exhibitor-focused approach is illustrated via case studies of two kinds of contributors that did not predominantly have their loans converted to donations: (male) instrument makers and women, especially widows. In that context, we can interpret apparatus lending in 1876 as forms of advertising, memorialising, and just occasionally offloading disused but historically important equipment. It is in such terms that we can better understand why only a small fraction of loaned 1876 apparatus become permanent parts of the South Kensington science collections via such means as state departments discarding obsolete technical equipment. The present paper aims to highlight the results of the study on the collection and valorisation of milk in quality conditions. It is known that both internal factors and exploitation and environmental factors influence the quantitative and qualitative performances of cattle.50 cows belonging to the Fleckvieh breed and reared in semi intensive farming conditions were taken into study. Statistical processing was done on a computer software program, analysis of variance and covariance (S.A.V.C.). Analysing the data from the milk analysis reports, we can see that the maximum limit allowed for the NCS indicator is exceeded in the winter season (480.36x 1000 somatic cells/ml of milk), the maximum value recorded for this season being of 6737.00 x 1000 somatic cells/ml, in the other seasons the average values are within the maximum limit accepted by the European Community (EC) respectively of 400000 somatic cells/ml of milk. We can conclude that there are deficiencies in complying with the milking technique (training of the worker, preparation of the milking plant, preparation of the cow, etc), since there are cows in which NCS in milk exceeds the maximum limit allowed by the European Community. This article uses autoethnography to explore objects from Zambia, Hong Kong, and Ireland, dated between 1848 and the 1990s. It explores subjective conceptualizations of the "colonial object," and seeks to disrupt imperialist narratives as well as to decenter the white family from which its examples come. The implementation of the circular economy is increasingly supported by many governments. It is performed by integrating the activities of reverse supply chain (RSC) into those of forward supply chain. However, many companies that traditionally focus on the activities of forward supply chain have decided to collaborate with third-party reverse logistics providers to manage the RSC. This collaboration motivates the work presented in this paper to propose better decisions for decision makers in the providers under the fact that integrating decisions of the collection of End-of-Life products and their disassembly process proposes a RSC with better performance. In this paper, an integrated problem concerning those decisions is presented and formalised. It also deals with the uncertainty of the quality and the quantity of products as well as the demands of the associated components. Two approximate methods are developed to provide the solutions. The fungarium was collected by Jerzy Wojciech Szulczewski in the Wielkopolska region in Western Poland in 1909–1911, 1928, and 1960–1966 (nine volumes). It includes dried plant specimens with disease symptoms of fungal origin and is currently located in the POZ Herbarium (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland). It is one of the oldest and richest Polish collections of this category although some parts were destroyed or lost after the Second World War. Many of the sheets have original annotations by the author and hand-written labels with both plant and fungus names. A checklist of all species is presented in the appendix. The article is devoted to the understanding and scientific and theoretical analysis of the peculiarities of the implementation and protection of the right to information in the conditions of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. It was determined that private law, despite all its focus on the maximum provision of personal freedom, including freedom in the exercise of rights, the admissibility of limiting a person in the exercise of these rights solely on the grounds and in the manner determined by law, recognizes not only the admissibility of such restrictions, but also necessary, if the interests of national security, territorial integrity or public order require it in order to prevent riots or crimes, to protect public health, to protect the reputation or rights of other people, to prevent the disclosure of information obtained in confidence, or to maintain authority and impartiality justice. It was determined that a person has the right to confidentiality of information about himself, which is meaningfully a component of the right to respect for his private life and the right to information in the context of his free receipt, use, distribution, storage and protection of information necessary for the realization of his rights, freedoms and legitimate interests. Content-wise, the latter can be information in the field of science, nature, politics, culture and art, sports, finance, leisure, business and economy, etc. It was concluded that the prohibition of censorship under Art. 15 of the Constitution of Ukraine forces to carefully resolve the issue of balance between censorship and restriction of the right to information in the conditions of martial law, which forces the Law to determine the grounds, procedure and procedure for restricting a person’s right to information. It was concluded that the list of information with limited access, determined by the Order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine No. 73 of 03.03.2022, regarding the prohibition of the dissemination of information, the disclosure of which could lead to the enemy becoming aware of the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the defense forces, negatively affect the course of performing tasks as assigned during the legal regime of martial law must be depersonalized, because the specified order is aimed at streamlining relations between representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and journalists. Off‐grid solar systems provide clean and affordable energy sources. Adoption of off‐grid Solar energy is becoming increasingly popular in Kenya as a source of renewable energy, with an estimated 10 million people using off‐grid solar power systems as of the end of year 2022. However, the rising off‐grid solar systems technology uptake comes with a growing amount of solar e‐waste, which can have harmful environmental and health effects if not managed properly. Current data on the exact amount of solar e‐waste being generated in Kenya is unavailable and this amount will continue to rise with the expiry of many of these off‐grid solar systems lifespans. This study through stakeholder's workshop and document review data collection and analysis approaches, established that Kenya just like many countries in the Global South has a robust general waste policy and regulation management framework. However, it lacks specific policies and regulations on off‐grid‐solar electronic waste management a challenge that many countries in the Global North have made considerate steps in addressing. In addition, there is a lack of awareness of the hazardous nature of off‐grid solar systems' e‐waste components to both consumers and institutions of governance. There is a lack of adequate infrastructure and sufficient systems for off‐grid solar e‐waste management in the country. Enforcement and implementation challenges of the existing general waste regulations due to limited resources and capacity and corruption culture are major impending factors. This calls for the development of effective policies and regulations to ensure sustainable off‐grid solar e‐waste management in Kenya against the backdrop of the rising uptake of off‐grid solar systems. Background: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is considered as the last treatment option in many life-threatening diseases. The number of donated cells can affect transplantation success. This study attempted to investigate the relationship between the health-promoting lifestyle of allogeneic stem cell donors and the number of donated CD34+ and CD3+ cells. Materials and Methods: The study was a descriptive correlational study in which 100 peripheral blood stem cells donors participated. A demographic form and health-promoting lifestyle profile-II questionnaire were distributed to participants, and then cell separation was started. Afterward, the results of CD34 + and CD3 + cell counts, as well as other clinical parameters of the participants, were recorded. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive and analytical statistical methods . Results: The results showed that the mean total health-promoting lifestyle profile score for hematopoietic stem cell donors was 2.876±0.461. There was no significant relationship between the health- promoting lifestyle score and the number of CD34+, CD3+ cells and CD3+/CD34+ ratio. A positive and significant correlation was found between the weight of the donors and the number of CD34+ (P < 0.001) and CD3+ cells (P = 0.001). The number of CD34+ cells was significantly different between women and men (P = 0.009). Conclusion: Lifestyle had no significant effect on the number of CD3+/CD34+ cells. This systematic review examines the available clinical data on CD34+ cell mobilization, collection, and engraftment in multiple myeloma patients treated with the anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies daratumumab and isatuximab in clinical trials and in real life. Twenty-six clinical reports were published between 2019 and February 2024. Most studies documented lower circulating CD34+ cells after mobilization compared to controls, leading to higher plerixafor requirements. Although collection yields were significantly lower in approximately half of the studies, the collection target was achieved in similar proportions of daratumumab- and isatuximab-treated and nontreated patients, and access to autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) was comparable. This could be explained by the retained efficacy of plerixafor in anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody-treated patients, while no chemotherapy-based or sparing mobilization protocol proved superior. Half of the studies reported slower hematopoietic reconstitution after ASCT in daratumumab- and isatuximab-treated patients, without an excess of infectious complications. While no direct effect on stem cells was observed in vitro, emerging evidence suggests possible dysregulation of CD34+ cell adhesion after daratumumab treatment. Overall, anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies appear to interfere with CD34+ cell mobilization, without consistently leading to significant clinical consequences. Mexico generates specific phytosanitary regulations for each product and origin to prevent the entry of quarantine pests and/or delay their spread within the national territory, including fungi and oomycetes. Phytosanitary regulations are established based on available information on the presence or absence of these pathogens in the country; however, the compilation and precise analysis of reports is a challenging task due to many publications lacking scientific rigor in determining the presence of a taxon of phytosanitary interest in the country. This review evaluated various studies reporting the presence of plant pathogenic fungi and oomycetes in Mexico and concluded that some lists of diseases and phytopathogenic organisms lack technical-scientific basis. Thus, it highlights the need and presents an excellent opportunity to establish a National Collection of Fungal Cultures and a National Herbarium for obligate parasites, as well as to generate a National Database of Phytopathogenic Fungi and Oomycetes present in Mexico, supported by the combination of morphological, molecular, epidemiological, pathogenicity, symptom, and micrograph data. If realized, this would have a direct impact on many future applications related to various topics, including quarantines, risk analysis, biodiversity studies, and monitoring of fungicide resistance, among others. Decorative elements and accessories of clothing -- a set of symbols brought into individualized harmony and possessing a power of expressiveness many times greater than even linguistic ones -- are some social emblems that make it possible to reconstruct history at different stages of its development. Multilateral analysis of these products can provide important information about the socio-economic and cultural level reached by a particular community. In addition to the aesthetic function, clothing decorations carry the meaning of a complex communication system, reporting that its owner belongs to a certain ethnic group, social or age category; they manifest ideas of splendor, elegance, and refinement that existed in the environment where they were created. The National Museum of History of Moldova possesses a rich collection of ornaments and jewelry. It includes both adornments for body (rings, bracelets, earrings, pendants, beads, necklaces, hairpins, etc.) and for clothes (fibulae, sewn-on plaques, buttons, buckles, etc.). The subject of this article is the pafta buckles, which are of interest not only from an artistic point of view, but also due to their apotropaic significance. The diversity of the collection, as well as the degree of study of this category of objects, allowed us to consider in this paper only those pafta buckles, the shape and ornamentation of which testify to the Balkan and Oriental influence. The study highlights the functional and decorative significance of these buckles, touches upon aspects related to the technique and craftsmanship of their manufacture, analyzes the diversity and symbolism of ornamental motifs. The aim of this paper is to identify scientific content and compilations related to circus arts available in subscription databases and in renowned and free academic information systems. After providing terminological definitions for circus and circus arts, the article describes the search strategies applied and the issues which emerged during the searches, and then introduces quantitative results, thereby also identifying the major periodicals and the most often referenced articles of the topic. The analysis provides useful input for representatives of other arts related to circus arts (e.g., performing arts, theatre arts, visual arts, musical arts) and of other academic fields (e.g., literary studies, history, media science); but first of all, it serves as an unparalleled library information service guide for navigating between electronic information sources. Introduction. The value of family health history as a means to understanding health risk has been long known. Its value in a precision medicine context is also now becoming apparent. General practitioners (GPs) are considered to play a key role in the collection, and investigation, of family health history, but it remains widely reported as being both poorly and infrequently undertaken. Little is known about this practice in Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ). Aim. This study aimed to explore current practices in relation to the ascertainment of family health history, with a view towards precision medicine. Methods. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 GPs recruited from one urban area of NZ. The interviews were subjected to a thematic analysis. Results. Family health history information was used to varying degrees in four areas - risk ascertainment, patient engagement with a diagnosis, social context and building relationships. Patient cultural considerations were rarely mentioned. Reliability of information provided by patients, resource constraints, context driven consults and electronic health record limitations are potential indicators of current limits of family health history. Discussion. Our findings present a baseline of current practice and echo larger studies from overseas. As precision medicine is not yet routine, a unique opportunity exists for consideration to be given to establishing specific roles within the NZ health system to enable equitable practice of, and subsequent health gains from, the use of family/whānau health history information as part of precision medicine. Background: Human saliva as a bodily fluid—similar to blood—is utilized for diagnostic purposes. Unlike blood sampling, collecting saliva is non-invasive, inexpensive, and readily accessible. There are no previously published systematic reviews regarding different collection, transportation, preparation, and storage methods for human saliva. Design: This study has been prepared and organized according to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines. This systematic review has been registered at PROSPERO (Registration ID: CRD42023415384). The study question according to the PICO format was as followed: Comparison of the performance (C) of different saliva sampling, handling, transportation, and storage techniques and methods (I) assessed for analyzing stimulated or unstimulated human saliva (P and O). An electronic search was executed in Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed. Results: Twenty-three descriptive human clinical studies published between 1995 and 2022 were included. Eight categories of salivary features and biomarkers were investigated (i.e., salivary flow rate, total saliva quantity, total protein, cortisol, testosterone, DNA quality and quantity, pH and buffering pH). Twenty-two saliva sampling methods/devices were utilized. Passive drooling, Salivette®, and spitting were the most utilized methods. Sampling times with optimum capabilities for cortisol, iodine, and oral cancer metabolites are suggested to be 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, and 14:00 PM to 20:00 PM, respectively. There were 6 storage methods. Centrifuging samples and storing them at -70 °C to -80 °C was the most utilized storage method. For DNA quantity and quality, analyzing samples immediately after collection without centrifuging or storage, outperformed centrifuging samples and storing them at -70 °C to -80 °C. Non-coated Salivette® was the most successful method/device for analyzing salivary flow rate. Conclusion: It is highly suggested that scientists take aid from the reported categorized outcomes, and design their study questions based on the current voids for each method/device. The genus Nicotiana is one of the largest in the Solanaceae family and includes more than 80 species. The most wellknown and widespread species of the genus Nicotiana is tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum), within which there are numerous cultivars. Tobacco is one of the most important industrial plants in Poland and worldwide. The great diversity within the genus makes it an excellent source of variation in a narrowing gene pool and can be used in breeding programmes. Studies of Nicotiana species also concern mechanisms of polyploidisation and evolution. There are also model species within the genus. However, in order to make full use of the collected germplasm resources, a detailed knowledge of the collection materials is necessary. While there are various reports in the international literature describing specific issues, the aim of this paper is to indicate the diversity of species in the genus Nicotiana as a whole on the basis of our own research and available studies. This review covers the characterisation of the genus Nicotiana in terms of origin and geographical distribution, as well as cytogenetic and molecular differences between species. An important aspect is the presentation of the morphological diversity of Nicotiana accessions and the variation in the most important tobacco alkaloids. A very important issue is the resistance of Nicotiana species to bacterial, fungal and viral diseases, which allows their use in resistance breeding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article deals with the collection of Jacob Theodor Klein and the beginnings of scientific interest in amber in early modern Gdańsk. The text is intended to show the importance of this forgotten collection and the ongoing research into succinite (Baltic amber). The objects from Klein’s collection themselves have been dispersed, and have not survived to the present day, but Klein’s written inventory, which in 1740 ended up in the collection in Bayreuth to later reach Erlangen, allows the collection to be analyzed thoroughly. It is the numerous drawings of amber exhibits that are of particular importance. Thanks to the activities of Klein and his contemporaries, including Johann Philipp Breyn, and the drawings made at their request by their daughters, it is possible to trace the flow of objects between collections and reconstruct the meaning of the ‘paper museums’ they created. The text points to the key role of illustration as an element of information exchange in the respublica litteraria of the time and collaboration of scholars. The role of Gdańsk collections as the basis for the great collections being created at the time in St Petersburg and Dresden is also highlighted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper provides a novel survey of current collections of frozen raptor carcasses and tissue samples in natural history museums (NHMs), environmental specimen banks (ESBs) and other research collections (ORCs e.g. at universities and research institutes) across Europe and assesses the extent to which collections might support pan-European raptor biomonitoring through the provision of samples for contaminant analyses. The paper is based on questionnaire responses received in late 2018 and early 2019 from 116 institutions. Issues covered include the number of raptor carcasses and diversity of raptor species arriving annually at collections, the number of carcasses stored in freezers, the extent to which collections retain frozen tissue samples, what records are kept of carcasses and tissue samples, constraints to expanding collections of frozen carcasses and tissues and the extent to which collections currently engage in ecotoxicological research and monitoring. Our findings show that collections in Europe receive well over 5000 raptor carcasses per annum, and that NHMs are the key recipients of raptor carcasses for most countries. Collections in Europe probably hold well over 10,000 raptor carcasses in their freezers, offering a substantial resource of frozen raptor carcasses and tissues from recent years. Moreover, these carcasses include good specimen numbers for species that have been prioritized for pan-European contaminant monitoring. Collections are becoming digitized aiding access to samples. However, freezer capacity is a key constraint to retention of carcasses, and contaminant biomonitoring is novel for most NHMs. Our findings on the repository and availability of frozen raptor carcasses and tissues held by collections in Europe can enable greater use of these specimens for pan-European contaminant monitoring in support of better chemicals management. This paper addresses a lot-sizing problem in manufacturing/remanufacturing systems. The studied system is a single manufacturing line where both regular manufacturing and returns remanufacturing processes are carried out, with different set-up costs for each process. We consider also a returns collection phase from customers/distributors with deterministic returns quantities at each period of the planning horizon. The environmental aspect is assumed in this study by considering a carbon emission constraint for the manufacturing, remanufacturing and transportation activities. A mixed integer programming model to minimise the management cost and meet the customer’s needs under different manufacturing constraints is proposed. Otherwise, An adaptation of the well-known Silver and Meal (SM) heuristic and two hybrid method approaches (HM1 and HM2) providing approximates solutions are developed. The mixed integer model was tested on Cplex (Software optimizer), and the obtained results were compared with the ones provided by the adapted heuristic SM and the hybrid methods. The numerical analyses show that hybrid methods provide good-quality solutions in a moderate computational time. The proposed model establishes a collegial and an integrated process that sets values, goals, decisions and priorities along the considered supply chain while taking into account the environmental aspect. The highly interactive and variable nature of scales of space and time featured in components of the Earth system imparts enormous complexity to land‐atmosphere interactions. Here, we introduce an open special collection on Advances in Scaling and Modeling of Land‐Atmosphere Interactions that features articles in JGR: Biogeosciences, JGR: Atmospheres, Journal of Advances in the Modeling of Earth Systems, and Earth & Space Science. Collectively, these articles identify interactions across multiple processes, in field experiments, long‐term observations, and numerical simulations, which are then used to advance theories of scale interaction to improve predictive models. Plain Language Summary: Scale refers to the patterns in space and oscillations in time of features in our universe. The Earth system features a wide range of scales. Understanding the processes that explain the size, shape, regularity, and changes in those scales looms large in our science. Land‐atmosphere interaction refers to the ways that organisms and elements of the land surface influence the structure and evolution of the atmosphere and in turn, how weather and climate processes influence the ground. Numerous studies through coordinated field experiments and computer simulations have helped us advance understanding of how scale influences land‐atmosphere interaction. The author of the paper proposes to take a closer look at the collection Frankofonia Literaria in which French-language literature is published in Polish translation. In the case of the collection, several phenomena specific to the mechanism of the editorial choice, and then the way of presentation of the source target in translation in the paratexts (especially peritexts) are articulated. The author analyzes the profile of the publisher, the profile of the translator and then the nature of the editorial peritext. She also reflects on the specificity of the decision-making process as well as on the role(s) of the translator both in the choice and in the dissemination of the translated works. There is a wealth of scholarly knowledge that aims to disentangle the complex relationship between gender and water. This scholarship coupled with practitioners' collective experiences and insights have resulted in the emergence of certain narratives that describe how unequal gender relationships to water are manifested and how they can be addressed. In this paper, we critically examine four of these water and gender narratives, myths, or realities: Are women solely responsible for water collection? Are women excluded from the global water workforce? Is technology is sufficient enough to solve water‐related gender inequalities? Does participation in design and implementation of water services address gender inequalities? By reviewing existing evidence underlying these water and gender narratives that are prominent in much academic research and international programming, we show the nuances of water and gender relationships, and the discrepancies upon which these narratives are grounded. We draw on examples and research largely focusing on the Global South, but highlight a need for similar examination of these narratives in the Global North. Finally, we discuss remaining knowledge gaps and argue that these normative understandings overlook limited and potentially contradicting evidence on the intricacies of the relationship between gender and water.
