This work presents the results of paper laser processing. It begins with the selection and examination of the processing parameters, then an examination of the properties of the modified papers and examples of applications of the developed modification method. The properties of laser-modified paper were studied using reflectance spectrophotometry to examine the colour aspects of the modified papers, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and confocal microscopy for a morphological analysis, and Raman spectroscopy to analyse the papers under the influence of laser light. The influence of laser processing on the wettability of paper and the evenness of unprinted and printed paper was also investigated. The knowledge gained on paper surface modification with laser light was used to propose several applications, such as methods of marking, tactile detection, the controlled removal of optical brightener, ink, and metallised coatings from paper packaging, highlighting the design and aesthetics of paper. Development of high‐precision RGB patterning process is needed to implement high‐resolution micro display (OLEDoS) for next‐generation VR/AR products. In general, specially designed and manufactured masks are required to realize above 3,000ppi high‐resolution display in structured OLED material deposition. In this study, we implemented direct laser patterning IR‐fs optical system operating in MHz and GHz burst modes and evaluated its capability for precise micro‐drilling of alumino‐borosilicate glass materials. The fine hole‐shaped pattern is produced at a minimum of 5µm pitch level for about 0.6 inch area without sacrificing the glass strength. Diode lasers are increasingly being utilized as an alternative to conventional soft tissue surgery. Diode lasers originally referred to wavelengths ranging from 810 to 980 nm, but a visible diode laser with a 445-nm wavelength has emerged as an additional wavelength for soft tissue surgery. The goal of this case series was to demonstrate the clinical results of both visible and nearinfrared (NIR) wavelengths when utilized for stage-two implant surgery. Ten patients with 23 implants were treated at Stony Brook University, Department of Periodontics and Endodontics and Faculty Practice, for implant uncovering using both visible and nonvisible (NIR) diode lasers. The uncovering was performed utilizing 445-, 970-, and 980-nm wavelengths at a power setting of 2 W in either continuous or pulsed modes. The fiberoptic tips were initiated using blue articulating paper. Either topical benzocaine or infiltration anesthesia was utilized prior to soft tissue removal with the initiated tip. All patients healed uneventfully without any postoperative complications. Visible and NIR diode lasers provide an alternative and safe method to uncover submerged implants at stage-two surgery. This paper presents the results of an experimental study of the dynamic characteristics of the process of laser fragmentation/laser-induced fluorescence (LF/LIF) of trinitrotoluene traces on a paper surface under synchronized double-pulse laser irradiation. An Nd:YAG-laser (266 nm) was used for the fragmentation of TNT molecules, while fluorescence excitation of their NO fragments was performed using a KrF laser with a generation line of 247.867 nm in the region of the location of the bandhead of the P12 branch of the γ(0, 2) absorption band of the NO molecule. It was shown that the dissociation process of TNT traces has an inertial character and continues after the cessation of the fragmenting laser pulse. It was found that with the delay values between the fragmenting and probing laser pulses in the region of 200 ns, the efficiency of the LF/LIF method can be increased by 12 times. This paper presents the results of an experimental evaluation of the efficiency of two-pulse LF/LIF compared to single-pulse laser exposure, where the fragmentation of TNT molecules and excitation of their NO fragments were simultaneously performed by KrF laser pulses. The possibility of multiple increases in the efficiency of two-pulse LF/LIF with an increase in the energy density of the fragmenting laser radiation was shown. The obtained results are important in terms of increasing the sensitivity and/or range of the LF/LIF method for remote detection of traces of nitrocompounds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, the growth of transverse-longitudinal coupled electromagnetic modes in the interaction of high-intensity lasers with dense plasma investigated. Using kinetic theory and solving the scattering relationship for the Vlasov-Maxwell system, the collision effects on the growth of the electromagnetic mode are studied. The anisotropic distribution function considers the effects of body stress due to laser ponderomotive force and plasma density gradient. The results show that a 99% reduction in frequency in the beam path in dense plasma leads to an 88% increase in unstable modes’ growth rate. Increasing the density prevents immediate cessation and enhances the growth of unstable modes. Increasing the density gradient by 99%, the instability rate maximum will increase by 88%. Overall, this paper provides insights into the effects of collision and anisotropic distribution function on the growth of transverse-longitudinal coupled electromagnetic modes in dense plasma. Paper‐based strain sensors (PSS) have broad prospects in disposable products due to their low cost and easy degradation as environmentally friendly materials. Herein, a strain sensor made of a laser‐induced carbonization electrode is created by direct laser writing with filter paper. The conductivity and gauge factor (GF) of this strain sensor are improved by adding lignin and applying strain engineering. This enables the sensor to simultaneously satisfy high sensitivity (GF ≈ 408 and 91) for weak tension and compression strain, respectively, and with long‐term reliability. The tensile strain GF factors of up to 201 are possible, even with a weak tensile strain of 0.00088%. Furthermore, the paper‐based sensor for monitoring physiological activities like finger gestures, pulsing, swallowing, and eye blinking is demonstrated. The facile fabrication and superior performance of PSS fabricated by direct laser writing with strain engineering may pave the way for promising applications of flexible, portable, and wearable electronic devices. The split‐and‐delay unit (SDU) at FLASH2 will be upgraded to enable the simultaneous operation of two temporally, spatially and spectrally separated probe beams when the free‐electron laser undulators are operated in a two‐color scheme. By means of suitable thin filters and an optical grating beam path a wide range of combinations of photon energies in the spectral range from 150 eV to 780 eV can be chosen. In this paper, simulations of the spectral transmission and performance parameters of the filter technique are discussed, along with a monochromator with dispersion compensation presently under construction. This paper focuses on minimizing the optical reflection on spherical fused silica lenses using femtosecond (fs) laser nanostructuring. A unique type of nanopillar formation has been observed on SiO 2 surfaces possessing antireflective properties when irradiated with a specific number of overlapping pulses, polarization, and fluence levels. Maintaining precise control over these sensitive technological parameters such as defocus and incident angle during the processing of geometrically complex shapes presents a significant challenge. This study proposes a theoretical optical arrangement to address this limitation by the design of a custom scanner system optimized for curved surfaces. The paper details the optimization process of such a bent image space (inverse-hypercentric) optical system using Zemax OpticStudio. Although the practical realization of the arrangement has not been performed, simulations are conducted to prove the functionality of the concept. Furthermore, we propose a practical method for segmented structuring of spherical surfaces based on consecutive repositioning and irradiation using an industrial robotic arm. By constructing the optical model, the necessary resolution of the segmentation has been calculated for a typical F-Theta scanner system and experimental verification has been performed. Inspired by the emerging field of twistronics, moiré photonic structures have attracted great interest. In this paper, we introduce the concept of the moiré Kagome lattice (MKL), which arises from the overlapping of a Kagome lattice at a commensurable angle of 38.211°. MKL exhibits a significantly broader main photonic bandgap (PBG) when compared to the traditional Kagome lattice. Through numerical simulations, we delved into the adjustable properties of the PBG of MKL by varying lattice parameters, including filling factors and materials. Meanwhile, we also observed the presence of photonic flatbands within the MKL structure. Specifically, the emergence of a super flat isolated flatband aids in achieving single-mode omnidirectional lasers and enhancing the omnidirectional electromagnetic interaction of materials, thereby expanding the applications of moiré photonic crystals. Pavement adhesion plays a crucial role in driving safety, while traditional test methods exhibit some limitations. To improve the efficiency and accuracy of asphalt pavement texture characterization and adhesion assessments, this paper uses three-dimensional (3D) laser technology to detect the continuous point cloud data of road surface and reconstruct the 3D topography of pavement texture. On this basis, a volume parameter Volume of peak materials (Vmp) is innovatively proposed to comprehensively characterize the 3D spatial characteristics of road surface texture. The correlation analysis between the proposed Vmp and the traditional adhesion evaluation index Transversal Adhesion Coefficient (CAT) is conducted, and then refined graded adhesion prediction models based on the proposed Vmp are proposed. Results show that the proposed volume parameter Vmp can reliably and accurately characterize the asphalt pavement texture by considering more structural properties of the road surface texture. According to the research findings of this paper, it is feasible to achieve rapid and correct assessment of asphalt pavement adhesion using 3D laser detection technology by comprehensively considering the 3D characteristics of the road surface texture. Introduction: Laser technology has fundamentally transformed the landscape of dermatology, offering nuanced solutions for skin rejuvenation and resurfacing. This paper aims to explore the spectrum of laser technologies, from ablative to non‐ablative and fractional lasers, their mechanisms, benefits, and tailored applications for diverse skin conditions. As we delve into the intricacies of each technology, we also consider the scientific advancements that have made these treatments safer and more effective, promising a new horizon in skin rejuvenation. Objective: This comprehensive analysis seeks to evaluate recent advancements in laser technology for skin rejuvenation, focusing on efficacy, safety, and patient satisfaction. Methods: The selection criteria for studies in this publication focused on recent, peer‐reviewed articles from the last 20 years, emphasizing advancements in laser technologies for skin rejuvenation. Our comprehensive review involved searches in PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus and Google Scholar using keywords like "skin rejuvenation," "laser technology," "efficacy," "safety," and "dermatology." This approach focused on inclusion of recent research and perspectives on the efficacy and safety of laser treatments in the field of dermatology. Results: Our literature review reveals advancements in laser skin resurfacing technologies, notably fractional lasers for minimal downtime rejuvenation, ablative lasers for precise tissue vaporization, and non‐ablative lasers for coagulation effect promoting collagen with reduced recovery. Hybrid and picosecond lasers are highlighted for their versatility and effectiveness in addressing a wide array of skin concerns. The findings also emphasize the development of safer treatment protocols for ethnic skin, significantly reducing risks like hyperpigmentation and scarring, thus broadening the scope of effective dermatological solutions. Conclusion: This extensive review of advancements in laser technologies for skin rejuvenation underscores a remarkable evolution in dermatological treatments, offering an expansive overview of the efficacy, safety, and patient satisfaction associated with these interventions. Furthermore, the exploration of combination treatments and laser‐assisted drug delivery represents a frontier in dermatological practice, offering synergistic effects that could amplify the therapeutic benefits of laser treatments. The squeezing and statistical features of the intracavity field produced by a three-level laser coupled to a vacuum reservoir with input coherent field are studied in this paper. Employing the propagator method, we determine the Q-function for the cavity field produced by a driven three-level laser. Using this Q-function, we have calculated the mean intensity, the quadrature variance, and the squeezing spectrum of the cavity field. It has been discovered that, despite the fact that the input coherent field improves the mean intensity of the cavity field, it has no effect on the quadrature squeezing of the cavity field. The degree of squeezing increases with the rate at which atoms are injected into a cavity and a substantial degree of squeezing is found close to the maximum initial injected atomic coherence. The synthesis of 2D MoWS2 nanosheets involved the liquid-phase exfoliation technique was explored in this paper. The nonlinear optical response of MoWS2 was characterized in the 1 µm wavelength range, and its suitability as a saturable absorber (SA) was confirmed. Experimental demonstrations were conducted by using MoWS2 as an SA in an idler-resonant intracavity KTA optical parametric oscillator (OPO) driven by a dual-loss-modulated Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) YVO4/Nd:YVO4 laser with an acousto-optic modulator (AOM). By appropriately tuning the pump power and the AOM repetition rate, the Q-switched envelope pulse widths for the signal and idler waves could be significantly reduced to be shorter than the cavity round-trip transit time, i.e., the interval between two neighboring mode-locking pulses. Consequently, this enabled the generation of sub-nanosecond single mode-locking pulses with a low repetition rate, high pulse energy, and remarkable stability. With a repetition rate of 1 kHz and maximal pulse energies of 318 µJ and 169 µJ, respectively, sub-nanosecond single mode-locking pulses of the signal and idler waves were generated. The theoretical model was established using coupled rate equations with a Gaussian spatial distribution approximation. The numerical simulation results for generating sub-nanosecond single mode-locking pulses for the signal and idler waves within their respective Q-switched envelopes aligned fundamentally with the experimental results, proving that MoWS2 can be a potential nanomaterial for further optoelectronic applications. This paper introduces a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with high power and narrow linewidth broadening achieved through active region mode control. By integrating mode control with broad-spectrum epitaxial material design, the device achieves high gain, high power, and wide band output. At a wavelength of 1550 nm and an ambient temperature of 20 °C, the output power reaches 757 mW when the input power is 25 mW, and the gain is 21.92 dB when the input power is 4 mW. The 3 dB gain bandwidth is 88 nm, and the linewidth expansion of the input laser after amplification through the SOA is only 1.031 times. Additive manufacturing (AM) presents promising prospects for the production of laser ceramics, particularly those with composite structures. However, achieving uniform density within these ceramics is a formidable challenge, primarily due to the intrinsic limitations of uneven forces within the mold. This paper introduces the Density Spatiotemporal Evolution (DSE) model, a novel predictive tool designed to map the density distribution in laser ceramics throughout the AM process. The DSE model elucidates that ceramic density increases in proximity to the indenter and mold wall and reveals an oscillatory pattern in particle density during pressing. These insights have been corroborated through experimental measurements and simulation analyses. Leveraging the DSE model and a Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm, an innovative AM process is proposed. The pressure exerted to each layer of ceramics is gradient distributed, i.e. 18, 18.36, 19.31, 22.08, 33.02 MPa. Preliminary experimental results indicate a significant enhancement in density uniformity, with an improvement of up to 45% in the optimized ceramics. There are numerous instabilities present in charged particle beams that undergo exponential growth and reach saturation. In various applications, such as free-electron lasers or micro-bunching light sources, achieving saturation is desirable. Conversely, there are applications where these instabilities are utilized as linear broad-band amplifiers for signals embedded in the charged beam. In the latter scenario, the saturation of an instability induces non-linear distortions in the imprinted signal, thereby limiting the useful range of such amplifiers. Accurate evaluation of these instabilities necessitates a complete and comprehensive modeling approach that includes shot noise within the beam. Unfortunately, such modeling is not always feasible or practical. In this paper, we introduce a methodology utilizing the frequency and bandwidth of the instability as key parameters. Through this, we derive an estimation for the range of linear instability growth. Our derivation is conducted in a model-independent manner, making it applicable to a broad spectrum of instabilities. To validate our approach, we employ established and thoroughly benchmarked simulations with a free electron laser (FEL) code as well as self-consistent 3-dimensional simulation of plasma-cascade instability using code SPACE. Over the past few decades, remarkable breakthroughs and progress have been achieved in ultrafast laser processing technology. Notably, the remarkable high-aspect-ratio processing capabilities of ultrafast lasers have garnered significant attention to meet the stringent performance and structural requirements of materials in specific applications. Consequently, high-aspect-ratio microstructure processing relying on nonlinear effects constitutes an indispensable aspect of this field. In the paper, we review the new features and physical mechanisms underlying ultrafast laser processing technology. It delves into the principles and research achievements of ultrafast laser-based high-aspect-ratio microstructure processing, with a particular emphasis on two pivotal technologies: filamentation processing and Bessel-like beam processing. Furthermore, the current challenges and future prospects for achieving both high precision and high aspect ratios simultaneously are discussed, aiming to provide insights and directions for the further advancement of high-aspect-ratio processing. This paper describes the design and principle of operation of a 20 m laser strainmeter of unequal-arm type created on the basis of a Michelson interferometer and frequency-stabilized helium–neon laser. The interferometry methods used allow the measurement of the displacement of an Earth's crust section on the base of the laser strainmeter with an accuracy of 30 pm in the frequency range from 0 (conventionally) to 1000 Hz. This laser strainmeter, when connected to an accurate time system providing an accuracy of 1 μs, should structurally become a part of the laser interferometric seismoacoustic observatory, consisting of spatially separated laser strainmeters installed in various regions of Russia. Laser dazzling on complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors is an effective method in optoelectronic countermeasures. However, previous research mainly focused on the laser dazzling under far fields, with limited studies on situations that the far-field conditions were not satisfied. In this paper, we established a Fresnel diffraction model of laser dazzling on a CMOS by combining experiments and simulations. We calculated that the laser power density and the area of saturated pixels on the detector exhibit a linear relationship with a slope of 0.64 in a log-log plot. In the experiment, we found that the back side illumination (BSI-CMOS) matched the simulations, with an error margin of 3%, while the front side illumination (FSI-CMOS) slightly mismatched the simulations, with an error margin of 14%. We also found that the full-screen saturation threshold for the BSI-CMOS was 25% higher than the FSI-CMOS. Our work demonstrates the applicability of the Fresnel diffraction model for BSI-CMOS, which provides a valuable reference for studying laser dazzling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ultrafast laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSSs) have been studied intensely in the last two decades, which have become a useful method for surface nanostructures and are widely used to tune surface properties. This paper reported the fabrication of high-spatial-frequency LIPSSs (HSFLs) on FTO film induced by 1,030 nm femtosecond laser. The morphology, duty cycle and birefringence effects of HSFLs were studied in detail by changing the laser fluence and scanning speed. Clear and uniform HSFLs were formed over the entire ablated area when the laser fluence and scanning speed were 89 mJ/cm2 and 0.01 mm/s, respectively. The duty cycle of the HSFL was measured to be as high as 0.36, and the thickness of the HSFL layer was found to be in the range of 409–546 nm. The phase retardation of the FTO film with HSFLs could reach up to 96 nm and could be used as an optical attenuator with a tunable range of 71–100% for 532 nm linear polarized light. The Sorrento Peninsula is characterized by a significant occurrence of examples of vernacular architecture, which exhibit distinctive morphological and constructive features. These have been the subject of numerous studies. However, some buildings have undergone a process of transformation over time, the details of which have yet to be investigated. Architectures that initially held a rural character were enlarged and ennobled, thereby becoming what could be termed as "villas of delights". However, these clearly manifest their origin based on the permanence of some vernacular features. This paper focuses on the analysis of a case study, Villa Murat, which is exemplary in illustrating this process. This thorough interdisciplinary research combines historical investigation, based mainly on archival documents, with a direct examination of the Villa. This has enabled the retracing of the building's evolution and of the events that occurred in it. An integrated survey, which employed photogrammetry and laser scanning, enabled the assessment of the current state of conservation. The ultimate objective of this research is to propose conservative interventions which, in conjunction with the suggested new intended use, could ensure the preservation of the Villa. This paper presents a preliminary analysis of the plasma dynamic modes of operation of end-type magnetoplasma compressor (MPC) discharges. The characteristic methods used to organize the optical pumping of a photodissociation gas laser using an MPC discharge are briefly described. The kinetic and energy characteristics of photodissociation gas optical quantum generators (OQGs) with optical pumping by an MPC discharge were evaluated. Based on the numerical calculations, an analysis of the radiation–plasma dynamic structures and the spectral brightness characteristics of the MPC discharge in the ohmic mode of plasma heating was carried out. In the context of distribution networks, constructing 3D point cloud maps is crucial, particularly for UAV navigation and path planning tasks. Methods that utilize reflections from surfaces, such as laser and structured light, to obtain depth point clouds for surface modeling and environmental depth estimation are already quite mature in some professional scenarios. However, acquiring dense and accurate depth information typically requires very high costs. In contrast, monocular image-based depth estimation methods do not require relatively expensive equipment and specialized personnel, making them available for a wider range of applications. To achieve high precision and efficiency in UAV distribution networks, inspired by knowledge distillation, we employ a teacher–student architecture to enable efficient inference. This approach maintains high-quality depth estimation while optimizing the point cloud to obtain more precise results. In this paper, we propose KD-MonoRec, which integrates knowledge distillation into the semi-supervised MonoRec framework for UAV distribution networks. Laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) involves the coupling of multiple physical fields at different scales. Capturing the dynamic flow and thermal behavior of the melt pool during the L-PBF process through experimentation and predicting its quality is challenging, thus numerical simulation becomes a valuable method. The simulation results enable the prediction and assessment of the impact of material and process parameter changes on the quality of the final product. This paper reviews the methods for selecting appropriate models, performing simulation calculations, and analyzing the results. This paper makes several noteworthy contributions. It provides a comprehensive summary of the physical model, heat loss model, required heat source for simulations, and stresses generated within the melt pool. Furthermore, it explores the practical applications of L-PBF melt pool simulations, especially in defect analysis and the fabrication of complex structures. Finally, it concludes with an insightful analysis of the current trends in L-PBF simulations and outlines potential research directions to advance the development of melt pool simulations. Microscale laser dynamic forming, as a novel high-speed microforming technique, can overcome the shortcomings of traditional microforming methods. However, in practical applications, laser dynamic microforming technology is often affected by the rebound behavior of the workpiece, limiting the further improvement of processing quality and efficiency. This paper aims to reduce the rebound effect in laser dynamic forming by using multi-pulse laser shock loading. The forming results of workpieces under different laser energies and laser impact numbers were studied using experimental and numerical simulation methods. After multiple laser shocks, numerical simulations of the forming results were conducted using ANSYS/LS-DYNA software. These numerical simulation results were then experimentally validated and compared. The surface morphology of the workpieces was characterized using a confocal microscope and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) was used to analyze the chemical element content changes in the collision regions at the bottoms of the workpieces after multi-pulse loading. The SEM and EDS results revealed the collision behavior patterns during the forming process. Finally, the forming laws of workpieces under multiple laser shocks were summarized. Textured coating technology is an effective method to improve the friction and wear performance of mold surfaces. The adhesion strength at the interface between the texture and the coating is crucial for its long-term serviceability. This paper studies the adhesion strength of micro-dimple's topography textured coatings, aiming to reveal the influence mechanism of micro-dimples on the adhesion strength of textured coating interfaces. Different diameters or texture area ratios of micro-dimples were prepared on the sample surface using a picosecond laser, followed by PVD coating deposition. Scratching tests and indentation tests were then conducted on the textured coating surface. The adhesion strength and crack propagation behavior of the coating on the surface of different samples were studied under dynamic and static contact conditions. The results showed that under dynamic contact conditions, the critical load for coating failure of most textured samples was higher than that of non-textured samples. As the depth and diameter of the micro-dimple's topography increased, the critical load first increased and then decreased, with the maximum critical load being 14.9% higher than that of the non-textured samples. Under static contact conditions, almost no coating spalling was observed around the indentation on the surface of the micro-dimple's topography textured coating, while the spalling areas of non-textured samples were mainly at the edges and surrounding areas of the indentation. In contrast, the spalling regions of the textured samples were primarily concentrated at the edges of the texture. It can be seen that the dimpled texture hinders crack propagation and reduces the interlocking network of cracks, thereby reducing coating spalling. In this paper, we have studied the influence of laser polarization on the dynamics of the ionization-injected electron beams, and subsequently, the properties of the emitted betatron radiation in laser wakefield accelerators (LWFAs). While ionizing by strong field laser radiation, the generated photo-electrons carry a residual transverse momentum in excess of the ionization potential via the above threshold ionization (ATI) process. This ATI momentum explicitly depends on the polarization state of the ionizing laser and eventually governs the dynamics of the electron beam trapped inside the wake potential. In order to systematically investigate the effect of the laser polarization, here, we have employed complete three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations in the nonlinear bubble regime of the LWFAs. We focus, in particular, on the effects the laser polarization has on the ionization injection mechanism, and how these features affect the final beam properties, such as beam charge, energy, energy spread, and transverse emittance. We have also found that as the laser polarization gradually changes from linear to circular, the helicity of the electron trajectory, and hence the angular momentum carried by the beam, increases significantly. Studies have been further extended to reveal the effect of laser polarization on the radiation emitted by the accelerated electrons. The far-field radiation spectra have been calculated for the linear and circular polarization states of the laser. It has been shown that the spatial distributions and the polarization properties (Stokes parameters) of the emitted radiation in the above two cases are substantially different. Therefore, our study provides a facile and efficient alternative to regulate the properties of the accelerated electron beams and x-ray radiation in LWFAs, utilizing ionization injection mechanism. In a long-distance wireless power transmission system with a non-uniform distribution of laser irradiation, it will significantly reduce the output power of the photovoltaic array, resulting in a large amount of power loss in the system and a decrease in conversion efficiency. This paper proposes an efficient and reliable optimal circuit connection algorithm for the 5 × 5 scale photovoltaic array. Under the laser illumination of 300 W, a 20 m wireless power transmission experiment was performed on four 5 × 5 scale photovoltaic arrays. This paper introduces an autonomous robot designed for in-pipe structural health monitoring of oil/gas pipelines. This system employs a 3D Optical Laser Scanning Technical Vision System (TVS) to continuously scan the internal surface of the pipeline. This paper elaborates on the mathematical methodology of 3D laser surface scanning based on dynamic triangulation. This paper presents the mathematical framework governing the combined kinematics of the Mobile Robot (MR) and TVS. It discusses the custom design of the MR, adjusting it to use of robustized mathematics, and incorporating a laser scanner produced using a 3D printer. Both experimental and theoretical approaches are utilized to illustrate the formation of point clouds during surface scanning. This paper details the application of the simple and robust mathematical algorithm RANSAC for the preliminary processing of the measured point clouds. Furthermore, it contributes two distinct and simplified criteria for detecting defects in pipelines, specifically tailored for computer processing. Si is opaque to visible light, but transparent to infrared rays. Therefore, when the infrared laser is focused inside Si, the focal portion becomes ultra-hot, forming a modified volume (Laser induced modified volume: LIMV) inside. After the laser beam is injected into the Si wafer at equal intervals (for example, 5 µm) in the cross direction, and then a force is applied from the outside. Then, cracks are formed from LIMV, and the Si wafer is divided into small pieces of 5 µm square. This is the stealth dicing (SD) technology, which is now widely used in the manufacture of semiconductor devices. In this process, clarifying the nature of LIMV is of great industrial and academic significance. The authors have been engaged in elucidating the mechanism of LIMV development by TEM observation. This phenomenon, which at first seemed extremely puzzling, was finally elucidated. In this overview, we would like to describe the process that led to this elucidation in chronological order. Solid state light sources for projection displays have shown tremendous progress over the recent years. Their application usage is ranging from low luminance near to eye projection for augmented reality glasses to mainstream projectors. Thin and lightweight head‐mounted displays with polarized laser backlights and holographic optics were proposed. To make the distance between the eyes and the displays even shorter, we propose the backlight with an inverted wedge‐shaped light guide plate. In this work, fabrication of frequency selective surface filters by coating paper with silver ink and subsequent laser etching the frequency filter pattern has been investigated. Three filter structures consisting of a combination of square and ring patches operating at 102, 113, and 126 GHz and with corresponding signal attenuation of −15.2, −15.4, and −14.5 dB were fabricated and simulated; −5 dB bandwidths were following, 93.3–112.2 GHz, 101.9–121.1 GHz, and 112.7–132.3, respectively. Also, the proposed screen printing with assistive laser etching could be used to reduce the number of used screens. Installation quality check is essential for ensuring the construction quality of prefabrication construction. The existing techniques for assessing the installation quality of prefabricated wall panels heavily depend on manual inspection and contact-type measurements, which is labor intensive and slow. Laser scanning was previously adopted in construction quality check, however, few studies have focused on using laser scanners to assess the verticality of prefabricated wall panels, and no method has been developed for effective practical implementation. This study proposes a streamlined laser scanning approach for onsite verticality check of prefabricated wall panels. Based on systematic experiments of using the point cloud data collected by different types of laser scanners, and 25 prefabrication wall panels of four shapes, this study validates the proposed method and compares the use of different laser scanners. To facilitate an effective streamlined process for practical use, this study identifies the point cloud segmentation parameters under different laser scanning data sets and suggests suitable parameters for these case scenarios. These parameters can be adopted directly or used as references for practical application of the proposed laser scanning method in the installation verticality check. This study contributes to improving the efficiency of installation quality check of prefabrication construction, and facilitating the digital evolution of the construction industry. Practical Applications: Checking the verticality of the installed prefabricated wall panels is crucial in construction quality control. However, traditional methods for assessing the installation quality of prefabricated wall panels heavily depend on manual inspection and contact-type measurements, which is labor-intensive, slow, and costly. Liquid crystal (LC) lasers use a layer of chiral nematic liquid crystal to form a self‐organising resonant cavity. When doped with fluorescent dye and suitably excited, they form versatile micro‐lasers with high efficiencies, low thresholds, and selective wavelength emission across a continuous range of the visible spectrum. This, combined with their scalable fabrication, makes them attractive candidates for a wide variety of photonic applications, including laser displays. This paper includes a review of the principles of operation, of recent enhancements that are advancing the technology closer to market, and concludes with demonstrations of LC lasers used for medical imaging and low‐speckle holography. With the advancing energy transition, icing is a growing problem in the wind turbine sector. The development of systems to detect and mitigate icing makes it necessary to understand its basic behavior and characteristics. This paper proposes a method for the continuous and full-field measurement of the icing process of rotating blades, using a single line laser profile scanner. Inside of a climate chamber, a rotor is driven by a motor, while a system of nozzles provides a fine water dust, which leads to ice accumulating on simple NACA blades, which in turn is measured by a triangulation laser. The measurement data are cleared from outliers and presented as a surface in 3D space. An alpha shape is used to reconstruct and extract the volume of the ice between a reference and a measurement surface, using the corresponding Matlab function. Appropriate input parameters for the function and offsetting of the reference surface to improve the results are compared and discussed. The resulting system is able to detect small changes in the ice layer thickness in the sub-millimeter range. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The conventional 3-D point cloud-based deformation analysis methods, such as the shortest distance (SD), cloud-to-cloud (C2C), and multiscale model-to-model cloud comparison (M3C2), essentially regard the closest distance between two periods of point cloud data as the deformation, rather than the true position of the same point in 3-D space before and after deformation. Methods: This paper proposes a method based on the ICP algorithm to calculate the differences between the chunked multi-period point clouds to recognizes the 3-D deformations. Results and discussion: The results show that the obtained results are very close to the GNSS data but with a much larger spatial monitoring range. The accuracy is higher than that of the SD method. Moreover, we analyze the statistical relationship between the point cloud block size and the deformation vector error and determine the optimal block size. The aim of this article is to optimize the deformation analysis method and improve its accuracy to provide techniques and ideas for the wider surface deformation monitoring research field. For instance, combining this method with data from contact methods constructs a 3D overall deformation model of the mountain, enabling real-time monitoring and early warning of debris flows. In this paper, an innovative approach is introduced to address the noise issues associated with micro–cantilever array deflection measurement systems employing multiple lasers. Conventional systems are affected by laser mode hopping during switching, resulting in wavelength instability and beam spot fluctuations that take several hundred milliseconds to stabilize. To mitigate these limitations, a high–speed laser modulation technique is utilized, leveraging the averaging effect over multiple modulation cycles within the sampling window. By driving the lasers with a high–frequency carrier signal, a low–noise and stable output suitable for micro–cantilever beam deflection measurement is achieved. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated by simultaneously modulating the lasers and rapidly observing the spectral and centroid variations during high–speed switching using a custom–built high–speed spectrometer. The centroid fluctuations are also analyzed under different modulation frequencies. The experimental results confirm that the high–speed modulation method can reduce the standard deviation of beam spot fluctuations by more than 90%, leading to significant improvements in noise reduction compared to traditional laser switching methods. The proposed high–speed laser modulation approach offers a promising solution for enhancing the precision and stability of multi–laser micro–cantilever array deflection measurement systems. In this work, we focus on the prediction of the influence of CO2 laser parameters on the kerf properties of cut spruce wood. Laser kerf cutting is mainly characterized by the width of kerf and the width of the heat-affected zone, which depend on the laser power, cutting speed, and structure of the cut wood, represented by the number of cut annual rings. According to the measurement results and ANN prediction results, for lower values of the laser power (P) and cutting speed (v), the effect of annual rings (ARs) is non-negligible. The results of the sensitivity analysis show that the effect of v increases at higher energy density (E) values. With P in the range between 100 and 500 W, v values between 3 and 50 mm·s−1, and AR numbers between 3 and 11, the combination of P = 200 W and v = 50 mm·s−1, regardless of the AR value, leads to the best cut quality for spruce wood. In this paper, the main goal is to show how changes in the input parameters affect the characteristics of the cutting kerf and heat-affected zones for all possible input parameter values. Although the field of geomatics has seen multiple technological advances in recent years which enabled new applications and simplified the consolidated ones, some tasks remain challenging, inefficient, and time- and cost-consuming. This is the case of accurate tridimensional surveys of narrow spaces. Static laser scanning is an accurate and reliable approach but impractical for extensive tunnel environments; on the other hand, portable laser scanning is time-effective and efficient but not very reliable without ground control constraints. This paper describes the development process of a novel image-based multi-camera system meant to solve this specific problem: delivering accurate, reliable, and efficient results. The development is illustrated from the system conceptualization and initial investigations to the design choices and requirements for accuracy. In this paper, we have demonstrated a narrow linewidth high power fiber laser emitting at a short wavelength of ~1050 nm. The fiber laser is based on a structure of master oscillator power amplification (MOPA) with an optimized fiber Bragg-grating-based laser cavity as the seed. Both stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) and stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) effects have been effectively suppressed by using a long passive fiber between the seed and the amplifier. Based on the fiber amplifier, we have ultimately boosted the narrow linewidth laser from ~40 W to 3.2 kW with a slope efficiency of 85.1% and a 3-dB linewidth of ~0.1 nm. The SRS suppression ratio of the laser is ~29.7 dB at maximum power. Due to our fiber mode control strategies, the beam quality always stays near-diffraction-limited while amplifying, and the measured M2 factor is ~1.4 at the maximum power. This paper analyzes the tribological behavior of the Ti6Al4V ELI alloy subjected to laser texturization for medical purposes. Laser texturing enables one to observe specific patterns of the material surface at established depths. Microtexturing of the samples was performed using a 355 nm picosecond laser. The influence of the microtexturing process (depending on the process parameters) on the geometric parameters of the proposed laser texturing pattern was evaluated. Selected samples were subjected to tribological testing using the ball-on-plate technique in dry and lubricant-sliding methods (in Ringer solution). The wear properties were evaluated by comparing the coefficient friction, wear volumes, and wear ratio. A scanning electron microscope characterized the morphologies of the wear scar and the wear mechanism. The experimental results show that the surface texturing and the changes in microgrooves can reduce wear. The results indicate, that samples after laser texturing were characterized by 15% higher microhardness, compared to those in the initial state. It was found, a 26% reduction in friction coefficient and 29% in the wear volume compared to the smooth, untextured surface samples under lubricated conditions. The decrease in value of the coefficient friction and wear volume for the samples after the laser texturing process is an effect of synergistic of entrapped wear debris in micro-grooves and increased hardness for samples after laser textured. The present paper deals with effect of exponential density transition on self-focusing of amplitude-modulated laser in plasma. Density of plasma changes due to the ponderomotive nonlinearity which comes into play due to non-uniform spatial profile of laser beam leading to efficient selffocusing. Propagation of amplitude-modulated laser beam is investigated and see the effect of laser intensity and exponential density ramp profile. Aluminum–air (Al–air) batteries are considered one of the most promising next-generation energy storage devices. In this paper, we carry out an orthogonal experimental study on the SLM printing process parameters in 3D-printed Al–air battery anodes. The surface roughness, densification, and discharge performance of the electrodes under different process parameters are observed to reveal the effects of different process parameters on the forming quality and discharge performance of aluminum–air battery anodes. The results show that the laser power is the most important factor affecting the surface roughness of the porous aluminum anode, and the scanning spacing is the most important factor affecting the densification. The best printing parameters for the porous aluminum anode can be obtained when the laser power is 325 W, the scanning speed is 1000 mm/s, the scanning spacing is 0.12 mm, and the thickness of the powder spread is 0.03 mm. At this time, the surface roughness of the porous aluminum anode obtained by this process parameter is 15.01 μm, the densification is 94.97%, and the discharge is stable with a high value. Existing galvanometer-based laser-scanning systems are challenging to apply in multi-scale 3D reconstruction because of the difficulty in achieving a balance between a high reconstruction accuracy and a wide reconstruction range. This paper presents a novel method that synchronizes laser scanning by switching the field-of-view (FOV) of a camera using multi-galvanometers. Beyond the advanced hardware setup, we establish a comprehensive geometric model of the system by modeling dynamic camera, dynamic laser, and their combined interaction. Furthermore, since existing calibration methods mainly focus on either dynamic lasers or dynamic cameras and have certain limitations, we propose a novel high-precision and flexible calibration method by constructing an error model and minimizing the objective function. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated by scanning standard components. The results show that the proposed 3D reconstruction system achieves an accuracy of 0.3 mm when the measurement range is extended to 1100 mm × 1300 mm × 650 mm. This demonstrates that for meter-scale reconstruction ranges, a sub-millimeter measurement accuracy is achieved, indicating that the proposed method realizes multi-scale 3D reconstruction and simultaneously allows for high-precision and wide-range 3D reconstruction in industrial applications.
