A broadband printed thin-layer radio absorbing structure based on an array of coupled dipole antennas has been developed and created. The resulting material can be used to solve the problems of shielding electromagnetic waves and reduce the level of electromagnetic emission from various devices in the 4–7 GHz frequency range, as well as to create building radio shielding materials. A new coordination compound of gadolinium(III) with 2,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid was obtained via electrochemical synthesis. The composition of the coordination compound was investigated by means of C‒H analysis, X-ray spectral energy dispersive microanalysis, IR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The triplet level of 2,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid was determined from the luminescence spectra of the metal complex. A heteroligand complex of gadolinium stearate with acetylacetone is synthesized. Its composition is determined via thermogravimetry and energy dispersive analysis. Scanning electron microscopy shows that the synthesized material consists of layered particles with an average size of 50–60 μm. According to data from X-ray phase analysis, the complex of gadolinium stearate with acetylacetone has a tetragonal crystal lattice with parameters a = b = 24.03 Å and c = 27.81 Å. Diffuse light reflectance spectra of the complex are used to determine its band gap (3.04 eV). The magnetic susceptibility of the complex in the 2 MHz–2.5 GHz range is calculated from the experimentally measured impedances using a vector network analyzer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A heteroligand complex of gadolinium stearate with acetylacetone is prepared, its composition is determined by elemental analysis and energy dispersive analysis. The structure of the most energetically stable conformation of the stearate aqua complex of gadolinium with acetylacetone is simulated using density functional theory (B3LYP functional), its IR spectrum is calculated and compared with the experimental IR spectrum. Density functional theory (DFT) using SVWN5, B3LYP, B3P86, O3LYP, B3PW91, B1LYP, B971, MPW1PW91, PBE1PBE, BHandH, and BHandHLYP density functionals was employed to study the structural characteristics of the Y(H2O) yttrium aqua ion. The nonlocal hybrid GGA functionals show worse predictive ability in structural calculations of the Y(H2O) aqua ion compared to the relatively simple combined functional BHandH and to the simplest SVWN5 functional in LSDA theory.
