Introduction: To cope with catastrophic floods, people need to be better prepared. In this context, a self-assessment digital tool for habitat vulnerability was developed. To improve its take-up rate, we are looking at the motivations associated with the social acceptability of this tool. The motivations (hedonic—gain—normative), derived from goal-frame theory, as well as elements relating to risk perception, are tested. Method: One, 688 participants (aged between 18 and 87) first read a scenario presenting the application (reflecting either one of the motivations of the Goal Framing Theory or a control scenario with no motivation). After reading one of the scenarios, they completed an online questionnaire, measuring the acceptability of the tool using three measures: a direct one (items from the Technological Acceptability Model: ease of use, perceived usefulness and social influence), an indirect measure (by asking the percentage of neighbours interested in the tool) and a social measure (judgement of a person using the tool). The last part of the questionnaire was about subjects' risk perception. Results: The analyses show that, of all the scenarios, the one involving hedonic motivation leads to the lowest social acceptance of the tool. We also observe that a better risk perception predicts better tool acceptability. Finally, we observe interaction effects between risk perception and motivations, showing that normative motivation is better when risk perception increases and that the control condition is better when risk perception decreases. Discussion: Goal framing theory is usually used for ecological behaviors. It also appears here as relevant in the field of risk prevention. Although risk perception remains the best predictor of acceptability, these results lead us to conclude that hedonic motivation is not appropriate for the acceptability of a flood risk prevention tool. Simple Summary: The epidemiology of primary liver cancer is changing according to effective primary prevention interventions, a strictly clinical follow up of chronic patients with hepatitis and successful drug treatments of virus-related liver diseases. A reduction in virus-related hepatocellular carcinomas cases was followed by an increase in the non-viral aetiology, including metabolic and cryptogenetic factors. We used cancer surveillance data to investigate determinants potentially associated with primary liver cancer survival in a southern Italian setting characterised by a high prevalence of hepatitis viral infections and overweight and obesity. Our study provided some new insights into the potential relationship between deprivation, geographic location, access to care and hepatocarcinoma survival. Comprehensive national and regional health plans should consider the evidence provided to ensure equitable access to prevention and care pathways. While entering the digital prevention era, interoperating cancer registries with other sources providing data on lifestyles and health determinants should be promoted. A retrospective observational study utilising cancer incidence data from a population-based registry investigated determinants affecting primary liver cancer survival in a southern Italian region with high hepatitis viral infection rates and obesity prevalence. Among 2687 patients diagnosed between 2006 and 2019 (65.3% male), a flexible hazard-based regression model revealed factors influencing 5-year survival rates. High deprivation levels [HR = 1.41 (95%CI = 1.15–1.76); p < 0.001], poor access to care [HR = 1.99 (95%IC = 1.70–2.35); p < 0.0001], age between 65 and 75 [HR = 1.48 (95%IC = 1.09–2.01); p < 0.05] or >75 [HR = 2.21 (95%CI = 1.62–3.01); p < 0.0001] and residing in non-urban areas [HR = 1.35 (95%CI = 1.08–1.69); p < 0.01] were associated with poorer survival estimates. While deprivation appeared to be a risk factor for primary liver cancer patients residing within the urban area, the geographic distance from specialised treatment centres emerged as a potential determinant of lower survival estimates for residents in the non-urban areas. After balancing the groups of easy and poor access to care using a propensity score approach, poor access to care and a lower socioeconomic status resulted in potentially having a negative impact on primary liver cancer survival, particularly among urban residents. Background: This quasi-experimental study aimed to compare the effectiveness of a digital prevention intervention on work ability, physical health, and mental health with a conventional prevention program for employees with initial impairments. The study recruited 245 participants, of whom 173 completed the study, 98 (65 female, 66.3%) in the intervention group and 75 (55 female, 73.3%) in the control group. Both groups received prevention programs, with the intervention group using the Caspar digital platform and the control group using the conventional BETSI/RV Fit program. There were three measurement points in the study: T0 before the intervention, T1 in the middle of the intervention, and T2 at the end of the intervention. Participants' health was assessed using the SF-12 health status questionnaire, while their work ability was measured using the short version of the Work Ability Index. Results: Repeated-measures analyses of variance indicated that both prevention programs were effective in improving work ability and mental health, while physical health did not show any significant improvement. Additionally, the results of the study suggest that younger individuals benefited more from the digital prevention intervention, while older individuals benefited more from the conventional prevention program. Conclusion: The study emphasizes the need for further research and improvements in both research and practice. Future studies should include larger sample sizes, randomized controlled trials, and follow-up assessments to enhance understanding of the effectiveness and the durability of effects of prevention programs. Most types of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, are not curable. However, there are risk factors, such as obesity or hypertension, that can promote the development of dementia. Holistic treatment of these risk factors can prevent the onset of dementia or delay it in its early stages. To support individualized treatment of risk factors in dementia, this paper presents a model-driven digital platform. It enables monitoring of biomarkers using smart devices from the internet of medical things (IoMT) for the target group. The collected data from such devices can be used to optimize and adjust treatment in a patient in the loop manner. To this end, providers such as Google Fit and Withings have been connected to the platform as example data sources. To achieve treatment and monitoring data interoperability with existing medical systems, internationally accepted standards such as FHIR are used. The configuration and control of the personalized treatment processes are achieved using a self-developed domain-specific language. For this language, an associated diagram editor was implemented, which allows the management of the treatment processes through graphical models. This graphical representation should help treatment providers to understand and manage these processes more easily. To investigate this hypothesis, a usability study was conducted with twelve participants. We were able to show that such graphical representations provide advantages in clarity in reviewing the system, but lack in easy set-up (compared to wizard-style systems). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Continuous health monitoring in a vehicle enables the earlier detection of symptoms of cardiovascular diseases. In this work, we designed flexible and thin electrodes made of polyurethane for long-term electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring while driving. We determined the time for reliable ECG recording to evaluate the effectiveness of the electrodes. We recorded data from 19 subjects under four scenarios: rest, city, highway, and rural. The recording time was five min for rest and 15 min for the other scenarios. The total recording (950 min) is publicly available under a CC BY-ND 4.0 license. We used the simultaneous truth and performance level estimation (STAPLE) algorithm to detect the position of R-waves. Then, we derived the RR intervals to compare the estimated heart rate with the ground truth, which we obtained from ECG electrodes on the chest. We calculated the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and averaged it for the different scenarios. Highway had the lowest SNR (−6.69 dB) and rural had the highest (−6.80 dB). The usable time of the steering wheel was 42.46% (city), 46.67% (highway), and 47.72% (rural). This indicates that steering-wheel-based ECG recording is feasible and delivers reliable recordings from about 45.62% of the driving time. In summary, the developed electrodes allow continuous in-vehicle heart rate monitoring, and our publicly available recordings provide the opportunity to apply more sophisticated data analytics.
