Our study aims to understand the prevalence of cervical HPV (Human papilloma virus) infection, different subtypes causing infection and age distribution characteristics of women in Futian District, Shenzhen, China, to provide a reference for effective local prevention and treatment of HPV and targeted development and application of the HPV vaccine. Information on HPV results, age and HPV genotypes infected were collected and retrospectively analysed among women who attended the free cervical cancer screening programme conducted by the Shenzhen Futian District Government between 01 January 2016 and 31 December 2022 at our gynaecology outpatient clinics and medical check-up centres. There were 2792 positive cases among 27,738 females in Futian District, Shenzhen, with a positivity rate of 10.07%. Types 52, 58, 16, 68, 51, 39, 18, 31 and 33 were the top 9 infected genotypes in Futian District, Shenzhen, China. The high prevalence of these three genotypes, HR-HPV (High-risk human papilloma virus) types 68, 51 and 39, in the region is an important finding. Age-related differences in HPV infection rates were considerable, with the bimodal peak of the infection rate curve occurring in the age ranges of 30-34 and 60-65. The distribution of cervical HPV infection types in each region is unique, and different age groups have their susceptibility to different HPV genotypes. When a CME arrives at the Earth, it will interact with the magnetosphere, sometimes causing hazardous space weather events. Thus, the study of CMEs which arrived at Earth (hereinafter, Earth-impacting CMEs) has attracted much attention in the space weather and space physics communities. Previous results have suggested that the three-dimensional parameters of CMEs play a crucial role in deciding whether and when they reach Earth. In this work, we use observations from the Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory (STEREO) to study the three-dimensional parameters of 71 Earth-impacting CMEs from the middle of 2008 to the end of 2012. We find that the majority Earth-impacting CMEs originate from the region of [30S,30N] x [40E,40W] on the solar disk; Earth-impacting CMEs are more likely to have a central propagation angle (CPA) no larger than half-angular width, a negative correlation between velocity and acceleration, and propagation time is inversely related to velocity. Based on our findings, we develop an empirical statistical model to forecast the arrival time of the Earth-impacting CME. CLN3 is a recently identified anti-apoptotic gene, which has been demonstrated to be highly expressed in a diverse range of cancer cell lines, including ovarian cancer. In the present study, RNA interference, mediated by a lentivirus expressing CLN3 short hairpin RNA (shRNA) was utilized to knockdown the expression of CLN3 in the A2780 human ovarian cancer cell line, and its cisplatin-resistant and carboplatin-resistant sublines, A2780/DDP and A2780/CBP cells. It was revealed that the mRNA and protein expression levels of CLN3 were significantly reduced in the CLN3-specific shRNA-transduced cells, compared with the untransduced and control shRNA-transduced cells. In addition, specific knockdown of CLN3 in these cells inhibited cell proliferation and led to cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase, with eventual apoptosis. CLN3 knockdown caused increases in the levels of Bax, FAX, cleaved-caspase 3, cleaved-caspase 8 and cleaved-RARP, but decreased the level of Bcl-2. Finally, it was observed that CLN3 depletion markedly reduced the half maximum inhibitory concentration in the A2780/DDP and A2780/CBP cells. Taken together, these data suggested that CLN3 is involved in tumorigenesis and drug resistance in ovarian cancer, and may serve as a promising therapeutic target for its treatment. Purpose: Endothelial dysfunction underlies the pathogenesis of preeclampsia, but its mechanism has not yet been completely understood. In this study we have aimed to measure homocysteine (Hcy), asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), and nitric oxide (NO) levels as endothelial dysfunction markers in preeclamptic women.Methods: Control-case study with 62 preeclamptic patients and 30 controls without pregnancy complications was conducted. Plasma total Hcy, determined by capillary column gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), was correlated with serum ADMA (determined by liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry using (13)C(6)-L: -arginine as the internal standard) and NO (analyzed by GC/MS).Results: There was a highly significant increase in the plasma concentration of homocysteine (P < 0.001) and ADMA (P < 0.001) and a highly significant decrease in the plasma concentration of nitric oxide (P < 0.001) among the preeclamptic patients. The differences were more significant between mild and severe preeclampsia, with and without eclampsia, with and without HELLP (hemolysis, elevated serum level of liver enzymes, and low platelets). In the combined patients and control groups a highly significant positive correlation was found between the plasma concentrations of homocysteine and ADMA (r = 0.853, P < 0.001). In addition, significant negative correlations were detected between the plasma concentrations of nitric oxide and the plasma concentration of homocysteine (r = -0.870, P < 0.001) and ADMA (r = -0.895, P < 0.001). These significant correlations were found to persist, even when they were restricted to the preeclamptic patients.Conclusions: The homocysteine-ADMA-NO may be at least partly responsible for etiology in preeclampsia and could be regarded as markers for the severity of the disease.
