The risk is treated as an essential element of planning and realization of a construction project. Various methods and analytical tools are being sought and successively developed providing a comprehensive and exhaustive risk assessment. The proper risk identification is often a business reason for undertaking a given construction project. The scope of identification of risk factors depends on the type of construction project. Not all factors at a particular construction project are important. Therefore, the first stage of construction project assessment should be documentation studies in order to identify key risk factors. The next stage is the assessment of factors in terms of their quantification (i.e. the possibility of a factor assessment in a quantitative way). The last stage is a proper risk assessment and hierarchy of the variants of a planned construction project. From a wide range of methods used in the risk assessment in construction project selection (including: risk matrix, risk registration, MCDM (Multi Criterion Decision Making), methods in the field of operational research) the statistic approach method deserve some particular attention. The paper draws attention to the possibility of application of selected statistical tools for risk assessment in construction project. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
