Summary: Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite‐based Internet of Things (IoT) has become a hot topic in IoT networks due to the ability of global coverage, especially in remote areas. How to design a commercial LEO satellite‐based constellation to meet the IoT traffic requirement remains an open problem. In this paper, we propose a throughput optimization algorithm for LEO satellite‐based IoT networks meanwhile reducing the number of LEO satellite. Based on stochastic geometry theory, a closed‐form expression is derived for the throughput of a dynamic LEO satellite‐based IoT networks when LEO satellite equips with capture effect (CE) receiver and successive interference cancelation (SIC) receiver, respectively. Furthermore, a joint altitude and beamwidth optimization problem is formulated under the constraint of Walker constellation to optimize the throughput and the number of LEO satellites. To solve this multi‐objective optimization problem, we design an iterative non‐dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA‐II) for the rapid development of IoT traffic. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm can effectively improve the throughput performance of random access (RA) protocol in LEO satellite‐based IoT networks compared to benchmark problems. In the preparation of flexible electronic devices, obtaining a transparent conductive electrode with high electrical conductivity, high transparency, and mechanical flexibility is a significant challenge. This study developed a simple method for preparing ultra-long silver nanowires (ul-AgNWs), obtaining high-purity ul-AgNWs with an average length of 317.66 ± 98.60 µm, an average diameter of 78.06 ± 13.87 nm, and an aspect ratio exceeding 4000. Integrating these ul-AgNWs with a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film, a flexible transparent electrode (FTE) with Rs = 561 Ω and T = 97% was obtained. The ul-AgNWs were welded by driving the welding liquid to the intersection points through surface tension, resulting in a decrease of Rs to 61 Ω, T = 98.2%, and achieving a FTE with excellent mechanical properties. Furthermore, this FTE was applied in the preparation of OLED devices, showing a turn-on voltage of 2.7 V, and the maximum current efficiency and power efficiency reached 58.6 mA cm-2 and 64.7 lm W-1, respectively, demonstrating its significant potential in flexible optoelectronic devices. Integrating RGB and Event (RGBE) multi-domain information obtained by high-dynamic-range and temporal-resolution event cameras has been considered an effective scheme for robust object tracking. However, existing RGBE tracking methods have overlooked the unique spatio-temporal features over different domains, leading to object tracking failure and ineffeciency, especally for objects against complex backgrounds. To address this problem, we propose a novel tracker based on adaptive-time feature extraction hybrid networks, namely Siamese Event Frame Tracker (SiamEFT), which focuses on the effective representation and utilization of the diverse spatio-temporal features of RGBE. We first design an adaptive-time attention module to aggregate event data into frames based on adaptive-time weights to enhance information representation. Subsequently, the SiamEF module and cross-network fusion module combining artificial neural networks and spiking neural networks hybrid network are designed to effectively extract and fuse the spatio-temporal features of RGBE. Extensive experiments on two RGBE datasets (VisEvent and COESOT) show that the SiamEFT achieves a success rate of 0.456 and 0.574, outperforming the state-of-the-art competing methods and exhibiting a 2.3-fold enhancement in effeciency. Background: Prolonged postoperative hospital stay following gastric cancer (GC) surgery is an important risk factor affecting patients' mood and increasing complications. We aimed to develop a nomogram to predict risk factors associated with prolonged postoperative length of stay (PLOS) in patients undergoing gastric cancer resection. Methods: Data were collected from 404 patients. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) was used for variable screening, and a nomogram was designed. The nomogram performance was evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). The consistency between the predicted and actual values was evaluated via a calibration map, and the clinical application value was evaluated via decision curve analysis (DCA) and clinical impact curve analysis (CICA). Results: A total of 404 patients were included in this study. Among these patients, 287 were assigned to the training cohort, and 117 were assigned to the validation cohort. According to the PLOS quartile distance, 103 patients were defined as having prolonged PLOS. LASSO regression and logistic multivariate analysis revealed that 4 clinical characteristics, the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on postoperative day one, the NLR on postoperative day three, the preoperative prognostic nutrition index and the first time anal exhaust was performed, were associated with the PLOS and were included in the construction of the nomogram. The AUC of the nomogram prediction model was 0.990 for the training set and 0.983 for the validation set. The calibration curve indicated good correlation between the predicted results and the actual results. The Hosmer-Lemeshow test revealed that the P values for the training and validation sets were 0.444 and 0.607, respectively, indicating that the model had good goodness of fit. The decision curve analysis and clinical impact curve of this model showed good clinical practicability for both cohorts. Conclusion: We explored the risk factors for prolonged PLOS in GC patients via the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program and developed a predictive model. Phytoplankton blooms have become a global concern due to their negative impacts on public health, aquaculture, tourism, and the economic stability of coastal regions. Therefore, elucidating the shifts in phytoplankton community structure and abundance, as well as their environmental drivers, is crucial. However, existing studies often fail to capture the detailed dynamics of phytoplankton blooms and their environmental triggers due to low temporal observation resolution. In this study, high temporal resolution (daily) samples were collected over 43 days to investigate the influence of environmental factors on phytoplankton in Qinhuangdao in the summer. During the observation period, a total of 45 phytoplankton species were identified, comprising 26 Bacillariophyta species, 16 Dinophyta species, 2 Euglenophyta species, and 1 Chromophyta species. Interestingly, a lag bloom pattern of phytoplankton behind freshwater input was observed across day-to-day samples. Phytoplankton blooms typically lagged 1-3 days behind periods of decreased salinity and nutrient input, suggesting that freshwater influx provides the foundational materials and benefits for these blooms. Moreover, the phytoplankton blooms were triggered by six dominant species, i.e., Chaetoceros spp., Pseudo-nitzschia delicatissima, Skeletonema costatum, Protoperdinium spp., Leptocylindrus minimus, Pseudonitzschia pungens, and Thalassiosira spp. Consequently, the succession of phytoplankton showed a predominant genera shift in the following sequence: Nitzschia, Protoperdinium, and Prorocentrum - Skeletonema - Pseudonitzschia - Gymnodinium - Leptocylindrus. Besides that, a deterministic process dominated phytoplankton community assembly across time series, and DIP is a key factor in shifting the phytoplankton community structures in this area. In summary, our study offers high-resolution observations on the succession of phytoplankton communities and sheds light on the complex and differentiated responses of phytoplankton to environmental factors. These findings enhance our understanding of the dynamics of phytoplankton blooms and their environmental drivers, which is essential for the effective management and mitigation of their adverse impacts. Introduction: Lucerne (Medicago sativa), is a cornerstone of China's livestock industry, however, due to the backward agronomic strategies and technology, lucerne in China faces cultivation challenges that result in lower productivity and quality than global standards. Therefore, we undertook a meta-analysis to evaluate the impact of five distinct fertilization types on lucerne yield and nutritional quality in various locations in China. The fertilizer practices included manure application, combined mineral fertilizer and manure application (FM), biological fertilizer application, unbalanced application of two or more mineral fertilizer types, and balanced mineral fertilizer application. Furthermore, we investigate influential factors of yield and quality of lucerne under fertilization, including climatic variables (mean annual precipitation, mean annual temperature), initial soil properties (soil organic carbon; total nitrogen, pH), and agronomic factors (seeding rate, harvest frequency, and lucerne stand age). Methods: Our study analyzed 53 published papers to discern the most beneficial fertilizer for enhancing lucerne yield and nutritional quality. Results and discussion: The results showed that the fertilizer practices, on average, significantly improved yield by 31.72% and crude protein content by 11.29%, with FM emerging as the most effective, this is because mineral fertilizers provide available nutrients for lucerne, manure provides essential organic matter for microorganisms and improve soil properties. In addition, the fertilizer practices significantly reduced neutral and acid detergent fiber contents by 6.28% and 8.50%, respectively, while increasing ash content and relative feeding value. Furthermore, climatic variables, soil properties, and planting system factors such as sowing date and harvest frequency significantly affected yield and nutritional quality. The practical implications of our results emphasize the need for balanced and strategic fertilizer application to optimize lucerne production and highlight the potential to adjust cultivation practices according to environmental conditions. Balanced and strategic fertilizer application can simultaneously improve soil properties, enhance soil carbon sequestration, and reduce the emission of greenhouse gases from the soil, which is a vital measure for realizing sustainable agricultural development. Sjögren's Syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by dysfunction of exocrine glands. Primarily affected are the salivary glands, which exhibit the most frequent pathological changes. The pathogenesis involves susceptibility genes, non-genetic factors such as infections, immune cells-including T and B cells, macrophage, dendritic cells, and salivary gland epithelial cells. Inflammatory mediators such as autoantibodies, cytokines, and chemokines also play a critical role. Key signaling pathways activated include IFN, TLR, BAFF/BAFF-R, PI3K/Akt/mTOR, among others. Comprehensive understanding of these mechanisms is crucial for developing targeted therapeutic interventions. Background: The relationship between the intake of dietary fatty acids (FA) and bone mineral density (BMD) has been the subject of prior investigations. However, the outcomes of these studies remain contentious. The objective of this research is to examine the link between dietary FA consumption among adolescents and BMD. Methods: This study utilized high-quality data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database, spanning 2011 to 2018, to explore the association between dietary fatty acids and bone health indicators in adolescents, including BMD and bone mineral content (BMC). Analyses were performed using weighted multivariate linear regression models, incorporating detailed subgroup analysis. Results: The study included 3440 participants. Analysis demonstrated that intake of saturated fatty acids (SFA) was positively correlated with total BMD, left arm BMD, total BMC, and left arm BMC. Monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) intake was positively correlated with BMC across most body parts, though it showed no correlation with BMD. Intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) was significantly inversely correlated with both BMD and BMC in most body parts. Additionally, subgroup analysis indicated that variables such as sex, age, standing height, and race significantly influenced the correlation between FA intake and BMD. Conclusions: Our study indicates that dietary intake of SFA may benefit to BMD in adolescents, in contrast to PUFA and MUFA. Therefore, we recommend that adolescents maintain a balanced intake of SFA to promote optimal bone mass development while preserving metabolic health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is the leading cause of disability among all mental illnesses with increasing prevalence. The diagnosis of MDD is susceptible to interference by several factors, which has led to a trend of exploring objective biomarkers. Electroencephalography (EEG) is a non-invasive procedure that is being gradually applied to detect and diagnose MDD through some features such as functional connectivity (FC). Methods: In this research, we analyzed the resting-state EEG of patients with MDD and healthy controls (HCs) in both eyes-open (EO) and eyes-closed (EC) conditions. The phase locking value (PLV) method was utilized to explore the connection and synchronization of neuronal activities spatiotemporally between different brain regions. We compared the PLV between participants with MDD and HCs in five frequency bands (theta, 4-8Hz; alpha, 8-12Hz; beta1, 12-16Hz; beta2, 16-24Hz; and beta3, 24-40Hz) and further analyzed the correlation between the PLV of connections with significant differences and the severity of depression (via the scores of 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, HDRS-17). Results: During the EO period, lower PLVs were found in the right temporal-left midline occipital cortex (RT-LMOC; theta, alpha, beta1, and beta2) and posterior parietal-right temporal cortex (PP-RT; beta1 and beta2) in the MDD group compared with the HC group, while PLVs were higher in the MDD group in LT-LMOC (beta2). During the EC period, for the MDD group, lower theta and beta (beta1, beta2, and beta3) PLVs were found in PP-RT, as well as lower theta, alpha, and beta (beta1, beta2, and beta3) PLVs in RT-LMOC. Additionally, in the leftmidline frontal cortex-right temporal cortex (LMFC-RT) and posterior parietal cortex-right temporal cortex (PP-RMOC), higher PLVs were observed in beta2. There were no significant correlations between PLVs and HDRS-17 scores when connections with significantly different PLVs (all p > 0.05) were checked. Conclusion: Our study confirmed the presence of differences in FC between patients with MDD and healthy individuals. Lower PLVs in the connection of the right temporal-left occipital cortex were mostly observed, whereas an increase in PLVs was observed in patients with MDD in the connections of the left temporal with occipital lobe (EO), the circuits of the frontal-temporal lobe, and the parietal-occipital lobe. The trends in FC involved in this study were not correlated with the level of depression. Limitations: The study was limited due to the lack of further analysis of confounding factors and follow-up data. Introduction: Few minimally invasive options for sampling the small intestinal (SI) luminal fluid exist to study the SI microbiota in health and disease. To address the lack of tools and methods to study GI regions that are difficult to access, Nimble Science developed a fully autonomous and passive sampling method, the Small Intestine MicroBiome Aspiration (SIMBA™) capsule, for convenient, high-quality, and reliable sampling to study the diet-microbiota interactions in the SI. Methods: The sealing efficacy and microbial DNA preservation capacity of the SIMBA capsules was first validated through in vitro simulation assays. Then, a clinical study was conducted with 20 healthy participants to validate the in vivo use of SIMBA capsules to reliably capture samples for SI microbiome analysis before and after an intervention (NCT04489329). Briefly, participants ingested the capsules at baseline and 7 days later, with a probiotic capsule containing a blend of L. rhamnosus R0011 and B. longum R0175. Following baseline SIMBA capsule ingestion, multiple low-dosage x-ray scans were performed to track the sampling location. Fecal samples corresponding with the baseline and intervention capsule were analyzed for comparison. Results: The SIMBA capsules' performance in vitro demonstrated the potential for contamination-free sampling with preservation of the microbial communities. Within the clinical study, the capsules performed safely and reliably for collection of SI content. X-ray tracking confirmed that 97.2% of the capsules completed sample collection in the SI regions before reaching the colon. Importantly, our data showed that the capsules sampled in the right area of the intestines and that baseline SIMBA microbiome profile is significantly different from fecal microbiome profile. SIMBA successfully detected a concurrent probiotic intervention in the small intestine, which was not detectable using stool samples. Discussions: The high accuracy of sampling location and sealing efficacy of the SIMBA capsules makes them potentially useful research tools in clinical trials for studying diet-microbiota interactions in health and disease, and perhaps eventually for the clinical diagnosis of GI tract conditions affecting the SI such as SIBO. In China, the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) has undergone several variations over the decades and contributed to the diversity of the clinical epidemic PRRSV strains. This has complicated the prevention and control of PRRS. In particular, the efficacy of the currently available commercial vaccines against the highly pathogenic NADC34-like strains is unclear. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the protection efficacy of three commercial PRRS modified-live virus (MLV) vaccines derived from classical PRRS VR2332 MLV and R98 MLV against challenge with a heterologous NADC34-like PRRSV strain, JS2021NADC34, which has high pathogenicity in pigs. PRRSVand antibody-free piglets were immunized with the PRRS VR2332 MLV vaccine or either of two R98 MLV vaccines (from different manufacturers) and were challenged with the JS2021NADC34 strain 28 days after immunization. Rectal temperature, clinical symptoms, viremia and viral shedding from the nose, gross lesions in the thymus and lungs, microscopic lesions and viral distribution in the lungs, as well as the humoral immune response and mortality rates were recorded over a 14-day post-challenge period. The results showed that PRRS VR2332 MLV had better efficacy against the JS2021NADC34 challenge than PRRS R98 MLV, with vaccinated piglets in the former group showing transient and mild symptoms, mild pathological lesions in the lungs, mild thymic atrophy, and low viral levels in sera and nasal swabs, as well as better growth performance and a 100% survival rate. In contrast, two PRRS R98 MLVs exhibited limited efficacy against the JS2021NADC34 challenge, with the piglets in two R98 groups showing obvious clinical symptoms and pathological changes in the lungs and thymus; moreover, there were two deaths caused by PRRS in two R98 groups, respectively. Despite this, the mortality rate was lower than that of the unvaccinated piglets that were challenged with JS2021NADC34. The cumulative results demonstrate that PRRS VR2332 MLV was partly effective against the highly pathogenic PRRSV NADC34-like strain based on the observations over the 14-day post-challenge period. Background: In response to China’s ban on medicinal feed additives with growth-promoting functions in livestock and poultry feed, there is an urgent need in modern animal husbandry for alternatives to antibiotics to sustain livestock health and improve feed conversion efficiency. Allicin, known for its safety, efficiency, lack of drug resistance and absence of residue, regulates the intestinal flora structure; inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria; improves intestinal health, immunity and stress resistance; and improves animal production. Methods: To investigate the impact of allicin on immune performance and immune-related gene expression in Muchuan black-bone chickens, diets were supplemented with varying allicin levels (50, 100, 200 mg/kg), designated as test groups A, B and C, respectively. Initially, growth performance was assessed. Subsequently, immunoglobulins were measured via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and colorimetry; immune titers for avian influenza and Newcastle disease were evaluated using hemagglutination and hemagglutination inhibition tests and the expression of immune genes was analyzed via real-time quantitative PCR. Finally, serum biochemical indices in each group were determined. Result: Compared to the control group, allicin supplementation resulted in increased average fasting body weight in the experimental group and significantly (P<0.05) higher thymus and musogastric indices in groups A and C, respectively. Serum levels of immunoglobulin M in groups A and B and immunoglobulin G levels were significantly higher in all experimental groups than in controls. Antibody titers against avian influenza H5 and H7 strains were higher in all test groups, with Newcastle disease antibody titers in groups B and C significantly higher than those in controls. The mRNA expression levels of IFN-γ were lower across all experimental groups, whereas the expression levels of TLR3 in groups B and C and TLR15 in group B were higher. Serum levels of triglycerides in group A were significantly higher and blood urea nitrogen levels were significantly lower in groups B and C than in controls. These findings indicate that dietary allicin (50-200 mg/kg) significantly improves growth performance, immunity and protein and lipid metabolism in Muchuan black-bone chickens, offering valuable data for the development and use of allicin as an antibiotic alternative. Objective: Construct models based on grayscale ultrasound and radiomics and compare the efficacy of different models in preoperatively predicting the level of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in breast cancer. Materials and methods: This study retrospectively collected clinical data and preoperative ultrasound images from 185 breast cancer patients confirmed by surgical pathology. Patients were randomly divided into a training set (n=111) and a testing set (n=74) using a 6:4 ratio. Based on a 10% threshold for tumorinfiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) levels, patients were classified into low-level and high-level groups. Radiomic features were extracted and selected using the training set. The evaluation included assessing the relationship between TIL levels and both radiomic features and grayscale ultrasound features. Subsequently, grayscale ultrasound models, radiomic models, and nomograms combining radiomics score (Rad-score) and grayscale ultrasound features were established. The predictive performance of different models was evaluated through receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Calibration curves assessed the fit of the nomograms, and decision curve analysis (DCA) evaluated the clinical effectiveness of the models. Results: Univariate analyses and multivariate logistic regression analyses revealed that indistinct margin (P<0.001, Odds Ratio [OR]=0.214, 95% Confidence Interval [CI]: 0.103-1.026), posterior acoustic enhancement (P=0.027, OR=2.585, 95% CI: 1.116-5.987), and ipsilateral axillary lymph node enlargement (P=0.001, OR=4.214, 95% CI: 1.798-9.875) were independent predictive factors for high levels of TIL in breast cancer. In comparison to grayscale ultrasound model (Training set: Area under curve [AUC] 0.795; Testing set: AUC 0.720) and radiomics model (Training set: AUC 0.803; Testing set: AUC 0.759), the nomogram demonstrated superior discriminative ability on both the training (AUC 0.884) and testing (AUC 0.820) datasets. Calibration curves indicated high consistency between the nomogram model's predicted probability of breast cancer TIL levels and the actual occurrence probability. DCA revealed that the radiomics model and the nomogram model achieved higher clinical net benefits compared to the grayscale ultrasound model. Conclusion: The nomogram based on preoperative ultrasound radiomics features exhibits robust predictive capacity for the non-invasive evaluation of breast cancer TIL levels, potentially providing a significant basis for individualized treatment decisions in breast cancer. Iron phthalocyanine (FePc) with an ideal N-coordinated environment has been regarded as a promising catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). However, its self-aggregation and inferior stability remain to be solved for further application. Herein, poly-FePc-based hyper-crosslinked polymers with tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) modification (named pFePc-TTF) are innovatively constructed and applied as an efficient ORR catalyst for aluminum–air batteries (AABs). Thanks to the donor (TTF)–acceptor (FePc) effect, the resultant pFePc-TTF catalyst exhibits satisfactory ORR activity with a half-wave potential of 0.90 V, a four-electron transfer process, methanol tolerance, and excellent stability in alkaline electrolytes. The improved electrocatalytic performance might be ascribed to the introduction of TTF as an electron donor, which effectively modulates the electron distribution of the Fe atom and optimizes the absorption energy of intermediate species. As expected, both liquid AABs and all-solid-state flexible AABs equipped with pFePc-TTF display outstanding battery performance in comparison to those equipped with commercial Pt/C. The detection rate of ground glass nodules (GGNs) has increased in recent years because of their malignant potential but relatively indolent biological behavior; thus, correct GGN recognition and management has become a research focus. Many scholars have explored the underlying mechanism of the indolent progression of GGNs from several perspectives, such as pathological type, genomic mutational characteristics, and immune microenvironment. GGNs have different major mutated genes at different stages of development; EGFR mutation is the most common mutation in GGNs, and p53 mutation is the most abundant mutation in the invasive stage of GGNs. Pure GGNs have fewer genomic alterations and a simpler genomic profile and exhibit a gradually evolving genomic mutation profile as the pathology progresses. Compared to advanced lung adenocarcinoma, GGN lung adenocarcinoma has a higher immune cell percentage, is under immune surveillance, and has less immune escape. However, as the pathological progression and solid component increase, negative immune regulation and immune escape increase gradually, and a suppressive immune environment is established gradually. Currently, regular computer tomography monitoring and surgery are the main treatment strategies for persistent GGNs. Stereotactic body radiotherapy and radiofrequency ablation are two local therapeutic alternatives, and systemic therapy has been progressively studied for lung cancer with GGNs. In the present review, we discuss the characterization of the multidimensional molecular evolution of GGNs that could facilitate more precise differentiation of such highly heterogeneous lesions, laying a foundation for the development of more effective individualized treatment plans. Breast cancer has a high incidence and a heightened propensity for metastasis. The absence of precise targets for effective intervention makes it imperative to devise enhanced treatment strategies. Exosomes, characterized by a lipid bilayer and ranging in size from 30 to 150 nm, can be actively released by various cells, including those in tumors. Exosomes derived from distinct subsets of immune cells have been shown to modulate the immune microenvironment within tumors and influence breast cancer progression. In addition, tumor-derived exosomes have been shown to contribute to breast cancer development and progression and may become a new target for breast cancer immunotherapy. Tumor immunotherapy has become an option for managing tumors, and exosomes have become therapeutic vectors that can be used for various pathological conditions. Edited exosomes can be used as nanoscale drug delivery systems for breast cancer therapy, contributing to the remodeling of immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments and influencing the efficacy of immunotherapy. This review discusses the regulatory role of exosomes from different cells in breast cancer and the latest applications of exosomes as nanoscale drug delivery systems and immunotherapeutic agents in breast cancer, showing the development prospects of exosomes in the clinical treatment of breast cancer. As a social-interactional positive behavior, the flow of compassion (i.e., selfcompassion, compassion for others, and compassion from others), which refers to sensitivity to suffering in self and others with a commitment to try to alleviate and prevent it, has yet to be investigated in a highly social-interactional context such as foreign language learning classrooms. Thus, the present study adopted an ecological perspective within Bronfenbrenner's (1979, 1993) analytic nested ecosystems model to explore how the flow of compassion is rooted in such a context. Sixteen Iranian English as a foreign language learners took part in the current study, and data were collected through semistructured interviews. Employing the framework of the nested ecosystems model, we identified both influential individual and environmental factors underlying the flow of compassion among the participants. The flow of compassion proved to be influenced differently at different ecosystemic levels by individual and environmental factors. At the individual level, negative and positive emotions, fears, non-judgmental attitudes, intimacy, well-being, improvement, motivation, and action were found as influential factors in emerging the flow of compassion. At the contextual level, the identified influential factors included past experiences outside of the classroom, extracurricular activities, institution policy and criteria, cultural and social values, as well as the use of technology and the internet. Introduction: In patients with pulmonary nodules (PNs), computed tomography (CT)-guided localization is commonly performed prior to the resection of these nodules through video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Aim: To evaluate the relative clinical efficacy of coil and anchored needle (AN) insertion as approaches to preoperative CT-guided PN localization. Material and methods: This single-center, prospective, open-label, randomized controlled trial (registration number: NCT05183945) enrolled consecutive patients from January 2022 to July 2022, assigning these patients at random to undergo either coil or AN localization prior to VATS. Efficacy and safety outcomes in these two groups were then compared. Results: This study enrolled in total 100 patients with 120 PNs who were assigned at random to the coil (patients = 50; PNs = 60) and AN (patients = 50; PNs = 60) localization groups. The respective technical success rates for coil and AN localization were 98.3% (59/60) and 100% (60/60), with no significant difference between the groups (p = 1.000). The coil group had a significantly longer median duration of localization relative to the AN group (16.0 min vs. 8.0 min, p < 0.001). Similar rates of localization-related pneumothorax (8.3% vs. 5.0%, p = 0.715) and pulmonary hemorrhage (5.0% vs. 13.3%, p = 0.110) were observed in both groups. In addition, the VATS resection procedures achieved 100% technical success rates in both of these localization groups. Conclusions: Both coil- and AN-based localization approaches can be successfully employed to localize PNs prior to VATS resection, with the AN localization procedure requiring less time to complete on average as compared to the coil-based approach. BACKGROUND: Cadmium (Cd) is a highly toxic and widespread environmental oxidative stressor that causes a myriad of health problems, including osteoporosis and bone damage. Although nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) and its Cap ‘n’ Collar and basic region Leucine Zipper (CNC-bZIP) family member nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 1 (NRF1) coordinate various stress responses by regulating the transcription of a variety of antioxidant and cytoprotective genes, they play distinct roles in bone metabolism and remodeling. However, the precise roles of both transcription factors in bone loss induced by prolonged Cd exposure remain unclear. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying Cd-induced bone loss, focusing mainly on the roles of NRF2 and NRF1 in osteoclastogenesis provoked by Cd. METHODS: Male wild-type (WT), global Nrf2-knockout (Nrf2-/-) and myeloid-specific Nrf2 knockout [Nrf2(M)-KO] mice were administered Cd (50 or 100 ppm) via drinking water for 8 or 16 wk, followed by micro-computed tomography, histological analyses, and plasma biochemical testing. Osteoclastogenesis was evaluated using bone marrow-derived osteoclast progenitor cells (BM-OPCs) and RAW 264.7 cells in the presence of Cd (10 or 20 nM) with a combination of genetic and chemical modulations targeting NRF2 and NRF1. RESULTS: Compared with relevant control mice, global Nrf2-/- or Nrf2(M)-KO mice showed exacerbated bone loss and augmented osteoclast activity following exposure to 100 ppm Cd in drinking water for up to 16 wk. In vitro osteoclastogenic analyses suggested that Nrf2-deficient BM-OPCs and RAW 264.7 cells responded more robustly to low levels of Cd (up to 20 nM) with regard to osteoclast differentiation compared with WT cells. Further mechanistic studies supported a compensatory up-regulation of long isoform of NRF1 (L-NRF1) and subsequent induction of nuclear factor of activated T cells, cytoplasmic, calcineurin dependent 1 (NFATc1) as the key molecular events in the Nrf2 deficiency-worsened and Cd-provoked osteoclastogenesis. L-Nrf1 silenced (via lentiviral means) Nrf2-knockdown (KD) RAW cells exposed to Cd showed dramatically different NFATc1 and subsequent osteoclastogenesis outcomes compared with the cells of Nrf2-KD alone exposed to Cd, suggesting a mitigating effect of the Nrf1 silencing. In addition, suppression of reactive oxygen species by exogenous antioxidants N-acetyl-L-cysteine (2 mM) and mitoquinone mesylate (MitoQ; 0.2 μM) mitigated the L-NRF1-associated effects on NFATc1-driven osteoclastogenesis outcomes in Cd-exposed Nrf2-KD cells. CONCLUSIONS: This in vivo and in vitro study supported the authors’ hypothesis that Cd exposure caused bone loss, in which NRF2 and L-NRF1 responded to Cd and osteoclastogenic stimuli in a cooperative, but contradictive, manner to coordinate Nfatc1 expression, osteoclastogenesis and thus bone homeostasis. Background: Previous studies have identified several genetic and environmental risk factors for chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, little is known about the relationship between serum metals and CKD risk. Methods: We investigated associations between serum metals levels and CKD risk among 100 medical examiners and 443 CKD patients in the medical center of the First Hospital Affiliated to China Medical University. Serum metal concentrations were measured using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). We analyzed factors influencing CKD, including abnormalities in Creatine and Cystatin C, using univariate and multiple analysis such as Lasso and Logistic regression. Metal levels among CKD patients at different stages were also explored. The study utilized machine learning and Bayesian Kernel Machine Regression (BKMR) to assess associations and predict CKD risk based on serum metals. A chained mediation model was applied to investigate how interventions with different heavy metals influence renal function indicators (creatinine and cystatin C) and their impact on diagnosing and treating renal impairment. Results: Serum potassium (K), sodium (Na), and calcium (Ca) showed positive trends with CKD, while selenium (Se) and molybdenum (Mo) showed negative trends. Metal mixtures had a significant negative effect on CKD when concentrations were all from 30th to 45th percentiles compared to the median, but the opposite was observed for the 55th to 60th percentiles. For example, a change in serum K concentration from the 25th to the 75th percentile was associated with a significant increase in CKD risk of 5.15(1.77,8.53), 13.62 (8.91,18.33) and 31.81(14.03,49.58) when other metals were fixed at the 25th, 50th and 75th percentiles, respectively. Conclusions: Cumulative metal exposures, especially double-exposure to serum K and Se may impact CKD risk. Machine learning methods validated the external relevance of the metal factors. Objective: Although extensive structural and functional abnormalities have been reported in schizophrenia, the gray matter volume (GMV) covariance of the amygdala remain unknown. The amygdala contains several subregions with different connection patterns and functions, but it is unclear whether the GMV covariance of these subregions are selectively affected in schizophrenia. Methods: To address this issue, we compared the GMV covariance of each amygdala subregion between 807 schizophrenia patients and 845 healthy controls from 11 centers. The amygdala was segmented into nine subregions using FreeSurfer (v7.1.1), including the lateral (La), basal (Ba), accessory-basal (AB), anterior-amygdaloid-area (AAA), central (Ce), medial (Me), cortical (Co), corticoamygdaloid-transition (CAT), and paralaminar (PL) nucleus. We developed an operational combat harmonization model for 11 centers, subsequently employing a voxel-wise general linear model to investigate the differences in GMV covariance between schizophrenia patients and healthy controls across these subregions and the entire brain, while adjusting for age, sex and TIV. Results: Our findings revealed that five amygdala subregions of schizophrenia patients, including bilateral AAA, CAT, and right Ba, demonstrated significantly increased GMV covariance with the hippocampus, striatum, orbitofrontal cortex, and so on (permutation test, P< 0.05, corrected). These findings could be replicated in most centers. Rigorous correlation analysis failed to identify relationships between the altered GMV covariance with positive and negative symptom scale, duration of illness, and antipsychotic medication measure. Conclusion: Our research is the first to discover selectively impaired GMV covariance patterns of amygdala subregion in a large multicenter sample size of patients with schizophrenia. This article discusses the development and application of a multiplex real-time PCR assay for the detection of porcine circovirus (PCV) types 2, 3, and 4 in Guangdong province, China. The assay was found to be accurate and reliable, with a high detection limit and no cross-reaction with other porcine viral pathogens. The researchers also conducted an epidemiological investigation and obtained complete genome sequences of PCV2 and PCV3 strains. The study found high infection rates of PCV2 and PCV3 in swine farms in Guangdong Province, with PCV2d identified as the main prevalent genotype. The findings contribute to understanding the epidemiology and genetic variation of PCVs in the region. Background: Skin color is an important economic trait in black-bone chicken production and it has been identified that the gut microbiota is an important factor in animal health and physiology. However, it is unknown about whether the gut microbiota in black-bone chickens is connected to the coloration of chicken skin. Methods: To investigate the relationship between the gut microbiota and skin coloration, comparing the differentiation of the gut microbiota structure and abundances in black- (B group) and white-skinned (W group) Muchuan black-bone chicken. Here, we characterized the microbiota in the jejunal contents of both the B and W groups using the Illumina MiSeq platform, targeting the genomic V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene. Result: In terms of community richness, the ACE community richness index of the B group was significantly higher than that of the W group (p<0.05) and the proportion of unique OTUs was higher in group B than in group W. According to the species annotation and abundance information of all samples at the genus level, Parabacteroides, Faecalicoccus and Alistipes were enriched in group B, whereas Actinomyces, Elstera and Nosocomiicoccus were enriched in group W. In the evolutionary branch diagram, the relative abundances of Enterobacteriaceae (Gammaproteobacteria, Enterobacteriales) were significantly higher in group B than in group W (LDA Score>4). Our data provide a basis for the hypothesis that the discriminating bacterial taxa in gut is associated with the feature variants for skin coloration of Muchuan black-bone chickens, which were fed in the same feed and stocking niches. Diatomites, or natural soils containing diatoms are found in the marine environment all over the world. Diatomites tend to have skeleton microstructures, resulting in unique rheological behaviors. In marine areas, the rheological behavior of diatomite significantly contributes to geohazards, especially submarine landslides. Predicting and preventing submarine landslides require a profound understanding of the rheological characteristics of diatomites. Therefore, to assess the rheological characteristics of diatomite with different diatom and water contents, we prepared different diatom-kaolin mixtures (diatom contents ranging from 0 to 100% and water contents from 66.8% to 640 %) and subjected them to rheological shearing tests. The Herschel-Bulkley model and the Cheng's model were used to analyze the critical rheological parameters (i.e., dynamic and static yield stresses) and the flow behaviors of the samples. The results show that kaolin mixed with 20% diatoms exhibits the highest value in yield stress. Also, the addition of diatoms alters the microstructure of kaolin which may lead to static yield at low water content and shear thickening at high water content. This study offers valuable references regarding critical rheological parameters and flow regimes for simulating submarine landslides in regions covered by natural sediments containing diatoms. The emergence of resistance to prostate cancer (PCa) treatment, particularly to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), has posed a significant challenge in the field of PCa management. Among the therapeutic options for PCa, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy are commonly used modalities. However, these therapeutic approaches, while inducing apoptosis in tumor cells, may also trigger stress-induced premature senescence (SIPS). Cellular senescence, an entropy-driven transition from an ordered to a disordered state, ultimately leading to cell growth arrest, exhibits a dual role in PCa treatment. On one hand, senescent tumor cells may withdraw from the cell cycle, thereby reducing tumor growth rate and exerting a positive effect on treatment. On the other hand, senescent tumor cells may secrete a plethora of cytokines, growth factors and proteases that can affect neighboring tumor cells, thereby exerting a negative impact on treatment. This review explores how radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy trigger SIPS and the nuanced impact of senescent tumor cells on PCa treatment. Electrochemical carbon dioxide/carbon monoxide reduction reaction offers a promising route to synthesize fuels and value-added chemicals, unfortunately their activities and selectivities remain unsatisfactory. Here, we present a general surface molecular tuning strategy by modifying Cu2O with a molecular pyridine-derivative. The surface modified Cu2O nanocubes by 4-mercaptopyridine display a high Faradaic efficiency of greater than 60% in electrochemical carbon monoxide reduction reaction to acetate with a current density as large as 380 mA/cm2 in a liquid electrolyte flow cell. In-situ attenuated total reflectance surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy reveals stronger *CO signal with bridge configuration and stronger *OCCHO signal over modified Cu2O nanocubes by 4-mercaptopyridine than unmodified Cu2O nanocubes during electrochemical CO reduction. Density function theory calculations disclose that local molecular tuning can effectively regulate the electronic structure of copper catalyst, enhancing *CO and *CHO intermediates adsorption by the stabilization effect through hydrogen bonding, which can greatly promote asymmetric *CO-*CHO coupling in electrochemical carbon monoxide reduction reaction. Objective: Gastroblastoma is an extremely rare gastric tumor. Its pathogenesis remains unclear and there is a lack of specific clinical symptoms. The aim of this paper is to report a case of gastroblastoma and provide references for the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of this disease. Methods: The diagnosis and treatment of a 51-year-old female patient with gastroblastoma were retrospectively reported. Analyzing this case by combining the clinical data such as imaging and pathological results of patients with the relevant literature. Results: The patient's chief complaint was the presence of melena persisted for over two weeks. Abdominal contrast-enhanced CT showed gastric antral nodules, and micro-probe endoscopic ultrasonography was considered as "gastric antral protruding lesions". The initial diagnosis of "gastric stromal tumor" was made after admission, and surgical treatment was performed on September 23, 2021. Postoperative pathology showed that gastric mixed epithelial and stromal tumor, combined with immunohistochemical staining, was suggestive of gastroblastoma. No signs of tumor recurrence or metastasis were observed during the 2-year follow-up. Conclusion: Combined with the existing literature reports, the incidence of gastroblastoma is mainly higher in young men, and the predilection site is gastric antrum. The biological behavior of the tumor tends to be indolent, and the prognosis of most cases is favorable. However, due to the extremely small number of cases, this conclusion still needs a large number of cases and followup data to support. This study focuses on investigating the metabolism-related gene profile and prognosis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) patients. The research data from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, including GSE40435, GSE53757, and GSE53000, were used to analyze the consistently differentially expressed RNAs (cDERs) by the MetaDE limma package. Gene expression profiling associated with metabolism was downloaded from the GSEA database. The cancer genome atlas (TCGA) dataset of ccRCC (the training set) and RNA sequencing data of E-MTAB-3267 from EBI ArrayExpress database (the validation set) were obtained to construct a prognostic model. A series of bioinformatics analysis, including functional enrichment analysis, Cox regression analysis, and constructing a prognostic score (PS) model, was performed. Further in vitro experiments including cell proliferation assay and flow cytometry were performed to validate our results. We constructed a metabolism-related prognostic model based on 27 DElncRNAs and 126 DEGs. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis revealed that 19 GO terms and 9 KEGG signaling pathways were significantly associated with lipid metabolic pathways. Furthermore, we generated a nomogram illustrating the association between the identified DERs and the tumor recurrence risk in ccRCC. The results from experimental validation showed that lncRNA SNHG20 was significantly upregulated in tumor tissues compared with adjacent tissues. Knockdown of SNHG20 suppressed the proliferation and induced cell cycle G0/G1 arrest, and apoptosis in ccRCC cells. Mosquito-borne flaviviruses such as dengue (DENV) and Zika (ZIKV) cause hundreds of millions of infections annually. The single-stranded RNA genome of flaviviruses is translated into a polyprotein, which is cleaved equally into individual functional proteins. While structural proteins are packaged into progeny virions and released, most of the nonstructural proteins remain intracellular and could become cytotoxic if accumulated over time. However, the mechanism by which nonstructural proteins are maintained at the levels optimal for cellular fitness and viral replication remains unknown. Here, we identified that the ubiquitin E3 ligase HRD1 is essential for flaviviruses infections in both mammalian hosts and mosquitoes. HRD1 directly interacts with flavivirus NS4A and ubiquitylates a conserved lysine residue for ER-associated degradation. This mechanism avoids excessive accumulation of NS4A, which otherwise interrupts the expression of processed flavivirus proteins in the ER. Furthermore, a small-molecule inhibitor of HRD1 named LS-102 effectively interrupts DENV2 infection in both mice and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, and significantly disturbs DENV transmission from the infected hosts to mosquitoes owing to reduced viremia. Taken together, this study demonstrates that flaviviruses have evolved a sophisticated mechanism to exploit the ubiquitination system to balance the homeostasis of viral proteins for their own advantage and provides a potential therapeutic target to interrupt flavivirus infection and transmission. Objective: Recent studies have revealed increasing evidence that the long noncoding RNA bladder cancer associated transcript 1 (LncRNA BLACAT1) plays an essential role in the emergence of different malignancies. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of LncRNA BLACAT1 in various cancers. Methods: Six electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, Medline, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and the Chinese WanFang database) were comprehensively searched for relevant studies. The analysis of overall survival (OS) and clinicopathological characteristics was conducted. Results: Nineteen studies with 1,559 patients were eventually eligible to be included in this meta-analysis. High expression level of LncRNA BLACAT1 was identified to be linked with shorter OS (HR: 2.02, 95% CI: 1.66-2.46, p < 0.001) and PFS (HR: 2.424, 95% CI: 1.827-3.020, p < 0.001) in cancer patients as opposed to low expression levels. Subgroup analysis showed that analysis model (multivariate or univariate), cut-off value (mean or median), sample size (more or fewer than 100), and cancer type had little effect on OS in multiple tumors. Moreover, high LncRNA BLACAT1 expression was associated with positive lymph node metastasis (HR: 2.29, 95% CI: 1.66-3.16, p < 0.00001), advanced clinical stage (HR: 2.29, 95% CI: 1.65-3.19, p < 0.00001) and worse differentiation status (HR: 0.58, 95% CI: 0.37-0.92, p = 0.02), compared to low LncRNA BLACAT1 expression. In order to avoid the risk of high temperature in the key components of Mini‐LED LCM (Liquid crystal display Module), this paper studied the influencing factors of the temperature of Mini‐LED LCM, and provided the optimal design scheme of the LCM from the perspective of heat dissipation. Firstly, the thermal simulation model of 32‐inch Mini‐LED LCM was established, and the maximum temperature and temperature distribution of each component of the LCM were calculated. Then, the accuracy of the simulation model was verified by the temperature test results of 32‐inch Mini‐LED LCM physical prototype, and the error between simulation and measured temperature is less than 3℃. Furtherly, the temperature difference of LCM with different design schemes were compared by simulation, and the key influencing factors of LCM temperature and their influencing laws were analyzed. The simulation results have shown that LED type, LED power, LED number, LED board/bar material, back cover material and thickness are the key factors of LCM temperature. Finally, according to the influence laws of key factors, the optimal heat dissipation scheme of 27‐inch Mini‐LED LCM was designed. Viral encephalitis continues to be a significant public health concern. In our previous study, we discovered a lower expression of antiviral factors, such as IFN-β, STING and IFI16, in the brain tissues of patients with Rasmussen's encephalitis (RE), a rare chronic neurological disorder often occurred in children, characterized by unihemispheric brain atrophy. Furthermore, a higher cumulative viral score of human herpes viruses (HHVs) was also found to have a significant positive correlation with the unihemispheric atrophy in RE. Type I IFNs (IFN-I) signaling is essential for innate anti-infection response by binding to IFN-α/β receptor (IFNAR). In this study, we infected WT mice and IFNAR-deficient A6 mice with herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) via periocular injection to investigate the relationship between IFN-I signaling and HHVs-induced brain lesions. While all mice exhibited typical viral encephalitis lesions in their brains, HSV-induced epilepsy was only observed in A6 mice. The gene expression matrix, functional enrichment analysis and protein-protein interaction network revealed four gene models that were positively related with HSV-induced epilepsy. Additionally, ten key genes with the highest scores were identified. Taken together, these findings indicate that intact IFN-I signaling can effectively limit HHVs induced neural symptoms and brain lesions, thereby confirming the positive correlation between IFN-I signaling repression and brain atrophy in RE and other HHVs encephalitis. Background: Non-scarring alopecia is typically represented by two main types: alopecia areata (AA) and androgenetic alopecia (AGA). While previous observational studies have indicated a link between non-scarring alopecia and hypothyroidism, the precise causal relationship remains uncertain. To determine the potential links between non-scarring alopecia and hypothyroidism, we conducted a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. Methods: We used independent genetic instruments from the FinnGen consortium for AA (682 cases, 361,140 controls) and AGA (195 cases, 201,019 controls) to investigate the association with hypothyroidism in the UK Biobank study (22,687 cases, 440,246 controls). The primary analysis was performed using the inverse variance-weighted method. Complementary approaches were employed to evaluate the pleiotropy and heterogeneity. Results: Genetically predicted AA exhibited a positive causal effect on hypothyroidism (odds ratio [OR], 1.0017; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.0004-1.0029; P = 0.0101). Additionally, hypothyroidism was found to be strongly correlated with an increase in the risk of AA (OR, 45.6839; 95% CI, 1.8446-1131.4271, P = 0.0196). However, no causal relationship was demonstrated between AGA and hypothyroidism. A sensitivity analysis validated the integrity of these causal relationships. Conclusion: This MR study supports a bidirectional causal link between AA and hypothyroidism. Nevertheless, additional research is needed to gain a more thorough comprehension of the causal relationship between non-scarring alopecia and hypothyroidism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article explores the role of immune dysfunction in acute pancreatitis, a common inflammatory gastrointestinal disease. It discusses the association between immune system activation and the severity and prognosis of the disease. Factors contributing to immune dysfunction, such as intestinal permeability and toll-like receptors, are examined. The article also discusses the potential relationship between acute pancreatitis and sepsis, with a study suggesting that memory CD8+ T cells may play a role in the progression between the two conditions. While there are currently no effective immunotherapeutic agents for treating acute pancreatitis, further research on immune dysfunction may lead to new treatment options. Weeding is a key link in agricultural production. Intelligent mechanical weeding is recognized as environmentally friendly, and it profoundly alleviates labor intensity compared with manual hand weeding. While intelligent mechanical weeding can be implemented only when a large number of disciplines are intersected and integrated. This article reviewed two important aspects of intelligent mechanical weeding. The first one was detection technology for crops and weeds. The contact sensors, non-contact sensors and machine vision play pivotal roles in supporting crop detection, which are used for guiding the movements of mechanical weeding executive parts. The second one was mechanical weeding executive part, which include hoes, spring teeth, fingers, brushes, swing and rotational executive parts, these parts were created to adapt to different soil conditions and crop agronomy. It is a fact that intelligent mechanical weeding is not widely applied yet, this review also analyzed the related reasons. We found that compared with the biochemical sprayer, intelligent mechanical weeding has two inevitable limitations: The higher technology cost and lower working efficiency.
