The paper addresses the digital curation of immersive and virtual spaces for the cultural heritage sector. One of the research objectives is to define a methodological and operational workflow for developing a virtual environment designed using a social virtual environment. The use of social worlds in virtual reality (VR) is one of the possible entry points to the metaverse, understood as a way of experiencing digital reality. The possibility of creating a digital space that replicates real space offers not only the opportunity for people to gather in a virtual place but also allows designers to provide a parallel and augmented experience in terms of content.The case study aims to create the digital twin of the temporary Phygital Exhibition, which opened in July 2022 at the Sordevolo Passion Museum in the Church of Santa Marta. Unlike the permanent collection, which recounts the tradition of popular theatre in Sordevolo for the performance of the Passion of Christ, the Phygital Exhibition focuses on documenting the activity related to the design and construction of the scenography. In the virtual environment, the physical space is replicated with a low level of detail to emphasize the VR exhibition, composed of a series of panels with the possibility to interact with historical documentation, drawings, and pictures. The paper presents a practical approach to define a hypothetical virtual reconstruction of the ciborium and pergola of Monte Sorbo's Church. The high accuracy of archaeological fragments, digitally acquired, allowed to hypothesize the entire sequences of decorations of architectural elements and to define their geometrical rules. Starting from the acquisition to the 3d modelling phase, the proposed virtual reconstruction combines original fragments with their lost parts modelled in a digital environment.Digital technologies offer nowadays the great possibility to visualize and understand cultural heritage in a new and attractive way. Digital models and virtual reconstructions have a key role in encouraging and promoting the development of good practices for recording, documenting, and making accessible scientific processes beyond visual appearance. The term virtual reconstruction, within the project, is used to describe a procedure that consists of making a 3D model that reproduces a digital copy of the original, assembling digitally acquired fragments with elements philologically reconstructed following the evidence-based geometrical rules. This study aims to contribute to this growing area of research by exploring possibilities on digital integration of different 3d models to re-define a visual appearance of lost architectural elements. The paper describes part of the conceptual structure produced within the still ongoing project B.A.C.K. TO T.H.E. F.U.T.U.RE. (BIM Acquisition as Cultural Key TO Transfer Heritage of ancient Egypt For many Uses To many Users REplayed). The aim of the project was to use a semantic web infrastructure to describe archival research and tracking informations related to a hidden museum collection expedition models of Egyptian architecture partially stored in the depots of the Museo Egizio of Turin. The outcome will be an interactive web-presentation portal of high-resolution 3D models enriched by historical and archival set of content, from the digitization procedure applied to collection objects, to the digitization process of related data and information. The development of the collection documentation of the project illustrates how is crucial to declare the semantic description underlying narrative contents. Data about single collection objects were conceptually modelled using generalizable formulas already known by CIDOC-CRM community. The description of provenance of knowledge related to the historical investigation process was modelled using CRMinf extension, exploring the possibility of making beliefs based on the available documentation and validating the results of the assumptions made during the research. Purpose: The rate of clinical progression of cognitive impairment in subjects with early amyloid deposition is unknown. The primary aim of the study was to follow the rate of cognitive decline over 1 year in patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) by determining amyloid retention levels in terms of standardized uptake value ratios (SUVr) that ranged from 0.85 to 1.57. The secondary objective was to compare the rate of cognitive decline between subjects with and without early amyloid positivity. Methods: Of 66 aMCI subjects evaluated with [18F]florbetaben PET imaging and neuropsychological tests at baseline, 41 completed the 1-year follow-up. Amyloid status was determined with SUVr cut-off values generated from baseline images by visual assessment by three independent certified readers. Repeated-measures ANOVA with amyloid load and neuropsychological scores as the main effects was use to test group, time and group-by-time interactions. The Tukey post-hoc test was used to analyse all significant interactions. Results: Of the 41 aMCI subjects, 38 completed the assessment according to the study protocol. Amyloid-positive (Aβ+) subjects (N = 18, age 75.6 ± 5.8 years, six men, 12 women) showed greater clinical deterioration according to the Mattis Dementia Rating Scale (MDRS) score (p = 0.006). Amyloid-negative (Aβ−) subjects (N = 20, age 72.4 ± 5.8 years, 11 men, 6 women) showed no significant changes in MDRS score over 1 year. MDRS score significantly decreased (MDRS+) in 37% of the aMCI subjects, and remained stable (MDRS−) in the remaining 63%. Among subjects with cognitive deterioration, 86% were Aβ+ and 14% were Aβ−, while 25% of the MDRS− subjects were Aβ+ and 75% were Aβ− (χ2 = 13, P = 0.0003). SUVr above 1.21 identified individuals who would show significant progression over 1 year, with a sensitivity of 67% and a specificity of 90%, as compared to Aβ− subjects. The positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and likelihood ratio were 86% (95% CI 70–94%), 75% (95% CI 58–87%), 7 (95% CI 5–10). Conclusion: This study demonstrated that early amyloid deposition predicts cognitive decline in subjects with aMCI, with a higher rate of decline in those with SUVr above a threshold of 1.21. Detection of early amyloid positivity may help in selecting the target population for preventive therapeutic interventions and in designing treatment trials (Trial number, EudraCT 2015-001184-39). The Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the Architectural Heritage field is constantly proving to be a fertile ground for the experimentation of innovative systems for the enhancement and management of cultural heritage. Regarding to the management of the entire process, the building field is increasing in efficiency from the construction to the management phase; conversely, the approach to historical buildings opens up interesting and heterogeneous scenarios, according to different levels of complexity. The presented work is the result of a collaboration between the Politecnico di Torino and the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura of Granada: the main scope was to create an historic building information model (H-BIM) of the building that today hosts the Faculty of Architecture (ETSAG), taking into account its historical past from the sixteenth century up to the present day, as the result of many modifications, extensions and different use classifications over time. According to this, the BIM methodology can be considered as a bridge between the archive documentation and the digital model, proving to be an effective tool as a data repository, semantically oriented, not only constituted by geometry, but also by alpha-numerical attributes, improving in effectiveness if it is directly related to formal language object oriented. The relationship between cultural heritage, digital technologies and visual models involves an increasingly wide area of research, oriented towards the renewal of archives and museums for the preservation and promotion of culture. Recent research activities are the result of the progressive strengthening of digital technologies and the needs of a new generation of "digital" users, which requires museums to update their means of communication using Semantic Web languages and technologies shaped by a social conceptualization of a graph-based representation of information.The growth of several digitized heritage collections increases the necessity of proper methodologies to develop a structured system able to access to these collections and the large amount of data, metadata and paradata related to the digitized objects in a structured and organized way, defining a set of collection information models (CIM), that considers not only the digitizing process but also the data collection process, layered by an Upper Ontology level structure, based on CIDOC-CRM. The significance of anterior ST segment depression in inferior acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains controversial. The aim of this study was to relate precordial ST segment depression to the topography of residual myocardial ischaemia, with myocardial mapping of the asynergic area and coronary anatomy. Twenty-five patients with first inferior AMI (15 patients with anterior ST segment depression: group A and 10 patients without anterior ST segment shift: group B), all underwent: (1) electrocardiographic evaluation on admission to the Coronary Care Unit and at 24 h intervals thereafter; (2) 2D-echocardiographic study within 3 h of CCU admission: (3) dipyridamole echocardiographic test (DET) (doses of dipyridamole up to 0.84 mg.kg i.v. over 10 min) 4 days after AMI; (4) coronary arteriography within 14 days from AMI. To assess regional left ventricular wall motion, a 16 segment model was used and a wall motion score index (WMSI) was derived. The results of DET were correlated to the anatomy of the infarct-related vessel. Compared to group B, group A patients showed a significantly greater maximal ST segment elevation in inferior limb leads (lead III: 3.9±1.9 mm vs 2.2±1.1 mm, <0.05; aVF: 3.5±13 mm vs 1.7±0.8 mm, <0.001). Group A patients showed greater WMSI (1.35±0.22 vs 117±0.12, <0.05), with more frequent postero-lateral wall involvement (72% vs 20%, <0.05). No patient of either group showed asynergy of the anterior, anterolateral or anteroseptal segments. No differences in the distribution of coronary artery disease were observed. Left anterior descending coronary artery disease was present in only three patients (20%) in group A and in one patient in group B. DET was positive in eight patients (53%) in group A and in three (30%) in group B ( = statistically not significant). In all patients DET induced new wall motion abnormalities located in the territory of the infarct-related artery. None of the patients developed new wall motion abnormalities remote from the infarct zone or adjacent to the infarct zone, but located in different vascular regions. In conclusion, anterior ST segment depression in inferior A MI appears to indicate a more extensive area of asynergy, with frequent involvement of the posterolateral wall. We compared two models of assistance (telecardiology versus usual care) for patients discharged after acute coronary syndrome (ACS), in the assessment of angina. Two hundred patients were randomized into two groups at discharge for ACS: Group A to telecardiology and Group B to usual care. Early hospital readmission (in the first month) occurred in 16 patients (seven in Group A and nine in Group B). Six of Group A were readmitted for a cardiac cause (non-cardiac in one). Angina was the only cardiac cause. Five of the Group B patients were readmitted for a cardiac cause (non-cardiac in four). The results of the present study emphasize that patients with ACS suffer from a definite rate of cardiac symptoms within the first month (63%). Angina occurs more frequently within the first two weeks (68% of cases). Telecardiology slightly reduces hospital readmissions (telecardiology 44% versus usual care 56%), but better identifies true angina. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
