3. Association between Bisphenol A and Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) among U.S. Older Males: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 2003–2012.

- Abstract
Background: There is growing evidence indicating that environmental endocrine disruptors may influence the development of prostate cancer. Despite this, the connection between BPA and PSA levels is still not fully understood and appears intricate. In this study, we aimed to assess the link between BPA exposure and PSA levels using data from the NHANES database. Methods: We conducted a weighted linear regression, logistic regression analysis, natural cubic spline (NCS), subgroup analysis, and interaction analysis on 2768 participants. Urinary BPA was considered the independent variable, while PSA was the dependent variable. Results: In the study, the average age of the participants selected was 62.70 years (±12.93). Age was negatively correlated with BPA, while PSA and BMI were positively correlated with BPA concentration (all of the p-value < 0.05). In the fully adjusted model, the weighted linear and logistic regression results showed that BPA was positively correlated with PSA and prostate cancer. NCS analysis results show that BPA and PSA have a non-linear relationship. Sensitivity and subgroup analyses showed similar results. In addition, there were interactions between BPA and age, PIR, education, HbA1c, high-density lipoprotein, smoking status, and Diabetes. Conclusions: There was a positive correlation between urinary BPA and PSA in older American males, especially when the BPA concentration was higher than 4.46 ng/mL. In future practical applications of prostate cancer screening, it is crucial to focus on individuals aged 75 years and older, as well as those with a PIR between 0 and 1, non-Hispanic black, and other risk groups to provide reference values for the primary and secondary prevention of prostate cancer. Ultrafast laser processing technology has offered a wide range of opportunities in micro/nano fabrication and other fields such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, energy science, and photonics due to its controllable processing precision, diverse processing capabilities, and broad material adaptability. The processing abilities and applications of the ultrafast laser still need more exploration. In the field of material processing, controlling the atomic scale structure in nanomaterials is challenging. Complex effects exist in ultrafast laser surface/interface processing, making it difficult to modulate the nanostructure and properties of the surface/interface as required. In the ultrafast laser fabrication of micro functional devices, the processing ability needs to be improved. Here, we review the research progress of ultrafast laser micro/nano fabrication in the areas of material processing, surface/interface controlling, and micro functional devices fabrication. Several useful ultrafast laser processing methods and applications in these areas are introduced. The management of hypertrophic scars (HSs), characterized by excessive collagen production, involves various nonsurgical and surgical interventions. However, the absence of a well‐defined molecular mechanism governing hypertrophic scarring has led to less‐than‐ideal results in clinical antifibrotic treatments. Therefore, our study focused on the role of decorin (DCN) and its regulatory role in the TGF‐β/Smad signalling pathway in the development of HSs. In our research, we observed a decrease in DCN expression within hypertrophic scar tissue and its derived cells (HSFc) compared to that in normal tissue. Then, the inhibitory effect of DCN on collagen synthesis was confirmed in Fc and HSFc via the detection of fibrosis markers such as COL‐1 and COL‐3 after the overexpression and knockdown of DCN. Moreover, functional assessments revealed that DCN suppresses the proliferation, migration and invasion of HSFc. We discovered that DCN significantly inhibits the TGF‐β1/Smad3 pathway by suppressing TGF‐β1 expression, as well as the formation and phosphorylation of Smad3. This finding suggested that DCN regulates the synthesis of collagen‐based extracellular matrix and fibrosis through the TGF‐β1/Smad3 pathway. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Ammonia is a vital component in the fertilizer and chemical industries, as well as serving as a significant carrier of renewable hydrogen energy. Compared with the industry’s principal technique, the Haber-Bosch method, for ammonia synthesis, electro/photocatalytic ammonia synthesis is increasingly recognized as a viable and ecofriendly alternative. This method enables distributed small-scale deployment and can be powered by sustainable renewable energy sources. However, the efficiency of electro/photocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction is hindered by the challenges in activating the N≡N bond and nitrogen’s low solubility, thereby limiting its large-scale industrial applications. In this review, recent advancements in electro/photocatalytic nitrogen reduction are summarized, encompassing the complex reaction mechanisms, as well as the effective strategies for developing electro/photocatalytic catalysts and advanced reaction systems. Furthermore, the energy efficiency and economic analysis of electro/photocatalytic nitrogen fixation are deeply discussed. 8. Bioactive Alkaloids from the Mangrove-Derived Fungus Nigrospora oryzae SYSU-MS0024.

Chemical investigation of marine fungus Nigrospora oryzae SYSU-MS0024 cultured on solid-rice medium led to the isolation of three new alkaloids, including a pair of epimers, nigrosporines A (1) and B (2), and a pair of enantiomers, (+)-nigrosporine C (+)-3, and (−)-nigrosporine C (−)-3, together with eight known compounds (4–11). Their structures were elucidated based on extensive mass spectrometry (MS) and 1D/2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic analyses and compared with data in the literature. The absolute configurations of compounds 1–3 were determined by a combination of electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations, Mosher's method, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction technique using Cu Kα radiation. In bioassays, compound 2 exhibited moderate inhibition on NO accumulation induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on BV-2 cells in a dose-dependent manner at 20, 50, and 100 μmol/L and without cytotoxicity in a concentration of 100.0 μmol/L. Moreover, compound 2 also showed moderate acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activities with IC

As an effective means to endow lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) with new properties, ion doping has been widely applied. Transition metal Mn-doped CsPbCl
3 is of particular interest, as the Mn doping introduces new emission bands, improves photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), and even enhances stability. However, it is still insufficient to catch insight of the energy transfer process and luminescence characteristics of these high defect tolerance NCs doped with Mn ion. Here, we systematically studied the energy transfer from exciton to Mn2+ ions in Mn-doped CsPbCl3 NCs by variable temperature steady-state fluorescence spectra and time-resolved spectra. The abnormal attenuation behavior of the exciton and Mn2+ with the change of temperature was observed, from which we predict the existence of shallow traps near the conduction band and these shallow traps will affect the luminescence properties by influencing the energy transfer process. We show a simple physical model invoking only shallow trap states that uniquely describe the temperature-dependent energy transfer between the exciton and the Mn2+ ion. The thermometric performance (30–290 K) was studied in terms of relative thermal sensitivity, in which the calculated relative sensitivity range is ∼0.12%–1% K−1 . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

The color combination of the text background in digital reading can significantly impact reading efficiency, and prolonged digital reading can affect the efficiency of text recognition. Text background color combinations designed for the display characteristics of digital devices can make users' reading more efficient. This study investigated the effects of five factors - hue, saturation, brightness, text color and background texture - on text recognition efficiency and text legibility in digital reading, using eye-tracking technology and the E-prime psychology experimental operating platform. Pupil diameter was recorded using eye-tracking technology, and correctness and response time were recorded on the E-prime psychological operating platform, with subjective assessment of text legibility on a Likert scale. The results showed that the green-black combination had better legibility and higher recognition efficiency among light background and dark text combinations. And the peach-light grey combination performed the worst. As for the dark background and light text combinations, the green-white combination showed better legibility and recognition efficiency. Meanwhile, the background texture did not significantly affect reading efficiency in the experiment. This study investigated the factors influencing digital reading interfaces regarding recognition efficiency and legibility, which provided a reference for the design of digital reading interactive interfaces and had practical implications for reducing recognition efficiency decline due to prolonged reading. 12. Comparison of the effects of imputation methods for missing data in predictive modelling of cohort study datasets.

Background: Missing data is frequently an inevitable issue in cohort studies and it can adversely affect the study's findings. We assess the effectiveness of eight frequently utilized statistical and machine learning (ML) imputation methods for dealing with missing data in predictive modelling of cohort study datasets. This evaluation is based on real data and predictive models for cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. Methods: The data is from a real-world cohort study in Xinjiang, China. It includes personal information, physical examination data, questionnaires, and laboratory biochemical results from 10,164 subjects with a total of 37 variables. Simple imputation (Simple), regression imputation (Regression), expectation-maximization(EM), multiple imputation (MICE) , K nearest neighbor classification (KNN), clustering imputation (Cluster), random forest (RF), and decision tree (Cart) were the chosen imputation methods. Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) are utilised to assess the performance of different methods for missing data imputation at a missing rate of 20%. The datasets processed with different missing data imputation methods were employed to construct a CVD risk prediction model utilizing the support vector machine (SVM). The predictive performance was then compared using the area under the curve (AUC). Results: The most effective imputation results were attained by KNN (MAE: 0.2032, RMSE: 0.7438, AUC: 0.730, CI: 0.719-0.741) and RF (MAE: 0.3944, RMSE: 1.4866, AUC: 0.777, CI: 0.769-0.785). The subsequent best performances were achieved by EM, Cart, and MICE, while Simple, Regression, and Cluster attained the worst performances. The CVD risk prediction model was constructed using the complete data (AUC:0.804, CI:0.796-0.812) in comparison with all other models with p<0.05. Conclusion: KNN and RF exhibit superior performance and are more adept at imputing missing data in predictive modelling of cohort study datasets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

13. Effects of CYP3A4*22 and POR*28 variations on the pharmacokinetics of tacrolimus in renal transplant recipients: a meta-analysis of 18 observational studies.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the association between cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4*22 and cytochrome P450 oxidoreductase (POR)*28 variations and the pharmacokinetics of tacrolimus. Methods: Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Web of Science (SCI), MEDLINE, and Embase were systematically searched from inception to August 2022. The outcomes were weight-adjusted daily dose and dose-adjusted trough concentration (C
0 /Dose). Results: The study included 2931 renal transplant recipients from 18 publications. Weight-adjusted daily dose of CYP3A4*1/*1 carriers was 0.04 (WMD = 0.04, 95% CI: 0.02 to 0.06), 0.03 (WMD = 0.03, 95% CI: 0.02 to 0.05), 0.02 (WMD = 0.02, 95% CI: 0.01 to 0.03), or 0.02 mg/kg/day (WMD = 0.02, 95% CI: 0.00 to 0.04) higher than CYP3A4*22 carriers in Caucasians at 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months post-transplantation. Conversely, C0/Dose was lower for CYP3A4*1/*1 carriers at 3 days (SMD = -0.35, 95% CI: -0.65 to -0.06), 1 month (SMD = -0.67, 95% CI: -1.16 to -0.18), 3 months (SMD = -0.60, 95% CI: -0.89 to -0.31), 6 months (SMD = -0.76, 95% CI: -1.49 to -0.04), or 12 months post-transplantation (SMD = -0.69, 95% CI: -1.37 to 0.00). Furthermore, C0 /Dose of POR*1/*1 carriers was 22.64 (WMD = 22.64, 95% CI: 2.54 to 42.74) or 19.41 (ng/ml)/(mg/kg/day) (WMD = 19.41, 95% CI: 9.58 to 29.24) higher than POR*28 carriers in CYP3A5 expressers at 3 days or 7 days post-transplantation, and higher in Asians at 6 months post-transplantation (SMD = 0.96, 95% CI: 0.50 to 1.43). Conclusions: CYP3A4*22 variant in Caucasians restrains the metabolism of tacrolimus, while POR*28 variant in CYP3A5 expressers enhances the metabolism of tacrolimus for renal transplant recipients. 14. Validation of non-invasive indicators in the screening of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease: a cross-sectional study among Uighurs in rural Xinjiang.

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease in China. Our study aimed to evaluate the screening value of the fatty liver index (FLI), hepatic steatosis index (HSI), lipid accumulation product (LAP), visceral adiposity index (VAI), and Zhejiang University index (ZJU), as well as other single indicators for MAFLD. We aimed to find the optimal screening tool and its appropriate cut-off values for rural Uyghur adults. Methods: We completed a survey of 14,321 Uyghur adults in 51 groups in Kashgar, Xinjiang, in 2016 using a typical sampling method, with 12,794 patients ultimately included in statistical analyses. Fatty liver was diagnosed using ultrasonography. Results: The prevalence of fatty liver disease (FLD) and MAFLD was 16.73% and 16.55%, respectively, and the FLI, HSI, LAP, VAI, and ZJU were all independently associated with an increased risk of MAFLD. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs) of the FLI for diagnosing MAFLD in men and women were 0.853 and 0.847, respectively. The AUCs of the body mass index (BMI) for diagnosing MAFLD in men and women were 0.850 and 0.852, respectively. Compared with other metabolic-related markers, FLI had the largest AUC. In men, the optimal cut-off values of FLI and BMI for diagnosing MAFLD were 45 (sensitivity 84.83%, specificity 69.57%) and 27.4 (sensitivity 78.47%, specificity 76.30%), respectively. In women, the optimal cut-off values of FLI and BMI for diagnosing MAFLD were 45 (sensitivity 80.11%, specificity 74.23%) and 28.0 (sensitivity 79.56%, specificity 75.41%), respectively. In men and women, an FLI score of < 30 ruled out MAFLD, while a score of ≥ 50 was a basis for diagnosis. Conclusion: FLI and BMI had good screening ability for MAFLD and were superior to HSI, LAP, VAI, and ZJU in both sexes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The electrocatalytic nitrate (NO
3 − ) reduction reaction (NITRR) to synthesize ammonia (NH3 ) offers a promising method for both pollution abatement and chemical production. However, the sluggish multi-electron/proton-involved steps limit ammonia selectivity and yield. Herein, we loaded PdCu nanoparticles (PdCu NPs) onto defective TiO2 to regulate the localized electron density for selective NH3 synthesis. Our results show a significant increase in NH3 yield and selectivity (112.0 to 322.7 μmol cm−2 h−1 and 34.6 to 80.1%, respectively), induced by the introduction of PdCu NPs. Importantly, in situ and operando investigations combined with density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that PdCu NPs enhance the localized electron density at oxygen vacancies. This regulated electron density suppresses N–N coupling and accelerates N–H bonding processes, thus modulating NH3 selectivity. This unique insight based on localized electron density control provides a rational design strategy for metal-defect support catalysts in ammonia production using electrochemical processes. 16. The effect of mercerization on water conductivity in cotton fabrics and its regulation.

Mercerization had been widely used in the textile industry because of its simplicity and ability to improve the luster, strength, and dyeing properties of cotton fabrics. However, the water transfer behavior of mercerized cotton fabrics had not been systematically investigated. In this work, cotton fabrics were treated with different concentrations of alkali (130 and 260 g/L) for structural characterization (scanning electron microscopy [SEM], Fourier transform infrared [FTIR]), water absorption (vertical wicking height), moisture absorption (moisture return rate), water retention, and so forth, and were compared with industrial mercerized cotton. It meant that water absorbency and water holding capacity of mercerized cotton textiles were improved by reducing surface impurity, increasing amorphous region, and increasing the number of free hydroxyl groups. It was easier for water molecules to move through the fabric as the vertical wicking height increased. Research showed that the water absorption and water transfer properties of cotton fabrics were related to the alkali concentration in the mercerized treatment, and a comparison with industrial mercerized cotton also proved this point. It also showed that the amount of tension had an effect on water transfer in the fabric, which provided further precision in regulating the mercerization process, improving the thermal comfort of mercerized fabrics, and achieving the aim of regulating the mercerization process according to market demand and environmental influences. Dust exposures during mining activity can result in lung diseases such as coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP) and silicosis, and it is closely related to quartz dust. In the present study, coal-quartz dust mixture were investigated considering the particle size and the specific constituents. Multiple numerical techniques, including computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM), hard sphere model, and direct Monte Carlo simulation (DSMC), were presented, and the dust diffusion processes were investigated. According to the validation of the numerical method, the suspension characteristics of the polydisperse mixed dust were analyzed in detail. The results show that PM10 responds quickly, has a large diffusion range, and is easily affected by the reflux. The particle size increases gradually from top to bottom. When the air velocity is low, the percentage of coal dust in the breathing zone tends to be 50%. The results provide theoretical guidance for the comprehensive prevention of the mixed dust in underground coal mines. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fabricating heterostructures with abundant interfaces and delicate nanoarchitectures is an attractive approach for optimizing photocatalysts. Herein, we report the facile synthesis of BiOCl nanoflake/FeOCl nanospindle heterostructures through a solution chemistry method at room temperature. Characterizations, including XRD, SEM, TEM, EDS, and XPS, were employed to investigate the synthesized materials. The results demonstrate that the in situ reaction between the Bi precursors and the surface Cl
− of FeOCl enabled the bounded nucleation and growth of BiOCl on the surface of FeOCl nanospindles. Stable interfacial structures were established between BiOCl nanoflakes and FeOCl nanospindles using Cl− as the bridge. Regulating the Bi-to-Fe ratios allowed for the optimization of the BiOCl/FeOCl interface, thereby facilitating the separation of photogenerated carriers and accelerating the photocatalytic degradation of RhB. The BiOCl/FeOCl heterostructures with an optimal composition of 15% BiOCl exhibited ~90 times higher visible-light photocatalytic activity than FeOCl. Based on an analysis of the band structures and reactive oxygen species, we propose an S-scheme mechanism to elucidate the significantly enhanced photocatalytic performance observed in the BiOCl/FeOCl heterostructures. 21. Epidemiological characteristics of leukemia in China, 2005–2017: a log-linear regression and age-period-cohort analysis.

Background: Leukemia is a threat to human health, and there are relatively few studies on the incidence, mortality and disease burden analysis of leukemia in China. This study aimed to analyze the incidence and mortality rates of leukemia in China from 2005 to 2017 and estimate their age-period-cohort effects, it is an important prerequisite for effective prevention and control of leukemia. Methods: Leukemia incidence and mortality data from 2005 to 2017 were collected from the Chinese Cancer Registry Annual Report. Joinpoint regression model was used to estimate the average annual percentage change (AAPC) and annual percentage change (APC) response time trend. Age-period-cohort model was constructed to analyze the effects of age, period and cohort. Results: The age-standardized incidence rate of leukemia was 4.54/100,000 from 2005 to 2017, showed an increasing trend with AAPC of 1.9% (95% CI: 1.3%, 2.5%). The age-standardized mortality rate was 2.91/100,000, showed an increasing trend from 2005 to 2012 with APC of 2.1% (95%CI: 0.4%, 3.9%) and then a decreasing trend from 2012 to 2017 with APC of -2.5% (95%CI: -5.3%, 0.3%). The age-standardized incidence (mortality) rates of leukemia were not only higher in males than that in females, but also increased more rapidly. The incidence of leukemia in rural areas was lower than in urban areas, but the AAPC was 2.2 times higher than urban areas. Children aged 0–4 years were at higher risk of leukemia. The risk of leukemia incidence and mortality increased with age. The period effect of leukemia mortality risk showed a decreasing trend, while the cohort effect showed an increasing and then decreasing trend with the turning point of 1955–1959. Conclusions: The age-standardized incidence rate of leukemia in China showed an increasing trend from 2005 to 2017, while the age-standardized mortality rate increased first and then decreased in 2012 as a turning point. Differences existed by gender and region. The risk of leukemia incidence and mortality increased accordingly with age. The risk of mortality due to leukemia gradually decreased from 2005 to 2017. Continuous monitoring of arterial blood pressure is clinically important for diagnosing and managing cardiovascular diseases. Soft electronic devices with skin‐like properties show promise in various applications, including the human‐machine interface, the Internet of Things, and health monitoring. Herein, the use of add‐on soft electronic interfaces addresses the connection challenges between soft electrodes and rigid data acquisition circuitry for bioimpedance monitoring of cardiac signals, including heart rate and cuffless blood pressure is reported. Nanocomposite films in add‐on electrodes provide robust electrical and mechanical contact with the skin and the rigid circuitry. Bioimpedance sensors composed of add‐on electrodes offer continuous blood pressure monitoring with high accuracy. Specifically, the bioimpedance collected with add‐on nanocomposite electrodes shows a signal‐to‐noise ratio of 37.0 dB, higher than the ratio of 25.9 dB obtained with standard silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) gel electrodes. Although the sample set is low, the continuously measured systolic and diastolic blood pressure offer accuracy of −2.0 ± 6.3 mmHg and −4.3 ± 3.9 mmHg, respectively, confirming the grade A performance based on the IEEE standard. Multifunctional nanoaggregates are widely used in cancer phototheranostics. However, it is challenging to construct their multifunctionality with a single component, and deliver them rapidly and efficiently without complex modifications. Herein, a NIR‐absorbing small molecule named TBT‐2(TP‐DPA) is designed and certify its theranostic potentials. Then, their nanoaggregates, which are simply encapsulated by DSPE‐PEG, demonstrate a photothermal efficiency of 51% while keeping a high photoluminescence quantum yield in the NIR region. Moreover, the nanoaggregates can be excited and delivered by an 808 nm pulse laser to solid tumors within only 40 min. The delivery efficiency and theranostic efficacy are better than that of the traditional enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect (generally longer than 24 hours). This platform is first termed as the photoinduced thermoacoustic (PTA) process, and confirm its application requires both NIR‐responsive materials and pulse laser irradiation. This study not only inspires the design of multifunctional nanoaggregates, but also offers a feasible approach to their fast delivery. The platform reported here provides a promising prospect to boost the development of multifunctional theranostic drugs and maximize the efficacy of used medicines for their clinical applications. Icon cognitive impairment is one of the main difficulties for older users to use smart products. This study explores the impact of icon style, icon concreteness and both together on understanding icons by comparing the cognitive differences between two groups of users, young and old. The performance of different types of icons on cognitive performance was analyzed specifically through a comprehensive cognitive load assessment method of behavioral, physiological and subjective data. The results showed that the cognitive performance of skeuomorphism concrete icons was higher and the cognitive load was lower when the user group was novice or older users with less experience in interacting with the GUI; the cognitive performance of flat concrete icons was higher and the cognitive load was lower when the user group was familiar or young users with more experience in interacting with the GUI. From the perspective of cognitive differences between young and old, the results of this study provide a reference for future icon design of interactive interfaces for older people smart terminals to help designers and developers achieve a better user experience for the aging group, which has practical significance for the age-friendly design of graphical interfaces. The present study investigates dust generated from the unloading process in a high-rise building for the mine hoist system and analyzes dust dispersion with the moving conveyance in the building. First, the gas-solid two-phase flow in the building was investigated based on the CFD-DPM method. In particular, the moving conveyance was considered in detail and treated via the dynamic mesh technology. Then, the airflow and dust distribution were investigated in the building. The airflow and the dust concentration at selected points show good agreement with the relative results of field measurements by ourselves. It is found that the descending conveyance significantly influences the surrounding flow field and the spatial and temporal distribution of dust. Dust concentration before the dust source (2 m × 2 m) is high, which extends downward with the conveyance. Dust concentration of the lower floors increases obviously when compared with that of the condition without the movement of the conveyance. The descending velocity of the conveyance also affects the amount of PM
2.5 discharged from the return air outlet. The fitting functions are provided to predict PM2.5 emissions to the surrounding atmosphere. The research results are of great significance for the improvement of the dust control system for cleaner production technology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

27. Patterns of global burden of 13 diseases attributable to lead exposure, 1990–2019.

- Abstract
Objectives: Understanding the spatio-temporal patterns of the global burden of various diseases resulting from lead exposure is critical for controlling lead pollution and disease prevention. Methods: Based on the 2019 Global Burden of Disease (GBD) framework and methodology, the global, regional, and national burden of 13 level-three diseases attributable to lead exposure were analyzed by disease type, patient age and sex, and year of occurrence. Population attributable fraction (PAF), deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), age-standardized mortality rate (ASMR) and age-standardized DALYs rate (ASDR) obtained from the GBD 2019 database were used as descriptive indicators, and the average annual percentage change (AAPC) was estimated by a log-linear regression model to reflect the time trend. Results and conclusions: From 1990 to 2019, the number of deaths and DALYs resulting from lead exposure increased by 70.19% and 35.26%, respectively; however, the ASMR and ASDR decreased by 20.66% and 29.23%, respectively. Ischemic heart disease (IHD), stroke, and hypertensive heart disease (HHD) showed the highest increases in deaths; IHD, stroke, and diabetes and kidney disease (DKD) had the fastest-growing DALYs. The fastest decline in ASMR and ASDR was seen in stroke, with AAPCs of -1.25 (95% CI [95% confidence interval]: -1.36, -1.14) and -1.66 (95% CI: -1.76, -1.57), respectively. High PAFs occurred mainly in South Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Age-specific PAFs of DKD resulting from lead exposure were positively correlated with age, whereas the opposite was true for mental disorders (MD), with the burden of lead-induced MD concentrated in children aged 0–6 years. The AAPCs of ASMR and ASDR showed a strong negative correlation with the socio-demographic index. Our findings showed that the global impact of lead exposure and its burden increased from 1990 to 2019 and varied significantly according to age, sex, region, and resulting disease. 28. Comparison of the plantar pressure distribution and mechanical alignment in patients with varus knee osteoarthritis following high tibial osteotomy.

Purpose: The changes in the lower limb alignment were vitally important after high tibial osteotomy (HTO). Therefore, the purpose of present study was to analyze the characteristics of plantar pressure distribution after HTO, and to investigate the effect of plantar pressure distribution on postoperative limb alignment. Methods: Between May 2020 and April 2021, varus knee patients undergoing HTO were evaluated in the present study. The peak pressure of plantar regions, medial-lateral pressure ratio (MLPR), foot progression angle (FTA), anteroposterior COP (AP-COP), lateral symmetry of COP (LS-COP), and the radiographic parameters were evaluated preoperatively and at the final follow-up. Compared among the slight valgus (SV), moderate valgus (MV) and large valgus (LV) groups at the final follow-up, the peak pressure of HM, HC and M5 regions, and the MLPR were compared; the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score4 (KOOS4) including four subscales, and the American of orthopedic foot and ankle society (AOFAS) were evaluated. Results: The WBL%, HKA and TPI angle changed significantly after HTO (P < 0.001). The preoperative group exhibited a lower peak pressure in the HM region (P < 0.05) and higher peak pressure in the M5 region (P < 0.05); the pre- and postoperative groups exhibited a lower peak pressure in the HC region (P < 0.05); the rearfoot MLPR was significantly lower and LS-COP was significantly higher in the preoperative group (P = 0.017 in MLPR and 0.031 in LS-COP, respectively). Comparison among the SV, MV and LV groups, the SV group indicated a lower peak pressure in the HM region (P = 0.036), and a lower MLPR in the rearfoot (P = 0.033). The KOOS Sport/Re score in the MV and LV groups increased significantly compared with the SV group (P = 0.042). Conclusion: Plantar pressure distribution during the stance phase in patients with varus knee OA following HTO exhibited a more medialized rearfoot plantar pressure distribution pattern than that before surgery. Compared with the small valgus alignment, a moderate to large valgus alignment allows patients to walk with a more even medial and lateral plantar pressure distribution, which is more similar to healthy adults. 29. Enhanced charge transport from Pd-doping in CsPbBr3 quantum dots for efficient photoelectrocatalytic water splitting.

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting is an effective method to solve the energy crisis and environmental problems. All inorganic lead halogen perovskites are good candidates due to their excellent optoelectronic properties such as suitable band energy and the valence band (VB) position and facile solution manufacturing. However, their photoelectrocatalytic activity is restricted by poor electron–hole pair separation and transport resulting in the non-radiative recombination of the carriers. Here, we propose a simple hot-injection method to promote the photoelectrocatalytic activity of CsPbBr
3 quantum dots (QDs) by Pd doping directly for photoelectrocatalytic water splitting in a KOH base aqueous solution. Pd2+ cations with a small ion radius as a dopant for CsPbBr3 QDs stabilize the crystal structure of the perovskite, and also form a more aligned VB between Pd-CsPbBr3 QDs and graphite sheets (GSs). As a result, the hole transport barrier is reduced, which improves the separation and transport of charge carriers, thereby increasing the photoelectrocatalytic activity of the photoanode in water splitting. The Pd-CsPbBr3 QD based device exhibits a champion photocurrent density of 2.07 mA cm−2 at 1.23 V versus a RHE, which is 5.17 times higher than that of pristine CsPbBr3 (0.40 mA cm−2 ). 30. Study on the prediction model of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in the rural Xinjiang population based on survival analysis.

Purpose: With the increase in aging and cardiovascular risk factors, the morbidity and mortality of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), represented by ischemic heart disease and stroke, continue to rise in China. For better prevention and intervention, relevant guidelines recommend using predictive models for early detection of ASCVD high-risk groups. Therefore, this study aims to establish a population ASCVD prediction model in rural areas of Xinjiang using survival analysis. Methods: Baseline cohort data were collected from September to December 2016 and followed up till June 2022. A total of 7975 residents (4054 males and 3920 females) aged 30–74 years were included in the analysis. The data set was divided according to different genders, and the training and test sets ratio was 7:3 for different genders. A Cox regression, Lasso-Cox regression, and random survival forest (RSF) model were established in the training set. The model parameters were determined by cross-validation and parameter tuning and then verified in the training set. Traditional ASCVD prediction models (Framingham and China-PAR models) were constructed in the test set. Different models' discrimination and calibration degrees were compared to find the optimal prediction model for this population according to different genders and further analyze the risk factors of ASCVD. Results: After 5.79 years of follow-up, 873 ASCVD events with a cumulative incidence of 10.19% were found (7.57% in men and 14.44% in women). By comparing the discrimination and calibration degrees of each model, the RSF showed the best prediction performance in males and females (male: Area Under Curve (AUC) 0.791 (95%CI 0.767,0.813), C statistic 0.780 (95%CI 0.730,0.829), Brier Score (BS):0.060, female: AUC 0.759 (95%CI 0.734,0.783) C statistic was 0.737 (95%CI 0.702,0.771), BS:0.110). Age, systolic blood pressure (SBP), apolipoprotein B (APOB), Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI), hip circumference (HC), and plasma arteriosclerosis index (AIP) are important predictors of ASCVD in the rural population of Xinjiang. Conclusion: The performance of the ASCVD prediction model based on the RSF algorithm is better than that based on Cox regression, Lasso-Cox, and the traditional ASCVD prediction model in the rural population of Xinjiang. 31. Sub-Millisecond Laser-Irradiation-Mediated Surface Restructure Boosts the CO Production Yield of Cobalt Oxide Supported Pd Nanoparticles.

The catalytic conversion of CO
2 into valuable commodities has the potential to balance ongoing energy and environmental issues. To this end, the reverse water–gas shift (RWGS) reaction is a key process that converts CO2 into CO for various industrial processes. However, the competitive CO2 methanation reaction severely limits the CO production yield; therefore, a highly CO-selective catalyst is needed. To address this issue, we have developed a bimetallic nanocatalyst comprising Pd nanoparticles on the cobalt oxide support (denoted as CoPd) via a wet chemical reduction method. Furthermore, the as-prepared CoPd nanocatalyst was exposed to sub-millisecond laser irradiation with per-pulse energies of 1 mJ (denoted as CoPd-1) and 10 mJ (denoted as CoPd-10) for a fixed duration of 10 s to optimize the catalytic activity and selectivity. For the optimum case, the CoPd-10 nanocatalyst exhibited the highest CO production yield of ∼1667 μmol g−1 catalyst , with a CO selectivity of ∼88% at a temperature of 573 K, which is a 41% improvement over pristine CoPd (~976 μmol g−1 catalyst ). The in-depth analysis of structural characterizations along with gas chromatography (GC) and electrochemical analysis suggested that such a high catalytic activity and selectivity of the CoPd-10 nanocatalyst originated from the sub-millisecond laser-irradiation-assisted facile surface restructure of cobalt oxide supported Pd nanoparticles, where atomic CoOx species were observed in the defect sites of the Pd nanoparticles. Such an atomic manipulation led to the formation of heteroatomic reaction sites, where atomic CoOx species and adjacent Pd domains, respectively, promoted the CO2 activation and H2 splitting steps. In addition, the cobalt oxide support helped to donate electrons to Pd, thereby enhancing its ability of H2 splitting. Hybrid supercapacitors use electric double‐layer capacitance and Faradaic pseudocapacitance as energy storage mechanisms. This type of supercapacitor is becoming a prime candidate for next‐generation energy storage devices, with advantages in terms of energy density, specific capacitance, and life cycle. However, reducing the electrode area and increasing the specific capacitance of hybrid supercapacitors remain challenging. In this study, a MoCl5 Precursor‐assisted Ultrafast Laser Carbonization (MPAULC) method to fabricate symmetric hybrid supercapacitors with improved capacitance and reduced size is proposed. The method uses an ultrafast laser to induce the formation of carbon/MoO3 composite with the assistance of the MoCl5 precursor. This ultrafast laser carbonization method exhibited high processing precision. The role of the precursor in laser processing is studied using time‐resolved imaging and temperature calculations. The specific area capacitance of the C/MoO3 hybrid supercapacitor is 11.85 mF cm−2, 9.2 times higher than that of the laser‐induced carbon supercapacitor without precursor. The MPAULC method provides a reliable pathway for fabricating miniaturized hybrid supercapacitors with carbon/metal oxide composite electrodes on polymer substrates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

van der Waals heterostructures (vdWHs) based on two-dimensional (2D) materials without the crystal lattice matching constraint have great potential for high-performance optoelectronic devices. Herein, a WS
2 /InSe vdWH photodiode is proposed and fabricated by precisely stacking InSe and WS2 flakes through an all-dry transfer method. The WS2 /InSe vdWH forms an n—n heterojunction with strong built-in electric field due to their intrinsic n-type semiconductor characteristics and energy-band alignments with a large Fermi level offset between WS2 and InSe. As a result, the device displays excellent photovoltaic behavior with a large open voltage of 0.47 V and a short-circuit current of 11.7 nA under 520 nm light illumination. Significantly, a fast rising/decay time of 63/76 µs, a large light on/off ratio of 105 , a responsivity of 61 mA/W, a high detectivity of 2.5 × 1011 Jones, and a broadband photoresponse ranging from ultraviolet to near-infrared (325–980 nm) are achieved at zero bias. Perovskite materials are widely used in the fields of luminescence and light energy conversion with the advantages of low cost and outstanding optoelectronic properties. However, abundant surface lattice defects heavily affect the performances of perovskite optoelectronic devices. Here, by treating surface defects with oleylamine molecules in situ, the surface trap states are significantly decreased in a CsPbBr3 microplate, enabling photoluminescence intensity and carrier lifetimes to be dramatically enhanced and prolonged, respectively. These interesting phenomena can be attributed to the binding of undercoordinated Pb atoms with N atoms on the surface of perovskite microplate. The strong binding energy of lead‐halogen bonds inhibits the photodegraded reactions of the crystal, leading to the significant improvement of luminescent stability for the microplate correspondingly. The results not only provide experimental guidance for passivating lattice defects but also pave the way for improving the efficiency of wide materials and optoelectronic devices. Chloroplasts are critical organelles for photosynthesis and play significant roles in plant growth and metabolism. High temperature is one of abiotic stresses affecting the growth and development of plants, involving chlorophyll biosynthesis and chloroplast development. It is well known that the methyl erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) pathway is vital to photosynthesis and plant growth, and 1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate synthase (DXS) is the enzyme that catalyze the first step of the MEP pathway. Although DXS has been widely studied in microbes and plants, no DXS gene has been identified in rice. Here, a novel thermo-sensitive chlorophyll-deficient 5 (tscd5) mutant was isolated in rice with decreased chlorophyll contents, impaired chloroplasts, and albino leaves at high temperature (35 °C). Fine mapping and DNA sequencing of TSCD5 found a missense mutation (G to A) in the sixth exon of LOC_Os05g33840 in tscd5. The TSCD5 gene encodes a 1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate synthase 1 (OsDXS1) localized in chloroplast. Complementation tests and overexpression assay demonstrated that the mutation in LOC_Os05g33840 caused the tscd5 phenotype. qRT-PCR of TSCD5 showed it was constitutively expressed in all tissues, and its transcript amounts were reduced in tscd5 under high temperature. Here, TSCD5 is verified to be crucial to chloroplast development under high temperature in rice, which may facilitate the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms which underlie acclimation to high temperature stress in plants. Hybrid lead halide perovskites are widely studied in photodetectors due to their excellent optoelectronic properties. However, most of the perovskite photodetectors require an external power source, which adds additional costs and limits their application. Here, a self‐powered photodetector based on the heterojunction formed by methylammonium lead tribromide perovskite nanocrystals (MAPbBr3 NCs) and mesoporous TiO2 (m‐TiO2) is demonstrated by a space‐confined growth method. The NCs are uniformly grown on the m‐TiO2 framework and mirco‐heterojunctions are formed. Systematic research shows that the built‐in electric field of the mirco‐heterojunctions increases the exciton dissociation and carrier transport. In the absence of an external power supply, the photodetectors display an impressive on/off ratio (>105) and high detectivity (>1011 Jones) under 100 mW cm−2 solar irradiation. In addition, the winning device shows excellent long‐term stability (photocurrent maintains over 92% after exposure of 102 days to the air), benefiting from the enhanced binding energy and reduced defect density of NCs. Waveguide–plasmon polaritons sustained in metallic photonic crystal slabs show fascinating properties, such as narrow bandwidth and ultrafast dynamics crucial for biosensing, light emitting, and ultrafast switching. However, the patterning of metallic photonic crystals using electron beam lithography is challenging in terms of high efficiency, large area coverage, and cost control. This paper describes a controllable patterning technique for the fabrication of an Ag grating structure on an indium–tin oxide (ITO) slab that enables strong photon–plasmon interaction to obtain waveguide–plasmon polaritons. The Ag grating consisting of self-assembled silver nanoparticles (NPs) exhibits polarization-independent properties for the excitation of the hybrid waveguide–plasmon mode. The Ag NP grating can also be annealed at high temperature to form a continuous nanoline grating that supports the hybrid waveguide–plasmon mode only under transverse magnetic (TM) polarization. We tuned the morphology and the periodicity of the Ag grating through the concentration of silver salt and the photoresist template, respectively, to manipulate the strong coupling between the plasmon and the waveguide modes of different orders. Background: Gallbladder disease (GBD) can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, GBD has rarely been reported in the less developed, rural areas of Xinjiang. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of GBD and incidence of CVD in a prospective cohort study in rural Xinjiang. Moreover, the study aimed to explore the association between GBD and CVD within this cohort. Methods: The study cohort included 11,444 Uyghur adults in Xinjiang, 3
rd division, from the 51st Mission. Study groups were classified according to whether GBD was present or absent at baseline. The occurrence of CVD was the end event. Demographic, anthropometric, and biochemical data were recorded, and the incidence of CVD in the GBD and non-GBD groups analysed. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to assess the association between GBD and CVD and factors associated with their incidence. Several subgroup analyses were performed to assess CVD incidence in different subgroups. The interaction between GBD and cardiometabolic risk factors, and subsequent risk of developing CVD, was evaluated. Results: Prevalence of GBD in the study cohort was 10.29%. After a median follow-up of 4.92 years, the cumulative incidence of CVD in the study cohort was 10.49%, 8.43% in males and 12.65% in females. CVD incidence was higher in the GBD group (34.04% vs. 7.78%, HR = 4.96, 95% CI: 4.40–5.59). After multivariate adjustment, the risk of CVD remained higher in the GBD group (HR = 2.89, 95% CI: 2.54–3.29). Subgroup analyses showed male sex, smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of exercise, and abnormal renal function were all associated with increased risk of CVD. Moreover, the risk of CVD was markedly higher in GBD combined with cardiometabolic risk factors (hypertension, T2DM, dyslipidaemia, overweight, and abdominal obesity), than in cardiometabolic risk factors alone and this was higher in the GBD group than in the non-GBD group regardless of whether cardiometabolic risk factors were combined. Conclusion: GBD is an important independent risk factor for CVD development. We theoretically investigate a second-order optomechanically induced transparency process of a cigarshaped dual-species Bose–Einstein condensate with nonlinear collisions trapped inside an optomechanical cavity. We find that atomic collisions provide linear couplings, which facilitate the mechanical mixing of the dual-species Bose–Einstein condensate. We derive analytical expressions of the output transmission intensity of the probe field and the dimensionless amplitude of the second-order sideband. The numerical results show that the transmission intensity and the dimensionless amplitude of the second-order sideband can be controlled by the control field intensities, the effective detuning, and the effective coupling strength of the Bogoliubov mode of the dual-species Bose–Einstein condensate and optical mode. Manipulating photocarrier dynamics for luminescent materials is fundamentally important for steering luminescent properties of optoelectronic devices. Here, interfacial engineering is realized by constructing Au NPs‐CsPbBr3 interfaces toward resonant coupling between localized surface plasmon and exciton. Through ultrafast laser spectroscopic measurements, it is demonstrated that photoluminance originating from CsPbBr3 excitonic recombination is significantly enhanced at the interface with prolonged lifetimes. Interfacial photocarrier dynamics are mediated by plasmon‐induced hot electron transfer (PHET) and plasmon‐induced resonant energy transfer (PIRET) processes. By simply varying excitation laser wavelengths, PHET path of photocarriers is actively switched on and off. We propose a new algorithmic framework, called partial rejection sampling, to draw samples exactly from a product distribution, conditioned on none of a number of bad events occurring. Our framework builds new connections between the variable framework of the Lovász Local Lemma and some classical sampling algorithms such as the cycle-popping algorithm for rooted spanning trees. Self‐powered photodetectors (SPPDs) are generally carried out in multilayered heterostructures with different semiconductors or in Schottky junctions with different metal electrodes. It is interesting to build an SPPD using metal–semiconductor–metal (MSM) structures with the same type of metal electrodes. Here, an SPPD is fabricated facilely by stacking a piece of irregular InSe nanosheet on a pair of Au electrodes with asymmetric van der Waals contacts. The SPPD performs a high responsivity of 0.103 A W−1, a high on‐off current ratio over 104, a high detectivity of 1.83 × 1010 Jones, a fast response time of 1 ms and a broadband sensing spectrum ranging from 300 to 1000 nm under zero bias. A series of characterization and working mechanism analysis demonstrate the contribution of the asymmetric Schottky barrier heights and contact geometries in Au–InSe junctions to the self‐powered performance of the detector. We introduce a new perfect sampling technique that can be applied to general Gibbs distributions and runs in linear time if the correlation decays faster than the neighborhood growth. In particular, in graphs with subexponential neighborhood growth like ℤd, our algorithm achieves linear running time as long as Gibbs sampling is rapidly mixing. In Chinese record linkage, the similarity measurement of short text fields such as identifying information has an important influence on the effect of linkage. In this paper, we compared the performance of six different string comparators for Chinese record linkage, including Hamming, Levenshtein, Jaro, Overlap Coefficient, Cosine and Ratcliff–Obershelp similarity. At the same time, the expectation-maximization algorithm was used to perform the probabilistic record linkage. The results showed that compared with other string comparators, Jaro similarity not only gets higher precision and recall, but also has the least computational time.
