To investigate the effect mechanism of electroacupuncture based on the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) /acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) signaling pathway to improve glycolipid metabolism disorders in db/db mice. 10 db/m mice with normal genotype were used as the normal control group without diabetes (Con), and 30 db/db mice were divided randomly into three groups: Pathological model mice (Mod), Acupuncture + ACC antagonist group (Acu + ACC), and Acupuncture + AMPK antagonist group (Acu + AMPK). Con and Mod did not receive any special treatment, only as a control observation. The latter two groups of mice received electroacupuncture treatment for 4 weeks. Mouse triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), and cholesterin(CHO) levels were detected by colorimetric assay. Enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) was used to detect insulin(INS) levels. Liver histopathologic changes and hepatic glycogen synthesis were observed by HE and PAS staining. The mRNA and protein expression of insulin receptor substrate-1(IRS1), Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K), protein kinase B (AKT), AMPK, and ACC were detected by Western blot and qRT-PCR.The results show that compared with Mod, TG, LDL, CHO, and INS levels of Acu + AMPK and Acu + ACC mice were significantly reduced (P < 0.05), and the HDL levels were significantly increased (P < 0.05), the steatotic degeneration of mice hepatocytes was reduced to different degrees, and the hepatocyte glycogen particles were increased, and the latter two groups had a decrease in AKT, ACC mRNA expression was reduced (P < 0.05), PI3K protein expression was increased, and AKT and ACC protein expression was reduced (P < 0.05), in addition, protein expression of AMPK was increased and IRS1 protein expression was reduced in Acu + ACC (P < 0.05). Clock genes are essential for the daily functions of vertebrates and invertebrates and participate in a wide variety of biological functions including biochemical, physiological, and behavioral processes. Circadian clock disorders are detrimental to both humans and fish, and therefore research on the regulation of genes involved in the circadian clock has attracted increasing attention. Period 2 (per2) is an important gene whose expression is closely related to melatonin secretion, in addition to being affected by the photoperiod length. To gain more insights into the potential biological function of per2, we have cloned and expressed per2 in Amur minnow (Phoxinus lagowskii). We also analyzed melatonin content and AANAT2 gene expression under different short or long-term photoperiod conditions. In the present study, the secretion of melatonin in P. lagowskii was highest in the dark phase under short-term experiments. In the pituitary, the expression of the per2 gene was highest during the dark phase in both the 16L: 8D and 8L: 16D groups. The expression of the per2 gene in the brain was also highest during the dark phase in the 12L: 12D group. Though the expression of the per2 gene was not the highest in the dark phase for the other groups, there were no significant differences compared to the highest value. In addition, in the brain and pituitary, AANAT2 expression was highest during the light phase, except in the 8L: 16D group. Our findings suggested that Amper2 may participate in the feedback regulation of melatonin by regulating the expression of AANAT2. Fluorescence in situ hybridization analyses confirmed that per2 mRNA was expressed during the dark phase, especially in 16L: 8D group. Immunohistochemistry analyses confirmed that PER2 protein was expressed higher in 8L: 16D group. The dual luciferase experiment first validated the promotion of Wnt/β-Catenin expression by the per2 gene. Our results provide novel insights into the expression and location of per2, which contributes to a better understanding of the role of clock genes in the circadian rhythm and seasonal responses of high-latitude fish and might provide useful information of practical interest for high-latitude aquaculture. Introduction. To investigate the effects of acupuncture on endogenous metabolites in the liver of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) mice-based metabolomics. Methods. Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) metabolomics combined with multivariate statistical analysis and univariate analysis were used to analyze the changes of endogenous metabolites in the liver of mice in each group and to provide new clinical ideas for acupuncture in the treatment of glycolipid metabolism disorders caused by T2DM and NAFLD. Results. After 4 weeks of continuous treatment, fasting blood glucose (FBG), insulin (INS), total cholesterol (TC), and triglyceride (TG) decreased significantly in mice in the acupuncture treatment group (ATG), and the content of liver glycogen increased significantly. Based on 1H-NMR metabolomic analysis, a total of 47 metabolites were identified in the liver of T2DM with NAFLD mice, of which eight metabolites: UDP-N-acetylglucosamine, adenosine, glutamate, isoleucine, ATP, 3-hydroxybutyric acid, NADP+, and leucine were significantly altered by acupuncture treatment. Through the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis, it is found that acupuncture has an intervention effect on five metabolic pathways, mainly involving amino acid metabolism, energy metabolism, and oxidative stress. Conclusion. Our study shows that acupuncture can regulate the liver metabolism mode of T2DM in NAFLD mice. It can reduce blood glucose and lipid accumulation in the liver, and these findings provide a new idea and theoretical basis for acupuncture in the treatment of diseases related to glucose and lipid metabolism. Background: The surgical approach for patients with Siewert type II AEG remains controversial. Several studies have described a new laparoscopic radical resection approach of Siewert type II AEG through the left diaphragm. However, the technical safety and feasibility of the new surgical approach compared with the transhiatal approach have not yet been tested. Study design: We retrospectively reviewed patients with AEG who underwent TSLG and LTH operations in the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine between January 2017 and April 2021. Histologically confirmed AEG and D2 lymphadenectomy with curative R0 patients were included, and patients with Siewert I/III AEG or distant metastasis were excluded. Blood loss, the amount of harvested lymph node, and complications related to surgery were evaluated. Results: A total of 99 patients with Siewert type II AEG were analyzed, 44 in the TSLG group and 55 in the LTH group. There was no difference in clinicopathological features between the two groups. The more harvested lymph node (23.33 ± 11.41 vs. 32.18 ± 12.85, p < 0.01), lower mediastinal lymph node (1.07 ± 2.08 vs. 3.25 ± 3.31, p < 0.01), and longer proximal margin length (3.08 ± 1.19 vs. 4.47 ± 0.95 cm, p < 0.01) were observed in the TSLG group. The rate of cure (R0 gastrectomy) in the TSLG group was higher than that in the LTH group (100% vs. 89.09%, p = 0.03). Conclusion: The TSLG approach is associated with improved surgical views, simplified lymphatic dissection in the inferior mediastinum, and more reliable margins. Background: Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a prevalent degenerative disease and often recognized as the primary cause of lower back pain (LBP). Aucubin (Au) is a natural compound with anti-inflammatory properties in various diseases. The present study aimed to confirm the therapeutic effect of Au on IDD and explore its potential mechanism in vivo and in vitro.Methods: The process of IDD was simulated using the lumbar spine instability (LSI) model. In vivo, the therapeutic effect of Au on LSI-induced mice was evaluated by micro-CT and histomorphometry. Additionally, immunohistochemistry was applied to detect the cartilage metabolism and inflammasome activation in endplate. In vitro, the cytotoxicity of Au on ATDC5 cells was detected by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), and the biological effects of Au were evaluated by Quantitative Real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and Western blotting.Results: Micro-CT analysis showed that Au administration significantly alleviated LSI-induced disc volume narrowing and endplate cartilage degeneration, which was further supported by Alcian Blue Hematoxylin/Orange G (ABH/OG) staining. Immunohistochemistry results verified that Au could increase the expression of Col2α 1 and Aggrecan, reduce the expression of Mmp-13, and attenuate the degradation of the endplate extracellular matrix (ECM). Mechanistically, we found that Au treatment, both in vivo and in vitro, significantly inhibited NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome activation in chondrocytes as determined by the decreased expression of p-P65, NLRP3, and Caspase-1.Discussion: Taken together, our findings have demonstrated for the first time that Au treatment ameliorated the degeneration of cartilage endplates in IDD may by inhibiting NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome activation in chondrocytes and provided a potential candidate for the treatment of IDD. Background: This study aimed to investigate the pathogenic factors of glucocorticoids (GCs)-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (GONFH) and its underlying pathogenesis in vivo and in vitro. Methods: Radiographical (µCT) scanning, histopathological, immunohistochemical, reactive oxygen species (ROS) and tunel staining were conducted on GONFH patients and rats. ROS, tunel, flow cytometry, alkaline phosphatase, Oil red O staining, reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR and western blotting were applied to elucidate the exact pathogenesis mechanism. Results: Clinical and animal studies demonstrated increased levels of ROS, aggravated oxidative stress (OS) microenvironment, augmented apoptosis and imbalance in osteogenic/lipogenic in the GONFH group compared to the control group. The fate of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) directed by GCs is a crucial factor in determining GONFH. In vitro studies further revealed that GCs promote excessive ROS production through the expression of NOX family proteins, leading to a deterioration of the OS microenvironment in MSCs, ultimately resulting in apoptosis and imbalance in osteogenic/lipogenic differentiation. Furthermore, our results confirmed that the NOX inhibitor-diphenyleneiodonium chloride and the NF-κB inhibitor-BAY 11-7082 ameliorated apoptosis and osteogenic/lipogenic differentiation imbalance of MSCs induced by an excess of GCs. Conclusion: We demonstrated for the first time that the aggravation of the OS microenvironment in MSCs caused by high doses of GCs leading to apoptosis and differentiation imbalance is a crucial factor in the pathogenesis of GONFH, mediated through activating the NOX/ROS/NF-κB signaling pathway. Real-time monitoring of the laser paint removal process is critical to realize a good cleaning effect without causing damages to the base. Acoustic signals when the laser pulse continuously acts at one point were studied through an experiment. Results show that peak values and maximum frequency component of acoustic signals decreased to a stable value with paint removal, reflecting the cleaning process. According to an experimental study on cleaning acoustic signals during laser scanning, the cleaning process is divided into paint removal, clean finished, and excessive cleaning according to the damages threshold. The acoustic signals of the different processes were analyzed. Results show that variations of frequency components could reflect the paint removal process more accurately than time-domain signals. Extracting characteristic parameters of the maximum frequency component, spectrum, spectrum centroid amplitude, and spectrum centroid frequency from the frequency domain; introducing in the discriminant analysis; and establishing a Bayesian discriminant model according to cleaning characteristics can realize the quantitative discrimination of the paint removal process. Background: Recent studies have discovered an emerging role of IL11 in various colitis-associated cancers, suggesting that IL11 mainly promotes tumor cell survival and proliferation in regulating tumorigenesis. Herein we aimed to reveal a novel function of IL-11 through STAT3 signaling in regulating tumor immune evasion. Methods: AOM/DSS model in Il11−/− and Apcmin/+/Il11−/− mice were used to detect tumor growth and CD8+ T infiltration. STAT1/3 phosphorylation and MHC-I, CXCL9, H2-K1 and H2-D1 expression were detected in MC38 cells and intestine organoids treated with/without recombinant IL11 to explore effect of IL11/STAT3 signaling, with IL11 mutein used to competitively inhibit IL11 and rescue inhibited STAT1 activation. Correlation between IL11 and CD8+ T infiltration was analyzed using TIMER2.0 website. IL11 expression and survival prognosis was analyzed in clinical data of patient cohort from Nanfang Hospital. Results: IL11 is highly expressed in CRC and indicates unfavorable prognosis. IL11 knockout increased CD8+ T cell infiltration and reduced intestinal and colon formation. Tumors were significantly suppressed while MHC-I and CXCL9 expression for CD8+ T infiltration were remarkably increased in the tumor tissues of Apcmin/+/Il11−/− mice or Il11−/− mice induced by AOM/DSS. IL11/STAT3 signaling downregulated MHC-I and CXCL9 by inhibiting IFNγ-induced STAT1 phosphorylation. IL11 mutein competitively inhibit IL11 to upregulate CXCL9 and MHC-I in tumor and attenuated tumor growth. The generating grinding method has the characteristics of high machining accuracy and high efficiency. Therefore, it is widely used in the finishing process of the face gear tooth surface. The physical performance of the grinding process is an important factor that influences the machining accuracy of the face gear tooth surface. Therefore, to improve the manufacturing accuracy of the face gear, it is necessary to accurately simulate the grinding process of the face gear. Owing to the influence of the complex spatial geometric characteristics of the face gear tooth surface and the grinding wheel, establishing a surface residual modeling method for the face gear is a key challenge in simulating the generating grinding process. To address the aforementioned issues, this study proposes a normal cutting depth iterative method to calculate the grinding residual in the face gear generating grinding process. This method considers the complex 3D spatial characteristics of the face gear tooth surface and establishes the spatial residual model of each node of the face gear surface in the process of generating grinding. Compared with other residual algorithms based on 2D truncation or Boolean operation of face gears, this algorithm has higher computational accuracy and efficiency. The five-axis flank milling process of sculptured surfaces is an intricate process involving time-varying and nonlinear characteristics under the multiphysics coupling effect. The milling force during the process is an important factor that influences the machining accuracy of sculptured surfaces. Face gears, as parts with sculptured surfaces, are widely employed in the aerospace and machinery manufacturing industries. To realize the high-precision manufacturing of face gears with a universal milling machine, this study proposes a five-axis flank milling method for face gears. In addition, based on the tangent plane approximation algorithm and the Receptance Coupling Substructure Analysis (RCSA) method, the milling force and the tool tip vibration during the face gear machining process are investigated. Both iron overload and iron deficiency have been reported in obesity and metabolic syndromes. Due to the presence of multiple intracellular iron pools and the dynamic nature of iron mobilization and use, the actual status and contribution of free and metabolically active iron toward metabolic syndrome remain to be established. The discovery of nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA4) as a ferritinophagy receptor provides an opening to address the connection between iron and metabolic diseases. This study aims to specifically dissect the role of hepatic ferritinophagy in lipid metabolism and hepatic steatosis. We conducted a series of Ncoa4 gain‐ and loss‐of‐function experiments to examine how ferritinophagy affects lipid metabolism through phenotypic and lipidomic analyses both in vitro and in vivo. We show that ferritinophagy is required to release iron from ferritin cages for biological use, and is induced by lipid loading in vitro and during the development of obesity in vivo. Ncoa4 knockdown impairs mitochondrial morphology and reduces palmitate‐induced lipid droplet formation in cultured cells and the development of hepatic steatosis in obese mice models. Importantly, the effect of Ncoa4 deficiency on mitochondrial morphology and lipid accumulation is specifically linked to lipidomic reductions in unsaturated fatty acid content in triglycerides and cardiolipins, and an external supply of unsaturated fatty acids reverses these phenotypes. Conclusion: This study shows that ferritinophagy‐derived iron supports fatty acid desaturation and the synthesis of unsaturated fatty acid–rich lipids to reduce lipotoxicity. Tungsten‐doped diamond‐like carbon (W‐DLC) films were prepared by magnetron sputtering, followed by annealing in the temperature range of 100–500°C. The effects of the annealing treatment on the chemical compositions, mechanical properties and tribological behaviours of annealed W‐DLC films with a base oil were tested by scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, x‐ray diffraction and nanoindenter tests. The results indicated that increasing the annealing temperature led to a decrease in the thicknesses and hardness values of the W‐DLC films due to the graphitization and oxidation of the film surfaces. However, the structures of the W‐DLC films annealed at 500°C were destroyed. Under poly‐alpha olefin lubrication, when the annealing temperature was lower than 300°C, the tribological properties of the W‐DLC films were stable. Molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate (MoDTC) is widely used as a friction modifier in engine lubricating oil. Under MoDTC lubrication, the friction and wear behaviors of tungsten-doped diamond-like carbon (W-DLC) films annealed at 100–400 °C were discussed and evaluated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and Raman spectroscopy. Under (polymerized alpha olefin) PAO + MoDTC lubrication, the coefficient of friction of all samples decreased, but the wear rates of the W-DLC films annealed at 300 °C increased significantly. By interacting with zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP), the wear rates of W-DLC films annealed at different temperatures declined significantly owing to the formation of dense phosphate tribofilms on the worn surfaces. Background: Progestin-primed ovarian stimulation (PPOS) has been used in infertility cases in recent years, and several reports have stated that it has oocyte collection results similar to those of gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRH-ant) protocol. For emergency fertility preservation, random-start ovarian stimulation is usually recommended. Therefore we compared the clinical outcomes of random-start PPOS with those of conventional random-start GnRH-ant protocols in fertility-preserving cases. Methods: We retrospectively examined 86 cycles of oocyte collection, of which 56 were random-start GnRH-ant and 30 were random-start PPOS for fertility preservation at our hospital between January 2016 and April 2021. The primary outcome was the number of mature oocytes per cycle. The secondary outcome was the number of vitrified blastocysts per cycle for embryo freezing cases. Results: No significant differences were noted in the number of days of stimulation, total dose of gonadotropin preparation, and the number of mature oocytes and vitrified blastocysts. The number of hospital visits for monitoring was significantly lower in the PPOS group. The start of menstruation before oocyte collection was significantly less in the PPOS group. Conclusions: Random-start PPOS and GnRH-ant were similar in oocyte collection results. PPOS can reduce the number of hospital visits, thus reducing patient stress. Background: Diabetic cognitive impairment (DCI) is a serious chronic complication caused by diabetes. The pathogenesis of DCI is complex, but brain nerve injury and brain nerve cell apoptosis are important pathological changes. Multimodal brain imaging is one of the most important techniques to study the neural mechanism of the brain. For the clinical treatment of DCI, there is no effective targeted Western medicine and a lack of clear drug intervention methods. Therefore, there is an urgent need to find effective complementary and alternative methods and clarify their mechanism. This research seeks to explore the multimodal brain imaging effect of "Adjust Zang-fu and Arouse Spirit" electroacupuncture for DCI.Methods: This clinical research will be a randomized, sham-controlled pilot trial. Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to the intervention group (n = 60) and the control group (n = 30). The intervention group will be divided into the "Adjust Zang-fu and Arouse Spirit" electroacupuncture group (n = 30) and sham electroacupuncture group (n = 30). All participants will continue to receive routine hypoglycemic therapy. The treatment period is the same in both groups. The primary outcomes include functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale (MoCA), and Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR). The secondary outcomes include blood glucose and blood lipid tests, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Scale (IADL), Hachinski Ischemic Scale (HIS), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS). Outcomes will be assessed at baseline and before and after treatment, and adverse events will be examined. Background: Painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (PDPN) has a great impact on an individual's quality of life. The current researchers' previous trial suggested that acupuncture was a promising adjunctive treatment for PDPN. However, the underlying mechanism of action of acupuncture treatment for PDPN is still unclear, especially its effects at the cerebral level. The aim of this trial will be to explore how acupuncture works in treating PDPN by using multimodal cerebral imaging.Method and Design: This will be a randomized controlled trial. A total of 150 participants will be recruited and assigned to one of three groups: the healthy group, the DM without PDPN group and the DM with PDPN group. Participants in the DM without PDPN and the DM with PDPN groups will each be further divided between an electroacupuncture group and a sham electroacupuncture group. Participants will receive six treatment sessions per week for 4 weeks. Multimodal cerebral imaging includes resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS); this neurophysiological testing will be the primary outcome measure. Subjective pain scales and blood analysis will be a secondary outcome measure and will be used to assess the clinical efficacy of the intervention. Multimodal cerebral imaging will be used to detect cerebral activity changes in each treatment group. The clinical data and fMRI data will be analysed for all the groups. Multiple correlation regression analyses will be used to assess the association between changes in cerebral functional activity and the improvement of clinical outcomes after acupuncture treatment.Discussion: This study is based on the results of the researchers' previous study, and using combined clinical and cerebral function changes, it will help evaluate the effects of acupuncture on PDPN. Based on the operation data of the hydrocracking unit, the simulation process of hydrogen sulfide removal stripper is constructed by Aspen Plus software, and ELECNRTL is used to simulate and optimize - 26 - the process of hydrogen sulfide removal of oil from low pressure separator. The effects of key parameters, such as stripping steam consumption, feed temperature and feed position of oil from cold low pressure separator, feed position of oil from hot low pressure separator, on hydrogen sulfide removal efficiency and energy consumption of stripper are investigated. The results show that under the existing operating conditions, the stripping steam is excessive, and the energy consumption is unreasonable. With the adjustment of feed position of oil from hot low pressure separator, the stripping steam consumption reduces from 3. 5 t/h to 1. 5 t/h. Combined with the comprehensive analysis of the heat exchange network of the unit, following the principles of high heat high utilization and energy cascading utilization, the improvement and optimization measures for the preheating process of oil from cold low pressure separator are put forward. Background: In the field of oncofertility, patients with breast cancer are often administered letrozole as an adjuvant drug before and after oocyte retrieval to prevent an increase in circulating estradiol.Case Presentation: We report a case of abdominal hemorrhage due to an ovarian rupture in a 29-year-old Japanese patient who restarted letrozole 2 days after an oocyte retrieval procedure in which 14 mature oocytes were retrieved. The patient had sought embryo cryopreservation as a fertility preservation option before undergoing treatment for recurrent breast cancer. A day after restarting letrozole treatment, the patient unexpectedly developed severe abdominal pain. Laparoscopic hemostasis was performed to manage the ovarian swelling and hemorrhage.Conclusions: The ovaries can be restimulated by restart letrozole after an oocyte retrieval procedure. Therefore, reproductive-medicine practitioners should understand the potential complications of letrozole administration in such cases and take steps to ensure that they are minimized. Introduction: Traditional Chinese acupuncture has been demonstrated to be beneficial for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The mechanism of acupuncture on T2DM is crucial for their biological activity as well as their usefulness as tools in biology and medicine. However, its mechanism is poorly understood. Methods: In an effort to explore the mechanism, eight db/db mice (a type of spontaneous T2DM mouse) were treated with adjusting internal organs and dredging channel electroacupuncture (AODCEA) for 2 weeks. Another eight db/db mice were fed as T2DM group (T2DMG), and eight db/m mice were set as normal control group (NCG). Lipopolysaccharide (LPS), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and diabetes-related indicators, such as fasting blood glucose (FBG) and triglyceride (TG), were detected by enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA). The V4 region of 16S rRNA gene was analyzed by Illumina sequencing to evaluate the effect of AODCEA on intestinal flora. The amount of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in the feces were determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Results: Our results indicate that AODCEA treatment can reduce diabetes-related indicators. We observed the increased probiotics such as Blautia and Lactobacillus and decreased opportunist pathogens (Alistipes, Helicobacter, Prevotella) by AODCEA interventions. Importantly, the total amount of SCFAs in the feces of T2DM mice was promoted by AODCEA. Finally, obviously alleviated systemic inflammation was exhibited through AODCEA treatment by detection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in serum. What is known and objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture through a review and analysis of systematic reviews of acupuncture for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods: Systematic reviews of acupuncture treatment for diabetic peripheral neuropathy were collected by searching CNKI, VIP, Wanfang database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), PubMed, Web of Science and the Cochrane Library. The retrieval period was from the establishment of the database to February 14, 2020. After literature selection and extraction, included reports were evaluated in terms of the quality of the methodology and of the report using criteria from the AMSTAR2 scale and the PRISMA statement. Results and discussion: Eighty eight reviews were retrieved. The inclusion criteria were a published systematic evaluation/meta‐analysis/systematic review of acupuncture treatment for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which included subjects meeting the diagnostic criteria for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and which compared acupuncture treatment with non‐acupuncture treatment. After the inclusion criteria had been applied, 18 reviews were finally included. According to the PRISMA statement, 3 reports were relatively complete, 12 reports had certain defects, 3 reports had considerable information missing, and 18 reports had extremely low methodological quality according to the AMSTAR2 scale. Current evidence shows that acupuncture improves diabetic peripheral neuropathy and increases nerve conduction velocity. However, the methodological quality of the reviews is generally extremely low, and most of the reviews had certain defects, showing that there is still much room for improvement in terms of the methodology and quality of the research reports. What is new and conclusion: Acupuncture appears to have an effect on DPN, effectively improving nerve conduction and clinical symptoms. Although the methodological quality of the included studies was generally very low and defects were frequent, our study highlights areas where improvement in methodology is required. There is a need for further study of the pathogenesis of DPN, and for developing a unified standard for methods of acupuncture treatment, acupoint selection, and adverse reactions reporting. Traditional Chinese medical practices such as acupuncture should adopt an evidence‐based approach to provide greater confidence in their use. Not all obstetric care facilities offer sufficient genetic counseling in Japan. When necessary, patients are referred to tertiary perinatal care centers for genetic counseling and further testing. Because each facility typically has an exclusive contract with a laboratory, the additional testing required may be performed at a different laboratory. With no reporting standards for normal chromosomal variants, differences between laboratories impede result interpretation, and clinical errors may occur. We present a case of a patient diagnosed with 46,XX,?dup (4)(p12p12) variant over two pregnancies. During the first pregnancy, the variant was determined to be a de novo, leading the parents to terminate the pregnancy. During the second pregnancy, further analysis revealed no 4p duplication, and we diagnosed as a normal variant, 4cenh+, inherited from the mother. Differences in reporting standards for a normal variant made evaluation of this patient difficult. Medical staff should be aware of this issue, and reporting standards should be standardized. Polyalphaolefin (PAO) oil is one of the most commonly-used based oil to decrease the fuel energy consumption of mechanical systems, like vehicles. Nevertheless, it heavily relies on environmental toxic organic additives with sulfur, phosphorus, and/or chlorine. Accordingly, nano-carbon materials, such as nano-diamond (ND), onion-like-carbon (OLC) and graphene (Gr.), was adopted to develop a novel kind of environmentally-friendly PAO-based lubricants with low toxic additives. Synergetic effects between nano-carbon materials and MoDTC additives were investigated to enhance friction-reduction and anti-wear performances of PAO oil with molybdenum di-thiocarbamate (MoDTC) additive. Experimental results show that ND and OLC additives are effective in the enhancement of friction-reduction and anti-wear performances of self-mated AISI 52100 steels lubricated under poly-alpha-olefin (PAO) oil with Mo-DTC additive, due to the formation of tribo-film consist of MoSx, polishing, ball-bearing and reinforcement effects of nano-particles. Via the addition of ND or OLC additive with a content of 0.05 wt.%, the optimized dosage of MoDTC additive can be significantly decreased from 1 to 0.1 wt.%. Friction coefficient of self-mated AISI 52100 steels lubricated under PAO oil with 0.1 wt.% Mo-DTC and 0.05 wt.% ND additive is about 0.05, approximately equal to that lubricated under PAO oil with 1 wt.% Mo-DTC additives. Moreover, ND additive resulted in a lower friction coefficient, better wear resistance (about 2.3 × 10− 16 m3/N m) and shorter duration of run-in period than OLC additive in PAO oil with MoDTC additive. Graphene is not helpful to enhance the friction-reduction and anti-wear performance of PAO oil with or without MoDTC, due to the absence of polishing, ball-bearing and reinforcement of nano-particles effects. Although, individual addition of OLC additive in PAO oil also caused friction-reduction effectiveness, serious wear damage occurred attributed to the abrasive of nano-particles. Background: Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is normally induced by ovarian stimulation drugs. Severe cases of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome involve complications such as renal failure and thrombosis. Evidence has recently been developed for a method to prevent ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Most cases of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome are of an early-onset type, which occurs shortly after injection of human chorionic gonadotropin. However, late-onset ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, which occurs in a pregnancy cycle, also requires caution. We report our experience in treating a woman who was transported to our hospital with a severe case of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome occurring during ovarian stimulation and who was determined to have an ectopic pregnancy.Case Presentation: Assisted reproductive technology was planned for a 29-year-old nulligravida Japanese woman diagnosed with bilateral fallopian tube obstruction and right-sided hydrosalpinx. On day 1 of controlled ovarian stimulation, the result of her human chorionic gonadotropin urine test was negative, and her serum levels of luteinizing hormone, estradiol, and progesterone were normal. On day 11 of controlled ovarian stimulation, the levels of estradiol and progesterone had risen to 9679 pg/ml and 16 ng/ml, respectively, prompting suspension of controlled ovarian stimulation. Eleven days after controlled ovarian stimulation was suspended, the patient demonstrated ascites that did not improve despite administration of cabergoline, and she was transported to our hospital 2 days after. Late-onset ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome suggested that she was pregnant, and her serum human chorionic gonadotropin level was 27,778 IU/ml. She underwent laparoscopic bilateral salpingectomy and was diagnosed with right tubal pregnancy.Conclusion: In an ectopic pregnancy, human chorionic gonadotropin sometimes increases later than in an intrauterine pregnancy. In our patient's case, endogenous human chorionic gonadotropin following the start of controlled ovarian stimulation may have caused late-onset ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Surface treatment is an effective factor in determining tribological performance, particularly for the condition of oil lubrication. Tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), and tungsten–molybdenum alloy (W-Mo) films were prepared on AISI 316L steel by ion beam–assisted deposition (IBAD). Tribological tests of the three modified surfaces using zinc dithiophosphate (ZDDP) lubrication were conducted on an SRV-2 tester and the tribochemical properties of different surfaces were analyzed. Surface analysis tools such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), nano-indentation, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to study the microstructure, hardness, and chemical characteristics of the tribofilms generated on the worn surfaces. The results showed that these three modified films had better antiwear and antifriction properties than the AISI 316L substrate using both poly-α-olefin (PAO) and ZDDP-containing PAO lubrication, and they had different tribochemical reactions with ZDDP that determined their tribological behaviors. Lanthanide coordination polymers (Ln-CPs) ([Eu(L)2(H2O)]Br·H2O)n (EuBr) and ([TbL2(H2O)2]Br·H2O)n (TbBr) have been synthesised and photoluminescence studies revealed that EuBr and TbBr exhibit a sensitive and fast luminescence quenching response to Fe3+ and picric acid (PA). The quenching effect constant (Ksv) of EuBr for Fe3+ can reach 3974 M−1 and that of TbBr can reach 4249 M−1. The Ksv of PA is calculated for EuBr as 17 000 M−1 and TbBr as 20 200 M−1. The recyclability experiment of the quenching ability of EuBr and TbBr in water can be tested at least 3 times. Thus, the lanthanide based coordination polymers are a good candidate for use as a multi-response luminescent sensor for the quantitative detection of toxic and hazardous substances in the environment. Background: High expression of collagen type X alpha 1 chain (COL10A1), a member of the collagen family, had been observed in various human cancers, but the detailed function and molecular mechanism of COL10A1 were largely unclear. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of COL10A1 in colorectal cancer (CRC) tissues and cells and to reveal its biological function and mechanism in CRC. Materials and methods: Immunohistochemistry (IHC), real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (QPCR) and Western blot experiments were used to determine the clinical relevance between expression levels of COL10A1 and CRC. Results: Compared with normal tissues, COL10A1 expression was significantly higher in CRC tissues. Biological functional experiments showed that overexpression of COL10A1 enhanced proliferation, migration, and invasion of CRC cells, and knockdown of COL10A1 inhibited tumorigenesis in vivo. Western blot assays showed that COL10A1 promoted the process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The overexpression of COL10A1 was associated with adverse prognosis in CRC by tissue microarray (TMA) analysis. Conclusion: Our findings had provided evidences to support the fact that COL10A1 was abnormally up-expressed in CRC and involved in the progression of CRC and the process of EMT. Furthermore, we demonstrated that the high-level expression of COL10A1 was an independent risk factor of prognosis and overall survival in CRC patients. This study aimed to develop software for multi-axis electrical discharge machining (EDM) computer numerical control (CNC) systems using open CNC technology and soft CNC technology and to then apply the software to the machining of rimmed turbine blisks. Through the analysis of functional requirements, this study established the hierarchy structure of the software. On the basis of this structure, three main modules and their communications were established with Linux and RT-Linux as the development platforms. The software architecture was also constructed. Through the construction of the modules and communications and the realization of the functions, the multi-axis EDM CNC system software was developed and installed into a five-axis EDM CNC machine to realize the machining of rimmed turbine blisks. Machining results show that the architecture of the software is correct, harmonious, and reasonable. Dense AlO-TiB-BC composites are synthesized by in situ reactive hot press sintering of BC with 20 wt% TiAl and TiAl at 1700 °C, respectively. The sinterability of BC is improved by the intermetallic compounds due to the formation of AlO and TiB. The sizes of AlO, TiB, and BC grains are less than 2.5 μm. The agglomerates of AlO and TiB particles tend to orientationally align in the direction perpendicular to the pressure axis. By incorporation of TiAl, the flexural strength and fracture toughness reach 482 MPa and 3.6 MPa m, respectively. When TiAl is added, the flexural strength is reduced to 408 MPa because of the thermal residual stress, while the fracture toughness is increased to 4.2 MPa·m. The increase of AlO in the composite can reduce the strength and enhance the toughness of the composite due to the thermal residual stress originated from the thermal expansion mismatch between BC and AlO. Strain NEAU-ST10-9 is a moderately halophilic, coccoid and non-motile bacterium isolated from saline and alkaline soils in the Dechang Township, Zhaodong City, China. The bacterium was found to be aerobic and Gram-stain positive. It forms orange colonies and grows at NaCl concentrations of 2-10 % (w/v) (optimum, 4 % w/v), at 4-50 °C (optimum, 30 °C) and at pH 6.0-10.0 (optimum, pH 7.0). Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that it belongs to the genus Planococcus within the family Planococcaceae. The most closely related species was Planococcus maritimus, whose type strain (TF-9) showed gene sequence similarities of 99.1 % for 16S rRNA, 83.7 % for gyrB and 87.0 % for rpoB with those of strain NEAU-ST10-9, respectively. DNA-DNA hybridization relatedness values between strain NEAU-ST10-9 and type strains P. maritimus DSM 17275 , P. rifietoensis DSM 15069 , P. plakortidis DSM 23997, P. citreus DSM 20549, P. maitriensis DSM 15305, P. salinarum KCTC 13584 and P. columbae DSM 17517 were from 55 ± 1 to 32 ± 2 %. The DNA G+C content was found to be 45.2 mol %. The major fatty acids (>5 %) were determined as C anteiso, C ω7c alcohol, C ω9c and C anteiso. The major menaquinones of strain NEAU-ST10-9 were identified as MK-7 and MK-8. The polar lipids were found to contain of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphocholine and two unknown lipids. The genotypic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic analysis indicated that strain NEAU-ST10-9 represents a novel species of the genus Planococcus, for which we proposed the name Planococcus dechangensis sp. nov. The novel species Halomonas zhaodongensis NEAU-ST10-25 recently identified by our group is a moderate halophile which can grow at the range of 0-2.5 M NaCl (optimum 0.5 M) and pH 6-12 (optimum pH 9). To explore its halo-alkaline tolerant mechanism, genomic DNA was screened from NEAU-ST10-25 in this study for Na(Li)/H antiporter genes by selection in Escherichia coli KNabc lacking three major Na(Li)/H antiporters. One mrp operon could confer tolerance of E. coli KNabc to 0.8 M NaCl and 100 mM LiCl, and an alkaline pH. This operon was previously mainly designated mrp (also mnh, pha or sha) due to its multiple resistance and pH-related activity. Here, we will also use mrp to designate the homolog from H. zhaodongensis (Hz_ mrp). Sequence analysis and protein alignment showed that Hz_ mrp should belong to Group 1 mrp operons. Further phylogenetic analysis reveals that Hz_Mrp system should represent a novel sub-class of Group 1 Mrp systems. This was confirmed by a significant difference in pH-dependent activity profile or the specificity and affinity for the transported monovalent cations between Hz_Mrp system and all the known Mrp systems. Background: Clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is one of the most common types of kidney cancer in adults; however, its causes are not completely understood. The study was designed to filter the key pathways and genes associated with the occurrence or development of ccRCC, acquaint its pathogenesis at gene and pathway level, to provide more theory evidence and targeted therapy for ccRCC. Methods: Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and meta-analysis (Meta) were used to screen the critical pathways and genes which may affect the occurrence and progression of ccRCC on the transcription level. Corresponding pathways of significant genes were obtained with the online website DAVID (). Results: Thirty seven consistent pathways and key genes in these pathways related to ccRCC were obtained with combined GSEA and meta-analysis. These pathways were mainly involved in metabolism, organismal systems, cellular processes and environmental information processing. Conclusion: The gene pathways that we identified could provide insight concerning the development of ccRCC. Further studies are needed to determine the biological function for the positive genes. A slightly halophilic bacterium (strain NEAU-ST10-25) was isolated from saline-alkaline soils in Zhaodong City, Heilongjiang Province, China. The strain is a Gram-negative, aerobic motile rod. It accumulates poly- β-hydroxyalkanoate and produces exopolysaccharide. It produces beige-yellow colonies. Growth occurs at NaCl concentrations (w/v) of 0-15 % (optimum 3 %), at temperatures of 4-60 °C (optimum 35 °C) and at pH 6-12 (optimum pH 9). Its G+C content is 53.8 mol%. Phylogenetic analyses based on the separate 16S rRNA gene and concatenation of the 16S rRNA, gyrB and rpoD genes indicate that it belongs to the genus Halomonas in the class Gammaproteobacteria. The most phylogenetically related species is Halomonas alkaliphila DSM 16354, with which strain NEAU-ST10-25 showed 16S rRNA, gyrB and rpoD gene sequence similarities of 99.2, 82.3 and 88.2 %, respectively. The results of DNA-DNA hybridization assays showed 60.47 ± 0.69 % DNA relatedness between strain NEAU-ST10-25 and H. alkaliphila DSM 16354, 42.43 ± 0.37 % between strain NEAU-ST10-25 and Halomonas venusta DSM 4743 and 30.62 ± 0.43 % between strain NEAU-ST10-25 and Halomonas hydrothermalis DSM 15725. The major fatty acids are C ω7c (62.3 %), C (17.6 %), C ω7c/C ω6c (7.7 %), C (2.9 %), C 3-OH (2.8 %), C (2.1 %) and C ω9c (1.6 %) and the predominant respiratory quinone is ubiquinone 9 (Q-9). In this study, metagenomic DNA was screened for the Na+/ H+ antiporter gene from the halophilic bacteria from Daban Salt Lake using Escherichia coli KNabc lacking three major Na+/ H+ antiporters, and two genes psmrAB predicted to encode paired small multidrug resistance ( PSMR) family proteins, the homolog of Yvd SR, were finally cloned. Only the simultaneous presence of psmrAB, but not the single gene alone, conferred the tolerance of E. coli KNabc to up to 0.6 M Na Cl and at alkaline pH. p H-dependent Na+( Li+)/ H+ antiport activity was detected from everted membrane vesicles prepared from E. coli KNabc cells carrying psmrAB, which had the highest activity at p H 9.0. However, a detailed test for antimicrobial drugs showed that E. coli DH5α with psmrAB only exhibited slight resistance to chloramphenicol, but not other representative antimicrobial drugs especially ethidium bromide. Protein sequence alignment showed that neither PsmrA nor PsmrB has homology with known single-gene or multiple-gene Na+/ H+ antiporters, or such proteins as TetA(L) and MdfA with Na+/ H+ antiport activity. Taken together, PsmrAB should function mainly as a novel two-component Na+/ H+ antiporter. This is the first example of a PSMR family member that exhibits Na+/ H+ antiporter activity. Some special silicate particles as additives in lubricating oil have shown a certain self-repairing function for the rubbing pairs of industrial equipment in recent R&D of extreme pressure antiwear additives. This article introduces an investigation on the regenerated layer on the worn surface of a practical cylinder liner lubricated by lubricating oil with a silicate additive using some advanced techniques like transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), nano-hardness tester, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), auger electron spectroscopy (AES), and Raman spectroscopy. The basic formula of the mineral in the silicate additive is Al4[Si4O10](OH)4. Through some macro- and microanalyses, it was found that the silicate additive showed an obvious improving effect on their friction surface and self-repairing function. The roughness of the worn surface could be decreased greatly to several tens of nanometers, and its hardness was still above 10GPa. The worn surface with some pits and cracks had been covered by a transparent regenerated layer, and the wear of cylinder liners was maintained at almost zero-wear level on average. The mechanism of the self-repairing function was approached. It was revealed that the silicate additive was acting as a catalyst to promote a series of complex tribochemical reactions to form a regenerated layer with amorphous carbon structure on the worn surface under high-friction temperature and pressure in the friction and wear process. The advent of microfluidic technologies has enabled a better recapitulation of in vitro tumor model with higher biological relevance over conventional monolayer assays. This work built upon a microfluidic system that supported the spontaneous aggregate formation of tumoral cells under flow-induced dynamic physical forces in a confined microchamber without additional matrix materials. Our findings indicated that fluidic streams significantly modulated the biological and architectural features of human breast adenocarcinoma cell (MCF-7), human hepatocarcinoma cell (HepG2), and human cervix adenocarcinoma cell (HeLa) with cell-type-dependent variation. The microfluidic platform was further integrated with a fluorescence detection and imaging system, allowing for non-invasive monitoring of cellular accumulation and spatial distribution of a chemotherapeutic agent, doxorubicin (DOX). The cytotoxic effects of DOX of various concentrations were determined and compared in MCF-7 cells in conventional two-dimensional (2D) static and microfluidic culture conditions. Dose-dependent response to DOX was noticed in both cultures, whereas tumor micronodules grown in microfluidic devices demonstrated significantly lower sensitivity to DOX at increased concentration. Nutrients stimulate the anabolic synthesis of proteins and lipids, but selective insulin resistance in obesity biases the anabolic program toward lipogenesis. Here, we report the identification of a DNAJB9-driven program that favors protein synthesis and energy production over lipid accumulation. We show there are two pools of DNAJB9 cochaperone. DNAJB9 in the ER lumen promotes the degradation of the lipogenic transcription factor SREBP1c through ERAD, whereas its counterpart on the ER membrane promotes the assembly of mTORC2 in the cytosol and stimulates the synthesis of proteins and ATP. The expression of Dnajb9 is induced by nutrients and downregulated in the obese mouse liver. Restoration of hepatic DNAJB9 expression effectively improves insulin sensitivity, restores protein synthesis, and suppresses food intake, accompanied by reduced hepatic steatosis and adiposity in multiple mouse models of obesity. Background: Kagami-Ogata syndrome is also known as paternal uniparental disomy 14 and related disorders and is caused by abnormal genomic imprinting in the long arm of the chromosome 14q32.2 region. Its clinical manifestations include polyhydramnios in the fetal stage, respiratory insufficiency because of a small thorax, abdominal wall abnormalities, and peculiar facial features after birth.Case Presentation: A 38-year-old Japanese primigravida woman was referred to our hospital in the 19th week of pregnancy for suspected omphalocele. She had a history of hypothyroidism but was prescribed orally administered levothyroxine (50 μg/day) prior to conception and was euthyroid. Her ultrasound scan prior to visiting our hospital revealed fetal omphalocele, heavy for date, and polyhydramnios. The mother was advised to be admitted for observation from 28 weeks of gestation for threatened premature delivery. She required amniodrainage at 29 and 32 weeks of gestation. At 35 weeks of gestation, the fetal membrane prematurely ruptured and she gave birth after an emergency Cesarean section. The infant was a male child with a birth weight of 3188 g, and was suspected to have Kagami-Ogata syndrome after birth based on thoracic hypoplasia, swallowing function abnormalities, and peculiar facial features. A definitive diagnosis was established by performing genetic testing of the infant after obtaining informed written consent from both the parents; the results of the genetic testing revealed hypermethylated intergenic-differentially methylated region and maternally expressed gene 3-differentially methylated region in the corresponding chromosome 14 region. Both the parents were genetically tested after adequate genetic counseling, which revealed a de novo microdeletion in a differentially methylated region.Conclusion: Kagami-Ogata syndrome should have been suspected because of the presence of polyhydramnios and omphalocele during pregnancy. Respiratory insufficiency soon after birth, because of a small thorax, is expected in this disease and a diagnosis during pregnancy may have enabled appropriate care after birth. The contribution of angiogenesis inhibitor TNP-470 to the growth and metastasis of ACHN renal cell carcinoma (RCC) was studied. TNP-470 (40 mg/kg, every two days) was administrated to BABL/c nude mice bearing ACHN RCC. The mice were sacrificed after a treatment duration of 31 days and the weight and volume of subcutaneous tumors as well as foci of lung metastasis were measured. The microvascular density (MVD) of the tumor as well as the PCNA index and apoptotic index of the tumor cells were evaluated immunohistochemically. Result showed that the growth of ACHN RCC was suppressed significantly and none metastasis was observed in TNP-470-treated mice. Compared with the control group, the MVD was decreased markedly ( P<0.01) and the apoptotic index was increased significantly ( P<0.01) in the treated group. The tumor volume was positively correlated to the MVD ( r=0.7144, P<0.01) and inversely correlated to the apoptotic index ( r=−0.8607, P<0.01), and MVD was conversely correlated to the apoptotic index. It was determined that TNP-470 could effectively inhibit angiogenesis of ACHN RCC, which resulting in ischemia and hypoxia, leading to increased apoptosis, thus obviously suppressing the growth and metastasis of ACHN RCC in nude mice. Background: 17α-Hydroxylase deficiency is a recessively inherited autosomal disease caused by mutations in the CYP17A1 gene. It is a rare disease and accounts for approximately 1% of congenital adrenal cortex hyperplasias. Inhibition of 17α-hydroxylase causes low levels of cortisol and high levels of adrenocorticotropic hormone in the blood as well as excessive levels of mineralocorticoids that lead to hypertension and hypokalemia. Usually, the female patients are diagnosed with abnormality of the genitalia or extra genitalia, primary amenorrhea, or hypertension in puberty. We report a case of a 29-year-old woman who had undergone gonadectomy in her childhood due to complete androgen insensitivity syndrome and was diagnosed with 17α-hydroxylase deficiency in adulthood.Case Presentation: Our patient was a Japanese female diagnosed with androgen insensitivity syndrome, and both gonadectomy and episioplasty were performed at the age of 11 years at the University of Tsukuba Hospital. Thereafter, she was transferred to our hospital at the age of 21 years for vaginoplasty. At the age of 25 years, she presented with hypertension followed by complicated hypokalemia at the age of 28 years. The captopril loading test and adrenocorticotropic hormone loading test of her adrenal steroidogenesis revealed primary aldosteronism. After sufficient genetic counseling, a genetic test was performed that identified her as having CYP17A1 gene mutation.Conclusions: The differential diagnosis of disorders of sex development can be difficult at a young age without complete expression of the phenotype. However, diagnosis at a later age would change the treatment and prognosis of the disease; therefore, a genetic examination should be considered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
