Abstract

The article presents a research study that investigated the role of adrenergic receptors and hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1a protein in catecholamine-induced vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression and angiogenesis. A background on the effects of stress and other behavioral conditions in cancer progression is provided along with the materials and methods employed in the study. Results are discussed including the induction of VEGF expression and HIF-1a protein amount by norepinephrine (NE), and the criticality of HIF-1a protein.
