The entanglement of the momentum of light with its spin at interfaces or inside structured media, known as the photonic spin‐Hall effect, holds great promise for various applications, such as beam splitting, focusing, and polarization detection. However, the photonic spin‐Hall effect remains unexplored in the field of logic operation. In this work, the photonic spin‐Hall effect of spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) in programmable metamaterial is demonstrated. Moreover, photonic spin‐Hall logic devices based on programmable spoof plasmonic metamaterial are designed, enabling the control of energy flow through the utilization of both spin and digital coding, with examples including SSPPs logic gates such as the "AND" gate, the "NIMPLY" gate (A AND NOT B), the "OR" gate, and the "NOT" gate. The findings introduce the combination of digital coding metamaterial with the photonic spin Hall effect, which offers a powerful and flexible platform for controlling electromagnetic waves in information processing. Background: In recent years, with benefits from the continuous improvement of clinical technology and the advantage of fertility preservation, the application of embryo cryopreservation has been growing rapidly worldwide. However, amidst this growth, concerns about its safety persist. Numerous studies have highlighted the elevated risk of perinatal complications linked to frozen embryo transfer (FET), such as large for gestational age (LGA) and hypertensive disorders during pregnancy. Thus, it is imperative to explore the potential risk of embryo cryopreservation and its related mechanisms. Methods: Given the strict ethical constraints on clinical samples, we employed mouse models in this study. Three experimental groups were established: the naturally conceived (NC) group, the fresh embryo transfer (Fresh-ET) group, and the FET group. Blastocyst formation rates and implantation rates were calculated post-embryo cryopreservation. The impact of FET on fetal growth was evaluated upon fetal and placental weight. Placental RNA-seq was conducted, encompassing comprehensive analyses of various comparisons (Fresh-ET vs. NC, FET vs. NC, and FET vs. Fresh-ET). Results: Reduced rates of blastocyst formation and implantation were observed post-embryo cryopreservation. Fresh-ET resulted in a significant decrease in fetal weight compared to NC group, whereas FET reversed this decline. RNA-seq analysis indicated that the majority of the expression changes in FET were inherited from Fresh-ET, and alterations solely attributed to embryo cryopreservation were moderate. Unexpectedly, certain genes that showed alterations in Fresh-ET tended to be restored in FET. Further analysis suggested that this regression may underlie the improvement of fetal growth restriction in FET. The expression of imprinted genes was disrupted in both FET and Fresh-ET groups. Conclusion: Based on our experimental data on mouse models, the impact of embryo cryopreservation is less pronounced than other in vitro manipulations in Fresh-ET. Graphene-based nanostructures loaded with transitional metallic atoms have been identified as promising materials for hydrogen storage. In this study, we investigate the adsorption and spillover of hydrogen on a single transitional metal atom incorporated graphene (TM-Gr) through density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Specifically, we explore the geometric and electronic properties of 20 different TM-Gr structures. Our findings reveal that Y-Gr and Sc-Gr exhibit the most favorable H atom adsorption, while Mn-Gr and Cr-Gr are more suitable for H spillover. Additionally, feature importance analysis highlights that Bader charge accumulated in H atom, C-H bond length, and work function of TM-Gr are the three most important features that are sensitive to the activation energy of H spillover. Introduction: Alternol is a natural compound isolated from the fermentation of a mutated fungus. We have demonstrated its potent anti-cancer effect via the accumulation of radical oxygen species (ROS) in prostate cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. In this study, we tested its anti-cancer spectrum in multiple platforms. Methods: We first tested its anti-cancer spectrum using the National Cancer Institute-60 (NCI-60) screening, a protein quantitation-based assay. CellTiter-Glo screening was utilized for ovarian cancer cell lines. Cell cycle distribution was analyzed using flow cytometry. Xenograft models in nude mice were used to assess anti-cancer effect. Healthy mice were tested for the acuate systemic toxicity. Results: Our results showed that Alternol exerted a potent anti-cancer effect on 50 (83%) cancer cell lines with a GI50 less than 5 µMand induced a lethal response in 12 (24%) of those 50 responding cell lines at 10 µM concentration. Consistently, Alternol displayed a similar anti-cancer effect on 14 ovarian cancer cell lines in an ATP quantitation-based assay. Most interestingly, Alternol showed an excellent safety profile with a maximum tolerance dose (MTD) at 665 mg/kg bodyweight in mice. Its therapeutic index was calculated as 13.3 based on the effective tumorsuppressing doses from HeLa and PC-3 cell-derived xenograft models. Background: Alternol is a small molecular compound isolated from the fermentation of a mutant fungus obtained from Taxus brevifolia bark. Our previous studies showed that Alternol treatment induced reactive oxygen species (ROS)-dependent immunogenic cell death. This study conducted a comprehensive investigation to explore the mechanisms involved in Alternol-induced immunogenic cell death. Methods: Prostate cancer PC-3, C4-2, and 22RV1 were used in this study. Alternol interaction with heat shock proteins (HSP) was determined using CETSA assay. Alternol-regulated ER stress proteins were assessed with Western blot assay. Extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) was measured using ATPlite Luminescence Assay System. Results: Our results showed that Alternol interacted with multiple cellular chaperone proteins and increased their expression levels, including endoplasmic reticulum (ER) chaperone hypoxia up-regulated 1 (HYOU1) and heat shock protein 90 alpha family class B member 1 (HSP90AB1), as well as cytosolic chaperone heat shock protein family A member 8 (HSPA8). These data represented a potential cause of unfolded protein response (UPR) after Alternol treatment. Further investigation revealed that Alternol treatment triggered ROSdependent (ER) stress responses via R-like ER kinase (PERK), inositol-requiring enzyme 1a (IRE1a). The double-stranded RNA-dependent protein kinase (PKR) but not activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) cascades, leading to ATF-3/ATF-4 activation, C/EBP-homologous protein (CHOP) overexpression, and X-box binding protein XBP1 splicing induction. In addition, inhibition of these ER stress responses cascades blunted Alternol-induced extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) release, one of the classical hallmarks of immunogenic cell death. Microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) is a potential method for ground improvement. It can enhance the physical and mechanical properties of soils through soil particle cementation and pore filling. However, the excessive number of injections of cementing solution required for MICP is a major limitation for practical engineering application. To reduce the number of injections and improve the efficiency of the cementing process, an enhancement method was investigated in this study in which an aluminum ion flocculant (AIF) was added to the cementing solution. It can enhance the curing rate and effect of MICP. Experiments were carried out on MICP-treated sand columns, MICP-treated glass beads and aqueous solutions, and the influence of AIF on the production of calcium carbonate and unconfined compressive strength (UCS) was studied. The effect of AIF on the composition and morphology of the deposited calcium carbonate was evaluated from SEM micrographs and other microscopic observations. The results of the study showed that the addition of AIF to the cementing solution significantly reduced the number of injections required and increased the UCS of the reinforcement compared to those of a control group without adding AIF. The proposed method resulted in the experimental sand column being reinforced after 3 treatments of the cementing solution with an UCS of 323.3 kPa. The UCS reaches 1692 kPa after 5 treatments of the cementing solution, compared to 9 treatments using the conventional method. Lanthanide-doped nanoparticles (LnNPs) show unique optical properties and have been demonstrated in various applications, including imaging, optogenetics, photothermal therapy, photodynamic therapy, light-controlled release/cross-linking, anticounterfeiting, lasing, sensing, and super-resolution microscopy. One of the key and urgent limitations of LnNPs is the weak and narrow absorption of lanthanides. Fabrication of heterostructures will overcome this hurdle and enhance the performance of LnNPs. Developing novel heterostructures to enhance the absorption of lanthanides and studying the energy transfer pathways and efficiencies are of broad interest to the chemical and physical research community. There is currently no systematic review to summarize different types of LnNP heterostructures. Thus, this review will summarize five types of heterostructures combining LnNPs with organic and inorganic dyes, plasmonics, semiconducting quantum dots, and metal–organic frameworks. The enhancement of absorption and the improvement of light conversion performance are compared and discussed. This review also discusses the energy transfer pathways and efficiencies between LnNPs and other components and provides suggestions to form heterostructures with enhanced absorption and efficient energy transfer for future applications. We hope this review will further inspire active development and study of lanthanide-based heterostructures with stronger absorption, better light conversion performance, and ease of multifunctionality. The heavy-atom effect usually quenches fluorescence, but scarcely enhances it. Herein, fluorescence turn-on sensors without or with a bromine atom for F- detection are presented, achieving fast response time within 1 min, and the LODs of 1.9 × 10-7 and 8.5 × 10-8 M, reflecting that halogen atom introduction is beneficial for F- detection ability improvement. The sensing mechanism of -OH unit deprotonation is confirmed based on the results of a 1: 2 stoichiometric ratio, ¹H NMR titration and TD-DFT calculation. Electrocatalytic alkyne semihydrogenation under mild conditions is a more attractive approach for alkene production than industrial routes but suffers from either low production efficiency or high energy consumption. Here, we describe a tandem catalytic concept that overcomes these challenges. Component (i), which can trap hydrogen effectively, is partnered with component (ii), which can readily release hydrogen for hydrogenation, to enable efficient generation of active hydrogen on component (i) at low overpotentials and timely (i)‐to‐(ii) hydrogen spillover and facile desorptive hydrogenation on component (ii). We examine this concept over bicomponent palladium‐copper catalysts for the production of representative 2‐methyl‐3‐butene‐2‐ol (MBE) from 2‐methyl‐3‐butyne‐2‐ol (MBY) and achieve a record high MBE production rate of 1.44 mmol h−1 cm−2 and a Faraday efficiency of ~88.8 % at a low energy consumption of 1.26 kWh kgMBE−1. Purpose: The cryopreservation process damages oocytes and impairs development potential. As a potent antioxidant, C-phycocyanin (PC) regulates reproductive performance. However, its beneficial effects on vitrified human oocytes remain unknown. Methods: In this study, human GV-stage oocytes obtained from controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) cycles were randomly allocated to three groups: fresh oocyte without freezing (F group), vitrification in medium supplemented with PC (P group), and vitrification in medium without PC as control group (C group). After warming, viable oocytes underwent in vitro maturation. Results: Our results showed that 3 μg/mL PC treatment increased the oocyte maturation rate after cryopreservation. We also found that PC treatment maintains the regular morphological features of oocytes. After PC treatment, confocal fluorescence staining showed a significant increase in the mitochondrial membrane potential of the vitrified oocytes, along with a notable decrease in intracellular reactive oxygen species and the early apoptosis rate. Finally, after in vitro maturation and parthenogenetic activation, vitrified oocytes had a higher potential for cleavage and blastocyst formation after PC treatment. Conclusion: Our results suggest that PC improves the developmental potential of cryopreserved human GV-stage oocytes by attenuating oxidative stress and early apoptosis and increasing the mitochondrial membrane potential. Mixed carbon sources have been developed for denitrification to eliminate the "carbon dependency" problem of single carbon. The metabolic correlation between different carbon sources is significant as guidance for the development of novel mixed carbon sources. In this study, to explore the metabolic similarity of denitrifying carbon sources, we selected alcohols (methanol, ethanol, and glycerol) and saccharide carbon sources (glucose, sucrose, and starch). Batch denitrification experiments revealed that methanol-acclimated sludge improved the denitrification rate of both methanol (14.42 mg-N/gMLVSS*h) and ethanol (9.65 mg-N/gMLVSS*h), whereas ethanol-acclimated sludge improved the denitrification rate of both methanol (7.80 mg-N/gMLVSS*h) and ethanol (22.23 mg-N/gMLVSS*h). In addition, the glucose-acclimated sludge and sucrose-acclimated sludge possibly improved the denitrification rate of glucose and sucrose, and the glycerol-acclimated sludge improved the denitrification rate of volatile fatty acids (VFAs), alcohols, and saccharide carbon sources. Functional gene analysis revealed that methanol, ethanol, and glycerol exhibited active alcohol oxidation and glyoxylate metabolism, and glycerol, glucose, and sucrose exhibited active glycolysis metabolism. This indicated that the similarity in the denitrification metabolism of these carbon sources was based on functional gene similarity, and glycerol-acclimated sludge exhibited the most diverse metabolism, which ensured its good denitrification effect with other carbon sources. Objective: To investigate the correlation of serum osteopontin levels with disease severity and prognosis in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods: This retrospective analysis included forty patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI) admitted to the Department of Neurology of Baoding Children's Hospital from May, 2019 to May, 2022 within 24 hours of onset were selected as the observation group, while 40 healthy subjects in our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. The correlation between serum Osteopontin (OPN) levels and risk factors on one day, seven days and 14 days was analyzed. Patients in the observation group were subdivided into the good prognosis group and the poor prognosis group according to mRS score, and the serum OPN levels of the two groups were compared. The correlation between serum OPN and disease severity and prognosis of patients with ACI was analyzed. Results: The serum OPN levels in the observation group were significantly higher than those in control group (P< 0.05), and its level was positively correlated with NIHSS score and infarct size. The proportion of patients with hyperlipidemia, smoking, drinking, hypertension and OPN level on seven day in the poor prognosis group were higher than those in the good prognosis group (P<0.05). The OPN level > 8.720 ng/ml on seven days was an independent risk factor for poor prognosis of cerebral infarction. Conclusion: OPN is involved in the entire pathophysiological process of ACI, and its level can predict the severity of the disease in patients with ACI, and can be used as an important indicator for evaluating their clinical prognosis. Highly sensitive surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors have recently been recognized as a promising tool for various industrial and medical applications. However, existing SAW sensors generally suffer from a complex design, large size, and poor robustness. In this paper, we develop a simple and stable delay line ultra-high frequency (UHF) SAW sensor for highly sensitive detection of temperature. A Z-shaped delay line is specially designed on the piezoelectric substrate to improve the sensitivity and reduce the substrate size. Herein, the optimum design parameters of extremely short-pitch interdigital transducers (IDTs) are given by numerical simulations. The extremely short pitch gives the SAW sensor ultra-high operating frequency and consequently ultra-high sensitivity. Several experiments are conducted to demonstrate that the sensitivity of the Z-shaped SAW delay line sensor can reach up to 116.685°/°C for temperature detection. Pastures play vital roles in carbon (C) sequestration and the global C balance. Partial root-zone drying (PRD) is widely known to reduce water consumption with a minimum impact on alfalfa productivity in the field. A 2-year field experiment was used to investigate the effects of PRD on C retention in the soil-plant systems of alfalfa. This field experiment consisted of two factors (irrigation modes and irrigation volumes) in a split-plot design. The two irrigation modes were PRD and conventional furrow irrigation, and the four irrigation levels were 70%, 85%, 100%, and 115% alfalfa potential evapotranspiration. This study showed that PRD increased the C in alfalfa plants due to higher C in alfalfa roots. PRD led to higher soil organic C storage, whereas it led to lower soil total C and soil inorganic C storage. PRD was found to decrease the C retention in the soil-plant systems of alfalfa. The findings of this study display a pattern of PRD influencing C retention in the soil-plant systems of perennial crops, and imply that PRD reduces the C sequestration potential of alfalfa pastures. Killer meiotic drivers (KMDs) skew allele transmission in their favor by killing meiotic progeny not inheriting the driver allele. Despite their widespread presence in eukaryotes, the molecular mechanisms behind their selfish behavior are poorly understood. In several fission yeast species, single-gene KMDs belonging to the wtf gene family exert selfish killing by expressing a toxin and an antidote through alternative transcription initiation. Here we investigate how the toxin and antidote products of a wtf-family KMD gene can act antagonistically. Both the toxin and the antidote are multi-transmembrane proteins, differing only in their N-terminal cytosolic tails. We find that the antidote employs PY motifs (Leu/Pro-Pro-X-Tyr) in its N-terminal cytosolic tail to bind Rsp5/NEDD4 family ubiquitin ligases, which ubiquitinate the antidote. Mutating PY motifs or attaching a deubiquitinating enzyme transforms the antidote into a toxic protein. Ubiquitination promotes the transport of the antidote from the trans-Golgi network to the endosome, thereby preventing it from causing toxicity. A physical interaction between the antidote and the toxin enables the ubiquitinated antidote to translocate the toxin to the endosome and neutralize its toxicity. We propose that post-translational modification-mediated protein localization and/or activity changes may be a common mechanism governing the antagonistic duality of single-gene KMDs. Microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) is an immensely growing technique that utilizes the metabolic pathways of bacteria to form calcite precipitation throughout the soil matrix, leading to improve geotechnical engineering properties. However, the excessive number of treatments limited the application of MICP for strengthening calcareous sand. To reduce the number of treatments and develop efficiencies, this paper investigates the optimized treatment protocol of adding aluminum ion flocculants to the cementing solution to accelerate the curing rate of the MICP and its effect. The results show that adding a certain concentration of AlCl3 to the cementing solution can resulted in a rapid increase in strength of the calcareous sand column. When 0.02 M aluminum chloride was added to the cementing solution, the unconfined compressive strength of the sand column reached 827 kPa after three treatments, and it reached 2 MPa after five treatments, while the control group needed to be treated 10 and 15 times, respectively, to reach equivalent strengths. In this paper, the unconfined compressive strength of the sand column formed using the proposed method was 27–40 times that of the control group at the same calcium carbonate content. Selective macroautophagy of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the nucleus, known as ER-phagy and nucleophagy, respectively, are processes whose mechanisms remain inadequately understood. Through an imaging-based screen, we find that in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, Yep1 (also known as Hva22 or Rop1), the ortholog of human REEP1-4, is essential for ER-phagy and nucleophagy but not for bulk autophagy. In the absence of Yep1, the initial phase of ER-phagy and nucleophagy proceeds normally, with the ER-phagy/nucleophagy receptor Epr1 coassembling with Atg8. However, ER-phagy/nucleophagy cargos fail to reach the vacuole. Instead, nucleus- and cortical-ER-derived membrane structures not enclosed within autophagosomes accumulate in the cytoplasm. Intriguingly, the outer membranes of nucleus-derived structures remain continuous with the nuclear envelope-ER network, suggesting a possible outer membrane fission defect during cargo separation from source compartments. We find that the ER-phagy role of Yep1 relies on its abilities to self-interact and shape membranes and requires its C-terminal amphipathic helices. Moreover, we show that human REEP1-4 and budding yeast Atg40 can functionally substitute for Yep1 in ER-phagy, and Atg40 is a divergent ortholog of Yep1 and REEP1-4. Our findings uncover an unexpected mechanism governing the autophagosomal enclosure of ER-phagy/nucleophagy cargos and shed new light on the functions and evolution of REEP family proteins. We investigated the effect of mRNA-VEGF@ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide (USPIO) nanoparticles on the repair of human brain microvascular endothelial cell (HBMECs) injury and its related mechanisms. mRNA-VEGF@USPIO nanoparticles were designed, prepared, and characterized using NTA and UV spectrophotometry. Cell viability was determined using the CCK-8. Cells in the control, TNF-α, and mRNA-VEGF@USPIO groups were sequenced and the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified. Finally, a functional analysis of the DEGs was performed. Both NTA and spectrophotometry results indicated that mRNA-VEGF@USPIO was successfully constructed. TNF-α significantly reduced cell viability and promoted apoptosis compared with the control group (p < 0.05), whereas mRNA-VEGF@USPIO nanoparticles reversed the changes caused by TNF-α. Via sequencing, 9063 DEGs were identified between the control and TNF-α groups, 9125 DEGs were identified between the control and mRNA-VEGF@USPIO groups, and 211 DEGs were identified between the TNF-α and mRNA-VEGF@USPIO groups. Additionally, 71 overlapping DEGs were identified in the three groups using Venn diagrams. These overlapping DEGs were mainly enriched in cytokine-cytokine receptor interactions and the TNF signaling pathway, NF-κB signaling pathway, and NOD-like receptor signaling pathway. Tunable liquid lenses with controllable focal length attract much attention from many researchers due to the unique advantages of strong adjustability, low power consumption, fast response time, and easy integration. In the last two decades, tunable liquid lenses have already been applied in machine vision, code scanner cameras, cellphone cameras, webcams, microscopes, mini projectors, AR/VR displays, 3D displays, and so on. There is no doubt that the tunable liquid lenses play an increasingly more important role in the field of optical technology. In this review, the research background and significance of the tunable liquid lenses are introduced. Tunable liquid lenses are systematically qualified according to the driving mechanism, and their current status and latest progress are presented in detail. Background and aim: Previous studies have reported an association between gut microbiota and cirrhosis. However, the causality between intestinal flora and liver cirrhosis still remains unclear. In this study, bi-directionalMendelian randomization (MR) analysis was used to ascertain the potential causal effect between gut microbes and cirrhosis. Methods: Large-scale Genome Wide Association Study (GWAS) data of cirrhosis and gut microbes were obtained from FinnGen, Mibiogen consortium, and a GWAS meta-analysis of Alcoholic cirrhosis (ALC). Two-sample MR was performed to determine the causal relationship between gut microbiota and cirrhosis. Furthermore, a bi-directional MR analysis was employed to examine the direction of the causal relations. Result: In MR analysis, we found that 21 gut microbiotas were potentially associated with cirrhosis. In reverse MR analysis, 11 gut microbiotas displayed potentially associations between genetic liability in the gut microbiome and cirrhosis. We found that the family Lachnospiraceae (OR: 1.59, 95% CI:1.10-2.29) might be harmful in cirrhotic conditions (ICD-10: K74). Furthermore, the genus Erysipelatoclostridium might be a protective factor for cirrhosis (OR:0.55, 95% CI:0.34-0.88) and PBC (OR:0.68, 95% CI:0.52-0.89). Combining the results from the MR analysis and reverse MR analysis, we firstly identified the Genus Butyricicoccus had a bi-directional causal effect on PBC (Forward: OR: 0.37, 95% CI:0.15-0.93; Reverse: OR: 1.03, 95% CI:1.00-1.05). Conclusion: We found a new potential causal effect between cirrhosis and intestinal flora and provided new insights into the role of gut microbiota in the pathological progression of liver cirrhosis. 2D polyphase molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has become a popular material for energy conversion and interdisciplinary applications. Because of the charge transfer (CT) and band bending at the interface, the construction of MoS2 heterostructures (HSs) and heterophases (HPs) may offer new avenues toward the artificial manipulation of carriers, excitons and light at the atomic level, which is key to catalytic/photoelectrical properties. However, few papers have analyzed the carrier dynamics and optical responses of HSs and HPs from the perspective of their composition and interaction effects. Here, we review the ongoing efforts in tailoring the properties of MoS2 in the energy conversion field by forming heterogeneous interfaces. First, the basic knowledge of MoS2 is briefly introduced. Then, recent progress in the design, properties and preparation of MoS2 HSs and HPs is discussed in detail. The design concepts are highlighted from the perspective of band and geometric matching. Emphasis is placed on the component/thickness/stack orientation dependent carrier dynamics and optical responses. Finally, the applications of these materials based on the enhanced catalytic/photoelectronic properties are summarized. We hope that this review will help beginners understand how to effectively customize the physical/chemical properties of MoS2 by carrier modulation and bandgap design, facilitate the development of new and improved MoS2-based structures, and assist in the application of low-dimensional HSs and HPs in more fields. Innovation is the first driving force leading economic development, and small and medium-sized enterprises have strategic significance in stimulating innovation activity and promoting economic growth. Few studies concentrating on small and medium-sized businesses examine the connection between executive incentive contracts and business innovation. Therefore, we use them as the research object in this study. We empirically analyze the relationship between executive incentive contracts and enterprise innovation using the research sample of small and medium-sized board-listed companies from 2009 to 2020, focusing on long-term equity and short-term pay incentives. The study also analyzes if the corporate environment will impact a specific motivational system. The results show that improving executive shareholding and pay level can significantly promote enterprise innovation. The areas with better business environments mean practical innovation. Otherwise, organizational equity and pay incentives positively affect innovation in non-state-owned enterprises. This effect might increase the business environment compared to state-owned enterprises. Meanwhile, information transparency is improved by equity incentives and pay incentives, and the implementation intensity of equity incentives reduces the degree of financialization. By demonstrating how CEO equity and pay incentives affect corporate innovation, this study adds to the body of literature in that field. It also offers empirical evidence to assist corporations in creating the most corporate equality and pay incentives. Methamphetamine (METH) abuse is known to cause executive dysfunction. However, the molecular mechanism underlying METH induced executive dysfunction remains unclear. Go/NoGo experiment was performed in mice to evaluate METH-induced executive dysfunction. Immunoblot analysis of Nuclear factor-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), phosphorylated Nrf2 (p-Nrf2), heme-oxygenase-1 (HO-1), Glucose Regulated Protein 78(GRP78), C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP), Bcl-2, Bax and Caspase3 was performed to evaluate the levels of oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and apoptosis in the dorsal striatum (Dstr). Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity was conducted to evaluate the level of oxidative stress. TUNEL staining was conducted to detect apoptotic neurons. The animal Go/NoGo testing confirmed that METH abuse impaired the inhibitory control ability of executive function. Meanwhile, METH down-regulated the expression of p-Nrf2, HO-1 and GSH-Px and activated ER stress and apoptosis in the Dstr. Microinjection of Tert-butylhydroxyquinone (TBHQ), an Nrf2 agonist, into the Dstr increased the expression of p-Nrf2, HO-1, and GSH-Px, ameliorated ER stress, apoptosis and executive dysfunction caused by METH. Our results indicated that the p-Nrf2/HO-1 pathway was potentially involved in mediating methamphetamine-induced executive dysfunction by inducing endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis in the dorsal striatum. Prostate cancer (PCa) is a prevalent malignancy with increasing incidence in middle-aged and older men. Despite various treatment options, advanced metastatic PCa remains challenging with poor prognosis and limited effective therapies. Nanomedicine, with its targeted drug delivery capabilities, has emerged as a promising approach to enhance treatment efficacy and reduce adverse effects. Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) stands as one of the most distinctive and highly selective biomarkers for PCa, exhibiting robust expression in PCa cells. In this review, we explore the applications of PSMAtargeted nanomedicines in advanced PCa management. Our primary objective is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge nanomedicine research and clinical practice, making it accessible to the medical community. We discuss mainstream treatment strategies for advanced PCa, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy, in the context of PSMA-targeted nanomedicines. Additionally, we elucidate novel treatment concepts such as photodynamic and photothermal therapies, along with nano-theragnostics. We present the content in a clear and accessible manner, appealing to general physicians, including those with limited backgrounds in biochemistry and bioengineering. The review emphasizes the potential benefits of PSMA-targeted nanomedicines in enhancing treatment efficiency and improving patient outcomes. While the use of PSMA-targeted nano-drug delivery has demonstrated promising results, further investigation is required to comprehend the precise mechanisms of action, pharmacotoxicity, and long-term outcomes. By meticulous optimization of the combination of nanomedicines and PSMA ligands, a novel horizon of PSMA-targeted nanomedicine-based combination therapy could bring renewed hope for patients with advanced PCa. Microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) technology holds great potential in enhancing soil properties. MICP can be employed to enhance the stability and strength of diverse sandy soil, but it has the shortcoming of low curing efficiency. In response to the identified problem, this study aims to investigate an optimized treatment protocol that involves formulating a cementing solution in a hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution to enhance the solidification rate in the MICP reaction and evaluate its effectiveness. The results indicate that when preparing a 1 M cementing solution in a 0.2 M HCl solution, it promotes the rapid bonding of calcareous sand particles, resulting in an unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of 1312.6 kPa in the sand column after five treatments. Compared to the conventional test group, the experimental group containing HCl exhibited an approximately 1357% increase in UCS. The analysis unveiled the pivotal role of metal ions dissolved from calcareous sand by HCl in enhancing the UCS of MICP-treated calcareous sand. In this paper, performance of ZrO2 and CeO2 supported Ni catalysts on CO2 hydrogenation reaction was investigated in continuous flow reactor. The results revealed that Ni/ZrO2 catalyst exhibited superior performance compared to Ni/CeO2, with a CO2 conversion rate of 71.84%, a CH4 formation rate of 21.03 mmol g−1 h−1, and excellent reaction stability at 400 °C. And the activation energy of Ni/ZrO2 was lower than that of Ni/CeO2. N2 adsorption–desorption, SEM, XRD, XPS, CO2-TPD and O2-TPO analysis results suggest that Ni/ZrO2 is a multi-stage pore material, which has slit holes formed by the accumulation of sheet-like particles, as well as a superior dispersion of Ni on ZrO2. Moreover, Ni/ZrO2 shows higher alkalinity and remarkable resistance to carbon accumulation. DFT calculations demonstrated that CO2 can be more easily adsorbed on ZrO2 surface, and one O-terminus of CO2 is closer to top sites of ZrO2, which is favorable for electron transfer and promotes the activation of CO2. Drought is one of the most significant abiotic stress threatening to crop production worldwide. Soybean is a major legume crop with immense economic significance, but its production is highly dependent on optimum rainfall or abundant irrigation. As the global climate changes, it is more important to find solutions to make plants more resilient to drought. The prime aimed of the study is to investigate the effect of melatonin on drought tolerance in soybean and its potential mechanisms. Soybean seedlings were treated with 20% polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG 6000) and subjected to osmotic stress (14 days) with or without 100 mM melatonin treatment. Our results revealed that melatonin supplementation significantly mitigated PEG-induced growth retardation and increased water absorption ability. Foliar application of melatonin also increased gas exchange and the chlorophyll fluorescence attributes by the mitigation of the osmotic-induced reduction of the reaction activity of photosystems I and II, net photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs), transpiration rate (Tr), electron transport activity, and photosynthetic efficiency. In addition, PEG-induced elevated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) content were significantly reversed by melatonin treatment. Equally important, melatonin boosted the antioxidant activities of soybean plants. Moreover, osmotic stress substantially increased abscisic acid (ABA) accumulation in roots and leaves, while melatonin-received plant leaves accumulated less ABA but roots content higher ABA. Similarly, melatonin significantly suppressed ABA biosynthesis and signaling gene expression in soybean exposed to drought stress. Furthermore, osmotic stress significantly suppressed plasmalemma (GmPIPs) and tonoplast aquaporin (GmTIPs) genes expression, and their transcript abundance was up regulated by melatonin co-addition. Taken together, our results indicated that melatonin potentially improves drought tolerance of soybean through the regulation of ABA and aquaporin gene expression, increasing photosynthetic efficiency as well as enhancing water uptake efficiency. Transition metal nitrides are considered as the promising materials in the energy conversion processes due to the similar electronic structures to Pt. In this work, a series of Ni/TMN−C (TM=V, Mo, Nb, Ta) catalysts were synthesized and investigated the catalytic performance for methanol oxidation reaction in alkaline media. The electrochemical measurements indicated that the TNNs‐modified Ni/C catalysts exhibited higher activity, kinetics, charge transfer and stability for alkaline MOR compared with Ni/C. It was found that the incorporation of TMNs improved the activity and stability for MOR in various degree. Specially, Ni/VN−C showed the highest catalytic activity, nearly three times higher than that of Ni/C due to the highest coverage of the surface component NiOOH, consistent with the Tafel and EIS results that it exhibited the fastest charge transfer kinetics and reaction rate. XPS characterization indicated that the obvious electron interaction occurred between the TMNs and Ni species and Ni would transfer electrons to the transition metal nitrides, resulting in the electron‐rich states of TMNs. Interestingly, combining the d‐band center and activity of the corresponding catalysts, it could be found that a volcano plot existed between them, suggesting that the introduction of appropriate nitrides would change the electronic structure of Ni and enhance the catalytic performance for MOR in alkaline media. Monolayer iron oxides grown on metal substrates have widely been used as model systems in heterogeneous catalysis. By means of ambient-pressure scanning tunneling microscopy (AP-STM), we studied the in situ oxidation and reduction of FeO(111) grown on Au(111) by oxygen (O2) and carbon monoxide (CO), respectively. Oxygen dislocation lines present on FeO islands are highly active for O2 dissociation. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements distinctly reveal the reversible oxidation and reduction of FeO islands after sequential exposure to O2 and CO. Our AP-STM results show that excess O atoms can be further incorporated on dislocation lines and react with CO, whereas the CO is not strong enough to reduce the FeO supported on Au(111) that is essential to retain the activity of oxygen dislocation lines. We studied a class of generalized n-species non-autonomous cooperative Lotka–Volterra (L-V) systems with time delays. We obtained new criteria on the dynamic properties of the systems. First, we obtained the boundedness and permanence of the system using the inequality analysis technique and comparison method. Then, the existence of positive periodic solutions was investigated using the coincidence degree theory. The global attractivity of the system was obtained by constructing suitable Lyapunov functionals and utilizing Barbalat's lemma. The existence and global attractivity of the periodic solutions were also obtained. Finally, we conducted two numerical simulations to validate the feasibility and practicability of our results. Antibodies are a useful tool for assistance to map the binding epitopes in Bacillus thuringiensis Cry toxins and their receptors, and even determine how receptors promote toxicity. In this work, a monoclonal antibody (mAb-1D2) was produced by the hybridoma cell line raised against Cry2Aa toxins, with a half inhibition concentration (IC50) of 9.16 μg/mL. The affinity constant of two recombinant toxin-binding fragments derived from Helicoverpa armigera and Plutella xylostella cadherin-like protein (HaCad-TBR or PxCad-TBR) to Cry2Aa toxin was measured to be 1.21 μM and 1.24 μM, respectively. Competitive ELISA showed that mAb-1D2 competed with HaCad-TBR or PxCad-TBR binding to Cry2Aa. Meanwhile, the toxicity of the Cry2Aa toxin to the H. armigera and P. xylostella larvae were greatly reduced when the toxin was mixed with mAb-1D2, which indicated that cadherin may play an important functional role in the toxicity of Cry2Aa. After transforming mAb-1D2 to a single-chain variable fragment (scFv), the hot spot residues of Cry2Aa with 1D2-scFv, PxCad-TBR, and HaCad-TBR were analyzed by molecular docking. It was demonstrated that the hot spot residues of Cry2Aa involving with 1D2-scFv interaction were mainly in Domain II, and some residues in Domain I. Moreover, mAb-1D2 and the two cadherin fragments shared the common hot spot residues on Cry2Aa, which could explain mAb-1D2 inhibited Cry2Aa binding with cadherin fragments. This monoclonal antibody could be a useful tool for identifying the binding epitopes between Cry2Aa and cadherin, and even assist to analyze the roles of cadherin in Cry2Aa toxicity. In vivo optical imaging is an important application value in disease diagnosis. However, near-infrared nanoprobes with excellent luminescent properties are still scarce. Herein, two boron–dipyrromethene (BODIPY) molecules (BDP-A and BDP-B) were designed and synthesized. The BODIPY emission was tuned to the near-infrared (NIR) region by regulating the electron-donating ability of the substituents on its core structure. In addition, the introduction of polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains on BODIPY enabled the formation of self-assembled nanoparticles (NPs) to form optical nanoprobes. The self-assembled BODIPY NPs present several advantages, including NIR emission, large Stokes shifts, and high fluorescence quantum efficiency, which can increase water dispersibility and signal-to-noise ratio to decrease the interference by the biological background fluorescence. The in vitro studies revealed that these NPs can enter tumor cells and illuminate the cytoplasm through fluorescence imaging. Then, BDP-B NPs were selected for use in vivo imaging due to their unique NIR emission. BDP-B was enriched in the tumor and effectively illuminated it via an enhanced penetrability and retention effect (EPR) after being injected into the tail vein of mice. The organic nanoparticles were metabolized through the liver and kidney. Gate-level circuit partitioning is an important development trend for improving the efficiency of simulation in EDA software. In this paper, a gate-level circuit partitioning algorithm, based on clustering and an improved genetic algorithm, is proposed for the gate-level simulation task. First, a clustering algorithm based on betweenness centrality is proposed to quickly identify clusters in the original circuit and achieve the circuit coarse. Next, a constraint-based genetic algorithm is proposed which provides absolute and probabilistic genetic strategies for clustered circuits and other circuits, respectively. This new genetic strategy guarantees the integrity of clusters and is effective for realizing the fine partitioning of gate-level circuits. The experimental results using 12 ISCAS '89 and ISCAS '85 benchmark circuits show that the proposed algorithm is 5% better than Metis, 80% better than KL, and 61% better than traditional genetic algorithms for finding the minimum number of connections between subsets. Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV), an emerging bunyavirus, causes severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), with a high fatality rate of 20%-30%. At present, however, the pathogenesis of SFTSV remains largely unclear and no specific therapeutics or vaccines against its infection are currently available. Therefore, animal models that can faithfully recapitulate human disease are important to help understand and treat SFTSV infection. Here, we infected seven Chinese rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) with SFTSV. Virological and immunological changes were monitored over 28 days post-infection. Results showed that mild symptoms appeared in the macaques, including slight fever, thrombocytopenia, leukocytopenia, increased aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and creatine kinase (CK) in the blood. Viral replication was persistently detectable in lymphoid tissues and bone marrow even after viremia disappeared. Immunocyte detection showed that the number of T cells (mainly CD8+ T cells), B cells, natural killer (NK) cells, and monocytes decreased during infection. In detail, effector memory CD8+ T cells declined but showed increased activation, while both the number and activation of effector memory CD4+ T cells increased significantly. Furthermore, activated memory B cells decreased, while CD80+/CD86+ B cells and resting memory B cells (CD27+CD21+) increased significantly. Intermediate monocytes (CD14+CD16+) increased, while myeloid dendritic cells (mDCs) rather than plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) markedly declined during early infection. Cytokines, including interleukin-6 (IL-6), interferon-inducible protein-10 (IP-10), and macrophage inflammatory protein 1 (MCP-1), were substantially elevated in blood and were correlated with activated CD4+ T cells, B cells, CD16+CD56+ NK cells, CD14+CD16+ monocytes during infection. Thus, this study demonstrates that Chinese rhesus macaques infected with SFTSV resemble mild clinical symptoms of human SFTS and provides detailed virological and immunological parameters in macaques for understanding the pathogenesis of SFTSV infection. Background: This study evaluated the temporal characteristics of lung chest X-ray (CXR) scores in COVID-19 patients during hospitalization and how they relate to other clinical variables and outcomes (alive or dead). Methods: This is a retrospective study of COVID-19 patients. CXR scores of disease severity were analyzed for: (i) survivors (N = 224) versus non-survivors (N = 28) in the general floor group, and (ii) survivors (N = 92) versus non-survivors (N = 56) in the invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) group. Unpaired t-tests were used to compare survivors and non-survivors and between time points. Comparison across multiple time points used repeated measures ANOVA and corrected for multiple comparisons. Results: For general-floor patients, non-survivor CXR scores were significantly worse at admission compared to those of survivors (p < 0.05), and non-survivor CXR scores deteriorated at outcome (p < 0.05) whereas survivor CXR scores did not (p > 0.05). For IMV patients, survivor and non-survivor CXR scores were similar at intubation (p > 0.05), and both improved at outcome (p < 0.05), with survivor scores showing greater improvement (p < 0.05). Hospitalization and IMV duration were not different between groups (p > 0.05). CXR scores were significantly correlated with lactate dehydrogenase, respiratory rate, D-dimer, C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, ferritin, SpO2, and lymphocyte count (p < 0.05). Determination of polarization states of electromagnetic waves plays a crucial role in photonic applications. However, it is very challenging to determine the polarization state of continuous terahertz (THz) waves. Here, a metasurface‐like metallic waveguide array (MWA) is proposed to address this by measuring both the phase difference and amplitude ratio of its two orthogonal components based on generation and interference of polarization‐multiplexing vortex beams. When a full‐polarized THz wave passes through the MWA, its two orthogonal components will be converted into +1st‐ and −1st‐order Bessel vortex beams, respectively. Their projection components in a proper polarized direction can interfere with each other, and their initial phase difference can be measured in real‐time owing to its linear relationship with the azimuth of the dark fringe in interference patterns. The two Bessel beams can be further collected separately using a linear polarizer to obtain their amplitude ratio. Therefore, the polarization state of incident waves can be determined with both the phase difference and amplitude ratio. The proposed method enables a convenient polarization determination of continuous THz waves and has great potential for developing polarization‐dependent investigations and applications in THz detection, communication, and sensing. Atrazine toxicity is one of the limiting factors inhibiting sensitive plant growth. Previous studies showed that atrazine-degrading bacteria could alleviate atrazine toxicity. However, there is limited information on how atrazine-degrading bacteria and plant growth-promote bacteria alleviate atrazine toxicity in soybeans. Therefore, the current study aimed to explore the atrazine removal, phosphorus utilization, and the oxidative stress alleviation of atrazine-degrading bacterium Arthrobacter sp. DNS10 and/or inorganic phosphorus-solubilizing bacterium Enterobacter sp. P1 in the reduction of atrazine toxicity in soybean. The results showed that atrazine exposure to soybean seedlings led to significant inhibition in growth, atrazine removal, and phosphorus utilization. However, the co-inoculatied strains significantly increased seedlings biomass, chlorophyll a/b contents, and total phosphorus in leaves accompanied by great reduction of the atrazine-induced antioxidant enzymes activities and malonaldehyde (MDA) contents, as well as atrazine contents in soil and soybeans under atrazine stress. Furthermore, transcriptome analysis highlighted that co-inoculated strains increased the expression levels of genes related to photosynthetic-antenna proteins, carbohydrate metabolism, and fatty acid degradation in leaves. All the results suggest that the co-inoculation mitigates atrazine-induced oxidative stress on soybean by accelerating atrazine removal from soil and phosphorus accumulation in leaves, enhancing the chlorophyll contents, and regulating plant transcriptome. It may be suggested that co-inoculation of atrazine-degrading bacteria and inorganic phosphorus-solubilizing bacteria can be used as a potential method to alleviate atrazine toxicity to the sensitive crops. The oocytes of female mammals will undergo aging after ovulation, also known as postovulatory oocyte aging (POA). Until now, the mechanisms of POA have not been fully understood. Although studies have shown that cumulus cells accelerate POA over time, the exact relationship between the two is still unclear. In the study, by employing the methods of mouse cumulus cells and oocytes transcriptome sequencing and experimental verification, we revealed the unique characteristics of cumulus cells and oocytes through ligand–receptor interactions. The results indicate that cumulus cells activated NF-κB signaling in oocytes through the IL1–IL1R1 interaction. Distinctive upconversion or downshifting of lanthanide nanocrystals holds promise for biomedical and photonic applications. However, either process requires high-energy lasers at discrete wavelengths for excitation. Here we demonstrate that co-sensitization can break this limitation with ultrawide excitation bands. We achieve co-sensitization by employing Nd3+ and Ho3+ as the co-sensitizers with complementary absorptions from the ultraviolet to infrared region. Symmetric penta-layer core-shell nanostructure enables tunable fluorescence in the visible and the second near-infrared window when incorporating different activators (Er3+, Ho3+, Pr3+, and Tm3+). Transient spectra confirm the directional energy transfer from sensitizers to activators through the bridge of Yb3+. We validate the features of the nanocrystals for low-powered white light-emitting diode-mediated whole-body angiography of mice with a signal-to-noise ratio of 12.3 and excitation-regulated encryption.
