The states with the highest number of library and information science (LIS) job openings were California, Texas, Illinois, New York, and Washington. Academic libraries had the highest number of job openings, followed by Public libraries and Government libraries, respectively. The most sought-after LIS job categories were Administration/Management, Special Collections/Archives, Subject Specialist/Liaison, Information Literacy and Instruction, and Collection Development/Acquisitions. Nicotine is the primary addictive component of cigarette smoke and is associated with various smoking-related diseases. However, recent research has revealed its broader cognitive-enhancing and antiinflammatory properties, suggesting its potential therapeutic applications in several conditions. This review aims to examine the double-edged nature of nicotine, encompassing its positive and negative effects. We provide a concise overview of the physiochemical properties and pharmacology of nicotine, including insights into nicotine receptors. Therefore, the article is divided into two main sections: toxicity and therapeutic potential. We comprehensively explored nicotine-related diseases, focusing on specific signaling pathways and the underlying mechanisms that contribute to its effects. Furthermore, we addressed the current research challenges and future development perspectives. This review aims to inspire future researchers to explore the full medical potential of nicotine, which holds significant promise for the clinical management of specific diseases. Tumors present a formidable health risk with limited curability and high mortality; existing treatments face challenges in addressing the unique tumor microenvironment (hypoxia, low pH, and high permeability), necessitating the development of new therapeutic approaches. Under certain circumstances, certain bacteria, especially anaerobes or parthenogenetic anaerobes, accumulate and proliferate in the tumor environment. This phenomenon activates a series of responses in the body that ultimately produce anti-tumor effects. These bacteria can target and colonize the tumor microenvironment, promoting responses aimed at targeting and fighting tumor cells. Understanding and exploiting such interactions holds promise for innovative therapeutic strategies, potentially augmenting existing treatments and contributing to the development of more effective and targeted approaches to fighting tumors. This paper reviews the tumor-promoting mechanisms and anti-tumor effects of the digestive tract microbiome and describes bacterial therapeutic strategies for tumors, including natural and engineered anti-tumor strategies. Background: Metabolic dysregulation represents a defining characteristic of Type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Nevertheless, there remains an absence of substantial evidence establishing a direct causal link between circulating blood metabolites and the promotion or prevention of T2DM. In addressing this gap, we employed Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to investigate the potential causal association between 1,091 blood metabolites, 309 metabolite ratios, and the occurrence of T2DM. Methods: Data encompassing single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for 1,091 blood metabolites and 309 metabolite ratios were extracted from a Canadian Genome-wide association study (GWAS) involving 8,299 participants. To evaluate the causal link between these metabolites and Type 2 diabetes (T2DM), multiple methods including Inverse Variance Weighted (IVW), Weighted Median, MR Egger, Weighted Mode, and Simple Mode were employed. p-values underwent correction utilizing False Discovery Rates (FDR). Sensitivity analyses incorporated Cochran's Q test, MR-Egger intercept test, MRPRESSO, Steiger test, leave-one-out analysis, and single SNP analysis. The causal effects were visualized via Circos plot, forest plot, and scatter plot. Furthermore, for noteworthy, an independent T2DM GWAS dataset (GCST006867) was utilized for replication analysis. Metabolic pathway analysis of closely correlated metabolites was conducted using MetaboAnalyst 5.0. Results: The IVW analysis method utilized in this study revealed 88 blood metabolites and 37 metabolite ratios demonstrating a significant causal relationship with T2DM (p < 0.05). Notably, strong causal associations with T2DM were observed for specific metabolites: 1-linoleoyl-GPE (18:2) (IVW: OR:0.930, 95% CI: 0.899-0.962, p = 2.16 × 10-5), 1,2-dilinoleoyl-GPE (18:2/18:2) (IVW: OR:0.942, 95% CI: 0.917-0.968, p = 1.64 × 10-5), Mannose (IVW: OR: 1.133, 95% CI: 1.072-1.197, p = 1.02 × 10-5), X-21829 (IVW: OR:1.036, 95% CI: 1.036-1.122, p = 9.44 × 10-5), and Phosphate to mannose ratio (IVW: OR:0.870, 95% CI: 0.818-0.926, p = 1.29 × 10-5, FDR = 0.008). Additionally, metabolic pathway analysis highlighted six significant pathways associated with T2DM development: Valine, leucine and isoleucine biosynthesis, Phenylalanine metabolism, Glycerophospholipid metabolism, Alpha-Linolenic acid metabolism, Sphingolipid metabolism, and Alanine, aspartate, and glutamate metabolism. Conclusion: This study identifies both protective and risk-associated metabolites that play a causal role in the development of T2DM. By integrating genomics and metabolomics, it presents novel insights into the pathogenesis of T2DM. With the improvement of national health awareness and the popularization of a series of screening methods, the number of patients with early colorectal cancer is gradually increasing, and accurate prediction of lymph node metastasis of T1 colorectal cancer is the key to determining the optimal therapeutic solutions. Whether patients with T1 colorectal cancer undergoing endoscopic resection require additional surgery and regional lymph node dissection is inconclusive in current guidelines. However, we can be sure that in early colorectal cancer without lymph node metastasis, endoscopic resection alone does not affect the prognosis, and it greatly improves the quality of life and reduces the incidence of surgical complications while preserving organ integrity. Therefore, it is vital to discriminate patients without lymph node metastasis in T1 colorectal cancer, and this requires accurate predictors. This paper briefly explains the significance and shortcomings of traditional pathological factors, then extends and states the new pathological factors, clinical test factors, molecular biomarkers, and the risk assessment models of lymph node metastasis based on artificial intelligence. Fluoride-resistant Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) might affect the ecological balance of biofilms in the presence of fluoride. We used a S. mutans and Candida albicans (C. albicans) cross-kingdom biofilm model to investigate whether fluoride-resistant S. mutans in biofilms would support C. albicans growth under fluoride stress and attenuate the in vitro anti-caries effect of fluorine. The impact of fluoride-resistant S. mutans on formation of cross-kingdom biofilms by S. mutans and C. albicans in the presence of fluoride was investigated in vitro using the crystal violet staining assay. Biofilm constitution was determined using colony-forming unit (CFU) counts and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH). Extracellular polysaccharide (EPS) generation in biofilms was determined by EPS/bacterial dying and water-insoluble polysaccharide detection. Acid production and demineralization weremonitored using pH, lactic acid content, and transversal microradiography (TMR). The gene expression of microorganisms in the cross-kingdom biofilm was measured using qRT-PCR. Our results showed that both C. albicans and fluoride-resistant S. mutans grew vigorously, forming robust cross-kingdom biofilms, even in the presence of sodium fluoride (NaF). Moreover, fluoride-resistant S. mutans-containing cross-kingdom biofilms had considerable cariogenic potential for EPS synthesis, acid production, and demineralization ability in the presence of NaF than fluoride-sensitive S. mutans-containing biofilms. Furthermore, the gene expression of microorganisms in the two cross-kingdom biofilms changed dissimilarly in the presence of NaF. In summary, fluoride-resistant S. mutans in cross-kingdom biofilms supported C. albicans growth under fluoride and might attenuate the anti-caries potential of fluorine by maintaining robust cross-kingdom biofilm formation and cariogenic virulence expression in vitro in the presence of NaF. Carotenoids are widely distributed and structurally diverse, which have significant roles in the photosynthesis of plants. As a precursor of vitamin A, carotenoids are also antioxidants that reduce various chronic diseases, which are beneficial for human health. Currently, the existing studies concerned the biological roles of APETALA2 (AP2)/ethylene-responsive factor (ERF) genes originated from higher plants. The AP2 superfamily of the transcriptional regulator was identified in higher plants, which was related to growth, development, carotenoid metabolism, and responses to various stresses. However, the regulatory mechanisms of the AP2-modulating carotenoid metabolism have not been reported in microalgae, which remain to be elucidated. Dunaliella parva AP2 (i.e., DpAP2), an important transcription factor, promotes carotenoid accumulation by binding to the promoter of target gene. Here, we identified an important AP2/ERF transcription factor, DpAP2, which could promote carotenoid accumulation by binding to the promoter of target gene. To demonstrate the function of DpAP2, the interacting proteins were identified by the yeast two-hybrid system. The results showed that DpAP2 could interact with three proteins with different activities (DNAbinding transcription factor activity, protein kinase activity, and alpha-Dphosphohexomutase activity); these proteins may be associated with multiple biological processes. Uvod: Cilj je bio da se istraži prediktivna vrednost specifičnog imunoglobulina E (sIgE), interleukina-6 (IL-6) i regulatornih T ćelija (Treg) na rizik od postoperativnog recidiva kod pacijenata sa eozinofilnim hroničnim rinosinusitisom sa nazalnim polipima (EcRsvNP). Metode: Ukupno 198 pacijenata sa EcRsvNP prikupljenih u našoj bolnici od januara 2019. do decembra 2021. odabrano je kao subjekt istraživanja. Svi pacijenti su podvrgnuti funkcionalnoj endoskopskoj operaciji sinusa. Pacijenti su odabrani u grupu sa recidivom (RG, n = 48) i grupu bez recidiva (NRG, n = 150) na osnovu recidiva nakon 1 godine praćenja. Analizirani su povezani faktori postoperativnog recidiva EcRsvNP. ROC je korišćen za analizu opasnosti od sIgE, IL-6 i Treg u predviđanju postoperativnog recidiva pacijenata sa EcRsvNP. Rezultati: Udeo pacijenata sa astmom, VAS skor za začepljenost nosa i sadržaj Eos% u perifernoj krvi u RG premašili su onaj u NRG, a nivoi Neu% organizacije i Neu% periferne krvi bili su manji od onih u NRGp (P sve < 0,05). Serumski sIgE i serumski IL-6 u RG su bili viši od onih u NRG, dok je nivo Treg u perifernoj krvi bio niži od onog u NRG (P < 0,05). Logistička regresiona analiza je pokazala da su visoki nivoi serumskog sIgE, serumskog IL-6 i niski nivoi Treg faktori rizika za postoperativni recidiv (P < 0,05). ROC je pokazao da su AUC nivoa sIgE u perifernoj krvi, samo nivoi IL-6 i Treg u predviđanju opasnosti od postoperativnog recidiva kod pacijenata sa EcRsvNP 0,786, 0,707 i 0,636, respektivno (svi P < 0,05); AUC kombinovanog predviđanja nivoa sIgE, IL-6 i Treg u perifernoj krvi za opasan postoperativni recidiv kod pacijenata sa EcRsvNP bio je 0,973, što ukazuje da je efikasnost zajedničkog predviđanja bila veća od efikasnosti pojedinačnog predviđanja (P < 0,05). Zaključak: Visok nivo sIgE, IL6 i nizak nivo Treg kod pacijenata sa EcRsvNP pre operacije će povećati rizik od postoperativnog recidiva, što je faktor rizika koji utiče na postoperativni recidiv, a tri indikatora imaju dobru prediktivnu vrednost za predviđanje postoperativnog recidiva kod pacijenata. sa EcRsvNP, a kombinacija ova tri indikatora ima bolju vrednost u predviđanju postoperativnog recidiva. The line-based hybrid transit (LHT) system is a public transit mode that improves transit performance by integrating the fixed-route transit service with a demand-responsive transit service. To facilitate the implementation and operation of such a hybrid transit system, this paper analyzes and compares the operating performance of the LHT system in two different road network structures: a rectangular structure and circular structure. To conduct a meaningful comparison, the generalized cost of LHT systems for both structures is formulated using the same analytical framework based on the continuous approximation approach. After constructing various time cost indicators related to system performance under two structures, the optimal design model is formulated as a nonlinear program, and an iterative enumeration method with vectorized programming is designed to solve it. A case study is performed to compare various cost components corresponding to the two structures, and sensitivity analysis is conducted. The results suggest that the LHT system is more suitable for operating in rectangular structures under low demand densities, while the system in circular structures is more suitable for operating under high demand densities. However, the performance of the LHT system in a circular structure is superior to that in a rectangular structure at most demand density levels for testing scenarios with high service area size or value of time. Shallow mixing layers developed in partially-distributed canopy flows (PCFs) are important for water conveyance, sediment transport and solute dispersion. In this paper, we address the response of shallow mixing layers in PCFs to several influential factors associated with bed friction, water shallowness and canopy denseness using depth-averaged Large Eddy Simulation (DA-LES). The results show that under certain canopy denseness, shallow mixing layers in PCFs display asymptotic behaviour for the variation of bed friction and water shallowness, consistent with classic shallow mixing layers. The canopy drag encourages the asymmetric growth of the inner and outer parts of the mixing layer, and this effect decreases when bed friction and water shallowness become pronounced. Characteristic velocity and length scales show similarity well delineated by exponential decay function regarding a stabilization efficiency parameter. The exception happens for the inner length scale of the mixing layer when only changing canopy density. We conclude that changing the canopy denseness can encourage the overall shift of mixing layer scaling regarding a broad range of bed friction and water shallowness. Furthermore, the bed friction parameter thresholding triggering flow instability of mixing layers in PCFs is found about 0.03, lower than 0.09 for splitter-plate induced mixing layers. Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) with designable nitrogen-rich structures, which can form Schottky junctions with Pt nanoparticles, have been extensively studied in photocatalysis. However, tuning the interaction inside the Schottky junction to inhibit charge recombination and promote charge migration for better photocatalytic performance in CTFs is rarely explored. Herein, we report a new strategy to regulate the Schottky junction structures between CTFs and Pt nanoparticles by using tailor-made modulating nitrogen sites in Pt@CTFs. We found that the isolated singular pyridine sites are good for the photocatalytic hydrogen production performance, while the neighboring bipyridine sites are detrimental to the photocatalytic performance. We further explored the influence of the number and position of pyridine N units on the band structures of the CTFs and found that the CTF (CTF-Py-1) with isolated single pyridine sites can form more effective Schottky junctions with Pt nanoparticles, comprising the smallest Schottky barrier to facilitate the electrons transport inside the junction. Consequently, Pt@CTF-Py-1 gives the best photocatalytic performance among the series with a hydrogen production rate of 14 960 μmol h−1 g−1, which is about ten times higher than that of Pt@CTF-BPy. Several mutations in the IRF6 gene have been identified as a causative link to VWS. In this investigation, whole-exome sequencing (WES) and Sanger sequencing of a three-generation pedigree with an autosomal-dominant inheritance pattern affected by VWS identified a unique stop-gain mutation-c.748C>T:p.R250X-in the IRF6 gene that co-segregated exclusively with the disease phenotype. Immunofluorescence analysis revealed that the IRF6-p.R250X mutation predominantly shifted its localization from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. WES and protein interaction analyses were conducted to understand this mutation's role in the pathogenesis of VWS. Using LC-MS/MS, we found that this mutation led to a reduction in the binding of IRF6 to histone modification-associated proteins (NAA10, SNRPN, NAP1L1). Furthermore, RNA-seq results show that the mutation resulted in a downregulation of TGFβ2-AS1 expression. The findings highlight the mutation's influence on TGFβ2-AS1 and its subsequent effects on the phosphorylation of SMAD2/3, which are critical in maxillofacial development, particularly the palate. Background: With the global rise in obesity, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has emerged as the most common chronic liver disease. Concurrently, depression is a highly prevalent mental disorder. As the incidence of MASLD and depression continues to increase, a growing body of research indicates a potential association between the two conditions. However, the direction of causality between depression and MASLD remains uncertain. To address this gap, our study utilizes a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) approach to explore the bidirectional causal relationship between depression and MASLD. Methods: We extracted single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with depression and MASLD from pooled data of genome-wide association studies (GWAS). A comprehensive assessment of possible causality was also performed. Possible mediating effects of liver enzymes on MASLD were also assessed. Results: A total of three GWAS pooled data on depression as well as GWAS data related to MASLD and GWAS data on four liver enzymes were used in this study. Our findings indicated a strong causal relationship between depression and MASLD (OR, 1.557; 95% CI, 1.097-2.211; P = 0.016). And we found a mediating effect of gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST). ALT 10% (95% CI: 7% - 13%, P< 0.0002). AST, 4.14% (95% CI: 2.34% - 5.94%, P < 0.05). GGT 0.19% (95% CI: 0.15% - 0.22%, P< 0.000000002). However, we did not find a mediating effect of alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Our inverse MR analysis did not reveal any causal relationship between MASLD and depression. Conclusions: The MR analysis revealed a positive causal relationship between depression and MASLD, while no reverse causal relationship was identified. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the risk factors of prognosis and hemorrhagic transformation after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in patients with posterior circulation acute ischemic stroke (PC-AIS) caused by large vessel occlusion. We sought to develop a nomogram for predicting the risk of poor prognosis and symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) in patients with PC-AIS. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 81 patients with PC-AIS who underwent MT treatment. We collected clinical information from the patients to assessed sICH and prognosis based on CT results and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores. Subsequently, they were followed up for 3 months, and their prognosis was assessed using the Modified Rankin Scale. We used the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and multivariate logistic regression to determine the factors affecting prognosis to construct a nomogram. The nomogram's performance was assessed through receiver operating characteristic curves, calibration curves, decision curve analysis, and clinical impact curves. Results: Among the 81 patients with PC-AIS, 33 had a good prognosis, 48 had a poor prognosis, 19 presented with sICH, and 62 did not present with sICH. The results of the LASSO regression indicated that variables, including HPT, baseline NIHSS score, peak SBP, SBP CV, SBP SD, peak SBP, DBP CV, HbA1c, and BG SD, were predictors of patient prognosis. Variables such as AF, peak SBP, and peak DBP predicted the risk of sICH. Multivariate logistic regression revealed that baseline NIHSS score (OR = 1.115, 95% CI 1.002-1.184), peak SBP (OR = 1.060, 95% CI 1.012-1.111), SBP CV (OR = 1.296, 95% CI 1.036-1.621) and HbA1c (OR = 3.139, 95% CI 1.491-6.609) were independent risk factors for prognosis. AF (OR = 6.823, 95% CI 1.606-28.993), peak SBP (OR = 1.058, 95% CI 1.013-1.105), and peak DBP (OR = 1.160, 95% CI 1.036-1.298) were associated with the risk of sICH. In the following step, nomograms were developed, demonstrating good discrimination, calibration, and clinical applicability. Conclusion: We constructed nomograms to predict poor prognosis and risk of sICH in patients with PC-AIS undergoing MT. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide advice for the indication of regional nodal irradiation (RNI) in patients with one to two positive sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) without axillary lymph node dissection (ALND). Methods: We conducted a retrospective study in Shandong Cancer Hospital, Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, and West China Hospital. Logistic analysis was performed in order to explore the influencing factors of positive non-SLNs (NSLNs) and >3 positive nodes among patients with one to two SLNs+. Then, nomograms were constructed. Results: Between May 2010 and 2020, among the 2,845 patients with one to two SLNs+ undergoing ALND (1,992 patients in the training set and 853 patients in the validation set), there were 34.3% harbored NSLNs+ and 15.6% harbored >3 positive nodes. Multivariate analysis showed that cN stage, the number of positive/negative SLN, pathological tumor stage, lympho-vascular invasion (LVI), multicenter, and molecular subtypes were significantly associated with NSLN metastasis. Similarly, multivariate analysis also showed that cN stage, the number of positive/negative SLNs, pathological tumor stage, and LVI could be independent predictors of >3 positive nodes. Then, nomograms for NSLN metastasis and >3 positive nodes were constructed using these parameters, respectively. The bearing capacity of shallow foundation is significantly affected by stratum uncertainty, mainly including geological uncertainty and spatial variability of soil properties. This paper aims to develop a general framework of shallow foundation to characterize the influence of two types of uncertainties on bearing capacity quantitatively. The geological uncertainty is simulated by Markov random field with different borehole schemes. The spatial variability is characterized using random field theory considering variations of the vertical scale of fluctuation. The bearing capacity of shallow foundation analysis is then conducted based on the proposed calculation framework. Borehole data and soil properties collected from Shenzhen Mawan are adopted as an example to illustrate the proposed framework. A reduction factor is developed to reveal the relationship of two category uncertainties on bearing capacity. A contribution rate indicator is defined to quantitatively evaluate the impact of two category uncertainties. Results show that the geological uncertainty greatly influences the calculation results when boreholes are sparse. Accumulating studies have indicated that the gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in the onset of autoimmune diseases by engaging in complex interactions with the host. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the existing literatures concerning the relationship between the gut microbiota and autoimmune diseases, shedding light on the complex interplay between the gut microbiota, the host and the immune system. Furthermore, we aim to summarize the impacts and potential mechanisms that underlie the interactions between the gut microbiota and the host in autoimmune diseases, primarily focusing on systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjögren's syndrome, type 1 diabetes mellitus, ulcerative colitis and psoriasis. The present review will emphasize the clinical significance and potential applications of interventions based on the gut microbiota as innovative adjunctive therapies for autoimmune diseases. Summary: Root architecture and function are critical for plants to secure water and nutrient supply from the soil, but environmental stresses alter root development. The phytohormone jasmonic acid (JA) regulates plant growth and responses to wounding and other stresses, but its role in root development for adaptation to environmental challenges had not been well investigated. We discovered a novel JA Upregulated Protein 1 gene (JAUP1) that has recently evolved in rice and is specific to modern rice accessions. JAUP1 regulates a self‐perpetuating feed‐forward loop to activate the expression of genes involved in JA biosynthesis and signalling that confers tolerance to abiotic stresses and regulates auxin‐dependent root development. Ectopic expression of JAUP1 alleviates abscisic acid‐ and salt‐mediated suppression of lateral root (LR) growth. JAUP1 is primarily expressed in the root cap and epidermal cells (EPCs) that protect the meristematic stem cells and emerging LRs. Wound‐activated JA/JAUP1 signalling promotes crosstalk between the root cap of LR and parental root EPCs, as well as induces cell wall remodelling in EPCs overlaying the emerging LR, thereby facilitating LR emergence even under ABA‐suppressive conditions. Elevated expression of JAUP1 in transgenic rice or natural rice accessions enhances abiotic stress tolerance and reduces grain yield loss under a limited water supply. We reveal a hitherto unappreciated role for wound‐induced JA in LR development under abiotic stress and suggest that JAUP1 can be used in biotechnology and as a molecular marker for breeding rice adapted to extreme environmental challenges and for the conservation of water resources. INTRODUCTION Withdrawal symptoms lead to smoking relapse and reduce the intention to quit. The present pilot RCT examined the effect of simple and very brief handgrip and isometric exercises on reducing withdrawal symptoms, measured by the strength of tobacco craving, Questionnaire of Smoking Urges-Brief (QSU-B), Mood and Physical Symptoms Scale (MPSS), and Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS). METHODS In this 2-arm, open-labeled pilot RCT, 30 current smokers who had abstained from tobacco for at least 9 hours were randomly assigned (allocation ratio 1:1) to either the intervention group that watched a 5-minute video and did 5-minute handgrip and isometric exercises (pulling and pushing) or control group that watched 10-minute healthy-diet videos. Measurements were taken before, immediately after, and 10 minutes post-intervention. Outcomes were self-reported strength of tobacco craving, QSU-B, MPSS, and PANAS scores. The effect size for group-by-time interaction was assessed using Cohen's f² (small=0.02, medium=0.15, large=0.35). RESULTS Group-by-time interactions showed that the intervention group showed larger reductions than the control group in the strength of tobacco craving (Cohen's f²=0.54, 95% CI: 0.52-0.57), QSU-B (Cohen's f²=0.77; 95% CI: 0.74-0.80), and MPSS (Cohen's f²=0.51; 95% CI: 0.46-0.56) over the three measurement points. CONCLUSIONS This RCT showed that simple and brief handgrip and isometric exercises could immediately reduce withdrawal symptoms and up to 10 minutes. The metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) method is preferred for genotyping useful for the identification of organisms, illumination of metabolic pathways, and determination of microbiota. It can accurately obtain all the nucleic acid information in the test sample. Anthrax is one of the most important zoonotic diseases, infecting mainly herbivores and occasionally humans. The disease has four typical clinical forms, cutaneous, gastrointestinal, inhalation, and injection, all of which may result in sepsis or meningitis, with cutaneous being the most common form. Here, we report a case of cutaneous anthrax diagnosed by mNGS in a butcher. Histopathology of a skin biopsy revealed PAS-positive bacilli. Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sample was confirmed the diagnosis of anthrax by mNGS. He was cured with intravenous penicillin. To our knowledge, this is the first case of cutaneous anthrax diagnosed by mNGS using FFPE tissue. mNGS is useful for identifying pathogens that are difficult to diagnose with conventional methods, and FFPE samples are simple to manage. Compared with traditional bacterial culture, which is difficult to cultivate and takes a long time, mNGS can quickly and accurately help us diagnose anthrax, so that anthrax can be controlled in a timely manner and prevent the outbreak of epidemic events. The 2D materials are the fundamental building blocks for modern optoelectronics and photonics. Optically anisotropic monolayers give even more flexibility in device design and performance. However, the random orientation of optical axes in the large-scale samples prevents anisotropic monolayers from widespread use. The alternative structure is a monolayer of aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with an anisotropic dielectric tensor. Herein, aligned SWCNTs monolayer anisotropic optical constants in a broad spectral range (250-1700 nm) are measured for the first time. It is discovered that it has a large birefringence of Î"n - 0.2 and a high dichroism of Î"k ~ 0.4. Moreover, it is demonstrated that aligned SWCNTs monolayer optical response can be described by an effective medium approximation using the graphene dielectric function. In addition, it gives a universal approach for a determination of carbon concentration in nanotubes structures. It also applies for other types of carbon nanotubes, such as multi-walled and randomly oriented carbon nanotubes arrays. Hence, in the results, aligned SWCNTs monolayer optical constants are added to the optical anisotropy database, which facilitates the longstanding challenge of using 1D structures in two dimensions, and a rapid characterization method for carbon nanotubes is provided. TFEB-altered RCC is a rare entity whose therapeutic implications and long-term survival remain unclear, especially for metastatic cases. In this study, we reported the clinicopathologic and radiological features of eighteen novel TFEB-altered RCC cases and found that TFEB-altered RCC exhibited mixed morphological and radiological characteristics. For metastatic TFEB-altered RCC, immunotherapy-based drug combinations could be a promising treatment strategy. Introduction: TFEB-altered renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a rare entity characterized by the rearrangement of the TFEB gene or TFEB amplified. The therapeutic implications and long-term survival of TFEB-altered RCC remain unclear, especially for metastatic cases. Materials and Methods: The current study initially enrolled 7604 consecutive RCC patients at our center and a total of 248 patients were selected for FISH and immunohistochemistry (IHC) analysis. Eventually, eighteen TFEB-altered RCC patients were identified. We then reported the clinical, morphological, IHC, and radiological features of these cases. Results: The median age at initial diagnosis was 45 years, ranging from 18 years to 66 years. The majority of the TFEB-altered RCC patients were male (61.1%), with localized disease (T1-2N0M0, 77.8%). The median split TFEB fluorescent signal was 24%, ranging from 15%-80%. The morphological characteristics of TFEB-altered RCC were variable, with acinar, papillary, solid, or nest patterns. IHC and magnetic resonance imaging features of TFEB-altered RCC were nonspecific. Nine patients with localized disease received partial nephrectomy and five patients with localized disease received radical nephrectomy. During the median follow-up of 67 months, no signs of recurrence or metastasis were found in these patients. Two patients had distant metastasis and received axitinib plus PD-1 immunotherapy. One of them died at 40-month follow-up and another still alive at 88-month follow-up. Conclusion: TFEB-altered RCC is an extremely rare variant, exhibited mixed morphological characteristics. The radiological feature lack specificity, resembling clear cell RCC or papillary RCC. Genetic analyses including FISH analysis is crucial in the diagnosis of TFEB-altered RCC. For localized TFEB-altered RCC, both radical nephrectomy and partial nephrectomy conferred satisfactory prognosis. In the task of interactive image segmentation, user interactions about the object of interest are accepted to predict the segmentation mask. Recent works have demonstrated state-of-the-art results by using either backpropagating refinement or iterative training scheme, which are computationally expensive. In this paper, we propose a novel method for interactive image segmentation using conditional generative adversarial networks to enforce higher-order consistency in the segmentation, without extra post-processing during inference. Concretely, we develop a new segmentation network which integrates three different modules by providing global contextual information and attentions and conducting feature fusions across multiple layers. This allows the segmentation network to learn strong object representations and predict more accurate segmentations. We then employ a fully convolutional discriminator to detect and correct higher-order inconsistency between the predictions of the segmentation network and the ground truth label maps. To achieve this, we optimize an objective function that combines the conventional segmentation loss with the adversarial loss of the adversarial term. We train our network on the Pascal VOC 2012 and MS COCO 2017 datasets and conduct comprehensive experiments on four benchmark datasets. Experimental results show that the adversarial training to the network architecture has improved segmentation results over state-of-the-art methods, while making the current system efficient in terms of speed. The phylogeny and divergence timing of the Neoavian radiation remain controversial despite recent progress. We analyzed the genomes of 124 species across all Neoavian orders, using data from 25,460 loci spanning four DNA classes, including 5,756 coding sequences, 12,449 conserved nonexonic elements, 4,871 introns, and 2,384 intergenic segments. We conducted a comprehensive sensitivity analysis to account for the heterogeneity across different DNA classes, leading to an optimal tree of Neoaves with high resolution. This phylogeny features a novel Neoavian dichotomy comprising two monophyletic clades: a previously recognized Telluraves (land birds) and a newly circumscribed Aquaterraves (waterbirds and relatives). Molecular dating analyses with 20 fossil calibrations indicate that the diversification of modern birds began in the Late Cretaceous and underwent a constant and steady radiation across the KPg boundary, concurrent with the rise of angiosperms as well as other major Cenozoic animal groups including placental and multituberculate mammals. The KPg catastrophe had a limited impact on avian evolution compared to the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum, which triggered a rapid diversification of seabirds. Our findings suggest that the evolution of modern birds followed a slow process of gradualism rather than a rapid process of punctuated equilibrium, with limited interruption by the KPg catastrophe. Canine parvovirus (CPV) is one of the most common lethal viruses in canines. The virus disease is prevalent throughout the year, with high morbidity and mortality rate, causing serious harm to dogs and the dog industry. Previously, yeast two hybrid method was used to screen the protein chaperonin containing TCP-1 (CCT7) that interacts with VP2. However, the mechanism of interactions between CCT7 and VP2 on CPV replication remains unclear. In this study, we first verified the interaction between CCT7 and viral VP2 proteins using yeast one-to-one experiment and co-immunoprecipitation (CoIP) experiment. Laser confocal microscopy observation showed that CCT7 and VP2 were able to co-localize and were mostly localized in the cytoplasm. In addition, the study of VP2 truncated mutant found that the interaction region of VP2 with CCT7 was located between amino acids 231 and 320. Cycloheximide (CHX) chase experiments showed that CCT7 can improve the stability of VP2 protein. After further regulation of CCT7 expression in F81 cells, it was found that the expression level of VP2 protein was significantly reduced after knocking down CCT7 expression by RNA interference (RNAi) or HSF1A inhibitor, and increased after overexpressing host CCT7. The study reveals the role of VP2 interacting protein CCT7 in the replication process of CPV, which could provide a potential target for the prevention and control of CPV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Composting livestock manure using microorganisms is a safe and resourceful practice. The continual fluctuations in physicochemical parameters during composting are intricately linked to the composition of microbial communities. This study investigated the dynamics of microbial communities during the composting of cow manure and tobacco straw using amplicon sequencing and shotgun metagenomics. The sequencing results revealed major genera such as Sphaerobacter, Actinomadura, Thermomonospora, Flavobacterium, Bacillus, Hydrogenophaga, Pseudomonas, Lysinibacillus, Aneurinibacillus, and Azotobacter. Metagenomic analysis highlighted that the phylum Proteobacteria constituted the largest proportion. Furthermore, the presence of the genus Rhodococcus, known to cause human and animal diseases, gradually decreased over time.
