Purpose: To explore the interplay between human translators and AI tools, focusing on tertiary students' perceptions in the context of Portuguese-Chinese translations in Macao. Design/methodology/approach: This research employed a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative surveys were complemented by qualitative responses. Qualitative class observations (participant and non-participant) and autoethnography further enriched the insights. Participants included undergraduate and postgraduate students in translation studies from the Macao Polytechnic University. Findings: The data revealed a dual perspective: appreciation for AI's efficiency contrasted with concerns about its potential to overshadow human touch in translations, especially in cultural nuances. Views on integrating AI into curricula were diverse, but a balanced, synergistic approach between human expertise and AI efficiency emerged as a common theme. Originality/value: This study offers a fresh perspective by integrating various methodologies, capturing both statistical and experiential insights on the evolving relationship between AI and human translation efforts in academia. Supply Chain Management is in constant evolution, and Supply Chain Resilience (SCR) appears as a recent offspring result of changes in how companies do business. Research efforts on the topic have led to a focus on the basic concepts of SCR, leaving a relevant research gap on the modelling and quantification of the SCR behaviour. In fact, there is not yet a consensus on SCR metrics or on how to quantify SCR. Most SCR models fail to incorporate relevant characteristics of the supply chain's performance, as are the impacts perceived by downstream customers. This work addresses such gaps, and a new resilient SC metric is proposed, which is incorporated into a developed optimisation model, where economic and responsiveness objectives are maximised when designing and planning resilient SC considering all SC entities. The model is applied to a case study that shows that decision-makers should avoid adopting universal strategies when managing their SC and instead should define the best plan for their SC operation. The impacts perceived by downstream customers are analysed. Moreover, it can be concluded that there is a correlation between the SC performance and the new SCR metric, easing the process of designing and planning the SC when resilience concerns are at stake. In the present work the solid-state dealumination of Y zeolite with ammonium hexafluorosilicate for various reaction times was studied. A detailed characterization of the porosity of the samples, and their hydrophobic-hydrophilic properties, was made. The characterization techniques used, besides the low temperature nitrogen adsorption and the room temperature water adsorption, include also the FTIR, the powder XRD and the 27Al and 29Si MAS NMR. These techniques showed evidence for the complex mechanism of dealumination that for sufficiently long times of reaction allows the partial reconstitution of the structure. Due to this mechanism the evolution of the Si/Al ratio, as well as the porosity and the hydrophobic-hydrophilic properties, do not run monotonically with the time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The adsorption isotherms of H2S in selected adsorbents were determined at 298 K, at relative pressures up to about 0.005, aiming the use of these materials in the removal of that pollutant from the museums atmosphere. The Dubinin-Astakhov equation adjusts very well the experimental results, although one cannot interpret the pre-exponential factor w0 as the limiting adsorbed amount. The parameter E, related with the adsorption energy, and the parameter n, that can be associated with the surface heterogeneity of the adsorbents, are correlated and the first is also correlated with the adsorbed amounts. It was not found any expectable relationship between the adsorbed amounts and textural parameters of the adsorbents such as the specific surface area or the microporous volume. This points out that the adsorption of H2S is highly specific. In general, 13X and Y sodium zeolites seem to be the most effective adsorbents, but at lowest tested pressures, near the concentrations found at museums, a pillared clay prepared from a Wyoming montmorillonite seems to be more efficient. The characterization of the hydrophobic-hydrophilic properties of different types of microporous materials, namely activated carbons, pillared clays and zeolites, was made by the determination of water adsorption isotherms. The data were analysed by the Dubinin and Astakhov (D-A) equation. The use of the E parameter of the D-A equation as a measure of the hydrophobic-hydrophilic character is proposed. When the information obtained from the E parameter is compared with the information that can be obtained from other parameters used in the literature to characterize the hydrophobicity of materials, it is found that the former is more sensitive and is more directly related with the shape of the adsorption isotherms which, ultimately, is the more direct manifestation of the hydrophobic-hydrophilic properties of a given material.
