Consumers have an aversion to purchasing near-expiry food products, which leads to enormous food waste and economic loss. Given the importance of this issue, past research has studied the effect of impending expiration date on product sales, but its focus has been limited to perishable food products. Since the expiration dates of non-perishable food products are treated as less important than those of perishable food products, we expect that the resulting effect on sales largely varies by shopping environment. With the growing importance of online shopping in food sales, we examine how the effect of impending expiration date differs between mobile and PC shopping environments. By analyzing a unique data set from an online salvage store, we find that consumer aversion toward near-expiry products is more salient in the PC shopping environment than in the mobile shopping environment. However, when there is a deeper price promotion, the between-channel difference is reduced as the sensitivity of an impending expiration date on sales increases in the mobile shopping environment. Using Chinese data, we examine whether synchronous remote board meetings, which facilitate status equalization among directors and alleviate their pressure for conformity, affect board monitoring effectiveness. We find that compared to face-to-face meetings, synchronous remote meetings are associated with directors' better meeting attendance behavior, a higher likelihood of director dissent on monitoring-related proposals, higher forced CEO turnover-performance sensitivity, and more effective investments. These results hold when we use remote meetings that include both synchronous and asynchronous remote meetings. Proposal-director level analysis further shows that remote meetings reduce the pressure to conform faced by young first-term directors and socially connected directors. Undesired ice accumulation can lead to serious negative impacts on daily life and equipment safety. Slippery liquid-infused surfaces (SLISs) have been widely studied for their low ice adhesion strength (τ ice ). However, the lack of durability, weak robustness, and complex preparation process hinder the application of SLISs. In this work, robust oil-infused porous surface (RIPS) was obtained by a facile one-step method, which used epoxy resin (E44) as a substrate and contained fumed silica and silicone oil. The RIPS-6 displays outstanding anti-icing/deicing ability, superior liquid repellency, good self-cleaning performance, and excellent mechanical robustness. At −5 °C, the water droplet remained unfrozen after 7200 s. τ ice was only 6.9 kPa at −20 °C and remained below 15 kPa during 10 icing cycles. Furthermore, the mixture of E44 and fumed silica enhanced the mechanical properties including the hardness (4 H) and abrasion resistance of RIPS-6. The icephobicity can be remained (τice < 40 kPa) even after 150 cycles of sandpaper abrasion at 2.5 kPa. The anti-icing and deicing coating with excellent mechanical stability and durability significantly improves the practical application possibility of the coating in harsh environments. The escalating threat of bacterial infections to human health necessitates innovative antibacterial strategies and materials. Despite this need, there is still a significant demand for materials that combine high mechanical and thermal properties with biocompatibility. To address these urgent issues, our study investigates the development of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) composite with graphene flakes (GF) as fillers. The aim is to strengthen the unique properties of graphene to enhance antibacterial activity. Graphene oxide (GO) was used as a surfactant to achieve stable graphene dispersion in water, preserving its inherent properties while avoiding the drawbacks associated with common surfactants, such as property reduction and complex removal processes. In this study, the mechanical and thermal properties of PVA composites containing GO and GF are superior to those of pristine PVA. Especially, the PVA‐2 composite exhibited a notable enhancement in both tensile strength and elongation at break compared with the PVA composite, with increases of 7.8% and 15% respectively. Moreover, PVA‐2, 4, and 6 composites exhibit significant antibacterial efficacy, achieving 4.8 and 4.9 log CFU/cm2 for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, respectively. These results indicate that the enhanced oxidative stress induced by GO as a surfactant, combined with the physical damage caused by the increased GF nanostructures. This study highlights the potential of PVA/GF/GO composites in biomedical and tissue engineering applications, providing a promising pathway for the development of new antibacterial materials. Background: The global incidence of liver diseases is rising, yet there remains a dearth of precise research models to mimic these diseases. The use of normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) to study diseased livers recovered from liver transplantation (LT) recipients presents a promising avenue. Accordingly, we have developed a machine perfusion system tailored specifically for the human whole diseased livers and present our experience from the NMP of diseased livers. Methods: Six diseased livers recovered from LT recipients with different diagnoses were collected. The diseased livers were connected to the machine perfusion system that circulated tailored perfusate, providing oxygen and nutrients. The pressure and flow of the system were recorded, and blood gas analysis and laboratory tests of perfusate and bile were examined to analyze the function of the diseased livers. Liver tissues before and after NMP were collected for histological analysis. Results: Experiments showed that the system maintained the diseased livers in a physiological state, ensuring stable hemodynamics and a suitable partial pressure of oxygen and carbon dioxide. The results of blood gas analysis and laboratory tests demonstrated a restoration and sustenance of metabolism with minimal damage. Notably, a majority of the diseased livers exhibited bile production continuously, signifying their vivid functional integrity. The pathological characteristics remained stable before and after NMP. Conclusion: We successfully established the machine perfusion system tailored specifically for diseased human whole livers. Through the application of this system, we have developed a novel in vitro model that faithfully recapitulates the main features of human liver disease. This model holds immense promise as an advanced disease modeling platform, offering profound insights into liver diseases and potential implications for research and therapeutic development. Aim: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of gemigliptin and dapagliflozin dual add‐on therapy (GEMI + DAPA) to metformin in type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients who had inadequate glycaemic control on metformin alone, compared with a single add‐on of either gemigliptin (GEMI) or dapagliflozin (DAPA) to metformin. Materials and Methods: In this randomized, double‐blind, double‐dummy, active‐controlled, parallel‐group, phase 3 study, 469 T2D patients treated with a stable dose of metformin for 8 weeks or longer were randomized to receive GEMI + DAPA (n = 157) and either GEMI (n = 156) or DAPA (n = 156). The primary endpoint was change in HbA1c levels from baseline at week 24. Results: Baseline characteristics including body mass index and T2D duration were similar among groups. At week 24, the least square mean changes in HbA1c from baseline were −1.34% with GEMI + DAPA, −0.90% with GEMI (difference between GEMI + DAPA vs. GEMI −0.44% [95% confidence interval {CI}: −0.58% to −0.31%], P <.01) and −0.78% with DAPA (difference between GEMI + DAPA vs. DAPA −0.56% [95% CI: −0.69% to −0.42%], P <.01). Both upper CIs were less than 0, demonstrating the superiority of GEMI + DAPA for lowering HbA1c. The rates of responders achieving HbA1c less than 7% and less than 6.5% were greater with GEMI + DAPA (84.9%, 56.6%) than with GEMI (55.3%, 32.2%) and DAPA (49.3%, 15.3%). The incidence rate of adverse events was similar across groups, with low incidence rates of hypoglycaemia, urinary tract infection and genital infection. Conclusions: These results suggest that the addition of GEMI + DAPA to metformin as triple combination therapy was effective, safe and well‐tolerated, especially for T2D patients who experienced poor glycaemic control on metformin alone. Background: High-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC), which is known for its heterogeneity, high recurrence rate, and metastasis, is often diagnosed after being dispersed in several sites, with about 80% of patients experiencing recurrence. Despite a better understanding of its metastatic nature, the survival rates of patients with HGSOC remain poor. Methods: Our study utilized spatial transcriptomics (ST) to interpret the tumor microenvironment and computed tomography (CT) to examine spatial characteristics in eight patients with HGSOC divided into recurrent (R) and challenging-to-collect non-recurrent (NR) groups. Results: By integrating ST data with public single-cell RNA sequencing data, bulk RNA sequencing data, and CT data, we identified specific cell population enrichments and differentially expressed genes that correlate with CT phenotypes. Importantly, we elucidated that tumor necrosis factor-α signaling via NF-κB, oxidative phosphorylation, G2/M checkpoint, E2F targets, and MYC targets served as an indicator of recurrence (poor prognostic markers), and these pathways were significantly enriched in both the R group and certain CT phenotypes. In addition, we identified numerous prognostic markers indicative of nonrecurrence (good prognostic markers). Downregulated expression of PTGDS was linked to a higher number of seeding sites (≥ 3) in both internal HGSOC samples and public HGSOC TCIA and TCGA samples. Additionally, lower PTGDS expression in the tumor and stromal regions was observed in the R group than in the NR group based on our ST data. Chemotaxis-related markers (CXCL14 and NTN4) and markers associated with immune modulation (DAPL1 and RNASE1) were also found to be good prognostic markers in our ST and radiogenomics analyses. Conclusions: This study demonstrates the potential of radiogenomics, combining CT and ST, for identifying diagnostic and therapeutic targets for HGSOC, marking a step towards personalized medicine. The distinctive taste of Sichuan sauce-flavored sausage comes from an intricate microbial metabolism. The correlation between microbial composition and distinct flavor components has not been researched. The study used headspace solid-phase microextraction action with gas chromatography mass spectrometry to find flavor components and high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA to look at the diversity and succession of microbial communities. The correlation network model forecasted the connection between essential bacteria and the development of flavors. The study revealed that the primary flavor compounds in Sichuan sauce-flavored sausages were alcohols, aldehydes, and esters. The closely related microbes were Leuconostoc, Pseudomonas, Psychrobacter, Flavobacterium, and Algoriella. The microbes aided in the production of various flavor compounds, such as 1-octen-3-ol, benzeneacetaldehyde, hexanal, (R,R)-2,3-butanediol, and ethyl caprylate. Purpose: To investigate various anatomical features of the prostate using preoperative MRI and patients' clinical factors to identify predictors of successful Holmium:YAG laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP). Methods: 71 patients who had received HoLEP and undergone a 3.0-T prostate MRI scan within 6 months before surgery were retrospectively enrolled. MRI features (e.g., total prostate and transitional zone volume, peripheral zone thickness [PZT], BPH patterns, prostatic urethral angle, intravesical prostatic protrusion, etc.) and clinical data (e.g., age, body mass index, surgical technique, etc.) were analyzed using univariable and multivariable logistic regression to identify predictors of successful HoLEP. Successful HoLEP was defined as achieving the Trifecta, characterized by the contemporary absence of postoperative complications within 3 months, a 3-month postoperative maximum flow rate (Qmax) > 15 mL/s, and no urinary incontinence at 3 months postoperatively. Results: Trifecta achievement at 3 months post-surgery was observed in 37 (52%) patients. Patients with Trifecta achievement exhibited a lower preoperative IPSS-quality of life score (QoL) (4.1 vs. 4.5, P = 0.016) and a thinner preoperative peripheral zone thickness (PZT) on MRI (7.9 vs.10.3 mm, P < 0.001). In the multivariable regression analysis, a preoperative IPSS-QoL score < 5 (OR 3.98; 95% CI, 1.21–13.07; P = 0.017) and PZT < 9 mm (OR 11.51; 95% CI, 3.51–37.74; P < 0.001) were significant predictors of Trifecta achievement after HoLEP. Conclusions: Alongside the preoperative QoL score, PZT measurement in prostate MRI can serve as an objective predictor of successful HoLEP. Spinal cord injury (SCI) disrupts coordination between the bladder and the external urinary sphincter (EUS), leading to transient or permanent voiding impairment, which is more severe in males. Male versus female differences in spinal circuits related to the EUS as well as post‐SCI rewiring are essential for understanding of sex‐/gender‐specific impairments and possible recovery mechanisms. To quantitatively assess differences between EUS circuits in males versus females and in spinal intact (SI) versus SCI animals, we retrogradely traced and counted EUS‐related neurons. In transgenic ChAT‐GFP mice, motoneurons (MNs), interneurons (INs), and propriospinal neurons (PPNs) were retrogradely trans‐synaptically traced with PRV614‐red fluorescent protein (RFP) injected into EUS. EUS‐MNs in dorsolateral nucleus (DLN) were separated from other GFP+ MNs by tracing them with FluoroGold (FG). We found two morphologically distinct cell types in DLN: FG+ spindle‐shaped bipolar (SB‐MNs) and FG− rounded multipolar (RM‐MNs) cholinergic cells. Number of MNs of both types in males was twice as large as in females. SCI caused a partial loss of MNs in all spinal nuclei. After SCI, males showed a fourfold rise in the number of RFP‐labeled cells in retro‐DLN (RDLN) innervating hind limbs. This suggests (a) an existence of direct synaptic interactions between spinal nuclei and (b) a post‐SCI increase of non‐specific inputs to EUS‐MNs from other motor nuclei. Number of INs and PPNs deferred between males and females: In SI males, the numbers of INs and PPNs were ∼10 times larger than in SI females. Background: The effect of remnant-cholesterol (remnant-C) on incident end-stage renal disease (ESRD) has not been studied longitudinally. This retrospective cohort study evaluated the association between remnant-C and the development of ESRD in a nationwide Korean cohort. Methods: Participants in a National Health Insurance Service health examination (n = 3,856,985) were followed up until the onset of ESRD. The median duration of follow-up was 10.3 years. The Martin-Hopkins equation was used to determine low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels from directly measured triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and total cholesterol levels. Remnant-C levels were determined by subtracting HDL-C and LDL-C from total cholesterol. The risk for incident ESRD was calculated for each quartile of remnant-C, adjusting for conventional risk factors such as baseline renal function, comorbidities, and total cholesterol levels. Results: ESRD developed in 11,073 (0.29%) participants. The risk for ESRD exhibited a gradual increase according to higher levels of remnant-C, with a 61% increased risk in the highest quartile than in the lowest (hazard ratio [HR] 1.61 [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.50–1.72]). The elevated risk for ESRD in the highest quartile versus the lowest quartile was more prominent in younger than in older subjects (20–29 years, HR 4.07 [95% CI 2.85–5.83]; 30–39 years, HR 2.39 [95% CI 1.83–3.13]; ≥ 70 years, HR 1.32 [95% CI 1.16–1.51]). In addition, the increased risk for ESRD related to higher remnant-C levels was greater in females than in males. Conclusions: Independent of conventional risk factors, remnant-C levels were positively associated with incident ESRD, particularly in younger populations and adult females. To achieve robust low-load LTC (Low Temperature combustion), precise metering of fuel is required since the combustion is very sensitive to the variation of the injected fuel quantity, which could range from 1 to 3 mg per injection pulse. Open-loop calibration of individual injectors is simply not a practical option and therefore a fuel control strategy has been developed to ensure robust low-load LTC combustion and validated through experiments on a 2.2 L 4-cylinder LTC engine at two different coolant temperatures. The results show that the fuel control strategy significantly improves low-load LTC combustion stability by reducing cylinder-to-cylinder variation in delivered fuel masses due to different injector characteristics even when engine operating conditions are changed. Aims: Activation of the endocannabinoid system by monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) blockade may affect the lower urinary tract function. We investigated the effect of an MAGL inhibitor, MJN110, on neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD) in the mouse model of spinal cord injury (SCI). Methods: Female C57BL/6 mice that underwent spinal cord transection at T8–10 level were divided into three groups consisting of (1) vehicle‐treated SCI mice, (2) 5 mg/kg, or (3) 10 mg/kg of MJN110‐treated SCI mice. MJN110 and vehicle were administered intraperitoneally for 7 days from 4 weeks after spinal cord transection. We then conducted awake cystometrograms and compared urodynamic parameters between three groups. The expression of cannabinoid (CB) receptors, TRP receptors, and inflammatory cytokines in L6‐S1 dorsal root ganglia (DRG) or the bladder mucosa were evaluated and compared among three groups. Changes in the level of serum 2‐arachidonoylglycerol (2‐AG) and bladder MAGL were also evaluated. Results: In the cystometrogram, detrusor overactivity (DO) parameters, such as the number of nonvoiding contraction (NVC), a ratio of time to the 1st NVC to intercontraction interval (ICI), and NVC integrals were improved by MJN110 treatment, and some effects were dose dependent. Although MJN110 did not improve voiding efficiency, it decreased bladder capacity, ICI, and residual urine volume compared to vehicle injection. MJN110 treatment groups had lower CB2, TRPV1, TRPA1, and inflammatory cytokines mRNA levels in DRG and bladder mucosa. Serum 2‐AG was increased, and bladder MAGL was decreased after MAGL inhibitor treatment. Conclusions: MAGL inhibition improved LUTD including attenuation of DO after SCI. Hybrid lateral closed-wedge high tibial osteotomy (HBHTO) carries certain advantages over medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO). We investigated the potential difference in the required correction angle between HBHTO and OWHTO to achieve an equal amount of whole lower-extremity alignment correction, retrospectively analyzing the preoperative plain radiographic images of 100 patients. The medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA), joint line convergence angle (JLCA), mechanical lateral distal femoral angle (mLDFA), hip–knee–ankle axis (HKA), length of the tibia, width of the tibial plateau, length of the lower limb (leg length), and location of the center of deformity (CD) were measured. Differences in the required correction angle at the hinge point between the two techniques (CAD) were compared, and correlation analysis was performed to reveal the influential factors. The mean difference in CAD between HBHTO and OWHTO was 0.78 ± 0.22 (0.4~1.5)°, and mean WBL position change per correction angle was 3.9 ± 0.3 (3.0~4.6)% in HBHTO and 4.1 ± 0.3 (3.1~4.7)% in OWHTO. Correlation analysis revealed a strong positive correlation between CAD and HKA. mLDFA, JLCA, MPTA, leg length, OWCD, HBCD, and HCD were also significantly correlated with CAD. In our previous study, we developed a triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) subtype classification that correlated with the TNBC molecular subclassification. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the predictor variables of this subtype classification on the whole slide and to validate the model's performance by using an external test set. We explored the characteristics of this subtype classification and investigated genomic alterations, including genomic scar signature scores. First, TNBC was classified into the luminal androgen receptor (LAR) and non-luminal androgen receptor (non-LAR) subtypes based on the AR Allred score (≥ 6 and < 6, respectively). Then, the non-LAR subtype was further classified into the lymphocyte-predominant (LP), lymphocyte-intermediate (LI), and lymphocyte-depleted (LD) groups based on stromal tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) (< 20%, > 20% but < 60%, and ≥ 60%, respectively). This classification showed fair agreement with the molecular classification in the test set. The LAR subtype was characterized by a high rate of PIK3CA mutation, CD274 (encodes PD-L1) and PDCD1LG2 (encodes PD-L2) deletion, and a low homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) score. The increasing need for cathode materials comprising mainly nickel has resulted in an increased demand for lithium hydroxide (LiOH), which is a crucial precursor. LiOH can be obtained by processing minerals or converting lithium carbonate (Li2CO3). Several approaches have been proposed for implementing the latter method. Disadvantageously, most of them have low conversion efficiencies or produce residual impurities, which result in an increased manufacturing time and cost. In this study, tungsten carbide-loaded carbon black was synthesized using a simple liquid-in-plasma approach. Then, it was mixed with Li2CO3 and heat-treated, resulting in Li2CO3 being converted into lithium oxide. Finally, LiOH was dissolved in water. The conversion rate of this method approached 100%, and notably, the temperature required for conversion was lowered by about 100 °C compared to that under the method that used a general carbon source. The voltage of the battery system is increased to increase the efficiency of the electric motor drive system. Additionally, the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technique is used to ensure high controllability. However, high-voltage and high-speed PWM switching controls for system efficiency generate high common mode voltage (CMV), and shaft voltage is induced in the bearing. This results in a shortened bearing life and potential damage. Therefore, this paper proposes a method to reduce the shaft voltage of the motor through a novel hybrid shield ring structure. It also analyzes how to improve the cooling performance of the motor using a shield ring. First, the parasitic capacitance inside the motor is analyzed. Then, the shaft voltage reduction technology is analyzed according to the material of the shield ring. Finally, experiments validate the proposed method. There are Quaternary paleochannels in the left bank of the lower reaches of the Taedong River in the southeastern side of Pyongyang. We aimed to determine the possibility to find Paleolithic sites by locating terraces and paleochannels using digital elevation models (DEM) and Landsat ETM+. The study on paleochannels focused on survey of terrace of the 80–100 m high, associated with the Paleolithic site, performing topography (elevation, slope and aspect) analysis with DEM data and FCC (False Color Component), BR (Band Ratio), PCA (Principal Component Analysis), ISODATA, and SAM with Landsat ETM+ image. The results show that the analysis method using DEM and ETM+ is effective to find Paleolithic sites through surveys of terrace and paleochannel and analysis of facies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is a life-threatening viral zoonosis. The causative agent of this disease is the Dabie bandavirus, which is usually known as the SFTS virus (SFTSV). Although the role of vertebrates in SFTSV transmission to humans remains uncertain, some reports have suggested that dogs could potentially transmit SFTSV to humans. Consequently, preventive measures against SFTSV in dogs are urgently needed. In the present study, dogs were immunized three times at two-week intervals with formaldehyde-inactivated SFTSV with two types of adjuvants. SFTSV (KCD46) was injected into all dogs two weeks after the final immunization. Control dogs showed viremia from 2 to 4 days post infection (dpi), and displayed white pulp atrophy in the spleen, along with a high level of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labelling assay (TUNEL) positive area. However, the inactivated SFTSV vaccine groups exhibited rare pathological changes and significantly reduced TUNEL positive areas in the spleen. Furthermore, SFTSV viral loads were not detected at any of the tested dpi. Our results indicate that both adjuvants can be safely used in combination with an inactivated SFTSV formulation to induce strong neutralizing antibodies. Inactivated SFTSV vaccines effectively prevent pathogenicity and viremia in dogs infected with SFTSV. Purpose: To date, there are few reports about mpox case series in China, and scarce information is available about the in-vivo kinetics of T-cell responses in the early stage of mpox infection. This study aims to investigate the clinical difference among mpox patients with and without human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Patients and Methods: A total of 56 patients diagnosed with mpox by Chengdu Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and hospitalized in Public Health Clinical Center of Chengdu were retrospectively included and divided into an HIV-infected group (n=23) and a non-HIV-infected group (n=33). Clinical characteristics and serum chemistry findings of mpox patients were collected in order to analyze the differences between the HIV-infected group and the non-HIV-infected group. Results: Multiple laboratory abnormalities, including elevated C-reactive protein (69.1%), hypocalcemia (50.9%), elevated CD3+CD8+T counts (47.0%) and inverted ratio of CD3+CD4+T to CD3+CD8+T (64.7%) were common in mpox cases. There were statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05) in age, serum calcium levels, CD3+CD4+T counts, the ratio of CD3+CD4+T to CD3+CD8+T, proportion with > 10 rashes, incidence of proctitis anus and time from rash growth to rash scab shedding between HIV-infected group and non-HIV-infected group. In the early stage of mpox infection, the median of CD3+CD8+T counts in the non-HIV-infected group was significantly higher than that in healthy donors (P< 0.001), and the median of CD3+CD4+T/CD3+CD8+T ratio was significantly lower (P< 0.001). The median of CD3+CD4+T counts in mpox patients co-infected with HIV significantly decreased compared to the pre-infection level (p =0.033). Conclusion: Our study indicates that mpox co-infected with HIV patients have longer lasting rash lesions and a higher incidence of proctitis anus. Bladder storage dysfunction is associated with low quality of life in men and remains a challenging field in pharmacotherapy because of low persistence followed by patient-perceived lack of efficacy and adverse effects. The persistent desire for the development of novel pharmacotherapy is evident, leading to numerous research efforts based on its pathophysiology. This review describes the pathophysiology, current pharmacotherapeutic strategies, and emerging novel drugs for male bladder storage dysfunction. The section on emerging pharmacotherapy provides an overview of current research, focusing on high-potential target molecules, particularly those being evaluated in ongoing clinical trials. As pharmacotherapies targeting alpha-adrenergic, beta-adrenergic, and muscarinic receptors – the current primary targets for treating male bladder storage dysfunction – have demonstrated insufficient efficacy and side effects, researchers are exploring various alternative molecular targets. Numerous targets have been identified as central to regulating bladder afferent nerve activity, and their pharmacological effects and potential have been evaluated in animal-based experiments. However, there is a limited number of clinical trials for these new pharmacotherapies, and they have not demonstrated clear superiority over current treatments. Objective: Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors are used for targeted therapy for ovarian cancer with homologous recombination deficiency (HRD). In this study, we aimed to develop a homologous recombination deficiency prediction model to predict the genomic integrity (GI) index of the SOPHiA DDM HRD Solution from the Oncomine Comprehensive Assay (OCA) Plus. We also tried to a find cut-off value of the genomic instability metric (GIM) of the OCA Plus that correlates with the GI index of the SOPHiA DDM HRD Solution. Methods: We included 87 cases with high-grade ovarian serous carcinoma from five tertiary referral hospitals in Republic of Korea. We developed an HRD prediction model to predict the GI index of the SOPHiA DDM HRD Solution. As predictor variables in the model, we used the HRD score, which included percent loss of heterozygosity (%LOH), percent telomeric allelic imbalance (%TAI), percent large-scale state transitions (%LST), and the genomic instability metric (GIM). To build the model, we employed a penalized logistic regression technique. Results: The final model equation is -21.77 + 0.200 × GIM + 0.102 × %LOH + 0.037 × %TAI + 0.261 × %LST. To improve the performance of the prediction model, we added a borderline result category to the GI results. The accuracy of our HRD status prediction model was 0.958 for the test set. The accuracy of HRD status using GIM with a cut-off value of 16 was 0.911. Conclusion: The Oncomine Comprehensive Assay Plus provides a reliable biomarker for homologous recombination deficiency. A catalytic, regioselective Friedel–Crafts alkylation of beta-naphthol with allylic alcohols has been developed. This procedure allows for selective α-alkylation of β-naphthol with a p-toluenesulfonic acid catalyst. This transformation demonstrated functionalized naphthol synthesis under mild reaction conditions with high product yields – 20 examples with up to 96% yields. The synergization of 3D graphene with magnetic nanoparticles provides effective strategies to shield electromagnetic waves. However, the uniform distribution of magnetic nanoparticles within the 3D graphene network still remains a great challenge, owing to the agglomeration tendency of the magnetic nanoparticles. Herein, we report a facile method to in situ fabricate 3D graphene decorated with highly dispersed nickel nanoparticles (Ni NPs) by laser conversion from the polyimide/Ni(II) precursor film. In this process, 3D graphene was generated by CO2 laser scribing of the polyimide film, accompanied by carbothermal reduction of Ni(II) to form Ni NPs. Significantly, in the precursor film, carboxylate ions were introduced to complex with Ni(II), leading to a uniform dispersion of Ni(II), thus Ni NPs with high dispersibility in 3D graphene networks were achieved after laser fabrication. As a result, massive heterogeneous interfaces and dense magnetic coupling networks were realized in the graphene/Ni composite, which is conducive to improving polarization loss and magnetic loss for the dissipation of incident electromagnetic waves. Combined with the multiple electromagnetic wave dissipation paths provided by 3D graphene, the graphene/Ni composite exhibits absorption-dominated electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE). At an Ni content of 5.3 wt%, the EMI SE of the double-layer graphene/Ni composite was 94 dB with an adsorption ratio of 91% in the X-band. Recent studies have revealed the potential of 2D moiré superlattices as a condensed matter quantum simulator. The realization of different lattice model Hamiltonians in moiré superlattices has become the focus of researches. Here, it shows that, compared to bilayer moiré superlattices where there is only one interface, the interference between moiré patterns at different interfaces in 2D multilayer structures allows the physical realization of more complicated lattice models. The concept is demonstrated by trilayer moiré superlattices (TMSLs) of MoS2, where it finds that isolated flat moiré bands appear near the valence band edge, and they can be described by the honeycomb lattice ionic Hubbard model. More importantly, the hopping strength, the on‐site Coulomb repulsion, and the staggered potential in the TMSLs are highly tunable through the control of the twist angle, the dielectric environment, and the perpendicular electric field. It is possible to achieve various transitions between distinct quantum phases in the TMSLs, spanning from weak to strong correlation regimes. An engine with a cylinder dedicated to providing enriched EGR (D-EGR) has been demonstrated by Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). A vehicle equipped with the D-EGR engine showed more than 10% of fuel economy improvement over various driving cycles. Despite a much higher level of EGR than a conventional engine, combustion in the engine is maintained stable since reformates such as H2 and CO from rich combustion increase dilution tolerance. Thus, it is deemed that precise real-time information of the level of reformates in the engine is critical to maintain stable combustion especially during transients. In this paper, a method to estimate intake burned gas and reformate mass fractions of the D-EGR engine is developed and validated through simulations. We study whether fund managers' industry experience is an important source of value creation in hedge fund activism. We find that the targets of industry‐expert fund managers realize higher activism announcement returns and better operating performance, particularly when fund managers' industry expertise is more valuable for targets. These targets also engage in more focused acquisition and divestiture activities in industries where fund managers have experience, allocate more employees to these industries, and cut investments more in the postacquisition period. Simple Summary: This study investigated the ability of MRI to assist in predicting different risks and genetic types of endometrial cancer. The goal was to determine whether MRI could be used to predict the aggressiveness of cancer and identify its genetic characteristics, thereby guiding doctors in choosing the best treatment options. We found that women at higher risk typically had larger tumors and more impeded water diffusion than low-risk patients did. We also attempted to connect MRI data with the genetic profile of the cancer patients. Although the results were obtained early, they suggested that MRI could help identify the genetic features of tumors, which is important for customizing treatment for each patient. Our study adds to the evidence that MRI may be a key tool not only for diagnosing endometrial cancer but also for planning more personalized treatments for patients based on the specific traits of their cancers observed via MRI scans. This study evaluated the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of endometrial cancer (EC) patients and identified differences based on risk group and molecular classification. The study involved a total of 175 EC patients. The MRI data were retrospectively reviewed and compared based on the risk of recurrence. Additionally, the associations between imaging phenotypes and genomic signatures were assessed. The low-risk and non-low-risk groups (intermediate, high-intermediate, high, metastatic) showed significant differences in tumor diameter (p < 0.001), signal intensity and heterogeneity on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) (p = 0.003), deep myometrial invasion (involvement of more than 50% of the myometrium), cervical invasion (p < 0.001), extrauterine extension (p = 0.002), and lymphadenopathy (p = 0.003). Greater diffusion restriction and more heterogeneity on DWI were exhibited in the non-low-risk group than in the low-risk group. Deep myometrial invasion, cervical invasion, extrauterine extension, lymphadenopathy, recurrence, and stage discrepancy were more common in the non-low-risk group (p < 0.001). A significant difference in microsatellite stability status was observed in the heterogeneity of the contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images (p = 0.027). However, no significant differences were found in MRI parameters related to TP53 mutation. MRI features can be valuable predictors for differentiating risk groups in patients with EC. Enhanced continental phosphorus input into the ocean has been suggested as a potential trigger for the transient oxygenation events during the mid‐Proterozoic; however, the response of phosphorus cycling to these marine oxygenations remains unclear. Here, we report the changes in phosphorus cycling associated with a ∼1.7 Ga transient oxygenation. Abundant authigenic aluminum phosphate–sulfate mineral svanbergite (SrAl3(PO4) (SO4) (OH)6; 8.02 ± 4.92 wt%) is identified within the ∼1.7 Ga Yunmengshan ironstones from the Xiong'er Basin, North China and other contemporaneous basins. This observation provides new evidence to support the suggestion that early diagenetic aluminum phosphate‐sulfate minerals could have represented a critical sink of marine phosphorus during the Proterozoic. We suggest that atmospheric oxygenation and concomitant changes in porewater redox chemistry may have enhanced the formation of early diagenetic phosphates, leading to a negative feedback on the oceanic phosphorus reservoir and atmospheric oxygen levels. The elevated phosphorus and sulfate inputs from the enhanced continental weathering and oxygenation may have promoted the formation of aluminum phosphate‐sulfate minerals. This, in turn, reduced the bio‐availability of phosphorus in the marine environment, ultimately limiting marine productivity and leading to a negative feedback on the oxygenation event. Semiconductor devices are often operated at elevated temperatures that are well above zero Kelvin, which is the temperature in most first-principles density functional calculations. Computational approaches to computing and understanding the properties of semiconductors at finite temperatures are thus in critical demand. In this review, we discuss the recent progress in computationally assessing the electronic and phononic band structures of semiconductors at finite temperatures. As an emerging semiconductor with particularly strong temperature-induced renormalization of the electronic and phononic band structures, halide perovskites are used as a representative example to demonstrate how computational advances may help to understand the band structures at elevated temperatures. Overactive bladder (OAB) is a symptom-based syndrome defined by urinary urgency, frequency, and nocturia with or without urge incontinence. The causative pathology is diverse; including bladder outlet obstruction (BOO), bladder ischemia, aging, metabolic syndrome, psychological stress, affective disorder, urinary microbiome, localized and systemic inflammatory responses, etc. Several hypotheses have been suggested as mechanisms of OAB generation; among them, neurogenic, myogenic, and urothelial mechanisms are well-known hypotheses. Also, a series of local signals called autonomous myogenic contraction, micromotion, or afferent noises, which can occur during bladder filling, may be induced by the leak of acetylcholine (ACh) or urothelial release of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). They can be transmitted to the central nervous system through afferent fibers to trigger coordinated urgency-related detrusor contractions. Antimuscarinics, commonly known to induce smooth muscle relaxation by competitive blockage of muscarinic receptors in the parasympathetic postganglionic nerve, have a minimal effect on detrusor contraction within therapeutic doses. In fact, they have a predominant role in preventing signals in the afferent nerve transmission process. β3-adrenergic receptor (AR) agonists inhibit afferent signals by predominant inhibition of mechanosensitive Aδ-fibers in the normal bladder. However, in pathologic conditions such as spinal cord injury, it seems to inhibit capsaicin-sensitive C-fibers. Particularly, mirabegron, a β3-agonist, prevents ACh release in the BOO-induced detrusor overactivity model by parasympathetic prejunctional mechanisms. A recent study also revealed that vibegron may have 2 mechanisms of action: inhibition of ACh from cholinergic efferent nerves in the detrusor and afferent inhibition via urothelial β3-AR. Astaxanthin (ASX) shows strong antioxidant property and is widely used as a fish feed additive. However, the underlying molecular mechanism of how ASX improves the ability of fish to resist bacterial infection remains largely unknown. To investigate the effects of dietary ASX from Haematococcus pluvialis on pearl gentian grouper, transcriptome combined with intestinal microbe analysis was conducted. The results of RNA-Seq analysis demonstrated that compared with the control group, the differently expressed genes of ASX-treated group were enriched in AMPK, autophagy, HIF-1, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. 16 s rDNA of intestinal microbiota analysis revealed that the dominant bacteria in the intestine of fish fed with ASX were Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes. Moreover, ASX-fed significantly reduced the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and NF-κb mRNA expression in fish with bacterial infection. ASX treatment also prolonged the survival time of fish in the infection condition. Our work reveals that ASX systematically improves the antibacterial ability of grouper by regulating AMPK, autophagy, HIF-1, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and assisting in the colonization of intestinal dominant flora. Thermal runaway is of great interest for developing high-performance Li-ion batteries (LIBs) and is accelerated by melting a separator at the elevated temperature during the battery failure. Herein, we report a facile polymeric coating method for polypropylene (PP)-based separators (PPSs) that enhances thermal, mechanical, and electrochemical performances. A conceptually designed double bond-containing polyvinylidene fluoride terpolymer (DPVDF) was coated on PPSs (DPSs) employing a simple dip-coating method, followed by a cross-linking process for DPVDF (DPSX). The modulus of DPSX increased from 49.06 MPa (PPS) to 64.29 MPa. The thermal shrinkage area of DPSX decreased by less than 10% at 140 °C for 30 min, whereas PPSs showed a 31.2% shrinkage. High-temperature open-circuit voltage tests (140 °C) showed that LiFePO4 (LFP) half-cells with PPS and DPS were short-circuited after 10 and 40 min, respectively. However, the LFP cell with DPSX showed no voltage drops even after 2 h. Furthermore, electrolyte wetting was significantly enhanced for DPSs and DPSX compared to PPSs. Moreover, electrolyte uptake was also increased from 65.25% (PPS) to 196.63% (DPSX), which is attributed to the enhanced wettability and pore structure. The long-term cycling and rate capability values of the LFP half-cells assembled with DPS and DPSX were significantly higher than those of the LFP half-cell with PPSs, which is closely related to the reduced cell resistance owing to the interfacial affinity of DPSX. Lastly, it was found that the DPVDF coating granted self-extinguishing functions to the separator. Flame tests demonstrated that DPSs and DPSX were instantly extinguished within a second and retained more than 74.89% of their weight after burning tests, while PPSs lost more than 43.46% (dried) and 59.65% (wetted) of their weight. Aim: This study aimed to develop a sonodynamic–chemodynamic nanoparticle functioning on glutathione depletion in tumor immunotherapy. Materials & methods: The liposome-encapsulated 2,2-azobis[2-(2-imidazolin-2-yl) propane] dihydrochloride (AIPH) and copper–cysteine nanoparticles, AIPH/Cu-Cys@Lipo, were synthesized with a one-pot method. 4T1 cells were injected into female BALB/c mice for modeling. Results: AIPH/Cu-Cys@Lipo was well synthesized. It generated alkyl radicals upon ultrasound stimulation. AIPH/Cu-Cys@Lipo promoted the generation of -OH via a Fenton-like reaction. Both in vitro and in vivo experiments verified that AIPH/Cu-Cys@Lipo significantly inhibited tumor development by decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential, activating CD4+ and CD8+ T cells and promoting the expression of IL-2 and TNF-α. Objectives: We examined sex differences of lower urinary tract function and molecular mechanisms in mice with and without spinal cord injury (SCI). Methods: SCI was induced by Th8−9 spinal cord transection in male and female mice. We evaluated cystometrograms (CMG) and electromyography (EMG) of external urethral sphincter (EUS) at 6 weeks after SCI in spinal intact (SI) and SCI mice. The mRNA levels of Piezo2 and TRPV1 were measured in L6‐S1 dorsal root ganglia (DRG). Protein levels of nerve growth factor (NGF) in the bladder mucosa was evaluated using an enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay. Results: Sex differences were found in the EUS behavior during voiding as voiding events in female mice with or without SCI occurred during EUS relaxation periods without EUS bursting activity whereas male mice with or without SCI urinated during EUS bursting activity in EMG recordings. In both sexes, SCI decreased voiding efficiency along with increased tonic EUS activities evident as reduced EUS relaxation time in females and longer active periods of EUS bursting activity in males. mRNA levels of Piezo2 and TRPV1 of DRG in male and female SCI mice were significantly upregulated compared with SI mice. NGF in the bladder mucosa showed a significant increase in male and female SCI mice compared with SI mice. However, there were no significant differences in Piezo2 or TRPV1 levels in DRG or NGF protein levels in the bladder mucosa between male and female SCI mice. Conclusions: We demonstrated that female and male mice voided during EUS relaxation and EUS bursting activity, respectively. In the context of high-temperature water vapor treatment, Zn-Mg-Al alloy-coated steel sheets exhibit the emergence of a black surface. This study aims to explore the factors and mechanisms contributing to surface blackening by inducing black surfaces on Zn-Mg-Al alloy-coated steel sheets, which were fabricated through molten coating subjected to water vapor treatment at 150 degrees Celsius. The surface composition was predominantly identified as zinc oxide (ZnO) film validated through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Morphological analysis of the surface and cross-section post-water vapor treatment revealed a disrupted lamellar structure with diffused features, resulting from the formation of an oxide film. Optical properties analysis demonstrated an increased absorbance and a decreased bandgap energy after water vapor treatment, which is indicative of an augmented blackening effect. Consequently, the high-temperature water vapor treatment led to the formation of oxides on the surface with the highly reactive Mg and Al extracting oxygen from the predominantly present ZnO surface. We examine the value impact of independent directors nominated by activists (Activist IDs). Firms appointing Activist IDs experience larger value increases than firms appointing other directors, particularly when Activist IDs have private firm experience and when their nominators remain as shareholders. This value increase persists over a long period and is greater than that of activism events without director appointments. The increase is also higher among firms with greater monitoring needs and entrenched boards. Moreover, the appointments of Activist IDs are greeted more positively by the market, and Activist IDs obtain more favorable shareholder votes and additional future directorships. The relationship between systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) as an inflammatory marker and DVT formation remains unclear. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the association between SII and aSAH-associated DVT following endovascular treatment. We enrolled 562 consecutive patients with aSAH after endovascular treatment at three centers from January 2019 to September 2021. The endovascular treatments included simple coil embolization and stent-assisted coil embolization. Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) was assessed by Color Doppler ultrasonography (CDUS). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to establish the model. We assessed the association of the SII, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), the systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and DVT by using restricted cubic spline (RCS). ASAH-associated DVT was found in 136 (24.20%) patients. Based on the multiple logistic regression analysis, the correlation was found between aSAH-associated DVT and elevated SII (fourth quartile) (adjusted odds ratio = 8.20 [95% confidence interval, 3.76–17.92]; p < 0.001 [p for trend < 0.001]), elevated NLR (fourth quartile) (adjusted odds ratio = 6.94 [95% confidence interval, 3.24–14.89]; p < 0.001 [p for trend < 0.001]), elevated SIRI (fourth quartile) (adjusted odds ratio = 4.82 [95% confidence interval, 2.36–9.84]; p < 0.001 [p for trend < 0.001]), and elevated PLR (fourth quartile) (adjusted odds ratio = 5.49 [95% confidence interval, 2.61–11.57]; p < 0.001 [p for trend < 0.001]). Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease caused by Dabie bandavirus, which belongs to the genus Bandavirus, family Phenuiviridae, and order Bunyavirales. It has been found in tick species, various animals, and humans. The aim of this study was to detect RNA of antigens and antibodies against SFTS virus (SFTSV) among poultry such as chickens, ducks, and wild geese from five provinces in the Republic of Korea (ROK). Materials and Methods: A one-step reverse transcriptase (RT)–PCR and nested PCR were performed after viral RNA extraction. The phylogenetic tree was constructed after sequencing data were analyzed and aligned. An indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and a neutralization test (NT) were performed to test for IgG antibodies of SFTSV. Results: Of a total of 606 poultry serum samples collected, 568 and 539 serum samples were used to perform ELISA and NT, respectively. Of a total of 606 serum samples tested by RT-PCR targeting the S segment, 15 (2.5%) were positive for SFTSV. From the 15 positive serum samples for the SFTSV antigen, three from chickens, three from ducks, and one from wild geese were classified as genotype B-2; one from chickens was classified as genotype B-3; and three from chickens and four from wild geese were classified as genotype D. Of the 568 serum samples tested by ELISA, 83 (28.0%) from chickens, 81 (32.9%) from ducks, and 8 (30.8%) from wild geese were seropositive. Of the 539 serum samples for which an NT was performed, 113 (38.6%) from chickens and 75 (30.5%) from ducks were positive for SFTSV antibodies. Conclusions: The results of this study provide useful information regarding detection of SFTSV RNA and antibodies among poultry and the possibility of SFTSV transmission in various types of poultry, including chickens, ducks, and wild geese, in the ROK. Earth's biosphere witnessed the first major extinction event in the Phanerozoic during the Cambrian Age 4, with a genera loss up to ∼45%. The traditional view suggested that marine anoxia was the main cause of the biotic crisis, yet recent geochemical investigations yielded highly debated opinions on marine redox states during the Cambrian Age 4. Herein, we supplement new geochemical evidence for expanded marine euxinia at the extinction intervals on the Yangtze Platform, South China. Most importantly, modern‐level sedimentary δ98Mo (∼+2.34‰) records were most parsimoniously explained by transitory expansion of continental margin euxinia and concomitant intensification of sedimentary Mo sequestration via Fe‒Mn shuttles in the global ocean. The results clarify global marine redox conditions during the Cambrian Age 4, and lend firm support to a causal link between expanded marine euxinia and the extinction event. Sulfidic waters enriched in H2S are lethal for marine animals. Therefore, expanded sulfidic waterbodies in the global ocean could have served as a major driver for the mass extinction event. Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging zoonotic tick-borne disease in East Asia caused by the SFTS virus (SFTSV). It is to investigate the presence of SFTSV RNA and antibodies in horses from a slaughterhouse and equestrian centers in the Republic of Korea (ROK). A prevalence study of SFTSV-specific RNA and antibodies was designed from 889 horses in the ROK. Materials and Methods: Serum samples were collected from horses at a slaughterhouse and equestrian centers from 2018 to 2020. To detect the presence of SFTSV, RNA was extracted from the serum samples, and a nested reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was conducted. Sequencing data were analyzed, and a phylogenetic tree was constructed using the maximum-likelihood method with Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 7.0 software. The horse sera were also tested for SFTSV-specific immunoglobulin G antibodies using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: Twelve of 889 (1.3%) horse sera were positive for SFTSV RNA, and 452 of 887 (51.0%) horse sera were seropositive by ELISA. Among the RT-PCR-positive samples, 12 of the SFTSV S-segment sequences were classified as sub-genotypes B-2 (n = 6) and B-3 (n = 6). ELISA analysis was evaluated by comparison with neutralization test. We investigated SFTSV infection in horses over a 3-year period, but sampling was not performed evenly by season; continuous surveillance of SFTSV in horses is needed. Conclusions: We report the detection of SFTSV RNA and provide serological data on SFTSV prevalence in horses in the ROK. The detection of SFTSV-specific RNA and antibodies in horses, which are in close proximity to humans, suggests that SFTS is an emerging and important health issue, indicating that more attention to its relevance for equestrian workers is needed. Dynamic random access memories (DRAMs) are currently used as the core memory in computing systems because of their high speed and density. Their demand should continue to grow owing to increased data usage. A unit cell in a DRAM consists of one transistor and one capacitor, and the data are stored in the capacitor. As the size of the unit cell decreases to improve the memory density by aggressive scaling, it is important to secure sufficient capacitance in the capacitor. In this regard, technological advances in the fabrication of capacitors are of great importance; accordingly, the materials and processing of high‐k thin films require developmental innovations. Besides, it is necessary to develop electrode materials that optimize the function of high‐k thin films. In this review, recent advances in achieving sufficient capacitance in DRAM capacitors are summarized from structural and material/process perspectives, and the future direction of DRAM capacitor development is discussed. Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a key technique that enables the growth of functional thin films for DRAM capacitors; thus, recent advances in the deposition of high‐k and electrode thin films grown using the ALD technique are addressed. Simple Summary: While a significant number of ECs are successfully treated without recurrence, some cases of EC still result in death even in their early stages. Incorporating molecular classification enhances prognostic accuracy, aiding tailored treatments. This approach has been utilized by the 2021 ESGO/ESTRO/ESP guidelines, the 2022 ESMO guidelines, and the updated 2023 FIGO classification. Our study employed POLE ddPCR, a cost-effective and easy-to-perform test, as an alternative to POLE NGS for molecular classification. This classification was further enriched by the established prognostic marker, L1CAM, resulting in molecular L1CAM classification. The NSMP group was the largest heterogeneous subgroup. Efforts have been made to find additional markers for further subclassification. When we further categorized the NSMP group, which demonstrates an intermediate prognosis between the POLEmut/MMR-D group and the p53abn group, we were able to distinguish the NSMP-L1CAM-positive subgroup, which exhibited a prognosis similar to the p53-mutated subgroup in terms of poorer outcomes. In multivariate analysis, the molecular L1CAM classification showed an independent prognostic factor for recurrence-free survival and overall survival. Aim: In order to enhance risk stratification in early-stage endometrial cancer (EC), we conducted molecular classification using surrogate markers, including the POLE droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) and L1CAM immunohistochemistry (IHC). Method: We analyzed archival tumor tissue from 183 early-stage EC patients. POLE pathogenic mutations of P286R, V411L, S297F, A456P, and S459F within exons 9, 13, and 14 were detected using a ddPCR, while the mismatch repair (MMR) status was determined by MMR protein IHC and MSI tests. Additionally, we conducted IHC for p53 and L1CAM. Results: The 183 ECs were categorized into four subgroups: POLE-mutated (15.9%), MMR-deficient (29.0%), p53-abnormal (8.7%), and non-specific molecular profile (NSMP, 46.4%). We further subcategorized the NSMP subgroup into NSMP-L1CAMneg (41.5%) and NSMP-L1CAMpos (4.9%), which we refer to as the molecular L1CAM classification. The molecular L1CAM classification was an independent prognostic factor for recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) (p < 0.001, each). Conclusion: Integrating molecular L1CAM classification can enhance risk stratification in early-stage EC, providing valuable prognostic information to guide treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes. Reservoir computing (RC) is a neural computing paradigm especially well-suited for learning dynamical systems by leveraging an untrained reservoir layer, providing high-dimensional input encoding with fading memory property. Since only the readout weights are trained under RC, linear regression learning algorithms are sufficient, leading to significant improvements in computational complexity and energy efficiency as compared to other deep neural networks (DNNs). RC offers an alternative solution to sidestep the shortcomings of data scarcity and the vanishing gradient problem. More importantly, such a network structure is amenable to hardware implementation using a variety of devices, circuits, and systems, making RC a good candidate to replace sophisticated DNNs as a lightweight classifier at the edge for internet of things (IoT) applications. In this article, we provide an overview of recent advances in RC hardware and their applications for mobile edge intelligence. Specifically, we will demonstrate the design strategies of RC in opto-electronic configuration, fully digital system, and silicon with the mixed-signal integrated circuit approach. Moreover, we will expose a novel implementation approach using emerging materials, designing the way for RC to be used in the next-generation neuromorphic computing systems. Building upon these efficient RC models, their applicability and effectiveness against the state-of-the-art are then demonstrated through diverse machine learning benchmarks spanning the area of IoT, communication networks, and healthcare.
