The Covid‐19 pandemic has challenged public health practitioners and clinicians at multiple levels to intentionally consider the impact of social isolation on health outcomes. Many community‐based programmes design interventions to address tangible challenges within the social determinants of health, such as asset insecurity or food insecurity, to address health inequities. The growing need to address social isolation within marginalised communities also requires organisations to collaborate and create community partnerships that strengthen their own social integration within the community. The present research reports on the results of a Social Network Analysis (SNA) of community programmes within three southern U.S. cities and their local collaborations to address social isolation. After interviewing representatives of 46 community organisations, it was found that social service organisations that also offer public health services play a central role in community efforts to improve social isolation. The participating organisations primarily collaborate through referrals and information sharing, and report inadequate resources. With a growing recognition that social services and supports play a considerable role in addressing health inequities, this study provides evidence of opportunities for interorganisational collaboration to promote individual and community health. As studies examining the effectiveness of food security interventions collectively are sparse, this review examined the most effective community-based and system-level interventions that have increased nutritious food consumption across food-insecure populations. Following PRISMA-guidelines, 22 articles included were classified into six categories: Educational and Behavioral Programs; Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Programs; Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer; Discounted Food Options; Emergency Food Assistance Programs; and Multicomponent Programs. This review concludes that future considerations for positively impacting food security and nutritious food intake should give attention to community and system-level multicomponent interventions that address the specific social and economic barriers facing the target population. This paper highlights the potential roles of implicit bias and implicit association testing (IAT) in the practice of reflexivity. In the paper, eight leisure scholars reflected on their explicit and implicit prejudice and privilege and its influence on their efforts to conduct critical leisure research. Data were collected from these scholars in three stages. First, participant-researchers engaged in a 'conscious,' written, personal reflexive exercise considering their biases and how these biases influenced their research. Second, participants completed four IATs – a parallel 'unconscious' reflexive exercise. Third, participants individually and collectively reflected on results of the IATs in relation to their conscious responses. The authors report results from thematic analyses of these reflections; consider practical opportunities, challenges, and cautions associated with using implicit measures to denote one's positionality; and initiate a theory driven discussion of broader uses of implicit measures in critical leisure research. Drawing on the DJ's divination as hope purveyor and healer, this commentary examines the trendiest club scene during the COVID-19 and worldwide social distancing—#ClubQuarantine. It explores how DJ and producer Derrick "D-Nice" Jones uses Instagram Live to reproduce and perform hope through dual components of his musical sets: 1) participatory/performative healing and 2) cultural preservation. Situating this DJ within the Black Aesthetic, these two elements are explored in conversation with Kelly's (2013) performance of hope theory. This commentary provides understanding for leisure scholars about the flow of Black visual and aesthetic culture and how the house party or the club can be a space of healing and cultural preservation —even in the face of a global health and economic crisis. In the United States, the mission of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention includes the development and implementation of prevention and intervention programs. While many of these initiatives include recreation, there remains no standard for recreation programs. The purpose of this study was to review the written authorities for each state to identify the minimum requirements for recreation programming in juvenile justice facilities. Among other discoveries, we found that across all states, there is not a shared definition of recreation, only 70% of states have daily mandatory minimums requirements, only 44% of states require youth be given time outside, and only 56% of states include justifications for denying youth access to recreation. Implications for professionals and researchers are discussed, as well as suggestions for further inquiry and the integration of recreation into the treatment process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on data collected from 12 young Black women, and the literary voice of Janie Crawford, Zora Neale Hurston’s 1937 protagonist in Their Eyes Were Watching God, Kelly Pryor creates an ethnodramatic script reflecting the perception, portrayal, and performance of hope. Reflectively acknowledging her role as ethnographer, Kelly Pryor creates this script by re(membering) narratives from the literary text and transcripts, while maintaining fidelity to each interlocutor’s words. Kelly Pryor uses this one-act play to demonstrate the Black female literary tradition is a space of transcendence that echoes social theory, further enabling her to explore the complex voices of identity and hope in contemporary qualitative inquiry. Creating a new genre of ethnodrama, a literary ethnodrama, Kelly Pryor concludes this experimental method further offers reader and author opportunities for envisioning a world in which art and science coexist to illuminate topics often neglected in empirical investigations.
