We report on passive Q-switching of diode-pumped Pr:YLF visible lasers at 721 nm, 640 nm and 607 nm using CdTe/CdS quantum dot as saturable absorber. At the three wavelengths, the maximum average output powers and the shortest pulse widths are (38.7 mW, 235 ns), (48.3 mW, 226 ns), and (39.6 mW, 295 ns), respectively. The laser results represent the best laser performance of nano-material based Q-switched \rmPr^3+ visible lasers, to the best of our knowledge. CdTe/CdS quantum dot could be very promising in generating ultrashort pulse visible lasers. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

We report here for the first time on the diode-pumped continuous-wave laser operation of an a-cut Tm:CaYAlO4 (CYAO) crystal in a two-mirror laser configuration at about 1850 nm, which is the shortest laser wavelength ever achieved with this material, with a maximum output power of 0.88 W. Using a MoS2 saturable absorber deposited directly onto the surface of the output coupler, the Tm:CYAO laser is then operated in the Q-switched mode with a maximum output power of 0.49 W and the narrowest pulse width of 0.48~\mu \texts . We report a free-running orthogonally polarized dual-wavelength laser at 1313 and 1321 nm with maximum total output power of about 1.73 W using a two-mirror linear cavity. By inserting an etalon into the linear cavity, single-wavelength lasers at 1317 or 1323 nm, two-wavelength lasers at 1317 and 1323 nm, as well as four-wavelength lasers at 1313, 1317, 1323 and 1370 nm can be achieved with maximum output powers of about 0.73, 0.63, 0.78 and 0.25 W, respectively. About 10-nm wavelength tunability from about 1313 to 1323 nm is also realized by inserting the etalon into a three-mirror V-type Nd:YLF laser cavity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
