Gut dysbiosis and liver cirrhosis are two corelated complications that highly disturbs the metabolism of a normal human body. Liver cirrhosis is scarring of the hepatic tissue and gut dysbiosis is the imbalance in the microbiome of the gut. Gut dysbiosis in cirrhosis occurs due to increased permeability of the intestinal membrane which might induce immune responses and damage the normal functioning of the body. Dysbiosis can cause liver damage from cirrhosis and can further lead to liver failure by hepatocellular carcinoma. In this review we discuss if eubiosis can revert the poorly functioning cirrhotic liver to normal functioning state? A normal microbiome converts various liver products into usable forms that regulates the overgrowth of microbiome in the gut. The imbalance caused by dysbiosis retards the normal functioning of liver and increases the complications. To correct this dysbiosis, measures like use of antibiotics with probiotics and prebiotics are used. This correction of the gut microbiome serves as a ray of hope to recover from this chronic illness. In case of alcohol induced liver cirrhosis, intervention of microbes can possibly be helpful in modulating the addiction as well as associated complications like depression as microbes are known to produce and consume neurotransmitters that are involved in alcohol addiction. Hence a correction of gut liver brain axis using microbiome can be a milestone achieved not only for treatment of liver cirrhosis but also for helping alcohol addicts quit and live a healthy or at least a near healthy life. The freshwater rivers from Shiwalik Himalayas have abundant prawn resources of high economic value and play a major role in the livelihood of local fishermen. The present study aimed to determine the variation in prawn abundance explained by changes in water quality among three different streams (Gho Manhasa stream, Chadwal stream and Nagri stream). The highest abundance of prawns was found in the Gho Manhasa during the premonsoon season and lowest in the Chadwal stream during the monsoon season. Chadwal stream witnessed maximum anthropogenic activities resulting in the decline of the water quality affecting prawn fauna. Cluster analysis based on similarity in terms of prawn abundance revealed that the Chadwal stream is different from the other two streams whereas non-metric multidimensional scaling plot based on species abundance corresponding to different seasons and physiochemical parameters showed the water quality of the monsoon season of the Chadwal stream to be extremely different. Principal component analysis showed clear separation across various sites and seasons based on physicochemical parameters. Karl Pearson correlation coefficient and canonical correspondence analysis indicated that the turbidity, total dissolved solids, nitrate, chloride, calcium, magnesium and dissolved oxygen are significant parameters influencing the abundance of prawns. The population of Macrobrachiumdayanum and Macrobrachiumkistnense was very less in the Chadwal stream owing to unfavorable physicochemical parameters. The study was conducted during September 2018-August 2019 to study the digenetic trematode infection in fresh water fishes of some of the water bodies viz. Gho-manhasan, Chakrali and Chadwal of Jammu region of J&K union territory. A total of 220 fishes comprising Ophiocephalus punctatus and Xenentodon cancila belonging to families Channidae and Belonidae respectively were examined. A total of 4 digenetic trematode parasites belonging to 4 different families i.e., Euclinostomum heterostomum (Clinostomidae Luhe, 1901); Phyllodistomum tripathi (Gorgoderidae Looss, 1901); Genarchopsis piscicola (Hemiuridae, Luhe, 1901), and Bucephalopsis karvei (Bucephalidae Poche, 1907) were detected. The overall prevalence of digenetic trematode infection was 65.90% and the mean intensity was 3.58. Among these Genarchopsis piscicola showed the highest prevalence (40.38%) with mean intensity 2.95 in the host fish Xenentodon cancila, while in other species the prevalence ranged between 26.23 and 34.62%. According to Global Burden of Disease research 2019, migraine has emerged as a major health concern as it ranked second among the leading causes of disability worldwide. Both genetic and environmental factors are responsible for the onset and progression of migraine. Considerable evidence suggested the role of epigenetic mechanisms in disease etiology. The focus of present communication is to unveil the association of epigenetic modifications with migraine through the detailed analysis of literature available from recent years. DNA methylation and histone modifications are major epigenetic mechanisms which are responsible for the altered gene expression and appearance of disease phenotypes. In addition, modifications of non-coding RNAs are also known to influence expression of genes and development of migraine. The comprehensive understanding of epigenetic alterations would provide insight into the migraine pathogenesis and may guide development of novel drugs for effective migraine treatment. Global reduction in wildlife populations together with rising incidences of hormone-related disorders in humans are principally linked to chemicals that cause alterations in the endocrine system. The use of chemicals exhibiting hormonal disrupting properties has been significantly increased in the industrial, agriculture, and pharmaceutical sectors over the past few decades which poses a great threat to animal life and mankind. Endocrine disruptors; when enters the aquatic ecosystem; not only interfere with the aqua fauna but also with terrestrial and aerial animals linked directly or indirectly with water for food and other ecological interactions. The food chain and food web are responsible for transferring these chemicals to animals of different trophic levels. Several developmental, neurological, reproductive, metabolic, and immune disorders are the consequent effect of EDCs exposure to animals and humans. In the present communication, a detailed analysis of endocrine disruptors in aquatic systems, their impact on animals and human health has been done through the literature available in recent years.
