Purpose: To evaluate the effect of immersion in water on deforma8on of maxillary denture bases created with CAD/CAM and heat-polymerized resin fabrica8on techniques under loading condi8ons. Materials and Methods: 2-mm-thick denture bases were fabricated using four techniques: CAD/CAM milling (CCM; Polywax PMMA blank, Yamachi PMMA disk Yamahachi Dental); 3D prin8ng (3DP; BV005, NextDent Base); compression molding (CM; Luciton 199, Dentsply Sirona); and injec8on molding (IM; Ivobase, Ivoclar; n = 5 per group). Three sta8c 49-N loads were applied perpendicular to each denture base, and the mean strain value (MSV) was recorded with strain gauges a[ached to the denture surface. The denture bases were stored at 37°C in dis8lled water for 14 and 28 days, and the MSVs under the same sta8c load were recorded. Results: The highest MSVs were observed at the posterior palatal seal, tuberosity, and labial notches of the dentures. The lowest MSVs were recorded for the CCM group and then the CM and IM groups. The highest MSVs were recorded for the 3DP group. No significant differences in regional MSVs (P > .05) were observed among the CCM, CM, and IM aber 14 and 28 days in water. Large devia8ons in MSVs were recorded for the 3DP group across the measurement sites aber water exposure (P < .05). Conclusions: CCM had the lowest denture deforma8on under sta8c loading. Aber immersion in water, the deforma8on changes under sta8c loading were stable for CCM, CM, and IM. Based on the transport and polarization relaxation theories, the effects of hydrogen, fluorine, and chlorine atom passivation on the conductivity and dielectric properties of silicon carbide nanowires (SiCNWs) were numerically simulated. The results show that passivation can decrease the dark conductivity of SiCNWs and increase its ultraviolet photoconductivity. Among them, the photoconductivity of univalent (H) passivated SiCNWs is better than that of seven-valent (Cl, F) passivated SiCNWs. In terms of dielectric properties, the passivated SiCNWs exhibit a strong dielectric response in both deep ultraviolet and microwave regions. Hydrogen passivation SiCNWs produce the strongest dielectric response in deep ultraviolet, while fluorine passivation SiCNWs produce the strongest dielectric relaxation in the microwave band, which indicates that atomic passivation SiCNWs have a wide range of applications in ultraviolet optoelectronic devices and microwave absorption and shielding. Combining hydrogen evolution with the conversion of benzyl alcohol (BA) into benzaldehyde (BAD) could provide an alternative pathway for sufficiently utilizing photogenerated electrons and holes to achieve high value chemicals and fuels. Herein, a ZnIn2S4 nanosheet array/one-dimensional Co9S8 hollow nanotube (Co9S8/ZnIn2S4) composite has been fabricated by simple hydrothermal and solvent thermal methods. Without the utilization of sacrificial agents, the optimal 20%-Co9S8/ZnIn2S4 hybrid catalyst shows a superior H2 production of 3070.56 μmol·g–1·h–1 and a high benzyl alcohol conversion rate of 93.2%, which are 4.1 and 2.9 times higher than those of individual ZnIn2S4, respectively. The superior photocatalytic performance over Co9S8/ZnIn2S4 nanocomposites compared with bare ZnIn2S4 can be credited to the introduction of Co9S8 hollow nanotubes as a cocatalyst, which can offer plentiful active sites, improve the absorption of visible light, and facilitate the separation and transfer of electron–hole pairs of ZnIn2S4. Multiple cycling experiments indicate good durability of the Co9S8/ZnIn2S4 nanocomposite. In addition, the in situ electron paramagnetic resonance indicates that α-hydroxybenzyl radicals are the key intermediate of the conversion of BA into BAD. This paper is intended to provide a meaningful reference for the ingenious design of the photocatalyst structure and building a high-performance coupled photocatalytic system with sufficient utilization of electrons and holes. The development of highly active and cost-effective electrocatalysts, such as transition-metal oxides and (oxy)-hydroxides, for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is of great importance in water-splitting electrolyzers. Building nanohybrids is an effective strategy to improve the OER activity of transition-metal oxides and (oxy)-hydroxides. In this work, we present a feather-like CoFe-(oxy)-hydroxide@Co3O4-CeO2 3D hierarchical heterostructure on nickel foam (NF) by coupling amorphous CoFe-(oxy)-hydroxide on Co3O4-CeO2 hybrid nanorods for enhanced OER performance. Owing to the synergistic effect and interface engineering of CoFe-(oxy)-hydroxide, Co3O4, and CeO2, as well as the large electrochemically active surface area with enhanced exposed active sites, the as-prepared CoFe-(oxy)-hydroxide@Co3O4-CeO2 electrode exhibits superior activity with a required overpotential of 0.228 V to achieve 10 mA cm–2 in 1.0 M KOH, which is among the best values for Co3O4-based and CoFe-based OER electrocatalysts. Primary endometrial squamous cell carcinoma (PESCC) is a rare malignant tumor. To investigate the clinical and pathological features of PESCC, two cases of PESCC in Fujian Maternal and Child Health Hospital were retrospectively studied and the literatures were reviewed. Both of the two cases were menopausal women aged 57-62 years, clinically presenting with "vaginal discharge". Case 1 was a non-keratinising squamous cell carcinoma with high-risk HPV infection. Tumor infiltrated in deep myometrium with multifocal intravascular thrombus and macro metastases to one pelvic lymph node (1/15) and abdominal aortic lymph node (1/1). Lung metastasis occurred 36 months after the surgery. After surgical resection and without postoperative supplemental therapy, the patient remained tumor-free for 110 months to date. Case 2 had a history of breast cancer for 5 years and long-term intake of aromatase inhibitor drugs without HPV infection. It was a keratinized squamous cell carcinoma. Tumor also infiltrated in deep myometrium with multifocal intravascular thrombus and one pelvic lymph node metastasis (1/18), However, no metastasis was seen elsewhere. To date, the patient survived for 16 months without tumor after surgery. Both of the two cases expressed squamous epithelial markers P40, P63, and CK5/6, but neither expressed PAX8 or PR. Case 1 had diffuse expression of P16, wild-type P53, and ER-negative. Case 2 had negative P16, mutant P53, and focal positive ER. PESCC is often associated with HPV infection and low estrogen levels. However, studies in the literatures have found that P16 expression is not always consistent with HPV infection, indicating that PESCC cannot be easily classified as HPV-associated or non-dependent like cervical cancer. There are two main patterns of P16 and P53 expression, P16- positive/P53 wild-type and P16-negative/P53-mutant, but no positive expression of both has been seen so far. It is worth noting that we reported the second case of PESCC with a history of breast cancer, where the patient had been taking the oral aromatase inhibitor drug (exemestane) for a long period of time to reduce the estrogen level, indicating the low estrogen level may be also a key factor in the pathogenesis of PESCC. Background: Hepatitis B, often leading to Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), poses a major global health challenge. While Tenofovir (TDF) and Entecavir (ETV) are potent treatments, their comparative effectiveness in improving recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) rates in HBV-related HCC is not well-established. Methods: We conducted an individual patient data meta-analysis using survival data from randomized trials and high-quality propensity score-matched studies to compare the impact of Tenofovir (TDF) and Entecavir (ETV) on RFS and OS in HBV-related HCC patients. Data from six databases and gray literature up to 30 August 2023, were analyzed, utilizing Kaplan-Meier curves, stratified Cox models, and shared frailty models for survival rate assessment and to address between-study heterogeneity. The study employed restricted mean survival time analysis to evaluate differences in RFS and OS between TDF-treated and ETVtreated patients. Additionally, landmark analyses compared early (<2 years) and late (≥2 years) tumor recurrence in these cohorts. Results: This study incorporated seven research articles, covering 4,602 patients with HBV-related HCC (2,082 on TDF and 2,520 on ETV). Within the overall cohort, TDF recipients demonstrated significantly higher RFS (p = 0.042) and OS (p < 0.001) than those on ETV. The stratified Cox model revealed significantly improved OS for the TDF group compared to the ETV group (hazard ratio, 0.756; 95% confidence interval, 0.639-0.896; p = 0.001), a result corroborated by the shared frailty model. Over a follow-up period of 1-8 years, no significant difference was noted in the mean time to death between the TDF and ETV groups. The rates of early recurrence did not significantly differ between the groups (p = 0.735). However, TDF treatment was significantly associated with a reduced risk of late recurrence compared to ETV (p < 0.001). In the HCC resection subgroup, the disparities in OS, early, and late recurrence rates between the two treatments paralleled those seen in the overall cohort. Conclusion: Compared to ETV, TDF may enhance OS and reduce late tumor recurrence risk in HBV-related HCC patients receiving curative treatment. Background: Human parainfluenza virus-1 (HPIV-1) is a notable pathogen instigating acute respiratory tract infections in children. The article is to elucidate the epidemiological and genetic characteristics of HPIV-1 circulating in Hangzhou during the period of 2021–2022. Methods: A cohort of 2360 nasopharyngeal swabs were amassed and subsequently examined via RT-PCR, with HPIV-1 positive samples undergoing P gene sequencing. Results: The highest HPIV-1 infection rates were found in children aged between 3 and 6 years. A pronounced positive rate persisted through the latter half of 2021, with a notable decline observed in the initial half of 2022. All HPIV-1 strains could be clustered into 2 groups: Cluster 1, with strains similar to those found in Japan (LC764865, LC764864), and Cluster 2, with strains similar to the Beijing strain (MW575643). Conclusion: In conclusion, our study contributes to the comprehensive data on the epidemiological and genetic characteristics of HPIV-1 in pediatric patients from Hangzhou, post the COVID-19 peak. In this article, Fe–8.5Mn–1.5Al medium‐manganese steel is taken as the research object, and Gleeble 3500 thermal simulation testing machine is used to conduct isothermal compression at different deformation temperatures, strain rates, and strains in its austenite ferrite two‐phase zone. A constitutive model and a dynamic recrystallization volume fraction model for materials are established, and finite‐element method is used to simulate the temperature, equivalent strain, and dynamic recrystallization volume fraction distribution in different regions of the workpiece under different deformation conditions. By comparing and analyzing the microstructure, finite‐element simulation results, and hot working diagrams obtained from the experiment, the microscopic mechanism of dynamic softening of the material when ferrite and austenite coexist is explained; the transformation of the dynamic softening mechanism of the two phases with the hot deformation process is also explained. Early deformation mainly occurs in softer ferrite, which preferentially undergoes continuous dynamic recrystallization. Austenite has a lower stacking fault energy, and discontinuous dynamic recrystallization (DDRX) occurs when the dislocation density reaches a certain critical value. At the same time, when the strain reaches a certain level, the dynamic softening behavior of ferrite will also transform into DDRX. The optimal deformation conditions for Fe–8.5Mn–1.5Al medium‐manganese steel during warm processing in the two‐phase zone are a temperature of 720 °C, a strain rate of 0.01 s−1, and a large deformation zone. Background and Purpose: Activation of the renin‐angiotensin system, as a hallmark of hypertension and chronic kidney diseases (CKD) is the key pathophysiological factor contributing to the progression of tubulointerstitial fibrosis. LIM and senescent cell antigen‐like domains protein 1 (LIMS1) plays an essential role in controlling of cell behaviour through the formation of complexes with other proteins. Here, the function and regulation of LIMS1 in angiotensin II (Ang II)‐induced hypertension and tubulointerstitial fibrosis was investigated. Experimental Approach: C57BL/6 mice were treated with Ang II to induce tubulointerstitial fibrosis. Hypoxia‐inducible factor‐1α (HIF‐1α) renal tubular‐specific knockout mice or LIMS1 knockdown AAV was used to investigate their effects on Ang II‐induced renal interstitial fibrosis. In vitro, HIF‐1α or LIMS1 was knocked down or overexpressed in HK2 cells after exposure to Ang II. Key Results: Increased expression of tubular LIMS1 was observed in human kidney with hypertensive nephropathy and in murine kidney from Ang II‐induced hypertension model. Tubular‐specific knockdown of LIMS1 ameliorated Ang II‐induced tubulointerstitial fibrosis in mice. Furthermore, we demonstrated that LIMS1 was transcriptionally regulated by HIF‐1α in tubular cells and that tubular HIF‐1α knockout ameliorates LIMS1‐mediated tubulointerstitial fibrosis. In addition, LIMS1 promotes Ang II‐induced tubulointerstitial fibrosis by interacting with vimentin. Conclusion and Implications: We conclude that HIF‐1α transcriptionally regulated LIMS1 plays a central role in Ang II‐induced tubulointerstitial fibrosis through interacting with vimentin. The Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB) was formed by the aggregation and collage of numerous Paleozoic subduction‐accretion assemblages and Precambrian microcontinental blocks. However, the tectonic nature of the southeastern CAOB remains controversial, which complicates the reconstruction of the Paleo‐Asian Ocean. To address this issue, a deep seismic reflection survey was initiated across the southeastern CAOB and reveals broad gentle sub‐horizontal reflectors in the middle‐lower crust and a relatively transparent zone in the upper crust. Combining with the Precambrian geological outcrops and other geophysical features, we support a microcontinental block, the Xilinhot Block, existed in the Paleo‐Asian domain. Thus, the Paleo‐Asian Ocean was separated into two branches that underwent north‐dipping and double‐dipping oceanic plate subduction, respectively, to form the Hegenshan‐Heihe and Solonker sutures. Multiple relics beneath Hegenshan‐Heihe Suture indicate that multiple sets of unidirectional oceanic subduction‐accretion and magmatism were important mechanisms of continental growth. Plain Language Summary: During the consumption of the Paleo‐Asian Ocean, a great number of Paleozoic subduction‐related accretionary complexes were developed and combined with pre‐existing Precambrian continental fragments to form the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). A deep seismic reflection survey along the southeastern CAOB shows the crustal architecture in detail. The Paleo‐Asian Ocean was further separated into two parts, the fossil subduction zones of which show northward and bidirectional dipping characteristics beneath the Hegenshan‐Heihe and Solonker sutures, respectively. Several relics of the unidirectional subduction beneath the Hegenshan‐Heihe Suture indicate that multiple sets of unidirectional oceanic subduction‐accretion and magmatism were important mechanisms of continental growth. Coordination polymer (CP) materials have an important application as sensors. In this work, two new Ni(II)/Zn(II)-CPs of sebacic acid (H2seb) and 1,6-bis(benzimidazole)hexane (bbimh), {[Ni3(seb)3(bbimh)4]·7H2O}n (1) and {[Zn(seb)(bbimh)]·H2O}n (2), were constructed as luminescent sensors. Ni(II)-CP 1 features a three-dimensional (3D) (4,5)-connected framework including 1D channels occupied by water molecules. Zn(II)-CP 2 shows a 3D supramolecular network with 6-connected pcu topology. Both CPs have good stability in aqueous solution as well as in EtOH. Luminescence sensing studies reveal that 1 and 2 display high luminescence quenching efficiency toward IO4−, 2,6-dichloro-4-nitrophenol (2,6-DCNP) and folic acid (FA). Both CPs also display excellent sensitivity with limits of detection toward IO4−, 2,6-DCNP and FA as low as 1.23 μM, 13.26 nM and 13.04 μM for 1 and 1.26 μM, 30.61 nM and 15.70 μM for 2, respectively. Additionally, the two CPs were also demonstrated to be ultrasensitive and selective sensors for the detection of IO4− in swimming pool water, 2,6-DCNP in farmland sewage and FA in human serum. The experimental results suggest that the synthesized Ni(II)/Zn(II)-CPs have potential application as luminescence sensing materials in environmental pollution and human health. A highly atom-economic AB2-type hyperbranched polyamide (HPA) derived from arylamine monomers was judiciously designed and prepared. This electroactive HPA was further end-capped with two different end-cappers to prepare HPA-B and HPA-TPA with intrinsic microporous structures, which exhibited improved counter-ion diffusivity in electrochemical processes. With the aid of the intrinsic microporous structure, HPA-TPA revealed outstanding characteristics such as three-stage color changes, the highest coloration efficiency (CE), and the shortest switching response times among the prepared redox-active polyamides. Electrochromic devices employing ECD-HPA-TPA in this study demonstrated remarkable performance, evidenced by their rapid coloration rate of 27.4% s−1 and impressive switching stability. While evaluating and comparing the capacitive behavior of the HPA-TPA film, it showed 73.2 F g−1 at 1.0 A g−1 with nearly 60% transmittance contrast with only 220 nm thickness, and stability with 90.2% retention in a 300-cycle charge–discharge process. Furthermore, we compared its stability with polyamides derived from triphenylamine-based diamines to elucidate the effect on the reversibility during the charge–discharge process. Two new europium coordination compounds, [Eu2(papip)2(PhCOO)6] and [Eu2(phpip)2(PhCOO)6] (papip is 1-phenyl-2-(4-aminophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline and phpip 1-phenyl-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline), have been synthesized hydrothermally and structurally characterized, involving the in situ hydrolysis of phenylacetonitrile to phenylacetate. The –NH2 group in the former complex was unexpectedly generated from the –NO2 group of free 1-phenyl-2-(4-nitrophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline during the reaction process, representing the first such transformation in a hydrothermal reaction. Both complexes exhibit bright red photoemission typical of Eu(III) f–f transition under UV excitation, with long excited state lifetimes and quite high photoluminescence quantum yields. The impacts of falling ice radiative effects (FIREs) on land‐atmosphere feedback processes were examined, with a focus on the fidelity of land surface properties and their variability as inferred by global climate models (GCMs). We conducted a pair of sensitivity experiments using the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Community Earth System Model Version 1 (CESM1) in fully coupled modes with FIREs turned on and off. This allowed us to investigate the seasonal response of land surface properties to changes in radiation fluxes and land surface temperature (LST) associated with FIREs across global land areas. Our findings indicate that during boreal winter, excluding FIREs results in less surface downward longwave and net flux (∼5–15 Wm−2), leading to a colder land surface (∼2–4 K) and air temperatures (∼1–4 K) at mid‐ and high latitudes. Consequently, the surface frozen soil layer and snow cover persist through spring, delaying snowmelt and thawing until summer. This delay reduces liquid soil moisture, thereby suppressing vegetation productivity in subsequent seasons. Conversely, tropical regions, exhibit contrasting responses, with a warmer land surface (∼0.5 K) and warmer air temperatures (∼0.1–0.5 K) due to increased surface downward shortwave and net flux (∼2–10 Wm−2). This enhancement in radiation fosters increased vegetation productivity throughout the seasonal cycle. These findings illustrate a local response of land surface properties to changes in the surface energy balance and LST, highlighting the significant role that FIREs play in land surface modeling within GCMs. Plain Language Summary: We explored the seasonal response of land surface properties to changes in radiation fluxes and land surface temperature across global land areas using the CESM1‐CAM5 coupled model with falling ice radiative effects (FIREs) both turned on and off. Quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) simulations offer an efficient way to model reactions occurring in complex environments. This study introduces a specialized set of charge and Lennard-Jones parameters tailored for electrostatically embedded QM/MM calculations, aiming to accurately model both adsorption processes and catalytic reactions in zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks (Zr-MOFs). To validate our approach, we compare adsorption energies derived from QM/MM simulations against experimental results and Monte Carlo simulation outcomes. The developed parameters showcase the ability of QM/MM simulations to represent long-range electrostatic and van der Waals interactions faithfully. This capability is evidenced by the prediction of adsorption energies with a low root mean square error of 1.1 kcal mol-1 across a wide range of adsorbates. The practical applicability of our QM/MM model is further illustrated through the study of glucose isomerization and epimerization reactions catalyzed by two structurally distinct Zr-MOF catalysts, UiO-66 and MOF-808. Our QM/MM calculations closely align with experimental activation energies. Importantly, the parameter set introduced here is compatible with the widely used universal force field (UFF). Moreover, we thoroughly explore how the size of the cluster model and the choice of density functional theory (DFT) methodologies influence the simulation outcomes. Background: Previous findings have revealed that disorders of lipid metabolism may be a risk factor for pulmonary function damage; however, the combined effect of dyslipidemia and central obesity on pulmonary function is unclear. The cardiometabolic index (CMI) is a composite of serum lipids (triglyceride (TG)/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)) and visceral fat parameters (waist-to-height ratio (WHtR)). This research aimed to investigate the link between CMI and pulmonary function, employing large-scale demographic data sourced from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database. Methods: This cross-sectional study used data involving 4125 adults aged 20 and above collected by NHANES between 2007 and 2012. We defined CMI as the exposure variable and measured outcomes using forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), and FEV1/FVC to evaluate pulmonary function. Weighted multiple linear regression models and subgroup analyses were employed to investigate separate relationships between CMI and pulmonary function. In addition, to investigate variations across different strata and evaluate the robustness of the findings, interaction tests and sensitivity analyses were conducted. Results: Results from the weighted multiple linear regression analysis indicated a unit increase in log2-CMI was associated with a reduction of 82.63 mL in FEV1 and 112.92 mL in FVC. The negative association remained significant after transforming log2-CMI by quartile (Q). When the log2-CMI level reached Q4, β coefficients (β) were -128.49 (95% CI: -205.85, -51.13), -169.01 (95% CI: -266.72, -71.30), respectively. According to the interaction test findings, the negative association linking log2-CMI with FEV1 and FVC persists regardless of confounding factors including age, gender, BMI, physical activity (PA), and smoking status. A subsequent sensitivity analysis provided additional confirmation of the stability and reliability of the results. For females, the inflection points for the nonlinear relationships between log2-CMI and FEV1, as well as log2-CMI and FVC, were identified at 2.33 and 2.11, respectively. While in males, a consistent negative association was observed. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that higher CMI is associated with lower FEV1 and FVC. Human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) is the most prevalent pathogen contributing to acute respiratory tract infections (ARTI) in infants and young children and can lead to significant financial and medical costs. Here, we developed a simultaneous, dual-gene and ultrasensitive detection system for typing HRSV within 60minutes that needs only minimum laboratory support. Briefly, multiplex integrating reverse transcriptionrecombinase polymerase amplification (RT-RPA) was performed with viral RNA extracted from nasopharyngeal swabs as a template for the amplification of the specific regions of subtypes A (HRSVA) and B (HRSVB) of HRSV. Next, the Pyrococcus furiosus Argonaute (PfAgo) protein utilizes small 5'-phosphorylated DNA guides to cleave target sequences and produce fluorophore signals (FAM and ROX). Compared with the traditional gold standard (RT-qPCR) and direct immunofluorescence assay (DFA), this method has the additional advantages of easy operation, efficiency and sensitivity, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 1 copy/mL. In terms of clinical sample validation, the diagnostic accuracy of the method for determining the HRSVA and HRSVB infectionwas greater than 95%. This technique provides a reliable point-of-care (POC) testing for the diagnosis of HRSV-induced ARTI in children and for outbreak management, especially in resource-limited settings. Background: Due to the high prevalence of multimorbidity and realistic health service demands for fall prevention, there is growing interest in the association between multimorbidity and falls. Our study aimed to identify multimorbidity patterns among Chinese older adults and explore the association between multimorbidity patterns and falls. Methods: Data from 4,579 Chinese community-dwelling older adults was included in this analysis. Information regarding falls and 10 chronic conditions was collected. An exploratory factor analysis was performed to determine multimorbidity patterns. Regression models were fitted to explore the associations of individual chronic disease or multimorbidity patterns with falls. Results: Among 4,579 participants, 368 (8.0%) were defined as fallers, including 92 (2.0%) frequent fallers, and multimorbidity affected 2,503 (54.7%) participants. Older adults with multimorbidity were more likely to be fallers [odds ratio (OR) = 1.3, P = 0.02] and frequent fallers (OR = 1.7, P = 0.04). Three multimorbidity patterns were identified (i.e., cardiovascular-metabolic diseases, psycho-cognitive diseases and organic diseases), and the associations between psycho-cognitive diseases/organic diseases and prevalent falls or frequent falls were found to be significant. Conclusions: The psycho-cognitive disease pattern and organic disease pattern are significantly associated with falls. Therefore, more attention should be paid to patients with psycho-cognitive diseases and timely, targeted diagnostic and treatment services should be provided in fall prevention. Background The prognostic value of traditional clinical indicators for locally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma is limited because of their inability to reflect intratumor heterogeneity. We aimed to develop a radiomic signature to reveal tumor immune heterogeneity and predict survival in locally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods This multicenter, retrospective study included 921 patients with locally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma. A machine learning signature and nomogram based on pretreatment magnetic resonance imaging features were developed for predicting overall survival in a training cohort and validated in 2 independent cohorts. A clinical nomogram and an integrated nomogram were constructed for comparison. Nomogram performance was evaluated by concordance index and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Accordingly, patients were classified into risk groups. The biological characteristics and immune infiltration of the signature were explored by RNA-sequencing analysis. Results The machine learning signature and nomogram demonstrated comparable prognostic ability to a clinical nomogram, achieving concordance indexes of 0.729, 0.718, and 0.731 in the training, internal, and external validation cohorts, respectively. Integration of the signature and clinical variables statistically improved the predictive performance. The proposed signature effectively distinguished patients between risk groups with statistically distinct overall survival rates. Subgroup analysis indicated the recommendation of local salvage treatments for low-risk patients. Exploratory RNA-sequencing analysis revealed differences in interferon response and lymphocyte infiltration between risk groups. Conclusions A magnetic resonance imaging–based radiomic signature predicted overall survival more accurately. The proposed signature associated with tumor immune heterogeneity may serve as a valuable tool to facilitate prognostic stratification and guide individualized management for locally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. As turbine operating conditions change, the blade height and tip clearance undergo continuous alterations due to the combined effects of thermal stress, aerodynamic forces and centrifugal forces, subsequently influencing the turbine performance. To take this effect into account in turbine performance prediction, this study considers the influence of fluid-heat-structure coupling on blade height and tip clearance and establishes a one-dimensional comprehensive prediction method for multi-stage axial turbine performance considering blade height. When compared with experimental results from a four-stage axial turbine, by considering the fluid-thermal-solid coupling effects, the average relative error in total pressure ratio prediction is reduced from 3.76 % to 1.99 % and the average relative error in total temperature ratio prediction is reduced from 2.03 % to 1.26 %. Compared with the traditional flow prediction method, the prediction results of turbine characteristics considering blade height and tip clearance changes in this paper are closer to the experimental results. Introduction: Sulfur‐fumigation of Paeoniae Radix Alba (PRA) could induce the chemical transformation of its bioactive component paeoniflorin into a sulfur‐containing derivative paeoniflorin sulfite, and thus alter the quality, bioactivities, pharmacokinetics, and toxicities of PRA. However, how sulfur‐fumigated PRA (S‐PRA) affects the quality of PRA‐containing complex preparations has not been intensively evaluated. Objectives: We intend to evaluate the influence of S‐PRA on the overall quality of three kinds of Si‐Wu‐Tang (SWT) formulations, i.e., decoction (SWT‐D), granule (SWT‐G), and mixture (SWT‐M). Material and Methods: An UPLC‐DAD multi‐components quantification method was used to compare the transfer rates of paeoniflorin sulfite and other 10 bioactive components between S‐PRA‐containing and NS‐PRA‐containing SWT formulations. An UPLC‐QTOF‐MS/MS‐based target metabolomics approach was applied to explore the differential sulfur‐containing derivatives in S‐PRA‐containing SWT formulations. Results: The transfer rates of paeoniflorin sulfite in three S‐PRA‐containing SWT formulations were all higher than 100%. Moreover, S‐PRA also increased the transfer rate of 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural, 1,2,3,4,6‐O‐pentagalloylglucose, whereas decreased that of paeoniflorin, albiflorin, and ferulic acid in three SWT formulations. Six pinane monoterpene glucoside sulfites originally identified in S‐PRA, were also detectable in three S‐PRA‐containing SWT formulations. In addition, seven phenolic acid sulfites including (3Z)‐6‐sulfite‐ligustilide, (3E)‐6‐sulfite‐ligustilide, 6,8‐disulfite‐ligustilide, ferulic acid sulfite, neochlorogenic acid sulfite, chlorogenic acid sulfite, and angelicide sulfite (or isomer) were newly identified in these three S‐PRA‐containing formulations. Conclusion: S‐PRA could differentially affect the transfer rate of paeoniflorin sulfite and other bioactive components during the preparation of three SWT formulations and subsequently the overall quality thereof. A strategy integrating UPLC‐QTOF‐MS/MS and UPLC‐DAD was developed to evaluate the influence of sulfur‐fumigated Paeoniae Radix Alba (S‐PRA) on the overall quality of three Si‐Wu‐Tang (SWT) formulations. The results showed that S‐PRA could not only differentially affect the transfer rate of paeoniflorin sulfite and the other bioactive components, but also induce the chemical transformation of other bioactive compounds to their sulfur‐containing derivatives in three SWT formulations during the preparation process. Background: Approximately 30% of patients experience postoperative complications after surgery for early-stage lung cancer. However, the relationships among meridian energy during lung cancer surgery, changes in quality of life, and prognosis have not been investigated. Purpose: This study was designed to explore the associations among meridian energy, changes in quality of life, and prognosis in patients with newly diagnosed lung cancer undergoing surgery. Methods: A longitudinal, repeated-measures design was used. Basic data forms, meridian energy measurements, and a concise 12-item health status questionnaire were administered to the participants at the time of diagnosis, 2 weeks post-surgery, and 12 weeks post-surgery. During this period, changes were analyzed, and their association with postoperative risks was explored. Results: Forty-eight cases were investigated. Both meridian energy and quality of life were found to be significantly decreased 2 weeks after surgery. The high/low ratio of meridian energy, the physical component score of the Short Form 12-Item Health Survey Questionnaire, gender, cancer stage, and body mass index were identified as significantly associated with prognosis. Conclusion/Implications for Practice: The declining trends in meridian energy and quality of life during the 2 weeks after surgery in patients with lung cancer are associated with poor postoperative prognoses. Background Flow diversion (FD) embolization of intracranial cerebral aneurysms is an increasingly common modality where treatment success depends on adequate vessel wall apposition of the device. This study aimed to investigate off-label use of the Comaneci device for augmenting vessel wall apposition in postdeployed flow diversion stents (FDS). Methods Over a 20-month period, all FD cases for the treatment of internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysms were reviewed. Cases in which the Comaneci device was used to augment vessel wall apposition were analyzed. Data including patient demographics, case characteristics, and procedural outcomes were collected and analyzed as counts. Results From a total of 74 ICA FD cases, the Comaneci device was used to improve vessel wall apposition in 22 cases (29.7%). Of these cases, 91% were female with a mean patient age of 64.9±11.3 years, and an average aneurysm size of 4.5±2.5 mm. Comaneci device deployment and retrieval was successful in all (100%) cases, with an average fluoroscopy time of 27.3±7.8 min, an average contrast usage of 25.8±13.2 mL, and an average radiation exposure of 915.1±320.8 mGy. Only two cases (9%) required subsequent balloon angioplasty after Comaneci deployment to improve vessel wall apposition throughout the FDS. Conclusion Our experience with this technique demonstrates the feasibility of using the Comaneci device for augmentation of FDS vessel wall apposition with 100% success in the deployment and retrieval of the Comaneci device. To investigate the role of co-stimulatory and co-inhibitory molecules on immune tolerance in immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), this study mapped the immune cell heterogeneity in the bone marrow of ITP at the single-cell level using Cytometry by Time of Flight (CyTOF). Thirty-six patients with ITP and nine healthy volunteers were enrolled in the study. As soluble immunomodulatory molecules, more sCD25 and sGalectin-9 were detected in ITP patients. On the cell surface, co-stimulatory molecules like ICOS and HVEM were observed to be upregulated in mainly central memory and effector T cells. In contrast, co-inhibitory molecules such as CTLA-4 were significantly reduced in Th1 and Th17 cell subsets. Taking a platelet count of 30×109 L−1 as the cutoff value, ITP patients with high and low platelet counts showed different T cell immune profiles. Antigen-presenting cells such as monocytes and B cells may regulate the activation of T cells through CTLA-4/CD86 and HVEM/BTLA interactions, respectively, and participate in the pathogenesis of ITP. In conclusion, the proteomic and soluble molecular profiles brought insight into the interaction and modulation of immune cells in the bone marrow of ITP. As an important class of nitrogen-containing fused heterocyclic compounds, imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines often exhibit significant biological activities, such as analgesic, anticancer, antiosteoporosis, anxiolytic, etc. Using Y(OTf)3 as a Lewis acid catalyst, a simple and efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of C3-alkylated imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines through the three-component aza-Friedel–Crafts reaction of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines, aldehydes, and amines in the normal air atmosphere without the protection of inert gas and special requirements for anhydrous and anaerobic conditions. A series of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine derivatives were obtained with moderate to good yields, and their structures were confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and HRMS. Furthermore, this conversion has the advantages of simple operation, excellent functional group tolerance, high atomic economy, broad substrate scope, and can achieve gram-level reactions. Notably, this methodology may be conveniently applied to the further design and rapid synthesis of potential biologically active imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines with multifunctional groups. Methane-oxidizing bacteria (MOB) is a group of planktonic microorganisms that use methane as their primary source of cellular energy. For tropical lakes in monsoon Asia, there is currently a knowledge gap on MOB community diversity and the factors influencing their abundance. Herewith, we present a preliminary assessment of the MOB communities in three maar lakes in tropical monsoon Asia using Catalyzed Reporter Deposition, Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (CARD-FISH), 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing, and pmoA gene sequencing. Correlation analysis between MOB abundances and lakes' physicochemical parameters following seasonal monsoon events were performed to explain observed spatial and temporal patterns in MOB diversity. The CARD-FISH analyses detected the three MOB types (I, II, and NC10) which aligned with the results from 16S rRNA amplicons and pmoA gene sequencing. Among community members based on 16S rRNA genes, Proteobacterial Type I MOB (e.g., Methylococcaceae and Methylomonadaceae), Proteobacterial Type II (Methylocystaceae), Verrucomicrobial (Methylacidiphilaceae), Methylomirabilota/NC10 (Methylomirabilaceae), and archaeal ANME-1a were found to be the dominant methane-oxidizers in three maar lakes. Analysis of microbial diversity and distribution revealed that the community compositions in Lake Yambo vary with the seasons and are more distinct during the stratified period. Temperature, DO, and pH were significantly and inversely linked with type I MOB and Methylomirabilota during stratification. Only MOB type I was influenced by monsoon changes. This research sought to establish a baseline for the diversity and ecology of planktonic MOB in tropical monsoon Asia to better comprehend their contribution to the CH4 cycle in tropical freshwater ecosystems. The spirohydantoin-containing cucurbitane-type triterpenoid, kaguacidine A (1), was isolated and purified from 95% ethanol extract of vines of Momordica charantia L. (Cucurbitaceae). Its unprecedented chemical structure, a spirohydantoin substituent at C-23 of cucurbitane, was elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses, including HRESIMS, IR, optical rotation, 1 D- and 2 D-NMR spectra. The possible biosynthetic pathway is deduced and may be attributed to the metabolic activity of microbial symbionts in M. charantia L. Compound 1 was evaluated for anti-inflammatory activity against LPS-induced NO production in RAW 264.7 cells and anti-proliferative activity against four cancer cell lines, including HEp-2, MCF-7, Hep-G2, and WiDr. Compound 1 showed moderate anti-inflammatory activity with an IC50 value of 18.5 ± 0.4 μg/mL and weak anti-proliferative activity against MCF-7, HEp-2, Hep-G2, and WiDr with IC50 values of >40, 33.8 ± 0.6, 31.0 ± 0.7, and 27.0 ± 0.7 μM, respectively. Background: Human flourishing is an emerging concept, extending beyond the conventional boundaries of subjective well-being and evolving into a comprehensive capture of the diverse dimensions of human life within complex societal structures. Therefore, moving away from traditional approaches centered on the single latent construct, this study aims to explore the multiple aspects of human flourishing and the intricate interplay of their contributing factors. Methods: Data were collected from the Health and Living Environments Survey of Taiwanese Retirees during 2023 (valid sample n = 1,111). Human flourishing was measured using the Secure Flourish Index developed by Harvard University, which includes 12 indicators: (1) life satisfaction, (2) happiness, (3) mental health, (4) physical health, (5) meaning in life, (6) sense of purpose, (7) promoting good, (8) delaying gratification, (9) content relationships, (10) satisfying relationships, (11) financial stability, and (12) material stability. A mixed graphical network analysis was employed to analyze the related determinants, divided into four groups: (a) sociodemographic factors, (b) physical functions and health status, (c) social and family engagement, and (d) community environmental characteristics as nodes. Results: We analyzed 31 variables and identified 133 nonzero edges out of 465 potential connections in the comprehensive network. Results showed that happiness and promoting good were the two most critical indicators influencing retirees' overall flourishing. Different flourishing indicators were also associated with various influential factors. For instance, personal characteristics, especially gender and education, emerged as central factors. Family caregiving negatively affected happiness and financial stability, whereas social engagement was positively associated with life satisfaction and meaning in life. Employment status had mixed effects, negatively associated with life satisfaction but positively associated with mental health. Community environments, such as a sense of community and neighborhood safety, generally enhanced flourishing. However, the accessibility of neighborhood resources was paradoxically associated with material stability, pointing to the complexity of environmental factors in human flourishing. Conclusion: This study provides a comprehensive network analysis that reveals intricate connections between personal, behavioral, and environmental factors, offering profound insights for targeted interventions to foster human flourishing. Adaptive information seeking is essential for humans to effectively navigate complex and dynamic environments. Here, we developed a gaze-contingent eye-tracking paradigm to examine the early emergence of adaptive information-seeking. Toddlers (N = 60, 18-36 months) and adults (N = 42) either learnt that an animal was equally likely to be found in any of four available locations, or that it was most likely to be found in one particular location. Afterwards, they were given control of a torchlight, which they could move with their eyes to explore the otherwise pitch-black task environment. Eye-movement data and Markov models show that, from 24 months of age, toddlers become more exploratory than adults, and start adapting their exploratory strategies to the information structure of the task. These results show that toddlers' search strategies are more sophisticated than previously thought, and identify the unique features that distinguish their information search from adults'. Humans adaptively seek information to navigate their world. Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is highly prevalent worldwide, and its global burden is substantial and growing. CKD displays a number of features of accelerated senescence. Tubular cell senescence is a common biological process that contributes to CKD progression. Tubulointerstitial inflammation is a driver of tubular cell senescence and a common characteristic of CKD. However, the mechanism by which the interstitial inflammation drives tubular cell senescence remains unclear. This paper aims to explore the role of exosomal miRNAs derived from macrophages in the development of tubular cell senescence. Methods: Among the identified inflammation-related miRNAs, miR-155 is considered to be one of the most important miRNAs involved in the inflammatory response. Macrophages, the primary immune cells that mediate inflammatory processes, contain a high abundance of miR-155 in their released exosomes. We assessed the potential role of miR-155 in tubular cell senescence and renal fibrosis. We subjected miR-155−/− mice and wild-type controls, as well as tubular epithelial cells (TECs), to angiotensin II (AngII)-induced kidney injury. We assessed kidney function and injury using standard techniques. TECs were evaluated for cell senescence and telomere dysfunction in vivo and in vitro. Telomeres were measured by the fluorescence in situ hybridization. Results: Compared with normal controls, miR-155 was up-regulated in proximal renal tubule cells in CKD patients and mouse models of CKD. Moreover, the expression of miR-155 was positively correlated with the extent of renal fibrosis, eGFR decline and p16INK4A expression. The overexpression of miR-155 exacerbated tubular senescence, evidenced by increased detection of p16INK4A/p21expression and senescence-associated β-galactosidase activity. Notably, miR-155 knockout attenuates renal fibrosis and tubule cell senescence in vivo. Interestingly, once released, macrophages-derived exosomal miR-155 was internalized by TECs, leading to telomere shortening and dysfunction through targeting TRF1. A dual-luciferase reporter assay confirmed that TRF1 was the direct target of miR-155. Thus, our study clearly demonstrates that exosomal miR-155 may mediate communication between macrophages and TECs, subsequently inducing telomere dysfunction and senescence in TECs. Conclusions: Our work suggests a new mechanism by which macrophage exosomes are involved in the development of tubule senescence and renal fibrosis, in part by delivering miR-155 to target TRF1 to promote telomere dysfunction. Objective: To establish an animal model of oral squamous cell carcinoma invading the mandible through multi-sample experiments that verified the stability, repeatability, tumorigenicity and mandible destruction rate of the model. Methods: Oral squamous cell carcinoma cell suspension was injected into the outer side of the mandible through the anterior edge of the masseter muscle of naked mice to observe the tumour- forming process. Then, the anatomical, histological and imaging examinations were carried out to determine whether the tumour had invaded the mandible. By comparing the tumour growth of multiple groups of various squamous cell carcinoma cells (CAL27, HN6 and HN30 cells), the changes in body weight and characteristics of tumour formation were compared, and the experience was summarised to further verify the stability, repeatability, tumour formation rate and arch damage rate of the model. Results: The subsequent specimens of tumour-bearing nude mice were validated once the model had been established. In vitro, tumour tissue wrapped around the mandible's tumour-bearing side, and the local texture was tough with no resistance to acupuncture. Haematoxylin and eosin staining revealed that squamous cells were infiltrating the mandible in both the horizontal and sagittal planes. Microcomputed tomography results showed that the mandible on the tumour-bearing side displayed obvious erosion damage. Cell lines with various passage rates clearly had diverse tumour-bearing life cycles. Conclusion: This study successfully established an animal model of oral squamous cell carcinoma invasion of the mandible. Gut microbes is a crucial factor in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes (T1D). However, it is still unclear which gut microbiota are the key factors affecting T1D and their influence on the development and progression of the disease. To fill these knowledge gaps, we constructed a model to find biomarker from gut microbiota in patients with T1D. We first identified microbial markers using Linear discriminant analysis Effect Size (LEfSe) and random forest (RF) methods. Furthermore, by constructing co-occurrence networks for gut microbes in T1D, we aimed to reveal all gut microbial interactions as well as major beneficial and pathogenic bacteria in healthy populations and type 1 diabetic patients. Finally, PICRUST2 was used to predict Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) functional pathways and KO gene levels of microbial markers to investigate the biological role. Our study revealed that 21 identified microbial genera are important biomarker for T1D. Their AUC values are 0.962 and 0.745 on discovery set and validation set. Functional analysis showed that 10 microbial genera were significantly positively associated with D-arginine and D-ornithine metabolism, spliceosome in transcription, steroid hormone biosynthesis and glycosaminoglycan degradation. These genera were significantly negatively correlated with steroid biosynthesis, cyanoamino acid metabolism and drug metabolism. The other 11 genera displayed an inverse correlation. In summary, our research identified a comprehensive set of T1D gut biomarkers with universal applicability and have revealed the biological consequences of alterations in gut microbiota and their interplay. We discuss heavy particles that can be used to pin down the faithful Standard Model (SM) gauge group and their patterns in the SM effective field theory (SMEFT). These heavy particles are not invariant under a specific ℤ6 subgroup of SU(3)c × SU(2)L × U(1)Y, which however acts trivially on all the SM particles, hence the faithful SM gauge group remains undetermined. Different realizations of the faithful SM gauge group correspond to different spectra of heavy particles, and they also correspond to distinct sets of line operators with one-form global symmetry acting on them. We show that the heavy particles not invariant under the ℤ6 group cannot appear in tree-level ultraviolet completions of SMEFT, this enforces us to consider one-loop UV completions of SMEFT to identify the ℤ6 non-invariant heavy particles. We demonstrate with examples that correlations between Wilson coefficients provide an efficient way to examine models with ℤ6 non-invariant heavy particles. Finally, we prove that all the scalars that can trigger electroweak symmetry breaking must be invariant under the ℤ6 group, hence they cannot be used to probe the faithful SM gauge group. Testosterone (T), an environmental androgen, significantly disrupts endocrine systems in wildlife and ecosystems. Despite growing concern over its high levels in aquatic environments, the reproductive toxicity of testosterone and its mechanisms are not well understood. In this study, we investigated the reproductive toxicity and mechanisms of testosterone using Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) and assessed its ecological toxicity through the benchmark dose (BMD) method. Our results indicate that T concentrations exceeding 0.01 μg/L significantly reduce the brood size, decrease germ cell counts, and prolong the generation time in C. elegans as T concentrations increase. Furthermore, to elucidate the specific mechanisms, we analyzed the expression of nhr-69, mpk-1, and other genes involved in sex determination. These findings suggest that the nhr-69-mediated reproductive toxicity of T primarily affects sperm formation and the offspring number by influencing its downstream targets, mpk-1 and fog-1/3, which are critical in the germ cell sex-determining pathway. Additionally, this study determined that the 10% lower boundary of the baseline dose (BMDL10) is 1.160 ng/L, offering a more protective reference dose for the ecological risk assessment of T. The present study suggests that nhr-69 mediates the reproductive toxicity of T by influencing mpk-1 and fog-1/3, critical genes at the end of the germ cell sex-determining pathway, thereby providing a basis for establishing reproductive toxicity thresholds for T. Background and Aim: Endoscopic resection has been successfully used for the removal of digestive submucosal tumors (SMTs). However, the cardia has been considered a challenging location for endoscopic resection due to its narrow lumen and sharp angle. The objective of this study was to establish a clinical scoring model to grade the technical difficulty of endoscopic resection for cardial SMTs. Methods: A total of 246 patients who suffered cardial SMTs and received endoscopic resection were included in this retrospective study. All of them were randomized into the training cohort (n = 123) or internal validation cohort (n = 123). Potential predictors were analyzed using univariate analysis. Then, covariates with P < 0.05 were selected for the multivariate logistic regression model. The β coefficients from the logistic regression model were used to create a scoring system for technical difficulty prediction by rounding the score to the nearest integer of the absolute β coefficient value. Results: The clinical score consisted of the following factors: male gender (2 points), extraluminal growth (3 points), and maximum diameter ≥3 cm (3 points). The scoring model demonstrated good discriminatory power, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.860 and a 95% confidence interval of 0.763–0.958. The model also showed a good goodness of fit in the Hosmer–Lemeshow test (P = 0.979). In the training cohort, the probability of encountering technical difficulty in the easy (score = 0), intermediate (score = 1–3), difficult (score = 4–6), and very difficult (score >6) categories was 0, 6.8%, 33.3%, and 100.0%, respectively; similarly, in the validation cohort, it was 0, 5.6%, 22.2%, and 50.0%, respectively. Endovascular neurointervention is typically performed with iodinated contrast medium (ICM) under fluoroscopy. However, some patients may be contraindicated to such procedures based on their sensitivity to ICM. In this report, we describe a case of successful coil embolization of a direct carotid cavernous fistula using angiography with gadolinium-based contrast agents in a patient with severe allergic reaction to ICM. Glutathione (GSH) is an important antioxidant that is generated and degraded via the GSH cycle. Quantification of the main components in the GSH cycle is necessary to evaluate the process of GSH. In this study, a robust ultra‐performance liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry method for the simultaneous quantification of 10 components (GSH; γ‐glutamylcysteine; cysteinyl‐glycine; n‐acetylcysteine; homocysteine; cysteine; cystine; methionine; glutamate; pyroglutamic acid) in GSH cycle was developed. The approach was optimized in terms of derivative, chromatographic, and spectrometric conditions as well as sample preparation. The unstable thiol groups of GSH, γ‐glutamylcysteine, cysteinyl‐glycine, n‐acetylcysteine, cysteine, and homocysteine were derivatized by n‐ethylmaleimide. The derivatized and underivatized analytes were separated on an amino column with gradient elution. The method was further validated in terms of selectivity (no interference), linearity (R2 > 0.99), precision (% relative standard deviation [RSD%] range from 0.57 to 10.33), accuracy (% relative error [RE%] range from ‐3.42 to 10.92), stability (RSD% < 5.68, RE% range from ‐2.54 to 4.40), recovery (RSD% range from 1.87 to 7.87) and matrix effect (RSD% < 5.42). The validated method was applied to compare the components in the GSH cycle between normal and oxidative stress cells, which would be helpful in clarifying the effect of oxidative stress on the GSH cycle. With 75 known species, the freshwater fish genus Sinocyclocheilus is the largest cavefish radiation in the world and shows multiple adaptations for cave‐dwelling (stygomorphic adaptations), which include a range of traits such as eye degeneration (normal‐eyed, micro‐eyed and eyeless), depigmentation of skin, and in some species, the presence of "horns". Their behavioural adaptations to subterranean environments, however, are poorly understood. Wall‐following (WF) behaviour, where an organism remains in close contact with the boundary demarcating its habitat when in the dark, is a peculiar behaviour observed in a wide range of animals and is enhanced in cave dwellers. Hence, we hypothesise that wall‐following is also present in Sinocyclocheilus, possibly enhanced in eyeless species compared to eye bearing (normal‐/micro‐eyed species). Using 13 species representative of Sinocyclocheilus radiation and eye morphs, we designed a series of assays, based on pre‐existing methods for Astyanax mexicanus behavioural experiments, to examine wall‐following behaviour under three conditions. Our results indicate that eyeless species exhibit significantly enhanced intensities of WF compared to normal‐eyed species, with micro‐eyed forms demonstrating intermediate intensities in the WF distance. Using a mtDNA based dated phylogeny (chronogram with four clades A–D), we traced the degree of WF of these forms to outline common patterns. We show that the intensity of WF behaviour is higher in the subterranean clades compared to clades dominated by normal‐eyed free‐living species. We also found that eyeless species are highly sensitive to vibrations, whereas normal‐eyed species are the least sensitive. Since WF behaviour is presented to some degree in all Sinocyclocheilus species, and given that these fishes evolved in the late Miocene, we identify this behaviour as being ancestral with WF enhancement related to cave occupation. Results from this diversification‐scale study of cavefish behaviour suggest that enhanced wall‐following behaviour may be a convergent trait across all stygomorphic lineages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

H62 brass material is one of the important materials in the process of electrical energy transmission and signal transmission, and has excellent performance in all aspects. Since the wear behavior of electrical contact pairs is particularly complex when they are in service, we evaluated the effects of load, sliding velocity, displacement amplitude, current intensity, and surface roughness on the changes in contact resistance. Machine learning (ML) algorithms were used to predict the electrical contact performance of different factors after wear to determine the correlation between different factors and contact resistance. Random forest (RF), support vector regression (SVR) and BP neural network (BPNN) algorithms were used to establish RF, SVR and BPNN models, respectively, and the experimental data were trained and tested. It was proved that BP neural network model could better predict the stable mean resistance of H62 brass alloy after wear. Characteristic analysis shows that the load and current have great influence on the predicted electrical contact properties. The wear behavior of electrical contacts is influenced by factors such as load, sliding speed, displacement amplitude, current intensity, and surface roughness during operation. Machine learning algorithms can predict the electrical contact performance after wear caused by these factors. Experimental results indicate that an increase in load, current, and surface roughness leads to a decrease in stable mean resistance, while an increase in displacement amplitude and frequency results in an increase in stable mean resistance, leading to a decline in electrical contact performance. To reduce testing time and costs and quickly obtain the electrical contact performance of H62 brass alloy after wear caused by different factors, three algorithms (random forest (RF), support vector regression (SVR), and BP neural network (BPNN)) were used to train and test experimental results, resulting in a machine learning model suitable for predicting the stable mean resistance of H62 brass alloy after wear. The article discusses the 1st International Workshop on Liana Forest Ecology, which focused on the impact of lianas on carbon and water cycling in tropical forests. Lianas, woody vines that climb trees, are increasing in abundance due to forest disturbance and climate change. The workshop brought together scientists from 14 countries to discuss topics such as liana distribution, hydraulics, life histories, reproductive phenology, and the role of lianas in carbon and nutrient cycling. Introduction: Zishui‐Qinggan decoction (ZQD) is a classical traditional Chinese medicine formula (TCMF) for alleviating menopausal symptoms (MPS) induced by endocrine therapy in breast cancer patients. In the production of TCMF modern preparations, ethanol precipitation (EP) is a commonly but not fully verified refining process. Objectives: Chemical profiling/serum pharmacochemistry and network pharmacology approaches were integrated for exploring the rationality of the EP process in the production of ZQD modern preparations. Material and methods: Ultra‐performance liquid chromatography–quadrupole time‐of‐flight tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC‐QTOF‐MS/MS) was applied to identify the chemical profiles and absorbed components of ZQD. Network pharmacology was used to identify targets and pathways related to MPS‐relieving efficacy. Results: The chemicals of ZQDs without/with EP process (referred to as ZQD‐W and ZQD‐W‐P, respectively) were qualitatively similar with 89 and 87 components identified, respectively, but their relative contents were different; 51 components were detectable in the serum of rats orally administered with ZQD‐W, whereas only 19 were detected in that administered with ZQD‐W‐P. Key targets, such as AKT1, and pathways, such as the PI3K‐Akt signalling pathway, affected by ZQD‐W and ZQD‐W‐P were similar, while the neuroactive ligand–receptor interaction pathway among others and the MAPK signalling pathway among others were specific pathways affected by ZQD‐W and ZQD‐W‐P, respectively. The specifically absorbed components of ZQD‐W could combine its specific key targets. Conclusion: The EP process quantitatively altered the chemical profiles of ZQD, subsequently affected the absorbed components of ZQD, and then affected the key targets and pathways of ZQD for relieving MPS. The EP process might result in variation of the MPS‐relieving efficacy of ZQD, which deserves further in vivo verification.
