Abstract

An essay is presented on the relationship between the writing of the Romanticism authors Mary Shelley and Lord Byron. It discusses Shelley's novel "Valperga; or the Life and Adventures of Castruccio, Prince of Lucca" and examines the imagery of a broken mirror in the novel. The professional working relationship between Shelley and Byron is described and Byron's works "The Bride of Abydos," "The Corsair," and "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage" are explored.
