The following selection of articles was drawn from commonlyread nonforensic journals as well as some less referredto publications. In an attempt to include a range of recentlypublished topics, we reviewed articles that deal with childdeath, namely shaken baby syndrome (SBS) and sudden infantdeath syndrome (SIDS); a review of hypothermia/hyperthermia;and an analysis of serious road traffic admissions inEngland. Articles on clinical autopsies in Sweden and on thecomparison of resident's perception of the autopsy in a hospitalin the United States were also summarized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ba'alat has regularly included articles from a wide rangeof journals. In this issue, the authors review articles in topicsof clinical forensic medicine, forensic science, as wellas pathology. The list of journals which are checked forforensic-related articles is quite extensive, and in many occasionsa wide choice of articles is found making the selectionof the most suited articles for each issue sometimes difficult.The following selection represents some of the latestrelevant articles. Ba\'alat is the section of the journal where articles from nonforensicjournals of relevance for forensic practice are brieflyreviewed. It is intended as an educational section to assist withcontinuous professional development of forensic practitioners.Because of the sheer volume of medical and paramedicalliterature that currently exists in hard copy and electronic format,forensic practitioners may struggle to keep up to date withintheir own journal fields let alone those in the non-forensic arena.We hope to assist in this matter by taking some of the work offthe reader and drawing attention to interesting and topical articlesthat we have identified during our monitoring of the worldliterature. Sometimes this may be on a theme, other times it maycover a variety of subjects, depending on the current trends inresearch and publication.
