The research area is located in Madura Block, North East Java Basin, which consists of data from two wells, namely FLP-1 and FLP-2 wells. The analysis carried out has the aim of knowing the characteristics of the source rock, organic material, biomarkers, and the potential source rock of the existing formation. The FLP-1 well consists of Tuban Formation and Tawun Formation, while the FLP-2 well consists of Kujung Formation and Tuban Formation. Indications of source rock obtained from FLP-1 well research area (Tawun Formation) has the potential to generate hydrocarbons with the main type being gas (kerogen type III), the origin of the material is from higher plants, and fluvio-deltaic organic source facies. The Kujung Formation seen in the FLP-2 well has an indication of effective source rock, with the potential to generate oil and gas type hydrocarbons (kerogen type II/III), and material origin from algae and higher plants and marine-deltaic organic facies.
