Abstract

The article discusses the study conducted to examine the tectonophysical regularities of the epicentral and hypocentral earthquake fields in the rift systems of central Asia by using seismicity as the most important real time parameter of riftogenesis. Topics discussed include organization of epicentral earthquake fields in the Baikal seismic zone (BSZ) and Shanxi seismic zone (SSZ), zonality of epicentral fields expressed by decrease in the maximal magnitudes of earthquake, and lithosphere.
