Background: Percutaneous Trans hepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) is a successful palliative treatment for malignant obstructive jaundice. Despite the past that PTBD complications occur more frequently. Currently, with the help of an ultrasound guide, these side effects and possibility of adjacent organ damages have decreased interestingly. One of the rare complications of this procedure is acute pancreatitis. Case Presentation: We discuss an uncommon case of acute pancreatitis following PTBD in an elderly woman who presented to the hospital with jaundice and anorexia. Conservative therapy without decatheterization was the treatment of choice in our patient. Eventually after receiving conservative therapy for her pancreatitis, she was discharged from the hospital in good general condition and she has not experienced any episodes of abdominal pain again. Conclusion: Acute pancreatitis is one of the causes of sepsis during PTBD catheterization. Early management of this complication after PTBD can decrease morbidity and mortality of the patients. The Wnt signaling pathway is identified as one of the main disrupted pathways in Colorectal cancer (CRC). Results from studies focusing on this route will aid greatly in the detection and treatment of CRC. MicroRNAs (MiRs), particularly MiR-490, has emerged as key regulator of gene expression in biological pathways, making it an attractive research target. This is notably true for the Wnt signaling pathway, which is usually disordered in CRC tissues. This study aimed to evaluate the expression level of MiR-490 isomiRs and determine some of its key target genes involved in Wnt signaling pathway in CRC tissues and cell lines, based on experimental and bioinformatics analysis. Elevated expression of GSK3β and CCND1 indicate that the progression of CRC tumor is associated with the inhibitory effect of MiR-490 isomiRs on the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. This finding was supported by the observation of a positive connection between the expression pattern of miR-490-3p and 5p, and CCND1 and GSK3β in CRC. The valuable results of this study provide a means of identifying biomarkers with the potential to either inhibit or activate CRC cellular pathways. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Cancer development is aided by the role of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) that act as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) absorbing microRNAs (miRNAs). We aimed to discover a novel regulatory axis in colorectal cancer (CRC) and potential biomarkers based on miR-616-3p. Materials and Methods: The gene expression omnibus database was mined for differentially expressed lncRNAs (DELs) and mRNAs. LncRNAs and mRNAs were predicted using the RegRNA and TargetScan databases. A combination of the ciBioPortal and Ensemble databases was used to locate the mRNAs. Cytoscape 3.7.1-built CeRNA networks. A quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was utilized to confirm the expression levels of these RNA molecules. Statistical analyses were implemented by GraphPad Prism 9. Results: qRT-PCR showed (Linc01282, lnc-MYADM-1:1, and Zinc Finger Protein 347 [ZNF347]) were overexpressed whereas, (salt-inducible kinases 1 [SIK1], and miR-616-3p) were down regulated. Conclusion: These results identify unique, unreported lncRNAs as CRC prognostic biomarkers, as well as prospective mRNAs as new treatment targets and predictive biomarkers for CRC. Background & Objective: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a high prevalent disease throughout the world. The aim of this study was to investigate the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of the CRS patients. Materials & Methods: A total of 241 CRS patients aged 15-70 years were recruited. The prevalence of allergic diseases and its association with CRS, disease severity, and quality of life (QoL) were assessed using GA2LEN and SNOT-22 questionnaires, respectively. Patients' clinical diagnoses and allergic comorbidities were evaluated using paranasal sinus computed tomography (CT), nasal endoscopy, and paraclinical tests (smell identification test, fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO), skin prick test (SPT), pulmonary function test (PFT)). Results: The mean (±SD) age of all participants was 40.1 ± 11.1 years, with a gender distribution of 56% male and 44% female. Nasal polyps (NP) were diagnosed in 42.4% of patients. The total mean SNOT-22 scores and the mean scores of the nasal symptoms category were significantly higher in CRS patients with NP (CRSwNP) compared to CRS without NP (CRSsNP) (OR = 2.3, 95%CI = 9.6-0.55, P = 0.028). Furthermore, there was a significant association between CRSwNP and persistent allergic rhinitis comorbidity (P = 0.006). Finally, a significant association was found between CRSwNP and severe SPT reactivity to Dermatophagoides farina and date palm pollen (P = 0.04 and P < 0.001, respectively). Conclusion: This study suggests that higher SNOT-22 scores may impact QoL in CRSwNP patients. Additionally, a significant association was found between CRS and respiratory allergic diseases. Introduction : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease that primarily affects small joints. The impaired chemokine and cytokine responses are essential pathological mechanisms for the RA clinical presentation. Given the role of chemokines and inflammatory reactions in RA pathogenesis, we evaluate the association between the plasma concentration of CCL20 with the clinical and laboratory parameters in newly diagnosed RA patients. Material and methods: Forty-five newly diagnosed RA patients and forty-five healthy subjects were enrolled in this study. The plasma levels of CCL20, rheumatoid factor, and anti-citrullinated peptide antibodies were measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. Result: The plasma levels of CCL20 were increased significantly in RA patients compared to the healthy controls (p < 0.0001). There was a positive correlation between CCL20 and RF, anti-CCP, ESR, and DAS-28 (p < 0.0001, r = 0.669; p < 0.015, r = 0.358; p < 0.0001, r = 0.586; p < 0.0001, r = 0.769). Conclusion: The increased plasma levels of CCL20 in newly diagnosed RA patients may contribute to RA pathogenesis, and it is in association with clinical and laboratory parameters. Background: Patients with HIV infection may be at an increased risk for morbidity and mortality from the COVID-19. This study aimed to investigate the severity of COVID-19 disease in people living with HIV (PLHIV). Methods: We conducted a systematic review of all articles and reports conducted in the Scholar, PubMed, and Magiran databases regarding the effects of COVID-19 on PLHIV from the beginning of 2020 until today. Results: A total of 1893 articles were found. After deleting unrelated articles according to keywords, a total of 507 articles were selected, after deleting duplicate articles, 400 subjects were selected and finally, after reading the abstracts 59 studies were included in our analysis. Finally, 15 papers were selected depending on the type of review. Conclusion: The results of the present, prevalence, severity of COVID-19 in PLWH was similar general population and this finding suggests that HIV infection not a risk factor for COVID-19, and generally, PLWH should receive the same treatment approach applied to the general population. Business model design becomes an essential source of firm innovation in the current competitive world. Business model innovation refers to the creation or reinvention of existing business models by designing novel value-creation systems, proposing new value propositions, and building original value-capturing mechanisms. However, to adopt the innovative business model in any organization, the inertia to change is a substantial barrier, and its role has not been examined completely. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of organizational inertia on open innovation, business model innovation, and corporate performance. Using the survey as the research model, data were collected from 160 companies operating in the information technology industry in the city of Tehran. These firms were selected via judgment sampling method. The hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling technique via SmartPLS2 software. Based on the findings, organizational inertia has a negative relationship with business model innovation and open innovation; though, business model innovation and open innovation have a positive effect on the performance. These changes sometimes create harmful habits and affect our lifestyle, which unfortunately bring various diseases and disorders. ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) & SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) are common disorders in children. By giving children the right treatment at the younger ages, we can help them overcome their disabilities and not face any symptoms in their adulthood. The multi-sensory balance board is designed and developed to help medics diagnose the disorders in patients at early stages and monitor the treatment progress. The balance board uses multiple sensors to detect common human senses, visual, auditory, balance, and tactile sensing. Due to the safety issues for children during the COVID-19 pandemic, the balance board has been clinically tested for adults with stroke disorder. Background: The reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated in the biological systems play an important role in pathological conditions and specific normal cellular processes, such as signaling pathways and drug sensitivity. Methods: Intracellular ROS was determined using (2'-7'dichlorofluorescin diacetate) DCFH-DA fluorimetric probe, malondialdehyde as lipid peroxidation index detected by the Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances method. Cells' protein carbonyl contents were assessed with 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) derivatization spectrophotometrically at 360-385 nm. Results: The oxidative stress induces ROS (p=0.05), MDA (Malondialdehyde) (p=0.05), and protein carbonylation (p=0.01) was significantly higher in HER2- positive BT-474, SK-BR-3, and MDA-MB-453 compared to the HER2-negative MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cell lines. Conclusion: We hypothesized that increased oxidative stress in HER2-positive cell lines is due to the oncogenic function of the HER2 and PI3K/Akt signaling activation, resulting in glycolysis induction. It is assumed that HER2-positive cell lines with high ROS levels are more vulnerable to further damage by increased ROS levels induced by pro-oxidant anticancer agents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Crossbreeding of a local sheep called Ghezel thick wool with Arkharmerino fine wool is one of the interest studies in the last decade to improve the local sheep's products quality. In this study, the chemical and mechanical properties of Arkharmerino, Ghezel and their first and second-generation wool fibers were investigated. The diameter, length and tensile properties of wool fibers were studied. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray spectrum were also performed to evaluate the morphological and physical characteristics of all samples. The results showed that crossbreeding Ghezel ewes with Arkharmerino rams led to improving the wool fiber characteristics from chemical and physical properties points of view in the final application. The higher fineness, higher length, lighter color and higher tenacity were resulting from Arkharmerino–Ghezel in the second generation in comparison with Ghezel wool fibers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective(s): Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) can be isolated from adult tissues such as adipose tissue and other sources. Among these sources, adipose tissue (because of easy access) and placenta (due to its immunomodulatory properties, in addition to other useful properties), have attracted more attention in terms of research. The isolation and comparison of MSC from these two sources provides a proper source for clinical experimentation. The aim of this study was to compare the characteristics of MSC isolated from human adipose tissue and placenta. Materials and Methods: Adipose and placental MSC were isolated from the subcutaneous adipose tissues of 10 healthy women (25 to 40 years) and from a fresh term placenta (n= 1), respectively. Stem cells were characterized and compared by flow cytometry using CD29, CD31, CD34, CD44, CD45, CD105, CD166 and HLA-DR markers. Osteocytes and adipocytes were differentiated from isolated human mesenchymal stem cells (HMSC). Results: Adipose and placenta-derived MSC exhibited the same morphological features. ADSC differentiated faster than placenta; however, both were differentiated, taking up to 21 days for osteocyte and 14 days for adipocyte differentiation. About 90% of PLC-MSC and ADSC were positive for CD29, CD44, CD105, and CD166; and negative for CD31, CD34, CD45, and HLA-DR. Conclusion: The two sources of stem cells showed similar surface markers, morphology and differentiation potential and because of their multipotency for differentiating to adipocytes and osteocytes, they can be applied as attractive sources of MSC for regenerative medicine. The propagation of surface plasmon polaritons in an attenuating medium is investigated. The analytical calculations of the total electric-field Green’s tensor of a metal–dielectric interface structure are provided and novel explicit expressions for the Green’s tensor of a metal–dielectric interface are presented. The contribution of plasmons is obtained by evaluating the poles of the reflection coefficient for p-polarized waves incident on the metal interface. The emission pattern of a classical dipole located above the air/silver interface is studied. The relative intensity of the field to the field intensity in free space is studied for both normal and parallel orientations of the dipole. The quantum optical properties of a quantum emitter coupled to a metal surface are studied. Single photon emission is demonstrated for a quantum dot near a metal surface using second-order correlation functions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
