The surge in advanced imaging techniques has generated vast biomedical image data with diverse dimensions in space, time and spectrum, posing big challenges to conventional compression techniques in image storage, transmission, and sharing. Here, we propose an intelligent image compression approach with the first-proved semantic redundancy of biomedical data in the implicit neural function domain. This Semantic redundancy based Implicit Neural Compression guided with Saliency map (SINCS) can notably improve the compression efficiency for arbitrary-dimensional image data in terms of compression ratio and fidelity. Moreover, with weight transfer and residual entropy coding strategies, it shows improved compression speed while maintaining high quality. SINCS yields high quality compression with over 2000-fold compression ratio on 2D, 2D-T, 3D, 4D biomedical images of diverse targets ranging from single virus to entire human organs, and ensures reliable downstream tasks, such as object segmentation and quantitative analyses, to be conducted at high efficiency. This study investigates the connection between significant sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies in the North Pacific during boreal spring (February–April, FMA) and the subsequent South China Sea (SCS) summer monsoon (SCSSM) onset. The SST anomalies, similar to the Pacific meridional mode (PMM), referred to as the PMM+ mode, are defined to examine the new influencing factor on the SCSSM onset. Our findings reveal that the (February–March–April, FMA) PMM+ has a noteworthy positive correlation with the subsequent May SCSSM onset date, with this correlation being minimally affected by the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) during preceding winter. A robust positive PMM+ in boreal spring can be persist until May via atmosphere–ocean interaction. The cooling area over Western North Pacific would reduce precipitation heating, thereby generating Rossby waves that reinforce the formation of the anomalous anticyclone over the SCS. As a result, easterly winds and suppressed convection prevail over the SCS, making the SCSSM break out later than normal. Furthermore, the amplification of anticyclonic vorticity anomalies also strengthens the western North Pacific subtropical high (WNPSH) stronger and shifts its position further westward compared to normal years, thereby blocking active convection to the west of the SCS. Given the weakened relationship between El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the SCSSM onset in recent years, the PMM+ could be considered as a promising preceding signal for the SCSSM onset, thus holding significant implications for the SCSSM prediction efforts. Plant height and leaf morphology are considered complex agronomy traits; both are significantly related to nutrient utilization, lodging resistance, and photosynthetic efficiency, which ultimately affect biomass and yield. However, the molecular mechanism of leaf morphogenesis is still unclear. WOX is a group of plant-specific transcription factor families that regulate growth and development, cell division, and differentiation in plants. In the present study, we identified and characterized the m-876 mutant in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), which exhibited an extreme reduction in leaf width and plant height. Using a map-based cloning strategy, the m-876 mutant was narrowed down to an 11.4 Mb genomic interval on the long arm of chromosome 5. By analyzing the gene annotation information and nucleotide sequences, we found that HvWOX3A (HORVU.MOREX.r3.5HG0467090) had a G-to-A substitution at the second exon in the m-876 mutant, resulting in a change of the coding amino acid from Tryptophan to a premature stop codon at the 200th amino acid position. Remarkably, the mutation of the HvWOX3A gene leads to changes in gene expression in the m-876 mutant. Collectively, our results indicate that the loss function of the HORVU.MOREX.r3.5HG0467090 gene might be responsible for the phenotypic variation in barley mutants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Water evaporation–induced electricity generators (WEGs) are regarded as one of the most promising solutions for addressing the increasingly severe environmental pollution and energy crisis. Owing to the potential carbon emission in the preparation process of WEGs, whether WEG represents a clean electricity generation technology is open to question. Here, a brand‐new strategy is proposed for manufacturing negative carbon emission WEG (CWEG). In this strategy, the microalgae film is used as the electricity generation interface of WEG, which achieves a stable open‐circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.25 V and a short‐circuit current (Isc) of 3.3 µA. Since microalgae can capture carbon dioxide during its growing process, CWEG holds great promise to generate electricity without carbon emissions in the full life cycle compared with other WEGs. To the best of the author's knowledge, this is the first work using microalgae films to fabricate WEG. Therefore, it is believed that this work not only provides a new direction for designing high‐efficiency and eco‐friendly WEG but also offers an innovative approach to the resource utilization of microalgae. Over the last 5 million years, numerous species of Australian stygobiotic (subterranean and aquatic) beetles have evolved underground following independent colonization of aquifers by surface ancestors, providing a set of repeated evolutionary transitions from surface to subterranean life. We used this system as an 'evolutionary experiment' to investigate whether relaxed selection has provided a source of variability for adaptive radiations into ecosystems containing open niches and whether this variability underpins phenotypic evolution in cave animals. Linear and landmark-based measurements were used to quantify the morphology of subterranean species from different aquifers, compared to interstitial and closely related aquatic surface species. Subterranean dytiscids were observed to be morphologically distinct, suggesting they have a different lifestyle compared to their surface relatives. However, variation in the measured traits was much greater in the subterranean species, and unstructured, showing no evidence of clustering that would indicate adaptation to specific niches. Furthermore, a previously identified pattern of repeated nonoverlapping size variation in beetles across aquifers was not correlated with repeated body shape evolution. The observed variability across body shape and limb traits provides support for the hypothesis that relaxed selection and neutral evolution underlie the phenotypic evolution in these species. The available information on endotoxin in Chinese households is limited and there is inconsistency regarding its impact on asthma and allergies in children. A case-control study was performed in 324 homes in Tianjin, China. Linear regression analysis was performed to identify the determinants of endotoxin concentrations in household dust. Logistic regression models were employed to investigate the associations of endotoxin concentrations with asthma and allergies in children. Endotoxin concentrations were determined from 284 valid dust samples, ranging from 94 to 11,625 EU/g, with a mean concentration of 3638 EU/g. We found a significant positive association between endotoxin concentrations and children's current asthma. Old houses, ventilation systems without exhaust fans and windows opened infrequently were related to higher concentrations of endotoxins. In conclusion, endotoxin exposure in the home might be a risk factor for current asthma in children. To solve the problem that the access control strategy of the program in the industrial Internet was difficult to extract from the source code, and that the user's access operation was difficult to trigger all access paths, which led to the difficulty of universal detection of logical vulnerabilities, game theory was applied to the access control logic vulnerability detection for the first time. The vulnerabilities were identified by analyzing the game results of different participants on resource pages in the Web application, so that the access logic of different users could be targeted to obtain. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method successfully detect 31 vulnerabilities, including 8 unreported ones, out of 11 open-source applications, with a detection range exceeding 90%. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most severe complications of diabetes mellitus and potentially leads to significant visual impairment and blindness. The complex mechanisms involved in the pathological changes in DR make it challenging to achieve satisfactory outcomes with existing treatments. Diets conducive to glycemic control have been shown to improve outcomes in diabetic patients, thus positioning dietary interventions as promising avenues for DR treatment. Investigations have demonstrated that natural products (NPs) may effectively manage DR. Many types of natural compounds, including saponins, phenols, terpenoids, flavonoids, saccharides, alkaloids, and vitamins, have been shown to exert anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-neovascular, and antiapoptotic effects in vivo and in vitro. Nevertheless, the clinical application of NPs still faces challenges, such as suboptimal specificity, poor bioavailability, and a risk of toxicity. Background and Aims: Sex‐specific associations of sex hormone‐binding globulin (SHBG) and bioavailable testosterone (BAT) with NAFLD remain indeterminate. We aimed to explore observational and genetically determined relationships between each hormone and NAFLD. Methods: We included 187 395 men and 170 193 women from the UK Biobank. Linear and nonlinear Cox regression models and Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis were used to test the associations. Results: During 12.49 years of follow‐up, 2209 male and 1886 female NAFLD cases were documented. Elevated SHBG levels were linearly associated with a lower risk of NAFLD in women (HR (95% CI),.71 (.63,.79)), but not in men (a "U" shape, pnon‐linear <.001). Higher BAT levels were associated with a lower NAFLD risk in men (HR (95% CI),.81 (.71,.93)) but a higher risk in women (HR (95% CI): 1.25 (1.15, 1.36)). Genetically determined SHBG and BAT levels were linearly associated with NAFLD risk in women (OR (95% CI):.57 (.38,.87) and 2.21 (1.41, 3.26) respectively); in men, an "L‐shaped" MR association between SHBG levels and NAFLD risk was found (pnon‐linear =.016). The bidirectional MR analysis further revealed the effect of NAFLD on SHBG and BAT levels in both sexes. Conclusions: Consistently, linear associations of lower SHBG and higher BAT levels with increased NAFLD risk were both conventionally and genetically found in women, while in men, SHBG acts in a nonlinear manner. Hydrocephalus is one of the most common brain disorders and a life‐long incurable condition. An empirical "one‐size‐fits‐all" approach of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunting remains the mainstay of hydrocephalus treatment and effective pharmacotherapy options are currently lacking. Macrophage‐mediated ChP inflammation and CSF hypersecretion have recently been identified as a significant discovery in the pathogenesis of hydrocephalus. In this study, a pioneering DNA nano‐drug (TSOs) is developed by modifying S2 ssDNA and S4 ssDNA with SPAK ASO and OSR1 ASO in tetrahedral framework nucleic acids (tFNAs) and synthesis via a one‐pot annealing procedure. This construct can significantly knockdown the expression of SPAK and OSR1, along with their downstream ion channel proteins in ChP epithelial cells, thereby leading to a decrease in CSF secretion. Moreover, these findings indicate that TSOs effectively inhibit the M0 to M1 phenotypic switch of ChP macrophages via the MAPK pathways, thus mitigating the cytokine storm. In in vivo post‐hemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH) models, TSOs significantly reduce CSF secretion rates, alleviate ChP inflammation, and prevent the onset of hydrocephalus. Regenerated water serves as a supplementary source for circulating cooling water systems, but it often fosters microbial growth within pipelines. Given its widespread use as a corrosion inhibitor, understanding HEDP's efficacy in microbial environments and its impact on microorganisms is imperative. This study established an iron bacterial system by isolating and enriching iron bacteria. Through a comprehensive approach incorporating corrosion weight loss analysis, XPS analysis, SEM electron microscopy, as well as microbial and electrochemical testing, the corrosion inhibition behavior and mechanism of HEDP within the iron bacterial system were investigated. The findings reveal that within the iron bacterial system, HEDP achieves a corrosion inhibition rate of 76% following four distinct stages—weakening, strengthening, stabilizing, and further strengthening—underscoring its robust corrosion inhibition capability. Moreover, HEDP enhances the density of biofilms and elevates the activation energy of carbon steel interfaces. It alternates with oxygen to continuously suppress the activity of IRB while gradually inhibiting the activity of IOB. This process culminates in a corrosion inhibition mechanism where cathodic inhibition predominates, supported by anodic inhibition as a complementary mechanism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Photon-initiated photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) with an Er: YAG laser has been introduced in root canal treatment to improve irrigation and facilitate the removal of bacteria in the root canal system. This study aimed to compare the antibacterial effectiveness of two different root canal irrigation techniques, conventional needle irrigation (CNI) and PIPS, using 1% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), in the treatment of teeth with apical periodontitis. Sixty patients with a total of sixty teeth affected by apical periodontitis were included in this study. The teeth underwent root canal therapy, and after mechanical instrumentation, they were randomly assigned to two groups (n = 30) based on the final irrigation protocol: CNI or PIPS with 1% NaOCl. Bacterial suspensions in the root canals were evaluated using Adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) assay kit after mechanical instrumentation and after final irrigation. Then, a follow-up was conducted after 7 days. The results revealed that final irrigation significantly reduced ATP values in both the CNI and PIPS groups (P < 0.001). The ATP values after final irrigation was greater in the CNI group compared to the PIPS group (P < 0.001). After a 7-day follow-up, percussion tenderness and fistula were significantly resolved in both groups (P < 0.05). A multivariate linear regression model was used to identify the factors that influence post irrigation ATP values. The analysis demonstrated that pre-operative percussion tenderness (P = 0.006), the presence of a fistula (P < 0.001) and the method used in the final irrigation (P < 0.001) had a significant impact on the ATP value after final irrigation. These results indicate that employing PIPS with 1% NaOCl as the final irrigation protocol exhibited superior antibacterial effectiveness and has the potential to enhance clinical outcomes in the treatment of teeth afflicted with apical periodontitis. The South China Sea summer monsoon (SCSSM) onset and withdrawal have critical impacts on the climate of East Asia. However, using different reanalysis data may lead to the uncertainty of the SCSSM. This study uses reanalysis datasets including JRA‐55, ERA5, NCEP‐NCAR NCEP‐1 and NCEP‐DOE NCEP‐2 to calculate onset and withdrawal dates and index of SCSSM from 1991 to 2020, analyses the uncertainty and figures out the possible reasons. Results reveal that the four reanalysis datasets have obvious uncertainty in calculating the withdrawal date of SCSSM, with the deviation being up to 3.4 pentads. Further analysis shows that large differences in thermal conditions and lead to the uncertainties. From the perspective of precipitation, Greater uncertainty exists in the relationship between monsoon retreat and September–October precipitation, NCEP1 and NCEP2 datasets show weak correlation in southern China and Indonesia. Moreover, the uncertainty can be also found in the correlations of SCSSM with global sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies. JRA‐55 and ERA5 show a strong correlation of with SST in several areas, and exhibit a distinct Pacific decadal oscillation (PDO) mode with monsoon onset, while NCEP‐1 and NCEP‐2 have a weaker correlation with SST anomalies than JRA‐55 or ERA5. Comparing multiple factors comprehensively, this paper concludes that JRA‐55 may be more representative in the monsoon study, followed by ERA data. In short, depending on the specific research questions, researchers can choose appropriate data sources to study the SCSSM based on the different aspects and the uncertainty also deserve our special attention when selecting the reanalysis datasets. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) exert a significant influence not only on the pathogenesis of diseases but also on their therapeutic interventions, contingent upon the variances observed in their originating cells. Mitochondria can be transported between cells via EVs to promote pathological changes. In this study, we found that EVs derived from M1 macrophages (M1‐EVs), which encapsulate inflammatory mitochondria, can penetrate pancreatic beta cells. Inflammatory mitochondria fuse with the mitochondria of pancreatic beta cells, resulting in lipid peroxidation and mitochondrial disruption. Furthermore, fragments of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) are released into the cytosol, activating the STING pathway and ultimately inducing apoptosis. The potential of adipose‐derived stem cell (ADSC)‐released EVs in suppressing M1 macrophage reactions shows promise. Subsequently, ADSC‐EVs were utilized and modified with an F4/80 antibody to specifically target macrophages, aiming to treat ferroptosis of pancreatic beta cells in vivo. In summary, our data further demonstrate that EVs secreted from M1 phenotype macrophages play major roles in beta cell ferroptosis, and the modified ADSC‐EVs exhibit considerable potential for development as a vehicle for targeted delivery to macrophages. Epimedium (EM) and Psoraleae Fructus (PF) are a traditional herb combination often used as a fixed form to treat osteoporosis disease in the clinic. However, the intricate interactions of this pair remain unknown. In our study, we undertook a comprehensive examination of their compatibility behaviors. Concurrently, a precise and sensitive quantitation method was successfully developed and validated using liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry for the determination of 12 components. This method was applied in analyzing herbal extracts and biological samples (both in the portal vein and systemic plasma), which was also used to study the pharmacokinetics of the herb pair. The results indicated that the combination of EM and PF enhanced the dissolution of chemical components from PF in extracts, but it had a negligible influence on the contents of the components from EM. On the contrary, the in vivo exposure of the lowly exposed EM flavonoids significantly increased following the combination of EM and PF, whereas the highly exposed psoralen and isopsoralen were greatly reduced. These interactions might be crucial for the synergy and toxicity reduction of the herbal pair in disease treatment, which pave the way for further exploration into the clinical application and pharmacological mechanisms of EM and PF. Topical application of tyrosinase inhibitors, such as hydroquinone and arbutin, is the most common clinical treatment for hyperpigmentation. Glabridin (Gla) is a natural isoflavone that inhibits tyrosinase activity, free radical scavenging, and antioxidation. However, its water solubility is poor, and it cannot pass through the human skin barrier alone. Tetrahedral framework nucleic acid (tFNA), a new type of DNA biomaterial, can penetrate cells and tissues and can be used as carriers to deliver small‐molecule drugs, polypeptides, and oligonucleotides. This study aimed to develop a compound drug system using tFNA as the carrier to transport Gla and deliver it through the skin to treat pigmentation. Furthermore, we aimed to explore whether tFNA–Gla can effectively alleviate the hyperpigmentation caused by increased melanin production and determine whether tFNA–Gla exerts substantial synergistic effects during treatment. Our results showed that the developed system successfully treated pigmentation by inhibiting regulatory proteins related to melanin production. Furthermore, our findings showed that the system was effective in treating epidermal and superficial dermal diseases. In the deep well drilling process in the Fukang Depression of the Eastern Junggar Basin, rock fracturing issues and low rate of penetration (ROP) have posed significant challenges to drilling efficiency. Accurate predictions of ROP prior to drilling are of considerable value in this context. Precise predictions enable on-site engineering teams to proactively identify drilling difficulties and anticipate potential complex scenarios, facilitating them in designing preventive measures in advance, such as selecting appropriate drill bits, adjusting drilling parameters, or employing specific drilling techniques to address these issues. This, in turn, enhances drilling efficiency and greatly reduces drilling risks. Traditional mechanical-specific energy drilling rate models, despite their widespread use, exhibit significant disparities with actual results when predicting ROP. These models only consider the influence of drill bits, drilling tools, and some drilling parameters on ROP, failing to adequately account for the variations caused by engineering factors and failing to capture the interrelationships between various parameters, especially when dealing with complex subsurface formations in the Fukang Depression. Random forest is a non-parametric algorithm in the field of machine learning that is suitable for analyzing and predicting ROP affected by various complex and non-linear drilling parameters. This paper establishes a Random forest model based on a dataset containing multiple variables of logging parameters and the actual ROP. The model ranks and assesses the important feature parameters of ROP to reveal their impact. Additionally, the model uses bootstrap sampling and feature random selection to construct multiple decision trees, reducing the risk of overfitting and endowing the model with a high generalization capability. Evaluation metrics indicate that the model exhibits a high prediction accuracy and performs well, significantly improving the accuracy of mechanical drilling rate predictions in the deep wells of the Fukang Depression. Skin photodamage, which is induced by ultraviolet (UV) radiation, is a prevalent cause of skin damage. In this study, a transdermal drug delivery system is developed for the topical treatment of skin photodamage, which is composed of tetrahedral framework nucleic acids (tFNAs) and lipoic acid (LA). The tFNAs‐LA (TLA) nanocomposite exhibits excellent biocompatibility, as well as antioxidant, anti‐apoptotic, and anti‐inflammatory capabilities. tFNA, as a carrier, facilitates TLA for cell entry and skin penetration, while the loaded LA enhances the antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory capabilities. In photodamaged human dermal fibroblast (HDF), TLA promotes proliferation and migration while inhibiting apoptosis activation and reactive oxygen species production. Moreover, TLA modulates apoptosis‐related proteins and NF‐κB signaling pathways, increasing cellular secretion while suppressing inflammatory responses in photodamaged HDF cells. In the in vivo experiment, topical application of TLA promotes tissue healing in photodamaged skin, and regulates the expression of inflammation and collagen‐related proteins. It is suggested that the transdermal ability of TLA enables non‐invasive therapy for skin photodamage, highlighting the potential of employing nucleic acid‐based transdermal drug delivery systems for skin disease. In this review, we summarized recent advances in walnut protein with respect to its geographical distribution, structural and physiochemical properties and functional attributes. As a worldwide cultivated and largely consumptive crop, allergies and some physicochemical limitations have also led to a few concerns about walnut protein. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached over 1.3 million in Ontario, Canada by June 4, 2022. The continued spread of the virus underlying COVID-19 has been spurred by the emergence of variants since the initial outbreak in December, 2019. Much attention has thus been devoted to tracking and modelling the transmission of COVID-19. Compartmental models are commonly used to mimic epidemic transmission mechanisms and are easy to understand. Their performance in real-world settings, however, needs to be more thoroughly assessed. In this comparative study, we examine five compartmental models—four existing ones and an extended model that we propose—and analyze their ability to describe COVID-19 transmission in Ontario from January 2022 to June 2022. Human gait is systematically deformed by physical loads, this study constructs and evaluates an algorithm for classifying different levels of physical loads. The algorithm uses wearable IMUs data to classify different levels of loads. We aim to evaluate classification as strategy for multi-loads recognition for the control of wearable exoskeletons. 10 adults participated in the experiment. In the experiment, the subjects walked on flat ground carrying a backpack with different weight of loads (0, 15 and 25 kg), and three sensors on the lower limbs collected the subjects' gait data in real time. In this study, a method of classification decision based on multiple bidirectional long short-term memory(multi-BiLSTMs) was proposed which was used to classify the load level of the collected data. The classification accuracy of this method reached 94.1%, and the F-score was 0.935–0.952. Compared with LSTM and BiLSTM, the proposed method has better performance in accuracy of load classification. How to seek multiregional sustainable development within planetary boundaries depends on the scientific inquiry into urban carrying capacity from multiscale evaluation and multidimensional interaction. Using a typical region moving forward on the sustainable development demonstration belt of China, the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB), as a case study, a new integrated framework of multiscale evaluation and multidimensional interaction is proposed to track the urban comprehensive carrying capacity. We made a multiscale comprehensive assessment and constructed a panel vector autoregressive model for giving dissection on the drivers of urban carrying capacity and the qualitative and quantitative interaction from multidimensional variations. Results show that (1) the urban carrying capacity of China's YREB and its three reaches harbors an upward trend over time although there are uneven development patterns of inter‐regional and inter‐dimensional urban carrying capacity; (2) factor market carrying capacity (FMCC) is the critical driving force among four dimensions of urban carrying capacity, which has promotion effects on ecological environment carrying capacity (EECC) and industrial economics carrying capacity, but an inhibiting effect on transportation carrying capacity (TCC). Sepsis is a highly lethal condition and is caused by the dysregulation of the body's immune response to infection. Indeed, sepsis remains the leading cause of death in severely ill patients, and currently, no effective treatment is available. Pyroptosis, which is mainly activated by cytoplasmic danger signals and eventually promote the release of the pro‐inflammatory factors, is a newly discovered programmed cell death procedure that clears infected cells while simultaneously triggering an inflammatory response. Increasing evidence indicates that pyroptosis participates in the development of sepsis. As a novel DNA nanomaterial, tetrahedral framework nucleic acids (tFNAs) characterized by its unique spatial structure, possess an excellent biosafety profile and can quickly enter the cell to impart anti‐inflammatory and anti‐oxidation effects. In this study, the roles of tFNAs in the in vitro model of macrophage cell pyroptosis and in the in vivo model of septic mice were examined, and it was found that tFNAs could mitigate organ inflammatory damage in septic mice, wherein they reduced inflammatory factor levels by inhibiting pyroptosis. Single cell RNA‐seq (scRNA‐seq) profiles conceal temporal and spatial tissue developmental information. De novo reconstruction of single cell temporal trajectory has been fairly addressed, but reverse engineering single cell 3D spatial tissue organization is hitherto landmark based, and de novo spatial reconstruction is a compelling computational open problem. Here it is shown that a proposed algorithm for de novo coalescent embedding (D‐CE) of oligo/single cell transcriptomic networks can help to address this problem. Relying on the spatial information encoded in the expression patterns of genes, it is found that D‐CE of cell–cell association transcriptomic networks, by preserving mesoscale network organization, captures spatial domains, identifies spatially expressed genes, reconstructs cell samples' 3D spatial distribution, and uncovers spatial domains and markers necessary for understanding the design principles on spatial organization and pattern formation. Comparison to the novoSpaRC and CSOmap (the only available de novo 3D spatial reconstruction methods) on 14 datasets and 497 reconstructions, reveals a significantly superior performance of D‐CE. Phosphate (Pi) deficiency is one of the most limiting factors for Chinese fir growth and production. Moreover, continuous cultivation of Chinese fir for multiple generations led to the reduction of soil nutrients, which hindered the yield of Chinese fir in southern China. Although NAC (NAM, ATAF, and CUC) transcription factors (TFs) play critical roles in plant development and abiotic stress resistance, it is still unclear how they regulate the response of Chinese fir to phosphate (Pi) starvation. Based on Pi-deficient transcriptome data of Chinses fir root, we identified a NAC transcription factor with increased expression under Pi deficiency, which was obtained by PCR and named ClNAC100. RT-qPCR confirmed that the expression of ClNAC100 in the root of Chinese fir was induced by phosphate deficiency and showed a dynamic change with time. It was positively regulated by ABA and negatively regulated by JA, and ClNAC100 was highly expressed in the roots and leaves of Chinese fir. Transcriptional activation assay confirmed that ClNAC100 was a transcriptional activator. The promoter of ClNAC100 was obtained by genome walking, which was predicted to contain a large number of stress, hormone, and growth-related cis-elements. Tobacco infection was used to verify the activity of the promoter, and the core promoter was located between −1519 bp and −589 bp. We identified 18 proteins bound to the ClNAC100 promoter and 5 ClNAC100 interacting proteins by yeast one-hybrid and yeast two-hybrid, respectively. We speculated that AHL and TIFY family transcription factors, calmodulin, and E3 ubiquitin ligase in these proteins might be important phosphorus-related proteins. During the pyrolysis and gasification processes inside fluidized bed reactors, a single reactive particle is generally surrounded by multiple inert heat carrier particles. In this work, we focus on the simplest mixed particle pair (one reactive particle: P1, and one inert particle: P2) to investigate the joint effects of the Stefan Reynolds number (Resf), the particle Reynolds number (Re), separation distance normalized by particle diameter (L), and relative orientation (α) on the drag force exerting on each particle by particle-resolved direct numerical simulations. The results show that when particles are placed in a tandem arrangement, the blocking effect on P2 is weakened/strengthened with negative/positive Stefan flow since the effective diameter of P1 is smaller/larger than its real diameter. When L = 1.25, Re = 3, and particles are placed in tandem, the drag force of P1 decreases as Resf increases, but the reduction of the drag force decreases as Re increases. Under such conditions, the positive Stefan flow induces the repulsion between the two particles; thus, the drag force of P2 increases as Resf increases. When Resf = 3 and P2 is located downstream, the repulsive force felt by P1 can partially offset the drag force at L = 1.25, Re = 3. Moreover, the negative/positive Stefan flow enhances/weakens the drag force of P2 when it is located upstream. The Stefan flow has a negligible effect on the drag force of P2 when L = 3. Single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM) can be used to resolve subcellular structures and achieve a tenfold improvement in spatial resolution compared to that obtained by conventional fluorescence microscopy. However, the separation of single-molecule fluorescence events that requires thousands of frames dramatically increases the image acquisition time and phototoxicity, impeding the observation of instantaneous intracellular dynamics. Here we develop a deep-learning based single-frame super-resolution microscopy (SFSRM) method which utilizes a subpixel edge map and a multicomponent optimization strategy to guide the neural network to reconstruct a super-resolution image from a single frame of a diffraction-limited image. Under a tolerable signal density and an affordable signal-to-noise ratio, SFSRM enables high-fidelity live-cell imaging with spatiotemporal resolutions of 30 nm and 10 ms, allowing for prolonged monitoring of subcellular dynamics such as interplays between mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum, the vesicle transport along microtubules, and the endosome fusion and fission. Moreover, its adaptability to different microscopes and spectra makes it a useful tool for various imaging systems. Spark ignition (SI) engines fueled with kerosene have broad application prospects in unmanned aviation vehicles. The knock phenomenon of kerosene in SI engines is a huge challenge, leading to a much lower power output than gasoline engines. In this context, the combustion characteristics of kerosene blending with hydrogen are analyzed numerically regarding the working conditions of an SI engine. First, the ignition delay time of a kerosene/hydrogen mixture is estimated for temperatures of 600–1000 K and pressures of 15–35 bar using the Tay mechanism. The effects of hydrogen addition are evaluated with a ratio of 0–0.4. The sensitivities of the main reactions that affect the ignition delay time are discussed. Then, the laminar flame speed is predicted using the HYCHEM-SK mechanism, and the effects of hydrogen addition on the net reaction rates of the main reactions are analyzed. The results indicate that the ignition delay time is shortened and the laminar flame speed is increased as the hydrogen addition ratio rises. Meanwhile, the ignition delay time decreases except for the NTC range, and the laminar flame speed increases evidently as the temperature rises. In addition, the ignition delay time decreases obviously as the pressure increases with a temperature greater than 750 K. However, the laminar flame speed declines at 600 K and 800 K, while an opposite trend exhibits at 1000 K as the pressure rises. The laminar flame speed increases by 23.85–24.82%, while the ignition delay time only decreases by 4.02–3.59% at 1000 K as the hydrogen addition ratio rises from 0 to 0.4, which will be beneficial for knock suppression. There has been an encouraging progress in the affective states recognition models based on the single-modality signals as electroencephalogram (EEG) signals or peripheral physiological signals in recent years. However, multimodal physiological signals-based affective states recognition methods have not been thoroughly exploited yet. Here we propose Multiscale Convolutional Neural Networks (Multiscale CNNs) and a biologically inspired decision fusion model for multimodal affective states recognition. First, the raw signals are pre-processed with baseline signals. Then, the High Scale CNN and Low Scale CNN in Multiscale CNNs are utilized to predict the probability of affective states output for EEG and each peripheral physiological signal respectively. Finally, the fusion model calculates the reliability of each single-modality signals by the euclidean distance between various class labels and the classification probability from Multiscale CNNs, and the decision is made by the more reliable modality information while other modalities information is retained. We use this model to classify four affective states from the arousal valence plane in the DEAP and AMIGOS dataset. The results show that the fusion model improves the accuracy of affective states recognition significantly compared with the result on single-modality signals, and the recognition accuracy of the fusion result achieve 98.52 and 99.89 percent in the DEAP and AMIGOS dataset respectively. Objectives: Titanium mesh has become a mainstream choice for guided bone regeneration (GBR) owing to its excellent space maintenance. However, the traditional fixation method using titanium screws impacts surgery efficiency and increases patient trauma. We report a novel method of fixing a titanium mesh using resorbable sutures. We assessed the feasibility of resorbable sutures for fixing a titanium mesh and whether it can serve as a stable, universal, and minimally invasive fixation method for a broader application of titanium meshes. Methods: Patients undergoing GBR with a digital titanium mesh fixed using titanium screws (TS group) and resorbable sutures (RS group) were observed at different time points. The stability of the fixation methods was evaluated on parameters such as titanium mesh spatial displacement, bone augmentation, and bone resorption. Results: A total of 36 patients were included in this study. The exposure rate of the titanium mesh in the TS group was 16.67%, while no exposure was noted in the RS group. There was no significant difference in the parameters of titanium mesh spatial displacement, bone augmentation, and bone resorption between the two groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The use of resorbable sutures for fixing a titanium mesh can achieve similar results to traditional fixation using titanium screws. Although this new fixation method can improve the efficiency of the surgery and reduce the risk of complications, the long‐term clinical effects require further follow‐up investigation. Insects use a powerful and complex olfactory recognition system to sense odor molecules in the external environment to guide behavior. A large family of odorant receptors (ORs) mediates the detection of pheromone compounds. Anoplophora glabripennis is a destructive pest that harms broad-leaved tree species. Although olfactory sensation is an important factor affecting the information exchange of A. glabripennis, little is known about the key ORs involved. Here, we identified ninety-eight AglaORs in the Agla2.0 genome and found that the AglaOR gene family had expanded with structural and functional diversity. RT-qPCR was used to analyze the expression of AglaORs in sex tissues and in adults at different developmental stages. Twenty-three AglaORs with antennal-biased expression were identified. Among these, eleven were male-biased and two were female-biased and were more significantly expressed in the sexual maturation stage than in the post-mating stage, suggesting that these genes play a role in sexual communication. Relatively, two female-biased AglaORs were overexpressed in females seeking spawning grounds after mating, indicating that these genes might be involved in the recognition of host plant volatiles that may regulate the selection of spawning grounds. Consistent annotation transfer from reference dataset to query dataset is fundamental to the development and reproducibility of single-cell research. Compared with traditional annotation methods, deep learning based methods are faster and more automated. A series of useful single cell analysis tools based on autoencoder architecture have been developed but these struggle to strike a balance between depth and interpretability. Here, we present TOSICA, a multi-head self-attention deep learning model based on Transformer that enables interpretable cell type annotation using biologically understandable entities, such as pathways or regulons. We show that TOSICA achieves fast and accurate one-stop annotation and batch-insensitive integration while providing biologically interpretable insights for understanding cellular behavior during development and disease progressions. We demonstrate TOSICA's advantages by applying it to scRNA-seq data of tumor-infiltrating immune cells, and CD14+ monocytes in COVID-19 to reveal rare cell types, heterogeneity and dynamic trajectories associated with disease progression and severity. Developing computational tools for interpretable cell type annotation in scRNA-seq data remains challenging. Although cobalt (Co) is indispensable for life, it is toxic to cells when accumulated in excess. The DmeRF system is a well-characterized metal-response system that contributes to Co and nickel resistance in certain bacterial species. The Vibrio parahaemolyticus RIMD 2210633 genome also harbors a dmeRF operon that encodes a multiple antibiotic resistance regulator family transcriptional regulator and a cation diffusion facilitator family protein. Quantitative real-time PCR, growth curves analysis, inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry, β-galactosidase activity assays, electrophoretic mobility shift assays, and a mouse infection experiment were performed to characterize the function of the DmeRF system in V. parahaemolyticus. Zinc, copper, and Co significantly increase dmeF expression, with Co inducing the greatest increase. DmeF promotes V. parahaemolyticus growth under high-Co conditions. Additionally, increased accumulation of cellular Co in the ΔdmeF mutant indicates that DmeF is potentially involved in Co efflux. Moreover, DmeR represses the dmeRF operon by binding directly to its promoter in the absence of Co. Finally, the DmeRF system was not required for V. parahaemolyticus virulence in mice. The hydrophilic Ti3C2, typical MXenes containing surface functional groups, possess excellent conductivity, was mainly applied in supercapacitors. However, it had not obvious photocatalytic and antibacterial activity because of high electron hole-pair recombination rate and concentration dependence. In this work, a novel MXenes-based Schottky junction (UiO-NH2@TiC) was fabricated by a simple solvothermal method using Ti3C2 as the conductive carrier and UiO66-NH2 as positively charged nano-MOFs (metal organic frameworks). After verifying the synthesis of UiO-NH2@TiC by SEM (scanning electron microscopy), EDS (energy dispersive spectrometer), XRD (powder X-ray diffraction), and FT-IR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), its photochemical properties were also measured. Then, the photocatalytic antibacterial activity and the photodegradation behavior were investigated. The results indicated that UiO-NH2@TiC Schottky junction could not only remove the remaining antibiotics in wastewater (91%), but also effectively inhibited the growth of bacteria, and the inhibition rate of E. coli (Escherichia coli) and S. aureus (Staphylococcus aureus) more than 95% under visible light irradiation. In summary, it is an effective strategy for constructing functional Schottky junction. What's more, the obtained Schottky junction has great potential in practical application. Simple Summary: The lack of efficient methods to extract haemolymph from adult cerambycid beetles limits physiological and biochemical research on these important pest species. To enable the collection of large amounts of pure haemolymph from Cerambycidae adults efficiently and easily, we developed an innovative extraction method, termed net centrifugation. Anoplophora chinensis, Monochamus saltuarius and Saperda populnea, three cerambycid beetle species with substantial differences in adult size, were used to evaluate the newly developed method. Compared with estimates for other commonly used methods for coleopteran haemolymph collection, this method generated a larger amount of pure haemolymph in a shorter time. The net centrifugation method is therefore highly efficient, providing a solid foundation for further studies of cerambycid beetles. Cerambycid beetles (Cerambycidae) are major forest pests, posing a serious threat to the security of forest resources worldwide. Extensive research has focused on the control of cerambycid beetles from physiological and biochemical perspectives. Despite the important roles of insect haemolymph in physiological processes, efficient collection methods for Cerambycidae are lacking. For the efficient and easy collection of large amounts of pure haemolymph from adult cerambycid beetles, a new method, named net centrifugation, was developed. Three species of cerambycid beetles with large differences in size, Anoplophora chinensis, Monochamus saltuarius and Saperda populnea, were selected for the study. Haemolymph was collected by the newly developed net centrifugation method—in which an inner nylon net is used during centrifugation under optimised conditions, and a relatively small wound is generated on the insect—as well as the traditional tearing method and double centrifugation method. Among the three methods evaluated, the net centrifugation method caused the least damage to cerambycid beetles during the whole operation. This method resulted in the most haemolymph from a single beetle, with the lowest turbidity, mostly pure haemocytes in the precipitate, the clearest haemolymph smears by microscopy and the highest quality of RNA extracted from haemocytes. Purpose: The adaptive immune responses induced by radiotherapy has been demonstrated to largely rely on STING-dependent type I interferons (IFNs) production. However, irradiated tumor cells often fail to induce dendritic cells (DCs) to produce type I IFNs. Hence, we aim to uncover the limitation of STING-mediated innate immune sensing following radiation, and identify efficient reagents capable to rescue the failure of type I IFNs induction for facilitating radiotherapy. Methods: A targeted cell-based phenotypic screening was performed to search for active molecules that could elevate the production of type I IFNs. USP14 knockout or inhibition was assayed for IFN production and the activation of STING signaling in vitro. The mechanisms of USP14 were investigated by western blot and co-immunoprecipitation in vitro. Additionally, combinational treatments with PT33 and radiation in vivo and in vitro models were performed to evaluate type I IFNs responses to radiation. Results: PT33 was identified as an enhancer of STING agonist elicited type I IFNs production to generate an elevated and durable STING activation profile in vitro. Mechanistically, USP14 inhibition or deletion impairs the deubiquitylation of K63-linked IRF3. Furthermore, blockade of USP14 with PT33 enhances DC sensing of irradiated-tumor cells in vitro, and synergizes with radiation to promote systemic antitumor immunity in vivo. Conclusion: Our findings reveal that USP14 is one of the major IFN production suppressors and impairs the activation of IRF3 by removing the K63-linked ubiquitination of IRF3. With the urgent requirement of the utilization of renewable energy (RE) for the decarbonization of energy systems, power transmission via high-voltage direct current (HVDC) lines shows limits in the face of fluctuations of RE generation. This paper addresses the coordinated planning of HVDCs and power-to-hydrogen supply chains (P2HSCs) for RE utilization. First, the lumped cluster model of the large-scale power-to-hydrogen is established based on the derivation of the maximum production points. On this basis, P2HSC is modeled as a constrained power load. Then, a multi-objective multi-stage stochastic planning model of HVDCs and P2HSCs is proposed to fully consider RE fluctuation and uncertainty characteristics. Furthermore, a decomposition algorithm based on the dynamic programming method is designed to solve this problem. Finally, the proposed model and algorithm are applied in real Inner Mongolia-Shandong case studies. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed model are quantitatively verified. Furthermore, the investment interplay of HVDCs and P2HSCs on the planning timeline and the operational interplay of the two sectors as complementary power loads are verified to create the maximum social benefit in renewable energy systems. Stipe elongation is one of the main characteristics of the postharvest quality deterioration of Flammulina velutipes fruiting bodies. In order to reduce the postharvest stipe elongation of F. velutipes and prolong its shelf life, in this study, using polyethylene (PE) packaging and unpackaged treatments as controls, the effects of a polyethylene nano-packaging on postharvest stipe elongation of F. velutipes were investigated and its regulatory mechanisms were explored from the physiological and biochemical aspects. The results showed that the CO2 content in polyethylene nano-packaging boxes was higher than in control boxes, and the O2 content was lower than in the control group, indicating that nano-packaging could reduce F. velutipes respiration during low-temperature storage. The stipe elongation rate, chitinase activity, and β-1,3-glucanase activities of F. velutipes were lower in the nano-packaging group than in PE-packaged and unpackaged control groups, and the nano-packaging inhibited the increase in chitin and β-glucan, the main components of the cell wall. The levels of auxin (IAA), abscisic acid (ABA), gibberellin (GA), and cytokinin (CTK) were also lower in the nano-packaged group than in controls at most timepoints. After 18 d of storage, polyethylene nano-packaging inhibited the stipe elongation of fruiting bodies, and maintained mushroom quality, with stipe elongation of only 34.7% and 76.7% of PE-packaged and unpackaged control groups, respectively. The upside-down jellyfish Cassiopea has become a model organism for the study of symbiosis between dinoflagellates and cnidarian hosts. Most previous studies have indicated that the presence of symbiotic zooxanthellae is a key requirement for strobilation in Cassiopea. Indole compounds have been shown to induce strobilation in many scyphozoans, including symbiotic Cassiopea xamachana. To determine if indoles could induce aposymbiotic Cassiopea polyp strobilation, we acquired algal-free Cassiopea andromeda polyps and used three indoles (indomethacin, 2-methyl indole, and 5-methoxy-2-methyl indole) to induce metamorphosis by applying single doses within a range of 0.005–100 μM. Analysis showed that indoles successfully induced aposymbiotic polyp strobilation and that the induction effects were compound- and dose-dependent. 5-Methoxy-2-methyl indole and 2-methyl indole were significantly more effective than indomethacin (P < 0.001). Data showed that it took 3 to 9 days for 5-methoxy-2-methyl indole or 2-methyl indole to induce strobilation and that 25 μM of 2-methyl indole was the most effective inducer of strobilation in algae-free C. andromeda polyps. Indole-induced strobilation was associated with several developmental abnormalities, including failed or retarded regeneration of residual polyps after strobilation, a reduction in the size of ephyrae, and abnormal morphology of the ephyrae. Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook) is a widely grown gymnosperm in China. Phosphorus (P) is an indispensable nutrient for the growth of Chinese fir. Inorganic phosphate (Pi) deficiency exists in soils of many Chinese fir planting area regions, and the trees themselves have limited efficiency in utilizing P from the soil. Ethylene is important in regulation responses to nutrient deficiencies. However, little is known about how ethylene signals participate in Pi stress in Chinese fir. A total of six different treatments were performed to reveal the transcript levels of Chinese fir under Pi, ethephon (an ethylene-releasing compound), and CoCl2 (cobalt chloride, an ethylene biosynthesis inhibitor) treatments. We assembled a full-length reference transcriptome containing 22,243 unigenes as a reference for UMI RNA-seq (Digital RNA-seq). There were 586 Differentially Expressed Genes (DEGs) in the Pi starvation (NP) group, while DEGs from additional ethephon or CoCl2 in NP were 708 and 292, respectively. Among the DEGs in each treatment, there were 83 TFs in these treatment groups. MYB (v-myb avian myeloblastosis viral oncogene homolog) family was the most abundant transcription factors (TFs). Three ERF (Ethylene response factor) family genes were identified when only ethylene content was imposed as a variable. Enrichment analysis indicated that the ascorbate and aldarate metabolism pathway plays a key role in resistance to Pi deficiency. Wolfberry (Lycium barbarum L.) is a nutritious and medicinal fruit, and deeply processed products of wolfberry needs to be improved. In this study, nutrition, bioactive compounds, and hepaprotective activity were explored in wolfberry vinegar (WFV). The contents of nutrients including total sugar and protein in WFV samples were 2.46 and 0.27 g/100 mL, respectively. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents in WFV were 2.42 mg GAE/mL and 1.67 mg RE/mL, respectively. p-Hydroxybenzoic acid and m-hydroxycinnamic acid were the main polyphenols in WFV. The antioxidant activity of WFV were 20.176 mM Trolox/L (ABTS), 8.614 mM Trolox/L (FRAP), and 26.736 mM Trolox/L (DPPH), respectively. In addition, WFV treatment effectively alleviated liver injury by improving histopathological changes and reducing liver biochemical indexes in CCl4-treated mice. WFV alleviated oxidative damage by inhibiting oxidative levels and increasing antioxidant levels. These results suggest that WFV can be utilized as a functional food to prevent oxidative liver injury. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
