MXene quantum dots (MQDs), an emerging zero‐dimensional nanomaterial, have garnered significant attention from researchers due to their distinctive physical and chemical properties. In this study, cysteine‐functionalized Ti3C2 MQDs were synthesized using a facile hydrothermal methods, resulting in the functionalized Ti3C2 MQDs exhibiting intense blue fluorescence attributed to size‐dependent effects and surface defects. Furthermore, the cysteine‐functionalized Ti3C2 MQDs exhibit excitation wavelength‐dependent emission behavior and serve as a highly sensitive fluorescent probe for Ag+ detection with an impressive low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.015 μM. Moreover, they demonstrate exceptional sensitivity and selectivity in determining Ag+. Objective Breast cancer is a malignant tumor in the epithelial tissue of the breast gland. This study aimed to unveil the expression and clinical diagnostic value of lncRNA cervical cancer high-expressed 1 (CCHE1) in breast cancer. Methods CCHE1 expression in breast cancer tissues was evaluated by RT-qPCR. The relationship between the CCHE1 expression and clinicopathological features of breast cancer was analyzed with the chi-square test, and the survival of breast cancer patients was evaluated with the Kaplan–Meier method. The diagnostic value of CCHE1 expression for breast cancer was evaluated by using the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve. Breast cancer cell lines (SKBR3, T47D, BT474, and MCF-7) were cultured for detecting CCHE1 expression in the cells. MCF-7 cells were selected for the subsequent experiments, and the small interfering RNA of CCHE1 (si-CCHE1) and CCHE1 overexpression vector (pcDNA-CCHE1) were transfected into MCF-7 cells. The proliferation, migration, and invasive ability were assessed by CCK-8 and Transwell assays. The influence of CCHE1 on the growth of tumors was validated by nude mice xenograft assay. Results CCHE1 was up-regulated in breast cancer tissues and breast cancer cells. The high expression level of CCHE1 in cancer tissues of breast cancer patients was correlated with larger tumor size, advanced TNM stage, Ki-67 status, and lymph node metastasis. The area under the ROC curve for CCHE1 in the diagnosis of breast cancer was 0.983 (95% CI: 0.966–1.000), with a sensitivity of 95.00% and a specificity of 91.70%. The 5-year survival rate was higher in patients with low CCHE1 expression than those with high CCHE1 expression. Furthermore, restrained CCHE1 impeded proliferation, invasion, and migration of MCF-7 cells, as well as tumor growth in mice. Conclusion Our study highlights that elevated expression of CCHE1 in breast cancer tissues, which is closely related to clinicopathologic features, has some clinical value in the diagnosis of the disease. Fine-tuned interaction between reacting molecules and metal surface is of great importance in heterogeneous catalysis for the design of highly selective processes. Conventional strategies based on adjusting the intrinsic catalyst properties such as particle size, metal-support interaction and morphology suffer from complicated and time-consuming synthetic procedures. Recently, the modification of metal nanoparticles with non-metallic promoters has been demonstrated as an effective tool to regulate the interfacial environment of metallic catalysis. Herein, we will give an overview of recent progress in this area. A general analysis will be proposed about the electronic, steric effects and new functionalities imposed by non-metallic promoters of metal catalysts. Background: Recent studies have indicated that microRNA (miRNA) expression in tumour tissues has prognostic significance in Tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) patients. This study explored the possible prognostic value of miRNAs for TSCC based on published research. Methods: A comprehensive literature search of multiple databases was conducted according to predefined eligibility criteria. Data were extracted from the included studies by two researchers, and HR results were determined based on Kaplan‒Meier curves according to the Tierney method. The Newcastle‒Ottawa Scale (NOS) and GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation) pro-GDT were applied to assess the quality of all studies. Publication bias was estimated by funnel plot, Egger's rank correlation test and sensitivity analysis. Results: Eleven studies (891patients) were included, of which 6 reported up-regulated miRNAs and 7 mentioned down-regulated miRNAs. The pooled hazard ratio (HR) from the prognostic indicator overall survival (OS) was 1.34 (1.25–1.44), p < 0.00001, indicating a significant difference in miRNA expression between TSCC patients with better or worse prognosis. Here we report a simple and versatile strategy to maneuver the nanoparticle‐cell membrane interaction by creating a tunable hydrophobic protrusion on Janus particles through swelling‐induced symmetry breaking. When the Janus particle contacts cell membrane, the protrusion will induce membrane wrapping, leading the particles to docking to the membrane, followed by drawing the whole particles into the cell. The efficiencies of both membrane anchoring and cellular internalization can be promoted by optimizing the size of the protrusion. In vitro, the Janus particles can quickly anchor to the cell membrane in 1 h and be internalized within 24 h, regardless of the types of cells involved. In vivo, the Janus particles can effectively anchor to the brain and skin tissues to provide a high retention in these tissues after intracerebroventricular, intrahippocampal, or subcutaneous injection. Global climate change has resulted in an increase in the frequency, intensity, and duration of extreme events. However, we know very little about the associations between large temperature changes lasting for several days (LTCD) and CVD, particularly in less-developed, rural areas. We collected daily data on cardiovascular-related diseases and weather conditions from 119 villages in seven counties between 2010 and 2016. A distributed lag non-linear model was used to investigate the association between LTCD and relative risk (RR) of hospital admissions for CVD. Analyses were stratified by the duration and intensity of LTCD, age, and sex. The RR of CVD increases with the intensity and duration of LTCD. Men and young people were more vulnerable to LTCD of longer duration and higher intensity than women and old. Our findings may help local public health authorities develop adaptive preventive strategies targeting inhabitants of villages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aims: Biocrusts are important living covers in ecologically fragile regions that intercept metals entering the soil and indicate heavy metal contamination. This study explored the potential of biocrusts as a novel approach for remediating heavy metal pollution in mining areas. We also investigated the capacity of biocrusts to enrich or degrade heavy metals in gold mine tailings and analyzed the migration, transformation mechanisms, and potential toxic effects of heavy metals in the underlying biocrusts. Methods: We used the BCR sequential extraction procedure to analyze the speciation of heavy metals in the underlying biocrust layer (moss crusts, mixed crusts (moss + algal), and algal crusts). The risk assessment code (RAC) and potential ecological risk index (Er) were used to evaluate the impact of biocrusts on the ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in soil. Results: The results showed that (1) well-developed biocrusts had a strong ability to enrich heavy metals, with these metals accumulating at the surface; (2) biocrust growth facilitated the conversion of heavy metals from an inert state to an active form in the underlying layer, enhancing their bioavailability; (3) Spearman's correlation and redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed the total amount of heavy metals as the primary factor driving the translocation of soil heavy metals, with soil pH, cationic exchange capacity (CEC) and organic matter content (SOM) exerting varying influences; (4) the comprehensive potential ecological risk index indicated that heavy metals in gold tailings at the strong risk levels, mainly due to arsenic exceeded the standard (~ 7 × background values). However, biocrusts reduced the Er of heavy metals in the underlying layer. The RAC results indicated low mobility and bioavailability of heavy metals in the underlying layer, associated with low ecological risk. Conclusions: As the 'skin' of soil, biocrusts could protect soil from heavy metal contamination. Despite enhancing heavy metal bioavailability, their enrichment effect was much greater than their activation effect. As a result, biocrusts hold great promise for remediating heavy metal pollution in degraded ecosystems. Background: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is one of the main causes of liver cancer and imposes an enormous social and economic burden. The blood-borne virus screening policy for preventing iatrogenic infections renders hospitals important for identifying individuals infected with hepatitis C. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the establishment of a multi-disciplinary cooperation model in medical institutions to leverage the screening results of patients with hepatitis C. Our objective is to ensure that patients receive timely and effective diagnosis and treatment, thereby enabling the elimination of hepatitis C by 2030. Method: A multi-disciplinary cooperation model was established in October 2021. This retrospective study was based on the establishment of antibody-positive and HCV RNA-positive patient databases. A Chi-square test was used to compare the HCV RNA confirmation rate in anti-HCV-positive patients, as well as the hepatitis C diagnosis rate and treatment rate in RNA-positive patients before and after the multi-disciplinary cooperation. A multivariable logistic regression was used to analyse the factors affecting the treatment of patients with hepatitis C. In addition, we examined changes in the level of hepatitis C knowledge among medical staff. Results: After the implementation of the multi-disciplinary cooperation model, the RNA confirmation rate of hepatitis C antibody-positive patients increased from 36.426% to 88.737%, the diagnostic accuracy rate of RNA-positive patients increased from 67.456% to 98.113%, and the treatment rate of patients with hepatitis C increased from 12.426% to 58.491%. Significant improvements were observed among the clinicians regarding their ability to understand the characteristics of hepatitis C (93.711% vs. 58.861%), identify people at high risk (94.340% vs. 53.797%), manage patients with hepatitis C after diagnosis (88.679% vs. 67.089%), and effectively treat hepatitis C (84.277% vs. 51.899%). Multi-disciplinary cooperation in medical institutions was the most important factor for patients to undergo HCV treatment (odds ratio: 0.024, 95% confidence interval: 0.007–0.074). Conclusions: This study showed that the use of a multi-disciplinary cooperation model to utilise the results of HCV antibody screening fully in patients through further tracking, referral, and treatment may facilitate the detection and treatment of patients with hepatitis C and accelerate the elimination of HCV in China. Background: As malaria continues to be a significant global public health concern, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa, Chinese workers in Africa are at increased risk of malaria. The effectiveness of malaria prevention measures implemented by Chinese companies and workers is a question that may correlate with the malaria infection rate in this population. This study explored the use and effectiveness of malaria prevention measures for Chinese employees in West Africa to provide a reference for companies and individuals on improving malaria prevention and control. Methods: Using a cross-sectional approach, we surveyed 256 participants in 2021, mainly from Nigeria, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Senegal in West Africa. The survey duration is from July to the end of September 2021. We selected two companies from the 2020 ENR "World's Largest 250 International Contractors" list, which featured 6 Chinese companies, all of which are state-owned and have a 61.9% market share in Africa. The participants were Chinese workers with more than a year of work experience in construction companies in Africa. A 20-minute WeChat-based structured online questionnaire was used to obtain information on malaria infection status and malaria prevention measures. Descriptive statistical analysis, chi-square test, principal components analysis, and ordinal logistic regression analysis are used to analyze the data obtained. The difference in Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: Ninety six (37.5%) participants contracted malaria more than once within a year. The principal components analysis found a low correlation between public and individual preventive measures. No significant correlation was found between public preventive measures and malaria infection (p > 0.05), while standardized use of mosquito nets (P = 0.016) and pesticide spraying (P = 0.047) contributed significantly to fewer malaria infections at the individual level, but the removal of vegetation around houses (P = 0.028) at the individual level related to higher malaria infection. Conclusions: In our sample of Chinese construction workers going to Africa, some individual preventive measures had a stronger association with malaria prevention than a variety of public environmental measures. Furthermore, individual and public preventive measures were not associated with each other. Both of these findings are surprising and require further investigation in larger and more diverse samples. Current research on group decision making (GDM) focuses on how to quickly reach a consensus, in which decision makers' opinions are mainly changed by feedback suggestion, not by changing circumstances over time. In a long-term GDM problem, decision-makers may be affected by the environment to change their views. For example, real estate market prices will affect residents' opinions in time-consuming demolition negotiations. We introduce time uncertainty to study the long-term GDM problem with random opinions following this idea. This article constructs the minimum cost and maximum utility-based consensus models in GDM with random opinion based on the time uncertainty. The optimal time of decision-making can be determined. Specifically, the real options theory is employed to study time uncertainty. Furthermore, the feasibility of the models is verified by case analysis of China's demolition negotiation for old communities' renewal projects, and sensitivity analyses are developed to analyse the robustness of our models. Background: Cooperation between China and Africa is deepening, and business, trade, and people-to-people exchanges are growing closer together, especially in the infrastructure construction field. At the same time, malaria has become a serious health concern for Chinese construction workers in Africa, who are at increased risk of infection and complications due to lack of immunity and exposure to high-transmission environments. One of the biggest challenges in fighting malaria is their lack of knowledge and misinterpretations about the disease, which can impact their need for interventions, adherence to treatments, and health services. This study aims to determine the perception and interpretation of malaria among Chinese construction workers in sub-Saharan Africa. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 Chinese construction workers in sub-Saharan Africa. Some early respondents initially made contact through two Chinese construction companies in Africa, while the rest of the participants were engaged via a snowball method by the early participants. NVivo10, a qualitative research data management software and a thematic approach, was used to analyze the data and create themes. In order to achieve the general study goals, an inductive content analysis was applied. Results: The study classified participants' perceptions and interpretations of malaria into four categories: flu-like malaria, the rumors of malaria, the hard-to-explain confusion about malaria, and the special interpretation of malaria. Conclusion: Malaria poses major health issues to Chinese construction workers in sub-Saharan Africa who lack immunity and live in an environment of high transmission. Their dearth of awareness and misunderstanding of malaria impacts their prevention and treatment behaviors and health outcomes. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major threat to public health worldwide. The relationship between CVD and temperature has been widely reported in developed countries and regions. However, there are few studies of severe CVD in poor rural areas of developing countries. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the relationship between CVD and apparent temperature (AT) in a rural area of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, China. Daily CVD admission data and meteorological data were collected from Linxia between 2014 and 2015. The media of AT was used as the reference temperature to estimate the cumulative relative risk (RR) of CVD admission. The distributed lag non-linear models were used to examine the association between AT and cumulative RR of CVD admission at lag 0–21 days. In Linxia, high AT (20 °C) had a persistent adverse effect on cumulative RR of CVD admissions, and the RR increased with increasing lag days. Cold (− 10 °C) had a protective effect on the first and later lag days (lag 0–14 and lag 0–21). Adults (aged < 65 years) and females were more susceptible to the effects of heat than males and the elderly (aged ≥ 65 years). The effect of ambient temperature on relative risk (RR) of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is different in China than in other countries due to the different geographical environment, climate the different inter- and intra-individual characteristics of the population within China. It is therefore important to integrate information to evaluate the impact of temperature on RR of CVD in China. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of temperature on RR of CVD. The Web of Science, Google Scholar, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases were searched back to 2022 and nine studies were included in the study. The Cochran Q test and I2 statistics were used to assess heterogeneity, while Egger's test was used to assess publication bias. The pooled estimated size of the relationship between ambient temperature and CVD hospitalization in the random effect model was 1.2044 (95%CI: 1.0610—1.3671) for the cold effect and 1.1982 (95%CI: 1.0166—1.4122) for the heat effect. The Egger's test showed a potential publication bias for the cold effect, whereas there was no apparent publication bias for the heat effect. There is a significant effect of ambient temperature on RR of CVD for both the cold effect and heat effect. The effect of socioeconomic factors should be considered more thoroughly in future studies. To increase the utilization of redundant soil generated during construction waste treatment, cement and lime are used as solidification components to produce high flow mixture. The effects of lime content on the working performance and comprehensive strength of the mixture were studied, and the performance changes of the mixture under dry wet cycle and freeze-thaw cycle were studied. The results show that with the increase of lime content, the water demand of the mixture increases and the compressive strength increases; The bleeding rate of the mixture is between 2%~3%, and the work-ability is good; After the dry wet cycle, the compressive strength of the mixture is improved and the durability is good; The recycled fluid mixture makes full use of the low-quality materials produced by construction waste and improves the utilization level of solid waste. Alzheimer's disease (AD) features the loss of cholinergic neurons in the mesopontine area. There is no available approach to repair the damaged cholinergic neurons. Neural stem cell (NSC)‐based therapy is a promising strategy for the treatment of AD. However, it is a challenge to direct the NSCs to specifically differentiate into cholinergic neurons. Herein, calcium folate (CaFO) nanoparticles are synthesized through a facile nanoprecipitation approach for promoting the differentiation of NSCs into functional cholinergic neurons. After uptake by NSCs, the CaFO nanoparticles are distributed in the lysosomes (pH< 5.5) and can be decomposed into Ca2+ and folic acid in the acidic environment. The Ca2+ can accelerate the differentiation rate of NSCs while the folic acid can direct the NSCs to differentiate into cholinergic neurons. The in vitro experiments demonstrate that under the stimulation of CaFO nanoparticles, the NSCs differentiate into functional cholinergic neurons within 5 d. Animal experiments prove that the CaFO nanoparticles also promote the neuronal differentiation of NSCs in vivo, leading to the improvement in the cognitive memory ability of AD mice. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play important roles in organisms and are closely related to various physiological and pathological processes. Due to the short lifetime and easy transformation of ROS, the determination of ROS content in biosystem has always been a challenging task. Chemiluminescence (CL) analysis has been widely used in the detection of ROS due to its advantages of high sensitivity, good selectivity and no background signal, among which nanomaterial-related CL probes are rapidly developing. In this review, the roles of nanomaterials in CL systems are summarized, mainly including their roles as catalysts, emitters, and carriers. The nanomaterial-based CL probes for biosensing and bioimaging of ROS developed in the past five years are reviewed. We expect that this review will provide guidance for the design and development of nanomaterial-based CL probes and facilitate the wider application of CL analysis in ROS sensing and imaging in biological systems. Background: Plant hemoglobin shows great potential as a food additive to circumvent the controversy of using animal materials. Microbial fermentation with engineered microorganisms is considered as a promising strategy for sustainable production of hemoglobin. As an endotoxin-free and GRAS (generally regarded as safe) bacterium, Corynebacterium glutamicum is an attractive host for hemoglobin biosynthesis. Results: Herein, C. glutamicum was engineered to efficiently produce plant hemoglobin. Hemoglobin genes from different sources including soybean and maize were selected and subjected to codon optimization. Interestingly, some candidates optimized for the codon usage bias of Escherichia coli outperformed those for C. glutamicum regarding the heterologous expression in C. glutamicum. Then, saturated synonymous mutation of the N-terminal coding sequences of hemoglobin genes and fluorescence-based high-throughput screening produced variants with 1.66- to 3.45-fold increase in hemoglobin expression level. To avoid the use of toxic inducers, such as isopropyl-β-d-thiogalactopyranoside, two native inducible expression systems based on food additives propionate and gluconate were developed. Promoter engineering improved the hemoglobin expression level by 2.2- to 12.2-fold. Combination of these strategies and plasmid copy number modification allowed intracellular production of hemoglobin up to approximately 20% of total protein. Transcriptome and proteome analyses of the hemoglobin-producing strain revealed the cellular response to excess hemoglobin accumulation. Several genes were identified as potential targets for further enhancing hemoglobin production. Conclusions: In this study, production of plant hemoglobin in C. glutamicum was systematically engineered by combining codon optimization, promoter engineering, plasmid copy number modification, and multi-omics-guided novel target discovery. Background: A new two-piece abutment design consisting of an upper prosthetic component and tissue-level base has been introduced; however, the biomechanical behavior of such a design has not been documented. This study aimed to investigate the effect of a two-piece abutment design on the stress in the implant components and surrounding bone, as well as its influence on microgap formation. Methods: To simulate the implant models in the mandibular left first molar area, we established nine experimental groups that included three bone qualities (type II, III, and IV) and three implant–abutment designs (internal bone level, tissue level, and a two-piece design). After the screw was preloaded, the maximum occlusal (600 N) and masticatory (225 N) forces were established. Finite element analysis was performed to analyze the maximum and minimum principal stresses on the peri-implant bone; the von Mises stresses in the implants, abutments, bases, and screws, and the microgaps at the implant–abutment, implant–base, and base–abutment interfaces. Results: For all three loading methods, the two-piece abutment design and bone-level connection exhibited similarities in the maximum and minimum principal stresses in the peri-implant bone. The von Mises stresses in both screws and bases were greater for the two-piece design than for the other connection types. The smallest microgap was detected in the tissue-level connection; the largest was observed at the implant–base interface in the two-piece design. Conclusions: The present study found no evidence that the abutment design exerts a significant effect on peri-implant bone stress. However, the mechanical effects associated with the base and screws should be noted when using a two-piece abutment design. A 20-minute WeChat-based structured online questionnaire was used to obtain information on malaria infection status and malaria prevention measures. Descriptive statistical analysis, chi-square test, principal components analysis, and ordinal logistic regression analysis are used to analyze the data obtained. The difference in Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: Ninety six (37.5%) participants contracted malaria more than once within a year. The principal components analysis found a low correlation between public and individual preventive measures. No significant correlation was found between public preventive measures and malaria infection (p > 0.05), while standardized use of mosquito nets (P = 0.016) and pesticide spraying (P = 0.047) contributed significantly to fewer malaria infections at the individual level, but the removal of vegetation around houses (P = 0.028) at the individual level related to higher malaria infection. Conclusions: In our sample of Chinese construction workers going to Africa, some individual preventive measures had a stronger association with malaria prevention than a variety of public environmental measures. Furthermore, individual and public preventive measures were not associated with each other. Both of these findings are surprising and require further investigation in larger and more diverse samples. Background: 5-Aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) is a promising biostimulant, feed nutrient, and photodynamic drug with wide applications in modern agriculture and therapy. Although microbial production of 5-ALA has been improved realized by using metabolic engineering strategies during the past few years, there is still a gap between the present production level and the requirement of industrialization. Results: In this study, pathway, protein, and cellular engineering strategies were systematically employed to construct an industrially competitive 5-ALA producing Escherichia coli. Pathways involved in precursor supply and product degradation were regulated by gene overexpression and synthetic sRNA-based repression to channel metabolic flux to 5-ALA biosynthesis. 5-ALA synthase was rationally engineered to release the inhibition of heme and improve the catalytic activity. 5-ALA transport and antioxidant defense systems were targeted to enhance cellular tolerance to intra- and extra-cellular 5-ALA. The final engineered strain produced 30.7 g/L of 5-ALA in bioreactors with a productivity of 1.02 g/L/h and a yield of 0.532 mol/mol glucose, represent a new record of 5-ALA bioproduction. Conclusions: An industrially competitive 5-ALA producing E. coli strain was constructed with the metabolic engineering strategies at multiple layers (protein, pathway, and cellular engineering), and the strategies here can be useful for developing industrial-strength strains for biomanufacturing. Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is a widely used organophosphorus pesticide. Increasing evidence has shown that exposure to CPF in early life might induce neurodevelopmental disorders, but the pathogenesis remains uncertain. Synaptic plasticity plays a crucial role in neurodevelopment. This study aimed to investigate the effect of CPF on synaptic plasticity in hippocampal neurons and establish the cellular mechanism underlying these effects. Using CPF-exposed rat and primary hippocampal neurons model, we analyzed the impact of CPF on the synaptic morphology, the expression level of a presynaptic protein, a postsynaptic protein and ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs), as well as the effects on the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. We found that the synapses were shortened, the spines were decreased, and the expression of synaptophysin (Syp), postsynaptic density-95 (PSD-95), GluN1, GluA1 and Wnt7a, as well as active β-catenin in primary hippocampal neurons was decreased. Our study suggests that CPF exposure induced dysregulation of synaptic plasticity in rat hippocampal neurons, which might provide novel information regarding the mechanism of CPF-induced neurodevelopmental disorders. Background: To retrospectively characterize the clinical characteristics and efficacy of total hip arthroplasty and the important factors needing attention in hypophosphatemic osteomalacia (HO) patients with hip involvement. Patients and methods: We performed a review of seven patients (two women and five men) referred to our clinic with a final diagnosis of HO who received total hip arthroplasty between 2010 and 2018. Five patients (Group 1) received proper medical management with or without aetiologic therapy, while the other two patients (Group 2) did not receive due to misdiagnosis. The mean follow-up duration was 5.1 ± 2.0 years. Results: The patients in Group 1 had significant relief of pain and improved laboratory results. The mean Harris Hip Score of Group 1 increased from 44.2 ± 6.0 to 94.0 ± 3.0, and the mean VAS score decreased from 8.8 ± 0.4 to 1.8 ± 0.7. However, the progressive extensive pain score in Group 2 had no obvious improvement, with the Harris Hip Score increasing from 45.5 ± 0.5 to 60 ± 28.0 and the VAS score decreasing from 9.0 ± 1.0 to 6.5 ± 2.5. Conclusion: THA appears to be an effective method for hip arthritis or joint deformities resulting from hypophosphatemic osteomalacia. A satisfactory outcome of the surgery depends on the early etiological identification, the treatment of hypophosphatemia, a careful operation, and the operative strategies, as well as proper medical treatment. It is researched on the carbon dioxide emission and carbon reduction pathway of dry-mixed mortars, by researching the actual production data of a dry mixed mortar factory and its preliminary research and implementation results in carbon emission reduction, combining with relevant literature as well as statistics of Chinese dry-mixed industry. The carbon dioxide emissions of ordinary cementious dry-mixed mortars, special cementious dry-mixed mortars, water-resistant putty and plastering gypsum is respectively 141,297,274,and 126kgCO2/t by life-circle assessments, and the main factors is respectively cement (65%),cement (74%), calcium hydroxide (71%), building plaster and its transportation (49%). The carbon dioxide emissions of dry-mixed mortars production and its transportation is small; as for ordinary and special dry-mixed mortars it is respectively about 12.5 and 20 kgCO2/t. The carbon dioxide emissions of Chinese dry-mixed mortars industry in 2020 is about 2.9 million tons. Annual carbon dioxide emission reduction of this dry-mixed mortars factory is about 100 000 tons in 2020 by adopting a variety of carbon reduction pathway. The metal doping at the Pb2+ position provides improved luminescence performance for the cesium lead halide perovskites, and their fabrication methods assisted by microwave have attracted considerable attention due to the advantages of fast heating and low energy consumption. However, the postsynthetic doping strategy of the metal-doped perovskites driven by microwave heating still lacks systematic research. In this study, the assembly of CsPbBr3/CsPb2Br5 with a strong fluorescence peak at 523 nm is used as the CsPbBr3 precursor, and through the optimization of the postsynthetic conditions such as reaction temperatures, Mn2+/Pb2+ feeding ratios, and Mn2+ sources, the optimum Mn2+-doped product (CsPb(Cl/Br)3:Mn) is achieved. The exciton fluorescence peak of CsPb(Cl/Br)3:Mn is blueshifted to 437 nm, and an obvious fluorescence peak attributing to the doped Mn2+ ions at 597 nm is obtained. Both the CsPbBr3 precursor and CsPb(Cl/Br)3:Mn have high PLQY and stability because there are CsPb2Br5 microcubic crystals to well disperse and embed the CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) in the precursor, and after Mn2+-doping, this structure is maintained to form CsPb(Cl/Br)3:Mn NCs on the surface of their microcrystals. The exploration of preparation parameters in the microwave-assisted method provides insights into the enhanced color-tunable luminescence of the metal-doped perovskite materials. Broca's area is composed of the pars opercularis (PO) and the pars triangularis (PTR) of the inferior frontal gyrus; the anterior ascending ramus of the lateral sulcus (aals) separates the PO from the PTR, and the horizontal ascending ramus of the lateral sulcus (hals) separates the PTR from the pars orbitalis. The morphometry of these two sulci maybe has potential effects on the various functions of Broca's area. Exploring the morphological variations, hemispheric differences and sex differences of these two sulci contributed to a better localization of Broca's area. BrainVISA was used to reconstruct and parameterize these two sulci based on data from 3D MR images of 90 healthy right-handed subjects. The 3D anatomic morphologies of these two sulci were investigated using 4 sulcal parameters: average depth (AD), average width (AW), outer length (OL) and inner length (IL). The aals and hals could be identified in 98.89% and 98.33%, respectively, of the hemispheres evaluated. The morphological patterns of these two sulci were categorized into four typical types. There were no statistically significant interhemispheric or sex differences in the frequency of the morphological patterns. There was statistically significant interhemispheric difference in the IL of the aals. Significant sex differences were found in the AD and the IL of the aals and OL of the hals. Our results not only provide a structural basis for functional studies related to Broca's area but also are helpful in determining the precise position of Broca's area in neurosurgery. An electrochemical sensor based on carbon quantum dots@hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets nanocomposites (CQDs@HBNNS‐NCs) and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was proposed for the triclosan (TCS) analysis. The CQDs@HBNNS‐NCs were utilized as the modifier, which exhibited excellent electrochemical properties. The MIP film was prepared in situ in the presence of template (TCS) and monomer (o‐phenylenediamine) to provide the specific molecular recognition. The CQDs@HBNNS‐NCs were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Under the optimal conditions, the current response was linear with the logarithmic value of TCS concentration in the range of 2 nM–0.1 mM, and the limit of detection (LOD) was calculated as 0.005 μM (S/N=3). Furthermore, the proposed electrochemical sensor showed favorable selectivity, stability, and was used for the TCS analysis in tap water samples with decent accuracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Limited qualitative studies exist on nurses' experience in terms of communicating with and caring for patients with endemic diseases. The purpose of this study was to describe the working experiences of nurses caring for Tibetan patients with Kashin–Beck disease in China. Method: A qualitative design was used in this study. Sixteen nurses who worked in the orthopedics department of a large tertiary general hospital in Wuhan, China, constituting a purposive sample, were interviewed face-to-face using semi-structured guided questions. Results: Three major themes and nine subthemes were identified. Major themes included the challenge in cross-cultural nursing, stress adjustment in cross-cultural nursing, and reshaping competencies in cross-cultural nursing. Discussion: This study revealed that nurses encountered multifaceted challenges when caring for Tibetan patients with Kashin–Beck disease. In a multiethnic society, communication and language skills, cultural competency and cultural sensitivity, and diverse training methods to improve cross-cultural knowledge could increase ethnic minority patient satisfaction with cross-cultural care. Polyion complex (PIC) vesicles have attracted considerable attention as soft yet functional delivery vehicles. However, most of the PIC vesicles suffer from insufficient stability and functionality which hinder their applications. Herein, a new type of PIC vesicles obtained by co‐assembly of neutral‐cationic diblock copolymers with a supramolecular coordination polyelectrolyte is reported. The latter exhibits tunable structures and properties that endows regulated stability and functionalities of the vesicles. With lanthanide‐based coordination polymers, PIC vesicles are constructed with not only enhanced stability against salt, but also tunable fluorescent or magnetic properties associated with particular Ln3+ ions. Moreover, the vesicle lumen is applied to load PEGlated indocyanine green as a model photothermal transduction agent. The designed vesicles finally display high stability, good biocompatibility, and efficient photothermal conversion, and therefore behave well for thermal ablation of both tumor cells and tumor in mice. The well‐regulated stability and functions of the PIC vesicles are assigned the adaptive structure and properties of the supramolecular coordination polyelectrolytes, which hardly be achieved with conventional covalent polyelectrolytes. This study therefore demonstrates a facile strategy to regulate the stability and function of PIC vesicles, and shall be inspirational for developing novel vesicular materials for potential biomedical applications. Climate change is increasing the incidence of extreme weather events which have a significant impact on public health. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the number one cause of death globally (40%). Apparent temperature (AT) and diurnal temperature range (DTR) have been extensively used to evaluate the effects of temperature on cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, the relevant information is quite limited from analysis and comparison of effects and differing pathogenesis of DTR and AT on CVD especially in less-developed, rural areas of China. This is the first attempt to analyze different effects between AT and DTR on CVD using distributed lag nonlinear modeling (DLNM) in rural area. Data on CVD hospital admission in Qingyang (Northwest China) in 2014–2017 originated from the New Rural Cooperative Medical System (NRCMS) of Gansu Province, and meteorological variables were provided by the Meteorological Science Data Sharing Service. Both AT and DTR had significant nonlinear and delayed impacts on hospital admissions for CVD. DTR had a stronger and more persistent effect on CVD incidence than AT. Females were more affected by high AT and low DTR than were males, while males were more vulnerable to low AT and high DTR. Temperature effects were not significantly different between people above and below 65 years of age. These findings provide local public health authorities with reference concerning sensitive temperature indices for susceptible populations with a view to improve CVD preventive strategies in rural areas. Growing evidence indicates that postnatal immune activation (PIA) can adversely increase the lifetime risk for several neuropsychiatric disorders, including anxiety and depression, which involve the activation of glial cells and early neural developmental events. Several glia-targeted agents are required to protect neonates. Folic acid (FA), a clinical medication used during pregnancy, has been reported to have neuroprotective properties. However, the effects and mechanisms of FA in PIA-induced neonatal encephalitis and mood disorders remain unclear. Here, we investigated the roles of FA in a mouse model of PIA, and found that FA treatment improved depressive- and anxiety-like behaviors in adults, accompanied by a decrease in the number of activated microglia and astrocytes, as well as a reduction in the inflammatory response in the cortex and hippocampus of neonatal mice. Furthermore, we offer new evidence describing the functional differences in FA between microglia and astrocytes. Our data show that epigenetic regulation plays an essential role in FA-treated glial cells following PIA stimulation. In astrocytes, FA promoted the expression of IL-10 by decreasing the level of EZH2-mediated H3K27me3 at its promoter, whereas FA promoted the expression of IL-13 by reducing the promoter binding of H3K9me3 mediated by KDM4A in microglia. Importantly, FA specifically regulated the expression level of BDNF in astrocytes through H3K27me3. Overall, our data supported that FA may be an effective treatment for reducing mood disorders induced by PIA, and we also demonstrated significant functional differences in FA between the two cell types following PIA stimulation. Meta-hologram constitutes one of the most promising technologies for holographic imaging. However, most studies in the field of meta-hologram focus on the full space wavefront tailoring generated by phase gradient from unit cells in multilayer dielectric cascaded structure. In this letter, a full space monolayer meta-hologram is designed, fabricated and measured, which provides two different information channels in the regions where electromagnetic waves are transmitted and reflected. The proposed coding meta-atom is composed of a cross-shaped patch structure and a slot formed by two merged rectangles, placed on the two sides of a dielectric substrate. By tuning geometrical parameters of the patch and slot structures, 1-bit phase and amplitude modulation can be individually achieved under different linear polarization of incident waves. As a proof-of-concept, a single-layered full space meta-hologram is numerically and experimentally demonstrated. Results show that the different hologram images in the transmission and reflection modes can be independently controlled at the same frequency by orthogonally linearly polarized waves. Due to easy fabrication and unprecedented miniaturization capability, the proposed full space coding meta-hologram extends the route to broad prospects for data storage, information processing, resource saving and other imaging applications. Aim: To explore the experiences of patients with cancers in hospitals during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Design: A qualitative research study. Methods: Using a phenomenological approach, we enrolled 22 patients with cancers in the Hunan Cancer Hospital from 20 February 2020 to 10 April 2020. The interviews were conducted face‐to‐face and were analysed by Colaizzi's 7‐step method. This study aligns with the COREQ checklist. Results: The experiences of patients with cancers in hospitals during the COVID‐19 pandemic can be categorized into four major themes: (1) emotional changes; (2) delays in visiting hospital; (3) barriers to accessing medical care services, and (4) inconvenience related to logistics services. Background: There are increasing Chinese migrants in sub-Saharan Africa currently. Most of them are engaged in infrastructure construction. Research has shown that they stay at particular risk of HIV and are recommended for HIV testing. However, their HIV testing behavior, and its relevant factors, have not been researched among them by now. This study describes the recent HIV testing behavior and relevant factors among Chinese migrant workers in Kenya.Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 110 male Chinese workers from six different Chinese infrastructure construction enterprises in Kenya. Furthermore, a two-stage cluster random sampling method was used to select participants. We used a questionnaire that included HIV testing history, demographic characteristics, and putative multilevel facilitators of HIV testing. Logistic regression was used to explore the predictors of recent HIV testing behavior among Chinese migrant workers in Kenya.Result: Of the 110 participants, 30 (27.27%) were tested for HIV in the recent year. All participants were male, and the majority were married (73.2%). The mean age was 37.49 years (SD = 9.73; range: 23 to 63), and a considerable proportion refused to answer questions about transactional sexual behaviors in the last year. Most were able to obtain HIV-related information (91.8%) and were exposed to HIV-related information in the last year (68.2%), but only 47.6% had sufficient HIV knowledge. Nearly one-fifth of them believed that selling sex and paying for sex is acceptable. Multiple logistic regression analysis indicated that participants who could accept the 'pay for sex' (OR: 2.74; 95% CI: 1.02, 7.36) and exposed to HIV related information (OR: 4.75; 95% CI: 1.29, 17.44) were more likely to test for HIV in the recent 1 year.Conclusion: Higher current HIV test rates were associated with a more open sexual attitude towards paying for sex and being exposed to HIV-related information in the last year among Chinese workers in Kenya. The last 50 years have witnessed ecolinguistics come into bloom as a mature domain. This paper aims to examine the half-century development of ecolinguistics by reviewing its backgrounds, definitions, strands, and approaches, and also briefly previewing its future horizons. The birth of ecolinguistics can be attributed to such ecological necessities as the ecological crisis as an essential root, and an ecological perspective for linguistics as a linguistic necessity, together with six ecolinguistic turns in this domain (Section 2). Since the emergence of ecolinguistics in the 1970s, various definitions for ecolinguistics as an evolving concept have come into being, involving the geographical, conceptual, disciplinary, methodological, and practical sides (Section 3). Figures who have contributed to the development of this domain can be divided into old strands like Haugenian and Hallidayan ecolinguistics, as well as new strands such as strong ecolinguistics and the latest radical embodied ecolinguistics (Section 4). Given the diverse definitions and strands, a set of approaches have taken shape, ranging from the Haugenian approach to ecological discourse analysis (Section 5). Due to major problems found in reviewing four parts of ecolinguistics, it is high time three shifts in perspective be put into effect in ecolinguistics that can promise its future horizons. Degradation of flexible low-temperature poly-Si TFTs under dynamic bending stress is studied in controlled ambient of different kinds. It is demonstrated that synergistic effect of H2O vapor and O2 is the origin of the positive threshold voltage (${V}_{\text {th}}$) degradation of poly-Si TFTs under dynamic bending stress in the air ambient, while the dynamic bending stress alone does not cause any TFT degradation. The degradation is found to strongly depend on the ratio of O2 to H2O vapor in the ambient. A degradation model of “H2O and O2 assisted electron transport and capture” is proposed, which is based on the participation of both reactants in reactions with dangling bonds along the micro-/nano- cracks penetrating through the passivation layer into the active region of TFTs, formed under the dynamic bending stress. Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is one main cause of neonatal death and disability, causing substantial injury to white and gray matter, which can lead to severe neurobehavioral dysfunction, including intellectual disability and dyskinesia. Inflammation, nerve cell death, and white matter injury are important factors in the pathological process of HIE. 6-Gingerol is a ginger extract, which reduces inflammatory response and cell death. However, the role of 6-Gingerol in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury (HIBI) remains unknown. In this study, we constructed a mouse HIBI model and analyzed the protective effect of 6-Gingerol on HIBI by using behavioral tests, histological staining, qPCR and western blot. Here, we found that 6-Gingerol treatment could alleviate HIBI and improve short-term reflex performance, which is closely related to cell death and neuroinflammation. Additionally, 6-Gingerol reduced neuronal apoptosis, pro-inflammatory factor release, as well as microglial activation. Furthermore, 6-Gingerol significantly improved motor disability, which is associated with white matter damage. Thus, our results showed that 6-Gingerol could reduce the loss of myelin sheaths, alleviate cell death of oligodendrocytes, and stimulate the maturation of oligodendrocytes. In terms of mechanism, we found that 6-Gingerol decreased histone H3K27me3 levels, activated AKT pathway and inhibited the activation of ERK and NF-κB pathway at 3 days post-HIBI. Taken together, our data clearly indicate that 6-Gingerol plays a neuroprotective role against HIBI by epigenetic modification and regulation of AKT, ERK, and NF-κB pathways, inhibiting inflammatory responses and reducing cell death. Cysteine‐functionalized Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized by thiol‐ene click reaction and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), X‐ray diffraction spectrometry (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), specific surface area (BET) analysis and pore size distribution analysis. The obtained magnetic materials were employed as a magnetic solid phase extraction adsorbent combined with inductively coupled plasma‐atomic emission spectrometry (ICP‐AES) for determination of Cu2+. Several parameters affecting extraction efficiency, including eluent concentration, adsorption time, adsorbent amounts, and sample pH were investigated. Under the optimized conditions, the method was validated. Within the concentration range of 0.01–20 μg mL−1, The limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantification (LOQ) were determined to be 0.002 μg mL−1 and 0.007 μg mL−1, respectively. The adsorption percentage of Cu2+ ions remained above 87.0 % when the adsorption‐desorption data of Cu2+ ions through three cycles of the successive adsorption and desorption process. Purpose: Enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) can improve carotid circulation in patients with coronary artery disease. However, the response of carotid hemodynamic parameters induced by EECP in patients with high cardiovascular risk factors remains to be clarified. This study aimed to investigate the acute effect of EECP on the hemodynamic parameters in the carotid arteries before, during, and immediately after EECP in patients with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and type 2 diabetes. Methods: Eighty-three subjects were recruited into this study to receive 45-min EECP, including patients with simple hypertension (n = 21), hyperlipidemia (n = 23), type 2 diabetes (n = 18), and healthy subjects (n = 21). Hemodynamic parameters in both common carotid arteries (CCAs) were measured and calculated from Doppler ultrasound images. Peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV), mean inner diameter (ID), systolic/diastolic flow velocity ratio (VS/VD), flow rate (FR), and resistance index (RI) were monitored before, during, and immediately after 45-min EECP. Results: EDV and VS/VD were significantly reduced, while RI of CCAs was significantly increased among four groups during EECP (all P < 0.01). Additionally, the ID of CCAs and the FR of left CCA increased in patients with hyperlipidemia during EECP (P < 0.05). PSV of left CCA was reduced in patients with type 2 diabetes (P < 0.05). Moreover, immediately after EECP, ID was significantly higher in patients with hyperlipidemia. The RI of patients with hypertension and PSV and VS/VD of patients with type 2 diabetes were significantly lower compared with baseline (all P < 0.05). Conclusion: EECP created an acute reduction in EDV, PSV, and VS/VD, and an immediate increase in the RI, FR, and ID of CCAs among the four groups. Additionally, a single 45-min session of EECP produced immediate improvement in the ID of patients with hyperlipidemia, the RI of patients with hypertension, and the PSV and VS/VD of patients with type 2 diabetes. The different hemodynamic responses induced by EECP may provide theoretical guidance for making personalized plans in patients with different cardiovascular risk factors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The cleavage of C−O linkages in aryl ethers in biomass‐derived lignin compounds without hydrogenation of the aromatic rings is a major challenge for the production of sustainable mono‐aromatics. Conventional strategies over the heterogeneous metal catalysts require the addition of homogeneous base additives causing environmental problems. Herein, we propose a heterogeneous Ru/C catalyst modified by Br atoms for the selective direct cleavage of C−O bonds in diphenyl ether without hydrogenation of aromatic rings reaching the yield of benzene and phenol as high as 90.3 % and increased selectivity to mono‐aromatics (97.3 vs. 46.2 % for initial Ru) during depolymerization of lignin. Characterization of the catalyst indicates selective poisoning by Br of terrace sites over Ru nanoparticles, which are active in the hydrogenation of aromatic rings, while the defect sites on the edges and corners remain available and provide higher intrinsic activity in the C−O bond cleavage.
