This article is devoted to the study of the mechanism of containerboard sizing. As practice shows, AKD glue (alkyl ketenedimer dispersion) does not fully mature on a paper-making machine and the final sizing in paper and cardboard on the reel is not achieved. The rate of interaction of AKD glue with the hydroxyl groups of cellulose and water is low and, depending on the paper storage temperature, the process can take from several hours to several days. As a rule, after 2 weeks the manufacturer has the final result of sizing in the material, but more often the finished products do not remain in warehouses for a long time, but are sent to the consumer immediately after manufacture. In order to predict the expected level of hydrophobic properties of containerboard after the complete maturation of AKD glue, an express method has been used to determine the absorbency with one-sided wetting according to the Cobb method. This method involves heat treatment at a temperature of 105 ± 2 °C, after which the reaction of the AKD wax with the paper components is completed, and the absorbency of the paper no longer decreases. However, in real conditions of paper and cardboard storage, unfortunately, the results obtained by the express method do not always correspond to the actual absorbency. This is due to the fact that in reality paper and cardboard mature differently than during heat treatment. At the same time, in practice, the following problems with the absorbency are sometimes encountered by the end consumer: under- and over-maturation of AKD glue, as well as reversal of sizing. Therefore, it is important for the manufacturer to evaluate how the maturation of AKD glue occurs and how this process can be optimized and stabilized during storage. The conducted scientific research is aimed at predicting and regulation of the set of considered properties of containerboard and the container itself, which they will achieve after shipment to the consumer due to the long maturation process of the glue used for sizing, depending on the choice of chemical auxiliaries and their dosing options. The possibility of using an express method for determining the surface one-sided absorbency to predict a number of normalized physical and mechanical parameters of future containers is substantiated.

The article is devoted to the issue of using generative AI in the higher education system of the Russian Federation. The relevance of this issue is due to the avalanche-like growth in the use of generation by students and postgraduates in the 2023/24 academic year, the heated discussions that arose in this regard within universities, a series of publications in the media, the lack of development of the legal aspects of the use of generation, the ambiguity of its ethical grounds and consequences. The goal of the authors' collective is to formulate a collective position of teachers of classical humanitarian knowledge, which consists in the inadmissibility of using generative AI in the preparation of qualification and scientific papers. The work examines the regulatory aspects of the use of generation, conducts an experimental study of generative systems popular in the Russian-speaking space, and formulates a fundamental threat to subjectivity at the level of the individual and the collective, arising in connection with the use of generative AI. The general conclusion of the work is the need for careful legal and ethical regulation of the areas and methods of using generative systems in higher education.

Research objective. The main objectives of developing a module for automatic assessment of students’ papers based on the Russian grading scale system are:– Increased grading efficiency: the automatic system can process a larger number of papers in less time than a lecturer, reducing the time spent on checking;– Grading objectivity: the automated system is not subject to bias and other human factors, which ensures more objective grading of papers;– Standardization of grading: the automated system provides a uniform approach to grading, making it more transparent and comparable;– Reduced workload for lecturers: freeing lecturers from the routine work of checking papers allows them to devote more time to individual work with students.Materials and methods. Various methods can be used to develop a module for automatic assessment of students’ work, such as:Machine learning techniques: these techniques allow the module to learn from a set of examples where lecturers have already assessed students’ papers and automatically grade new papers.Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods: these methods allow the module to understand the meaning of text and evaluate it against given criteria.Expert systems methods: these methods allow the module to utilize the knowledge of experts in assessing students’ papers. For this project, we have chosen a combination of Levenshtein and Jaro index algorithms based on the method of assessing students’ knowledge in the Russian system.Results. The following main results were obtained in the course of this research. The module of automatic evaluation of student papers has been successfully developed and implemented on the basis of the Russian system of evaluation scales. Test evaluations of papers showed high accuracy of the module’s predictions and reliability of its work. Comparison of the module with manual assessment confirmed its ability to give comparable results. The module proved to be useful for lecturers, providing them with the ability to quickly and objectively assess students’ papers. Integration of the module with existing learning management systems facilitates its implementation in the educational environment. All the obtained results testify to the high efficiency and prospectivity of the developed module.Conclusion. As a result of this work, a module for automatic evaluation of students’ papers based on the Russian system of evaluation scales was developed and implemented. The main results of the work are that the module has been successfully tested and demonstrated high accuracy and reliability in the assessment of papers. The module has also demonstrated its usefulness for lecturers, providing them with an opportunity to quickly and objectively assess students’ papers. Due to its integration with existing learning management systems, the module can be easily implemented into the educational environment. In general, the results of the work confirm the effectiveness and prospects of using automatic assessment of students’ papers based on the Russian system of assessment scales.

At the Second All-Russian Congress on Psychoneurology in Petrograd (January 1924), Vygotsky delivered three papers. The first paper (“Methodology of Reflexological and Psychological Research”), was printed separately, but the text of the other two reports (“How Psychology Should Be Taught Now” and “Results of a Questionnaire on the Moods of Students of the Graduating Classes of the Gomel Schools in 1923”) has not survived. A brief account of these two reports, which appeared in the magazine Krasnaya Nov’ in 1924, is reprinted here for the first time. The author was the revolutionary M.I. Ginzburg (1877-1940), a researcher at the Moscow Psychological Institute in the mid-1920s. He wrote under the pseudonym G. Dayan. Ginzburg-Dayan was severely criticised in 1935 on charges of Trotskyism.

The paper presents detailed biostratigraphical division and lithological characteristics of the Turonian-Lower Santonian interval within the compiled Chukhonastovka section. The presence of the Lower Turonian deposits has been ascertained alongside with the unusual structure of the rock interval synchronous to the Lower Santonian “sponge” horizon.

This article presents the information on the valorization of waste generated during the production of tissue paper. The possibility of bioconversion of the polysaccharide part of paper sludge into simple sugars has been evaluated. The options for processing the paper sludge before enzymic hydrolysis to achieve the maximum yield of monosaccharides have been considered. Pretreatment with acids has been found to be a key step before the biocatalytic cleavage of waste polysaccharides. An additional yield of enzymic hydrolysis products after pretreatment with acids has been obtained by pre-extraction of the paper sludge with spirit or acetone. It has been established that the most intense enzymic hydrolysis of readily available fractions of the paper sludge takes place in the first 10–12 hours. Further, the process slows down, probably due to the action of the remaining components of the fillers, as well as an increase in the proportion of the difficult-to-hydrolyze polysaccharide part. In all cases, the proportion of absolutely dry non-hydrolyzed residue has been about 43±2 % of the dry matter of the paper sludge. The main products of enzymic hydrolysis have been glucose and xylose. The resulting sugars have been used for mixotrophic cultivation of the Tetradesmus obliquus and Chlorella vulgaris algae. Yeast strains have been selected for the conversion of monosaccharides from the paper sludge. In a series of experiments on non-sterile yeast cultivation, the Candida utilis PAL D and Debaryomyces hansenii SWING R cultures have turned out to be the most productive (within 2.10±0.14 g of air-dry yeast weight/dm3 per 24 hours). The degree of conversion of hydrolysate sugars has been 70±2 %. Most of the remaining sugars (about 80 %) have been represented by xylose. Complete utilization of the sugars has taken place on the 2nd day when having added an extra nitrogen source to the medium. On the other hand, the spent nutrient medium after yeast separation has been suitable for mixotrophic cultivation of microalgae. It has been revealed that the economic costs of pre-treatment of the paper sludge with nitric acid can be leveled by using the resulting salts as a nitrogen source for cultivating yeast. In doing so, the yield of yeast biomass increases by almost 2 times.

A representative complex of the Turonian-Santonian carbonate-producing invertebrates has been revealed. It comprised benthic foraminifers, diverse echinoderms, brachiopods, calcareous and siliceous sponges.

The widespread use of risograph printing in printing houses requires an increase in the speed of equipment while maintaining the printing quality of the original layouts. The problem of risograph printing is not always obtaining high-quality images, since the risographs used in the standard driver (periodic, non-periodic) do not always allow you to get the printed image the same as in the original. This is reflected in the insufficiency of parameters such as image clarity and sharpness. Problems of poor quality of risograph printing can be solved by changing the settings of the risograph driver for the original layout with additional use of digital filtering and image rasterization. This will require the creation of additional image rasterization methods to improve the initial indicators of the original layout in contrast, clarity, and the correctness of the transmission of halftone images and will improve the quality of printed images, as well as ensure the efficiency of the printing process for a wide range of original layouts.

This article explores the bureaucratic, legal and economic dimensions of the neonatal care. Drawing analytically on the neo-Weberian approach in the sociology of professions [Freidson 2001] and the anthropology of bureaucracy in medicine [Berg 1996; Berg & Bowker 1997], we propose to analyse the medical documents and the practices of its composition as both a constitutive element of medical practice and as organisational infrastructure that ensures the coordination of different professional groups and their interactions with patients. Specifically, we define this part of the work of doctors, nursing staff and health care managers in the context of neonatal resuscitation care as a process of creating and modifying a 'paper body' for their patients, i.e. all the document flow that accompanies the processes of treating and routing the patient. Empirically, the study relies on qualitative data collected within ‘the Birth of the Patient’ project: diaries of included observations of a neonatal intensive care physician, ethnographic observations by social researchers, focus groups with neonatal intensive care unit staff and interviews with medical professionals and healthcare managers. As a result of this data analysis, we find that the documentary history of the newborn patient is shaped by multiple negotiations between different medical professionals and representatives of different health care institutions. In some cases, the patient's 'paper body' turns out to be a major determinant of his or her future trajectory of (de)hospitalisation. We also find that the formation of such a documentary biography of a newborn patient does not directly correlate with his or her clinical condition, but reflects the complex system of distribution of material and non-material resources that constitute the newborn care service and in some cases goes beyond it.

High lipoprotein(a) (LP(a)) level contributes as an independent risk factor to the development of cardiovascular diseases of atherosclerotic origin. The article contains data on the structural features of this particle, the genetic determination of its metabolism and content in blood plasma, and the pathogenic mechanisms of its proatherogenic, proinflammatory and prothrombotic effects. The authors analyzed epidemiological data on the frequency of elevated LP(a) levels in different population groups and its association with the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The data presented concern the indicators of LP(a) as a risk factor for the development of ischemic stroke (including recurrent stroke) and its individual pathogenetic subtypes, as well as the relationship between LP(a) levels and functional outcomes after cerebral accidents. Current recommendations for the treatment of patients with elevated LP(a) levels in the context of primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases are analyzed.

Introduction and purpose A pilonidal cyst also known as a pilondial sinus, is an inflammatory condition that occurs in the intergluteal region, which can lead to serious infections. It most commonly affects young men, with risk factors including the presence of hair in this area, excessive sweating, obesity, and poor hygiene. Symptoms include a lump, pain, and purulent discharge from openings in the skin. Diagnosis involves taking a medical history, a physical examination, and often an ultrasound. The aim of this paper is to present and compare the available methods for treating pilonidal cysts. Materials and methods Literature available in PubMed databases were reviewed using the following keywords: ‘’Pilonidal cyst’’, ‘’Hair cyst’’, ‘’Abscess’’, ‘’Treatment of pilonidal cyst’’,’’ Bascom II method’’,’’ Limberg flap’’,’’ Suchorski technique’’, ‘’V-Y or Z skin flap reconstruction’’,’’ the Karadakis’’ Results The available treatment methods can be divided into conservative and invasive approaches. Conservative methods include hair removal and improved hygiene. Among the surgical methods, there are traditional excision techniques and modern methods such as excision using the Bascom II method, Limberg flap, Suchorski technique, or V-Y or Z skin flap reconstruction. The Karadakis method, which involves shifting a skin flap, is particularly effective for obese patients. Conclusion Treatment of pilonidal cysts depends on the stage and symptoms. Abscesses require urgent surgical intervention, while asymptomatic cysts can be treated conservatively or surgically.

The article introduces attraction marketing methods employed by Russian monthly popular science magazine Diletant. The authors compared the printed version and the website. The paper magazine attracts the reader mainly by the topic name printed on its cover as a unique creolized text. The further semantics of the front media text includes various aspects of the main topic. Color highlights both topical issue and regular features. The comparative analysis with the online version revealed some significant differences. The website has a muted color scheme and minimal animation; it contains neither video nor audio materials. Like in the printed version, the function of attraction belongs mainly to illustrations and subtitles. Online Diletant is interactive in navigation, tests, and surveys, which are, however, the only form of interactivity: the site does not provide comments, forums, “likes”, etc. Such limited use of attention-seeking tools makes the digital version of Diletant uncompetitive and inferior to its paper issue.

Relevance. At present, the problem of soil pollution with heavy metals, which are accumulated in the body of animals and plants, causing various toxic effects, is especially acute. Despite the existence of various methods of reclamation of disturbed lands, as a rule, their application is inefficient or expensive, especially when it comes to abnormally high concentrations of heavy metals. Thus, an extremely urgent task is to find effective and inexpensive ways to recultivate lands contaminated with high concentrations of heavy metals. The article considers one of the promising areas for the reclamation of such lands using a mixture obtained from the accumulated waste of lignin-containing sediments from the pulp and paper industry of Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill as sorbents. Aim. To study and evaluate the effectiveness of using a mixture, which includes frozen lignin-containing sediments of Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill, as heavy metal sorbent. Methods. To assess the sorption efficiency of the obtained sorbent from the frozen sediments of sludge-lignin, the samples of anomalously contaminated soils were taken from the industrial site of the former battery plant "Vostsibelement", located in Svirsk, Irkutsk region. To determine the surface structure of the obtained sorbent for the presence of micro-, meso-, and macropores, its surface was surveyed using a JEOL two-beam system. IR spectroscopy was used to establish the types of bonds between the sorbent and the extracted metals. Results. The studies have shown that the resulting sorbent from the frozen lignin-containing sediments of Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill has a porous structure with a predominance of mesopores, sorbing heavy metal ions, while a large number of micropores contributes to the occurrence of chemical sorption. The obtained IR spectra indicate the possibility of chemical sorption of lead as a result of the reaction of substitution of a hydrogen atom in various hydroxyl groups of the sorbent of the group of aromatic or carboxyl structures. At the same time, the resulting sorbent in terms of its sorption properties is not inferior to commercial natural sorbents – bentonite clay and grassroots peat. The conducted studies allow us to make a positive conclusion about the possibility of using the developed mixture as a sorbent for the immobilization of heavy metals during the reclamation of lands that are contaminated with high levels of heavy metals, including lead.

Real-world data and real-world evidence play an increasingly important role in clinical research and healthcare decisionmaking. To use data and generate robust evidence effectively, they must be clearly defined and structured, semantically compatible and harmonized among stakeholders. On June 30, 2023, the International Council on Harmonization (ICH) presented for discussion a reflection paper on “International Harmonisation of Real-World Evidence Terminology and Convergence of General Principles Regarding Planning and Reporting of Studies Using Real-World Data, with a Focus on Effectiveness of Medicines”, which outlines their approach to achieve international integration in this area. This article provides an overview of the key aspects of the strategic plan proposed by the ICH.

Introduction. Artificial intelligence technologies are increasingly finding way into various spheres of life. Academic research is no exception. In view of this, there is a need to study the independence (originality) of the thesis research, performed using a neural network, as the main criterion for its quality. Materials and Methods. The study, first of all, is based on the analysis and assessment of the opinions of various experts in the field of development of artificial intelligence systems, science and education. The study of different ways of conducting research in modern conditions was carried out using descriptive and comparative methods of scientific knowledge. Analysis. The study suggests an assessment of the fact that a work written with artificial intelligence technologies is recognized as an independently performed study. The opinions of various experts in the field of development of artificial intelligence systems, science and education are given. Various methods of conducting research in modern conditions are analyzed. Results. The authors believe that it is impossible to write an original study with a neural network, especially in the legal sphere, without active participation of a person. Since the originality of the study means conducting it for the first time using new methods, tools and obtaining new results and conclusions. A neural network (chat-GPT system) is not capable of creating new information (inventing something new) because it is based on texts that have been written by people before, and therefore it will not be able to conduct its own research. The final conclusion is made about the possibility of using an artificial intelligence system as a tool (means) to solve only standard problems (for example, checking errors, translating foreign literature, collecting generalized scientific material, designing work, etc.) in the process of writing a thesis.

Most paper mills in the Russian Federation consume around 40 % more electrical power than they actually require. The reasons are a low level of technical, scientific, and proficient assistance. Moreover, the produced goods have non-competitive consumption characteristics. The urgent current measures in this matter contain constructional and technological optimization, including drying temperature modes. The drying section of a paper machine is the most energy-consuming, while it significantly affects the mechanical strength and supplementary properties of the resulting paper goods with their structural and dimensional characteristics. Drying the paper web takes 72–77 % of the total energy of the paper machine. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the temperatures of the drying process on the strength and structural-dimensional properties of the paper, with the perspective for further application of the results in the practice of industrial companies and additional scientific investigation. The presented results show the influence of pulp type, beating degree, mass of 1 m2, and drying temperature on the strength and structural-dimensional properties of laboratory samples. Within the investigational process, laboratory samples from sulphate-bleached softwood and hardwood pulp were created and tested. The weights of the samples varied from 60 to 120 g/m2, and the beating degrees ranged from 20 to 50 °SR. The drying temperature extended from 80 to 140 °C. The analysis of the acquired paper samples revealed that the drying temperatures had a considerable impact on the strength, structure, and dimensional qualities of the material. Namely, while sulfate-bleached softwood and hardwood pulp types were used as a raw material, increasing the drying temperature from 80 to 140 °C had the greatest effect on the structural-dimensional properties of the paper made from a pulp with a higher beating degree and the greatest effect on the strength properties of the paper made from a pulp with a lower beating degree. The process of recycled pulp refining is usually associated with a significant change in the morphological characteristics of the secondary fiber and the formation of additional amounts of fines. It is well known that fines have a great impact on the pulp properties, the papermaking process and the quality of the resulting paper. At the same time, the effect of fines both on the paper properties and on the papermaking process depends on the morphological characteristics of the fines. The aim of the study was to evaluate the changes in the morphological characteristics of the fines during gentle low-consistency refining of the recycled pulp. The recycled pulp was obtained from commercial wet-strength tissue paper, consisting of 100 % bleached softwood kraft pulp (BSKP) made from pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). The repulping of wet-strength paper was performed at 60 °C in three ways, namely, repulping with sodium hydroxide (indicated as RP (NaOH)), repulping with sodium hydroxide and sodium persulfate (RP (NaOH + Na2S2O8)), and finally repulping with sodium hydroxide and potassium monopersulfate (RP (NaOH + KHSO5)). Using an optical fiber analyzer, L&W Fiber Tester, it was found that accelerated persulfate and monopersulfate repulping of the wet-strength paper led to an increase in fines content after pulp refining by 0.20…0.28 % on length and by 0.9…1.5 % on number of particles. In addition, some fines were not detected due to the limited resolution of the measuring device. The morphological characteristics of the recycled pulps showed that the studied fines were relatively straight particles (Sl = 93.5...94.0 %) with low length polydispersity ((Ll/Ln) = 1.08...1.09). Fines had a mean slenderness ratio (L/W)l and (L/W)w of about 7, which in some length classes reached 8...9. Taking into account the experimental data on fines length (Ll = 132…134 µm) and fiber width (Wl = 29.7…30.0 µm), as well as SEM images of recycled paper, we can conclude that these particles can form fines-assisted bridges between several close deposited fibers in the fiber network, thus strengthening the paper web. The article considers insufficiently studied problem of preservation underwater archaeology paper objects. The author shares good practical experience conservation and restoration of unique artefacts found by archaeologists on the merchant ship « Die Engiel Raphael » (Archangel Raphael) sanked almost 300 years ago. The main attention is focused on an integrated approach and consolidation of the efforts of restorers, underwater archaeologists and divers, researchers to determine the conservation method. In constant close collaboration with specialists from the workshop for graphics, books and documents conservation of the Grabar Art Conservation Center and of the Center for Underwater Research of the Russian Geographical Society has been developed a method for the conservation of four underwater archaeology paper objects. The article presents the results of research and restoration. Various techniques for drying, separating of cemented book-pages and ultrasonic cleaning for removing sandy-clay pieces, deeply embedded from the paper structure, are described. In developing main guidelines emphasized of conservation work for underwater artifacts, highlights the need for a special approach to each object and creation an individual program for restoration activities, taking into account its specifics. In forming the general basic principles of conservation of underwater artefacts, the necessity of a special approach to each object and drawing up an individual program of restoration measures, taking into account its specifics, is noted.

Introduction. Utilization of chemical cellulose fillers in construction industry is one of the ways of processing unused wastes from pulp and paper industry. Decorative, finishing, and heat insulation materials are widely used as construction materials. This paper proposes various compositions and insulation materials characterized by compressive strength of not less than 10 MPa, water tightness of 0.8, and density of not over 600 kg/m3. The likely curing mechanism is studied for cement systems. The possible mechanism of hardening structures formation in the systems is discussed. Methodology. Corrugated fibreboard МS-5B waste is used as a filler, high-early strength cement М-500 (CEM 47.5) – as inorganic binder, and elemental sulfur, polyethylene terephthalate, cementmodified polyurethane (PU) with the addition of nanosized silicon oxide are used as a polymeric matrix. Infrared spectroscopy, terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS), and scanning electron microscopy are used for investigations. Cement samples undergo compressive strength, water tightness and water absorption testing. Results and discussion. Physical and mechanical properties obtained for composites with the paper filler and polymeric matrix based on cement-modified PU, are described, and testing results are compared with the experimental data obtained for materials based on other binders. It is found that the paper filler–cement-modified PU composition is consistent with the purposes of this research. The understanding is improved for the curing mechanism of the polymeric matrix–paper filler system. The THz-TDS data demonstrate a correlation between the spectral transmission and thermal conductivity and density of synthesized heat insulation materials. Conclusion. Synthesized is the effective heat insulation material with relatively high compressive strength, low density, and high tightness to water. Scientific understanding of the curing mechanism is improved.

In 1921 Mellin published a Comptes Rendu paper computing the principal solution of a polynomial using generalized hypergeometric functions of its coefficients. He used an integral transform nowadays bearing his name. Slightly over three pages, the paper is written in French in a terse style befitting the language. This article makes Mellin’s landmark result accessible to people who are not experts in hypergeometric functions and complex analysis by deriving detailed proofs that were omitted in Mellin’s paper.

Printing companies play a central role in the exercise of general elections. However, there have been some issues in the number of printed ballot papers not relevant to the quantity requested by the General Election Commission, and this situation is considered election crime. Article 529 of Election Law implies that the printing company concerned may be subject to imprisonment or fines, but the legislation declares that a jail sentence cannot be imposed on the company. Departing from this issue, this research aims to analyze and find the ratio legis of criminalization of a printing company responsible for producing ballot papers for general elections. With a normative method and statutory, conceptual, and historical approaches, the research discovers that a lack of inaccuracy of drafters in the making of an academic draft on elections, where the drafters ruled out the notions of experts of criminal law and Supreme Court as delivered in a legislation-making session, seemingly gives Article 529 impunity. That is, the criminal sanction that should be imposed on a printing company following ballot paper manufacturing issues governed in Article 529 of Election Law does not guarantee any legal certainty and democratic general elections with integrity. The sanctions imposed on the company concerned should only be restricted to administrative measures like fines and no incarceration should be involved.

The article is devoted to the paper of Dagestan Arabic manuscripts and epistolary documents of the 19th — early 20th centuries, as an important aspect of source study. This work allows you to get an idea of the history of Russia’s cultural and economic ties with Dagestan and the countries of the East. In the course of the study, a comparative historical method was used. The authors analyzed the works of domestic and foreign experts on this issue, highlighted the main identification features of the paper of these written documents. The relevance of the ongoing research is due to the need for a comprehensive study of the writing material of the Arabographic monuments of Dagestan origin. The novelty of the work lies in the fact that the paper of these historical sources for the first time became the object of study in domestic source studies. It has been established that in the Dagestan manuscripts and epistolary documents of the 19th — early 20th centuries, the marked paper of Russian manufactories and factories is mainly represented. The article notes that for a full-fledged study of Dagestan Arabographic sources, it is necessary to use advanced digital technology and modern natural scientific developments. The study of historical sources paper is of great importance in the preservation and restoration of monuments of the written culture of the Dagestan peoples.

In accordance with the Concept of Student Sport Development in the Russian Federation until 2025, one of the priority directions is the improvement of scientific and methodological support of the subjects of the student sports system. In the context of scientific and methodological support of student sport it is significant not only to intensify research in this area, but also to match the direction of the research with the key tasks of student sport development. In order to form approaches for the development of the research studies taking into account priority directions of student sports development, the authors have carried out and systematized 8083 papers on student sport and physical education of students. The papers were published in scientific journals and materials of research conferences for the period from 2000 to 2022 and placed in scientific electronic library. Based on the results of the study, the authors identified key trends in the development of scientific research activities in the field of student sports. The authors formed a model of interaction between the department of physical education and other structural units and organizations to expand the directions of scientific research.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. Activated sludge is one of thepulp-and-paper industry waste types. Within the framework of the rational natural resources’ utilizationand the waste recycling, due to its composition, activated sludge could be subjected to certain technological solutions for the production of nanofertilizers, since it has been previously the basis for making of various soils and biological products. However,occasionally the composition of activated sludge may contain different toxic compounds, heavy metals, and their impact on soil fertility and plants vital state is profound. Thus, the purpose of our research is to study the effect of the activated sludge introductionas a basis for nanofertilizers on the heavy metals contentin podzolic soils of various granulometric composition in agricultural exploitation. Methods and materials. Research was conducted under the conditions of dummy experimentin vegetation vessels. We have used podzolic soils of various granulometric composition (clayey, loamy, sandy) and pulp-and-paper industry waste – activated sludge in concentrations of 1; 2.5; 5 and 10% of the dried soil weight. Determination of the heavy metals gross content has been carried out by the atomic absorption method with measurement on the AA-7000 spectrophotometer (Shimadzu, Japan); mobile fraction of heavy metalsdetermination (подвижныеформы) – utilizing acetate-ammonium buffer solution by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry methodology. Results and discussion. The paper presents the results of the research on mobileand gross forms of heavy metals in podzolic soil of various granulometric composition when applying activated sludge as the basis of organic nanofertilizer under the dummyexperiment. Conclusion. It was shown that the content of mobile and gross forms of the studied metals (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Ti, Al, Ni, Co, Cr, Cd and Mo) were within the health-based exposure limits, with the exception of Cd gross form, where the maximum excess was 2.5 MAC (maximum allowable concentration).

The prospects for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) are one of the most discussed topics in medicine today. The very possibility of having an omniscient virtual assistant at hand soon seems incredibly tempting, so it seems quite normally to see numerous reports on the application of each newly emerging advanced neural network technology in various fields of medicine and biotechnology. Of course, the emergence of ChatGPT caused the greatest public outcry in recent times, because the new natural language processing algorithm underlying it has allowed human to bring communication between man and machine to a whole new level. Of course, despite the myriad benefits of using AI, the use of ChatGPT and other AI tools in medicine raises many ethical and legal questions. However, it is worth remembering the history of the emergence of any other breakthrough technology to accept the existing controversy as an integral part of progress. The desire of a person to make his work easier and shift part of the work onto a computer always makes him take a step forward in the development of technologies, which, in the end, do not allow a person to work less, but make him work in a new way.

The relevance. The waste of Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill causes a real danger of a social and environmental disaster for Lake Baikal and the entire Southern Baikal region, therefore, the problem of developing integrated solutions for dumping the accumulation of lignin-containing waste is especially acute. One of the promising areas for processing this type of waste is the use of natural processes, for example, freezing in winter, temperature detection or self-overgrowth of the occurrence of natural succession. The main aim of the research is to develop an environmentally friendly technology for processing colloidal lignin-containing waste from the pulp and paper industry. Methods: pilot tests at the Solzan industrial site of Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill for freezing lignin-containing wastes and obtaining soils from them by mixing with additives; performing quantitative chemical analysis using the methods of atomic absorption and atomic emission spectrometry, high performance liquid chromatography, toxicological analysis. Results. Pilot tests have shown that after freezing, the colloidal structure of lignin-containing sediments is destroyed with a decrease in volume up to 40 %, humidity up to 60 %, and also with a decrease in toxicity – from the third (moderately hazardous) to the fourth (low hazardous) and fifth class (practically non-hazardous) of hazard of the waste depending on its composition. After freezing, the resulting sludge with the introduction of various additives (CHP ash, sewage treatment plant sludge) can be used as soil ground and fertilizers for reclamation of disturbed lands and crops. Thus, an environmentally friendly technology was developed for processing waste from the pulp and paper industry to obtain soil ground, which is low-energy and does not contain expensive imported equipment.

Background. The process of establishing the first federal state and its propagandistic design is of both theoretical and practical interest. Moreover, the Federalist papers is not an individual, but a collective work of major ideologists of the late 18th century. The purpose of the study is to trace not only the logic of the authors, but also random deviations from it in the heat of controversy and the implementation of the plan, as well as the most interesting fragments of the popularizers of the federalist idea – A. Hamilton, J. Madison, J. Jay. Materials and methods. The article uses the minimum necessary biographical data of American publicists, allowing them to give some socio-psychological assessments, as well as materials from all 85 articles. Methods of socio-political analysis and comparison are used. Results. The conducted study shows a more complex structure of articles than is commonly believed, going beyond the textbook important publications No. 10, 39, 51. The first articles clearly play the role of some kind of exposition – they show the geopolitical opportunities and dangers for the emerging country in its former, non-federal state. At the same time, Articles 18–20 outline the negative experience of past confederations. Starting with publication No. 23, a positive program is given: the possibilities of a common defense for all states, a tax system, and separation of powers are considered. There is a demand for the weakening of the legislative and strengthening of the executive power, the independence of the judiciary. The final articles reveal the details of the functioning of the future mechanism of the state. Conclusions. It is impossible to make an absolutely verified conclusion about the degree of impact on contemporaries of 85 articles published in New York newspapers in late 1787 – the first half of 1788, but given the high intensity and drama of the ratification campaigns in the country and the complexity of the situation in New York itself, it does not could be insignificant. Moreover, about three dozen newspapers of that time from different states were inclined to reprint each other's materials, that is, we are dealing with the effect of a propagandistic echo.

Background. In modern conditions of digitalization of education and the spread of the digital format of reading, it becomes especially relevant to refer to the scientific heritage of Academician of the Russian Academy of Education G.G. Granik, in particular, to her concept of text comprehension. Objective. To analyze and summarize the results of the fundamental and practice-oriented research on the problem of text comprehension, carried out by G.G. Granik and her colleagues during forty years (1980–2020); to present a new empirical study of adolescents’ comprehension of text in the process of reading from paper and from screens. Methods. Methods include theoretical analysis and generalization of research results on the problem of text comprehension, carried out in the scientific school of G.G. Granik. In order to conduct the empirical study, the authors’ diagnostic toolkit was used, aimed at identifying the level of understanding of factual and conceptual textual information. Sample. The total sample consisted of 173 students in grades 7–8 of the secondary schools in the Moscow region. Results. It was found that students who read from paper demonstrate better diagnostic results than those who read from screen, however, the differences are statistically insignificant (p > 0.05). This may indicate that modern adolescents are rather quickly becoming better adapted to the digital format and the differences in reading from paper and from screen are gradually being erased. However, the level of understanding of a long and complex text remains quite low: almost half (49.7%) of the students were unable to formulate the main idea of the text, only 30.6% coped well with this task. Conclusion. Conceptual ideas about text comprehension, generated in the scientific school of G.G. Granik in relation to traditional paper reading have an undoubted development potential and can be used as the basis for research on digital reading.

Subject and Purpose. Results are presented of the solar corona investigations performed with the world famous Ukrainian radio telescopes. The work has been aimed at offering a consistent review of recent achievements in observations of a variety of low-frequency radio emissions from the Sun. Methods and Methodology. The studies of the quiet (thermal) and sporadic (burst-like) radio emissions from the Sun have been carried out with the decameter-wavelength radio telescopes UTR-2, GURT and URAN-2. Specific features of the low-frequency solar radio emissions from a variety of sources are presented, with characterization of the optimized techniques that were applied in each case for evaluating physical parameters of the corona in the areas of decameter-wavelength radio wave generation. Results. The analysis of temporal, frequency and spatial characteristics of solar radio emissions has allowed suggesting a number of models for the coronal electron density distribution, and evaluating magnetic field strengths in the corona. Also, our experimental results have proven to be consistent with the observational data obtained in different frequency ranges and with the use of both ground based and space-borne instruments. Conclusions. The radio observations performed with Ukrainian radio telescopes have permitted studying, with high temporal, frequency and spatial resolutions, solar radio frequency emissions from various localized sources. Along with the large effective area and high sensitivity of the antennas, this permits application of a wide range of methods and tools aimed at detecting and analyzing solar bursts, of both strong and weak intensity, against the background of terrestrial interference of natural or artificial origin.

Background. In modern realities, the issue of import substitution and modernization of existing domestic equipment and control systems in all branches of production and industry of the Russian Federation is becoming more acute. The purpose of this work is to find ways to modernize and improve the automated control system of paper production on the example of the current paper-making machine of the Penza paper mill of JSC "MAYAK". Materials and methods. The paper uses methods of modern theory of automatic control and automation of technological processes, methods of digital image processing, computer modeling. Results. A computer model of an automated process control system has been created that regulates the weight of a paper web on a paper machine. Conclusions. The considered ways of improving the automated process control system of paper production have proved their viability. The use of an automated process control system with a speed ratio regulator allowed to improve the quality of process control, reducing the effect of time lag on the system.

The article presents an overview of research literature on the etiquettical conventional speech genre “wish” in Russian and foreign linguistics. The author compares definitions of the lexeme “wish” in various lexicographic sources, considers researchers’ approaches to determining the status of a wish and identifies some debatable problems of studying the genre. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of wishes within the theory of speech acts and the theory of speech genres. The article also compares researchers’ viewpoints on the debatable problems concerning pious wishes and evil wishes, as well as gives an overview of the works concerning grammatical and syntactic means of making wishes and typical models of the genre. The article provides the analysis of works with the existing classifications of wishes based on their structure and on being etiquettical/non-etiquettical, stereotypical/non-stereotypical, etc., as well as the analysis of works based on ideas about the field structure of the genre, where the core consists of clichéd wishes, and the periphery – of non-standard statements, or (according to another theory) explicit statements and imperative/modified wishes, respectively. The research points out the importance of investigating extralinguistic factors (gender, age, status-role relations of communicants) in the study of wishes. The paper reviews articles which deal with the comparison and collation analysis of wishes in different languages (Russian, English, German, Chinese, etc.). The conclusion outlines some directions for the further study of this genre in various areas and situations of communication.

In this work, four waste paper composites were studied in terms of several photon interaction parameters over the energy region from 0.015 to 15.0 MeV. The waste paper and natural rubber (WP/NR) composites of different densities ranging from ρ = 0.894 to 1.16 gm⋅cm-3 were used for shielding radioactive rubble at different time period stages. Some additives were also used including high-abrasion furnace black, paraffin wax, B4C, as well as magnetite. The deduced parameters of photon interaction: equivalent atomic number Zeq, exposure buildup factor and energy absorption buildup factor have been studied as a function of incident photon energy, WP/NR elemental composition, and for penetration depths, up to 40 mean free path. The Zeq numbers have shown slight variation over the selected incident energy range and buildup factors were found to be modest at low and high photon energy meanwhile their values increase widely over the intermediate energy region. In addition, kerma relative to air for photon energies from 1 to 20 MeV were computed and show dependence upon equivalent atomic numbers. In this work, it was clear that filled samples offer better shielding capabilities than unfilled ones. The obtained data could be useful for radiation physicists and scientists in estimating the γ-irradiation received after applying such shields.

The author addresses the problem of diplomatic settlement of the Ulster crisis during the Premiership of Edward Heath in the UK. For the first time, the stages of the negotiation process during this period are indicated. "Green Paper" and "White Paper" were released by the conservative government and were recognized as important steps. The aim was to settle the Ulster problem and there was a need for public justification of the results of the direct rule introduction and for the referral of settlement's prospects of the conflict. The source base of the research was made up of various documents, such as the text of the "Green" and "White book", British and Irish parliamentary debates, Irish and British periodicals. The article comprehensively explores the background and objectives of the "Green Paper" and "White Paper's" publication. The documents are presented as a stage in the development of the negotiation process in the framework of the Ulster crisis. The author argues that the "Green Paper" was theoretical in nature, presenting an analysis of the political and historical development of Northern Ireland until 1972, as well as various ways of resolving the conflict, which were proposed by the then influential Northern Ireland parties and organizations. The "White Paper" suggested concrete steps to resolve the situation, which represented a solution to the Ulster problem, based on the interests of the conservative party. Both documents confirm the constitutional status of Northern Ireland as part of the UK, until the population of the region wants to secede from the UK, which in reality was not feasible, due to the conditions indicated by the conservatives in the documents. The author concludes that both documents were declarative in nature. The article presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of the texts of documents, their public perception from the British and Irish sides, analyzes the results of their publication, and also indicates the contribution to the solution of the Ulster problem.

The insulation of an oil-filled transformer is based on materials of organic origin - oil and wood pulp. The state of insulation is a key factor in the reliable operation of a power equipment, and much attention is paid to the insulation state assessment by researchers. To assess the cellulose insulation state, indicators such as the degree of polymerization and paper moisture are deter-mined. The existing methods for determining the moisture content and the degree of polymeriza-tion of a paper insulation have disadvantages, as they require a complex process of sampling the insulation, which is a time-consuming operation. The purpose of the work is to develop new methods for determining the moisture content and the degree of polymerization of the paper in-sulation of a power transformer. This goal is achieved by obtaining the reflection spectra of the paper insulation samples and constructing two correlation lines to determine the degree of polymerization and humidity. The most significant result of the article is the establishment of the dependence of the reflection coefficient of the paper on the concentration of water exceeding 4% and the position of the minimum in the reflection spectrum of paper insulation on the degree of polymerization. The significance of the obtained results lies in the fact that the optical method for determining the moisture content and the degree of polymerization of paper insulation using the constructed correlation lines is highly accurate and does not require the use of additional re-agents and complex calculations.

Every enterprise seeks to determine as accurately as possible the cost of the products or services it produces. The allocation of indirect costs causes considerable difficulties in this process. In the search for the most accurate alternatives for allocating indirect costs, the Activity Based Costing (ABC) method has become more popular in recent decades and is increasingly used by companies. The ABC method has many advantages, but it also has disadvantages, which have led to further development of the method by proposing newer versions. These include Fuzzy Activity Based Costing (FABC), which reduces the risk of uncertainty in data collection conditions and inaccurate cost allocation. However, while the literature provides a theoretical model of the FABC approach, there is very little research focused on sector-specific companies. Given that the issue of indirect cost allocation is particularly relevant for manufacturing companies, this paper explores the possibilities of applying the FABC method in manufacturing companies, using the example of a paper and cardboard manufacturing company. The aim of the research: after revealing the principles of ABC and FABC implementation, to improve the indirect cost allocation process in a paper and cardboard manufacturing company using the FABC method. The methods used for the study were document analysis, observation, conversation, interview, and fuzzy set analysis. The results showed that the FABC method has lower cost drivers for some activities and higher cost drivers for others than the ABC method. The improvement path developed for the allocation of indirect costs using the FABC approach could serve as a good model for its implementation in other manufacturing sectors.

The author analyses the collection of scientific articles of the 14th International Scientific Conference “The Current Problems of Parliamentarism: History and Modernity (2020 Tauride Readings),” held in St Petersburg in December 2020. The review examines the problems and topics of the articles included in the collection as well as the issues tackled during the discussions and the round table. The analysis of various aspects of the activities of the State Duma of the early 20th century plays the lead role in most of the studies presented in the collection.
