As the only extant work of Fu Ge (賦格) from the Song Dynasty, Sheng Lu Guan Jian (聲律關鍵) holds immense literary, historical, and bibliography research value. For a long time, scholars have believed that the book has only been handed down as a copy collected by Wan Wei Bie Cang (宛委別藏) during the Qing dynasty Jiaqing (嘉慶) period, which has been photocopied and proofread multiple times while ignoring the earlier and textually superior handwritten copy collected by the Zhi Bu Zu Zhai (知不足齋) owned by Bao Tingbo (鮑廷博) in the Qing dynasty. After careful comparison between the two versions, it was found that the content of the Zhi Bu Zu Zhai version was more complete. Wan Wei Bie Cang version has 48 parts of the text that were intentionally omitted, 7 parts of the text were missing, a large number of markings have all been deleted, and 43 parts of the text were copied incorrectly. These are all complete and correct in Zhi Bu Zu Zhai version. In terms of completeness, accuracy, and reliability, the Zhi Bu Zu Zhai version is far superior to the Wan Wei Bie Cang version and is the best version of the book Sheng Lu Guan Jian. Based on its format, wording, and the contact between Bao Tingbo and Ruan Yuan (阮元), as well as their frequent interactions in the editing industry, it can be reasonably concluded that the Zhi Bu Zu Zhai version of Sheng Lu Guan Jian is the original copy of the Wan Wei Bie Cang version.

India is home to the second-largest tribal population in the world. Tribal communities have always played a significant role in Indian society. They have distinctive lifestyles and customs as well as rich traditions, culture, and heritage. They also have many characteristics in common, such as residing in relative isolation from other social groupings and are relatively more homogeneous and independent. But they fall far behind in reaping the benefits of digital technology applications when compared to non-tribal population. There exists a huge gap in the access and use of digital devices and services between the tribal and non-tribal population. There might be internet facilities in tribal villages because the government has been keen in uplifting the lives of tribal people through various initiatives such as Digital India programme, but the fact remains that they lack the skill and infrastructure to utilize the benefits of the internet. Hence it is evident that there exists digital divide which hinders the economic and social development of the tribes. This paper attempts to identify a set of core dimensions and indicators that could be potentially used to measure the digital inclusion of the tribes. The digital divide between the tribal group and non-tribal group deepens with the ever-changing digital landscape and for ensuring digital inclusion, this digital divide should be eliminated. Qualitative content analysis of selected documents using MAXQDA software, one of the leading software for qualitative and mixed methods research, was used in this study. Five key dimensions—Accessibility, Affordability, Awareness, Ability and Attitude (5As) that play a crucial role in identifying the extent of digital inclusion of the socially excluded group of population were extracted from the documents subjected to qualitative content analysis.

The manuscript of Gong Yang Shu (公羊疏) from the late Muromachi period, housed in the Hosa Library (蓬左文庫) in Japan, is the only complete Dan Shu Ben (單疏本) in the world. According to the newly discovered Marginalia and Proofread Edition (校宋本) by Hayashi Razan (林羅山), Hayashi and his son collated the Wan Li Bei Jian Ben (萬曆北監本) based on the Dan Shu Ben held in the Kanazawa Library (金澤文庫) in 1654. This suggests that the original loss at Kanazawa occurred before 1654. The Hosa Edition (蓬左本) of Gong Yang Shu, now preserved, was copied from the original edition of the Imperial Academy’s reprint of the Southern Song Dynasty, which was housed in the Kanazawa Library. The Gong Yang Shu in the Kanazawa Library was not revised during the Song and Yuan Dynasties but predates the seven volumes of the extant edition held in the National Library of China today. A comparison with the remnants of the Revised Edition (遞修本) reveals that the variants in the Hosa Edition are superior to those in the Revised Edition. The disorganized sections of the Hosa Edition can be supplemented using the Revised Edition, and any missing or inaccurately copied parts of the Hosa Edition can also be corrected with reference to the Revised Edition. A comprehensive use of the two Dan Shu Ben editions, along with Hayashi Razan’s Marginalia and Proofread Edition, is highly beneficial for the collation and study of Gong Yang Shu.

To understand the development of health information services for people with disabilities in public libraries in Taiwan, this study utilized a questionnaire survey to gather information on the current status of health information services provided by public libraries at the county and city levels and above. Subsequently, in-depth interviews were conducted to explore the professional knowledge and continuing education needs of public librarians in providing health information services. The study’s results indicate that public libraries in Taiwan primarily promote health information through activities such as film screenings and workshops. The content of these activities typically focuses on topics like daily health care, disease prevention and management, medication information, and health care resources. Librarians face challenges in delivering health information services due to a lack of relevant knowledge, insufficient library resources, concerns over legal and privacy issues, and uncertainty about reference resources. Nonetheless, librarians express a strong willingness to pursue continuing education in health information services, to enhance their professional knowledge and skills in this area. In conclusion, based on the comprehensive survey results, the study proposes recommendations for public libraries in Taiwan to promote health information services for people with disabilities.

How to successfully sell products through shopping apps has become an important topic in mobile commerce. This study recruited 34 Taobao App consumers to participate in simulated shopping tasks to explore differences in App functionality usage behaviors. We used clustering methods to identify five unique shopping groups and then applied lag sequential analysis (LSA) to analyze search paths. Additionally, we augmented the explanations of these approaches with lifestyle analysis to explore the characteristic of five unique shopping groups. The research findings indicate that time factors significantly influence shopping behaviors. Transactional-oriented group and recommendation-adopting groups with shorter shopping times have simplified search moves. In contrast, price sensitive, information-consuming, and product-comparing in longer time groups demonstrate more diverse and unique search patterns and place emphasis on comparing prices, information, and brands, respectively. The lifestyle analysis in the study revealed significant differences in the information-seeking (IS) dimension among different shopping groups. This finding aligns with the research results obtained through segmentation analysis based on shopping App functionality usage in this study. The findings contribute to helping shopping App managers understand various consumer shopping behaviors for enhancing design of Apps functionalities and interfaces.

With the increasing embrace of preprints by scientific and social science disciplines, the humanities have garnered comparatively less attention in their development. This study targeted 1,734 preprints uploaded on the SSRN Literature Research Network between 1997 and 2020. The findings reveal substantial preprint growth in both traditional and interdisciplinary literature categories since 2007. A total of 1,376 authors were identified as affiliated with 676 institutions across 75 countries and represented 25 disciplines. Only 6 authors shared preprints in both interdisciplinary and traditional literature, but they were productive, contributing 8-100 preprints. Law authors dominated interdisciplinary literature preprints because most preprints were related to law and literature. This differed in that language and literature authors predominantly shared preprints in traditional literature. Additionally, there is a slightly higher publication rate in interdisciplinary literature preprints than in traditional literature preprints (36.6% vs. 31.8%). Traditional literature preprints showed a significantly higher preference for publishing in the format of journal articles compared to interdisciplinary literature preprints (88.7% vs. 77.3%).

Since 2013, the Institute of Library and Information Science of Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary has been organising the largest library and information science event, called the Real Library – Library Reality Conference, in Hungary every two years. In 2023, the two–day, peer-reviewed international conference with more than 50 speakers, focused on libraries and the market economy. On the first day of the conference, library and archive directors, economists, and academics shed light on the economic and political environment of the cultural sector. On the second day, the institute's lecturers and doctoral students presented their research, and there was also an English-language session with the Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (Thailand) and Oslo Metropolitan University (Norway).

This research work investigated the relationship between undergraduate search skills and usage of electronic information resources (EIRs) in Ambrose Ali University (AAU), Edo State, Nigeria. The population of the study was 1,798 final year undergraduate students of AAU for the 2023/2024 academic session, with a sample of 113 from three Faculties. Accidental sampling and throwing of a dice were the adopted sampling techniques. The research instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of percentages, mean scores (x̄), and standard deviation (SD) for the research questions while Pearson Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient statistical method was used to test the hypothesis; and the data were presented in Tables. Findings showed that AAU undergraduate students can define their information needs and select articles with ease (x̄ = 3.46). They can use basic ICTs and possess basic search skills (x̄ = 3.08). While they mainly use OPAC (x̄ = 3.8), e-books (x̄ = 3.8), e-journals (x̄ = 3.6), online databases (x̄ = 3.8), e-thesis (x̄ = 3.0), and e-magazines (x̄ = 3.0), they use them for leisure (x̄ = 3.1), searching for internship opportunities (x̄ = 3.6), and class assignment (x̄ = 3.3). They encounter challenges like unavailability of relevant EIRs (x̄ = 3.3), lack of awareness of EIRs (x̄ = 3.4), inadequate searching skills (x̄ = 3.3), and high cost of internet access in their quest to use EIRs (x̄ = 3.1). Thus, the paper concluded that the undergraduate students of AAU possess the search skills and showed that here is a significant relationship between the search skills and the use of electronic information resources. The study recommended updates on the search skills and use, as well as provision of facilities to ensure equitable quality learning of the students.

The monograph Knižní kultura českého středověku [Czech Book Culture in the Middle Ages] presents in four chapters the history of the manuscript and partially printed books and book culture, especially the area of book painting and book binding in the Czech lands in the Middle Ages until about the end of the 15th century. There is also an additional topic connected with book history, the period of incunabula. The authors of the individual chapters are Michal Dragoun, Jindřich Marek (Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship, Faculty of Arts, Charles University), Kamil Boldan (National Library of the Czech Republic), Milada Studničková (Institute of Art History, Czech Academy of Sciences). It summarizes new knowledge in areas previously summarized in the publications published in the early 1990s, Česká kniha v proměnách staletí [Czech Book through the centuries], compiled by a collective of authors under the leadership of Mirjam Bohatcová, and Josef Krása’s study České iluminované rukopisy 13.–16. století [Czech Illuminated Manuscripts 13th to 16th centuries]. The reviewed book is based on many years of research done by the members of the author’s team and also on partial studies by personalities of Czech and Moravian codicology and library science (e.g., Jiří Hlaváček, Petr Voit, Ladislav Dokoupil, and others).

Purpose: This paper is a comparative study of repositories in Africa for the global visibility of African scholarly communication. It aims to provide a detailed description and comparison of repositories in Africa by region, country, repository type, year established, content type, software type, and language of content. Design/methodology/approach: Using a systematic content review methodology, and a total enumerative sampling technique, a total of 259African repositories drawn from the Directory of Open Access Repositories database over one week were reviewed. Findings: The study revealed that out of the 5,905 repositories listed, 259 are from Africa. The repositories are spread across 24 out of the 54 countries that make up the continent, thus making a 44% representation of African scholarly communication by countries in the global space. By region, Eastern Africa had the highest number at 101 (39%) repositories invariably becoming the African region with the most visible scholarly communication, while Central Africa had the least number of OARs at 1 (.4%). By countries, South Africa took the top of other countries at 51 (20%) repositories, while Cameroon was the least at 1 (0.3%). The African scholarly communication with the most visibility is Social Sciences at 223 while the least archived subject is Mathematics at 176. African scholarly communications made available on the global space are mostly generated by institutions of learning as the study shows that 243 (94%) OARs in Africa are institutional repositories. Originality/value: The study exposed the paltry contribution of African repositories in ensuring the global visibility of African scholarly communication. It reveals the weakness of the African continent in exploring the potential of OARs in the wider dissemination of their scholarly communication. Africa has the second-largest population in the world, and ought to generate more scholarly communication in the global space. To this end, therefore, the study recommends among others that African institutions should commit to establishing and maintaining OARs if African scholarly communication will be visible in the global space.

The study investigated digital literacy of library and information science postgraduate students and ubiquitous learning in state universities in south-South, Nigeria. Four (4) objectives, four research questions, and four hypotheses guided the study. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted a correlational design and the population was 221 comprising library and information science postgraduate students from eight (8) state universities in South-South, Nigeria. The census sampling technique was used to select the entire population of 221 which represents the sample size. Instrument titled “Digital Literacy of Library and Information Science Postgraduate Students and Ubiquitous Learning Questionnaire” (DLLISPSULQ) was used for data collection. The reliability of the instrument was established through test-retest methods and was determined using Cronbach Alpha method which yielded reliability coefficient of 0.89. The study was analyzed using mean and standard deviation for research questions and Pearson Product Moment Correlation for hypotheses. It was revealed that there was a significant relationship between digital literacy of LIS postgraduate students and ubiquitous learning in state universities in South-South, Nigeria. It was recommended that Library and Information Science schools in South-South, Nigeria should as a matter of policy direct all LIS educators to adopt the use of ubiquitous technologies in teaching to enhance the adoption of ubiquitous learning by Postgraduate students.

The BOBCATSSS organization, an annual event coordinated by library and information science students from various European universities, fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange within the library and information science (LIS). Since its inception in 1993, BOBCATSSS conferences have served as a significant platform for students, professionals, and academics to present research, discuss contemporary issues, and explore emerging trends in LIS. The unique student-driven nature of the conference ensures the inclusion of fresh perspectives and innovative approaches, reflecting the dynamic and evolving landscape of the discipline. Each year, the conference is hosted by different universities across Europe, promoting cultural exchange and enhancing the international dimension of LIS education and research. The themes of BOBCATSSS conferences are diverse, covering a wide range of topics such as digital libraries, information literacy, knowledge management, and the impact of emerging technologies on information services. By providing an interdisciplinary forum, BOBCATSSS facilitates the development of new ideas and the establishment of professional networks, contributing significantly to the advancement of LIS.

Aims: The intersection of information access and environmental justice has become increasingly vital as communities worldwide grapple with environmental challenges. This study explores the relationship between information access and environmental justice in library practices, focusing on academic librarians at the Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region. Methods: This study utilized a descriptive design. The study involved six academic librarians from the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria, selected for their expertise in facilitating information access and availability especially as it relates to the roles of libraries in environmental justice initiatives within academia. Data were gathered through focus group discussions (FGDs) with the participating librarians, conducted in a conducive and private setting to encourage open dialogue and diverse perspectives. Thematic analysis was employed to analyze the FGD transcripts. Results: The findings emphasize the importance of multilingual resources, targeted outreach, translation services, collaboration with community leaders, consideration of literacy levels, and cultural relevance in ensuring information accessibility. Challenges such as limited internet access, language barriers, disparities in digital literacy, lack of awareness, and resistance from certain community members hinder equitable information access. Conclusion: The study concludes that librarians contribute to environmental justice advocacy through participation in local initiatives, policy engagement, awareness raising, and collaboration with stakeholders. This study sheds light on the crucial role of libraries in advancing environmental justice and suggests strategies for enhancing information access and advocacy efforts in the pursuit of sustainable development agendas.

In 1581, the first publication in Polish was issued in Toruń by the publishing house Melchior Nering. Unlike the majority of Polish book production in other parts of the Kingdom of Poland at that time, Polish books in Toruń were regularly printed from that point onwards, and during the initial phase, they constituted approximately 25% of all books published there. A small proportion of them were published as typographic anonyms, i.e. without mentioning the printer's name in the publication. The article aims to analyse anonymous printing production in Polish in Toruń until 1607 and to present it in the context of Toruń typography at that time.

Aim: The onset of the 5th Industrial Revolution heralds a transformative era marked by extraordinary technological advancements, compelling libraries to reinvent themselves within a rapidly digitizing world. The study explores the evolving role of libraries, emphasizing the integration of smart technologies to enhance user experiences, streamline operations, and increase knowledge accessibility. It addresses critical ethical and privacy concerns, advocating for strategies that uphold inclusivity, transparency, and intellectual freedom. Methods: The study employed an interpretive content/document analysis methodology to thoroughly review and analyze literature sourced from diverse databases, including Scopus and Web of Science. This methodological choice aims for a comprehensive and well-rounded examination of the subject, incorporating a broad spectrum of perspectives and insights. The interpretive content/document analysis process involves a meticulous scrutiny and interpretation of textual materials, fostering a nuanced understanding of the investigated topic. The inclusion of literature from reputable databases like Scopus and Web of Science not only enhances the credibility and reliability of the findings but also ensures a robust exploration of the subject. Results: Key technologies such as AI, machine learning, data analytics, IoT, blockchain, AR/VR, and 5G are examined for their impact on library operations and user engagement. Challenges, including digital equity, ethical AI use, data security, interoperability, and financial constraints, are identified and analyzed. Conclusion: The study advocates by highlighting the necessity for libraries to evolve into dynamic, intelligent hubs that contribute to sustainable knowledge systems while maintaining their foundational principles.

In this era of semantic web, libraries can leverage the power of Wikdata to enhance the discoverability of their resources, foster interoperability, as well as empower information seekers to navigate a richer and vast network of knowledge bases. This study adopted the review method to theoretically examine the concept of Wikidata and how libraries could benefit from the technology by linking their metadata to the global knowledgebase, so as to increase the visibility and discoverability of library materials. The study X-rayed the application of Wikidata in libraries, particularly in the area of increasing visibility and discoverability of library of resources. With Wikidata, libraries could create a web of interconnected knowledge bases that transcends boundaries. It emphasized the importance of integrating Wikidata into libraries, as this could help to shape the open knowledge ecosystem and empower libraries to better serve their user communities in an ever-changing World. The study further advocates for the adoption of Wikidata in libraries so as to project library resources for the greater good of mankind.

Today, 98% of peer-reviewed scientific publishing is in English, which is also the official language of most scientific events and international academic journals. UNESCO, through its Recommendation on Open Science, has called on scientific institutions to foster multilingualism in the practice of science, in scientific publications, and in academic communications. At The Lancet, we recognize the need to provide more equitable and inclusive access to scientific knowledge by providing abstracts translated into relevant languages. Following a pilot, a workflow for abstract translation was devised. I present here details of our abstract translation procedure and rollout.

La Colección Lafragua es uno de los primeros conjuntos bibliográficos especiales incorporados al acervo de la Biblioteca Nacional de México como herencia de su creador, José María Lafragua [1813-1875]; ingresó acompañada de dos catálogos manuscritos que dan cuenta de su riqueza como patrimonio documental. En la segunda mitad del siglo XX se organizó el 75 % de las 1 580 misceláneas que conforman el corpus y en el año 2021, en plena pandemia de COVID-19, se retomó la sistematización de la parte no registrada con una perspectiva bibliográfica actualizada, basada en la identificación de las marcas de propiedad y las procedencias, así como en el registro de preliminares legales y paratextos literarios. Se usó el Sistema Integrado de Gestión Bibliotecaria Koha de manera remota para incorporar las descripciones y el análisis de cada recurso, también se avanzó en la organización de los corpus correspondientes a la época virreinal y a la moderna que sobrepasaban la fecha de fallecimiento de José María Lafragua. Actualmente hay 19 191 registros de impresos bibliográficos y manuscritos fechados de 1575 a 1925, una suma de 350 años de patrimonio escrito producido en América, Europa y Asia, procedente principalmente de España, Filipinas y México, compilado por José María Lafragua y posteriormente acrecentado con ejemplares de otras colecciones de la Biblioteca Nacional de México.

Objetivo: A desinformação é um desafio multifacetado que ameaça a sociedade em diversos aspectos, envolvendo interesses políticos, econômicos e ideológicos. Esse fenômeno se propaga de forma viral através das redes sociais e outras plataformas de comunicação instantânea, disseminando uma variedade de narrativas. O aumento do uso desses recursos digitais, impulsionado pelo uso cotidiano de dispositivos, permite que diversos atores participem desse ecossistema informacional. Método: Este estudo tem como objetivo realizar uma análise preliminar dos principais temas abordados pelas narrativas de desinformação durante o processo eleitoral no Brasil em 2022. A pesquisa, de caráter exploratório, foi conduzida nos meses de agosto, setembro, outubro e novembro de 2022. A primeira fase foi dedutiva, coletando dados de agências de checagem reconhecidas pelo Tribunal Superior Eleitoral e pelo Supremo Tribunal Federal, utilizando a ferramenta Tempora, desenvolvida pelo Laboratório em Rede de Humanidades Digitais do Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia. A segunda fase foi indutiva, analisando o conteúdo publicado pelas agências selecionadas sobre o tema das eleições, com o auxílio da ferramenta Voyant Tools. Resultados: Os resultados dessa análise indicam que as fake news e outras formas de desinformação seguem a mesma lógica dos “trending topics” das redes sociais. Essa dinâmica não é uma expressão cultural autêntica, mas sim uma estratégia direcionada a neutralizar oponentes. No contexto eleitoral, essa estratégia envolveu principalmente os candidatos Jair Bolsonaro e Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Conclusões: Este estudo contribui significativamente para o avanço do conhecimento sobre desinformação, enfatizando a importância da educação, regulação e conscientização pública na luta contra esse desafio e na preservação da integridade dos processos democráticos.

Objetivo: Apresentar um referencial teórico e metodológico, construído a partir da identificação e da apresentação do estado da arte da modelagem conceitual de publicações seriadas por parte dos modelos IFLA LRM e PRESSoo, buscando um mapeamento de suas contribuições para a descrição e o controle desses recursos em sistemas de informação. Método: Esta pesquisa adota como método a Revisão Sistemática da Literatura, que é composta de um corpo estruturado de protocolos, de etapas e de critérios pré-definidos, que garantem alta e comprovável qualidade, tendo como foco seu caráter de reprodutibilidade por outros pesquisadores. Resultado: Verificou-se, que o PRESSoo possui uma modelagem granular e exaustiva de publicações seriadas com classes e propriedades que cobrem todo o escopo de informação bibliográfica desses recursos. A partir da linguagem de modelagem Orientado-a-Objeto, o modelo permite a estruturação de classes centradas-em-eventos, e sendo flexível, declara propriedades que permitem uma abordagem centrada-em-objeto. O IFLA LRM, por sua vez, possui uma modelagem com maior ênfase na estrutura de entidades, não sendo tão exaustivo na declaração de atributos e de relacionamentos para publicações seriadas; porém, proporcionando a integração de outros modelos, por meio de seus mecanismos de extensão. Conclusões: Constatou-se, que os modelos IFLA LRM e PRESSoo, a partir de uma reestruturação sintática e semântica, podem unificar a teoria e prática catalográficas referentes às publicações seriadas, fornecendo estrutura conceitual que proporcione soluções para as problemáticas complexas desses recursos e um entendimento compartilhado e exaustivo desse domínio.

Objetivo: A partir de experiência realizada na biblioteca da Escola de Comunicações e Artes (ECA) da Universidade de São Paulo, objetiva abordar os aspectos operacionais da importação de registros de artigos científicos, catalogados em formato MARC21 e disponibilizados em repositório institucional, para a Wikidata, base de dados conectados abertos. Espera-se contribuir para discussões sobre o uso da Wikidata para replicar registros de catálogos de bibliotecas universitárias e promover a interligação entre distintos conjuntos de dados, aumentando o alcance da produção científica no contexto digital. Método: Estudo de caso descritivo, utilizando-se também pesquisa bibliográfica. Resultado: A importação de registros em formato MARC21 para dados conectados abertos demandou a coleta e a estruturação de novos dados, para viabilizar a representação da trama institucional da produção científica na Wikidata. Ao criar metadados para vincular o repositório institucional à Wikidata, a iniciativa expôs a interligação entre conjuntos de dados como estratégia para ampliar o alcance da produção científica no contexto digital. No domínio da visualização de dados, identificou-se a necessidade de desenvolver interfaces que dialoguem com necessidades específicas da instituição. Conclusões: O emprego de softwares abertos despontou como estratégia relevante ao desenvolvimento de ações em bibliotecas, pois caracterizam-se pela existência de uma comunidade de práticas visando tanto o seu desenvolvimento como sua apropriação pelos interessados. Além disso, sobressaiu a relevância de que a escolha por recursos tecnológicos reconheça a relevância de sistemas e dados abertos para o desenvolvimento da ciência aberta.

Objetivo: Este artigo objetiva analisar a abertura de dados das bibliotecas de universidades federais brasileiras, conforme preceituam as iniciativas de governo aberto e a legislação brasileira vigente, usando como referência os indicadores da norma ISO 11620:2014. Método: A metodologia inclui análise quanti-qualitativa dos dados das bibliotecas disponíveis nos portais oficiais e aplicação de questionários nas 69 universidades federais vinculadas ao MEC. Resultado: Os resultados indicam que a maioria das bibliotecas não tem seus dados inseridos nos Planos de Dados Abertos da Universidade, violando as diretrizes da Controladoria-Geral da União. Embora as bibliotecas coletem dados e produzam relatórios, sua participação em iniciativas de dados abertos ainda é limitada. Conclusões: Há potencial para maior engajamento na promoção da transparência e do acesso à informação dos dados produzidos e custodiados por esses espaços.

Objetivo: Abordar a relevância da memória material e da documentação popular como meios para examinar a dimensão simbólica dos objetos e dos espaços de memória, visando o aprofundamento de uma cultura memorialística mais democrática e plural. E, em particular, explorar implicações políticas e epistemológicas envolvendo destinatários e protagonistas da memória material e da documentação popular no campo informacional. Método: Recorre-se a fundamentações das ciências da informação e da documentação, dos estudos historiográficos e de pressupostos sobre patrimônio, além de memórias pessoais e relatos de experiências obtidos por meio de testemunhos orais e documentais, fundamentais para compreender a dissolução do Esquadrão da Morte durante a Ditadura Civil-Militar e explicitar o protagonismo de uma igreja – Paróquia Nossa Senhora Fátima, Guarulhos-SP – no processo de redemocratização do país. Ademais, estabelece-se uma relação entre estes acontecimentos da segunda metade do século XX com as intentonas golpistas ocorridas mais recentemente no Brasil. Resultados: A atuação da igreja e da comunidade, bem como das instituições democráticas, demonstram seu protagonismo frente à cultura e ações autoritárias. Reconhece-se, por um lado, a importância das instituições tradicionais de informação, cultura e memória para atender às demandas da comunidade; por outro, observa-se que os ambientes informais de cultura, informação e memória tendem a se distinguir dos padrões de enquadramento das instituições tradicionais, proporcionando maior diálogo entre os membros da comunidade. Conclusões: Destaca-se a importância da preservação e do acesso à memória em espaços como os centros de documentação popular. Os lugares de memória são propícios para promover reflexões, diálogos e ações de mediação com vistas ao aprofundamento de uma cultura democrática.

Objetivo: Identificar as relações interdisciplinares entre as áreas da Ciência da Informação e Ciência de Dados, uma vez que a Ciência da Informação é um campo de estudo interdisciplinar que se ocupa em desenvolver técnicas e métodos de coleta, armazenamento, recuperação, análise e disseminação da informação. Método: Caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa descritiva, exploratória e bibliográfica, cujo levantamento ocorreu em bases de dados interdisciplinares no âmbito nacional e internacional. Resultado: Os estudos realizados no campo da Ciência de Dados possuem certas convergências interdisciplinares com a Ciência da informação, sobretudo em atividades que englobam o Ciclo de Vida dos Dados, no qual o profissional da informação pode contribuir com suas habilidades nas etapas de coleta, armazenamento, recuperação e descarte. Com isso, há um cenário promissor no qual a Ciência da Informação pode contribuir de maneira efetiva no desenvolvimento de novas competências e possibilidades de atuação em ambientes inovadores, para os profissionais da informação. Conclusões: Conclui-se que, na medida em que a Ciência de Dados continua a se desenvolver, os profissionais da informação que desejam atuar na área necessitam desenvolver novas habilidades para lidar com grandes volumes de dados e novas Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação, sedimentando o constructo científico da Ciência da Informação, possibilitando contribuir com o desenvolvimento da Ciência de Dados enquanto uma nova área do conhecimento.

Objetivo: Descrever como os ambientes de informação podem favorecer a serendipidade por meio dos atributos de encontrabilidade da informação. Método: Pesquisa de natureza teórica, objetivo descritivo, utiliza abordagem qualitativa e pesquisa bibliográfica, realizada na Web of Science (WoS) e na Base de Dados em Ciência da Informação (BRAPCI). Resultado: Diferentes aspectos ambientais favorecem a serendipidade informacional, a saber, variedade de conteúdo; personalizar o acesso à informação; levar ao inesperado; estimular curiosidade e parabilidade; incentivar exploração e navegação; acesso desimpedido. Esses princípios gerais podem ser alcançados por meio dos atributos de encontrabilidade da informação e elementos do ambiente. Conclusões: Sugere-se que estudos futuros que abordem a serendipidade sob a perspectiva da descoberta de informação utilizem os termos “infoserendipidade” ou “serendipidade informacional” e que os princípios gerais apresentados podem ser utilizados como guia para avaliar a capacidade dos ambientes de informação em promover experiências de serendipidade.

Este artículo describe la experiencia de digitalización del Sistema de Bibliotecas de la Universidad de Las Américas (Chile) implementada con el objetivo de apoyar el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje durante la pandemia. Se aborda la importancia de la preservación digital de las bibliotecas universitarias y la creación de un repositorio institucional. También, se definen las características de la máquina digitalizadora, así como de los programas utilizados. Los resultados obtenidos del análisis estadístico realizado muestran un aumento de los libros digitalizados por año. Finalmente, las conclusiones exponen que el proceso de digitalización impulsó la creación de una colección digital que apoya la formación universitaria, pues permite disponer de las bibliografías obligatorias de las asignaturas en curso en formato digital, ofreciendo un acceso ágil y rápido al contenido.

Las bibliotecas nacionales son instituciones esenciales dentro de cualquier Estado, pues refuerzan la identidad cultural y aumentan la visibilidad de la memoria escrita de su nación. Aunque estos recintos difieren en cuanto a las funciones y servicios que brindan debido al contexto histórico y social en el que se desenvuelven, la mayoría de estas instituciones coincide en que una de sus competencias más fundamentales es recopilar y almacenar la memoria documental de su país bajo el mandato del depósito legal. El presente estudio muestra una metodología para el análisis de legislaciones del depósito legal, basada en la obra Legislación sobre depósito legal, directrices (2000) de Jules Larivière, la cual conforma un punto de partida para el análisis comparativo de bibliotecas nacionales. Finalmente, se hacen algunas reflexiones sobre los indicadores presentados y se muestran algunos avances en la aplicación de este modelo.

La información obtenida a través de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación, principalmente en las redes sociales digitales, ha traído grandes ventajas asociadas a la generación de una mayor cantidad de conocimiento y a la participación en múltiples ámbitos de la vida colectiva de los individuos. Aunado a ello, hay algunos aspectos en los que conviene ahondar para evitar solamente reconocer los elementos positivos de este fenómeno. En el presente trabajo se retoman tres de estos aspectos considerados poco abordados en los estudios existentes: el arraigamiento ideológico, entendido bajo la noción de path dependence, que dificulta el enriquecimiento de las posturas y de la opinión pública; la pérdida de los vínculos débiles debido a la cada vez mayor cerrazón de ideas suscitada en las redes sociales digitales; y la posible alienación política a través de la información oficial digital que no es acompañada por la consulta de otras fuentes o enfoques de análisis que enriquezcan la perspectiva de los ciudadanos. Las conclusiones apuntan a la necesidad de tener en cuenta estos y otros fenómenos en los estudios con el objeto de intentar mejorar los procesos de obtención de información digital de los ciudadanos.

El artículo presenta la construcción de una metodología para mapear los recorridos hechos en las bibliotecas universitarias como un aporte importante para la planificación de estos espacios, a partir de las trayectorias de los usuarios a través de los servicios de información ofrecidos en estos entornos de difusión del conocimiento. La metodología se caracteriza por un acercamiento desde el Design Thinking como un enfoque innovador capaz de configurar de manera más significativa el quehacer de la biblioteca a partir de sus preceptos y en la adaptación de estrategias aplicadas al entorno sistematizado bibliotecario; esta se planteó en cinco etapas: composición de los fundamentos teóricos, selección del modelo por aplicar, definición del perfil de los usuarios, elaboración y aplicación del instrumento, y análisis. Los resultados detallan aspectos metodológicos que revelan los recorridos a través de los servicios ofrecidos en dos bibliotecas universitarias y describen los procesos de atención en el chat y en las redes sociales de las bibliotecas, el autodepósito de documentos, la emisión de constancias de no adeudo y el préstamo de libros. Se concluye que la aplicación de Design Thinking en las bibliotecas universitarias ayuda a comprender su función, su rol organizacional y la perspectiva del usuario en relación con los servicios mejorando sus procesos y el prototipado de ideas surgidas desde la perspectiva de la innovación.

Las universidades difunden su producción científica a través de portales de investigación donde integran las publicaciones de sus investigadores, las cuales proceden de bases de datos bibliográficas como Web of Science. Este estudio examinó la correspondencia entre la información de los investigadores de la Universidad de Salamanca en Web of Science y en el Portal de la Investigación de la USAL. La metodología empleada fue mixta e incluyó técnicas de análisis automatizados y manuales para el tratamiento de datos de Web of Science que permitieron identificar las inconsistencias en los datos de publicaciones y autores. Se desarrolló una metodología en cinco fases que apoyó en la extracción semiautomática de identificadores ResearcherID de Web of Science de los investigadores que carecían de dicho identificador en el Portal USAL, así como en la validación de la corrección de los identificadores existentes. El método utilizado en el análisis y en la tipificación de incidencias son replicables en cualquier entidad de investigación. Las conclusiones determinan la consistencia de la información procedente de Web of Science, abogan por la autonomía de las plataformas institucionales de las fuentes externas y ofrecen soluciones para alcanzar la mejor calidad en los datos de una universidad en las plataformas comerciales de producción científica.

Background: Case reports are especially important in paediatrics, and CARE (CAse REport) guidelines help in standardizing the reporting in case reports.Objectives: To examine the actual use of CARE guidelines in journals in the field of paediatrics.Methods: Journals that publish case reports were selected from the databases of the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC; Science Citation Index Expanded, or SCIE; and Emerging Sources Citation Index, or ESCI). All journals that publish case reports and mention CARE guidelines were included, and the ranking (quartiles) of those journals was also recorded. From all the journals in paediatrics that mention CARE in their instructions for authors, 5% of all the open-access case reports were selected (limited to 10 reports from any one journal), and every 10th case report was included in the analysis. The reports published between 2013 and 2023 were further analysed for their compliance with the 13-item CARE checklist.Results: Of 184 journals in the field of paediatrics category included in the WoSCC, 130 (71%) were indexed in the SCIE and 54 (29%) in the ESCI; 161 (87%) publish case reports; and 121 (65%) mention CARE guidelines in their instructions for authors. However, they differ in applying CARE guidelines (P = .001), and more journals included in the ESCI mention CARE guidelines than do those included in the SCIE. During 2013–2023, a total of 22,989 case reports were published in the 121 journals that mention CARE guidelines. Of the total, 6733 (29%) were open access. Our final sample comprised 326 (5%) open access case reports that were open access, of which 240 (74%) were in the journals included in the SCIE and 86 (26%) in the ESCI. On aver-age, these reports were given a score of 8.5 (SD 1.97; range, 2–13) out of the maximum possible score of 13. The highest compliance was observed for the informed consent item (99%), while the lowest compliance was found for the keywords item (22%).Conclusion: It is important for journals to ensure that during writing and editing, the case reports they publish adhere to CARE guidelines so as to eliminate biased reporting and improve their quality.

Background: The project Cartografía de la Edición Académica Iberoamericana aims to analyze the production of academic books in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries in the Americas. Following the path opened by similar studies in Colombia and Brazil, we present the results for Mexico.Objectives: To analyze academic books published in Mexico between 2013 and 2019 to examine the entities that published the books and their respective shares in the total output.Methods: A mix of quantitative and qualitative approaches was used to characterize the Mexican publishers of academic books based on data on ISBNs, the International Standard Book Numbers. The data comprised the information provided to the agency that assigns a unique ISBN to each book. We also used the Delphi method and formed discussion groups of experts. The groups were set up on the basis of responses to semi-structured questionnaires that sought to determine the criteria an entity must satisfy to be considered an academic publisher.Conclusions: Of the 196 533 ISBNs issued in Mexico between 2013 and 2019, 117 929 (60%) were issued for books dealing with academic subjects. Commercial publishers accounted for the largest share of those books (63 044 ISBNs, or 53.4% of all the academic books), followed by university presses (29 628 ISBNs, or 25.1%). The group of experts suggested that among the 1289 publishers that requested ISBNs for academic books, only 151 (11.7%) can be considered truly academic publishers; 678 (52.6%) cannot; and 460 (35.7%) were borderline cases, as they meet some but not all the criteria for them to be considered truly academic.

En un contexto marcado por la vigilancia digital y el tratamiento de los datos personales como un bien, es fundamental abordar los temas relacionados con la privacidad de los individuos. En este sentido, los bibliotecarios tienen la responsabilidad de desarrollar la alfabetización en privacidad en los entornos académicos. El objetivo general de la investigación fue presentar un panorama del contenido sobre alfabetización en privacidad desarrollado a partir de una muestra de universidades de todo el mundo, utilizando los métodos bibliográfico y documental. La investigación bibliográfica reveló la discusión y la orientación de las instituciones bibliotecarias con respecto a la alfabetización en privacidad. En la investigación documental, con una muestra de las 10 mejores universidades de cada continente, se identificaron 66 contenidos relacionados con la alfabetización en privacidad, presentando al continente africano como el más representativo en la oferta de contenidos. En la categorización de los contenidos, se identificó que el pensamiento crítico está más presente en los enfoques, mientras que solo cinco de los contenidos totales incluían las tres categorías: pensamiento crítico, tecnosolucionista y legislativo en sus enfoques. Se sugiere para futuros trabajos el desarrollo de prácticas en alfabetización en privacidad aplicadas en bibliotecas universitarias, abordando los tres temas mencionados, y la búsqueda de alianzas con áreas que abordan el tema en las propias instituciones.

The purpose of the article is to determinate the role of the external signs in the multi-volume editions in the book marking and to solve the practical problems of reconstruction of the original composition of the book collection of Kolyvan-Voskresensky mining plants (KVMP) for the period of the XVIIIth – early XIXth centuries. This topic is considered in continuation of such issues as the reconstruction of KVMP book collection, which has already attracted the attention of our predecessors, such as formation of the fund, its cataloguing, redistribution among official Altai libraries and others. For the first time one speaks not on mechanical fixation of certain features of the copies, but on the study of these characteristics “interaction mechanisms” under the conditions of redistribution of preserved copies among different Siberian repositories. The focus is only on the signs of the early period of the existence of the book collection: stamp imprints, textual and numerical service records, specific features of bindings etc. The emphasis on early signs is due to an appeal to the earliest accounting document – “Inventory of books of Barnaul State Library, compiled by P. K. Frolov” (1809). This makes it possible to show in detail the connection between the signs on the books and the articles corresponding to these books official document and to determine the original composition of different multi-volume editions or, on the contrary avoid combining volumes that do not correspond to each other into one set. The structure of the article is determined by analysis of numerous details associated with each copy from three state repositories: State Public Scientific Technological Library of the Siberian branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library, Research Library of Tomsk State University. The main object of the study is records of “ordinary” and “private” copy numbers, official numerical records, handwritten evidences on the inclusion of numerous drawings in book blocks as an integral part of these editions, different styles of crossing out typographical letters with ferrous ink and other signs. The features of stamp imprints are taken into account. In some cases the paramount importance of the binding characteristics is shown. The role of external signs in combining disparate copies as sets of multi-volume editions is recognized as leading. It is concluded that not just recording, but rather a thorough study of the external features of the extant sets and odd volumes of multi-volume editions is one of the basic conditions for the successful reconstruction of the book collection of KVMP.

The paper is devoted to the problems of improving the system of training and expertise of scientific personnel in the field of library and information sciences. The relevance is due to the decrease in the quality of dissertation research in library science, bibliography and book studies due to the insufficient readiness of young scientific personnel for research activities. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the competence–based approach as the methodological basis for the theoretical design of candidate exam programs and to offer practical tools appropriate for assessing the level of readiness of applicants for the degree of Candidate of Sciences for scientific work in the specialty 5.10.4 – Library Science, bibliography and book studies. The definition of the candidate’s exam in line with the competence approach is given, a system of competence guidelines in the training of graduate students on the specialty 5.10.4 is formed. The control and measuring materials of the candidate’s examination in the specialty 5.10.4, developed and implemented at the Moscow State Institute of Culture, are presented. They are ready for implementation into educational and expert practices of other universities and scientific organizations.

In an increasingly interconnected world, understanding of cultures, traditions and systems of different countries is of growing importance. This article aims to acquaint readers of this journal with library systems in Namibia, shedding more light on its goals, history, and various branches such as the National Library of Namibia, the National Archives of Namibia, as well as special, academic, and school libraries. Through statistical data on services offered and user demographics, the author provides insights into the current landscape of libraries in Namibia. Additionally, the article addresses challenges faced by these institutions, ultimately concluding that while the library systems in Namibia has made significant strides since Namibia gained independence, further efforts are required for its continued development and enhancement.

The article examines the impact of the new geopolitical and economic realities, in which Russia exists after 2020–2022, on the country’s publishing system. The comparative dynamics of book publishing indicators for the market as a whole and for its main segments in recent years is provided. The ratio of new editions and reprints, as well as books by domestic authors and translated literature is analyzed. The imbalance in the repertoire policy of Russian publishing houses in favor of foreign literary products is shown, and ways to overcome it are proposed.

The article considers the issues of preserving and updating the ethnocultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation within the framework of the activities of museums, houses of folk art, higher educational institutions, academic research institutes. Institutions for which the preservation of cultural heritage is not the main essential activity, but has recently been actively developing, are characterized. These are federal and national universities and research institutes of the Russian academy of sciences. Universities integrate successfully knowledge related to intangible cultural heritage into educational programs. Research institutes have become reference bases in their regions in the study and preservation of national languages as objects of intangible cultural heritage, national literature and ethnography. The prospects for such activities of libraries are considered, a new role of which is given in the Federal Law N 402-FL “On the intangible ethnocultural property of the Russian Federation”. The possibility of digitizing and forming digital collections of objects of intangible cultural heritage recorded in the form of texts and static images in libraries, as well as information objects existing in the form of temporary representation (recording of musical works, dances, folklore) has been identified. Particular attention in digitization in libraries should be paid to funds on national languages, collections of audio recordings of folk music and ethnographic collections. Examples of the practice of presenting intangible ethnocultural heritage on federal and regional portals/sites are given.

Augmented reality (AR) applications are getting popular since they integrate the real world and the virtual world. This paper focusses on AR applications for public and scientific libraries. There exist some projects and sample implementations of AR apps specially designed for libraries, but they are seldom found in practice. To identify whether there is potential for AR apps to be applied in libraries, the results of a qualitative study that has been performed among librarians working in public and scientific libraries in Austria and experts in augmented reality are presented. Searching for media, navigating to the correct location and displaying ancillary information, like ratings, reviews, secondary media, links, etc., has the highest potential for users according to the experts. AR apps for maintaining the bookshelfs of a library provide real benefit for librarians and are awarded high potential as well. Guided tours through libraries using AR-based apps lightens the load of the librarians to introduce new users to the library. The feasibility of an AR app for a library is demonstrated by introducing a prototype that supports library users with additional information on media and the library itself.

Assessing the state of the bookselling infrastructure by creating an interactive map of the country’s bookstores in order to identify the potential for its development and search for ways to optimize it is an important factor in improving the information exchange of the book industry. The article analyzes the results of the first stage (2023) of monitoring bookselling enterprises in the Siberian-Far Eastern region within the framework of the project “The map of bookstores of Russia” (“The Cultural Map of Russia. Literature. Reading”). The research methodology is based on a combination of comparative typological analysis of monitoring data and the landscape-reconstructing approach. Statistical data on the number of bookselling facilities and their availability in federal districts and cities of Russia are summarized. The information on the location and number of bookselling facilities in the cities of Siberia and the Far East is studied in detail, leaders and outsiders are identified. The representation of federal, regional, and local network formations and independent bookstores in the region is considered. The activities of leading enterprises operating in the region for many years and recently opened bookstores are evaluated. The all-Russian trends and regional features of the development of the bookselling infrastructure are determined. The analysis of monitoring data for bookselling facilities in Siberia and the Far East showed the following. The modern regional bookselling infrastructure, along with its inherent all-Russian features, is characterized by: expansion and strengthening of the position of the federal bookselling network “The City of Read”; significant growth of the Internet channel due to the ongoing consolidation of the main players and the growing popularity of marketplace platforms. At the same time the bookselling infrastructure has a number of regional features. They are the reduction in the activities of the oldest regional network formations, successful adaptation and expansion of local large and medium-size network formations; the emergence and successful operation of special children’s bookstores-clubs, as wekk as club-backroom format stores.

Dissemination and updating advisory bibliographic resources on scientific knowledge, promoting a deep understanding of scientific problems by the public are becoming most important tasks of the library. The purpose of the article is to show the possibility of using messages from the mass media as one of the sources for creating such bibliographic resources. The author presents the results of monitoring 146 Russian media using the Medialogy database (69 federal, 77 regional), conducted in March – April 2023. These analyzed media reports have allowed the identification of objects (organizations, persons, project names) involved in the communication of science and society. As a result of the study, a list of 334 messages served as the most notable informational occasions has been formed. These messages can be the objects of bibliographic description, as well as factual information for creation advisory bibliographic resources (lists, reviews, newsletters, digests, databases, guidebooks) aimed at increasing public awareness of the development of science and disseminating scientific literacy.

Information and communication technologies affect the library performance as a public good, intended to efficient and complete response to the social agenda of various socio-demographic population groups. The digital gap has an impact on a library within the framework of creation conditions for the social well-being of the population. The role of public libraries is increasing in reducing the digital gap, strengthening the material and technical base, technological infrastructure, identifying digitally disadvantaged groups of population that tend to use library computers and broadband Internet more frequently than those who are more advantaged. Attention is paid to digital inclusion which is considered to be the instrument for solving personal, social and professional needs of representatives of various population groups. The effectiveness of digital inclusion largely depends on the professional competencies of library professionals, on their ability to develop programs for library users to help them assess the digital readiness to enter the digital world. The network approach to training library professionals in digital literacy is characterized as the most flexible form that facilitates translation of positive experience to large groups of library specialists. The importance of partnership in promotion the necessity of digital literacy between public libraries with government authorities, universities, research centers and charitable foundations is stressed.

Citizen science (CS) is a set of practices for organizing scientific research in a wide range of thematic areas using volunteers at various stages of the research process, them being not professional scientists. The article analyzes the activities of foreign libraries in order to implement CS projects. Both academic, research and public libraries abroad are involved in CS. Libraries (as well as archives and museums) are implementing crowdsourcing projects to create digital collections. Libraries help their readers who have decided to become volunteers navigate CS information resources on the Internet; create on their websites guidelines for using the necessary equipment and software to carry out CS projects; advertise, discuss, visualize and place in repositories the data collected by volunteers for such projects.

Journal and book editors in most disciplines are faced with a flood of meta-analyses, which critical reviews have shown are not always of sufficient quality. In the short run, editors could give targeted instructions to authors and make specific recommendations to reviewers to ensure that not only meta-analyses but also research syntheses more broadly, published under their watch, meet acceptable publication standards. In order to achieve satisfactory improvements in the long run, editors should foster fundamental changes in the way the publication of negative and non-significant results is handled.

Background: To enlist publishers and journals in promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the United Nations and the International Publishers Association (IPA) launched the SDG Publishers Compact in 2020, and the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) published its Environmental Manifesto, a set of recommendations for journal editors on how to contribute to reducing a journal’s carbon footprint. It is important to monitor the impact of these initiatives on journal policies for developing future recommendations.Objectives: The EASE and the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI) SDG Publishers Compact Fellows developed a survey to assess the progress made by signatories to the SDG Publishers Compact, detect obstacles that prevent other publishers or journals from signing the compact, assess awareness and implementation of the EASE Environmental Manifesto, and identify other initiatives that promote SDGs.Methods: A multi-stakeholder group was formed, which included editors and both commercial and non-profit publishers, to design questions suited to journals and organizations at different stages of sustainability action. The survey was designed using SurveyMonkey, introduced in an online workshop, distributed through mail-ing lists to more than 2000 addresses, and promoted on social networks, and a total of 79 responses were collected and discussed.Results: Most respondents were representatives of smaller journals based in Europe. The majority were aware of the SDGs, but only half were aware of the SDG Publishers Compact, and only 17 (22%) were signatories to the Compact. Lack of awareness was the major reason for not joining the initiative, followed by lack of time or resources. Respondents focused mostly on quality education, and the majority were acting to achieve at least one SDG. Signatories to the compact mostly have a written environmental policy, have appointed an environmental officer, and are acquiring content related to the SDGs and promoting related activities. Non-signatories are also acting to minimize their environmental impact but have not considered the SDGs in their workflows. Both groups mainly do not have a dedicated budget to achieve the SDGs and have not completed a baseline of their activities. Activities undertaken to reach the SDGs had the most effect on community awareness. Half the respondents were members of EASE and were taking actions aligned with the Environmental Manifesto, mostly towards reducing their journal’s carbon footprint, and 25% are fol-lowing other initiatives aimed at achieving the SDGs as well.Conclusions: The survey showed that editors of small academic journals were not aware of the SDG Publishers Compact, although most of them are acting to achieve at least one SDG. Signatories to the Compact are implementing SDGs into their work-flows and practices, which shows the importance of the initiative. Greater efforts should be undertaken to make the editors of smaller journals aware of the Compact, encourage them to become its signatories, and provide them with more resources and metrics for monitoring their activities.

El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar el impacto de la alfabetización informacional sobre la calidad de los proyectos de investigación en una Escuela ISIL, así como demostrar la validez de la hipótesis propuesta, la cual sustenta que la aplicación de un programa de alfabetización informacional mejorará la calidad de los proyectos de investigación de los estudiantes del Instituto San Ignacio de Loyola. El estudio desarrollado se ciñe al enfoque cuantitativo y diseño cuasiexperimental de corte longitudinal aplicado a 60 estudiantes matriculados al curso de Taller de Investigación en esta escuela superior de rango universitario ubicada en la ciudad de Lima. Para el estudio se conformaron dos grupos, uno experimental y otro de control, a quienes se les aplicaron cuestionarios validados antes y después de la implementación del programa y que permitieron medir el nivel de aplicación de las herramientas básicas de la ALFIN como elementos fundamentales del proceso investigativo. Para la medición se diseñó una rúbrica para determinar el nivel de aplicación de los elementos básicos de calidad aprendidos en el curso analizado. Los resultados mostraron que el programa propuesto generó un impacto positivo, no solo en la calidad de los trabajos, sino que las alumnas y alumnos desarrollaron habilidades informativas que les permitieron acceder a información de calidad, así como a su evaluación y uso.

El artículo examina los retos a los que se enfrenta la preservación del patrimonio digital de la humanidad en el contexto de una emergencia mundial provocada por el cambio climático. Una parte importante del patrimonio documental creado o transferido a formatos digitales se conserva en e-archivos que utilizan tecnologías y desarrollan prácticas documentales que generan basura tecnológica y producen gases de efecto invernadero (GEI), cuyo rastro se conoce como huella de carbono. Este artículo, sustentado en una investigación cualitativa, expone las variables asociadas a la preservación digital que tienen un impacto sobre el cambio climático. Asimismo, sugiere la noción del e-archivo sustentable, como un sistema de información social y tecnológica, a través del cual se preservan, a largo plazo y de forma responsable con el medioambiente, los documentos digitales que la sociedad considera esenciales para su comprensión en el futuro.

La sociedad contemporánea se enfrenta al desafío de lidiar con el cambio climático y sus consecuencias en los ecosistemas, las dinámicas sociales y la salud mental. En este contexto han surgido estudios sobre la ansiedad generada por las preocupaciones ambientales y el cambio climático, la cual se denomina ecoansiedad. Debe mencionarse que, actualmente, existen cantidades masivas de datos o big data, las cuales han sido recopiladas y procesadas por instituciones fiables. El objetivo principal de esta investigación es comprender los niveles de ecoansiedad, preocupación y estado emocional fomentados por el acceso a cantidades masivas de datos en torno al cambio climático. La metodología utilizada es de carácter cuantitativo; usamos la Escala de ansiedad por el cambio climático de Clayton y Karazsia (2020), complementada con una Escala emocional ante el cambio climático y una Escala de preocupación ante el cambio climático. Los resultados apuntan a niveles bajos de ecoansiedad y a niveles moderados de preocupación y de estados emocionales, mientras que la dimensión de ajuste conductual es la que presenta los resultados más significativos.

El artículo presenta los resultados de un ejercicio de análisis relacional de los perfiles de egreso de los programas en archivística y bibliotecología, realizado en el contexto del Proyecto de Innovación Curricular que adelanta la Escuela Interamericana de Bibliotecología de la Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia). La pregunta estuvo orientada a indagar sobre las características de los perfiles de egreso, en términos de afinidades y diferencias, de los programas en archivística y bibliotecología en América Latina y el Caribe entre 2021 y 2022. Esto implicó una revisión crítica de los programas y sus capacidades para incorporar tendencias y necesidades del mercado laboral. El estudio utilizó el método de investigación documental y consultó la información publicada de los sitios web de 45 programas en archivística y 81 programas en bibliotecología. Los resultados dan cuenta del análisis de los programas considerando las categorías identificadas con sus respectivos enfoques. Como conclusiones, se destaca la ratificación del núcleo duro de las formaciones centrado en la gestión documental para la archivística y en la organización y tratamiento de la información para la bibliotecología, y la existencia de diferencias más que sutiles en los perfiles con base en su adscripción a una facultad o escuela específica.
