In this research, the Servperf method is used to analyze the quality of health and safety services. The main purpose of this article is to determine the quality level of preventive health and safety services provided in the workplaces within the framework of the perception of the employees who benefit from these services. The questionnaire prepared in accordance with the Servperf method was applied to 412 employees working in various sectors, and the results were classified according to age, gender, education level, sector, and the way of providing (internal & external) services. Descriptive statistics were used in the evaluation of results. The total perceived Servperf score of the health and safety services was 2.84, medium level. As the age and education level of the employees increases, the satisfaction level and Servperf scores of the service quality decrease. The satisfaction score of the construction workers is significantly lower than the other sectors. Satisfaction levels of employees in the workplaces where services are provided internally are higher than those of the workplaces offering external sources. Despite legal regulations related to preventive health and safety services, accidents have not decreased in Turkey. The quality of the service provided by external health and safety units is significantly low. Competition arising from the marketization of occupational health and safety services reduces the quality of the service provided. For these reasons, the number of research aimed at determining the quality of these services should be increased both in Turkey and in the world.

In this study, we introduce a new graph family. Then, we calculate eigenvalues of the adjacency and the Laplacian matrix of this graph family. Moreover, we show that the perfect matching number of this graph family equals to special second order recurrence by hafnian method. For some special kinds of this family, we obtain that the perfect matching number of corresponding graphs equals to some famous number sequences such as Fibonacci, Pell and Jacobsthal numbers. Also, we find energies and obtain upper bounds for Laplacian energies of these graphs.

Theory of social representations says the group affects its member and at the same time the member affects its group. As people interact with each other, they reconstruct the world socially. This mutual interaction leads to a new type of knowledge. This knowledge is called everyday knowledge. Biological sex does not inform us about issues like gender roles, inequality between genders, women in the workplace whereas gender does; because gender is reconstructed. Language has a role in keeping, transferring and even reconstructing the daily knowledge. At this point, initial and basic aim of this study is to investigate social representations of psychology of gender and women in Turkish Novels from early period of Turkey and 2010’s. Second aim is to compare the social representations between the novels of female and male authors within the same period. The last aim is to see the possible changes in social representations by time according to the female authors and male authors. Male gender roles and objectification of men’s body increase; sexism and violence do not change; marginalization of women decreases but the myth of “men as hero” starts to exist by time. On the other hand, female and male authors generally do not differ from each other at the same time period. This study differs from psychological novel analysis and also novel analysis in Turkish Literature since the study is based on Theory of Social Representations and conducted through Thematic Unit Analysis.

The Pell numbers, named after the English diplomat and mathematician John Pell, are studied by many authors. At this work, by inspiring the definition harmonic numbers, we define harmonic Pell numbers. Moreover, we construct one type of symmetric matrix family whose elements are harmonic Pell numbers and its Hadamard exponential matrix. We investigate some linear algebraic properties and obtain inequalities by using matrix norms. Furthermore, some summation identities for harmonic Pell numbers are obtained. Finally, we give a MATLAB-R2016a code which writes the matrix with harmonic Pell entries and calculates some norms and bounds for the Hadamard exponential matrix.

Background: Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a life threatening hyper inflammatory disease. Micro RNAs (miRNA) are about 22 nucleotide-long, small RNAs encoded with genes, and they have regulatory functions in immune response. Objective: To determine the miRNA expression levels of 11 secondary HLH patients, we evaluated the associations of miRNA levels with pathogenesis, clinical presentation, and prognosis of the disease. Patients and Methods: Patients who were diagnosed with secondary HLH from January 2011 to December 2012 were included in this study. We profiled the expressions of 379 miRNAs in plasma of both HLH patients and healthy controls. Patients were evaluated regarding with age, clinical findings, miRNA expresions, laboratory data, treatment, and prognosis, by using descriptive statistics. Results: A total of 11 secondary HLH patients and 11 healthy children were included in this study. miR-205-5p was expressed in all case and controls and expression level of miR-205-5p was found 6.21 fold higher than control group (p=0.01). We detected the second highest expression percent in miR-194-5p with 81% of cases and controls. Expression level of miR-194-5p was found to have 163 fold higher than controls (p= 0.009). miR-30c-5p showed 77% expression percent in cases and controls together. The expression level of this miRNA was detected 9 fold decreased in HLH patients compared to healthy children (p= 0.031). Conclusion: We showed that miR-205-5p, miR-194-5p and miR-30c-5p could be useful plasma biomarkers for HLH. Further research is needed in larger and homogenous study groups, especially for these miRNAs as biomarkers for HLH.

Sillyon was within the ancient region of Pamphylia, and today it is located in the Kocagözler locality of the Yanköy neighborhood of Serik district in Antalya province. The city has preserved its feature of being an important cultural heritage area from past to present with its archaeological, cultural assets, historical values and multi-layered texture. Throughout history, at the point of unification-conflict of cultures and civilizations, Sillyon bears the traces of many civilizations on it. In other words, in light of current data, Sillyon is an example of a multi-layered city that hosts the process of uninterrupted historical settlement from the early Iron Age to the Ottoman period. In this article, the Roman Bridge, which is known as Ayvalıkemer among the people and located on the Koducak Stream, about 1.5 km west of Sillyon, is discussed. The bridge, dated to the Roman Imperial Period, has 3 sections and was built entirely of travertine blocks. The building, which was restored in 2016 with the support of the General Directorate of Highways, is among the strongest examples of bridges in the region. In the study, first of all, the orientation of the building and its entire architectural setup were analyzed. Its historical evaluation was made by comparing it with the contemporary bridges built in Anatolia. Restoration interventions were examined and information about the bridge’s condition before and after restoration was presented. The location of the bridge on the road networks of the Pamphylia Region and its importance for the city were investigated and the connection of Sillyon with the ancient road routes in the region was discussed. It is expected that this article will present a new perspective on both Sillyon research and the ancient transportation network studies in the region.

In this study, the effects of waste steel wire ratios, granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) ratios, and different curing methods on geopolymer concrete (GPC) were investigated. For this purpose, 12 mixtures were produced and eight of them were cured under ambient conditions and the remaining four were cured in an oven. Steel wire ratios and GBFS ratios were added to GPC as 0–1–2–3 % and 0–10–20 % by volume and weight, respectively. As a result of the mixtures, cubes, cylinders, and beams were obtained and these elements were subjected to compression, tensile, and flexural tests. As a result of the tests, the compressive strengths of the specimens were obtained as 8.5 %, 19.7 %, and 24.9 % for ambient curing and 10.4 %, 23.2 %, and 32.2 % for oven curing, respectively, as the steel wire fiber increased from 0 % to 3 %. The maximum compressive strength of the oven-cured specimen with 3 % steel wire fiber was measured as 42.56 MPa. The tensile strength of GPC also increased as the steel wire increased. The highest tensile strength was obtained with 3 % steel wire. In addition, oven curing conditions increased the tensile strength more than ambient curing. The flexural strength (FS) increased by 21.3 %, 29.4 %, and 33.8 % with increasing steel wire ratios of 1 %, 2 %, and 3 %, respectively. The FS was further increased by oven curing conditions and the maximum FS was achieved with 3 % steel wire. In ambient curing conditions, a successful geopolymerization was achieved due to the high calcium content in the samples containing 20 % GBFS. This allowed to obtain similar strengths between ambient curing and oven curing. Although the oven curing values were higher, similar results were obtained for the samples cured in an ambient containing 20 % GBFS. As a result of the study, mixtures containing 3 % steel wire and 20 % GBFS provided sufficient strength without oven curing and increased the usability of GPC under ambient conditions.

Varroa destructor mite poses a serious problem for the future of bee populations around the world. Today, there are many commercial drugs with the same and different active ingredients on the market to chemically control over of Varroa destructor. More frequent chemical applications for against Varroa destructor increases stress resilience, colony losses, loss of yield and residue problems in bee products. The scope of this project is aimed to determine the appropriate control method of Varroa by investigating the efficiency values of the evaporation and dropping methods of Oxalic acid. Experimental area were chosen three different apiaries. 28 colonies were determined in each apiary and equalization studies (area with brood, number of bees with bees, age of queen bees, honey, pollen, etc.) were carried out in these colonies. The determined colonies were randomly divided into 4 groups as 7 colonies. The first group is the control group, the second group is applying 2 g of oxalic acid by vaporizing, the third group is 4% oxalic acid 5 ml of sugar syrup (1:1) is dropped between the frames, and in the fourth group, the fight against a drug that is determined by the beekeeper in the market without interfering with the beekeeper. In order to evaluate the data, samples were taken for four periods, before and after spraying in spring and autumn. While the varroa measurements in the group of syrup, vapor and spraying were found to be statistically less than the control group, the syrup, vapor and spraying groups were statistically similar in terms of varroa measurements. Oxalic acid syrup application showed higher efficiency in spring and autumn than vapor application. There is no statistically difference between both two-application method reveals that it can be used as an effective and safe alternative to chemical control against varroa.

During archaeological excavations at Andriace, the harbour of Myra, an honorific inscription was discovered in front of the quay structure just north of the granarium (horrea Hadriani). It was prepared by Arrius Paetus Themistius, the praeses of Lycia province, to honour the Roman emperor Jovian with a statue. The discovery provides new information about Themistius, who was introduced to us only by the sophist Libanius, including his tria nomina and unexplored service period in Lycia. It has also led to reconsidering the tenure of the praesidatus of two uiri clarissimi, Themistius and Sozomenus. In this context, addenda et corrigenda are proposed for another honorific inscription to emperor Julian in Andriace. Finally, the administrative importance of Myra and Andriace in Lycia during the 4th century is presented.

INTRODUCTION: Silent ischemic lesions(CIL) frequently occur after carotid artery stenting(CAS) and are associated with poor long-term prognosis. The effect of blood triglyceride (TG) level on CIL after CAS is yet clear. We investigated the effect of serum TG level on post-procedure CIL in patients undergoing CAS. METHODS: 57 patients who underwent CAS were included in the study, and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging was conducted before and after CAS. The primary endpoint was new CILs after CAS. The effects of pre-procedural TG, total cholesterol, HDL, and LDL levels on the primary endpoint were investigated. RESULTS: Of the patients 46 (80.7%) were male, median age was 69(60-73) years, and 27 (47.3%) were symptomatic. After the procedure, ipsilateral new CILs were detected in 28 (49.1%) patients. NASCET stenosis %, being symptomatic and using aspirin before the procedure were associated with the presence of new ipsilateral CILs. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, pre-procedural TG level was the only independent predictor of ipsilateral new CILs after the procedure. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Our study reveals that high TG level is an independent risk factor for new CILs after CAS. Since CILs increase the risk for future ischemic events, TG as a simple, inexpensive, effective, and modifiable marker, can provide information for intense medical treatment, early intervention, and the prognosis.

Adenomatoid tumours are benign neoplasms of mesothelial origin that most often occur in the epididymis in men and the uterus or fallopian tubes in women. When the stromal smooth muscle component is prominent, the term leiomyoadenomatoid tumour is recommended. To date, only 10 cases of epididymal leiomyoadenomatoid tumour have been reported. In some cases, coagulation necrosis associated with worrisome regenerative changes can occur and leads to an increase in diagnostic pitfalls such as malignant neoplastic processes. Pathologists should be aware of this entity to avoid misdiagnosis. Herein, we present the eleventh case of epididymal leiomyoadenomatoid tumour in a 59-year-old man.

This paper investigated the effect of freezing-thawing and wetting-drying cycles on the strength and durability of clay soil stabilized with lime and marble powder. The test samples were prepared by adding 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of marble powder, without and with 6% lime to the soil which is a high plasticity clay (CH) according to the Unified Soil Classification System. Unconfined compressive strength tests were performed after 7 and 28 days of curing periods. The durability behavior of the samples was examined by applying freezing-thawing and wetting-drying cycles to the prepared samples. The results of this study show that the presence of marble powder in the soil mixture has an important role in the improvement of strength. An increase in the number of wetting-drying cycles does not decrease the volumetric stability of the samples stabilized with marble powder. The use of lime and marble powder together increased the strength values compared to the natural soil and the use of lime only. It was concluded that the co-use of lime and marble powder had a positive effect on the strength and durability behavior of high plasticity clayey soil.

Objectives: This study aims to compare the outcomes of self-expanding stents (SESs), bare balloon expandable stents (BESs), and covered stents (CSs) in the kissing stent (KS) treatment of aortoiliac bifurcation (AIB) lesions and to identify the predictors of in-stent restenosis (ISR) development. Patients and methods: Between January 2012 and December 2018, a total of 123 patients (108 males, 15 females; mean age: 62.4±9.1 years; range, 37 to 85 years) who had primary KS reconstruction of AIB for symptomatic aortoiliac occlusive disease (AIOD) were retrospectively analyzed. There were 31 patients in the SES group, 56 patients in the BES group, and 36 patients in the CS group. Technical and clinical success, intra- and perioperative complications, determinants of ISR and patency rates were documented. Results: Technical success was achieved in 99.2% of the patients. Clinical symptom improvement was achieved in all three groups (ABI, p=0.45; Rutherford, p=0.35). Median follow-up was 35 (range, 22.5 to 50) months. Primary patency at one and five years were 100% and 82%, respectively for SES, 98% and 88%, for BES, and 92% and 85% for CS (p=0.53). Regression analysis revealed a longer aortic stent length (hazard ratio [HR]: 5.94, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.34-26.25, p=0.035) to be significant determinants of ISR. The receiver operating characteristic curve identified 15-mm as the cut-off value with an area under the curve of 0.644. Primary patency rates for [Turk J Vasc Surg 2021; 30(3.000): 190-8]

In this study, Desertifilum tharense cyanobacteria, which has energy generation potential, was firstly isolated from the water sources from Denizli/Turkey, the culture-specific parameters were identified, characterization analyses were performed, and the production in photoreactors under laboratory conditions was performed. D. tharense cyanobacterium was subjected to a high temperature–pressure pretreatment process (HTPP) to increase methane production efficiency, and the pretreatment process was optimized for methane production. D. tharense had a total carbon (C) content of 50.2% and total organic carbon content (TOC) of 48.9%. The biochemical methane potential (BMP) of the raw D. tharense sample was measured as 261.8 mL methane (CH4) per gram of volatile solids (VS). In order to investigate the effects of HTPP and to determine the optimum process conditions, Central Composite Design (CCD) approach-based Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used. BMP values of the samples treated with HTTP were measured in the range of 201.5–235 mLCH4 gVS−1 and lower than the raw sample. These results revealed that the HTPP is not suitable for the production of biofuel methane from D. tharense. The optimization of the HTPP was carried out by Design Expert software. For maximum BMP production, the software proposed a reaction temperature of 200 °C and a reaction time of 20 min as optimum conditions. With the proposed model, it was estimated that 227.1 mLCH4 g VS−1 methane could be produced under these conditions, and 211.4 mLCH4 g VS−1 methane was produced in the validation experiment. It was determined that D. tharense cyanobacterium could be used as a suitable biomass source for methane production. However, it was not necessary to use the HTTP as a pretreatment process prior to the methane production.

Medicine - Abstract
Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive disease charac-terized by recurrent fever episodes and polyserositis. The most important complication is amyloidosis. Nonamyloidotic nephropathy in FMF is poorly documented. Besides amyloidosis, different types of glomerulonephritis may rarely be seen in FMF patients. A 24-year-old male patient followed up due to FMF was evaluated for macroscopic hematuria and acute kidney injury. The patient was diagnosed as immunoglobulin A nephropathy with renal biopsy. The patient gave a good response to colchicine and steroid treatment. The case reports in the literature about the treatment of the patients with association of FMF and glomerulonephritis are insufficient, and there are no satisfactory epidemiological and treatment outcome reports.

In the present work, we define harmonic complex balancing numbers by considering well-known balancing numbers and inspiring harmonic numbers. Mainly, we investigate some of their basic characteristic properties such as the Binet formula and Cassini identity, etc. In addition, one type of symmetric matrix family whose entries are harmonic complex balancing numbers is constructed. Additionally, some linear algebraic properties are obtained. Furthermore, some inequalities are stated by exploiting the well-known inequalities between various matrix norms. Finally, we illustrate the results with some numerical examples.

Recently, there has been huge interest to a new numeric set, which brings together three numerical systems: complex, hyperbolic and dual numbers, called as hybrid number. Motivated and based on the importance of this system, we apply the definition of hybrid numbers to Perrin numbers and introduce Perrin hybrid numbers and examine some properties of them. In other words, we obtain their some properties such as Binet-like-formula, partial sums, generating functions, etc. Also we investigate some similar properties with Padovan hybrid sequence. Risk scoring methods applied in risk assessments used in Turkey, differ from each other in terms of analysis methods, scoring the risks, presumption and sensitivity levels. This article aims to eliminate the effects of divergent results of different risk analyses of lifting equipments used in the building industry and develop a practical hybrid risk analysis and ranking method. In this study risks of lifting equipments used in the building industry were scored by conventional Fine-Kenney risk analysis method first. Secondly, with the experience of previous accidents on construction sites, the reasons of accidents were sorted into 7 main criteria, which being ‘Demographic’, ‘Behavioral’, ‘Machine Related’, ‘Working Environment Related’, ‘Economical’, ‘Administrative’ and ‘Organizational’ criteria and related sub-criteria. Developing these criteria was supported by the experience of inspections carried out by labour inspectors. The weighted scores of these criteria were calculated by AHP method using a questionnaire applied to 14 experienced labor inspectors. The weighted scores obtained by the AHP method were multiplied by the scores obtained by Fine-Kinney risk assessment method and a new integrated risk assessment and ranking application was introduced. With this application, a different priority rank was created and which risk to be eliminated primarily was determined.

In this paper, we consider an approach based on the elementary matrix theory. In other words, we take into account the generalized Gaussian Fibonacci numbers. In this context, we consider a general tridiagonal matrix family. Then, we obtain determinants of the matrix family via the Chebyshev polynomials. Moreover, we consider one type of tridiagonal matrix, whose determinants are Horadam hybrid polynomials, i.e., the most general form of hybrid numbers. Then, we obtain its determinants by means of the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind. We provided several illustrative examples, as well.

Presently described is the case of a 41-year-old male patient with signs of high-output right heart failure (HF) due to a possibly iatrogenic arteriovenous fistula (AVF) between the left common iliac artery and the left common iliac vein. Invasively evaluated hemodynamic measurements were consistent with severe shunting, which resulted in precapillary pulmonary hypertension (PH). The AVF was successfully closed with a non-dedicated, 16-mm Amplatzer patent ductus arteriosus occluder (St. Jude Medical, Inc., St. Paul, MN, USA). Although his signs and symptoms were documented to be dramatically improved after closure, because mild PH persisted, adjuvant pulmonary arterial hypertension-targeted treatment with bosentan was initiated to prevent late pulmonary vascular disease.

It is known that the hybrid numbers are generalizations of complex, hyperbolic and dual numbers. Recently, they have attracted the attention of many scientists. At this paper, we provide the Euler’s and De Moivre’s formulas for the 4×4 matrices associated with hybrid numbers by using trigonometric identities. Also, we give the roots of the matrices of hybrid numbers. Moreover, we give some illustrative examples to support the main formulas.

Ecstasy (MDMA; 3,4-methylenedioxymethylamphetamine) is an illicit drug that has been increasingly abused by young people. Its effects include euphoria, enhanced sociability and heightened mental awareness. These come about via the increase of serotonin in both the central nervous system and the sympathetic nervous system. Despite the drug’s prevalent abuse, serious or adverse effects are rare. Due to personal pharmacokinetics, effects from the same dosage vary according to the individual. Fatal instances may include acute hyponatremia, hyperthermia (>42 °C), disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) resulting from hyperthermia affecting the kidneys, and non-traumatic rhabdomyolysis. However, it is seldom the case that hyponatremia and hyperthermia co-exist. Hyponatremia is thought to be caused by HMMA – a metabolite of MDMA. Hyponatremia is caused by the inappropriate secretion of arginine vasopressin (AVP) and the excessive intake of hypotonic liquid accompanied by increased hyperthermia. Symptomatic, even deadly hyponatremia is seen more frequently in females, with the effects of oestrogen on arginine vasopressin believed to be the cause. Onset in such cases is acute, and treatment should be given to symptomatic patients as quickly as possible, with 3% saline administered when necessary. Reasons for acute kidney injury may include rhabdomyolysis, malign hypertension, and necrotizing vasculitis.
