Nano-scale separation techniques (NSTs) offer significant advantages in relation to drug analysis in a wide range of samples. NSTs, including low flow rate LC systems or capillary or chip based electrophoresis/electrochromatography systems, have become the primary tool for advanced drug analysis, and indispensable technology for sensitive and selective drug analysis. In recent decades, significant advances have been achieved using NSTs for drug analysis. In this review, sample preparation strategies, new advances and applications in NSTs and the contribution toward forensic science applications were reported. In addition, some recent and selected applications with or without mass spectrometry (e.g., low resolution/high resolution -MS) are summarized.

Introduction. Patients with leukaemia are exposed to infections as long as they are neutropenic. During this period, anorectal pathologies are among the common foci of infection with high mortality. We aimed in this study to investigate the factors that may have a predictive effect for early diagnosis and rapid intervention in perianal complications occurring in neutropenic patients diagnosed with leukaemia. Materials and Methods. A total of 90 patients with acute leukaemia, including 45 patients with anorectal pathology and 45 patients without anorectal pathology, were analysed. Kurumların başarısı ve sürdürülebilirliği; çalışan motivasyonu, üretkenlik, işbirliği, uyum ve yetenek gibi çeşitli faktörlere bağlıdır. Rekabet avantajı için hayati öneme sahip olan çalışanların kurumlarıyla uyumlu olması, güçlendirilmesi ve motivasyonlarının artırılması kurumlar için büyük önem taşıyor. Çalışanların motivasyonu, birbirleriyle uyumu ve güçlendirilmesi, bağlılık, üretkenlik ve adanmışlık düzeylerini etkileyen önemli faktörlerdir. Bu bağlamda örgütlerde kişi-örgüt uyumu, çalışan motivasyonu ve çalışanların güçlendirilmesi literatürde önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Bu önem dolayısıyla kişi-örgüt uyumu ve işgören motivasyonunun ilişkili olması ve bu ilişkide personel güçlendirmenin aracı rolü çalışmanın amacını oluşturmaktadır. Bu kapsamda 237 kamu görevlisinden anket yöntemiyle elde edilen veriler SPSS 24 paket programı ile analize tabi tutulmuştur. Analizler sonucunda; kişi-örgüt uyumunun personel güçlendirme ve işgören motivasyonu üzerinde pozitif bir etkisinin olduğunu ortaya çıkmıştır. Aynı zamanda personel güçlendirmenin de işgören motivasyonu üzerinde anlamlı ve pozitif bir etkisinden söz edilmektedir. Ayrıca personel güçlendirmenin kişi-örgüt uyumu ile işgören motivasyonu ilişkisinde aracı rol oynadığı ortaya konmuştur. Bu nedenle, bu çalışma, işletmelerin personel güçlendirmeyi kullanarak çalışanlarının kişi-örgüt uyumunu artırabileceğini ve işgören motivasyonunu artırarak işletme performansını iyileştirebileceğini göstermektedir. Araştırma, bu özel moderatörü ele alarak literatüre katkıda bulunmayı ve endüstriyel kuruluşlardaki yönetim için pratik çıkarımlar sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır.

In this study, the physicochemical properties of canola and waste cooking oil biodiesels, as well as various binary biodiesel blends, were investigated according to TS EN 14214 and ASTM D 6751 standards. Critical parameters such as density, kinematic viscosity, cold filter plugging point (CFPP), calorific value, flash point, copper strip corrosion, water content, and ester yield were evaluated. The findings highlighted the notable density of C100 and W100 biodiesels, with the addition of butanol reducing density. While viscosity values adhered to standards, the addition of butanol was observed to decrease viscosity. CFPP values indicated compliance with standards only for C100 and C75W25. Flash points of C100 and W100 biodiesels met standards, but the addition of butanol to binary biodiesel blends lowered flash points. Copper strip corrosion values were determined to comply with standards for all fuels. Calorific values demonstrated the prominence of C100 and W100 biodiesels, with the addition of butanol observed to decrease calorific values in binary biodiesels. While water content favored canola biodiesel over waste cooking oil biodiesel, the addition of butanol to binary biodiesels increased water content. Regarding ester yield, C100 biodiesel exhibited the highest yield, and the addition of butanol to binary biodiesels increased ester yield. In conclusion, this study thoroughly analyzed the physicochemical properties of biodiesel and blend fuels, revealing the impact of butanol addition on these properties.

Aim: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a clinical syndrome that can cause disturbances in fluid-electrolyte and acid-base balance, resulting in the accumulation of nitrogen and uremic toxins along with the loss of kidney functions within hours or days. In this study, it was aimed to retrospectively examine patients with acute kidney injury to determine whether there is a relationship between infection parameters and urine volume. Materials and Methods: The study included a total of 144 patients with (n=74) and without infection (n=70) out of 294 patients with AKI who received treatment between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2021 in the nephrology clinic of a tertiary university hospital. Results: The mean age was 66.4±15.7 (range:19-95) in patients with infection and 63.8±15.2 (range:36- 93) in non-infected patients. 51.4% (n=38) of those with infection and 52.9% (n=37) of those without infection were women. There was no difference between the individuals with and without infection in terms of age and gender (p>0.05). Infection was present in 51.4% (n=74) of the patients included in the study. Urinary tract (31.3%) and respiratory tract infections (13.2%) were the most common in those with infection. A moderate negative correlation was observed between admission CRP and discharge creatinine level in patients with infection. There was no correlation between PCT and sedimentation rate, urine volume and admission/discharge creatinine level. Moderate positive correlations were found between admission/discharge PCT and admission/discharge urine volume in patients without infection. In addition, moderate negative correlations were found between admission/discharge sedimentation rate and admission urine volume. Conclusions: No correlation was found between PCT and sediment (incoming/exit) and outflow urine volume in patients with infection.

Objective: The systemic immune inflammation index has been considered a novel prognostic biomarker in several malignant tumors. The aim of the current study was to determine the association between the systemic immune inflammation index and prognosis of patients with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma. Material and Method: The study included 101 patients diagnosed diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the optimal cut-off value of the systemic immune inflammation index for predicting survival. Results: The results of ROC curve analysis showed a cut-off value for the systemic immune inflammation index of 500. No statistically significant difference was determined between the groups with systemic immune inflammation index ≤ 500 and >500 groups in respect of overall-survival and progression-free survival. The mortality risk was determined to be significantly higher in patients with systemic immune inflammation index ≤ 500 (p:0.017). There was no significant relationship between the systemic immune inflammation index values and lactat dehydrogenase, age, R-IPI risk groups,ECOG performance status, and disease stage. Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrated that there is no association between the systemic immune inflammation index and survival in patients with diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Larger prospective studies are needed to investigate the association between the systemic immune inflammation index and Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma.

Background Migraine is associated with several genetic or acquired comorbidities. Studies conducted in recent years emphasize that the frequency of thrombophilia is high in migraine, especially migraine with aura (MA). Similarly, the presence of white matter lesions (WMLs) on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans has been associated with migraine for many years.

Lead (Pb) is a hazardous metal that poses a significant threat to both the environment and human health. The presence of Pb in food products such as honey can pose a significant risk to human health and is therefore important to detect and monitor. In this study, we propose a voltammetric detection method using molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) electrodes to detect Pb (II) ions in honey. Pb (II) ion-imprinted amino acid-based nanoparticles with magnetic properties on a carbon paste electrode (MIP-CPE) were designed to have high sensitivity and selectivity towards Pb (II) ions in the honey sample. Zetasizer measurements, electron spin resonance, and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize magnetic polymeric nanoparticles. The results showed that the voltammetric detection method using MIP-CPE was able to accurately detect Pb (II) ions in honey samples with a low detection limit. The proposed method offers a simple, rapid, cost-effective solution for detecting Pb (II) ions in honey. It could potentially be applied to other food products to ensure their safety for human consumption. The MIP-CPE sensor was designed to have high sensitivity and selectivity towards Pb (II) ions in the honey sample. The results showed that the technique was able to deliver highly sensitive results since seven different concentrations were prepared and detected to obtain an R2 of 0.9954, in addition to a low detection limit (LOD) of 0.0912 µM and a low quantification limit (LOQ) of 0.276 µM. Importantly, the analysis revealed no trace of Pb (II) ions in the honey samples obtained from Cyprus.

Microbial colonization on various surfaces is a serious problem. Biofilms from these microbes pose serious health and economic threats. In addition, the recent global pandemic has also attracted great interest in the latest techniques and technology for antimicrobial surface coatings. Incorporating antimicrobial nanocompounds into materials to prevent microbial adhesion or kill microorganisms has become an increasingly challenging strategy. Recently, many studies have been conducted on the preparation of nanomaterials with antimicrobial properties against diseases caused by pathogens. Despite tremendous efforts to produce antibacterial materials, there is little systematic research on antimicrobial coatings. In this article, we set out to provide a comprehensive overview of nanomaterials-based antimicrobial coatings that can be used to stop the spread of contamination to surfaces. Typically, surfaces can be simple deposits of nanomaterials, embedded nanomaterials, as well as nanotubes, nanowires, nanocolumns, nanofibers, nanoneedles, and bio-inspired structures.

Doğum sonu dönem; fizyolojik, psikolojik ve sosyal değişikliklerin yaşandığı önemli bir dönemdir. Bu değişikliklere uyum sağlamada kadınlar, giderek daha fazla geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp yöntemlerini tercih etmektedir. İlaçların yan etkisinin olması, maliyetinin artması, bebeğine ve kendine zarar vereceği endişesi, kadın ve ailesini giderek daha fazla geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamalarına yöneltmektedir. Doğum sonu geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamalarında, annelere en yakın kişi olan ebelere önemli görevler düşmektedir. Bu derleme, doğum sonu dönemde geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp yöntemleri ile ilgili ebeler başta olmak üzere, tüm sağlık profesyonellerini bilgilendirmek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır.

Amaç: Çalışma, fizyolojik sarılığı olan ve olmayan yenidoğan annelerinin emzirme öz yeterlilik ve yetersiz süt algısının belirlenmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ve ilişki arayıcı olarak planlanan araştırma, Türkiye’nin Batı bölgesinde bulunan bir Devlet Hastanesi’nde fizyolojik sarılık tanısı almış ve almamış 240 yenidoğan annesi ile gerçekleştirildi. Araştırmanın verileri “Anne ve Bebeği Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu”, “Postpartum Emzirme Öz Yeterlilik Ölçeği (PEÖYÖ)” ve “Yetersiz Süt Algısı Ölçeği (YSA)” ile toplandı. Verilerin analizinde Shapiro Wilk testi, t testi, Spearman korelasyon, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis analizleri ve Ki-Kare testi kullanıldı. Çalışmanın her aşamasında etik ilkelere bağlı kalındı. İstatistiksel anlamlılık p< 0,05 olarak kabul edildi. Bulgular: Fizyolojik sarılığı olan yenidoğan annelerinin PEÖYÖ puan ortalaması 60,79±7,85, YSA ölçek puan ortalaması 42,19±7,25; fizyolojik sarılığı olmayan yenidoğan annelerinin PEÖYÖ puan ortalaması 63,96±5,75, YSA ölçek puan ortalaması 42,83±7,73 bulundu. Abstract As in many countries, there is neither a surveillance system nor a study to reveal the hemodialysis (HD) related infection rates in Turkey. We aimed to investigate the infection rate among HD outpatients and implement CDC’s surveillance system. A multicenter prospective surveillance study is performed to investigate the infection rate among HD patients. CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) dialysis event (DE) protocol is adopted for definitions and reporting. During April 2016–April 2018, 9 centers reported data. A total of 199 DEs reported in 10,035 patient-months, and the overall DE rate was 1.98 per 100 patient-months. Risk of blood culture positivity is found to be 17.6 times higher when hemodialysis was through a tunneled catheter than through an arteriovenous fistula. DE rate was significantly lower in patients educated about the care of their vascular access site. Staphylococcus aureus was the most causative microorganism among mortal patients. Outcomes of DEs were hospitalization (73%), loss of vascular access (18.2%), and death (7.7%). This first surveillance study revealed the baseline status of HD related infections in Turkey and showed that CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) DE surveillance system can be easily implemented even in a high workload dialysis unit and be adopted as a nationwide DE surveillance program.

Introduction Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were declared as pandemic by World Health Organization. With this study, we aimed to define our patients who were followed up with malign or benign hematological diagnoses and diagnosed with COVID-19; determine the distribution of this infection in patient groups and contribute to the literature by creating descriptive statistics with its clinical and demographic features. Patients and methods: It is planned to retrospectively examine patients with a history of COVID-19 who were followed up in Hematology Department of Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital with benign and malignant diagnoses. Results: 88 patients who had COVID-19 infection while being followed in our clinic due to hematological diseases were included in the study. 77 patients had been followed by hematologic malignancies and 11 patients had been followed by benign hematological disease.In the group with malignancy, COVID was found most frequently in patients diagnosed with Philadelphia chromosome negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (22%), nonhodgkin lymphoma (19%) and multiple myeloma (16%). ITP (64%) was the most common disease in patients with benign hematological disorder who had COVID history. 52 (67%) of the malignant cases and 8 (73%) of the bening cases were found to be followed up with the disease in remission. The all patient's most common symptoms at COVID-19 diagnosis were fever (77%), cough (70%) and weakness (65%). 45% of the patients were isolated at home, 48% were required hospitalization. 49% of patients had mild; 27% had moderate and 24% had severe COVID-19 infection. Almost all of the patients in the moderate and severe disease group were followed up in patients diagnosed with malignant hematological disease. 16 (18%) patients received mechanical ventilation and 16 (18%) patients was transferred intensive care unit. All of the patients who were intubated and needed intensive care were diagnosed with malignant hematological disease. 17 patients died due to COVID-19 infection. The mortality rate was 22% in patients with diagnosis of malignant hematological diseases, and 19% when all patients (malignant and bening) were included. Conclusion: In conclusion, the COVID-19 pandemic is a problem all over the world. Determining the course of the disease in certain diagnostic groups is important in the management of both the main disease and the COVID-19 infection. Therefore, the contribution of such recording studies to the literature is important and valuable.

Introduction Predictive parameters that can affect the course of this infection have been the main topic of research since the beginning of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic. Since the discovery of blood groups, the effect of these on infectious diseases has always been of interest. Objectives To analyze the effect of ABO blood group on mortality, hospitalization duration and hematological and cytokine storm parameters in patients with COVID-19. Patients and methods: This retrospective study was conducted on 140 patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Demographic characteristics, laboratory parameters including ABO blood group, complete blood count (CBC) parameters, biochemical tests, cytokine storm parameters, duration of hospitalization, and final status (discharge or death) were recorded. Results: The 140 patients included in the analysis comprised 72 (51.4%) males and 68 (48.6%) females with a mean age of 66.3±14.0 years. . Age and gender, hospitalization duration and mortality rates were similar in all blood group types. Only D-dimer levels were found to be higher in blood group A compared with other blood groups. Conclusion: Although no difference in mortality was determined between groups, the D-dimer level was statistically significantly higher in COVID-19 patients with A blood group. Larger studies are needed to reflect D-dimer levels on the clinical course of infection, and thus on daily practice.

Nanoscale separation techniques (Capillary/nano-LC, CE, CEC and Chip based LC/CE/CEC) present a prospective trend in modern analytical chemistry due to allowing high speed analysis, low reagent consumption, high separation efficiency and green chemistry. These techniques are miniaturized techniques offering unique advantages over conventional ones in bioanalytical science and technology, and are gaining ground in a wide research area (e.g. omics, foods, cell structures). These systems are also promising tools for the analysis of very limited samples, especially in omics, and forensic sciences. Focusing on nanoscale separation-based techniques, this review presents recent research on the use of nano-columns. Special attention is given to recent achievements based on nanoscale separation techniques while their potentiality is discussed. Some recent and selected applications with or without mass spectrometry (e.g., low resolution/high resolution -MS) in the period of 2019-to present are also reported.

Objective: Cancer is a well-known condition associated with its treatment and follow-up and increases the risk of thrombosis. As with solid tumors, the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) is quite high in lymphomas, especially high-grade B-cell lymphomas. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients are the most important part of this group. The aim of our study is to determine the effect of ferritin level at the time of diagnosis on thrombosis in DLBCL patients. Methodology: In this retrospective study, 133 patients who applied to SBU Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital Hematology clinic and were diagnosed with DLBCL were included in this retrospective study. Demographic characteristics, disease-related findings, presence of central venous catheter and laboratory results of the patients were recorded. Results: The median age of the patients included in the study was 63.13±14.85 years. There were 67 female and 66 male patients, stage 1-2: 54 patients, stage 3-4: 79 patients at the time of diagnosis. Thrombosis was observed in 16 of the patients. Median ferritin levels were 357.42 ug/L and 253.07 ug/L, respectively, between the group with and without thrombosis (p:0.026). The ferritin value, which was examined for the presence of thrombosis, was determined as 227 ug/L as a result of the ROC analysis. In the logistic regression analysis, the risk of developing thrombosis was 6.1 times higher in those with a ferritin level ≥227 ug/L. Conclusion: Hyperferritinemia may be an independent risk factor for the development of thrombosis in DLBCL patients. In case of hyperferritinemia in patients, initiation of thromboprophylaxis may be an appropriate approach.

Objective:Temporary loss of consciousness that occurs with temporary global cerebral hypoperfusion is defined as syncope. Infrequent changes can be seen in electroencephalography (EEG) during syncope. These EEG changes and findings are in the form of symmetric slowed-waves, spikes, or spike-wave complexes. In this study, the results and necessity of EEG in patients who applied to the neurology outpatient clinic with the complaint of syncope were evaluated.Method:In this study, the EEG results of 261 patients aged 17-86 years, who were evaluated in the general neurology outpatient clinic with the diagnosis of syncope between September 2018 and March 2019, were retrospectively analyzed. Patients with epilepsy were excluded. Data were obtained considering the demographic characteristics of the patients, comorbidities, the absence of epilepsy diagnosis, and the drugs they used.Results:Of the 261 syncope patients, 77% (n=201) had normal EEG findings, while 16.5% (n=43) had symmetric slowed-waves and sharply-contoured waves, 1.5% (n=4) had sharp and sharply-contoured waves, 1.5% (n=4) had focal slowed-waves, and 3.4% (n=9) had spike, and spike-wave complexes.Conclusion:In the diagnosis of patients presenting with syncope, taking a detailed history and questioning the background, first cardiovascular examination are more instructive than EEG. EEG should be performed in patients who cannot be decided with their clinic. Despite this, if it is still not sure, the diagnosis of epilepsy should be postponed and patients should be called for frequent control.

Here, a molecular imprinting technique was employed to create an SPR-based nanosensor for the selective and sensitive detection of organophosphate-based coumaphos, a toxic insecticide/veterinary drug often used. To achieve this, UV polymerization was used to create polymeric nanofilms using N-methacryloyl-l-cysteine methyl ester, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, which are functional monomers, cross-linkers, and hydrophilicity enabling agents, respectively. Several methods, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and contact angle (CA) analyses, were used to characterize the nanofilms. Using coumaphos-imprinted SPR (CIP-SPR) and non-imprinted SPR (NIP-SPR) nanosensor chips, the kinetic evaluations of coumaphos sensing were investigated. The created CIP-SPR nanosensor demonstrated high selectivity to the coumaphos molecule compared to similar competitor molecules, including diazinon, pirimiphos-methyl, pyridaphenthion, phosalone, N-2,4(dimethylphenyl) formamide, 2,4-dimethylaniline, dimethoate, and phosmet. Additionally, there is a magnificent linear relationship for the concentration range of 0.1–250 ppb, with a low limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.001 and 0.003 ppb, respectively, and a high imprinting factor (I.F.4.4) for coumaphos. The Langmuir adsorption model is the best appropriate thermodynamic approach for the nanosensor. Intraday trials were performed three times with five repetitions to statistically evaluate the CIP-SPR nanosensor’s reusability. Reusability investigations for the two weeks of interday analyses also indicated the three-dimensional stability of the CIP-SPR nanosensor. The remarkable reusability and reproducibility of the procedure are indicated by an RSD% result of less than 1.5. Therefore, it has been determined that the generated CIP-SPR nanosensors are highly selective, rapidly responsive, simple to use, reusable, and sensitive for coumaphos detection in an aqueous solution. An amino acid, which was used to detect coumaphos, included a CIP-SPR nanosensor manufactured without complicated coupling methods and labelling processes. Liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS) studies was performed for the validation studies of the SPR.

Introduction: The human population is aging at an astonishing rate. The aim of this study is to capture a situation snapshot revealing the proportion of individuals aged 65 years and over among inpatients in healthcare institutions in Turkey and the prevalence and type of infections in this patient group in order to draw a road map. Materials and Methods: Hospitalized patients over 65 years at any of the 62 hospitals in 29 cities across Turkey on February 9, 2017 were included in the study. Web-based SurveyMonkey was used for data recording and evaluation system. Results: Of 17,351 patients 5871 (33.8%) were ≥65 years old. The mean age was 75.1 ± 7.2 years; 3075 (52.4%) patients were male. Infection was reason for admission for 1556 (26.5%) patients. Pneumonia was the most common infection. The median length of hospital stay was 5 days (IQR: 2–11 days). The Antibiotic therapy was initiated for 2917 (49.7%) patients at the time of admission, and 23% of the antibiotics prescribed were inappropriate. Healthcare-associated infections developed in 1059 (18%) patients. Urinary catheters were placed in 2388 (40.7%) patients with 7.5% invalid indication. Conclusion: This study used real data to reveal the proportion of elderly patients in hospital admissions. The interventions done, infections developed during hospitalization, length of hospital stay, and excessive drug load emphasize the significant impact on health costs and illustrate the importance of preventive medicine in this group of patients.

Günümüz ekonomisinde birçok çalışan iş-aile çatışmasıyla ilgili sıkıntı yaşamaktadır. İş-aile çatışması meselesi, işgücündeki büyük demografik değişiklikler ve birçok organizasyonun son yıllarda karşılaştığı rekabetçi çalışma ortamları nedeniyle artan bir ilgi görmektedir. İş hayatını ve aile hayatını dengelemek, sadece birey için değil organizasyon için de giderek kritik bir konu haline gelmektedir. Özellikle çağrı merkezlerinde yoğun çalışma koşulları nedeniyle iş-aile çatışması surumu ortaya çıkabilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı çağrı merkezi çalışanlarında iş-aile çatışmasının belirlenmesidir. Bu doğrultuda çalışmanın örneklemini Erzincan ilinde bulunan bir çağrı merkezinde çalışan 287 katılımcı oluşturmaktadır. İş-aile çatışması ve aile-iş çatışması şeklinde iki boyut katılımcıların demografik değişkenleri ile ilişkilendirilmiştir. Çalışmada SPSS paket programı kullanılarak t-testi ve Anova testi gerçekleştirilmiş olup çeşitli sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlardan bazıları şu şekildedir; kadın çalışanların erkek çalışanlara göre ve evli çalışanların bekâr çalışanlara göre daha fazla çatışma yaşadıkları ortaya çıkmıştır.

Objective. Although there are many randomized trials about unprotected left main percutaneous coronary intervention (ULMPCI), there are few data from Turkey. Therefore, we aimed to present the first data about ULMPCI, determine SYNTAX and EuroSCORE II scores, clinical and demographic data of patients; monitor mortality, morbidity and need for revascularization during 1-year follow-up. Methods and Results. A retrospective 1-year follow-up study of 53 patients who underwent ULMPCI was conducted. Primary endpoint was occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE), based on sudden cardiac death (SCD), myocardial infarction (MI), target vessel revascularization (TVR), target lesion revascularization (TLR), stent thrombosis and stroke. Complete revascularization rate was 100%. At 1- year follow-up of the patients, acute coronary syndrome and related cardiac death occurred in 1 (1.9%) of the patients at 8 months, and 1 (1.9%) patient developed restenosis at 9 months. The rate of life without MACCE was 96.2%. A comparison of MACCE rates between diabetic and nondiabetic patients revealed MACCE occurred in 2 patients with diabetes, but this was not statistically significant (p = 0.111). One of these patients was in the low–middlerisk group according to SYNTAX score and the other was in the high-risk group (p = 0.216). Conclusions. In selected patient groups with left main coronary artery disease (patients with low–middle SYNTAX score and high risk of coronary artery bypass grafting surgery, CABG), PCI is a safe and effective treatment option alternative to CABG with high process success and low MACCE rate.

Case report: In this article, we wanted to present our case in which we detected SMZL during examining for defects in coagulation tests and correlated the PT and aPTT elevation with the development of inhibitors against coagulation factors related to this disease. The PT and aPTT values of the patient diagnosed with MZL did not improve in the mixing test, and no other etiology was found. With the second course of chemotherapy, the patient's values improved.

Case report: We wanted to present our patient who was diagnosed with NK/T cell type PTLD after kidney transplantation, to contribute to the literature. Posttransplant lymphoma in NK cell phenotype (EBV unrelated) was detected in biopsy taken from the lesions that developed in mouth 11 years after kidney transplantation. It was detected as stage 1E with the examinations. As a result, early recognition of such rare cases and start treatment and reducing immunosuppressive agents are important

Case report: Bone involvement is rare in DLBCL. 70-yearold patient, applied to the orthopedics clinic dueto knee pain. Kneeprosthesis was planned. During operation suspicious nontumoral lesion with unclear borders was observed. Bone biopsy was taken from the intraoperatively detected lesion and a knee prosthesis was placed. According to PETCT and bonemarrow biopsy results, patient was diagnosed as stage 1E. Awareness of DLBCL with atypical presentation are of great importance in terms of early diagnosis

Objective: Although plasma cell neoplasms occupy a large place in hematology practice, POEMS syndrome is very rare. Serum lambda light chain elevation and polyneuropathy, together with organomegaly, endocrinopathy, and skin lesions are the main components of the syndrome. We share our case, which we diagnosed in our clinic, with the belief that it will contribute to the literature. Case report: A 51-year-old male patient, who had no history of co-morbidity, drug use, or exposure to toxic substances, was started on supportive treatment in February 2021, who first developed the complaint of impotence. Later, he applied to the neurology outpatient clinic with complaints of weakness and weakness in the feet. After detecting polyneuropathy in his evaluation, IgG Lambda monoclonal gammopathy was detected in serum immune electrophoresis in his evaluation for etiology. Methodology: Thereupon, it started to be investigated in terms of plasma cell neoplasms. In the examinations performed, immunoglobulin levels, serum-urine kappa and lambda light chain levels, plasma increase in the bone marrow biopsies and a solitary 3.3 cm sclerotic lesion in the sacral region were detected in the PET-CT of the patient, whose ethology could not be diagnosed. Results: A tru-cut biopsy was taken from the sclerotic lesion of the patient, who was thought to be a plasmacytoma and a 20% monoclonal IgG lambda plasma increase was detected. In his physical examination, it was seen that he had increased lesions (Figure-1) and acrocyanosis (Figure-2) on the skin for the last 3-4 months. The patient's current complaints and laboratory results were evaluated with a preliminary diagnosis of POEMS syndrome (Table-1). Conclusion: POEMS syndrome is a rare disease and its exact incidence is unknown. It is frequently seen in 5-6 decades, with a median age of 51 years, and 63% of cases are male patients [1]. Chronic and excessive production of proinflammatory and other cytokines (IL-1β, TNFα, IL-6, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) etc.), microangiopathy, edema, effusions, increase in vascular permeability, increase in neovascularization are important in the pathophysiology of the disease.

Objective: Congenital dyserythropoietic anemia is a group of diseases characterized by ineffective erythropoiesis and multinuclear erythroblasts, mostly diagnosed in childhood. Although there are 3 main types, type II is the most common. We present our patient with congenital dyserythropoietic anemia, who was not diagnosed until the age of 49, to contribute to the literature. Case report: A 49-year-old male patient was admitted to our hospital with abdominal pain, weakness and yellowing of the eyes. His examinations revealed splenomegaly, cholelithiasis, anemia and hyperbilirubinemia. In the patient's anamnesis, he stated that he had jaundice and weakness since childhood, and that he knew that he had abdominal pain and spleen enlargement with advancing age. Methodology: Bone marrow biopsy was performed to the patient for a different diagnosis and cause. Binuclear erythrobasts were observed in the patient (fig. 1). As a result of the new generation sequencing performed on the patient who was evaluated as familial non-immune hemolytic anemia, c.1733T>C homozygous mutation in exon 15 of the SEC23B gene was detected and a diagnosis of congenital dyserythropetic anemia type II was made Results: Congenital dyserythropoietic anemias (CDA) represent a large group of diseases that mainly result in ineffective erythropoiesis. Morphological changes observed in the bone marrow over a long period of time were its main diagnostic features. Together with 3 main subtypes, they are examined in a total of 5 subtypes. CDA type II is most common. Clinically normal or slightly increased reticulocyte count is characterized by a variable degree of normocytic anemia. Conclusion: Diagnosing CDA cases: It is closely related to the clinician's ability to remember and access genetic tests, especially in advanced ages. Considering that access to genetic tests will increase in the future, many undiagnosed cases may come up. Although our treatment possibilities are limited in the current situation, future treatment methods are promising. However, studies are still needed to understand this disease and its mechanisms.

Nowadays, the changes experienced and strong competition conditions have made it even more difficult for businesses to improve their firm performance. The current period has been changing faster than ever before, and change is the key determinant factor. The ability of companies to survive and to deliver an outstanding performance depends on the importance they attach to the human factor and their intellectual capital management. The aim of the study was to evaluate intellectual capital and firm performance according to the field of activity boundaries of businesses. Therefore, in this study, a questionnaire was conducted to 700 managers from among ISO (Istanbul Chamber of Industry) 1000 companies, and the relationships between intellectual capital and sub-dimensions according to the internationality of companies, human capital, relational capital, structural capital and firm performance and the sub-dimensions, financial performance and non-financial performance were tested using the SPSS package program. As a result of the study, the relational capitals, one of the factors of intellectual capital, and in terms of firm performance, the non-financial performance of companies operating in the international arena were found to be higher compared to companies operating in the national and regional fields.

Arabuluculuk, 2000’li yılların ortalarından itibaren Ortadoğu ve Afrika’da yaşanan sorunların çözümlerinde Katar’ın dış politika stratejisi haline gelmiş önemli bir çatışma yönetimi aracıdır. Küçük bir Körfez emirliği olan Katar, bu dönemde sergilemiş olduğu başarılı arabuluculuk rolüyle dünyada dikkat çeken bir aktör haline gelmiştir. Bu makalenin amacı, Katar’ın Afrika Boynuzu’nda oynadığı arabuluculuk rolünü Darfur, Somali ve Eritre/Cibuti sorunları özelinde incelemektir. Bu faaliyetlerin gerçekleştirilme yöntemleri incelendiğinde kişisel ilişkilerin öne çıktığı ve finansal gücün sıklıkla kullanıldığı gözlenmektedir. Katar'ın arabuluculuktaki çabalarının altında yatan nedenler ve hızla periferik bir devletten küresel bir arabulucuya dönüşümü bu çalışmanın ana araştırma konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Makale, literatür araştırmasına dayanmakta ve Katar'ın Afrika Boynuzu’nda üstlendiği arabuluculuk rolünü analiz etmektedir. Ayrıca, bölgedeki çatışmaların çözümünde arabuluculuk etmeyi amaçlayan aktif dış politikası sonucunda, Katar'ın Afrika Boynuzu’nda etkin bir aktör haline geldiğini savunmaktadır. Makalede, takip mekanizmasının ve kişisel diplomatik ilişkilerin yokluğunun, Katar arabuluculuk çabalarının çatışma çözümünde yetersiz kaldığı sonucuna varılmıştır.

Herein, gold nanoparticles (AuNP)-modified cortisol-imprinted (AuNP-MIP) plasmonic sensor was developed for signal amplification and real-time cortisol determination in both aqueous and complex solutions. Firstly, the sensor surfaces were modified with 3-(trimethoxylyl)propyl methacrylate and then pre-complex was prepared using the functional monomer N-methacryloyl-L-histidine methyl ester. The monomer solution was made ready for polymerization by adding 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate to ethylene glycol dimethacrylate. In order to confirm the signal enhancing effect of AuNP, only cortisol-imprinted (MIP) plasmonic sensor was prepared without AuNP. To determine the selectivity efficiency of the imprinting process, the non-imprinted (AuNP-NIP) plasmonic sensor was also prepared without cortisol. The characterization studies of the sensors were performed with atomic force microscopy and contact angle measurements. The kinetic analysis of the AuNP-MIP plasmonic sensor exhibited a high correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.97) for a wide range (0.01–100 ppb) with a low detection limit (0.0087 ppb) for cortisol detection. Moreover, the high imprinting efficiency (k′ = 9.67) of the AuNP-MIP plasmonic sensor was determined by comparison with the AuNP-NIP plasmonic sensor. All kinetic results were validated and confirmed by HPLC.

Abstract Data on health problems and fatal complications associated with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have consistently been reported. Although immune thrombocytopenia has been associated with multiple viral infections, only few studies have shown its association with COVID-19. Here, we have reported a case series of two cases pertaining to patients diagnosed with COVID-19-associated immune thrombocytopenia, elaborating on the clinical course, management, and response to treatment.

A molecularly imprinted polymer-based pencil graphite electrode (MIP PGE) sensor, modified with gold nanoparticles, was utilized for the detection of dopamine in the presence of other biochemical compounds using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), depending on its strong electroactivity function. The pulse voltammetry methods recorded the highest response. In addition to the high oxidation rate of DA and the other biomolecule interferences available in the sample matrix used, which cause overlapping voltammograms, we aimed to differentiate them in a highly sensitive limit of detection range. The calibration curves for DA were obtained using the CV and DPV over the concentration range of 0.395–3.96 nM in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (PBS) at pH 7.4 with a correlation coefficient of 0.996 and a detection limit of 0.193 nM. The electrochemical technique was employed to detect DA molecules quantitatively in human blood plasma selected as real samples without applying any pre-treatment processes. MIP electrodes proved their ability to detect DA with high selectivity, even with epinephrine and norepinephrine competitor molecules and interferences, such as ascorbic acid (AA). The high level of recognition achieved by molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) is essential for many biological and pharmaceutical studies.

Abstract INTRODUCTION: Sepsis is an important cause of mortality and morbidity, and inflammatory response and oxidative stress play major roles underlying its pathophysiology. Here, we evaluated the effect of intraperitoneal etanercept administration on oxidative stress and inflammation indicators in the kidney and blood of experimental sepsis-induced rats. METHODS: Twenty-eight adult Sprague Dawley rats were classified into Control (Group 1), Sepsis (Group 2), Sepsis+Cefazolin (Group 3), and Sepsis+Cefazolin+Etanercept (Group 4) groups. Kidney tissue and serum samples were obtained for biochemical and histopathological investigations and examined for the C reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells (TREM), and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. RESULTS: The levels of TNF-α, TREM, and MDA in serum and kidney samples were significantly higher in rats from sepsis group than in rats from control group (p < 0.05). Group 3 showed a significant reduction in serum levels of TNF-α, CRP, and TREM as compared with Group 2 (p < 0.05). Serum TNF-α, CRP, TREM, and MDA levels and kidney TNF-α and TREM levels were significantly lower in Group 4 than in Group 2 (p < 0.05). Serum TNF-α and TREM levels in Group 4 were significantly lower than those in Group 3, and histopathological scores were significantly lower in Group 3 and Group 4 than in Group 2 (p < 0.05). Histopathological scores of Group 4 were significantly lower than those of Group 3 (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Etanercept, a TNF-α inhibitor, may ameliorate sepsis-induced oxidative stress, inflammation, and histopathological damage.

Molecularly imprinted polymer-based surface plasmon resonance sensor prepared using silver nanoparticles was designed for the selective recognition of Penicillin G (PEN-G) antibiotic from both aqueous solution and milk sample. PEN-G imprinted sensors (NpMIPs) SPR sensor was fabricated using poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-N-methacroyl-(L)-cysteine methyl ester)-silver nanoparticles-N-methacryloyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester polymer by embedding silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) into the polymeric film structure. In addition, a non-imprinted (NpNIPs) SPR sensor was prepared by utilizing the same polymerization recipe without addition of the PEN-G template molecule to evaluate the imprinting effect. FTIR-ATR spectrophotometer, ellipsometer, contact angle measurements were used for the characterization of NpMIPs SPR sensors. The linear concentration range of 0.01–10 ng/mL PEN-G was studied for kinetic analyses. The augmenting effect of AgNPs used to increase the surface plasmon resonance signal response was examined using polymer-based PEN-G imprinted (MIPs) sensor without the addition of AgNPs. The antibiotic amount present in milk chosen as a real sample was measured by spiking PEN-G into the milk. According to the Scatchard, Langmuir, Freundlich and Langmuir–Freundlich adsorption models, the interaction mechanism was estimated to be compatible with the Langmuir model.

Background and objective: We aimed to investigate biochemical factors affecting coronary collateral circulation development in an elderly population aged 75 years and over. Material and methods: The study group consisted of patients with a prior coronary angiography for stable coronary artery disease (CAD). Patients with total occlusion of at least one vessel were included in the study. Enrolled patients were divided into two groups, good collateral (GC; n = 73) and bad collateral (BC; n = 55), in accordance with the Cohen-Rentop’s classification system. Results: In comparison to the GC group, bilirubin levels were significantly lower (p < 0.001), and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels were significantly higher in the BC group (p = 0.026). Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels were significantly lower in the BC group when compared to the GC group (p = 0.002 and p < 0.001, respectively). Backward elimination stepwise logistic regression analysis identified bilirubin and FPG as variables that strongly predicted the presence of a well-developed coronary collateral circulation and a poorly developed coronary collateral circulation, respectively. Conclusion: Bilirubin and FPG were seemed as the most important factors affecting coronary collateral circulation development in patients with stable CAD who were older than 75 years.

Background We aimed to assess the factors influencing primary care physicians’ (PCPs) approach to adult vaccination in specific risk groups and evaluate the compliance to adult immunization guidelines. Methods This cross-sectional study performed between January 2016 and April 2016 in İstanbul, Turkey. A questionnaire designed to obtain physicians’ demographical data, experience, immunization status, and attitude on prescribing or recommending vaccines for adults in the risk group. Healthy individuals older than 65 and patients suffer from chronic diseases or had splenectomy before are considered as a risk group. The questionnaire was sent via email to a randomly selected group of 1,500 PCPs. The data of 221 physicians who responded emails were recorded for statistical analysis. Results Of the 221 participants (123 women, 98 men), the majority were aged 31–40 years. Their vaccination rates were 74.2% for hepatitis B, 54.3% for seasonal influenza, and 47.1% for tetanus. Background: Patient and parent satisfaction is a significant indicator for the evaluation of quality of care in healthcare systems. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of sociodemographic characteristics on the satisfaction of the parents of newborns admitted in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in maternity and infant disease hospitals. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted on 113 mothers with infants admitted in the NICU of a state hospital in Turkey during April 1-September 30, 2013.Data were collected using sociodemographic questionnaire and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) healthcare satisfaction scale. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics (mean and percentage), T-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: In this study, mean score of maternal satisfaction with NICU services was 65.66±20.01. No statistically significant differences were observed between maternal age, PedsQL satisfaction subscales, and total score of satisfaction. Moreover, statistically significant associations were observed between the following variables: maternal training and total satisfaction, employment status and subscales of PedsQL, technical skills and general satisfaction, and social security status and emotional support. However, no statistically significant differences were observed between the sociodemographic characteristics of newborns, total score of satisfaction, and mean scores of PedsQL satisfaction subscales in mothers. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, level of maternal satisfaction with NICU services was higher than the international average. Therefore, it is recommended that NICU nurses offer sufficient emotional support for both mothers and neonates in this unit and allow mothers to stay with their infants during hospitalization. Furthermore, it is suggested that training programs be implemented on effective communication skills between nurses and patients.

ABSTRACT Aim: A methodological type of study was conducted for the purpose of investigating the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Clinical Learning Environment, Supervision and Nurse Teacher (CLES+T) evaluation scale of the clinical learning environment of students, clinical nurses, and educators. Methods: Sample was comprised of 602 Turkish nursing students with clinical practice experience at the hospital. The CLES+T, developed by Saarikoski, was used for data collection. Language equivalency, internal consistency, item-total correlation, and structure validity were conducted within the scope of the validity and reliability study on the CLES +T scale. Results: It was determined that item-total correlations of four items were lower than 0.30, and those items were removed from the scale as a result of item analysis. The Cronbach’s alpha value of the scale was 0.93-0.99; item total point correlations of the scale varied between 0.45 and 0.66; six factors were identified in the CLES+T factor analysis study, with a total variance explained by these six factors of 64%. Conclusion: According to the findings of the research, the CLES+T Turkish version was found to be a valid and reliable scale, which can be used to evaluate satisfaction of nursing students with their clinical education in Turkey.

Background and objective: Fluid overload is a common and serious problem that leads to severe complications in dialysis patients. We aimed to compare hydration status as measured with bioimpedance analysis (BIA) method in hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients, as well as investigating the association between blood pressure, left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and hydration status. Materials and methods: We examined 43 HD and 33 PD patients. Blood pressure was recorded. In each group, echocardiographic examinations were performed on all patients. Hydration status was assessed using multifrequency bioelectrical impedance analysis. Overhydration was defined as an overhydration (OH)/extracellular water (ECW) ratio of >0.15. Results: The OH/ECW ratio was significantly higher in PD patients compared to post-HD patients. Overhydration was statistically more frequent in PD than in post-HD patients (30.3% vs. 11.6%, P = 0.043). Systolic blood pressure (SBP) in both post-HD and PD groups, and LVMI in the PD group were found to be significantly higher in overhydrated patients than non-overhydrated patients. In multiple linear regression analyses, increased OH/ECW ratio was independently associated with higher SBP and LVMI. Conclusions: Fluid overload may be an even more prevalent and serious problem in PD patients. Overhydration is closely associated with increased blood pressure and LVMI. OH/ECW ratio, a derived parameter of fluid load measured by BIA, was a significant and independent determinant of SBP and LVMI.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the eff ect of peer education on breast self-examination (BSE) knowledge and health beliefs.Methods: The sampling consisted of 180 female students. University students were trained in BSE by the School of Health students with group and individual training methods. Data was gathered in two-stages during a pre-training and one month after training.Questionnaire forms and Champion Health Belief Model scale were used to collect the data.Results: It was found that students’ BSE knowledge increased signifi cantly after the training. Students instructed in groups by their peers showed a much higher degree of BSE knowledge when compared with the BSE knowledge of those taught individually. It was also found that perceived confi dence of the students educated both individually and in groups increased afterward. Study results further revealed that the methods used for peer instruction do not aff ect students’ sub-dimensions of health beliefs diff erently after the education.Conclusion: Peer education eff ected the BSE knowledge and perceived confi dence of the participants. While individual and group education aff ected participants’ BSE knowledge diff erently, neither education method had the same eff ect on health beliefs.

Background & Aim: Nurses are exposed to the changing demands in technology as they execute their patient-related duties in the workplace. Integration of information technology (IT) in healthcare systems improves the quality of care provided. Nursing and midwifery students with prior exposure to computers tend to have a positive influence of IT. This study was carried out to determine the attitudes of the students of nursing and midwifery at School of Health to the use of computers in healthcare. Methods & Materials: The sample was composed of 247 nursing and midwifery students selected by using non-probability sampling method. Survey method and pretest for attitudes toward computers in healthcare scale were used in data collection. Chi-square significance test was conducted in data analysis. Results: About 94.3% of the students were female, 48.6% were graduates of regular high school, 58.7% were students of nursing and 32.8% were 2nd year students. Moreover, 62.6% of the students had a computer, 80.2% took a computer course, 47.0% used the computer for 1-3 h/day, 96% considered computer use necessary for their profession and 96.8% found it necessary for their profession to possess a computer. It was found that 45.3% of the students were enthusiastic view of the potential of computer use in healthcare. Conclusion: There was no significant difference between the nursing students and the midwifery students in terms of attitudes to use of computers in healthcare, whereas a significant relationship was found between computer use in healthcare and the daily duration of daily computer use and whether the students possess a computer. This result is significant in terms of planning, applying, and integrating hospital information systems.

Aims. Sleep disorders have recently become a significant public health problem worldwide and have deleterious health consequences. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common type of sleep-related breathing disorders. We aimed to evaluate anthropometric measurements, glucose metabolism, and cortisol levels in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Materials and Methods. A total of 50 patients with a body mass index ≥30 and major OSA symptoms were included in this study. Anthropometric measurements of the patients were recorded and blood samples were drawn for laboratory analysis. A 24-hour urine sample was also collected from each subject for measurement of 24-hour cortisol excretion. This study aims the preparation of a QCM sensor for the detection of bilirubin in human plasma. Bilirubin-imprinted poly-(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-N-methacryloyl-l-tryptophan methyl ester) (PHEMATrp) nanofilm (MIP) on the gold surface of a QCM chip was synthesized by the molecular imprinting technique. Meanwhile, the non-imprinted PHEMATrp (NIP) nanofilm was synthesized by the same experimental technique to examine the imprinting effect. Characterization of MIP and NIP nanofilms on the QCM chip surface was achieved by atomic force microscopy (AFM), ellipsometry, Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry-attenuated total reflectance (FTIR-ATR) and contact angle measurements (CA). The observations indicated that the nanofilm was almost in a monolayer. Thereinafter, the imprinted and the non-imprinted QCM chips were connected to the QCM system to investigate kinetic and affinity properties. In order to examine the selectivity of the MIP-PHEMATrp nanofilm, competitive adsorption of bilirubin with cholesterol and estradiol was performed. Limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation (LOQ) values were calculated as 0.45 μg/mL and 0.9 μg/mL, respectively.

ÖZ:Bu çalışmada amaç Covid-19 döneminde Twitter ile hisse senedi fiyatları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Bunun için kısıtlamaların yaşandığı 01.10.2020 ile 01.07.2021 tarih aralığında BIST Yıldız Pazar’da yer alan ve imalat-sanayi sektöründen üç şirketin (Akçansa Çimento Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., Coco-Cola İçecek A.Ş., Goodyear Lastikleri T.A.Ş.) hisse senedi günlük kapanış fiyatları ve Twitter üzerinden bu şirketlerle ilgili paylaşılan Türkçe tweetlerin günlük duygu durumu (negatif ve pozitif) dikkate alınmıştır. Tweetlerin duygu analizinde Turkish Bert modelinden yararlanılmıştır. Turkish Bert modeli bir metni negatif ve pozitif olarak duygulara ayırmada %95’in üzerinde bir başarıya sahiptir. Duygu analizi sonucunda şirketler ile ilgili elde edilen negatif ve pozitif tweet sayıları ile günlük hisse senedi kapanış fiyatları arasındaki ilişki Granger nedensellik testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Analizin sonucunda AKCNS hisse senedi getirisi ile negatif tweetler arasında çift yönlü bir ilişki dolayısıyla bu değişkenlerin birbirini etkilediği saptanmıştır. AKCNS hisse senedi getirisi pozitif tweetleri etkilediği fakat pozitif tweetlerden etkilenmediği gözlenmiştir. CCOLA ve GOODY hisse senedi getirilerinin ise sadece pozitif ve negatif tweetleri etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Çalışma, daha önce yerli literatürde Covid-19 dönemi için Twitter ile hisse senedi fiyatları arasındaki ilişki incelenmemesi bakımından yatırımcılara ve işletmelere önemli bilgiler sunmaktadır. ABSTRACT:The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between Twitter and stock prices during the Covid-19 period. Therefore, the daily closing prices of the stocks of three companies (Akçansa Cement Industry and Trade Inc., Coca-Cola Beverages Joint Stock Company, Goodyear Tires T. Joint Stock Company) from the manufacturing-industry sector, in the BIST Star Market between the dates of 01.10.2020 and 01.07.2021, when the restrictions were experienced, and the daily mood (negative and positive) of the Turkish tweets shared about these companies on Twitter was taken into account. Turkish Bert model was used in sentiment analysis of tweets. The Turkish Bert model has a success rate of over 95% in classifying texts into negative and positive emotions. The relationship between the number of negative and positive tweets about companies as a result of sentiment analysis and daily stock closing prices was analyzed with the Granger causality test. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that these variables affected each other due to a bidirectional relationship between AKCNS stock returns and negative tweets. It has been observed that AKCNS stock returns affected positive tweets but not vice versa. CCOLA and GOODY stock returns were found to influence only positive and negative tweets. The study provides important information to investors and businesses, as the relationship between Twitter and stock prices for the Covid-19 period has not been examined in the domestic literature before.

This study aims to investigate the potential relationship between emotional labor and prosocial motivation. The study aims to determine whether such a relationship exists, identify the dimensions of emotional labor influencing prosocial motivation, and assess whether prosocial motivation behavior significantly varies among demographic factors. Data were collected from 345 employees actively working in Turkey through surveys. The collected data were analyzed using statistical software packages SPSS 24 and AMOS 17. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between deep acting and genuine acting with prosocial motivation, while a significant negative relationship is observed between surface acting and prosocial motivation. According to the comparative analyses, prosocial motivation varies depending on marital status. However, no significant differences in prosocial motivation were observed based on gender, age, educational level, and working hours.

Purpose: Coronavirus disease 2019 is a viral disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Clinical and laboratory predictors may provide identification of patients at risk of mortality and guide treatment. This study aims to analyze laboratory parameters in COVID-19 patients and to determine which parameters affect mortality and hospitalization. Materials and Methods: Demographic characteristics, the parameters including complete blood count (CBC) parameters, bio-chemical tests, coagulation parameters, duration of hospitalization, and final status (discharge or death) were recorded in patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Results: This retrospective study was conducted with 101 patients diagnosed with COVID-19. The 101 patients included in the analysis comprised 52(51.5%) males and 49(48.5%) females with a mean age of 65.7±14.7 years. Comparisons were made between survivors and non-survivors at the end of the follow-up period. Multiple analyses showed mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) to be significant predictors of mortality. The cut-off value of the hospitalization period was found to be 10 days; therefore, the patients were divided into two groups. In the univariate and multiple models, no significant independent parameter was observed for the prediction of hospitalization duration. Conclusion: The results of the current study demonstrated that MPV, PDW and LDH were significant independent variables for the prediction of mortality. As SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV are known to use the same receptor, there may be similar structures and receptors for mutant variants and the first variant, so these predictive parameters can be considered effective in mutant variants.
