Sulfide all-solid-state lithium batteries (SASSLBs) with a single-crystal nickel-rich layered oxide cathode (LiNixCoyMn1-x-yO2, x ​≥ ​0.8) are highly desirable for advanced power batteries owing to their excellent energy density and safety. Nevertheless, the cathode material's cracking issue and its severe interfacial problem with sulfide solid electrolytes have hindered the further development. This study proposes to employ surface modification engineering to produce B-NCM cathode materials coated with boride nanostructure stabilizer in situ by utilizing NCM encapsulated with residual lithium. This approach enhances the electrochemical performance of SASSLBs by effectively inhibiting electrochemical-mechanical degradation of the NCM cathode material on cycling and reducing deleterious side reactions with the solid sulfide electrolyte. The B-NCM/LPSCl/Gr SASSLBs demonstrate impressive cycling stability, retaining 84.19 ​% of its capacity after 500 cycles at 0.2 ​C, which represents a 30.13 ​% increase vs. NCM/LPSCl/Gr. It also exhibits a specific capacity of 170.4 mAh/g during its first discharge at 0.1 ​C. This work demonstrates an effective surface engineering strategy for enhancing capacity and cycle life, providing valuable insights into solving interfacial problems in SASSLBs.

Abstract Background Mitochondrial disease (MD) is genetically a heterogeneous group of disorders with impairment in respiratory chain complexes or pathways associated with the mitochondrial function. Nowadays, it is still a challenge for the genetic screening of MD due to heteroplasmy of mitochondrial genome and the complex model of inheritance. This study was designed to investigate the feasibility of whole exome sequencing (WES)‐based testing as an alternative option for the diagnosis of MD. Methods A Chinese Han cohort of 48 patients with suspect MD features was tested using nanoWES, which was a self‐designed WES technique that covered the complete mtDNA genome and 21,019 nuclear genes. Fourteen patients were identified with a single genetic variant and three with single deletion in mtDNA. Results The heteroplasmy levels of variants in mitochondrial genome range from 11% to 100%. NanoWES failed to identify multiple deletions in mtDNA compared with long range PCR and massively parallel sequencing (LR‐PCR/MPS). However, our testing showed obvious advantages in identifying variations in nuclear DNA. Based on nanoWES, we identified two patients with nuclear DNA variation. One of them showed Xp22.33‐q28 duplication, which indicated a possibility of Klinefelter syndrome. Conclusion NanoWES yielded a diagnostic rate of 35.4% for MD. With the rapid advances of next generation sequencing technique and decrease in cost, we recommend the usage of nanoWES as a first‐line method in clinical diagnosis.

To discover candidate biomarkers for diagnosis and detection of human laryngeal carcinoma and explore possible mechanisms of this cancer carcinogenesis, two-dimensional strong cation-exchange/reversed-phase nano-scale liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis was used to identify differentially expressed proteins between the laryngeal carcinoma tissue and the adjacent normal tissue. As a result, 281 proteins with significant difference in expression were identified, and four differential proteins, Profilin-1 (PFN1), Nucleolin (NCL), Cytosolic non-specific dipeptidase (CNDP2) and Mimecan (OGN) with different subcellular localization were selectively validated. Semiquantitative RT-PCR and Western blotting were performed to detect the expression of the four proteins employing a large collection of human laryngeal carcinoma tissues, and the results validated the differentially expressed proteins identified by the proteomics. Furthermore, we knocked down PFN1 in immortalized human laryngeal squamous cell line Hep-2 cells and then the proliferation and metastasis of these transfected cells were measured. The results showed that PFN1 silencing inhibited the proliferation and affected the migration ability of Hep-2 cells, providing some new insights into the pathogenesis of PFN1 in laryngeal carcinoma. Altogether, our present data first time show that PFN1, NCL, CNDP2 and OGN are novel potential biomarkers for diagnosis and therapeutic targets for laryngeal carcinoma, and PFN1 is involved in the metastasis of laryngeal carcinoma.

Background At this stage, cardiovascular disease is still the main cause of death among residents in China, about 10 000 people die from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year, and the survival rate of patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is less than 5%. Early defibrillation has provided a new method and approach for improving the prognosis of patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and reducing the mortality rate. However, the existing research conclusions are still controversial, and there is no relevant systematic review in China. Objective Meta-analysis was used to explore the effect of early defibrillation of on-site first responders on the survival rate of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients. Methods PubMed, The Cochrane Library, EMBase, CINAHL, CNKI, Wanfang Data and VIP database were retrieved by computer from database establishment to October 2021. A case-control study or cohort study of the impact of AED use on the patient's weekly survival and discharge rate in field first responders was collected, quality evaluation of included case-control studies using the Cochrane Systematic Evaluation Method and quality evaluation of included cohort studies using the New Castle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) . Meta-analysis was performed using Revman 5.4 software. Results 12 articles were finally included, covering 29 605 patients. The overall quality of the articles was above the medium level. The results of the meta-analysis showed that, the weekly survival and discharge rate of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients with early defibrillation by first responders on site was higher than that of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients without early defibrillation by first responders on site〔OR=0.47, 95%CI (0.45, 0.50) , P
