The accuracy of reaction theories used to extract properties of exotic nuclei from scattering experiments is often unknown or not quantified, but of utmost importance when, e.g., constraining the equation of state of asymmetric nuclear matter from observables as the neutron-skin thickness. In order to test the Glauber multiple-scattering model, the total interaction cross section of Image 1 on carbon targets was measured at initial beam energies of 400, 550, 650, 800, and 1000 MeV/nucleon. The measurements were performed during the first experiment of the newly constructed R3B (Reaction with Relativistic Radioactive Beams) experiment after the start of FAIR Phase-0 at the GSI/FAIR facility with beam energies of 400, 550, 650, 800, and 1000 MeV/nucleon. The combination of the large-acceptance dipole magnet GLAD and a newly designed and highly efficient Time-of-Flight detector enabled a precise transmission measurement with several target thicknesses for each initial beam energy with an experimental uncertainty of ±0.4%. A comparison with the Glauber model revealed a discrepancy of around 3.1% at higher beam energies, which will serve as a crucial baseline for the model-dependent uncertainty in future fragmentation experiments.

The experimental data collected during the S515 experiment performed by the R3B collaboration at GSI/FAIR represent a great opportunity to investigate nucleon knockout reactions of exotic nuclei in the region of Sn using complete kinematics measurements. These cross sections can be used in the future to investigate the quenching in the knockout of the minority species (neutrons or protons) in nuclei far from stability. Some of the arguments put forward are the underestimation of the knockout of deeply bound nucleons, final state interactions or the role of short-range correlations (SRC). Recently, several works based on inclusive measurements have shown that these SRCs could reduce the single nucleon knockout cross sections by around 50%, depending on the neutron excess (N/Z) of the initial projectile. The S515 data can help us to go further in this investigation because it allows to correlate the knockout cross sections of one, two or more nucleons with the number of protons and neutrons emitted from the target and which can be detected by the CALIFA and NeuLAND detectors, respectively, and perform complete kinematical studies on the nature of the event (SRC, evaporation, emission of clusters, final-state interactions...). Here the results obtained for the charge distribution of reaction residues are presented, which is one of the first steps of the still on-going analysis.

The quasi-free scattering reactions 11C(p,2p) and 10,11,12C(p,pn) have been studied in inverse kinematics at beam energies of 300–400 MeV/u at the R3B-LAND setup. The outgoing proton-proton and proton-neutron pairs were detected in coincidence with the reaction fragments in kinematically complete measurements. The efficiency to detect these pairs has been obtained from GEANT4 simulations which were tested using the 12C(p,2p) and 12C(p,pn) reactions. Experimental cross sections and momentum distributions have been obtained and compared to DWIA calculations based on eikonal theory. The new results reported here are combined with previously published cross sections for quasi-free scattering from oxygen and nitrogen isotopes and together they enable a systematic study of the reduction of single-particle strength compared to predictions of the shell model over a wide neutron-to-proton asymmetry range. The combined reduction factors show a weak or no dependence on isospin asymmetry, in contrast to the strong dependency reported in nucleon-removal reactions induced by nuclear targets at lower energies. However, the reduction factors for (p,2p) are found to be 'significantly smaller than for (p,pn) reactions for all investigated nuclei. The Republic of Serbia applied the booster dose of the following COVID-19 vaccines: BNT162b2 mRNA (Pfizer-BioNTech), Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV (Vero Cell®), Gam-COVID-Vac (Sputnik V) and ChAdOk1 nCoV-19 (AstraZeneca). We aimed to examine the immunogenicity and reactogenicity of the booster dose and identify factors related to immune response and adverse events. Panel study, conducted during August and September 2021, included 300 persons receiving the booster dose at the Institute of Public Health of Serbia. Blood samples were taken on the day of receiving the booster dose, and after 7 and 28 days. When applying homologous regimen, the average increase in anti-spike immunoglobulin G was 8782.2 (after 7 days), 1213.9 after 28 days, while 9179.5 (after 7 days) and 16,728.1 after 28 days of heterologous regimen. Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV (p < 0.001) and Sputnik V (p < 0.001), age 65 and over (p = 0.001) and currently smoking (p < 0.001) were independently associated with lower levels of anti-spike immunoglobulin G. Female sex (OR = 1.77; 95%CI = 1.01–3.12), previous COVID-19 infection (OR = 3.62; 95%CI = 1.13–11.63) and adverse events after the second dose (OR = 2.66; 95%CI = 1.33–5.32) were independently associated with intense systemic adverse events 7 days after. Booster dose significantly increased antibodies titers, especially 28 days after heterologous regimen, without a significant increase in reactogenicity.

The evolution of the traditional nuclear magic numbers away from the valley of stability is an active field of research. Experimental efforts focus on providing key spectroscopic information that will shed light into the structure of exotic nuclei and understanding the driving mechanism behind the shell evolution. In this work, we investigate the Z=6 spin-orbit shell gap towards the neutron dripline. To do so, we employed NA(p,2p)CA−1 quasi-free scattering reactions to measure the proton component of the 21+ state of 16,18,20C. The experimental findings support the notion of a moderate reduction of the proton 1p1/2−1p3/2 spin-orbit splitting, at variance to recent claims for a prevalent Z=6 magic number towards the neutron dripline.

Coulomb breakup of unstable neutron rich nuclei 29,30Na around the ‘island of inversion’ has been studied at energy around 434 MeV/nucleon and 409 MeV/nucleon respectively. Four momentum vectors of fragments, decay neutron from excited projectile and γ-rays emitted from excited fragments after Coulomb breakup are measured in coincidence. For these nuclei, the low-lying dipole strength above one neutron threshold can be explained by direct breakup model. The analysis for Coulomb breakup of 29,30Na shows that large amount of the cross section yields the 28Na, 29Na core in ground state. The predominant ground-state configuration of 29,30Na is found to be 28Na(g.s)⊗νs1/2 and 29Na(g.s)⊗νs1/2,respectively.

Neutron-rich 34,35Al isotopes have been studied through Coulomb excitation using LAND-FRS setup at GSI, Darmstadt. The method of invariant mass analysis has been used to reconstruct the excitation energy of the nucleus prior to decay. Comparison of experimental CD cross-section with direct breakup model calculation with neutron in p3/2 orbital favours 34Al(g.s)⊗νp3/2 as ground state configuration of 35Al. But ground state configuration of 34Al is complicated as evident from γ-ray spectra of 33Al after Coulomb breakup of 34Al.

In this work we have investigated total fission cross section of 181Ta+1H at FRS (FRagment Separator -GSI) at 1, 0.8, 0.5 and 0.3 GeV with an specific setup, providing high accuracy measurements of the cross section values. We compare the results obtained in this experiment, with several calculations performed with the intra-nuclear cascade model (INCL v4.1) coupled to de-excitation code (ABLAv3p), according to two different models describing fission process at high-excitation energies: statistical model of Bohr and Wheeler and the dynamical description of the fission process. The comparison with data of previous experiments is also discussed in order to address the existing discrepancies with this new results.
