One of the most important problems in philosophy of education is known under the name of the paradox of moral education. The hypothesis from which we begin and the validity of which should be proved is reduced to the claim that this paradox arises when the basic categories of philosophy of education, such as autonomy, authenticity and the purpose of education, are assessed in the context of the metaphysics of free will, particularly in relation to the tacit libertarian premise on which these categories are founded. In order to overcome the paradox, this theoretical research examines in what manner Frankfurt’s hierarchical theory may sustain the basic categories of philosophy of education, i.e., in what manner the metaphysics of free will can help in resolving this problem. The interpretation of Frankfurt’s thought experiment and the logical analysis of the arguments in the basis of this theory about the hierarchical structure of the will, as well as examining the conclusiveness of the argument about the dilemma caused by determinism, will be the applied methods which will enable the examination of the proposed hypothesis. The research results will confirm the initial assumption according to which Frankfurt’s insights can be substantially used for overcoming the challenges of the dilemma of determinism and the paradox of moral education by enable us to define differently the key concepts of philosophy of education, which can no longer be affected by (meta)physical assumptions about the order of the world that we accept noncritically and that have conditioned the emergence of the paradox of moral education.

This article sets out to analyse how such a polysemic and subjective concept as the meaning of life can be addressed in educational terms. To do so, it starts from the conceptualisation of the term, framing it in the experiential plane, understanding that this experience develops both internally (rotation) and externally (translation). This is followed by the presentation of two core approaches based on which pedagogical proposals have recently been constructed. The first of these is based on the approach centred on narrative identity in both its classical aspect and its version linked to life history. The second is based on moral development, mainly using dilemmas as a didactic resource. Finally, the article addresses the framing of these considerations within the horizon of current educational philosophy, reflecting on the relevance of the same in the particular framework of its practice.

The article is devoted to the methodological and methodical function of the philosophy of education regarding the variability of the content of modern philosophical knowledge in higher education. The article argues why biophilosophy, as an educational discipline, can be included in educational and educational-scientific programs as a mandatory or optional component. The relevance of the study of biophilosophy for future generations is also asserted, since biophilosophy is a variant of naturalistically oriented philosophy, the conceptual core of which is life, and the content of biophilosophical knowledge covers the philosophy of biology, the philosophy of life and related axiology. It is determined in the work that biophilosophical knowledge contains a potential opportunity to form a worldview in a person with the prevailing ideas of the value and significance of life, to provide a deep awareness of the unity of man and living nature, and therefore to contribute to the comprehensive disclosure of the epistemological, ontological, methodological and axiological foundations of life, on which life is built biological picture of the world. Biophilosophical cognition is interpreted as an intellectual and mental component of personal knowledge (in particular, knowledge about living things) and becomes the basis and source of further relevant cognitive processes (biological knowledge), which stimulates the humanization of human activity, harmonizes human relationships, and is indirectly manifested in the change of people’s attitude to the surrounding world. The conclusions state that biophilosophy in the system of higher education can be a new worldview paradigm for the preservation of human culture and civilization, provided it is popularized through institutions of higher education. Also, biophilosophy, as an educational discipline and a discipline of the new enlightenment, can successfully fulfill one of the main educational tasks: to form in the minds of young people a modern biological picture of the world and a modern worldview.

The article is dedicated to the philosophical analysis of today’s higher education and the grounds and trends of its transformations, both on-going and desirable for the near future. The authors review the current social situation of supercomplexity and argue that under a perspective of unpredictable and changeable world the aim of higher education can no longer be seen in providing certain sets of skills and knowl­edge – instead, in the scope of the dialectics of traditions and innovations, such a situ­ation implies “reinventing” the classical European idea of university that presupposes the all-round development of human personality and education of a cultural person as opposed to the approach based on professional skills only. Following the declara­tions of UNESCO, World Economic Forum and other international organizations on the transformations of higher education, it could be concluded that the foundations of such transformations are that of the classical ideas of humanism. The authors turn to the historical analysis of the humanist ideal in education (as well as of its criticism) since the Renaissance to the present day, especially noting Kant’s ideas as the grounds for understanding humanism as the concept that affirms the universal equality of all human beings, as the idea of the autonomy of a human and his or her rights and re­sponsibility for one’s life and for the objective world, as well as the idea of the prior­ity of universal identity. It is argued that based on such premises the trends for the transformation of higher education could be outlined as institutional transformations of universities towards deformalization, decentralization and humanization, as well as the necessity to develop an open education system based on anticipatory education that has its goal in shaping universal human qualities.

The present theoretical study focuses on reconceptualising the ontological model applied in social pedagogy from an entity-oriented to a distributed model of a dynamically changing network. The paper demonstrates how the novel conceptualisation can address intricate social pedagogy scenarios, including career counselling, defining social pedagogy, environmental grief, identity formation and engagement with social pedagogy target groups or integrating artificial intelligence in teaching. The study aims to introduce this novel way of thinking and acting into social pedagogical theory and practice and demonstrate the advantages of abandoning the entity- oriented approach.

This study aims to exhibit a bibliometric analysis of history education research in Türkiye. A total of 127 documents from 70 sources indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases in the years 2000-2023 were used in the analysis. The analysis provides a review of history education research in Türkiye by identifying the dynamics of research by presenting a wide in-depth knowledge concerning the periodical process, current situation, and future directions. Since 2006, history education studies in Türkiye have become more visible in the relevant databases. The annual increase rate of the studies was determined as 8.49 percent. Among the 127 documents accessed, research articles are the most common with a total of 104 articles. From the analysis, it could be said that history education research in Türkiye is mostly conducted in Turkish journals and by Turkish authors. Compared to international literature in history education, studies on ‘historical consciousness’ in Türkiye that were indexed in WOS and Scopus databases were found to be rare in the analysis. Despite this, it is observed that new approaches have started to be studied within the framework of concepts such as 'oral history', 'postmodernism', and 'museum education' in history education studies originating from Türkiye that were indexed in WOS and Scopus databases. In the analysis, it has been observed that although academic studies in qualified databases originating from Türkiye in the field of history education are not sufficient, they have been on an increasing trend in recent years.

The research solved the socio-philosophical explication of the problem of industrial revolutions in the history of the development of human civilization, focusing on the issues of education development. The content and socio-cultural prerequisites of the formation of Industry 1.0 – 3.0 have been conceptualized in connection with human civilization’s corresponding economic and educational landscapes. The study showed that Industry 4.0 and Education 4.0 are subordinated to it and revolve around developing technologies (in particular, digital ones), focusing on developing scientific and technological progress. The education paradigm of Education 4.0 pragmatically concentrates on the real socio-cultural situation (information technologies expansion, flexibility for labor market challenges, hard and soft skills, etc.). It was demonstrated that the concept of Industry 5.0 is an attempt to deepen the achievements of Industry 4.0, bringing to the fore the idea of human-centeredness and sustainable development. It was shown that the humanization of civilizational progress and technological progress should occur through rethinking the education paradigm, which should act as an essential transit tool in the era of Industry 5.0. The dynamics of the formation of Industry 4.0 and the short-term perspective of the transition to Industry 5.0 naturally require the involvement of the philosophy of education as a tool for formulating modernization steps in the educational sphere, which should be characterized by systematicity and deep futuristic orientation. It was demonstrated that the basic principle for the philosophy of education for Industry 5.0 is the idea that Industry 5.0 successively deploys the technical and economic achievements and principles of Industry 4.0, with a particular emphasis on human-centeredness and the sustainable development of humanity. Education 5.0 is a holistic philosophical theory, educational policy, and a teacher who can implement in practice the principles of Industry 5.0.

Our research focuses on how sociocultural processes can foster responsible citizenship in Ukraine through scientific literacy within an overarching philosophical narrative. In particular, the authors aim to outline various dilemmas, beginning with the ambiguities that science education faces when confronting notions of good citizenship within differing sociocultural contexts. Hence, we focus on the ethical and moral aspects of citizenship within a science education agenda that is not reducible to the learning of scientific facts. We show that it is an essential instrument for developing critical rationality, moral judgment and civic involvement. This agenda is centered around the development of scientific literacy, motivating students to engage in their own auto-didactic pursuit of scientific inquiry. The authors maintain that this sense of curiosity and critical engagement is bound to translate into an ability to make sense of difficult ethical and social Ukrainian terrain as well as positively influence approaches to pedagogical education. We further examine Ukrainian science education curriculum in the context of the broader national and global challenges of attaining scientific literacy as a foundational pillar of any future learning and teaching. More specifically, the authors propose a policy rooted in evidence-based inquiry as a centerpiece of all progressive education to allow students to develop the tools they need to become better informed, active citizens able to bring about positive societal shifts. The findings of our study relate to the call for educational reform in Ukraine through the modernization of both its physical and pedagogical infrastructure. The case is made for creating a strong foundation of scientifically-minded attitudes amongst the well-informed citizenry, which will lead to a generation able to consider and address complex ethical and social issues. The research interprets its results in terms of a broader philosophical and educational discourse with a view as to how military conflicts can affect the producing an informed population able to direct its concerted efforts towards the development of sustainable, equitable progress that serves both the individual and society at large.

The vision of the future is not clear for Ukrainians. However, despite the challenges, we should not lose our prudence regarding the prospects that await us in the post-war world. The war provoked many problems, not the least of which was the loss of human and educational capital due to the mass departure of Ukrainians abroad. The educational category of migrants deserves more careful attention, namely schoolchildren, students, teachers, scientists, etc. This category of citizens of Ukraine is significant for the further existence of Ukrainian identity. This category is an expression of the nation, a guarantee of its further prosperity. Ukraine is currently losing educational capital, not only due to external circumstances but also due to the desynchronization of citizens' values and the formality of the actions of state institutions. No matter how many pompous and pathetic appeals to treat with understanding and take into account the circumstances, a person, being inclined to find a comfortable environment for the realization of his values, begin to look even more actively for a better environment where they are acceptable. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to this issue, not only as a study of it at the theoretical (philosophical) level but also from the perspective of developing practical actions that can change the situation in order to secure the future from dispersion and loss of Ukrainian identity.

The meaning of academy given in Athens in antiquity is connected with the aim of the journal Theology and Philosophy of Education. This text explains the journal's conceptual roots with methodological distinctions. Both the role of the phenomenological approach and key persons are mentioned.

Dieser Beitrag betrachtet ausschnittartig die komplexe Beziehung zwischen Ethik, Medien und Bildung, indem die Spannungen zwischen subjektiven und objektiven Bedeutsamen fokussiert wird. Dabei wird Bildung als entscheidende Vermittlung beiden gedacht. Normen und Werte als auch Fakten und Tatsachen werden als etwas Bedeutendes und dadurch Realistisches gedacht. So wird zwischen ethischen und realistischen Fragestellungen das einigende gesucht und in der Idee des Guten als zentrales Moment gefunden. Als unrealistisch und damit problematisch werden Ethiken identifiziert, die sich nur auf abstrakte Normen oder Werte stützen, da sie die subjektive Verwirklichung und die objektive Lebenswirklichkeit auch einer Pädagogik vernachlässigen. Betont wird dagegen die Notwendigkeit einer realistischen Ethik, die die dynamische und kontextabhängige Idee des Guten berücksichtigt. Diese Ethik sollte sowohl individuelle als auch gemeinschaftliche Dimensionen gemeinsamer Praxis umfassen – deswegen die Vermittlung zwischen allgemeinen Normen und individuellen Handlungen in den Fokus rücken. Eine kritische Reflexion über die Rolle der Medien in diesem Prozess, um die Mediatisierung des Wissens und die Herausforderungen der digitalen Zukunft sind fundamentaler Teil einer solchen gemeinsamen Praxis.

In the era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, innovation in education is crucial. As one of the key pillars of human and societal development, education must continuously evolve to address the needs and challenges of modern times. Preparing the younger generation for future challenges necessitates prioritizing educational innovation on the global policy agenda. The philosophical foundation of education is essential in providing a framework for understanding the purpose of education, teaching methods, and the relationship between education, individuals, and society. This research aims to serve as a reference for educators, curriculum developers, and policymakers in designing effective and relevant learning strategies and to contribute to the academic literature on the intersection of education and technology. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative techniques. The research begins with a qualitative phase, where in-depth interviews and literature analysis are used to explore integrating educational philosophy with technological advancements in learning. This qualitative step identifies key challenges, opportunities, and needs within current educational systems. In the subsequent quantitative phase, surveys and questionnaires are distributed to a larger sample of educators and students to gather data on their experiences and perceptions regarding the use of technology in education. The study results confirm that a deep integration of educational philosophy with advancements in learning technology is crucial for creating a holistic and effective education system. This approach fosters character development, enhances critical thinking skills, and prepares learners to face future challenges with empathy, critical thinking, and wisdom. The data collected through qualitative and quantitative methods reveal significant correlations between educational philosophy's application and technology's successful integration in fostering an adaptable, forward-thinking educational environment.

This paper examined the capacity of Nigerian youths in demanding accountability from their leaders for good governance. The study employed a descriptive survey design guided by two research questions. A total population of 235 final year students of Peaceland College of Education, Enugu in the Southern East region of Nigeria was used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a 23 items researcher developed questionnaire titled Youth Capacities for Accountability and Good Governance Questionnaire (YCAGGQ). It was structured in two clusters in-line with the two research questions that guided the study. The instrument was face validated by three experts in the Faculty of Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The reliability of the instrument was established using Cronbach Alpha Method which yielded an overall reliability co-efficient of 0.89. Data for the study was delivered and collected personally by the researchers with the help of two research assistants. Mean and Standard deviation scores were used in answering the two research questions. The result of the study revealed that both male and female undergraduate students identified all the items as factors that triggered the youths for demanding accountability from their leaders as well as workable ways for ensuring accountability from their leaders for good governance. This is evident in their mean scores which were above the cut-off point of 2.5 at a four point rating scale. The study among others recommended that: the government through its agencies should organize workshops on accountability and good governance on a frequent basis for the political leaders while in office to keep on grooming their minds on the issue of accountability and good governance. Equally, it was recommended that while expecting the government to be accountable, Nigerian youths should as well serve as agents of peace and unity, they should engage their leaders in a peaceful dialogue when necessary instead of protest as no meaningful development can take place in an environment dominated by chaos and violence.

This paper examines the fundamental meanings of the concepts of “subject” and “subjectivity” in Western political philosophy, aiming to place them within the context of modern Ukraine. The discourses on Ukraine-as-a-subject are examined in relation to the two contradictory senses of subjectivity: (a) autonomous, selfpossessing, and (b) dependent, belonging subject. As the idea of an autonomous subject in Western political thought is closely related to colonial ideology and practice, this concept should be replaced with the notion of the historical, dependent subject, which is shaped by the political regime it belongs to. Consequently, the paper argues that the sense of a belonging subject (b) better reflects the actual practices of subjection, because it captures the factor of belonging to the community and presupposes the ethical, normative impact of the political collective on its subjects. Aristotle’s first systematic use of the word subject (to hupokeimenon) is based on the verb “to belong” (hupokeimai), from which the Latin civis (citizen) is also derived. Accordingly, the true ‘autonomy’ of the subject lies in the ability to choose one’s ‘belonging’ and to participate in a political community that reinterprets and changes one’s own intellectual tradition. In this case, the historicity of the subject does not mean a fateful and singular History, but rather a multiplicity of stories that give meaning and value to their subjects. The only way to partake in the act of subjectivation is through self-regulated education, which molds the social subject within the community. In the case of Ukraine, this primarily means that political power should be locally generated through civil institutions and groups that play a normative role in society. Only when education and political organization become a res publica can subjectivation be a liberating practice, as envisioned by the theorists of the Enlightenment.

This article aimed to examine the two concepts of the educational process and educated person from the philosophical perspective of Richard S. Peters, a prominent philosopher of education. In light of this, one of his influential works, “What is an Educational Process?”, was carefully reviewed. Some comments on the overall relevance of Peters’ positions on the two concepts are also included. The review provides valuable insights into these concepts, which are profoundly important for the education field. Finally, concluding remarks and implications of the author's perspectives on contemporary educational systems are highlighted.

This case study explores the meaning and importance of the philosophy of education for students studying in the performing arts education department. By examining the beliefs, values, and educational philosophies of performing arts students, this study aims to uncover the profound impact of philosophy on their educational experiences and future artistic endeavors. This study utilized a case study approach. Questionnaires were administered to performing arts education students. The questionnaire consisted of eight questions that were carefully structured to uncover the students' views, beliefs, and experiences relating to the philosophy of education. Data collection was conducted online through Google Forms. Google Forms were then distributed to 35 participants in early May 2023. After the deadline for form completion at the end of May 2023, responses from the participants were automatically collected by Google Forms. The responses were then aggregated and an in-depth analysis was conducted to look at themes, patterns, and relationships prevalent in the responses. The results of this study highlight the role of diverse educational philosophies in shaping learning experiences, influencing academic achievement, and impacting educational policy and practice. This study enriches the dialogue on performing arts education, providing valuable insights for educators and policymakers. By elevating the discussion from visible aspects to the underlying philosophical structure, it offers an innovative approach for a more holistic educational experience for performing arts students.

Introduction. The institute of education in modern society is currently in the process of serious transformation associated with the large-scale introduction of high technologies, which is due to a similar process in post-industrial society as a whole. There is a growing understanding of the negative consequences of digitalization of society and education along with the understanding of the objective necessity of such transformation. The article contains an analysis of the negative consequences and problems arising in the course of the spread of digitalization of higher education in Russia. Methodology and sources. The methodology of the research is based on the methods of comparative analysis and extrapolation of transformations of social environment and anthropological factors under the influence of technological progress in the field of higher education. The signs of “high technology poisoning” considered by J. Naisbitt in his book “High Tech – High Touch: Technology and Our Search for Meaning” and the concept of extensive and intensive types of creativity formulated by A.I. Stoletov are a conceptual basis for analyzing the impact of high technology on education. Results and Discussion. Seven symptoms of technological poisoning in higher education, representing the main risks of the modern educational system, their manifestations in the educational process and prospects in case the existing trend persists, have been considered. One of the sources of manifestation of these symptoms is the extensive character of creativity inherent in scientific and technological activity of the society, which stakes on innovative development and mastering of material aspects of nature. The technogenic character of the emerging innovation process levels out the activities associated with the intensive type of creativity, aimed at the meaning-creating and existential aspects of human existence. Conclusion. Minimization of negative consequences presupposes the strengthening of the humanitarian component in education, allowing to form a culture of “pause of contemplation” (Grigory Pomerantz), in which technology will acquire, as it was suggested by J. Naisbitt himself, a fullness of meaning that goes beyond instrumental values into the realm of ethical and existential ones.

Research objectives (aims) and problem(s): The purpose of the article is to point out the pedagogical implications of selected elements of Erving Goffman’s thought. Research methods: To achieve this goal, the author used the methods of hermeneutic interpretation and existential problematisation. Structure of the article: The topic may be boiled down to the essence of the ethos which underlies authentic pedagogical thought and activity. This issue has been problematised in terms of Erving Goffman’s theory of the presentation of self in everyday life and social interaction rituals. In this context, reference is made to the heuristic semantic potential of the metaphorical figure expressed in the concept of the “schoolboy model” and “schoolboy’s world.” In fact, it symbolises the essence of the ethos of pedagogical thought and activity, which always paves the way to authentically acquiring personal and social competencies – requiring time, effort and self-discipline. On this path, individuals gain genuine respect and recognition in society whilst acquiring the skills needed to fulfil their social roles. In this meaning, the heuristic figure of the “schoolboy model” mainly depicts the authentic, honest effort needed to follow the path that leads to personal and social development by facing the challenges and demands of education with integrity. Therefore, the metaphorical figure of the schoolboy model, referring to the rule of fairness (i.e., evaluating students based on their actual merits and achievements), assumes the validity of facts that can only be produced by means of diligent and honest work. Research findings and their impact on the development of educational sciences: Thus, the subject matter calls for the application of selected categories of Erving Goffman’s work in contemporary pedagogical discourse and its key categories: the subjectivity, autonomy, self-education and self-realisation of the pupil. Conclusions and/or recommendations: The model of pedagogical thought and action inspired by selected aspects of Goffman’s thought can be linked with the ways of understanding pupils’ status which express beliefs about individuals’ ability to create their own social and cultural status through their choices, reflexivity, activity, commitment and subjective agency. Thus, the heuristic figure of Goffman’s schoolboy model exposes the authentic acquisition of subjective competence for personal and social human development.

The rapid development of programs based on the principles of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) signals significant changes in the components of education, namely in the provider, the tool of transmission, and the recipient of knowledge. Historical data analysis regarding the key functions of education serves as the basis for identifying fundamental innovations introduced through AI and ML. The impact of writing, printing, and the Internet has significantly altered the tool for knowledge transmission, influencing the volume of information and the number of knowledge recipients. The implementation of AI and ML transforms not only the tool but also the provider of knowledge itself, which can become impersonal thanks to the corresponding computer programs. With the historically justified increase in the volume of knowledge possessed by humanity, there is a transformation observed in education systems. This is especially true for democratic societies, where the emphasis is increasingly shifting from providing a large amount of knowledge to developing critical thinking. It has been researched that programs based on AI and ML, applying linguistic models, are capable of effectively systematizing knowledge. This lays the foundation for personalizing the entire education process for a specific knowledge recipient, without burdening the provider. However, there have been cases when such imitation misleads scientists, who perceive it as attempts at communication between programs that have an equivalence to the human level. The conclusions drawn indicate a significant transformation of the education system caused by AI and ML-based programs. However, intelligent programs are unable to evolve into independent knowledge recipients due to their inability to consciously attribute meaning to information, transforming it into knowledge.

The work is dedicated to highlighting the modern educational mission of the philosophy of education in Ukraine, since education is a tool for building a civil society, and the philosophy of education is its methodological and educational reference point. The theoretical basis of the work is the function of the civilizational purpose of the philosophy of education: to become a specific methodology for the awakening of the “human in a person”, the education of an intellectual personality through education. The work defines the main educational directions in the field of philosophy of education: scientific-educational and ethical-humanistic. The scientific-educational direction is aimed at the formation of rational knowledge: the intellectual development of the individual and the increase of the intellectual potential of society. The scientific-educational direction is determined by the unions of scientists and teachers interested in the development of education and science of their country: here the philosophy of education must work with such categories-tools as knowledge, reason, common sense, thinking, understanding – and its educational mission is to develop educational paradigms that allow for the development of individual intelligence. The ethical-humanist direction involves work on the moral improvement of generations, which most actively occurs during education and upbringing (acquiring knowledge and intellectual development) and the formation of moral qualities of the individual – “what one should be in order to be a person”. The algorithm of human education is based on the main human virtues outlined by the entire world philosophy: wisdom, justice, courage, moderation. The conclusions speak of the need for new enlightenment in Ukrainian society, and the practical goal of philosophical and educational enlightenment is defined as helping modern people to become more civilized – educated and highly moral.

Academic integrity in education and science is understood as an ability that translates from possible into actual justice in the relations of students, teachers and scientists, their respect for their own dignity and the dignity of colleagues, as well as a focus on sincere creativity and co-creation. Academic integrity is the ability to maintain and develop the reputation of a conscientious, tolerant and creative professional who does not envy the talent of colleagues and does not appropriate their achievements. In the article, academic integrity appears not only as a demand and a challenge, but also as a will. In the coordinates of the methodology of meta-anthropology, it is proven that at the level of the will to self-preservation and procreation, as well as at the level of the will to power, any virtue, including academic and conditional, moreover, its deformations and distortions are possible. Only under the influence of the will to knowledge and creativity of the finite being of a person, which is supplemented by the will to co-creation in the meta-boundary being, academic integrity acquires an unconditional character and naturalness. It has been proven that true academic integrity is impossible without true academic dialogue, without it it turns into a simulacrum. The heuristic meaning of the concept “will to academic integrity” is substantiated. The will to academic integrity is an important component of the will to scientific novelty and actualizes academic writing that has heuristic achievements, is free from plagiarism, does not amount to compilation and is not a fabrication. As an example of the action of such a will in the academic community, the Kyiv anthropological school is presented in its development in the directions of existential anthropology and metaanthropology. The role of academic integrity in conditions of war and peace is shown.

In the era of the development of innovative technologies, the processes taking place in universities determine new requirements for the personality and professional competence of a teacher. A modern teacher is not just a transmitter of information and accumulated experience, but also a person who understands the essence of modern life and strives to harmoniously fit into existing realities, while focused on changing his consciousness, worldview and openness to everything new. In this connection, the problem of the teacher’s psychological readiness for innovation, as a component of his professionalism, is relevant. The purpose of the study: to study the peculiarities of readiness for innovation and identify the main barriers preventing the development of innovations among university teachers; based on the results obtained, to develop a methodology for the development of innovative activity of teachers. The study involved 156 university teachers aged 27 to 40 years with 1 to 15 years of work experience at the university. The study revealed that about a third of teachers show a low level of readiness for innovation. Only 22% of teachers have a high level of innovation activity. In the structure of readiness for innovation, they will have a motivational component, indicating a desire for success in achieving their goals. It was also found that the leading factors hindering the innovative activity of teachers are: insufficient awareness of possible innovative activities at the university; the belief that only the traditional education system is effective; lack of assistance in mastering innovations in the team, as well as fear of negative performance results. The systematization of the theoretical and empirical data obtained made it possible to develop a methodology for the development of innovative activity of university teachers, consisting of two main directions: environmental – features of the scientific and educational innovative environment; subjective – motivation, level of training and personal characteristics of teachers.

The review is devoted to the set of manuals “Digital Ascetics” and the prospects of its use in the educational process among modern youth. It also considers and problematizes the trend towards increasing digitalization of contemporary human existence and ways of finding a balance between “online” and “offline”. The purpose of this review is to familiarize a wide range of readers with the methodology of “digital asceticism”, to justify the use of this methodology in the modern educational model, and to search for potential “growth zones” of this methodological material. The results of the review can be useful to both teachers and students of schools, secondary schools, universities, and their parents.

Education is a basic human category and need. Man is born without any knowledge and experience, and in the process of upbringing and education, he needs to realize himself as an autonomous being. Therefore, it is the task of participants and creators of educational policies to provide methods to achieve this goal. Also, it is necessary to provide a competent teacher who will be able to ensure the fulfillment of educational intentions. Education is dealt with by philosophy and pedagogy. Pedagogy deals with specific issues related to education, and philosophy, within the framework of the philosophy of education, deals with phenomena related to education and educational practice, approaching holistically. In this paper, we will present certain educational attitudes from antiquity, the pragmatist theory of J. Dewey, and indicate which competencies a teacher should possess in modern teaching.

Teacher cognition, as a chief area within teacher education, is concerned with what teachers think, know, and do (Borg, 2003). One of the knotty strands emerging out of the past 50 or so years of research on teacher cognition is the misalignment between teachers’ cognition and practice. This study adopted a critical interpretative synthesis framework to identify factors generating such incongruence by dissecting 12 studies reporting on teachers’ cognition vis-à-vis their practice. The emerging themes were translated into each other and synthesised to form two lines of argument. The first one describes sources of teachers’ cognition and practice as ontological, epistemological, and contextual. Teachers’ apprenticeship of observation was found to exert the highest influence in fashioning their cognition and practice by sifting professional learning experiences and granting admission to only those commensurate with personal learning experiences. The second line of argument propounds that connate, personal, and contextual factors breed (mis)alignment into teachers’ cognition and practice. Furthermore, Cartesian dualism (Descartes, 1596-1650) and Heideggerianhermeneutic phenomenology (Heidegger, 1889-1976) were utilised to critically de- and re-territorialise the developed lines of argument. This interpretive conceptualisation of teacher cognition is rooted in but patently transcends the original studies in that it invites a fresh demarcation of the territory intensely occupied by contextual factors to allow teachers to practice ‘cogito, ergo I teach’. Finally, some suggestions are offered for the relevance of the results to teacher cognition research and teacher education and policy.

The contemporary American university largely operates as an agent of domestication, tasked more with enforcing the social and economic order than with expanding the horizons of possibility. The dawn of the Anthropocene, however, demands that we reconceive of the humanities not as self-sufficient, hierarchical, or divided away from other modes of seeking knowledge but as core to what human being and responsibility ought to mean in the more-than-human world. The present essay makes a case for reworking—and rethinking—the American university along the lines of Mark C. Taylor’s prompt to reconceive of the academy as a multidisciplinary forum for the “comparative analysis of common problems”. I suggest that religious teachings—and religious traditions themselves—can offer models for the intertwining of the humanities (literature, poetry, philosophy, the expressive and applied arts), the social sciences (the study of governance, political thought, the study and formulation of law), and the natural sciences as well as mathematics and engineering. Further, I argue that when faced with radical and unprecedented changes in technological, social, economic, and environmental structures, we must, I believe, engage with these traditional texts in order to enrich and critique the liberal mindset that has neither the values nor the vocabulary to deal with the climate crisis. We must begin to sow new and expansive ways of thinking, and I am calling this work the “rewilding” of our universities. Parallel to the three Cs of rewilding as a conservation paradigm, I suggest the following three core principles for the rewilding of higher education: creativity, curriculum, and collaboration. Though I focus on the interface of religion, ecology, and the study of the environmental, social, and moral challenges of climate change, I suggest that these categories of activity should impact all domains of inquiry to which a university is home.

This research aims to reveal in detail how Pancasila is used as the basis of Indonesian philosophy. Researchers studied two main studies, namely Pancasila which is understood in the context of ideals and realities of life, especially in basic education (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah). This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method with a type of library research using a pragmatic approach. Research data is taken from scientific work related to research. The analysis technique in this research uses content analysis. The results of the research show that there is a Project Movement for Strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile / Project for Strengthening Pancasila Students (P5) and the Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin Student Profile which is a unified spirit that mutually strengthens each other. Both adhere to the Pancasila philosophy and uphold diversity and human values. However, these ideals are not commensurate with the existing reality, so that the Pancasila philosophy in basic education has several challenges, including liberalism, individualism, pragmatism, hedonism and external religious ideologies.

Abstract This is a discussion, from a largely global but partly British perspective, about whether private schools should be freely permitted, discouraged or abolished. This, it is claimed, depends on the kind of private school one has in mind. The paper moves on to three arguments against British private schools, especially prestigious so‐called ‘public schools’: that they promote social exclusiveness, have created a ruling élite, and are unjust. This latter claim, which also has global relevance, is explored in some detail. The meritocratic conception of society which it presupposes is then also discussed and criticised. The final section of the paper is about future perspectives on private schooling across the world. It looks at proposed and actual measures to abolish or curtail them; educational proposals to limit the power of meritocracy, including reforms to the school examination system. It also discusses how likely it is that suggested reforms of any of these kinds will actually take place.

This study aimed to exhibit a bibliometric analysis of systems thinking (ST) research in the field of science education. A total of 340 articles from 201 sources indexed in the Web of Science database in the years 1991–2022 were used in the analysis. The analysis aimed to provide a review of systems thinking research in science education by identifying the dynamics of research by presenting the periodical process, current situation, and future directions. Research on systems thinking has been acknowledged to demonstrate a significant increase in recent years. Bibliometric data prove that systems thinking research concerning studies in science education exhibits a parallel increase too. This is mainly due to UNESCO’s (2015) declaration of The Education for 2030 Framework for Action. There systems thinking was defined as a key competency among eight competencies for education for sustainable development. Correspondingly, the analysis in this study suggests that systems thinking research in science education is a lively and developing subject in the past decade.

Introduction. The main idea of the article is that every established educational strategy combines the incompatible, generating economocentrism, political centrism, technocentrism, ecocentrism and other “centrisms” that lead to a reductivist approach to the meaning and forms of education. Theoretical analysis. Education as a socioanthropological institution is relatively autonomous, and the idea of autopoiesis of the human being is what lies at the foundation of its autonomy. In this context, philosophy of education appears as a philosophy of its age, or, even broader, a philosophy of human beings who are able not only to integrate themselves into the civilizational design of the epoch with its cultural and historical standards, and professional needs, but also to transcend their epoch in search for themselves / their own. Empirical analysis. The inalienable mission of education consists in creating a social field for spiritual maturation and self-perfection for individual human beings. Education acquires its completeness and dignity only when it reaches the level of navigating a person towards development, “the care of the self”. Conclusion. Education thus becomes a form of development of a civil society, able to self-organize and self-develop, to create (cultivating meanings and institutions), which is not reducible to a social “conveyor-factory” for producing semi-finished products according to the standards of political, professional or sociocultural institutions.

In the present article, the possibilities of teaching the philosophy of syncriticism and life of concordance as conditio humana and mediation of philosophical thinking to youth (students) and teachers in the era of ignorance (Konrad Paul Liessmann) are discussed. Using the philosophical concept of syncriticism, the author attempts to open and defend the otherness of philosophy in the system of education, justify its enriching and provocative dimension, its free-teaching time (Jan Patočka), life practice in building relationships and the authentic life of our everyday existence (Radim Palouš). In the philosophy of syncriticism and competence of concordance (Jozef Piaček) and in indifference to the future, we see the meaningfulness of philosophical education and find its new possibilities and challenges concerning homo educandus.

In recent years, with the temporal distortions produced by the pandemic, distance learning has emerged as an emerging, temporary and partial solution, thanks to new technologies. In the digital era, the relationship between learning and technological devices is worthy of investigation. Studies on changes in cognitive processes (reading and memory) deriving in part from the habit of persistent use of ICT raise questions about the school of the future. In this paper, we want to explore the role that deep reading takes on in the hyper-accelerated context of digital contemporaneity, in which reading has been fragmented. Starting from philosophical references (Braidotti, Floridi, Stiegler), the contribution intends to expand theoretically Maryanne Wolf's proposal on the need for bi-literacy (alphabetic and digital) as a key to today's education.

In order to establish and outline the current state of Ukrainian philosophy of education as a scientific philosophical direction and at the same time a social institutional system that has emerged in Ukraine during the last three decades, a “controversial” approach is used, a method of studying controversies or disputed points, contradictions and tensions between representations and discourses regarding education A working definition of controversy is formulated as an intermediate category that contributes to overcoming gaps between the object of research and the research position in a situation of contradiction and tension between representations and discourses around a certain object, which is expressed in open or hidden debates, disputes, etc. and which characterized by zones of uncertainty regarding the “trajectory“ of this object. An attempt is made to catalog the controversies of the philosophy of education. The controversies of the hypostases of the philosophy of education, reforms of Ukrainian education are considered; interaction between education and philosophy of education in the system of “dirty systems”; toxic spaces in education and the action of the Lucifer effect (F. Zimbardo) in them as the metamorphosis of good into evil. The precedent of the loss of reputation by a group of scientists representing the field of philosophy of education is discussed. The progress of the Ukrainian philosophy of education is noted and its tasks are outlined in the research of social relations in education, the sphere of relations between subjects of education, toxic spaces in education. The “controversial” approach provides an opportunity to bring the philosophy of education closer to the subjects of education, involving them in the study of tensions between discourses and representations that they create and formulate.

Introduction. The spread of medical theories and practices to various spheres of society is becoming a significant factor in the development of society. In the scientific literature this phenomenon is called medicalization. The essence, causes and consequences of medicalization are comprehended in philosophical and bioethical discourses. Medicalized practices are also being introduced into the process of education. Theoretical analysis. Consideration of the problem made it possible to reveal that pedagogical means of solving the problems of education are supplemented or replaced by means of medical influence on the human body. The features of students’ behavior are marked as symptoms of neuropsychiatric diseases that require treatment. Correction of students’ behavior with the help of medical means is associated with the disciplinary nature of education, considered in the biopolitical concept of M. Foucault. The transformation of the cultural understanding of the norm under the influence of natural science theory stands out as a trend of the development of modern science, contributing to the growth of medicalization. Also, the development of the biological concept of psychiatry and the achievements of neuroscience contribute to the medicalization of the process of education. Conclusion. The medicalization of the process of education is followed by new social risks that have philosophical, methodological, social, humanitarian and ethical grounds. It is concluded that it is necessary to conduct a social and humanitarian examination of medicalized educational practices and analyze the compliance of medicalized practices with the goals and objectives of education.

This article is based on the political philosophy of education and training and on the recent history of ideas in these same fields. We explore the hypothesis that the crises of education and training, especially in a globalized world, can best be understood through a more global reflection on liberalism and its own crises, tensions and problems. First, we clarify, refine, update and make our own this proposal. We then discuss this theme and its foundations with one of the most important theorists of the mutations and challenges of liberalism in globalization, namely Francis Fukuyama, and attempt to highlight the educational and formative stakes of his main theses.

Byung-Chul Han (Seoul, 1959) establishes one of the most meaningful and deep understandings of the experience of the contemporary subject. In his view, temporality has suffered a radical atomization that translates into a fragmented life experience: a collection of isolated instants devoid of a sense of duration. As a by-product of this circumstance, we see our very way of thinking and learning changing accordingly. Where we used to find knowledge, we now see information. The aim of this paper will be to explore the transformative power of education in the context of our “broken” temporality.

The paper orbits around Lévinas’ idea of teaching as opposite to Socratic maieutic method. According to the phenomenologist, pursuing only the goal of drawing out of the students what is already contained in them relegates teaching to a secondary role and, first and foremost, underlies an anthropology centered on the ego and not on the relationship. The aim of the paper is to show how this anthropology is unable to respond to many “emergencies” of contemporary education.

This article explores Stanley Cavell’s ordinary aesthetics through a close reading of one passage in The Claim of Reason. This close reading leads to the suggestion that educating our aesthetic sense and responsiveness has ethical implications, especially as these relate to the mental health crisis in schools. The article draws implications for individuals in caring relationships with young people, suggesting that Cavell’s thinking on ordinary aesthetics is a powerful tool in our time.

Blended learning research has been developed recently. Still, research has yet to examine the rationale for emerging trends and issues regarding TPACK and Blended Learning in terms of educational philosophy. This article focuses on analyzing blended learning based on TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) from the perspective of the philosophy of progressivism. The educational philosophy of progressivism requires making progress consistently and applying it comprehensively, constructively, and innovatively. In progressivism philosophy, every human being also needs a change to be invariably developed and get improvement. The research method used is qualitative. This research uses library research to explore relevant concepts using various writings on blended learning and TPACK and then analyzed using the progressivism theory. This article explores the results of a literature review on blended learning, TPACK, and progressivism philosophy. A few books and articles published from 2006 to 2021 were searched using Harzing's Publish and Perish through Scopus, Google Books, and Google Scholar databases. The systematic review followed the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. The literature review includes 44 articles and books on blended learning, TPACK, and progressivism philosophy. In this context, a conclusion can be drawn where TPACK-based Blended Learning is an innovation in education following the needs and developments of the times, which is the implementation of the philosophy of progressivism. TPACK-based blended learning results from the philosophy of progressivism, which considers education to be moving in the direction of the times. The philosophy of progressivism requires a fundamental change in the implementation of education towards a better, quality, and real benefit for students.

Modern globalization, informational, digital-oriented challenges actualize changes in theoretical and methodological approaches to mastering knowledge, professional-oriented types and technologies of activity. The philosophy of education, as well as pedagogical activity, indicates the existential risk of human beings: the Pandemia of COVID-19 and the Russian military threat to Ukraine’s integrity and independence. The organization of the educational process is determined by new forms: online, offline, mixed learning; Interactive technologies. In the post-nonclassical picture of the world, the idea of the network acquires worldview and value. Obviously, the pedagogical culture of verbal communication, especially artistic and figurative intellectuality, spiritual and semantic potential of words and thought, pedagogical reflection, are apparently methodologically and valuable. The problem of contradictions of the philosophy of education is traced in the plane of dialectical, synergistic, information approaches. The general contra-dictions of the philosophy of education are distinguished, in particular: between the integrity of cultural existence of mankind and the specifics of national cultural correspondence; between the dominant collective forms of the educational process and the individual nature of cognitive activity; between humanistic and sci­entifically-technocratic worldview; between the challenges of modern scientific thinking and the practice of its implementation in educational and pedagogical activity; between digitalization activity and information space safety. The solution of the contradictions of the philosophy of education involves the methodology of synergetics (nonlinearity, systematic, complexity, self-organization). There is a topical contradiction regarding Ukraine between the restructuring of the econ­omy, the widespread development of services and the slow modernization of the production industry, compared to developed countries (USA, United Kingdom, Japan). Its solution is made significantly possible by socially and value priority investments in science-education-technology-production. Moreover, the synergy of efforts of power, political, legislative, managerial structures, community of phi­losophers, scientists, pedagogues, teachers and parents, Ukrainian society as a whole is needed. The overcoming a certain dependence of education/training on electronic communications should be praxiologically oriented. Socio-value priori­ties of science, education, creative self-realization of nonsense are components of a positive image of Ukraine in the European and world communicative space.

The review conveys the main content of the Interuniversity Scientific and Practical Seminar «Philosophy of Modern Education: Transdisciplinary Reflections», which was held on the basis of Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University on December 8, 2022, Ternopil. Representatives of the Department of Philosophy and Pedagogy of the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after S. Z. Gzhitsky, Kharkiv National Pedagogical University named after H. S. Skovoroda also took part in the seminar.

In recent years, one can observe great interest in such a phenomenon as thought experiments in various fields of science and philosophy. In research, they are usually seen as tools for argumentation or presentation of some theory. The author of this article will consider thought experiments instead from the point of view of use in the educational process. Also, thought experiments will be analyzed as one of the options for checking the level of understanding of some material from the educational course, which adds creativity and creativity to the educational process not only for the teacher but also for other participants of the educational process (pupils, students, graduate students). The proposed classification of thought experiments will help improve the educational process and interest in the subject. The article provides examples from the history of philosophy and science, which illustrate the importance of thought experiments for learning and emphasize their use as a tool (or skill) when working in a specific field of science. Examples of the use of thought experiments in the educational process of different countries, recommendations from international educational organizations, and the provision of a specific algorithm for their application were given. An improvement of this process, which primarily appeals to everyday experience, is proposed. Some recommendations from the work of modern logic are given for a clearer and stricter use of such reasoning as reasoning by analogy. A comparison was made regarding the attitude to the thought experiments of such scientists as Thomas Kuhn, Karl Popper, and Georg Lichtenberg. Attention is focused on using thought experiments to improve understanding of concepts and theories and increase the creative component and interactivity during all types of classes.

Introduction. Modernity is characterized by the framework of the “neoliberal doctrine of world development”, and it defines the main vectors of the development of higher education. The “extinction” of the humanistic meaning of education, the understanding of the mission of the university solely as a contribution to public well-being through technological breakthroughs and business – all this forces us to return to the understanding of the mission of the university. The new study of the university's mission is determined by the influence of the philosophy of communitarianism on the university's activities on the track of sustainable development.Methodology and sources. The study of the problems with which the higher education system is faced, the study of the university's mission in the context of sustainable development of society and the influence of the philosophy of communitarianism and the “capability approach” are based on a systematic approach that allows us to consider the university as an integral, institutionally organized subsystem of society. The sociocultural approach allows us to consider the university corporation as a collective subject of educational, scientific and other activities focused on the values of public and personal welfare.Results and discussion. The concepts of communitarianism try to resist the dominance of neoliberalism. The main idea of these concepts is the moral improvement of society through the revival of traditional values and the education of the individual (A. McIntyre). The philosophy of “capability approach” (A. Sen, M. Nassbaum) has similar ideas on the development of moral qualities of the individual, the denial of the “egocentric essence of person”, the assertion of the priority of the general over the particular. Full-fledged human functioning depends on a set of abilities and opportunities, for example, the ability to get an education, the opportunity to participate in public and political life, to realize their own development trajectory, etc. The greater the set of these opportunities in each person's life, the higher its quality is evaluated. The philosophy of “opportunities” and the philosophy of communitarianism are interfaced with the concept of sustainable development of society. Models of “sustainable universities” that implement practices of interaction with society try to put into practice communitarian ideas, creating a balance of interests of the individual and society, public good and personal freedom.Conclusion. Combining the ideas of communitarianism with the idea of sustainable development could give a new impetus to the development of the university and change the content of its mission, and strengthen its humanitarian orientation.

Autonomy – or rational self-control – is not only fashionable as an educational ideal, but also in present-day economics, ethics, and society in general. However, the concept of traditional autonomy is problematic because it privileges humans and treats the rest of nature primarily as resources fit only for human exploitation. This anthropocentrism has led human beings to see themselves as superior to nature and separate. Ecosocial autonomy is an attempt to redress the balance, by contextualising autonomy so it incorporates the idea of self-control, while taking into account the impact of humankind on our surrounding ecosystems. Our formulation of ecosocial autonomy is an extension of relational autonomy – based mainly on ecological, ecosocial, and ecofeminist ideas. Ecosocial autonomy is thus contextualized within a multispecies society which includes our interdependencies with other living creatures. Whereas the individualist idea of autonomy suggests a human being owes nothing to society, ecosocial autonomy acknowledges the need to cultivate aspects of self-sufficiency that combine reason, emotional maturity, and will. A competitive society presupposes individual autonomy and the need to defend oneself. Ecosocial autonomy advocates a form of social interaction that diverts the human energy misspent on individual competition to mutually beneficial collaboration.
