AbstractObjective To assess the impacts of Platelet-Rich Plasma(PRP) and Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor(G-CSF) on a rat model with induced ovarian follicular damage caused by cyclophosphamide(Cy).Materials and Methods Forty-two Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly allocated into seven distinct groups as; Group 1(control): NaCl intraperitoneal (IP) injection was administered on days D1, D7, and D14. Group 2(Cy):Cy IP injection on D1 + NaCl IP injection on D7 and D14 were administered. Group 3(PRP): PRP IP injection on D1,D7 and D14 were administered. Group 4(Cy + PRP):Cy IP injection on D1 and PRP IP injection on D1, D7 and D14 were administered. Group 5(G-CSF): G-CSF IP injection on D1, D7 and D14 were administered. Group 6(Cy + G-CSF):Cy IP injection on D1+ G-CSF IP injection on D1, D7 and D14 were administered. Group 7(Cy + PRP + G-CSF):Cy IP injection on D1+ PRP IP injection on D1,D7 and D14+ G-CSF IP injection on D1,D7 and D14 were administered. Follicular number, histological scores of AMH and INSL3 stained follicles at different stages of follicular development, and serum Anti-Müllerian hormone(AMH) were evaluated.Results The primary, secondary, and antral follicle intensity scores for AMH-positive staining were most prominent in Groups 3 and 5. There was no significant difference between groups 4, 6 and 7 compared to group 1 in terms of follicule counts and AMH staining. Purpose To assess sleep disturbances, levels of anxiety, depression and fatigue in women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI). Materials and methods The study included 62 women with POI and 62 age-matched controls. Women in both groups completed questionnaires. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Insomnia severity index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and Fatigue Severity Scale were used. Results We found poor sleep quality, higher levels of insomnia in women with POI than in controls. Depression was much more prevalent and severe in POI women. Total anxiety score, the severity of anxiety and fatigue did not differ significantly between the groups. According to the multivariable logistic regression analysis, being married and having POI were associated with worse quality of sleep, and having more children was associated with an increase in depression levels in the whole cohort. Backward analysis showed that when POI status was taken as a reference, married women were at 6.5 fold increased risk of poor sleep quality. Conclusions Women with premature ovarian failure are more likely to suffer from poor sleep quality, insomnia and depression than healthy women.

Objective: We aimed to determine the frequency of endometrial pathologies of patients who presented to our outpatient clinic with postmenopausal bleeding (PMB) and asymptomatic menopausal patients with a finding of thickened endometrium on transvaginal ultrasonography. Study Design: This study was performed at Bezmialem University Hospital. Women who presented to our clinic from January 2015 to January 2017 were analyzed. Patients were divided to two groups. All patients underwent transvaginal ultrasound with a 7.5 MHz probe. Endometrial sampling was performed by either blind D&C (dilatation & curettage) or pipelle sampling. We excluded patient specimens that were obtained by hysteroscopy. Results: Electronic records of a total of 368 patients in menopause were inspected. Out of these patients; 287 (78%) underwent endometrium sampling indicated by bleeding. Eighty-one patients (22%) were asymptomatic; however, a thickened endometrium echo on TVUSG examination (≥ 5 mm) was suspected. The median age was 57 (42-85). In both groups the two leading causes of endometrial pathology was; endometrial polyps followed by proliferative endometrium. The frequency of endometrial cancer was 9.4 % for the PMB group and 1.2 % in the asymptomatic patient group Conclusion: Evaluation of PMB as soon as possible is essential for diagnosing endometrial pathologies. Role of endometrial thickness is decisive in detecting patients at high risk for malignancy especially with comorbid conditions. Histopathological evaluation is mandatory for ruling out malignancy.

Objective: We aimed to estimate the prevalence of microscopic hematuria in women with pelvic organ descent and compare the results in terms of severity and accompanying urinary symptoms. We hypothesized that microhematuria incidence would be higher in advanced prolapse and accompanying urinary symptoms. Study Design: Women who presented to our clinic from January 2013 to July 2016 were analyzed using our electronic medical record system. Those who were classified in the system under the "N81: female genital prolapse" code were included. Records were checked to certify that samples were acquired properly. Urogynecological examinations were performed by specialist gynecologists and documented according to the international continence society classification system. After ruling out urinary tract infections urinalysis was performed by an integrated system composed of an urine strip analyzer and a sediment autoanalyzer. Objective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of maternal age on prenatal and obstetric outcome in multiparaous women. Materials and Methods. A retrospective case control study was conducted, including women aged 40 years and over (study group, n=97) who delivered at 20 week’s gestation or beyond and women aged 20–29 years (control group, n=97). Results. The mean age of women in the study group was 41.2±1.7 years versus 25.4±2.3 years in the control group. Aim:To assess the risk factors associated with high rate of insufficient endometrial sampling on endometrial biopsy in postmenopausal women.Methods:Data were retrieved from the records of 522 consecutive patients who underwent endometrial sampling. Logistic regression analyses were performed to determine various factors associated with scanty endometrial biopsy. The exclusion criteria included patient refusal, uncertain menopausal status, cervical carcinoma detected after sampling and unavailable records.Results:The sample was insufficient for a definitive diagnosis in 143 (25.9%) patients. Out of these, 53 cases were investigated with invasive procedures. Further histopathological examination revealed that five (9.4%) patients had uterine malignancy. Based on the multivariate analysis, time since the onset of menopause [Odds ratio (OR)=1.044, 95% confidence interval (CI)=1.000-1.090, p=0.049] was significantly associated with insufficient endometrial biopsy in cases with a endometrial thickness of >12 mm on ultrasonography (OR=0.624, 95% CI=0.472-0.824, p=0.001). The use of dilation and curettage technique (OR=0.662, 95% CI=0.522-0.841, p=0.001) decreased the risk of insufficient sampling on endometrial biopsy.Conclusion:Time since the onset of menopause and the thickness of endometrium were significant independent factors associated with insufficient sample. Using Karman cannula for endometrial aspiration may not be a reliable method in the evaluation of postmenopausal women. An insufficient endometrial sample does not rule out endometrial carcinoma, therefore, a further histopathological examination is recommended.

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı primer dismenore tedavisinde D vitamininin etkinliğini değerlendirmektir.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bir üniversite hastanesine başvurmuş ve primer dismenore tanısı alan 16-35 yaş arası 142 hasta randomize kontrollü bir şekilde çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Olgular günde bir kez 667 IU D vitamini, günde bir kez 200 IU E vitamini ve günde iki kez 400 mg İbuprofen alacak şekilde üç gruba randomize edildi. Beklenen adet tarihinden iki gün önce ve adetin ilk üç gününde tedavi verildi. Ardışık iki siklüsde tedaviye devam edildi. Birincil sonuç olarak Vizüel Analog Skala (VAS) ile menstrüel ağrının şiddeti değerlendirildi. İkincil sonuç olarak ise iki aylık araştırma süresince Nonsteroidal anti-inflamatuar ilaç (NSAIDs) kullanma ihtiyacı değerlendirildi.Bulgular: Gruplar arasında yaş, beden kitle indeksi ve bazal VAS skorları açısından anlamlı bir farklılık saptanmadı. Aim: To investigate whether maternal serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] in the first trimester is associated with an increased risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of a cohort of pregnant women who had undergone routine genetic multiple marker screening and subsequent glucose tolerance testing. Twenty-five women with GDM and 208 controls without GDM were included in this study. Plasma 25(OH)D concentrations were measured using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Results: Mean 25(OH)D concentrations at 11-14 weeks of gestation were not significantly different in women who subsequently developed GDM compared with those who did not (mean ± standard deviation: 13.96 9.05 versus 13.43±9.72; p=0.8). Determining the climatic factors of viticultural areas have great importance. The late spring frost cause significant amount of economic losses in some years in many of areas. In March and April of 2014 has experienced frost damage in many parts of our country. Although Samsun coastal zone has the Black Sea region climate, in some years late spring frost causes economic losses in some important products. In this study, several grape varieties grown in the research and application vineyard located in The Ondokuz Mayıs University Campus area have studied to determine the frost damage by the late spring frost. In the present study, Yalova İncisi, one of the early grape variety has at least frost damage, Çavuş and Trakya İlkeren grape varieties has the most frost damage.

In this study, we aimed to present the case of a patient with Glanzmann’s thrombasthenia (GT) which is a hereditary disorder characterized by defective platelet function. A twenty-six-year old woman with GT who underwent cesarean section due to labor arrest and persisting vaginal bleeding despite receiving 18 unit of random platelet concentrates, 6 units of apheresis platelet concentrates, and 2 units of erythrocyte suspension. Since patients with GT are at high risk for massive bleeding during and after delivery, they should give birth under close monitoring in advanced healthcare centers where experienced hematologists are available.(The Me­di­cal Bul­le­tin of Ha­se­ki 2014; 52: 208-11)

Major vascular injury is a rare but serious complication seen in gynecologic laparoscopic surgery. Most of the vascular complications occur on the small vessels in the anterior abdominal wall and usually take place during Veress needle and trocar insertion at the beginning of the procedure. A 34-year-old primary infertile woman with bilateral polycystic ovaries underwent laparoscopic ovarian drilling procedure. During drilling of the right ovary, the right external iliac artery was damaged by the unipolar cautery. An immediate exploratory laparotomy was performed and the vessel was repaired. Here, we present an unusual case of major vessel injury by unipolar cautery during a laparoscopic procedure. Gynecologists must be cautious about this serious complication until the end of the laparoscopy, since the treatment is simple and lifesaving if immediately recognized.
