Presently power control and management play a vigorous role in information technology and power management. Instead of non-renewable power manufacturing, renewable power manufacturing is preferred by every organization for controlling resource consumption, price reduction and efficient power management. Smart grid efficiently satisfies these requirements with the integration of machine learning algorithms. Machine learning algorithms are used in a smart grid for power requirement prediction, power distribution, failure identification etc. The proposed Random Forest-based smart grid system classifies the power grid into different zones like high and low power utilization. The power zones are divided into number of sub-zones and map to random forest branches. The sub-zone and branch mapping process used to identify the quantity of power utilized and the non-utilized in a zone. The non-utilized power quantity and location of power availabilities are identified and distributed the required quantity of power to the requester in a minimal response time and price. The priority power scheduling algorithm collect request from consumer and send the request to producer based on priority. The producer analysed the requester existing power utilization quantity and availability of power for scheduling the power distribution to the requester based on priority. The proposed Random Forest based sustainability and price optimization technique in smart grid experimental results are compared to existing machine learning techniques like SVM, KNN and NB. The proposed random forest-based identification technique identifies the exact location of the power availability, which takes minimal processing time and quick responses to the requestor. Additionally, the smart meter based smart grid technique identifies the faults in short time duration than the conventional energy management technique is also proven in the experimental results.

This comparative study examines the moderating role of risk management in project planning and project success in the construction business of the UK and Pakistan. The data was gathered from 152 project managers (76 from both economies each) using a survey questionnaire. The purposive sampling technique was used to ensure fair representation of sample size and the RAND formula was used to select the project managers. For quantitative analysis, partial least square structural equation modelling technique was utilised. The results confirmed that project planning had a statistically significant impact on project success. Furthermore, risk management significantly moderated the relationship between project planning and project success in the construction businesses despite being in two different economies. The paper contributes to the enhancement of the body of knowledge intended for global companies and academicians aiming to implement risk management frameworks to enhance project success and ensure the effectiveness of project planning in a competitive business environment. It offers a new perspective to investigate the relationship between project planning and project success through moderating the effect of risk management, which is a new theoretical dimension for construction business and the field of project management. It is proposed to the governments and construction businesses operating in the UK and Pakistan to validate the empirical research framework in the cross-cultural context while assessing risk and uncertainty. It helps the construction business in the evaluation of risk while planning and successfully implementing project strategies.

The paper describes the recent developments of Hybrid Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (HFRP) and nano-Hybrid Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (nHFRP) bars. Hybridization of less expensive basalt fibres with carbon fibres leads to more sustainable alternative to Basalt-FRP (BFRP) bars and more economically-efficient alternative to Carbon-FRP (CFRP) bars. The New-Developed HFRP bars were subjected to tensile axial loading to investigate its structural behaviour. The effect of hybridization on tensile properties of HFRP bars was verified experimentally by comparing the results of tensile test of HFRP bars with non-hybrid BFRP bars. It is worth to mention that the difference in obtained strength characteristics between analytical and numerical considerations was very small, however the obtained results were much higher than results obtained experimentally. Authors suggested that lower results obtained experimentally can be explained by imperfect interphase development and therefore attempted to improve the chemical cohesion between constituents by adding nanosilica particles to matrix consistency.

In September 2018, the ArgDiaP association, along with colleagues from Germany and the UK, organised one of the longest and most interdisciplinary series of events ever dedicated to argumentation - Warsaw Argumentation Week, WAW 2018. The eleven-day ‘week’ featured a five day graduate school on computational and linguistic perspectives on argumentation (3rd SSA school); five workshops: on systems and algorithms for formal argumentation (2nd SAFA), argumentation in relation to society (1st ArgSoc), philosophical approaches to argumentation (1st ArgPhil), legal argumentation (2ndMET-ARG) and argumentation in rhetoric (1st MET-RhET); and two conferences: on computational models of argumentation (7th COMMA conference) and on argumentation and corpus linguistics (16th ArgDiaP conference). WAW hosted twelve tutorials and eight invited talks as well as welcoming over 130 participants. All the conferences and workshops publish pre- or post-proceedings in the top journals and book series in the field.

Over the course of operation, asphalt road pavements are subjected to damage from car traffic loads and environmental factors. One of the possible methods of strengthening damaged asphalt pavements may be the application of an additional rigid layer in the form of a cement concrete slab with continuous reinforcement.

The main factors determining the choice of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) materials are the intended use of the designed structure and the environmental conditions in which it will be located. Currently, the FRP-based materials have a variety of applications in the construction industry, from the secondary structural elements of buildings, to a complicated designs, where the only FRPs were used. The advances in FRP technology have spurred interest in introducing innovative hybrid fiber-reinforced polymer (HFRP), which potentially can be used as reinforcing/enhancing material. This paper describes the investigation on newly-developed hybrid fiber-reinforced polymer HFRP bars, which were created by modification of basalt fiber-reinforced polymer BFRP bars in terms of physical substituting of the certain amount of basalt fibers by the part of carbon fibers. Modification is aimed at achieving of better properties in obtained material and simultaneously ensuring cost-effectiveness concept. The investigation includes the preparation and numerical considerations on HFRP bars as well as first attempts of experimental structural testing of innovative HFRP bars.

Currently the trams are experiencing the renaissance and more and more Polish cities decide to renew the fleet. New vehicles are usually characterized by high transport capacity, low floor, climate comfort, crash resistance, low energy consumption and low axle loads. Such requirements can only be achieved through optimization in many areas of the vehicle's construction. One of such tasks is the optimal selection of components of the main circuit installation and traction needs. The paper is oriented on the issue of engineering modelling of the effective values of currents flowing in the main circuit and the tramway traction needs circuits. Due to the non-periodic nature of the vehicle traffic loads in urban traffic, the optimal selection of the performance parameters helps in better selection of conductor cross sections, filters and safeguards. A better selection of these components means a reduction of its weight, which is extremely important for meet basic requirements of modern tram vehicles. The paper is intended to gather the experience of authors in this field of knowledge and compares several modelling strategies that the authors use during designing tram vehicles. The elaboration summarizes the results obtained using different modelling strategies, and shows correlation between effective value and selection of components.

The subject of this analysis is connected with the verification of the load capacity of the span structure taking into account the degree of corrosion of the railway viaduct components located at 41.446 km, on the railway line no. 301 of "Kotlarnia" SA Sand Mine built over the national road DK88 and railway tracks PKP-PLK near T. Kościuszki street in Zabrze The general condition of the structure with regard to the corrosion assessment of structural steel is presented in the paper. Static and strength calculations were carried out to determine the load capacity class, and as a result of the analysis it was found that the technical condition of the facility steel girders is suitable for repair.

This paper introduces numerical investigation on mechanical performance of a concrete beam reinforced with Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bars, which can be competitive alternative to steel bars for enhancing concrete structures. The objective of this work is being identified as elaborating of reliable numerical model for predicting strength capacity of structural elements with implementation of Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The numerical model is based on experimental study prepared for the beams, which were reinforced with Basalt FRP (BFRP) bars and steel bars (for comparison). The results obtained for the beams reinforced with steel bars are found to be in close agreement with the experimental results. However, the beams reinforced with BFRP bars in experimental programme demonstrated higher bearing capacity than those reinforced with steel bars, which is not in a good convergence with numerical results. Authors did attempt to describe the reasons on achieving experimentally higher bearing capacity of beams reinforced with BFRP bars.
