BackgroundInteractive digital technology use is integral to adolescents’ lives and has been associated with both health benefits and risks. Previous studies have largely focused on measuring the quantity of technology use or understanding the use of specific platforms. To better understand adolescents’ interactive digital technology use, we need new approaches that consider technology interactions and their importance. ObjectiveThis study aimed to develop an assessment tool to evaluate adolescents’ digital technology interactions and their perceived importance. MethodsWe used a validated scale development approach comprising 2 initial steps to create an item pool: item pool development and item pool refinement. These steps relied upon empirical literature review and an expert convening. We then evaluated the item pool using a Web-based survey. Data were collected via Qualtrics panel recruitment from a national sample of 12- to 18-year-olds. Participant data were randomly split into a development subsample for exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and a test subsample for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). We assessed Cronbach alpha as well as model fit characteristics including root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) and comparative fit index (CFI). ResultsOur initial item pool had 71 items and the refined item pool contained 40. A total of 761 adolescents assessed the item pool via Web-based survey. Participants had a mean age of 14.8 (SD 1.7) years and were 52.8% (402/761) female and 77.5% (590/761) white. The EFA analysis included 500 participants and an 18-item draft scale was created. The CFA included 261 participants to test the draft scale. Adequate model fit for the scale was indicated by an RMSEA of 0.063 and a CFI of 0.95. The final scale included 18 items in a 3-factor model, with Cronbach alpha for the 3 factors of .87 (factor 1), .90 (factor 2) and .82 (factor 3). The 3 factors were named (1) technology to bridge online and offline experiences, (2) technology to go outside one’s identity or offline environment, and (3) technology for social connection. ConclusionsThe resulting Adolescents’ Digital Technology Interactions and Importance (ADTI) scale is a promising and psychometrically validated tool for identifying the importance of distinct technology interactions. The scale is informed by relevant theory and expert input. The 3 subscales have utility for future studies to understand whether certain subscale score ranges are associated with health or well-being outcomes.

This research aimed to establish an analytical method for the quantification of 10-deacetylbaccatin Ⅲ (10-DAB Ⅲ) and Taxol in Taxus yunnanensis. The method of matrix solid phase dispersion coupled with high performance liquid chromatography (MSPD-HPLC) was used for the respective quantification of 10-DAB Ⅲ and Taxol of T. yunnanensis. The influences of various parameters were investigated, including 12 types of solid-phase dispersants (silica gel, florisil, acid alumina, neutral alumina, alkaline alumina, C18, C18-ME, C18-G1, C18-HC, Diol, Xamide, Xion), the mass of the dispersants, and the type, concentration, and volume of the eluent on the analysis of the two components. After optimization of these conditions, the methodology was validated. Additionally, a comparative analysis was conducted with the conventional ultrasonic extraction and hot reflux extraction pretreatment methods to ascertain their effectiveness of our novel method. The results were as follows: (1) Among the 12 solid-phase dispersants examined, alkaline alumina yielded a superior extraction detection rate for 10-DAB Ⅲ and Taxol when used in a 3∶1 ratio with the sample mass and 6 mL of methanol as the eluent. (2) The developed 10-DAB Ⅲ and Taxol analysis method in T. yunnanensis demonstrated that excellent linearity (r≥0.999 9) with limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) for 10-DAB Ⅲ and Taxol ranging from 0.023 9 to 0.030 1 μg·mL-1 and from 0.142 to 0.178 μg·mL-1, respectively. The average recoveries of the target analytes varied between 93.6% and 109.0%. (3) A comparative analysis revealed that negligible differences in extraction detection of the two taxanes between the three methods. However, the MSPD method stood out due to its lower solvent consumption, simple operation, short analysis time and high purification efficiency, making it more suitable for the rapid analysis of T. yunnanensis raw materials. Therefore, this study presents a rapid and efficient analytical method for the extraction and analysis of 10-DAB Ⅲ and Taxol in T. yunnanensis, using alkaline alumina as a dispersant, providing a significant contribution to the quantitative analysis of taxanes in this species.

Objective To assess the role of the ferroptosis-associated gene GLS2 in the prognosis of pan-cancer and immunity using bioinformatics methods. Methods GLS2 expression levels in pan-cancer were profiled using publicly available databases: The Cancer Genome Atlas, GTEx, Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia and the International Cancer Genome Consortium. The aim was to explore the role of GLS2 gene expression, gene variation survival analysis, immune infiltration, immune checkpoint related genes, TMB, and MSI in different tumors. Results Difference in GLS2 expression levels between cancer and paraneoplastic tissues was statistically significant in most cancer types, and the expression level was correlated with survival in these cancer types. A positive correlation was found between GLS2 expression and immune cell infiltration in multiple cancer types, and GLS2 expression level was positively correlated with TMB, MSI, and methylation, and its expression is an indicator for potential therapeutic response. Conclusion Pan-cancer analysis shows that the ferroptosis-related gene GLS2 can be used as a diagnostic and prognostic marker of clear cell carcinoma of kidney, adrenocortical carcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancer.

Ferroptosis is a novel regulatory cell death characterized by iron dependence and mainly caused by the accumulation of lipid peroxides and reactive oxygen species in the cell. This process plays an important role in the development of many malignancies, and has been extensively studied in lung cancer, especially in antitumor therapy. In recent years, the role of ferroptosis in tumor immunotherapy has been gradually explored. Studies showed that targeting ferroptosis can improve the therapeutic efficacy of antitumor immunotherapy. In addition, immunotherapy and ferroptosis can work synergistically to enhance the effectiveness of antitumor therapy, suggesting a potential relationship between ferroptosis and immunotherapy and the possible reversal of immune drug resistance. This study aims to elucidate the characteristics of ferroptosis, and the role and potential clinical applications of ferroptosis in the antitumor immunotherapy of advanced non-small cell lung cancer. We also explore the role of some nanomaterials that target the onset of tumor ferroptosis in facilitating immunotherapy.

To solve the problem of icing on steel surface, BiOBr was synthesized by hydrothermal method using bismuth nitrate and potassium bromide as raw materials, and the BiOBr modified by silane coupling agent was coated on the surface of stearic acid modified iron sheet using the dip-coating method. The BiOBr and coating were characterized by XRD, FTIR and SEM, and the anti-icing and de-icing properties of the coating were studied. The experimental results demonstrate that the contact angle of water droplets on the coating surface is 154.23°, thus delaying the freezing time of water droplets on the surface of the iron sheet from 10 s to 60 s. Under the irradiation of ultraviolet light, the surface temperature of superhydrophobic iron sheet rises from 27.41 ℃ to 57.87 ℃. The photothermal conversion effect provided by BiOBr in the coating makes the ice on its surface melt rapidly. At the same time, the coating has good self-cleaning performance.

Expression of transmembrane protein 106A (TMEM106A) has been reported to be dysregulated in several types of cancers. However, the role of TMEM106A in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still unknown. In the present study, we demonstrate that TMEM106A is markedly downregulated in HCC compared with normal liver tissue. In particular, tumor-specific DNA methylation of TMEM106A is frequently observed in tumor tissues from HCC patients. Immunohistochemistry and pyrosequencing reveal a significant relationship between TMEM106A methylation and downregulation of protein expression. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis reveals that methylation of TMEM106A in tumor samples is different from that in non-malignant adjacent tissues of HCC patients. Moreover, HCC patients with TMEM106A hypermethylation have a poor clinical prognosis. 5-Aza-2′-deoxycytidin treatment of hypermethylated TMEM106A in highly metastatic HCC cells increases the expression of TMEM106A. Functional assays reveal that overexpression of TMEM106A significantly suppresses the malignant behavior of HCC cells in vitro and decreases tumorigenicity and lung metastasis in vivo. Mechanistically, TMEM106A inhibits epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) of HCC cells through inactivation of the Erk1/2/Slug signaling pathway. In conclusion, our findings demonstrate that TMEM106A is an inhibitor of HCC EMT and metastasis, and TMEM106A is often transcriptionally downregulated by promoter methylation, which results in reduced levels of TMEM106A protein and predicts poor survival outcomes for HCC patients.

Fe2TiO5 was synthesized via nonhydrolytic sol-gel method at 600°C. The effects of iron sources on the synthesis of Fe2TiO5 were investigated. It was demonstrated that Fe-O-Ti bonds will not be formed in the xerogels prepared by taking FeCl3 as iron source because it is strong Lewis acid and induces homocondensation. Fe-O-Ti bonds were formed in the xerogels prepared by using Fe(OC2H5)3 and FeOH(CH3COO)2 as iron sources. However, the hydroxyl group in FeOH(CH3COO)2 easily leads to homocondensation and particles agglomeration. Thus, Fe(OC2H5)3 is optimal iron source with both excellent synthesis and particle dispersion effects.

A reasonable prediction of the compressive strength of lightweight high-strength concrete is an important basis for determining concrete strength. Through cluster analysis, the key factors affecting the compressive strength of lightweight high-strength concrete are found, and the degree of influence of each factor on the compressive strength is analyzed. We applied linear regression analysis of the relationship between the above factors and the compressive strength using SPSS, and performed multiple non-linear regression to establish a prediction model for the compressive strength of lightweight high-strength concrete using MATLAB. Using RMSE, we tested the simulated and actual values of the model, to determine the applicable conditions of the model through response surface analysis. The results of the study show that: cylinder compressive strength, water-binder ratio, cement dosage, coarse aggregate particle size and sand ratio are the key factors affecting the compressive strength. The R2 values of the single-factor prediction models are all greater than 0.9, and the corresponding coefficients of the lightweight high-strength concrete compressive strength prediction models are 1.46, 18.31, 21.6, –3.28, –71.12, 1.36 and 20.48 respectively; The root mean square error RMSE is all lower than 1.05 MPa. The applicable condition of the prediction model shows that the cylinder compression strength is between 3.2 MPa and 4.9 MPa. When the coarse aggregate particle size is 15 mm~25 mm, the sand ratio is 26 %~35 %, the cement dosage is 450 Kg/m³~500 Kg/m³, and the water-binder ratio is 0.34~0.4, the parameter value range is the optimal prediction space of the model. When the 5 parameters are simultaneously in the optimal prediction interval, the prediction level of the model is the best and the prediction accuracy of the proposed compressive strength prediction model is higher. The model is of great significance to the study of the mechanical properties of lightweight high-strength concrete.

To effectively evaluate the performance improvement of cement pavement in seasonal frost regions, the typical diseases of cement concrete pavements in seasonal frost regions are proposed through the analysis of measured data, and the influence factors of pavement performance mutation value in seasonal frost regions is determined, the application conditions of the model are obtained by the response surface test method; the road performance improvement model is established by the regression analysis method, and the goodness of fit and significance state of the model were tested, and the validity of the model was verified by comparing with the evaluation results of the existing model. The results show that: broken slabs, staggered platforms, cracks, exposed aggregates, broken corners and potholes are typical diseases of cement concrete pavement in seasonal frost regions; the mutation value of pavement performance is most sensitive to the impact of road damage index, running quality index and anti-skid performance index before pre-maintenance, which under pre-curing conditions. The evaluation effect of the model for improving the performance of cement concrete pavement in seasonal frost regions is good, and the interpretable part of the improvement of pavement performance by the model is 99.2%; the fit of the improved evaluation value and the measured value is 0.991, and the model high fit. The evaluation effect of the proposed model is better than the existing model, and the determination of the model is of great significance to the pre-maintenance of cement concrete pavement.

Hypertension is associated with body mass index (BMI) and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases (CCDs). Whether hypertension modifies the relationship between BMI and CCDs is still unclear. We examined the association between BMI and CCDs and tested whether effect measure modification was present by hypertension. We identified a population-based sample of 3,942 participants in Shuncheng, Fushun, Liaoning, China. Hypertension was defined as any past use of antihypertensive medication or having a measured systolic/diastolic blood pressure ≥130/80 mm Hg. BMI was calculated from measured body weight and body height. Data on diagnosed CCDs were self-reported and validated in the medical records. We used logistic regression models to estimate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for associations between BMI and CCDs. Higher BMI was associated with increased odds of having CCDs (OR = 1.19, 95% CI: 1.07–1.31). This association was significantly modified by hypertension (P for interaction 0.10). Although higher BMI was associated with increased odds of CCDs, the relationship was mainly limited to hypertensive patients.

Background: Neonatal appendicitis (NA) is rarely diagnosed due to lack of specific symptoms and signs. The aim of this study is to share our experience with NA. Methods: We performed a retrospective data review from electronic medical records of patients admitted at Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University (CHCMU) with the clinical diagnosis of NA from October 2001 to July 2018. Results: Of 31 neonates, male neonates (n=20) accounted for 64.5%. Abdominal distension and anorexia were the most common clinical features (61.3%, n=19). Neonates with elevated C- reactive protein (CRP) accounted for 92.6% (n=25) where as 51.6% (n=16) had normal white blood cell count (WBC). Of 29 neonates who underwent surgery, 69% (n=20) had perforated appendicitis. Conclusion: Neonatal appendicitis lacks specific clinical features, and early diagnosis is difficult. Clinicians need to have high index of suspicion when attending neonates with features of abdominal sepsis.

Abstract Background We have previously demonstrated that alcohol exposure at early neurulation induces growth retardation, neural tube abnormalities, and alteration of DNA methylation. To explore the global gene expression changes which may underline these developmental defects, microarray analyses were performed in a whole embryo mouse culture model that allows control over alcohol and embryonic variables. Result Alcohol caused teratogenesis in brain, heart, forelimb, and optic vesicle; a subset of the embryos also showed cranial neural tube defects. In microarray analysis (accession number GSM9545), adopting hypothesis-driven Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) informatics and intersection analysis of two independent experiments, we found that there was a collective reduction in expression of neural specification genes (neurogenin, Sox5, Bhlhe22), neural growth factor genes [Igf1, Efemp1, Klf10 (Tieg), and Edil3], and alteration of genes involved in cell growth, apoptosis, histone variants, eye and heart development. There was also a reduction of retinol binding protein 1 (Rbp1), and de novo expression of aldehyde dehydrogenase 1B1 (Aldh1B1). Remarkably, four key hematopoiesis genes (glycophorin A, adducin 2, beta-2 microglobulin, and ceruloplasmin) were absent after alcohol treatment, and histone variant genes were reduced. The down-regulation of the neurospecification and the neurotrophic genes were further confirmed by quantitative RT-PCR. Furthermore, the gene expression profile demonstrated distinct subgroups which corresponded with two distinct alcohol-related neural tube phenotypes: an open (ALC-NTO) and a closed neural tube (ALC-NTC). Further, the epidermal growth factor signaling pathway and histone variants were specifically altered in ALC-NTO, and a greater number of neurotrophic/growth factor genes were down-regulated in the ALC-NTO than in the ALC-NTC embryos. Conclusion This study revealed a set of genes vulnerable to alcohol exposure and genes that were associated with neural tube defects during early neurulation.

Abstract Background Since 2003, the number of pilot areas of the New Rural Cooperative Medical System (NRCMS) has increased in rural China. And the major efforts have been concentrated on the enrollment of prospective members. In this study, we examined the satisfaction of the rural residents with the NRCMS as well as factors affecting their attitudes towards the NRCMS. Methods The data for this study were collected from a survey involving twenty counties in Liaoning Province. Interviews and focus groups were conducted between 10th January and 20th August 2008. A total of 2,780 people aged 18-72 were randomly selected and interviewed. Data were evaluated by nonparametric tests and ordinal regression models. Results 71.6% of the study subjects were satisfied with the NRCMS. Single factor analysis showed that attitudes towards the NRCMS were influenced by gender, age, marital status, and self-rated health status. In the ordinal regression analysis, gender, age, and self-rated health status affect satisfaction (P < 0.05). Conclusions We found that a considerable proportion of farmers were satisfied with the NRCMS. Gender, age, and self-rated health status had significant effects on farmers' attitudes towards the NRCMS. The Chinese Central Government attempted to adopt active measures in the future to continuously improve the NRCMS, including initiating educational programs, building new medical facilities and increasing financial investment.

Novel yellow to blackish green Ni-doped aluminium titanate (Al2TiO5) ceramic pigments were synthesized by solid-state reaction method at 1400 °C. Effects of nickel doping content on phase composition, microstructure, optical properties and stability were studied. The results show that the higher content of Al2TiO5 phase and the reduction of the lattice distortion of aluminium titanate could be attributed to the entry of nickel ions into aluminium titanate lattice resulting in the formation of solid solution. Ni-doped aluminium titanate ceramic pigments show exceptional glaze colouring and are expected to be promising high-temperature pigments.

Effective prediction of rutting diseases in seasonal frozen area is helpful for comprehensive evaluation of asphalt pavement performance. In this paper, based on the Mechanical-Experienced Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) theory, the rutting prediction model of asphalt pavement in the seasonal frozen area is established by using the measured rutting data of 9 typical highways in the seasonal frozen area of China. The research results show that the traffic volume, climate, and asphalt layer thickness of the pavement structure are directly proportional to the change in rutting. The proposed correction coefficients for the prediction model of asphalt pavement rutting in the seasonal frozen area are β1r = 2, β2r = 1.03 and β3r = 0.93. The normal distribution map and P-P map of the rutting prediction model conform to the normal distribution. The fit between the predicted data of the prediction model and the measured data is high. The fitting value between the predicted data and the measured data before correction is R2 = 0.9357. The fitting value between the revised predicted data and the measured data is R2 = 0.9925. The research results are of great significance for the prediction of rutting and maintenance of asphalt pavement in the seasonal frozen area.

In order to evaluate the damage of cement concrete pavement after the freeze-thaw cycle in the seasonal frozen area, it is determined that the dynamic elastic modulus and flexural tensile strength by analyzing the influence of the freeze-thaw on the concrete performance. The two indexes are most sensitive to the evaluation of the freeze-thaw damage of the pavement. Based on regression analysis method, two freeze-thaw damage models based on two indexes are established, and the goodness of fit and significance state of the model are tested. The applicable conditions of the two models are determined by response surface test method. The validity of the model is verified by comparing the prediction results of the existing model. The results show that when the water cement ratio is 0.45-0.48, the gas content is 1% - 4%, and the freezing temperature is - 15℃ - 25℃. The model based on dynamic elastic modulus index has the best evaluation effect. When the water cement ratio is 0.4-0.46, the gas content is 1-3.5, and the freezing temperature is below - 5℃, the model based on the flexural tensile strength index has the best evaluation effect. The explainable parts of the two models are 99.1% and 99.2% respectively, and the fitting degree of the damage evaluation value and the measured damage value is 0.997 and 0.998 respectively. The model has a good fitting degree. The evaluation effect of the model is better than that of the existing model. The determination of the model is of great significance to the future pavement maintenance work.
