Based on an analysis of the activities of party and Komsomol organizations in the city of Omsk, the article shows the main directions and forms of mass political work carried out by local authorities to form the 75th Stalin volunteer separate rifle brigade of Omsk-Siberians. The author traces this activity from its beginning until the brigade was sent to the front. The study is conducted on the basis of a set of published and unpublished records of the Omsk city and regional committees of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks), the NKVD for the Omsk region and the memoirs of brigade veterans. It is carried out on the basis of a microhistorical approach, which made it possible to detail the features of mass political work in the process of forming a military unit during the Great Patriotic War. The article reveals the public mood of Omsk residents, which they demonstrated regarding the creation of a volunteer brigade. In conclusion, an assessment is made of the activities of party and Komsomol organizations in the city of Omsk and the most important principles of mass political work to form a brigade of Omsk-Siberians are formulated.

This article is devoted to the review of the research and teaching activities of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Alexey Vladimirovich Sushko. By means of the analysis of the latest historiography, conducted in the vision of the problematic and biographical methods, the research provides the author’s analytical assessment of the contribution of this major academic specialist to the development of modern Russian historical science and higher education.

The article is a comprehensive study of the biography and scientific work of Evgeny Ivanovich Timonin. As part of the study of the biography, the author, actively relying on the poetic legacy of E. I. Timonin, publications in scientific journals and the press, restores the picture of rural life in Soviet Siberia in the 1920s and 1930s. Later, E. I. Timonin’s studies at Tomsk State University, his contacts with teachers and front-line students, are studied. The author of the article pays great attention to the service of E. I. Timonin worked at the Ministry of State Security of the USSR, his work at the Beloyarsk seven-year school, Omsk Higher School of Militia. A serious volume of the article is devoted to the analysis of E. I. Timonin’s cooperation with the Omsk regional organization of the society «Knowledge» and work after the collapse of the USSR. E. I. Timonin left 200 works on history and historiography, 10 monographs, 20 pamphlets and dozens of newspaper publications on the history of the region to future generations of historians. A more worthy monument to the historianresearcher could not be found. The article is intended to perpetuate the memory of E. I. Timonin, taking into account his centennial anniversary.

The First World War had an enormous impact on the perception by the sovereign national states of their own territorial space. For a number of countries, the end of the war was accompanied by a change in their policy towards national borders, including the rules of border crossing. In Russia, where radical political changes took place in the late 1910s – early 1920s, the authorities also tightened the control over the movement of people, including foreigners. Using Omsk as an example, the article demonstrates how the city, which used to be open to foreigners in the pre-revolutionary period, became a restricted-access city in the Soviet period. On the basis of the study of travelogues, newspaper articles, and published archival documents, the author shows how the admission of foreigners to Omsk was regulated in the 1920s–60s against the background of restricting access of foreign nationals to the cities and entire territories of national significance. The article shows that the formal transfer of the capital of Siberia from Omsk to Novo-Nikolaevsk after the Civil War had far-reaching consequences. However, until the mid-1920s, Omsk was still perceived as the main Siberian city. From 1926 to 1938, Omsk was one of the main stations on the round-the-world routes used by American travelers and pilots. Along with Moscow, Omsk played an important role in helping to set world records in the speed of travelling round the world. The Soviet authorities sought not only to control the process of travel but also to influence the Americans’ impressions of the USSR on order to shape a positive image of the country abroad. It has been shown that access to Omsk became restricted as a result of a number of decisions made by the Soviet central authorities in the 1940s–50s. It is important to note that in the post-Stalin era, the existing ban for foreigners to visit Omsk was not reconsidered. Only trustworthy representatives of the countries with which the Soviet Union maintained privileged relationships were allowed to visit Omsk on extraordinary occasions.

One of the significant events of 1937 in the USSR was the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the death of A. S. Pushkin, which contributed to attracting the attention of Soviet citizens to the life and work of the poet. The purpose of this work is to examine the process of organizing and holding Pushkin Days in settlements of the Omsk region. The choice of the region is connected with the coverage of a large territory, which was inhabited by different populations. The research is based on a number of unpublished documents from the funds of the Historical Archive of the Omsk region, as well as materials of the periodical press of the Omsk region for 1936–1937. In conclusion, it is noted that the celebration of the anniversary of the poet’s death significantly influenced the development of cultural life in the USSR, helped to attract the population to the problem of illiteracy, attracted the indigenous population of Siberia to participate in the event.

Ruslan Grigorievich Gagkuev — Doctor of Historical Sciences, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Historical Society, Executive Director of the History of the Fatherland Foundation, leading researcher at the Center for Military History of Russia at the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Wellknown researcher of the history of the Civil War in Russia. Ruslan Grigorievich visited Omsk several times on scientific affairs. This interview was agreed upon during the preparation of the V International Scientific and Practical Conference «Civil War in the East of Russia: A Look Through the Documentary Heritage». The interview was given remotely and then edited by Ruslan Grigorievich from Moscow in October 2023. The conversation is devoted to the current state of the study of the Civil War in Russia and the development of domestic historical science.

The history of the emergence and formation, as well as the dynamics of development of the scientific and practical conference «Civil War in the East of Russia: a look through the documentary heritage», held since 2014 in Omsk, is presented. The key characteristics of past conferences are analyzed (topics and number of materials in collections, geography of authors, whether they have academic degrees, the total number of participants, etc.). The authors of the article (active members of the organizing committee) consider the conference as a current phenomenon of scientific life, realized in external and internal political circumstances that are special for Russia and its academic science. The review is addressed to a wide range of readers, including researchers in the history of historical science, historiography of the Civil War in Eastern Russia, historical memory, the history of archival affairs in Siberia and local history.

The article, based on an analysis of materials from the case of «Artamonov’s organization», reconstructs a generalized social portrait of residents of the Omsk region who were subjected to massive political repression during the years of the Great Terror for belonging to the command staff of the White Army during the Civil War. The theoretical basis of the study is a combination of anthropological approach, prosopographical, comparative-historical, historical-genetic and statistical methods. The purpose of the work is to analyze, in the context of the historical conditions of the Omsk region, the typical social characteristics of representatives of the former officers who became victims of mass political repression during the years of the Great Terror. In conclusion, the information potential of historical sources is assessed and further prospects for developing the topic of political mass repressions against former White Guards are outlined.

In September-October 2023 in the Hermitage-Siberia center of the Omsk Region Museum of Fine Arts. M. A. Vrubel hosted the exhibition «Siberian Seasons of the Leningrad Philharmonic. To the 80th anniversary of the 1943 tour»; the project had great public outcry. The exhibition featured unique documents, restored at the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, related to the stay and creative activities of the Philharmonic in the Siberian rear. A conversation with Yu. Z. Kantor, the curator of this museum project, that took place in October 2023, is devoted to its significance and substantive features.

The article analyzes the history of the creation and development from the founding in 1973 to the present day of the School Museum of Military Glory of the 75th Guards Brigade, located in the Secondary School of the city of Omsk No. 41. The research was carried out on the basis of museum materials and documents of the veteran organization of the military unit, stored in the Historical archive of the Omsk Region. An assessment of the experience and social significance of the patriotic work carried out in the museum is given. Particular attention is paid to the comparative historical study of the forms of work on the patriotic education of youth in the Soviet and modern Russian periods of national history. In conclusion, recommendations are given for improving the work of the museum.

An analytical review of the work of the II All-Russian scientific and practical conference «The activities of domestic special services in the era of social cataclysms», held on October 19–20, 2022 in Omsk, is presented. The authors of the publication (active members of the organizing committee) consider the conference as an actual phenomenon of scientific life, which took place in historical foreign and domestic political conditions that are special for Russia. Covered: the course of the event, the main content of scientific reports, key aspects of the controversy, the results of the conference are presented, the resolution is given. The review is addressed to a wide range of readers, including, first of all, researchers of historical science, Russian special services, local history and official commemoration practices.

This publication reconstructs the causes, circumstances and consequences of the arrest of the Omsk Social Democrat, lawyer K. A. Popov by the gendarmerie in Omsk in January 1916, despite a considerable number of materials on the biography of K. A. Popov, the history of the revolutionary movement in Omsk, a separate study , entirely dedicated to this event, has not yet been published. The basis for the publication is the documents of the paperwork of the gendarmerie identified in the funds of the historical archive of the Omsk region. According to the results of a study built on a combination of an anthropological approach and the biographical method, the author emphasizes the special importance of the documentary heritage of domestic special services that provide significant assistance in the study of sociopolitical history.

At the end of XIX - beginning of XX centuries members of the Omsk Medical Society began to give public lectures to the townspeople. During this period, doctors throughout the Russian Empire carried out active educational activities, the purpose of which was to familiarize society with new sanitary practices and prevent epidemics. The purpose of this article is to study the educational activities of Omsk doctors in the late 19th - early 20th centuries, to achieve which we will turn to the issues that the lecturers raised in their speeches and their professional qualifications. For their presentations, lecturers chose topics related to both general issues of the development of medical science and addressed local sanitary problems. So public lectures became a platform for discussing urban problems. Doctors acted as experts, both for the authorities and for the townspeople. Omsk doctors were welltrained specialists with extensive practical experience, as well as actively engaged in scientific activities. Reading public lectures gave them the opportunity to take part in the educational activities of the scientific societies of Omsk, as well as to do charity work.

Implementing curriculum accommodations through learning intervention is critical to supporting learning and special programmes in sociology lessons for students with special needs in class X. The objective of this work is to describe the evaluation of learning intervention for students with visual impairments in order for them to be agile in social mobility and communication orientation (OMSK) and skilled in learning sociological paradigms as part of curriculum accommodation that has been carried out. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method based on the Context-Input-Proccess-Product-Outcome (CIPPO) evaluation model, with data collected through interviews, observations, and document evaluation. The learning material was sociological paradigm that was carried out using several methods, including the observation method assisted by peer reporting to analyse the social facts paradigm; the action motive interview method to analyse the social definition paradigm; and reward type interviews to determine the social behaviour paradigm. The results of this study highlighted the successful implementation of curriculum accommodation as observed through the CIPPO technique, with all components completed. The impact of curriculum accommodation is an improvement in OMSK, for example, the special needs student is more agile for getting around the school. Furthermore, the special needs student is skilled at conducting well-mannered and polite interviews with teachers or staff members at school.

The paper provides an analytical review of the scientific reference publication «Victims of the Civil War: a reference book-martyrology on the act records of the parish registers of the temples of the Omsk region (June 1918–December 1919)», prepared by the creative team of Omsk historians-archivists — candidates of historical sciences Dmitry Igorevich Petin and Maxim Maksimovich Stelmak. The features of the author’s approach, chosen as key criteria in the preparation of the publication, are critically comprehended. The use of a theoretical set, consisting of the principle of consistency, problematic and comparative historical methods, allows us to present the analyzed work as a striking phenomenon of historical science. The general scientific, cultural and methodological novelty of the publication is noted.

The work based on unpublished sources (church records), presents an analytical review of information about the representatives of the Batyushkins family — close direct ancestors of the subsequently wealthy and famous family in prerevolutionary Omsk. The purpose of the work is to identify the genealogical origins and connections of the Batyushkins family, which contributed to the entry of this family into the merchant class. The methodological basis of the study is a combination of the anthropological approach and the historical-genetic method. In conclusion, the special role of the merchant E. A. Terekhov in acquiring a new status for the Batyushkins family and in the general consolidation of the Omsk business families at the personal communicative level in the second half of the 19th century is emphasized.

The article described a little-studied aspect of Soviet military construction in Siberia at the final stage of the Civil War in Russia — the creation and the first months of the activity of the Siberian Directorate of Military Educational Institutions of the Red Army. The source base of the study is unpublished materials of the office work of Siberian Revolutionary Committee, the Omsk press and memoirs. The theoretical basis of the study is a combination of anthropological and systemic approaches, problem-chronological, comparative-historical and biographical methods. The author comes to the conclusion about the key role of the Soviet military leaders M. N. Tukhachevsky and N. I. Koritsky in the formation of a network of military schools in Siberia, and the influence of the Siberian Directorate of Military Educational Institutions on the development of military education in the region and the cultural level of the local population.

This publication reconstructs the biography of N. M. Terekhova (Belonogova) political figure of Omsk social-democratic, a teacher, an active participant in the socio-political movement in Western Siberia. Despite the very significant contribution to the activities of the RSDLP, the biography of this revolutionary is not reflected in historiography, her name was not included in the official Soviet historiography, although many associates, and sometimes opponents in their memoirs mentioned it, even after several decades. In the official press about it, they wrote quite rarely. The basis for the publication is a set of published and unpublished memories, memoirs and materials of the paperwork of the gendarmerie identified in the funds of the historical archive of the Omsk region. According to the results of a study built on a combination of an anthropological approach and the biographical method, the author emphasizes the particular relevance and importance of genealogical practices in the study of regional socio-political history.

The article characterizes the monograph of the Oryol researchers A. B. Gularyan and A. Yu. Saran, specialists in the history of domestic special services. The publication provides a comprehensive study of the structure, main directions and regional features of the activities of the GPU-OGPU bodies in the Omsk Irtysh region and the Oryol Pooch region in 1922–1934. The article analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the monograph. It is emphasized that it contributes to the study of the political, social and everyday history of the early Soviet society. As a merit of the authors, an innovative approach to the study and comparison of the activities of the regional structures of the Soviet special services in different regions that are significantly distant from each other is noted. It is concluded that Russian historians should support and continue such an undertaking, expanding its scope geographically and chronologically. This, in general, will allow us to look at the history of state security agencies from a new angle and significantly complement scientific knowledge about their past.

The article analyzes the events in Omsk on February 15-22, 1918, when an attempt by the regional Soviet authorities to implement the "Decree on the separation of church from state and school from church" led to riots in, Soviet historiography called the "priest's rebellion". In the course of these events, the novice and housekeeper of the bishop's house, Nikolai Tsikura, was killed and later canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church. The aim of the work is to analyze the circumstances of the death of Nikolai Tsikura in the context of the events of the Civil War that broke out in Russia. Along with published reports in periodicals and published and unpublished memoirs, one of the key evidence of the topic under consideration is the act record of the death of Nikolai Tsikura, stored in the Historical Archive of the Omsk Region. The article introduces into scientific circulation a brief description of the personality of Nikolai Tsikura, given to him in connection with the events of the “priest’s rebellion” in the memoirs of Omskovite M.A. Stolpovsky, who personally knew him. After analyzing two points of view on the cause of the murder of Nikolai Tsikura (he defended the bishop during the arrest or was killed for no apparent reason), the author notes the absence of a source that allows to unambiguously answer that question. When analyzing the circumstances of the death of Nikolai Tsikura, special attention is paid to the fact that the bells rang by killed priest triggered the mass unrest in Omsk, brought the people out into the streets who defended Bishop Sylvester and other arrested priests from possible reprisals and postponed for a month the implementation in Omsk of the “Decree on the separation of church from state and school from church.” It is emphasized that the canonization of Nikolai Tsikura in In 2000, continued the church tradition of venerating him as a holy new martyr started in 1918 at the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The analytical review is devoted to a new and conceptual microhistorical research — the monograph «The History of the Omsk clan of Batyushkin», published by the Omsk historian-archivist and local historian, PhD in History, Associate professor Dmitry Igorevich Petin. From the standpoint of a problematic vision, the substantive aspects of the book are highlighted, which, in the opinion of the reviewer, are worthy of close attention of the academic community, as well as plots, the discussion of which can be continued in a debatable manner. In conclusion, the high significance of the analyzed monograph for understanding the Modern History of Russia is emphasized.

The issue of creating green spaces in the cities of the Russian Empire, relevant for the turn of the 19th—10th centuries, is considered. Particular attention is paid to the city of Omsk, for which this problem was the most acute, since the landscaping of the space was supposed to improve the city in sanitary terms, improve the climate by reducing dust storms and creating recreational areas for citizens. It is noted that the creation of green spaces in Omsk was part of the policy for the improvement of the city and was on a par with the creation of water supply, sewerage, etc. It is shown that during this period many projects for the gardening of Omsk were considered, but only some of them were fully or partially implemented, the reason for which was a rather modest budget. It was revealed that the main direction was the renovation of existing green spaces and the design of parks and squares in the city center near administrative buildings. It is emphasized that projects to change the urban space were put forward by different groups of citizens, including merchants and representatives of the Orthodox Church. In conclusion, it is noted that the gardening of Omsk in the late XIX — early XX centuries was continued after the revolution and turned into a large project to create a garden city.

The military-revolutionary period in the history of Omsk (1914–1917) due to wellknown events is one of the most relevant topics not only for academic specialists, but also for the general public. The purpose of this study is, using military anthropology, to characterize the measures of the military leadership of the Russian Empire for the cultural adaptation of cadets-peasants to the conditions of the urban environment (by the example of Omsk). The source base for the study are departmental reports, normative-instructional and clerical materials from the funds of the Russian State Military-Historical Archive and the Historical Archive of the Omsk Region. As a result of the study, it is found that the main measure for the cultural adaptation of the cadets-peasants is the instruction, which with «pedantic precision» regulated their «everyday life and duties».

Based on unpublished sources and emigrant memoirs, the work analyzes the issue of social adaptation to the conditions of emigration in Manchuria by representatives of the «Omsk group», which consisted of former members of the anti-Bolshevik Siberian governments during the Civil War. Based on the theory of social adaptation and the anthropological approach, the article focuses on such aspects of the biography of this category of figures as behavioral strategies, service on the Chinese Eastern Railway, and the choice of citizenship. The study of the destiny of the “Omichi” in Harbin is necessary to present the activities of Russian public and political figures after the Civil War, to understand the problems of emigration in Manchuria and the peculiarities of the existence of the liberal intelligentsia.

Based on the example of the Omsk and Pavlodar Diocese, the article analyzes the influence of religion on the events of the Russian Revolution and the Civil War in Russia is analyzed. The religious factor is understood as the processes of the influence of religion on the beginning, course and outcome of the Civil War, on the activities of the opposing forces, political institutions and public opinion. The main thesis of this article is that in the Russian Revolution and the Civil War in Russia, for the majority of the population, religion did not play a consolidating pacifying role, but, on the contrary, became a factor in the disintegration of society and the escalation of civil confrontation. To confirm the main thesis, the author considers three aspects of the influence of the religion on the escalation of the Civil War in Russia. The first is the ideological conflict between the forces of the revolution and religious confessions, which naturally led the Church to the anti-Bolshevik camp. The second is conflicts between representatives of the clergy, caused by ideologically different views religious and political topics and support of socialist revolution by part of the clergy. The third is the decline in the authority of the Russian Orthodox Church as a social cultural institution among a significant part of the Orthodox population and among the non-Orthodox, which opened the way for the spread of varied ideologies of nationalism and socialism.

In this article, through the prism of the anthropological approach and the theory of social adaptation, the biography of the representative of the Russian technical intelligentsia Mikhail Vasilyevich Lebedev is analyzed. He was given an alternate service in the Russian (imperial) army, the People’s Army of the Committee of the Members of the Legislative Assembly, the White Siberian Army, the Red Army, and Soviet institutions. The study was based on a set of unpublished sources from the funds of the Museum of Urban Life, the Historical Archive of the Omsk Region, and the archive of the FSB of Russia in the Omsk Region. The author concludes that, despite belonging to the category of «former people» and repression, the hero of the story has successfully adapted to the conditions of the Soviet society.

This archaeographic publication is devoted to the study of the Jewish question during the Civil War in the east of Russia. A memorandum of the Irkutsk official S. A. Shimansky to the Supreme Ruler Admiral A. V. Kolchak with a proposal to deport Jews from Russia is added. The introductory preface to the document, based both on the works of historians on the situation of Jews in Russia and on clerical sources characterizing the personality of the author of the memo, analyzes the conditions that made it possible for an official in White Siberia to create it. The publication is of interest to researchers of the events of the Russian Revolution and the Civil War in Russia, the ethnopolitical history of the Russian state and Siberia.

The paper analyzes the monograph «The History of the Omsk clan of Batyushkin» prepared by the Omsk historian-archivist and public figure, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor D. I. Petin. The author analyzes the peculiarities of the author’s approach to coverage on the example of a single Omsk family and the mansion of political and social history that belonged to it in more than a century of the functioning of the Russian statehood. The scientific, methodological novelty of the monograph is noted; as critical passages, certain aspects are highlighted, with which the author of the review does not fully agree. In the final, a conclusion is made about the high significance of the analyzed book novelty.

The article presents a little-studied aspect of religious life in Russia during the First World War, associated with mass conversions to the Orthodox faith of prisoners of war of the Slavs – former soldiers and officers of the Austro-Hungarian army. The study was based on sources representative of the stated problem – the records of the birth books of Orthodox churches in Omsk for 1915–1917, the official church magazine «Omsk Eparchialnye Vedomosti» and reports of the Omsk gendarme administration. The connection of the issue under study with historiography is given, on the basis of which the controversial issue related to the number of prisoners of war of the Slavs attached to Orthodoxy in Omsk is indicated. The anthropological approach, problem-chronological, statistical and historical-comparative methods formed the methodological basis of the study. This theoretical combination made it possible to analyze the process under study in maximum detail, to identify qualitative indicators, linking everything that happened with the specific historical situation and the personalities of the church hierarchs who served in Western Siberia. The factors that determined the decision to convert to Orthodoxy of captured Slavs who were in Omsk during the First World War – Czechs, Rusins, Poles are indicated. The authors come to the conclusion about the «Omsk phenomenon» of the Slavs prisoners of war joining Orthodoxy, thanks to the ascetic activity of the missionaries of the Omsk and Pavlodar dioceses, who were headed by Bishop Sylvester (Olshevsky). As can be seen from the study, the dynamic development of this process was ensured by the official ideology that dominated the Russian Empire, based on Orthodox values. The issue studied in the article is analytically stated in terms of aspects related to the quantitative, ethnic, confessional, and social characteristics of the converts. The authors emphasize that the fall of the monarchy as a result of the Russian Revolution led to a change in the paradigm of the country's development and immediately put an end to the mass conversions of Slavs prisoners of war to Orthodoxy in Omsk. The publication may be of interest to researchers of the peoples of Eastern Europe, military and social history, as well as national and religious politics.

The article analyzes the work carried out in the USSR on child labor protection in the early 1920’s on the example of Omsk. The connection of the studied issue with the historiography of the problem is given. In the context of the legislative framework affecting the work of adolescents and the work of supervisory authorities, the problems faced by minors when applying for work are studied, the difficulties of the situation of children in Omsk are outlined, where one of the solutions to improve their situation was assistance in finding employment. The work of Omsk labor protection inspectors is studied using specific examples. The publication is addressed to researchers of everyday life, the history of labor relations and childhood in Western Siberia in the early 1920’s.

This article is an attempt to reconstruct the elements of the corporate culture of the schools for training warrant officers in Siberia (Omsk, Irkutsk) during the First World War. Any corporate culture is the foundation of society. The absence of this foundation is one of the reasons for the atomization of society — social disunity, which is expressed in a significant decrease in trust between people, the loss of the skills of collective problem solving and collective interaction. From this point of view, corporate culture is a means of stabilizing society. Therefore, it is necessary to study the positive and negative aspects of corporate culture. The materials of the 1st Kazan and Vladikavkaz (2nd Tiflis) schools for the training of infantry warrant officers are used in the work. As a result of the study, it is found that the corporate culture of the schools for the training of warrant officers in Siberia (Omsk, Irkutsk) included such elements as school holidays, school graduation badges, instructions and historical memos for students, norms of etiquette, etc.

In the context of the events of the Russian Revolution, the author analyzes the events in Omsk on February 15–22, 1918, when the attempts of the regional Soviet authorities to implement the «Decree on the separation of church from state and school from church» led to mass riots with bloodshed in Soviet historiography called «priest’s rebellion». Sources from the two camps are published and analyzed. The church point of view is presented in the reports of the newspapers Tomsk church-social bulletin and Tobolsk eparchial vedomosti. The view of the authorities is reflected in the memoirs of a prominent Soviet figure F. M. Shemis, who was a direct participant in the described events. Comparing the information of the sources with the works of historians and the memoirs of an eyewitness, the author comes to the conclusion that a chronologically broader view of the unrest in Omsk is necessary, as well as that the anti-Bolshevik «church side» was not a passive victim, but a full subject of the conflict, which was a manifestation of the flaring fratricidal confrontation — The Civil War in Russia. The published materials are of interest to researchers of the history of the Russian Orthodox Church and the events of the Russian revolution.

In the article, on the basis of the prosopographic method, the collective portrait of the head of Omsk schools for the training of infantry warrant officers is reconstructed. The study is based on army clerical records from the Russian State Military Historical Archive and the Historical Archive of the Omsk Region. In the context of events of the Russian Revolution and the Civil War in Russia the Omsk cadet Valentin Aleksandrovich Zhardetsky`s views on the Siberian regionalism are considered. He was a one of the main Kolchak regime ideologists. The source for the study is the Siberian periodicals, as well as the testimonies of our hero about the activities of the Siberian regionalists and the connection of the issue of Siberian autonomy with the international situation given to the Omsk Gubchkom on the eve of his execution. The last source is introduced into the scientific turnover for the first time. The authors conclude that the Russian nationalist V. A. Zhardetsky was one of the most consistent opponents of «Siberian selfhood» similar to the Ukrainian nationalism. His arguments about Siberian regionalism are also relevant for modern Russia, which once again faces the potential threat of separatism in Siberia

The article is devoted to the study of the circumstances of coming to power in the anti-Bolshevik Omsk of Admiral A. V. Kolchak. He concentrated in his hands the executive, legislative, judicial and military power becoming the Supreme Ruler of Russia and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The author comes to the conclusion that the appearance of A.V. Kolchak in Omsk was a consequence of the contradictions between British and French politicians, and the admiral himself, relying on the British, was a victim of a redivision of the world following the First World War

The article is devoted to the study of organization and activities of the Omsk provincial Committee for the fight against labor desertion (Omgubkomtruddezertir). Based on the analysis of the legislative base of the 1919–1921’s and the office documentation of the Omgubkomtruddezertir (reports, summaries, reports), its composition, main functions and mechanisms for combating labor desertion are studied. The difficulties and specifics of the organization of the fight against labor desertion in the Omsk province are revealed. The author comes to the conclusion that despite the difficulties encountered, the lack of employees, insufficient work experience, Omgubkomtruddezertir, in general, successfully solved the tasks assigned to it

The development of youth movement in the 1920’s is considered. It was not without contradictions, which was due to the influence of the unfolding party struggle, as well as the presence of completely opposite views on the role and functions of the Komsomol in the Soviet state. This publication is devoted to the consideration of a separate episode in the development of the youth movement in the territory of the Omsk province related to the attempt of a group of active workers to remove the current leaders of the provincial committee of the communist union. The paper analyzes reasons that prompted Komsomol members to express distrust of the governing apparatus. A letter is sent to the scientific community, sent to the activists of the Kalachinsky Ucom with a proposal to join the organized opposition

The paper analyzes changes in the structure of labor employment of the population of Siberian cities during the World War I and the impact of these changes on the level of income of citizens on the basis of unpublished sources, periodicals and statistics. From the point of view of the theory of historical everyday life, it is argued that the urban environment of Western Siberian cities faced a number of new challenges with the beginning of the World War I, which significantly worsened the social well-being and economic activity in Siberian cities. The transition of the country’s economy to supplying the front with arms and products inevitably affected the traditional commercial activities of the merchants, the supply of food to the rear cities, and various types of traditional labor activities in cities that in peacetime depended on the demands of the market and citizens. The author substantiates the conclusion that the growing crisis in the economic sectors has steadily influenced changes in the structure of employment, and also caused a decrease in the level of income of citizens in July 1914–February 1917

The article is devoted to the reconstruction of the history of the 39th Omsk reserve rifle brigade (division). Attention is focused to the contribution of the Omsk military unit to the Great Victory. The article proved that during the years of World War II, the brigade sent to the front the largest number of fighters in comparison with other units formed in the Omsk region and sent to the front in full force. Thanks to the courage and heroism of the soldiers and officers trained in Omsk, the notable contribution of the soldiers who arrived to the front from Siberia in the victory over fascism, the country’s leadership was given the honorary name Omsk. Based on the above information on the history of the 39th Omsk reserve rifle brigade, the author comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to perpetuate her memory in Omsk, and in particular at Omsk memorials

The study is dedicated to the life of a representative of a family of serving noblemen known in pre-revolutionary Omsk. The purpose of the work is to present the example of this fate as the position of a former career officer in provincial imperial and Soviet society. The relevance of the work is seen in the fact that the life path of A.P. Moser is a small example of the relatively successful integration of a former officer in Soviet society. Studying the life of this person fills the knowledge about the being of «former people» in the RSFSR — USSR. The basis for the preparation of the work was unpublished sources from the funds of the Russian State Military Historical Archive, the Historical Archive of the Omsk Region, as well as an interview with the author’s granddaughter of the article’s hero. The author comes to the conclusion that the anthropological vision of the plots of political and everyday history allows us to draw general conclusions about the state, society, strategies and forms of social survival on the basis of particular cases

The article is devoted to the analysis conducted in 2013–2019. Omsk historians and archivists of scientific conferences at which various aspects of the events that took place in Siberia after the February bourgeois-democratic and Great October Socialist revolutions and during the ensuing Civil War in Russia were examined. Then, in 1918–1919, the city of Omsk, having gained a special position on the political map of Russia, became the capital of «White» Russia, headed by Admiral A. V. Kolchak. Particular attention is paid to the efforts of Omsk historians, archivists, local historians, who became the organizers of a deeper study of the history of the Civil War in Russia and, especially, in Siberia, in the Omsk Irtysh Region in connection with the 100th anniversary of those controversial events

The article, thanks to documents from the Pantyukhov family archive, the archives of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Omsk Region and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Magadan Region, the Historical Archive of the Omsk Region and the archive of the Omsk State Medical University, for the first time put into scientific circulation, makes it possible to find out the details of the biography of Pantyukhov, who devoted himself to serving the most humane from professions

The article deals with the biography reconstruction of the chekist-transport worker (public security officer) N. V. Ivanov. The authors comes to the conclusion that the life and fate of N. V. Ivanov makes it possible to cast doubt to the popular postulate that in 1937 all the «old school checklists» were destroyed by J. V. Stalin. N. V. Ivanov was a communist, distinguished himself in struggle against banditry, approved himself as a good professional in the eyes of the governing body. Thus, N. V. Ivanov secured his career promotion in the Soviet transport security agencies, and received many national honorary awards for his service, successfully surviving mass political repressions

In this work, from the point of view of historical and cultural studies, the issue of memorialization in Omsk in memory of Admiral A. V. Kolchak is analyzed. This question is considered from the standpoint of modern political history of the national and local levels in relation to the development of history as a science and the process of forming the historical memory of the Civil War. The role of specific people who influenced the course of these phenomena in Omsk is highlighted. According to the authors, the example of Omsk clearly shows that sharp controversy and an ambiguous assessment of the events of the Civil War remains in modern Russian society

The study, built on correlating a complex of unpublished sources and oral family history, for the first time reconstructed the life path of G. Ya. Galkin, a civilian official, holder of 12 orders and medals, chief of Omsk, then Amur post and telegraph districts. During the period of the active introduction of telegraph in Russia, he served from an ordinary practitioner to a senior manager. The biographical method became the main one in writing the article, based on its scientific genre. The authors attempted to analyze the historical conditions and factors that influenced the personal and professional development of the hero of the publication

Исследуется история становления системы музыкального образования в г. Омске. Процесс становления подразделяется на III периода. I период (1920 - середина 1921) -формирование трех музыкальных школ. Музыкальное образование было бесплатным для всех. Образовательные учреждения находились на Госбюджете. II период (1921-1927) следует подразделить на 2 этапа. 1-й этап (до 1923) приходится на начало НЭПа. Это годы кризисного финансового положения в системе образования. Прекращение государственных дотаций и введение платы за обучение повлекло закрытие музыкальных школ. В 1922 г. Сибгосопера переехала в Новониколаевск. Музыкальный техникум остался единственным, реально действующим очагом культуры Омска. 2-й этап (1923-1927) характеризует постепенная стабилизация финансового положения техникума (начало возобновления госдотаций и увеличение количества стипендий). Музыкальная школа вновь отделилась от техникума. III период (1928-1929) - расширение сети музыкального образования, открытие новой музыкальной школы. Повсеместно вводятся единые учебные планы. В статье рассматривается концертно-просветительская деятельность преподавателей и учащихся музыкальных учебных заведений. Расширение репертуарной политики способствовало систематизации музыкальных впечатлений слушателей и углублению их знаний. The military towns are considered as one of the components of the military-strategic function of the cities of Omsk and Novo-Nikolaevsk in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The military-strategic aspect of construction is described and the features of the placement of barracks complexes in urban areas are revealed. This research showed that the military building complexes built within the city were quite autonomous in the structure of Siberian cities and their structures corresponded to all functional purposes. It has been established that the objects of military infrastructure under study, along with railway buildings, are an example of the use of typical projects in their organic combination with specific urban planning conditions of Siberian cities of the early 20th century.
